MOUSEWORK
by aimes
My mouse he got sick
On each button I'd click
"What's This"? was his only reaction.
So I put him to bed
Used the keyboard instead
To cure his peculiar affliction.
I looked at his settings
Did all sorts of vettings
But nothing could solve this disruption.
Was it a virus he'd caught?
From some disc I had bought
Perhaps it was only Depression.
He had read some E-mails
of Supermice retails
I revised all my Documentation.
I thought I would fail
Was beginning to quail -
I tried step by step Confirmation.
Then Back to his settings
To fettle my nettlings
And get back complete restoration.
Tried all things in sight
DID Something Right??
Resulted complete satisfaction!
YOUR THOUGHT AND MINE
Kahlil Gibran
Your thought advocates Judaism, Brahmanism, Buddhism, Christianity, and Islam. In my thought there is only one universal religion, whose varied paths are but the fingers of the loving hand of the Supreme Being. In your thought there are the rich, the poor, and the beggared. My thought holds that there are no riches but life; that we are all beggars, and no benefactor exists save life herself.
Henry Jackson van Dyke
Time is
Too slow for those who Wait,
Too swift for those who Fear,
Too long for those who Grieve,
Too short for those who Rejoice,
But for those who Love,
Time is not.
Good morning everyone. I think I was in bed sound asleep by 8 last night so wide awake now at 5am. No nap yesterday.
PATRICIA I fall asleep any time my eyes cannot stay open any longer. I do get times when I have trouble sleeping but that happens only a few nights and I am back to sleeping good again.
AMY with all the trips you do I bet you wish you had shares in an oil company these days of high gas prices. My daughter and SIL go into town 2 times a week, Sunday for church and some groceries and Wednesday for the big grocery shopping and any appointments they have. Last few weeks they do every thing they can on Sunday and as much by phone as they can the rest of the week. An hour to drive to town each way.
PHYLLIS Wednesday is laundry day for me. I am sure of a CNA that day. I have not been outside since Christmas When and IF spring arrives I will be able to go out and sit on the porch. If I did that now I would shiver
RICK good one, Here have to make sure you bring everything back that you take down to the laundry room. Some of the CNAs do not pat attention what they do. The good ones fold every thing when taking out of the dryers and the others cannot be bothered and leave items behind.
JANE seeing a weather guesser this morning today and tomorrow it is supposed to get up to 61° then back to the freezer. I remember when all the girls in your family went to the Grand Canyon.
BUBBLE wow the 15th of March already. Thanks for the new page.
Have a good day everyone and stay safe.
Good morning..
Not going to see much sun today judging by the forecast.
We had a great day yesterday .picking up all that was on the list ( that I left at home ) and then some. A trip like that tuckers me out
Gloria, when we go to the city I try to make the trip count and pick up all that is needed. I was surprised that Costco wasn't all that busy!
Bubble, thank you for the new start and yes prayers for Ukraine are definitely needed.
Enjoy your day and stay safe
Just checking in. Going to be a busy day. Plumber is due at noon and son will be trying to get out for an appointment.
Thanks for using one of my graphics, Bubble. And I like your graphic. I have been doing just that....praying for Ukraine. Those poor people are going through a hard time all because of someone who is a monster and a bully decides he wants what someone else has. It's always the so-called little people who pay the price for someone's greed for power.
Take care, All.
:cup: :hugs:

Good Morning Everyfriend! I came in to the computer to say "Good Morning" and it wouldn't let me into the website. I've been to the Dr. and back and he extended the time for going back the next time so I must be getting better. I'm now having my second cup of coffee.
When I finish here, I'm heading for the kitchen to make AMY'S hot mustard. I'm on my last jar and if it's like all the rest of them, it won't last past next weekend.
Just wondering...have any of you ever used or even heard of "Margaret Holmes Chili Fixins"? I added a can to my cart a while back while I was shopping and yesterday, I decided to try it out. It's excellent! You brown a pound of ground beef or ground sausage and dump in the contents of the can, stir, and simmer for about 15 minutes and supper is ready1 I didn't expect it to be so good but I was pleasantly surprised! I looked her up on line and she makes lots of other stuff. I'll be looking for her in the stores from now on!
Better get a move on or nothing will get done today! I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
Jane, I did get my mustard made and now have 2 pints ahead. Phoned David to wish him Happy Birthday . He is on his way to Delano PA. Going through snow at the moment but has yet to cross the border.
I mixed up the ingredients to make sausages and will taste test them for supper tonight before freezing them.
Lloyd, it was his choice to steal from you....you need to stop it in the bud before he steals from anyone else and thinks he can get away with it.
Rammel , nice to see you checking in.
:excited: :excited: Just came in from putting more feed out for the birds and Dropwing (crow) is here!! So good to see him back!
Good morning Everyone! Beware the Ides of March!
Minus twenty this morning with a promised high of only plus eight. To add to that, we're expecting snow early Wednesday morning! The good side is that it has to considerably warm up to gain the humidity to snow and the downside, well, snow.
Bubble, thank you for all the pithy sayings! You always come up with interesting items, so thank you!
Amy, glad your crow has returned! Our ravens will soon be leaving us and returning to the mountain passes. A sure sign of imminent spring here is when the vast winter flocks of smaller birds break up into their species singular flocks. Each autumn, for protection, they merge into these huge multi-species flocks and, in the spring, change back again.
The only one I ever saw locally who had an affinity for birds was a woman in my childhood neighborhood. She had a small postage-sized backyard but several birdhouses, feeders, and wind toys. All the neighborhood birds seemed to hang out with her or in the spruce trees in her yard.
She would sit out almost every day, and the birds would temporarily perch on her head or shoulders and eat from her hand. Every passerby would stop and chat or gossip with her, even us kids. I remember dad put up kitchen curtains because she would ask him how he liked his eggs or whatever he'd had for breakfast that day.
Good afternoon everyone from the
cold and windy rocky coast of Maine.
I woke up the other morning and couldn't
figure out why my clocks were not the same.
Of course this is the time of the year
when the time Springs a head one hour
and some of my clocks do that naturally and
others I have to do myself...
Boy, that is the first time that I
got caught not realizing that it was that
time of the year again.
Live and learn.
I hope that all is well and I pray
for the people of Ukraine ...
Peace!
Sandy
Sandy and everyone else caught up by the US time change,
From USA Today, "WASHINGTON – You soon may be able to skip the semiannual switching of your clocks for daylight saving time.
The Senate Tuesday unanimously passed the Sunshine Protection Act, which would permanently extend daylight saving time (DST) from eight months of the year to the full 12 months. The bill was first introduced in January 2021 and reintroduced by Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Florida, and seven other bipartisan members of Congress last March.
Rubio on Tuesday targeted the "ritual of changing the clock back and forth and the disruption that comes with it."
"And one has to ask themselves after a while, 'Why do we keep doing it? Why are we doing this?'" he said.
The bill would make daylight saving time permanent across the U.S. in 2023. Rep. Vern Buchanan, R-Florida, who introduced the House bill last year, told USA TODAY Tuesday he would send a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-California, asking for immediate consideration of the bill.
"There are enormous health and economic benefits to making daylight saving time permanent," Buchanan said. "Florida and 17 other states have already moved to adopt (DST) year-round but cannot do so without congressional approval. It's time to end the antiquated practice of changing our clocks twice a year.
The move to end the time change follows public opinion. A poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research conducted in October 2021 found only 25% of Americans said they preferred to switch back and forth between standard and daylight saving time.
However, 43% of survey respondents said they wanted to see standard time (the hours observed roughly for most of November into March) the time for the entire year. Meanwhile, 32% said they would prefer daylight saving time, which most of the U.S. switched to on Sunday at 2 a.m. local time, to be used all year.
Rubio said DST began in 1918 "as a practice that was supposed to save energy, and since then we've adjusted it." Initially running for six months, DST now lasts eight months, "clearly showing you where people's preference (is)," he said.
"I think the majority of the American people's preference is just to stop the back and forth changing," Rubio said. "But beyond that, I think their preference is – certainly at least based on today's vote, and what we've heard – is to make daylight saving time permanent."
"I'm hoping that after today, this will go over to the House of Representatives, and they'll act quickly on it," Rubio said. "I know this is not the most important issue confronting America, but it's one of those issues where there's a lot of agreement. I think a lot of people wonder why it took so long to get here."
Rubio brought the bill up under unanimous consent. No one objected, and it was adopted. Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, D-Arizona, who was serving as acting Senate president during the process, whispered an emphatic 'Yes!" when no one objected.
Arizona does not recognize DST (except for Navajo reservations). There's also no time change observed in Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam and the Northern Marianas.
Sen. John Thune of South Dakota, the GOP Senate whip, when asked about the DST bill's passage, said he didn't know it passed, and joked he must have missed it by an hour, but said, "I'm fine with that. People in South Dakota complain about that all the time"
Good Morning everyone. well It Is 43º and clear @5:26 AM this aufel day light saveings time.Hope you all have a good day just like you like it. I am depressed just weating on the appalo court judges to give there ruling and hope it is in our faveor, our lawluer is onely aloud 15 minuts to give his speach. I think he said he has 87 infrations. hope it is enough time.that judge was on our side and kicked that tinnet out , then he did a about face and kicked us out of our home that Had been famley owened seince in the earley 1800's. once again I tell you all a hand shake is no good anymore. if you have any busnes trancation in value of ten$ or more, get a good lawler to set up the rules and regester it in court. a hand shak is not worth the paper it is wrtten on. have a good day.
Lloyd
Good Morning Everyfriend! I'm all dressed and ready to go out to breakfast with my former high school classmates. We try to do it once a month and last month was our first gathering since the pandemic. It was great! My friend is picking me up at 8:30 so I have to get going and take Cooper for his walk. I think it might be light enough when I finish here!
PATRICIA, no one asked me if I wanted to keep DST permanently...but then, I don't think any of the government's questions ever reach this far. I do sometimes wonder who they do ask! If they were going to keep something, I'd vote for regular time year round!
LLOYD, I'm with AMY! You need to keep that guy from becoming a regular thief. And you need to get your tools back!
SANDY, nice to "see" you in the SS. Come back soon!
I better get on my horse and get a move on or I won't be ready when my friend gets here! I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
:hello: Mornin' on the run...bookkeeper calls and will be back later..
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Not sure if I checked in yesterday, was one of those days of back to back jobs & this ole lady isn't used to BUSY non stop anymore. Walmart got in a 3 year battery that the guys in auto think will work instead of the 4 year, tad less cranking power but who knows if & when they will get a 4 year in??? So, I baked brownies before going to bed last night & hope to get the elephant out there. They are such good people, the "girls" at the desk & guys doing the work in the shop. The big test is getting the jacks up (auto) & getting it to Walmart without having it die, not sure how many times that aux battery will start it. Can't believe the print out for that battery isn't in the bag that holds all paperwork. I usually scan any receipts before putting in the bag but hasn't shown up yet. Plenty of proof on the battery to show & know it is in their files, BUT... I'd feel better about MY book keeping if "all my ducks were in a row"(as my friend says). I did get the front half of the motorhome washed so I could see out & they wouldn't get dirty pulling the battery. It had a combo of dust/dirt/mixed with snow that left MUD, real MUD plastered all over. While I was at it I backed the car out & gave it a good washing & chamois dry because I couldn't get in & out without getting pant legs dirty. Had not washed that grime off from last road treatment a week or so ago. Still right now, nary a tree limb swinging. To be upper 70s today & maybe a mix of rain/snow tomorrow night!
Lloyd, you can Google on eBay to find what your anvil looks like to show the police.. all kinds of antique ones & all prices. I'm with the other girls, need to make this kid (any under 65 is a kid in my book) shape up before he lands in jail. Give him one warning that you are going to the police & follow up. I'm guessing his parents would be ashamed he is being this way. Do you suppose he sold it or loaned it to someone else? Sad, but HIS doing & sometimes we have to do what we should do to teach people how to behave, right?
Well, better have my breakfast & start the doings. Cats had their Fairlife milk, they barf up regular milk but this sets with them fine. They are old & can't help having finicky tummys, our fault for spoiling them.
I have to get the car in to the auto mechanic for annual inspection and oil change so no time this morning.
Take care, All.
Good morning everyone. 38° and a gray sky. All that needs to be done today is laundry and wwhle that is in the washer Fran and I will get a pie shell into the oven. Then when the clothes are in the dryer will get strawberries ready for a pie. Made a mistake about 3 weeks ago, Fran and I were talking about baking and I mentioned a recipe for a Fresh French blueberry pie I got the recipe in a Yankee magazine almost 50 years ago. Can only be made with fresh blueberries. Ok the next week she got what was needed and we made it. She loved it and wanted the recipe. She made it over the week end and her family loved it. She took a picture of it and showed it to a client down on the first floor. She had to make her one. Then I made the mistake that I used the same recipe and made a strawberry pie and that was great too. She brought the strawberries yesterday. She will do most of the work and I will get to eat most of the pie with cream on top Half the berries are cooked and half are raw, mixed together, put in the shell and chilled to set. My mouth is already drooling.
AMY there is a Costco at the other end of the state and at this end there is a BJ, same idea, both my sons are members. If I had a freezer I would join again but no room here to stock up on anything.
JANE I have not been into a market in over 3 years and I have no idea what new things are out now. I always liked going into markets shopping for food.
Did you see on the news las t night that mothers were forced to leave babies behind in the Ukraine? 20 some babies left where they should be kept safe. I sure pray for they and how the mothers must be feeling.
Have to get going, Fran will be here in a few minutes and she is always on time.
Have a good day and be safe.
Almost up to 40° F here a slow melt is nice, letting the water get away slow.
Now it is a wait and see with the bookkeeper..said about a 3 week turn around.
Laundry has been ironed, folded and put away. Dog next door has been let out and will go back over in a bit to give him his pill.
Gloria, we are now stocked back up for whatever may come. I like their paper products and I picked up mini bells for Kyle..he enjoys snacking on them. all in all it didn't cost us anything and they gave me 1:30 back!! I use their cc and get points then they send me a check.like that kind of deal.
Shirley, that is a huge job washing your motorhome..not an easy job either.
Better go see what needs to be not done :)))
I'm sitting in the Walmart parking lot after the aux battery refusing to start again this morn.... Used all the juice it had to start it yesterday. So, AAA came out, nice guy, got it running & offered to follow me to Walmart but I lost him along the way! The 4 year battery is on the long term tester right now but he didn't think the aux.battery was bad, just didn't get a chance to charge back up from the abuse yesterday. Hate to sit here for 2 hours+, but gotta do what we gotta do, huh? This iPad is holding a charge pretty good but better not talk long, may need it before I get home. My phone is already down & haven't even used it... do need to get a new one but ... choices, choices...
Amy, so glad DropWing made it back. We used to hold our breath till Missy (the robin) showed up. She would zoom in & sit on the fence till we noticed her. One year I even picked up up she was so tired she fell off the fence, yelled to Cas "Missy is BACK" as I ran into the house & scared her! Give DropWing a special treat, hope you can get a pick of him/her to show us.
I'll check in later, when I get home. I'm starving.... Guess I'll go shop a while. Oh, I don't know how to highlight, copy & delete so I can do all the necessaries for font, size & color & paste back in. Someday I'll learn, for today it's what you see is what you get, & won't hold it against you if you decline reading.
Shirley - Your post looks fine.
Thanks, Rick. Home again & so tired I can't see straight. Tomorrow is the day to call the city official to get a 30 day extention to have the motorhome in the driveway, then it's okay during the summer so people can load & unload & work on them. Anyway, that gets me until Oct 1 to sell it (& after this I am ready!) I spent the entire day trying to get it started & that darn battery exchanged & didn't get home until about 4:30. Those poor mechanics were rushing their legs off trying to keep up with customers. I kind of winked at one of the younger guys that was writing up the ticket & said, "aren't you happy to do the work of 2 or 3 so the government can let YOU pay tax to give to those other guys so they don't have to work?" He looked shocked that someone understood~~ How did the plumber do? I have a number of plumbing jobs that need attention, most of all the hot water heater is past due for crashing & if I was smart I'd get it replaced before it leaks all over the basement. Don't want to think about it tonight! I'm going to get my pajamas on & doze off. Will look for Callie, she didn't want to come inside while ago. She has been acting strange lately, not sure if spring fever or she doesn't want to be locked inside in case she wants to go off and die. She is more feral than her kids about insisting on going out. Don't want to think about that, either!
Sweet dreams to all, God Bless. Shirley
Quote from: Shirley on March 16, 2022, 09:35:32 PMHow did the plumber do?
The Plumber will be back next week. We have an old toilet in the basement. It was installed when the house was built so it is just short of a hundred years old. The flapper valve was (is) leaking. I had installed a replacement repair part years ago, but that has died. Repair parts are now hard, if not impossible, to find for it. So, we concluded a complete replacement is in order. I also have two outside faucets that I want upgraded to "frost free" type. That way my son won't have to try to remember how to shut them down and drain them for the winter. I won't be here forever to think of that for him.
Being a home owner is a challenge but it sure beats being a "cliff dweller".
Good evening to all, --- and good night.
RAMMELI do not Have any idea of how old you are , But I suspect we are both in the same age grupe. Lloyd - Just shy of 88 here. While I never had a farm, I did grow up at one. We had some prize cows and very rich milk. Some day I may post my life story, but tend to avoid it. Some here know it. It's too bad you are so far away as I probably have some stuff you could use. Stashed away I have some items I'll probably never use - Thickness Plainer, Jointer, good Chop Saw, and a bunch of hand tools - Hand Plains, Chisels, a small drill press, an old DeWalt saw. I just can't use these any more. Some of this stuff was my son's but he's no longer with us. I learned a lot growing up where I did, and at that time it was OK for kids to be put to work.
RAMMEL Thanks Nice gurnsey corect. I just bought one not in as goodd shape as that girl looke but is getting better we got some goof stancion geed and let her have about as much as she wants.we have here up at our deaughter and SIL. as soon as we get feince up here we are going to bring her and also the grand's goats home and we are going to build a milk barn. Good morning..
A mild rain threated day out this morning. A day of playing catch up again. Will get my corned beef and cabbage ready for supper tonight and bake a pie for dessert.
Shirley, I was so tickled to see Dropwing..wasn't sure he would make it through the winter . He was the recipient of the last piece of strawberry pie :) Glad to hear Missy made it back .
Rick, she is beautiful!! I milked a Jersey by hand and a Holstein. Jersey cream made into butter!!
Gloria, shelves have a lot of bare spots here , now we are stocked backed up. How is Yvette doing?
Phyllis, corned beef and cabbage done in the IP in 90 min.....works for me!!
Patricia, still getting snow your way? If we get rain today and on the weekend there will be a lot of flooding.
Better scoot.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning Everyfriend! I didn't make it in to say "Good Night" last night but I guess it was OK. It's raining here this morning but it's not going to bother me. The veggie soup is already simmering on the stove but I'm not going to start the canning until Frankie leaves for work around 11. Today's gonna be a busy day!
I have the jars ready and I'm READY! Once this is done I can start planning my trip!
SHIRLEY, sounds like you had a miserable day yesterday. I hope today is an improvement!
AMY, Corned Beef and Cabbage sounds like a good supper. Nice to hear Drop Wing made it back. SHIRLEY, your birdie too but I forgot the name!
I have birdies at my new bird feeder. Sometimes I see them and sometimes I don't. They're so far away that I have yet to identify them. If I try to get closer, they fly away. I guess they're not used to me yet!
I better get dressed and get back to work or it won't get done. I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

.
St. Patrick would get soaked here today. Rained most of the night and still drizzling. Not a good day for the St. Patrick's Day paraders.
My car failed inspection. They discovered a nail in one of the tires and said it couldn't be fixed so tire has to be replaced. Called around to try to find a tire and hopefully I have one coming. My registration renewal is due on the 31st of this month so I'm getting a little anxious about getting a pass in time. Life just keeps getting complicated around here.
Cabbage and I don't agree, Amy, but corned beef sounds nice. Unfortunately, without a working car right now I can't get to the grocery store.....or rather, David can't get to the store to pick up groceries that I order on line.
Take care, All.
I tried watching The St. Patrick's Day Parade from NYC on NBC. Very disappointing. It was more about the three Studio Biggies trying to narrate the Parade. If they showed me the Parade they wouldn't have to tell me about it. There was loads of chit chat between them but very poor coverage of the parade. Any band that was playing was so far from a mike it seemed to be in the background. Then there was the 911 Ceremony. I have nothing against that but not during a Parade for another purpose. :( :( :(
Good morning, snow seems to have stopped last weekend, and the cold seems to be slowly lifting. We're in the high twenties for afternoon highs and overnight lows in minus threes, fours, and fives. They're forecasting lows in the pluses starting on the twenty-third, and we won't see plus fifty until the third week in April. A fitting end to a most unusual year! We had no snow and a sunny spring for Easter only three years ago!
Nothing new here, Farrah has been fed, watered, and snuggled with, and I've had my first mug of coffee. I've had my morning round of texts and calls, Laundry's done, and no more scheduled trips to town for now. The last trip wasn't good. I had the cashier and bagger discussing a brass-gold pen I purchased, totally ignoring that I was right there.
The cashier held up the pen to show the bagger, who replied, "Nice!" Then said, "wants to be fancy." I said, "Hello!" And they looked at me rather blankly. The pen was a whole $8.99, but what poor taste, even if it was thousands. I'm still mulling over making a complaint, but then my rational side says to let it go.
Rammel, I never watched televised parades because of the commentary back when I had a television. I gave my last television, a 19" away, in 1997 after realizing I hadn't turned it on for some time. I didn't have a computer then; not many did. And that was the season that seemed to be all about the reruns.
I worked late shifts and never was that into television and still aren't. But, if I was, plenty of shows on Youtube, and if needed, I could even stream TV shows via my Kindle or computer. I don't want to.
I'M BEAT! But I have 7 quarts and 8 pints of vegetable soup so far to show for my efforts. I also have 3 loads of clean laundry to show. And I put some of the leftover soup in the Hidey Hole for all of you to try! I had some for my lunch and I thought it was one of my better efforts!
Now I'm going in the living room and do absolutely nothing for the rest of the day!
I finally ate lunch ... at supper time so was a lupper again! Getting to be a habit.
Amy, my fav robin (Missy) came back for 8 years but she died before Cas did. I was so thrilled she made it back that last year but when she was working on her 3rd nest for the summer, in a tree across the street, I watched her try to take a piece of insulation she'd found up to put in her nest, about 8x10 size, & it fell several time before she gave up and came over to sit on my porch & die. I watched out the window until she fell over & waited a while before I went out to put her little body in a box to bury her down by the river. I was pretty sure her mate (Toto) knew what happened, never saw him again.
Phyll, I'm surprised the nail caused the test to fail... of course you can get things like that fixed, but I thought the check was for all lights working & brakes in good shape, stuff like that. Been a lot of years since we had to do that. I've had nails in tires, with all the wind storms & roofs replaced it is a common hazzard in KS. I've had mine repaired at Walmart or Sam's & never any trouble out of them until time to get new tires. They have "plugs" they put in. Guess it's like finding oxygen sold in cans in Walmarts in CO, where there is a need....
Sorry about the extra trouble, kinda like with that darn battery yesterday.... spent more than 3 hours in the Walmart parking lot & do hope the new battery holds up.... they checked the accessory battery because it would start it like the day before, but it tested "low but not dead". If it ain't one thing 'tis another!
Rick, I have all those things you mentioned & offered to my sons but they already have everything. I think they just want to use them here until I'm gone, they still help a lot. Nice looking cow, I've been around them on uncles farms but it was the boy cousins that milked & girl cousins that helped in the kitchen. I hid out. ;)
Patricia, I hate it when people talk right "over" you like you don't exist. I also don't like non-English speaking people talking & rolling eyes, like whispering, insulting.
Jane, soup sounds good, that's a lot for one day! I'm ready to fall over. The kids brought the little camper back to it's nest in the garage. Got everything put back & he even drained the gas out of the snow blower & put it in storage. I'm watching rain moving in but only a chance of snow. Watch us get 6" & snow blower is put away!
🍀🍀🍀HAPPY ST PATRICK'S DAY🍀🍀🍀
My quick trip to visit my Dad was FANTASTIC🥰🥰🥰 My son took the best care of me getting there and back and we all enjoyed our time together. It was FAST....left at 5AM SUNDAY Morning with daylight savings time change over going on.....and returned at 8AM on Monday. Whirlwind for sure, but a short visit beats out a NO VISIT!
Got home Monday in time to go to my pulmonologist appointment. The doctor was wonderful.....very caring....not in a hurry at all. She does not anticipate me having any serious issues at all, but wants me to do 4 tests that will rule out any problems at all. I hope I pass them but if I do not at least I will know about them and get them taken care of‼️ Of course these tests are nearly a month down the road.
So sad and upsetting to continue hearing such sad news from Ukraine. I wish we could help them more without it sending Putin over the edge😡😡 How dare he kill all the innocent people in that country. I am not old enough to have first hand knowledge and feeling of hate for Hitler. That being said, I learned why he was such a terrible man. Putin is someone I have known to not trust and now I have a personal reason to know that he IS INDEED a very hateful man.
I hope our Good Lord will help this country through these horrendous times......we all want to help them out and are doing this, but I wish the air strikes could have been avoided. 😱😱
Best of thoughts and luck to all today🍀🍀
Jenny
Glad to read it was a good trip visiting your father, Jenny. Did you find him "up to par" or worse than you expected? I'm hoping your visit perked him up a lot & sounds like it also helped your outlook. I feel like we've lost 2 years completely, only thing I can compare with was the WWII years. We didn't take time to be "politically correct" those days, we had chants & lots of sayings we couldn't use today, but my internal thoughts rank Putin in with the worst of the dictators from my early years. Like I used glue instead of lipstick for everyday talk (inside joke) trying to keep my vile thoughts to myself. ;) Glad you got home safely.
Sweet dreams & God Bless, love y'all. Shirley
OK I quit, I started reading and typing almost an hour ago and guess what happened. yes every thing disappeared. I was down to Patricia's remark about the pen the cashier were talking about. I think I would have looked for the manager after leaving those 2 and reporting them right away and might have insisted he go to that check out to let them know they cannot ignore a customer and be so rude.
I did mention the parades on TV, can no longer enjoy then with commercials when floats are going by so miss those and all the talking over the bands so cannot hear them.
I like watching old movies. At times on YouTube I will search some of the old musical movies from the 1940's
JANE my oldest son and DIL started canning 3 years ago. Then his 2 sons got together and got them a good Dehydrator for Christmas a couple of years ago. He dried a lot from his garden last year. Now he has bought a thing to freeze-dry food, takes up even less room. Also expensive to start, need Mylar bags to keep the dried food in. My daughter has been doing that a couple of years already and now he is telling her how to do it. No matter how one preserves food it is a lot of work but so good to have when times get tight.
SHIRLEY I have 2 meals a day breakfast and Lupper I have to be awake at least an hour before I can eat anything but have 2 mugs full of coffee while being here in the SS. Then eat again around 4:30 before my Skype date with my daughter, cannot eat much later because it will keep me awake.
JENNY I am so happy for you to get that quick trip to see your Dad. I hate the thought of sending our troops to someone else's war to be killed. Reading history seems like there has always been a war someplace.
Have a good day and stay safe.
Good morning..
Yesterday seemed to fly by..little chores that had been put aside were done. I did do the corned beef in the IP and it came out fork tender.
Today, well, not sure how it is going to go....think Kyle has used up most of his lumber. He has 3 trugs on the verandah and one on the lawn. Maybe that will do till we see how things are going to go.
Gloria, you are right about canning etc it is a lot of work but at least you know what is in it and how it was prepared.
Shirley, my friends Mom has wild turkeys coming to her door to be fed. My other friend has a partridge that comes like clock work to get the feed they put out. We all enjoy watching them and the antics they go through.
Jenny, that was a quick visit with your Dad but I bet you enjoyed every minute of it!!
Jane, goodness that is a lot of work but well worth it. Nice to go to the pantry and grab a jar. Hope you had a good nights rest.
Better get ready to meet the day.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
I'm up and attem! The last load of laundry is in the dryer...oops, it just stopped! Another job waiting to be done!
I have the last of the soup ready to be canned and that will be today's job. Maybe tw canners of pints...maybe only one and a half.
Took a minute off and folded the last load of laundry and put it away!
JENNY, how wonderful that your son took you to visit your Dad! I'm so glad to hear that you had a nice visit!
Question: Does anyone have a recipe that uses already cooked beef either with a jar of broth or without? It could be a casserole, a dinner or soup. I'm not fussy. I just want to use up the rest of the beef I cooked. It's already been frozen but one a casserole or soup is made from it, it can be stored safely.
I'm off to the canning room to finish up the veggie soup! I'll check back when I can and see if anyone has an idea! If there's already a recipe posted, point me in the right direction!
It's going to reach 71 degrees today but it's so foggy you can't see your hand in front of your face right now. No Cooper today so no Frankie on the road! YaY!!
I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
Still dark but have the pool lights on & snow is coming down to beat the band! So be it, beautiful big flakes, the kind that stick to the tree branches. Did my running yesterday. I won't be tempted to clean the driveway because the snow blower was drained & put away until next winter season!
Glad I'm not the only one that can't hear, don't want to hear, background talk or noise, even that "thump-thump" the younger radio jocks play while telling the news. I've had a local station tuned in from the time my kids were teens because they gave local accident reports & traffic conditions until 9:00 am (by then my kids were where they were going). Now a younger person is on a lot & I don't understand half what he says because of the sounds he plays in the background. I'm debating whether to make a phone call to explain why we older folks will be changing stations or just give up. The part I listen to has received some national awards & since these changes I haven't talked to an older person that likes it. Got that off my chest bright & early!
Have to wait until 9:00 to call the city person about my 30 day extention. Yesterday was the deadline but when I called I got the voice mail. I left a message since it said she'd call back as soon as possible, but I had to run errands before the kids got here to put the camper away... and you know how that goes, every stop light turned red as I got to it & by the time I got home the kids called & were on their way over. I have stuff stored between my car & the camper that must be moved to get it in & out so a job, then son drained the snow blower to get it out of the garage so more time out of phone range... but I left a message that I would call back for that reason. Then all of a sudden it was past their going home time so I'm a basket case whether I'll get that extention. Stress level is over the top.
I hope the snow melts off fast so I can plug the power back in on the motorhome & make sure both batteries are charged up. Filled my car yesterday & was shocked at how much it cost, didn't have the dollars off per gallon & the total for that little car was unbelievable compared with few months ago prices & no discount! No long trips for me this year. Lloyd, bet your motorhome doesn't get any better mileage than mine!
Amy, I was watching a couple squirrels eating out of the 2 new metal-mesh feeders hanging on the shepherd's hook out front. They live in the sweet gum tree across the streets & couple houses west so I can watch them fill up & race home. The new basket feeders are like playground equipment & when they hop on the baskets swirl around like crazy & they eat the whole time. So far the squirrels are only critters eating those raisins. At one time (before cats) we had lots of rabbits & one got so tame it would take food right out of my hand.
Light enough now to see the trees down along the river are blowing all directions. Hope it blows the snow off instead of breaking the branches down. Can see chunks the size of snowballs falling off the branches now.
So now to feed cats & fix my breakfast. Wishing all a happy day, those days are as scarce as hen's teeth, right? Work on it!
Oops, Jane, you slipped in. My fav meal is some beef & gravy over mashed potatoes & bread cut in in triangle on either side (open face sandwich). Can you make a gravy to can with the meat & instant mashed potatoes work for me when ready to eat, so there you go!
Jane are you talking roast or hamburg??
No snow here...thank goodness. Bright sun and temp. will go up to near 80 deg. More rain coming in tonight with the possibility of high winds or even tornadoes.
I hope we can wind up the car inspection "nonsense" today and get my registration renewed and the vehicle tax paid. New tire is on the car and I can't think what else they could find to refuse to pass the car. There are many good things about living in NC but one of the bad things is everything that the state can think of to tax they do it. I don't know if we pay higher taxes than anywhere else but I think it must be close.
I know we need gov't. regulations otherwise it would be chaos. But, it seems sometimes as though there is nothing that is not taxed.....or HAS to be insured with ever increasing insurance premiums.
OK, rant over. At least for now. Take care, All.
AMY, it's cooked beef roast left over from the veggie soup. I made too much. I have about 4 cups. I think I'll separate it so I can try SHIRLEY's idea but there's a lot of it. A casserole would be nice. I'm really into soup and casseroles these days. They're easy to get past a lip that's half numb and they swallow easy.
Phyllis -
Try N.Y. for high taxes. When they run out of taxes they start with Surcharges and "Fees". For some "fun", look at the detail of one of your Utility Bills or your Phone Bill. About 25% of my cell phone bill is taxes and charges.
Jane, what about Shepherds pie?

well good Morning everyone. ItIs 44º and cloudy here this morning. RAMMEL when you get time I would Like to Know where you live? state rute or town. like we live rule rute Lature Mo. our trash service is on the bulhead mood or strike and Our dumpster is over piled, they are fussing in court, the good one we had sold out and the take over is not cutting the mustard so to speak.it Is a cumity dumpster for severial houses. Now you all were talking about supe. we used to butcher a oldd cow, de bone it,cut It up cook it with little new patoes, and can it in quart jars. that would Make a meal in it,s owen self. when you were cooking or warming Up you could mix a little flour in to thiken it up. Bad for the waste line but feels good inthe tummey. Have a great day.
Lloyd
Jane, here is a few more for you :)

Especially this one,
https://thekitchencommunity.org/leftover-roast-beef-recipes/
NOT SORRY I ASKED!!! I took SHIRLEY'S notes, and makred both of the recipe sits (now a third one) form AMY and PATRICIa. I actually printed one of the recipes called (I think) Leftover Beef Stew and I'm going to try it tomorrow.
The soup is all finished. The last of it is cooling and the the last two canners are waiting to be wiped and labeled and then put away. The kitchen is all cleaned up and the canner is washed, dried, packed up and put away. I'M FINISHED for today!! And I'm already beat!
I'm thinking I'll take Cooper for a walk and pick up my mail and after Frankie picks up Cooper, I'll just collapse! Hope you're all having a good day. Our temps have reached the high 60s and we're supposed to have 71 before they start down for the night.
Interesting, that the new heading is suspiciously similar to my recent searches... https://www.msn.com/en-us/foodanddrink/foodnews/the-secret-ingredient-that-will-change-your-pot-roast-forever/ar-AAVd8gr?ocid=msedgntp
Good Night Everyfriend! The soup is finished and so am I! I'm all in but my shoestrings and they're coming in fast so I'm heading for the haystack. Tomorrow is shopping day with Cathy and I hope it's not too early. It's also Frankie's weekend to work so I'll have Cooper! It's also the weekend for "Leftover Roast Beef Stew" from the recipes to which PATRICIA directed me!
I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. And may God bless us, every one!

Lloyd

Lloyd
Good morning.
Woke to the sound of rain gently falling and crows belting out their caws!
Managed to get a lot of rearranging done in the basement yesterday, still more to do and just maybe that will be done today. Laundry day ,baking and the neighbour stopped by yesterday with a huge bag of red potatoes so may can some. Have my work cut out for me but we shall see what does or doesn't get done.
Neighbour saw 3 robins in his yard so they are here and I heard the geese the other day so they are starting to come back.
Better get going..
Enjoy your day and stay safe
Good Morning LLOYD and AMY and anyone who arrives later. I'm off to the showers to get ready for my shopping trip with Cathy. This one will include a haricut at WM while she does some shopping. I'll give her my (very short) list and she can get some of the stuff I need while I sit in the "hair cuttery".
I also have my bed stripped and I'm washing the sheets and removing at least one blanket. It was hot in there the last few nights. And it's supposed to be in the 50s and 60s all week. You don't suppose that Spring has Sprung at last, do you?
I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
We are expecting wind and rain this afternoon and the temp. is supposed to climb to 81 deg. I hope David can get to the grocery store and pick up my order before the rain starts.
You are right, Rammel. New York taxes are higher than NC. We lived 28 years in New York (Dutchess Co.) and I remember griping about the taxes when we lived there. But, I think with all of us New Yorkers moving here North Carolina is trying to catch up with you.
Shirley, I think you mentioned bird flu has appeared in KS. The news said this morning that it is here in NC, too. They are warning everyone to keep their chickens penned inside the chicken house for awhile. I don't have chickens but some in this town have permits to have backyard chicken houses. Not me....they are too much work. When I was young my mother had chickens to help feed the family during the Depression. It was my job to collect the eggs and I hated it. Those cranky hens would peck the dickens out of me and the rooster would always chase me. I still don't much like chickens. :(
Amy, I took your suggestion and orered a corned beef roast yesterday. I'll put it in the IP for tomorrow's dinner. Without cabbage.....potatoes instead. I would like to make some corned beef hash with the leftovers. Mother used to make it and I loved it!
[EDIT:]Well.....cross off the Corned Beef. The store just called and said they were out of it. I guess I'll have to defrost some steaks for tomorrow.
Take care, All.
Boo hoo.....
No corned beef for you, PHYLLIS 😩😩. I am sorry.
Our corned beef turned out spectacular. We sous vide'd it for 10 hours and it was the most tender and juiciest I have ever had. I want to go buy another one, but might find out we can't find one either😩😩
JANE, a haircut always makes me feel so much better. I dread going and wait as long as I can.....don't know why🤷
YEA AMY......seeing robins is definitely a sign that spring is on the way🥰🥰. We had 7 inches of snow on St.Patrick's Day and Monday we are to get even more of that white stuff‼️‼️
We have been invited to go out to dinner tonight with our son and grandsons. What fun.....going out into the world to eat just like we used to do. He said, "don't forget to bring your vaccine card"!
Have a good rest f your day.
Jenny
Jenny, what happed with us that can't take the vaccine but have antibody tests ... mine from before Christmas & before 4th of July, does that count I wonder? I haven't pushed to find out but do feel like I'm doing something wrong. :'( Enjoy the dinner out with "the kids".
We have rain to move in Monday & Tuesday. I just put jacks down & slide-out and even put the awning out to dry from the snow this week. Wanted to make sure everything works as it should before anyone stops to see it. I've Googled for days to know what to price & am confident no other will have had all the TLC this one has had. 6 basically new tires, new rubber roof & new battery (aux. checked out okay). I hated to part with the Rialta but have loved this one even more. Of course there is that thing about gas prices... ::)
Phyllis, I can't remember last time I had corned beef, I do like brisket but never ever could make it as tender & tastey as my sister & sister-in-law. I tried every recipe and decided my ego couldn't handle another failure so would never try again. I'm pretty good at eating it. ;)
I need to trim my hair before washing it tonight.... this is the growing seasong and also shedding season for me as well as fur babies. Grass starting to green up & even have one jonquil blooming today & few more ready to pop. I'll bring them in tomorrow, no warning of a freeze but where these grow I can't see from my bird watching window (over the sink). I have lots of little vases that fit on the window sill so enjoy when things start to bloom. Better go walk the cats to the river, have some bread to offer the fish if they have returned.
Hello All Y'all! We covered a lot of territory today. We started out at 10..made a stop at the library and then across the road to the pet store. Hopped back in the car and made stop at Davy's. Then we went back to my house and stowed my stuff, put some of Cathy's stuff in the fridge, had some lunch, took Cooper for a short walk and then back in the car. We went to WM and I hit the hair cuttery while Cathy shopped for more groceries. When I left a lot of my hair, I headed for the card section and got all the cards I needed for April. Then we came home.
Cathy offered to take me to Kohl's but I gave that one up. I seem to leave my energy in the stores when we shop around like today! I remember the old days when I'd drive to my sister's in the Harrisburg area and we'd head for the stores and make a day of it on her side of the river. Then the next day we'd head across the river and hit the mall and sometimes downtown Harrisburg stores. Just thinking of that makes me tired.
JENNY, nice to have dinner out with the family. I bet that was neat!
SHIRLEY, sounds like you had a busy day, too!
PHYLLIS, I bet the Corned Beef was sold out because of St. Paddy's Day! Everyone went traditional!
And speaking of going...I'm going to the haystack! I have to be up and attem to meet my ride to church in the morning! I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. And may God bless us, every one!
Good Morning to myself and anyone else who shows up in here! I'm off to take Cooper for a walk and then get myself ready for church! Have a good day!
Good morning...
First day of Spring and it is overcast..with the promise of more rain. Snow is going down fast but there is still 12+ about.
A day of rest here, may play in the sewing room. I am sure the sewing machine will laugh when I tickle her to life!
Jane, hope you can also have a quiet day..
Shirley, when we sold our 5th wheel we took it to a company that sold them and he had more traffic for that line of trailer than we would have here. Yes, he took his cut but he got an asking price higher than we would.
Jenny, please keep the snow your way. I think we are more that ready to see green grass but that won't be for a while yet.
Phyllis ,steaks will taste just as good! Are you having mushrooms or fried onions or both with them?
Patricia, good morning to you.
Better skedaddle..
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good morning everyone. Would have liked to have had the AC installed yesterday. in the upper 60s and on the humid side. Had fans going all day and night, the noise I am not used to yet so did not sleep good.
JANE I agree with you, spring is here at last, HOORAY. Summer does not have to rush though, spring never lasts long enough.
PHYLLIS I always liked corned beef hash but when my family was all home there was never enough left to make hash.
JENNY pretty bad when we have to start carrying a vaccine card with us. Glad I stay home most of the time. Really too much trouble getting ready to go anywhere.
JANE I remember the days when friends and I would go into Providence going into all the stores, going to our favorite Chinese restaurant and then get down to really shopping. I would not have the energy to go into one store anymore.
AMY you keep the onions and I will take the mushrooms with my steak. ALL the snow we had left is gone now.
Have a goo day and stay safe.
Good Morning everyone. IT Is 42º and clear here this morning @ 7:31 AM. No brease at All now. Not a limb even a wiggle in any of the trees. we have two Robbiens hoping in the front yard picking at somenthing In the grass. also a few of those Little snow birds shareing the yard with them. Hope you all have a good day as you like it. I have already taken mmy Vitals and sent the readings along to VA. i am gettin raady to go tune in the preacher at our church live. and finde a snack for brekfeast.
Lloyd
Good morning Gloria you slipped in while I was typing. Have a good ay also.
Lloyd
There was A little red bird landed in the tree out front, the brigeht's Red I have ever seean. It sat quiet of a while before it flew away. I enjoy setting here it the office watching the birds come and o nd there thing eating in the gras.
Lloyd
:coffee:
Going to say good night early, storms supposed to move in & my eyes are already at half mast so not sure how long I will be awake. Callie is still outside so will get her in before it rains. Nothing going on in Kansas right now.
Hope everyone had a nice week end, always special if family shows up, right?
Lloyd, maybe it is the year for bright cardinals, we've had one that is so bright, but I can't get a good photo of it through all the glass & if I open a door to go out it flies off. Could be I'm seeing better since having the cataracts removed. ;)
Amy, I've watched people & even had one of the dealers tell me that he had trouble letting people go through the motorhomes without a sales person standing guard. With all the electronics & stuff inside I want to make sure everything stays working as long as it is mine.
I had a fall last night, feet got tangled with my little corner by the stove where I watch TV on a bar stool & put feet on the little Coleman step stool that has to stay handy so I can reach stuff on the top shelf.... all on a little carpet because the bar stool was scruffing the dark oak flooring. I landed hard on one knee & braced my body with one arm & felt the jolt that shoulder got, went all the way down ... and thought about Jenny's long time problem. Didn't see any bruises & was able to pop right back up so nothing broken, but I sure felt the pain right below the knee when I climbed into bed. Today I'm fine, no aches or pains anywhere so I'm almost glad it happened to know I can still bounce pretty good. I am ready for bed, busy day doing nothing.
A good night prayer for all, sweet dreams & God Bless.
This was one of those days that I was busy all day but I have no idea what I did! Frankie was going to spend the night but she said she was too tired to go home and pack up her stuff so she just picked up Cooper and went home to loaf. It must have been one of THOSE days!
It was foggy and chilly out there all day! One of the types of Spring days that are NOT among my favorites!
I'm heading for the haystack before my eyes enter the full slam shut mode! I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. And may God bless us, every one. And may he bring peace to the Ukraine soon!
Shirley I am glad your eyes are dooing better for you.I have cataracts also but they say mine are not blocking my eye sight bad enough. so I am just living with it. good night and sweet dreams.
Lloyd
Good morning..
Yesterday I looked after the neighbours critters and when the dog went out he wandered over to an area that had about 2 inches of water. I looked out this morning and most of it has gone!
Today is getting those potatoes canned, and doing little chores around home.
Jane, since yesterday was a day of rest my eyes slammed shut in the afternoon for a while. I am with you on peace in the Ukraine, it is needed now!
Shirley, I hope the market is good for selling for you. With gas prices the way they are there may be a lot of campers on the market.
Gloria , one of the things I want to try in the air fryer is a blooming onion..have watch videos of making them and one of these days will do it.
Patricia. :cup:
Better get ready to meet the day.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning Everyfriend! Today Cooper will be coming a bit later. Frankie is off but she's hitting the mall to look for a dress for her brother Daniel's Wedding in April. She has one she's keeping if she doesn't find one but she's not particularly happy with it.
When she gets back we're having SHIRLEY'S "Mashed potatoes and gravy with the leftover beef mixed into the gravy" for supper! She loves mashed potatoes but I'm not a real fan of them. I can have them or not!
It's 41 and sunny heading for a high of 61 in the afternoon with mid to high 50s the rest of the day. I think it might be Spring!
I better get moving or nothing will get done around here! I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
Good Morning everyone, well I am up and vitals taken and sent to VA. It Is clear and 54ºF here this morning. Not sure what I am going try to do to Make the day a good one yet. hope all you have a day just like you Like it.
Lloyd
In the 30's here when I got up at 7 o'clock. Supposed to go up into the low 70's. It is definitely Spring here. Redbuds are in bloom...daffodils have come and gone and the backyard azaleas are all blooming with pink, white, and red. I have about 40 azalea bushes back there that Tom and I planted many years ago. All of them need to be pruned. :tickedoff:
Take care, All.
Good Morning everyone from the
warmer, dry and sunny '
Rocky Coast of Maine.
Welcome Spring!
The weather here is getting warmer
daily, unfortuantely we get a lot
of wind this time of the year
and that affects us older folks,
making it harder to breath sometimes.
I am doing well. Still wearing a mask
and will be for some time.
I am glad that we are coming into the Spring
and Summer Fall months which are much easier
to get around than the icy slippery and
snowy walkways..
Great time of the year here.

Sandy
Phyllis, your yard sounds beautiful. I picked my ONE daffodil that was blooming, not sure why the stems are so short. We had a shower just now, I swear the grass is greener already!
Callie spent the night out & got in just before the rain, had her milk & I ate a couple pieces of French toast I made this morning. Had a loaf of bread that needed to be used.
Good Morning, Friends! This is the best sleeping weather EVER so may take advantage as soon as I clean up the kitchen.
Gloria, have you any idea or tip from Regina when the hills & mountains in AZ/NM start blooming? I want to dream of driving thru........
Hi, Sandy!
Good morning from an Interior that is not having spring weather. While the snow has a softer look and is slowly diminishing, it was minus 22 when I got up this morning. It's warmed up to a minus 19, almost two hours later, and heading to a high of plus 17. A forecast of severe cold is given until Wednesday, the 23rd when it is expected to slowly warm. If this is spring, it's the oddest and worse I've seen in my years here.
I've had my coffee and my morning round of check-in calls and texts, and nothing looming except for general chores and vacuuming. These 24 months of the shutdown have gotten to me and yet we had another week of over 100 new covid cases. It's split here with the number of non-mask wearers slowly increasing yet none seem to connect the steady case rise to the lack of precautions. I guess I can't expect humanity to go against type.
Yippie! We made it to plus one.
Have no idea of there was an attachment with this?? So I deleted the post.
The day did turn out nice here also..next will be those pesky flies coming awake!!
Will go over in a bit and feed the neighbours critters.
I hope tomorrow will as nice and just maybe some windows and curtains will be washed.
Hello Everyfriend! SHIRLEY, Frankie had your mashed potatoes with gravy and leftover roast beef in it for supper tonight and she's taking the leftovers for tomorrow.
I had beef stew for lunch from one of PATRICIA'S recipes and it was gooooo-ooood! There's more for tomorrow. I only did half a recipe so maybe two more meals! I had fried red cabbage for supper. Had to use it up so that's how it went!
Today was a beautiful day...made it to the low 70'1 and we did two walks with no coat! The grass is getting green all over the neighborhood and Cooper is in his "stay out in the yard" mood! He loves coming over here because he can go outside with no leash!
Dishes are all done and I'm beat. Gonna watch some TV and hit the haystack early! Enjoy the rest of your day!
Jane, I'm so glad Frankie enjoyed the "open faced sandwich".... Did I mention that a drug store in downtown Sedalia, MO served that meal almost any time of day? Any time I had the money I would stop & I honestly don't remember if it was "any time of day" or if only certain days of the week, but always a favorite & didn't have to struggle with veggies, either! I did package meal size "Ziploc tubs" for the freezer for when I was alone & hungry for something home cooked. Surprising how quick a small frozen tub will thaw & heat in a microwave in a motorhome, whether in a campground or Walmart parking (on the fringe of lot & only turn on the generator for a few minutes to use the microwave. The thrill of camping is discovering what you CAN do and not what can't be done.
It rained all day and the grass got greener by the hour. I did go feed the birds & squirrels to watch their antics in the rain. Food isn't play time so took some out so nobody had to go hungry. The squirrel ate every raisin, one by one holding in it's hands so I knew it was really hungry. The swimming pool is full enough it's holding the cover UP with water standing on top. Won't be long till that cover comes off & cleaning starts.
Sweet dreams and God Bless All. Almost dark but cloudy so not sure if time to be dark. I am still struggling with daylight savings time & all. My crazy atomic clock is back to correct time but day of week showed up as SAM instead of Sat, SUN WAS SON but MON is right on. When I messed with it I had everything wrong, turned upside down on the table & went to bed. Got up & time was right & now even day of week right. Life is good! :smitten:
From MaryPage
I am sure every single one of you saw and heard it, but Just In Case!
The adorable little Ukrainian girl who sang the song from "Frozen" for the people in the bomb shelter has escaped to Poland, and there she sang before a HUGE audience for a fund raiser. She sang the Ukrainian national anthem, all by herself up there on the stage and a cappella. I wanted to cry. One little tiny snaggle-toothed girl, representing all of the Ukrainian nation and its people with their hopes. She stood up there and spat squarely in Poo-tins eye. She perfectly epitomized the spirit of that nation! You can Google it in video if you missed it. Grab a Kleenex first.
From Rick,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KrI7jPWzHzA
Mary Page, I sent that link to my kids... 2 of my kids have grands that age so the news is making them sick to think of what those kids are going thru.... and this will get to them. Such a brave little girl to be able to sing in the middle of the turmoil. Thanks to you & Rick for the link.
I came to look up on Amazon how one of the personal alarms works, to put a new battery in & found my order (2020) & discovered it is rechargable!! I remembered seeing the box not long ago so dug it out & sure enough, has the charging cord in it. Plugged in & says only needs half an hour to charge so... I'm pleased! I've never had to use it because of being scared, but will grab one of them when a robo calls to drown out who ever has to monitor the calls. They are much louder than I could scream, for sure.
Most important today ---- I decided winter is over. The grass has greened up in the last 2 or 3 days. Soon I'll be complaining about having to cut it.
Sleep well all.
Good morning..
Yesterday was a lovely day, we will take more of those!
Today is a mixed bag of things that need to be done. Some will be done others will just have to wait their turn.
No flowers poking up here everything is still under a bed of snow.
Patricia, thank you for sharing MaryPage's story and Rick's link to it. We think we have a lot to complain about here but tis nothing to what the Ukrainians are going through. I also passed the link on.
Rick, very little grass poking up here and when it does it too will take of and then beg to be cut.
Shirley, I like that the fitbit can be charged by a charger....no replacing batteries there either.
Better shake a leg and move it.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
I'm up and attem...well, I'm up! Attem might come along later!
Frankie spent the night and she's off to work, Cooper is napping and I've had my breakfast. Next will be getting dressed and going for a walk together! The rest of the day will be one of those that jobs poke up their heads and demand attention. There's a load of laundry in and it just finished it's last spin and is demanding the dryer. So that's next on the "Do-it" Slate! I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
Good morning JaneS and AMY and any one else that follows today.my computer Is still not up to date, it is saying yesterday,s post as today. It is 51º and cloudy here . well Nancy called me to eat, so I went and ate morning meal. oatmeal and tost with some orange juse drink. so I should be ready to face the day. hope you all have a good day, Nancy has gave me orders to work on the raised beds and get them ready to plant earley seeds in. so I guse I best miend and do it.
Lloyd
Good morning. For the first time since we changed the clocks I slept later. Do not know who or if or what time a CNA will be here.
Well guess what CNA here so will send to market, need milk and some cereal and a few things so will give me time to now get dressed. Hope I can do better tomorrow.
Have a good day and stay safe.
It has taken me several hours to feed cats & myself, not even dressed yet. Have a list a mile long of "to-dos" so first is dress & get all those bills in the mail (I know, I wouldn't have to write checks & mail if I'd use a credit card BUT....) I got all the checks written last night, stamps on & ready to go.
Want to get a bucket of grass seed out of the shed to throw on the bare spots in the front yard, that sweet gum tree raises up with roots close to the surface & no grass over a whole area near the trunk. I will scratch the dirt before throwing the seed in & even if a little grows it's better than nothing. The yard people around here want to kill off all the grass & then dig up to start all over, OR they want to sod.
In the 33 years living here I've watched quite a few houses do that & in 2 years the yards are back to weeds & mixture of grasses because the birds leave their droppings with the weed seeds from the river bank. Just a fact. So I will try my way.
Having a nice yard was Cas' thing, he loved doing it & always had the best grass for an Easter egg hunt than anyone else. My thing was fixing & dying 12 dozen eggs to hide, along with boxes of the wrapped Lil'Debbies & a few toys. I even put money, coins inside those plastic eggs for the kids to find. The 7 grands & later the 7 gr-grands were near enough the same age it was so fun to watch them, and the Dads (big boys) had every bit as much fun hiding everything. We had a rule that all eggs went back into the cartons to make sure nothing left behind to get rotten ...
Then the big girls & I would turn those eggs into deviled along with a ham & we'd have lunch. One year it came out in the paper that for some reason the shells were especially difficult to peel, and they were. The paper blamed the eggs were "too new", but after boiling & deviling a bunch of eggs fresh out of the nest (from next door), that can't be the problem! Those fresh eggs just popped off almost whole. We ended the hunts & gatherings at out house when Cas was too weak to work in the yard & didn't want the noise & uproar of everyone around. Nice memories......
Gotta get busy. It is cloudy, spotty showers around Wichita & snow not far west of us. It has crossed my mind often that Jackie hasn't posted in quite a while. Anyone heard from her? I hope she is still enjoying the new home & people, just busy. Haven't heard from Peter in a long time, fond memories of all the Friends we've met over the years.
Oops, you slipped in Gloria and also Lloyd, I forgot to post this (went to get the mail & check on cats) so better move along. I'm going to make a big pot of chicken noodle soup and also chicken salad for the next door neighbor on the day he has his hip replaced. They will be busy taking care of him & figure soup & sandwiches will be good when they settle down that night (25th). I got the impression it is almost out patient surgery anymore.
What a lovely day it is turning out to be....tomorrow is rain and or freezing rain. :(
Do you remember the tv commercial and it said "What is a nice girl like you doing in a place like this"? That is what I am doing.....cleaning my oven... We do have a self cleaning one but it doesn't clean the way I like it clean.
Good Night Everyfriend! My eyes have already entered slam shut mode and I'm tired right up the gazoo! I really don't know what I did to make me so tired other than two walks with Cooper that were twice the length our walks usually were. He just wasn't ready to come in and it was so nice out that I gave him his head!
AMY, we're supposed to get rain tomorrow but there's no way it will freeze. The low is supposed to be around 38 or 39 and that's early in the morning before daylight. The rest of the day is in the mid to high 40s! Spring has sprung!
I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow! And may God bless us and watch over the Ukranians!
Well It Is time for me to bid you all good Night and sweet dreams.
Lloyd
Rain stopped, been what we needed, but this cold wind is NOT pleasant! Nearly froze my body off when I ran my errands. Bedtime again and hope everyone has a Wonderful Wednesday (got that, Callie?) Sweet dreams & God Bless. Shirley
Good morning. I woke too early and now ready for a nap. All I have done is have my coffee and a breakfast bar. Today is the one day out of the week I know who and the time CNA will be here and this one is the only one who will wash her hands when she comes in. The others look like I insult them about washing hands. Try telling them and asking if they have see on TV how they stress washing hands with this darn Covid. There I go complaining again, sorry.
AMY for all the years I have been here-almost 8 the oven is still clean I mostly use my microwave or toaster oven.
JANE I was in bed early last night, must have been sound asleep by 8:30, no wonder I was awake in the middle of the night.
LLOYD hope you slept good last night.
SHIRLEY Tooo early for news /weather here but last night did not mention rain. I did check the weather on this PC and is was 29.
Darn lost the degree sign again.
Have a good day and stay safe.
Good morning..
No rain yet and I hope it holds off till we get back home from picking up lumber.
Another day of doing what didn't get done other days.
Jane, we had your cole slaw last night with fish, chips and a veggie. Kyle and I really enjoy it and more will be done this year. Nice to just go get a jar and open it.
Gloria, I try not to make a mess cooking in the oven but the one pie you don't think will run over will!!You're not complaining you're stating a fact and they especially should know better.
Better get ready to meet the day.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning Everyfriend! I've been up since 6:15 and I'm already into this day! Cooper arrived about 6:45, had his breakfast with me and then I got dressed and we took a walk. Now I'm ready to begin doing "stuff" today.
GLORIA, AMY is right! Of all people who enter your home, the CNA's should know best that they need to wash their hands. I sometimes forget but I am happy to be reminded.
AMY, I'm glad you like the Cole Slaw. I do, too and since I got a reminder, I'm going to open a jar today!
LLOYD, have a great day!
Also on my list today is finishing my library book. It's getting down to the wire where you wonder how they're going to get out of their jam! It's a mystery...WWII spy stuff!
I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow! And Peace to the Ukranians!
I finished a book yesterday, too, Jane, before the library could take it back from me because other people are waiting for it. "The Last Bookshop in London". WW2, also, but about the incredible people who got through the London Blitz. Good book.
Rain coming this afternoon with thunderstorms and wind. I hope it won't be like what hit New Orleans last night. I enjoy the flowers of Spring but I do NOT like the storms!
Take care, All.
Good Morning everyone. well thanks for the good wishes, I went to bed very late last night again. I got into the good moovie of swis famley roberson and it put me to bed. so I slept in again I just got up at8:25 AM. we had hard rain in the night there are watter puddles standing all over yard back one and front. Have a good day.

Good Interior morning to everyone! It's plus one and windy with a mountain pass wind advisory this morning at 7. Today is the hopefully turning day of warmth. But I'm no longer sure of anything, especially weatherwise today.
There's nothing new here, perhaps a chore or two, some laundry, but that's pushing it. I've settled into a new sleep pattern, early to bed, 10:30 usually, and early to rise, around five.
Locally, everything is still shut down, and any medical is a needs must type of situation. Besides certain businesses needed, the only places open are the larger grocery store malls, and someone said the library reopened.
Everything is still shut or locked down in this building, and any meetings are conducted over emails or the phone. In a surprising and hopeful trend, we had only six new Covid cases in the week ending March 20th after 106 new cases the week before. Let's hope this isn't an anomaly.
Many years ago when we had wonder lust we stopped at a place called Vegreville Alberta...they have the worlds largest Ukrainian Easter egg called a Pysanka..that rotates with the wind.

Hello all! Frankie got off early today with pay. O fprget whu but she was here in time for a late lunch and she finished up the beef soup made from the leftover veggie soup meat.
For supper, I made a shrip and grits supper and from a recipe I found on line and it was really good. I have three more dinners saved and we'll see if they get frozen or eaten.
Now I'm off to the haystack! My eyes have already entered slam shut mode and I missed the middle of a Perry Mason show.
I finished my library book and if you like spy stories, I recommend Jack Higgins! You won't be able to put it down and the end is always a surprise!
PHYLLIS, I wrote down the name of the book you read and I'm going to look for it when we go to the Library on Saturday!
Now I'm off to sleep! I wish you all a peaceful night and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one! And may he look after the Ukraine!
Good morning
Rain began last evening and continues into today.
Looks like I need to more laundry, that never ends here.
I want to make refrigerator bran muffin mix and have on hand.
My friend and I both ordered jelly rolls (fabric 2 1/2 " strips) along with coordinating fabric and so far the Irish chain pattern is the only one we have so far come up with to show off the fabric. May play with that later on.
Jane, I did get the potatoes done ended up with 16 pints and a bit left over for dinner. I used the apple peeler and it worked out fine, I did have a bit of hand work but not much and the job went faster.
Phyllis, storms bother Babe but thanks to Janes recommendation on the Pet Rescue she is much better now.
Patricia, masks wearing has been lifted here but a lot of people are still wearing them .Restaurants are no longer asking to see your QR code either.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning Everyfriend! I'm up and attem today. Cooper arrived a bit ago and we had breakfast together...well, I didn't get down on the floor and I didn't allow him on the table but we ate at the same time!
He's ready for his walk now but he has to wait for full daylight and that gives me time to finish this and get dressed! I'm not sure what else is on the agenda for today but I'm sure "stuff" will crop up!
AMY, good about finding an easier way to peel potatoes and nice to have them "ready to eat". Good job!
I'm off to the showers! I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow. And I wish the same for the Ukraine!!!!!
Stormy morning here. I'd like to go back to bed but, I have things to do.
I got started on the taxes yesterday. Gosh, I hate that job!
Take care, All.
It is one year ago today when I fell at the airport in Tulsa OK‼️‼️ This year has been nothing but a huge challenge......loosing our Michele....two shoulder surgeries 😩😩🤪. Today I go for my EMG test to find out why I can not lift my arm🤷 I am dreading it, and yet I want to know WHY, so I can hopefully move nwith a working shoulder🙏‼️🙏‼️
Although I have not responded to the many interesting subjects you all write about, I sure enjoy reading them.
SHIRLEY, reading about your fall sent shooting pain throughout my body. I am very thankful you did not break any bones or dislocate your shoulder🤪🤪‼️‼️ I have often thought about my fall and realize I could do that same fall again and not hurt a thing🤷🤷
My thought at the time was..."I will just get up and get on my plane"‼️
We had horrible winds here yesterday. There were two avalanches on mountain passes they say were caused by the wind😩
AMY, I love red potatoes and sure wish someone would bring some by to share with me 🤪🤪 Good for you getting some cleaning out done. We have done a little here also but I peter out pretty quickly.
YEA, PATRICIA..... your temperature made it to + one‼️ Burrr. Around here they are pretty much acting like Covid is over! We are still wearing our masks too, Sandy.
RICK, I am so glad winter is officially over. Now if old man winter will just behave and bring on our spring showers‼️🌷
JANE, I would have enjoyed your mashed potatoes and gravy with the roast! Bob and I were lucky to enjoy this meal with Shirley a few years back when we met her in the mountains of CO. It was delicious.
Have a good day EVERYFRIEND.
Jenny
Well I will have to say good Mid day. I just got up a couple minutes till 12 noon.I wathed severiak of the lonsem dove moovies , was midnight before I gave up and went too bed. and went to sleep. so I realey slept in. and I have my usual haed akce. I could go to bed with no prolbem,s. we Had hard rain with thunder boomers through the night, the watter puddlesare full front yards both. I hope we all have good day's. see you all later today.
Lloyd
Good midmorning, 9:15 AM, from an Interior at plus one. We're heading toward a high of plus 35, a low of plus seventeen, and a high tomorrow expected at plus 42.
Tomorrow and the following week will be uncomfortable as I will be hanging about with Farrah in my bedroom. Notices were sent out that all balconies must be cleared as the construction crews will return to finish adding the screens and screen doors to our balcony doors. I hope, unrealistically, that they will start on the fifth floor and work their way around and down.
I have only potting soil on my balcony so no big deal as I have an extra inside 33-gallon tub, however, the notice had this message, "This includes all large items such as mattresses, couches, or anything preventing access to the deck and screen door area." I had believed that those larger items were against balcony rules?
It continues, "Dog waste on your balconies is a violation of your lease, and evidence of animal waste on your deck will be reported to management and will result in a violation with a notice to correct the condition.", It concludes by saying that balcony access will be denied while work is being finished. All of this makes me wonder about how many folks have been not following the rules of what can and cannot be done on the balconies.
Good morning Everyone rain finally got here and I felt it before I even opened my eyes this morning. I know now it is afternoon but I woke late and just started here when the CNA got here, too. A mixed up day and I do not like days like this. She is at the CVS store now so will be back soon. If my post is very short at least you know I am still alive and kicking.
JANE the Wednesday CNA is the only one who washes her hands and the others I have to remind. At least the one today is OK when I remind her. I have 2 different sanitizer bottles in here and they never even look at them, Fran carries her own. I enjoy those "Who Dun It" books that keep you guessing till the end. I have got some books from the library downstairs that sound/read good on the first page so will take it home. By the 4th page I already know the ending without reading anymore. I only get the paperback books now the hard cover ones are too hard for me to handle, have to sit where I can prop the book up so I do not have to hold it. I like sitting comfortable when I read.
PHYLLIS once I see and smell the lilacs in bloom I believe it is spring.
LLOYD I went fishing with my husband once and caught my first fish, not even big enough to keep I yelled and he came to get it off the hook, I though it was a snake, every time he took me there the first thing I would see was snakes and I am very scared of them. That was it for me. Years later my oldest son worked on his future FIL's fishing boat and he invited us out for a day of fishing. OK I had something on the line and my son helped me bring it is and it was an eel. To me it was a snake so again that ended my fishing and I just enjoyed the ride out in the Atlantic ocean.
PATRICIA the manager has eased on the wearing of masks but would appreciated if visitors would wear theirs. No one is allowed in her office either. Knock on her door and she will unlock the game room and that's where she interviews anyone. There is a plexiglas partition on the middle of the table with a cut through at the bottom where she passes papers through to be signed and there is a pen there so she does not have to touch one. There is now 3 game nights again, one is bingo and the 2 others are card games. There is a Pot Luck dinner scheduled and I will pass on that, too. I cannot make anything to bring and will not go with empty hands with title of Free Loader. I have heard the talk often enough after one of those dinners when the "cats" are busy saying did you see what she brought she ate? Or did you see him bring a box of Devil Dogs and take so much home with him
JENNY add my oldest grandson and me to the mashed potatoes Beef and gravy and we will be happy, specially if the gravy is home made.
Never had a post take so long to finish. CNA left at 2:30 so now I can go lay on the cough and maybe have 40 winks?
Have a good rest of the day and sleep great tonight.
Day is Done...
Frankie loved SHIRLEY'S beef, gravy and mashed potatoes idea. She had two helpings here and took the leftovers home with her. She also liked the beef stew I made from one of PATRICIA or AMY's recipes. I did, too!
Daughter Christy, Mother of the Groom-to-be, asked me if I had a certain family necklace. She sort of thought it would be nice to offer it to the Bride-to-Be for her "borrowed" item for the wedding. I have already given that one to my daughter Cathy but I had two others from my mother and grandmother and I took pictures of them and offered them to be borrowed. She sent the pictures to Edith with the offer and Edith chose my grandmother's crystals. She was so moved by the offer, she was crying and Christy said she's going to call me to thank me!
PATRICIA, when your temps go up they really GO UP! Sounds like Spring is coming to
Alaska!
GLORIA, I went fishing once! I sat on a dock and held a fishing pole while the fish ate my bait and my 8 year old son caught 2 fish! Needless to say, I'm not a fisherman either. But I have cooked many fresh caught fish for my son while he was growing up.
LLOYD, you did have a good night's sleep last night! I wish I could just sleep through one night!
Now I'm going to hit the haystack and see how long I can sleep. Thank goodness it doesn't take me long to go back to sleep when I do wake in the middle of the night! I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. And may God bless us, every one! And may HE give His hand and His love to the Ukraine!
Good morning...
Wet day here ,maybe we shall see sunshine later today.
Not sure what is happening today...lots of work about to do but... ::)
I love fishing, Dad and I would go out picking dew worms the night before and 6 am we were off to the lake. He never came home skunked. In winter we would make sinkers and jigs by melting down lead and pouring it into a mold.
Gloria, I took your idea on blueberry pie and made one a two crust one with canned blueberry pie filling and adding in more fresh blueberries. Turned out pretty good and I will be using your idea from here on in.
Jane, took stock of my canned soup and I had better get some made and canned. Want to do it before the weather gets way too hot.
Patricia, hope they get your place done and move on so both you and Farrah can get back to a normal day.
Jenny ,I think this should be a much better year for you and your family. Hope you get good news from your EMG test.
Phyllis, taxes are a necessary evil. We have ours in at the bookkeepers now it is a wait and see.
Lloyd, hope you had a good nights sleep.
Better get ready here
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning Everyfriend! Morning has broken here and Cooper is waiting patiently for his morning walk. I'll have to go get dressed and take him pretty soon or he'll tell me about it.
It rained most of the night here but has now stopped and is not supposed to rain again until one day next week...I forget which one. Cooper will be staying with me for the weekend because Frankie is heading for Harrisburg where she will meet her mother and they will be looking for a dress for her to wear at the wedding. She's getting down to the wire on this one!
JENNY, I see I neglected to wish you well at your Dr. appt. I hope he finds something he can treat and you will soon recover the use of your arm. It's no fun not to have that and I'm sure all forget to be thankful for that.
AMY, enjoy the pie! Blueberries have never been one of my favorites. I picked them at my grandmother's farm but it's one that I didn't eat while picking. And I always said "No Thank You" for the pies that she made with them.
I better get myself dressed. Cooper is still waiting patiently for his walk but I'm sure he's ready. I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
I know taxes are necessary, Amy, and this year it looks like I might get a refund so I like that a lot. I just hate having to do them and always worrying that I haven't missed anything. I used to have an accountant do mine but I thought that David and I could do my fairly straight forward return and not have to pay several hundred dollars to her. And, after one year when I had to pay her high price and on top of that I had to pay a large amount in taxes, I decided I could do it myself with the help of Turbo Tax and online filing and save the much bigger cost of preparation.
Gotta' go eat breakfast. Take care, All.
I think of so many things to talk about as I read over your messages but got away from taking notes & so forget. Bad me...
I did go fishing with my father as well, Amy, he loved fishing & hunting & somehow my brothers didn't get around to going with him, only one liked to fish or hunt at all. We had large catfish at the area of the lake my parents cabin was & also some of the creeks in central MO. The spoonbill cat were the monsters, I was around when someone caught a huge one like Lloyd talked about. I caught a big "flat head", I think Dad called it, but it took Dad & several other men to pull it out of the water hole it got stuck in. I didn't take credit for it but Dad raved about ME catching it. Not sure how much it weighed but seemed to grow every time Dad talked about it! :smitten:
Have a slight green cast to ground & trees this morning, surprises me how much things can change over night. I spread half a bucket of seed under the sweet gum tree yesterday & will wait to see if it sprouts at all before doing the whole yard. Had a couple bags in the shed ever since Cas died (almost 9 years) so may be wasted effort, but seems it is NOT going to grow in the bag so may as well put it in the yard, you think? I hand watered the patch where I planted but will turn on sprinklers if I do the whole yard.
Put out the slide & awning on the motorhome yesterday, to dry off the snow melt of a few days ago. Left the slide out so I can clean out, sad to think of not going to CO again, I do enjoy the Lake in MO but just not the same. Jenny, get better & maybe we can still find some place to vist one of these days!
Jane, am smiling to myself, blueberries are not a fav of mine either but almost feel un- patrotic for saying that, EVERYBODY loves blueberries! Even my mother loved them, but Dad's favorite berries were strawberries & he'd eat a bowl with cream over & just smile. Besides the tiny wild ones that grew everywhere around us, he always kept a patch growing & fought the birds for the red ones. He rigged up a piece of green garden hose to an old rotisserie motor that would twist that piece of green rubber like a snake, had it stretched through the patch of strawberries & those birds stayed away!
Been sitting here thinking/remembering and better get a move on or won't get a thing done today. Enjoy your day, Every Friend.... we don't get to do a make over!
Good morning everyone, had a time getting to sleep last night so got up and read till almost 4 am. Now I have had one cup of coffee and will need another one to finish waking. When I pulled the shade in the BR up I saw a moving truck outside, someone else moving out.
JANE I did not care for fishing either, I think it was being outside and away from house work that I enjoyed. I know one reason I liked camping was because cleaning and cooking were easy. One thing that worries me is I hope our troops don't get sent out to fight again in someone else's war. I worry it will weaken our country and open it up to attack. Now that really scares me and the Ukraine and all those innocent people of all ages being killed is inhumane. Imagine bombing hospitals and killing the sick inside. Hitler returned?
AMY it is dry here but not really sunny yet. I looked at the moving truck just now and they were bringing out a head board and a bureau mirror. Both from up here looked very ornate with scrolls and carvings. Something a woman would like more than a man? We have had more men move in lately than women and I think there is only one man here that was here before I moved in. I don't usually bother looking at furniture coming in or going out but what I saw is something I would have liked. I can send you that Fresh French Blueberry pie recipe if you want it. I got it out of an old Yankee Magazine must have been close to 50 years ago. I think I said one it was in an old Farmers Almanac then I came across the original one I tore the page out to keep. That paper is now yellowed with age. If you make that pie with your own filling I like bigger berries to cook and thicken and small raw ones and all those popping in my mouth when bit into, yummy. Once I tried it with cooking some frozen blueberries, they did thicken but it never set right. It called for FRESH berries and that is all I used except that one time With the one crust you chill it and then served with whipped cream. Now I want a piece of one but no berries in the house. I made a strawberry pie using the same recipe-big berries need to be cut to cook and thicken and small ones better for the raw ones.
Have a good day everyone, no one coming today, a quiet day for me. One thing though, talking about fish makes me want some fish and chips. I just might call Mike and ask if he would like that and tell him if he would order it and pick it up I would treat him and my DIL to it.
See you all tomorrow, the good Lord willing.
Good Morning everyone. Shirley you are welcom at our place any time . just get on 2 Highway east of lature and get on ZZ go south to the three Black Mail boxes in a cluster on the west or eastside of the road. do a right turn on the south side of them. the duplex on the left asyou come up the drive is ours. just rattle the door and we will let you in. the RV has plenty of bed space in it, and plenty of clean sheets.we can let you stayin it when you want privecy or sleep. we all could go to the lake of the orzaks and go fishing or just sight seaying. we have a comutey dumpster. and the people that have the service are on a strike and it is over ran with trash bags. Lloyd
Good morning, plus nineteen recently at 7:52 AM and heading for a high of forty-one. We're about a month behind re: spring this year. From the news, it seems to me that we're not the only area delaying spring this year.
I haven't heard the construction guys so they're probably assembling on the front or official side of the building. The only remaining question is rather they're to follow one floor all the way around or simply one side at a time? They've done both with earlier steps in the process. Actually, two questions, to start on the first or fifth floor?
This entire project was supposed to be completely finished by December first. It's been plagued by mis-measurements, items back-ordered, and weather conditions. I don't know who is to blame as we're not told anything, no printed notices sent out in these days of Covid. However, I suspect both are pointing fingers at the other!
I've finished my taxes and paperwork for this year and caught up and filed others. I still need to do a written budget. I have the papers to assemble it, but I simply seem incapable of using it as with using planners. I do best with fewer frills. I write everything down both on and offline and staple an adding machine tape to the paper copy.
I don't trust cloud services, Google is known spyware, it records every keystroke and while protecting you from others, it turns around and makes a profit by selling your info to whoever has the cash.
"The spyware can steal messages, contacts, device details, browser bookmarks and search history, record calls and ambient sound from the microphone, and take photos using the phone's cameras. The malware also tracks the victim's location, searches for document files and grabs copied data from the device's clipboard.
The malware hides from the victim and tries to evade capture by reducing how much network data it consumes by uploading thumbnails to the attacker's servers rather than the full image. The malware also captures the most up-to-date data, including location and photos."

Good Friday morning HELLO to EVERYFRIEND.
Thank you to ALL who commented and wished me the best on my EMG test. The test went well. We liked the doctor and feel she was thorough. The news was not great, but could have been worse. There is damage to the nerves n my shoulder...duh‼️ She attributed mainly to the original fall and he fact that they had such a hard time getting my dislocated shoulder back into the socket. That being said, the two surgeries did their part as well. The damage is only in my shoulder not my neck or my lower arm. She thinks I have every hope that it will repair itself to some degree but it will take as much as a couple of yeas 🤪🤪🤪 The doc called my shoulder "frozen" but Dr. Dave does not agree with this as this is a orthopedic issue and the fact that my PT can rotate my arm every direction without a hitch, he thinks I need to hold off on this opinion from her and wait to see what my orthopedic surgeon says after he has seen the report. I felt a little down after we got home, but this morning I am ready to tear up the world to get this shoulder working again.
PATRICIA, what a headache to have to be waiting around for when ever the workers will do you balcony😩. Wow, you are going to enjoy some warmer temperatures today🌷🌷 Yikes, frightening trouts about malware that you have shared
SHIRLEY, I, too am sad that you will not be returning to CO to camp again. I know you love to do it😩😩 I wish you and I could meet up with Lloyd and Nancy and go to the Lake of the Omari's....now that would be fun‼️‼️
JANE, I got tears in my eyes reading about the borrowed crystal necklace too. How sweet. I love old traditions and just wish we could do more of them now days. Many seem to have gone by 5he way side😩
Ah, fishing🥰. I had my fair share as a child and after our boys were old enough. My mom's family were big fisherman.....we would head out at the break of dawn together headed for some high country lake after gathering our worms and night crawlers the night before. I liked catching them, but I sure did not car much for sitting on the bank watching my bobber with the sun beating down on me.
When my mom and dad were first married they lived in Leadville CO. My dads brother and he would take my mom hiking in to various high altitude lakes. Mom said she began to feel like a mountain goat! Now those lakes had the BIG trout in the that were natives, not stocked fish. My dad caught a big one and had it mounted and it hung in our home for many years. I found a picture f my dad proudly holding it awhile back and sent it to him. He was thrilled to see it again....it was a rainbow withe the brightest salmony pink stripe. Fresh trout fried back then were delicious.
Seems it never rains but it pours‼️ My dermatologist called yesterday to say the second biopsy was good, but their is some kind f cancer concern so I go back to him next week for @ scrape an$ burn procedure. I had this done a couple of months ago on another spot, so I know all about it. Gurrr, as this will keep me from my swimming AGAIN for another couple f weeks😩😩
I wish EVERFRIEND a good day and a good weekend.
Jenny
I grew up fishing, using lures; it was a large part of my summers as we spent most of it at our cabin on the Salcha or traveling on other rivers. The only time we dug and used worms was in Colorado, visiting relatives in the Grand Junction and Montrose areas.
To this day, I'm the recipient of fish and shellfish. Some of my closest and longest friends are retired Fish and Game employees. Whenever he returned from a hunting or fishing trip, I received the goods from their freezer cleanouts.
I offered cooking instructions and free babysitting, which was no problem as their two daughters were close friends with my daughter. Bartering services have long been a part of life here or at least part of mine. From childhood to adulthood, it has remained the norm.
Patricia, the night before we were to go fisihng.my Dad and I would go out late at night 9- 10 pm with cans and flashlights and pick the dew worms. Great when there was a hill as you didn't have to bend down that far!! Later on Dad built a worm box and put it in the basement with dirt/worms and moss to cover it and keep it damp. Every now and again he would take the used tea leaves and sprinkle that over them.
Rarely did we use minnows. Later on in life I went fishing with my neighbours and there was no way we would put a hellgrammite on our hooks, her husband had to do it. When one grabbed my pants I said that was it...back to worms for me!!
Since the only terms I'm familiar with is worm boxes and minnow, I'm going to be getting busy with my search engine.
Hellgrammites look and sound ferocious for their size, so no thanks!
Dew worms also sound too much of a good thing.
Evidently, earthworms have made it to Alaska's S. E. Still, any who made it to the Interior, including snakes and other creepy crawlers, cannot survive the permafrost just below the topsoil.
:cheer: :cheer: We're, my borough, considered low!! :cheer: :cheer: The first time out of high for Covid since March 2020!
Only 84 new cases and no deaths since ten in January/February.
This is wonderful news!
However, I'll still be wearing masks.
What great news Patricia!!
A bit of relief for you.
Covid news great, Patricia, but Hellgrammites will never get on MY hook. Actually, Amy, they look wicked enough to be a varmit to be hunted & killed!!! Oh, I'm still shivering.
Lloyd, nice offer you made & I thank you but as you know, we haul our own beds, don't we? I do love the convenience of stopping any where my eyes want to close, pull off & go to sleep. There is a WallyWorld in nearly every town but the Corp of Engineer campgrounds offer plug in power, plenty of trees, birds & squirrels, and if you get one of the higher camp sites, pretty good TV. The antenna works great on my motorhome and with the Golden Age Passport, price is almost shameful so cheap.
Jenny, now it's time for you to figure how to make that shoulder work... you can do it! The orthopedic that took care of my knee 2 or 3 years ago offered me surgery any time.... but I convinced that knee I would be super disappointed if it didn't get better fast. It did, no pain at all & both work as good as if I was 40 or 50. The muscles not so whippy, could do with lots of exercise but I am getting lazy, just plain lazy. No surgery, tho.
I can't keep my eyes open & a quickie nap sounds good. Will be cooking all day tomorrow so need to rest up. Gloria, wish you lived close enough to sit & tell me how to fix those recipes... I do enjoy cooking but can't follow a recipe, seriously. :-[ Few things are a hit so I fix them over & over.
Today I'm gonna throw together a ready made graham cracker crust with vanilla pudding stuffed with bananas. Such pretty bananas I couldn't pass them up & even have a better than usual taste... but they go down easier with pudding. Have a bag & half of Cara Cara oranges so will need to juice some & after drinking will have a few to add to mashed bananas for fruit ice. So easy to throw together & the kids & grands think I'm a genius for fixing it. Hardest part is having freezer space to stir every few hours as it sets up. I add enough sugar for me to love it. I could munch all year on it.
Nice to have such great neighbours!
Just changed into pjs to watch TV...dogs started to BARK! A peek out the window and I saw a truck in the yard. Quickly , yes I can move fast when needed and quickly dressed...well sort of. Going to door I met the neighbour and he handed me a fresh bottle of maple syrup...how fresh..it was still hot! Didn't recognize the truck as he just bought this one.
Good Morning Everyfriend! I was so tired last night that I went straight to bed without even thinking of signing out of here. There was a lot of action here yesterday and I'm on a strict schedule today.
First, Cathy is picking up me and my recycling to take us to the center to get it out of my house. Then we're dropping off our library books and grabbing a couple more from our lists. Then we're heading for the Amish Grocery store to stock up on items we both need. And, hopefully, Cooper will be arriving before we have to go or Frankie will be dropping him off when no one is here to greet him.
When I'm finished here, I'm heading for the showers.
JENNY, it's nice to have some backup to whatever the Drs. tell you. Your son must be a real GEM! I sure hope everything turns out well. Don't give up! I know you won't but remember that we're all behind you and sending best wishes and prayers your way. How nice that you found the picture to share with your Dad! I bet he was thrilled!
SHIRLEY, I sure hope your grass grows. When you sow it, ask Cas to look in on it. I bet his help will give it push up to the sun and rain (or watering)
PHYLLIS, I haven't worried about doing my taxes since my son got his accounting degree. I just shove everything in an envelope and drop it all off at his store or his house and wait for the results! Seems fair...I paid for the degree!
I'm off to the showers! I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
For Gloria

Good morning..
A cloudy morning here and I doubt we shall see any sun.
Laundry day today and putter about.
Honking geese going over the house at the moment. the other day I saw a loon .Most of the lakes are still frozen over so I hope he finds one open to land and feed in.
Gloria, yes please post your Blueberry pie recipe..
Love the photo of your daughter and Saguaro.I didn't know they grew that big!!
Better get a move on slept in a bit and now need to scurry.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
I rode over on Bubble's link to see the photos so better go eat breakfast & start cooking. Haven't heard if my neighbor gets sprung today or tomorrow so think I'll just take on over & it'll be there for anyone that shows up. I got some delicious black grapes at the store yesterday & thinking they might taste really good in chicken salad, along with some pecans & walnuts. I fixed enough for an army since their families gather around, so nice to have happy families to see out my window. Forgot to buy a package of "paper" bowls & don't think I have enough in the camper to take over. Times like this I do use the nicer throw away dishes! I'll let them worry about it. She did say they had plenty of refrigerator space & that is something I lack for bulk storage. I used to have a full size frig & freezer in the garage (not combo) but got rid of in one of the moves. Have little frig & freezer & hardly hold anything. Better than nothing!
Good morning, nothing to mention that hasn't already been said. So, I'll go with some quotes.
"I'm pretty sure that eating chocolate keeps wrinkles away because I have never seen a ten-year-old with a Hershey bar and crow's feet." Author Amy Neftzger
"He will need every tool in the book today." Sports Commentator, Andy Townsen
"Funny how the nature of a normal day is the first memory to fade." Author Lionel Shriver
"When we remember we are all mad, the mysteries disappear and life stands explained." Author Mark Twain
"We humans are different--our brains are built not to fix memories in stone but rather to transform them. Our recollections change in their retelling." Writer Mira Bartok
Correction: An earlier version of this article misattributed a quotation. The lines "We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race," were said by a
character in the movie Dead Poets Society, not by Walt Whitman. The New York Times
Patricia I am sticking with the story that chocolate is made from beans, beans are a vegetable and vegetables are good for you. That is my story and I am sticking to it. :smitten:
Good Night everyone. AMY I am with you only I am saying dark chocklet is Best. good night snd sweet dreams.
Lloyd
Good Night....and Good Morning Everyfriend! Today was a long and a busy day. We made our first stop at the recycling, then we went to the computer place and we were 15 minutes too early so we hit the library. I got one book, ordered another one and Cathy got two. Then we headed back to the computer place. After a lot of looking and a lot of talking, I ended up ordering a new laptop that can be hooked up to the new screen, keyboard and mouse that Cindy left here for me. They will pick up my old computer (which they built about 10 years ago, transfer all the stuff I want onto the new one and get rid of all the junk on this one. And then I'll be totally confused. So he promised to be on the other end of the phone line if I need him!
After that we hit the Mennonite grocery store and stocked up good, came home and Cathy went home. I put my groceries away, had lunch and then Cathy came back and picked me up and we made a shopping trip to Kohl's. Boy was I tired when I got home.
After all that, I still had Cooper to care for, and all the house stuff to tend to and My sister called me and we talked for a good hour and a half. I'm hoping to make a visit to her soon but so far, it hasn't worked out!
GLORIA, I saw your picture and commented on it over there. Those Cacti were one of the things that really amazed me on our trip to Arizona! It brought back memories!
Now I'm hitting the haystack. I don't have to be up early tomorrow so I'm not setting the alarm. I just have to get up in time to be ready to leave for church at 9:45. I hope you are all having a peaceful night's sleep and that you have a happy and relaxed tomorrow! And may God bless us, everyone! And may He look after the Ukrainians!
good Morning everyone. well it is 4:45 am and cloudy.so the weather gusser says, It Is still dark out and I do not see any stars so I will take his word. I got a drink and relived the dry mouth and going back to bed and cuddle up close to Nancy untill she hollers and makes me get up for the day. she will go to church as usual and i will get her preacher on line and watch and listen to them on line. Hope you have a great day.
Lloyd
Good morning...
Just when you thought winter was on the way out it has the last say.....tis snowing out!! Not a lot and not big flakes but snow!
A day of rest here ,may look after the neighbours critters if the sap ran but being so cold it may not have. The maple syrup is delicious!
Jane you had a fun filled packed day yesterday!
Lloyd, dark chocolate is the only way to go!!
Phyllis, how are you?
Better get moving..
Enjoy your day and stay safe..
Another Good Morning to Everyfriend! The weather here doesn't know what to do with itself. It's down to 35 and calling for a bit of snow around noon! I'm not even going to look out the window to see if it does that. I'm ready for SPRING!!!
I slept in until 7 this morning and I have until 8:30 when I have to start getting ready for church!
Frankie is making a last trip to WM this morning to pick up some stuff she needs and a large bag of Middlesworth Potato Chips that will be transported to Mexico for the Groom-to-Be. He became addicted to them when he lived in Pennsylvania and they are a local place (about 15 miles from where I live) and not available everywhere. I'm afraid he'll be eating potato chip "crumbs" when they get there!
She's dropping Cooper off while she does that and then taking him home to sleep with her. Tomorrow he'll be here to stay until she gets back from Mexico. My Little Buddy!
I was going to tell AMY to "keep her snow in Canada" but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. She is a real SHARER, isn't she?
I'm off to the showers now and then church and then NOTHING for the rest of the day! I think I earned a day off! I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
Jane, I don't want it either.the snow is slowly going and more on top is not needed. I want to go play in the dirt. Just read from a gardening site a good idea and I am going to use it...put dew worms in the trugs...here is the article I was reading.
https://www.ruralsprout.com/add-worms-to-soil/
Good morning everyone. Stayed up late watching a movie last night-or this morning? Don't ask what I watched don't remember the name but it was a western of course. An old one with corny scenery where they are riding their horses and the clouds never move and you never see the horses but the actors were bouncing up and down. Most likely what used to be called B movies but this one was lower than that. I do get stuck at times watching a movie that really should never have been made.
AMY if any one came to my door after I got into my jammies I would just put my robe on. If they called and said they were coming I would be dressed. I don't think any of the ponds in this town froze enough this winter for ice fishing. There is one big pond here that we would see cars on it in winter while they were ice fishing. Not only are the saguaros tall but old also. The can grow up to 200 years. They only grow in southern Az. Anyone caught digging up a small one gets a hefty fine and a possible jail term. If any one is building a tourist attraction and wants one they have to apply for a permit and not many are approved.
SHIRLEY that chicken salad sounds so yummy. wish you were my neighbor. My daughter and I would make salads and they were never the same. One of us would think of something else to add and the 3 men folks seemed to like them, the oldest one didn't complain. My sons liked any kind of food except liver. I would cook bacon get that out of t he frypan then add liver and onions. The kids and I would eat the bacon and the veggies and were happy.
PATRICIA must be my love for chocolate and how much I have eaten is the reason I do not have many wrinkles at my age, especially after losing about 80 pounds, still don't know how I lost those pounds took almost 2 years for it to go away. I sure wasn't trying.
SHIRLEY Yvette had the surgery on her knee the beginning of November and is still out. She was told 3 months altogether. Already over 4 months and the muscles in her thigh are still not strong. About now she is thinking she should have had the knee replaced and she would be healed.
LLOYD they say that the dark chocolate it better for health but I stick the the milk chocolate.
JANE if I did half of what you did with all that shopping and running around hey would have had to pick me up and put me to bed. It was 38° when I got to the PC this morning. The sun is shining but not too bright. There is a light overcast and some clouds so who knows what the day will bring.
Had my coffee and now i is time for breakfast. Have a good day and be safe.
AMY I have been setting here reading your post Link, about egg shels. I have read in the Past about your egg shels and benifits. one thing is griend them intoo powerd in your blinder, put it in your garden and or flour pots, even put some of it in juce and drink it also read about bana pieals. it is amazing about what you can do with what we all through in the garbage. a lot of what we through in the garbage could be recycled and go a long way to saving Mother earth. reading is a good pas time. I had a leingthey post made ready to post and the grlimans ate it. Nancy went to church and left me in bed asleep. I havent been up long, too late to watch her preacher Live on the TV. so pray for me to do better this week. I was settinghere in My office watching the birds among them was a pair of robbins hopping around picking something out of the grass. they shure fun to watch. the people that have our trash service are on strike, hollering abut no benifits. Our dumpster is over stacked, and some neighbors tha do not belong to our grupe are also thorwing there trash on ouver full dumpster. it is in court do not know how it will comee out? have a good day see you all Later.
Lloyd
Good morning from a warm, no clouds or snow in sight, Interior. They're forecasting a cool April with a bit of sleet here and there which, if so, will continue our very unusual winter, spring, and hopefully not summer.
They came by yesterday afternoon, putting in our new balcony screens. They surprised me by coming from the right and going up and down instead of a floor or a side at a time. I hope this means the end of construction for a very long time. Other than that, no news.
good Night and sweet dreams everyone. It is cool here also. currently 34º and cloudy. hope to see ypu all tomor in good shape and sperits.
Lloyd
Just stopping by to say "Good Night Everyfriend!" This has been a busy day but not physically. I've been doing a lot of paper work, some dishwashing, a bit of cooking and not much else. Cooper stopped by for a while until Frankie did some shopping and we played really hard while he was here. He loves attention!
Now I'm going to go fall into the haystack and rest my eyes for a bit! We're supposed to have more snow flurries during the night and I really don't want to see them. There were some this morning just as I was getting in Cathy's car to go to church and more as I was getting in my friend's car to come home. A lot of people around here have begun to organize their yards and I'm still thinking "SPRING". I'm ignoring the snow.
Good Night. I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. And may God bless us, every one! And may He look after the lives of the Ukrainians!
Good morning.
Going to be a busy day here with appointments plus we want to look at pellet stoves for the garage/shop and I need a printer. There is no hurry on the stove but yes on the printer.
Jane , just overcast here today and shhh on the snow. My friend had her granddaughters dog for the weekend and boy The dog never stayed still! She would run with their dog until both were tuckered out. Granddaughter pick her up yesterday and phoned back to say that one the way to Grammas the dog was all over the car.On the way back home, she slept, got out went into the house and curled up and slept some more!! She had the time of her life at Grandmas!
Gloria, when we were in Montana I asked Kyle to pull over. There were cactus with flowers on all over, a State trooper pulled in behind and asked if we were alright and I explained what I was doing. His next words made me walk back out to the road when he said watch out for rattlers!!
Patricia, nice when all the work is done and everything back to what we now call normal. Does the noise bother Farrah?
Lloyd, I like the idea of earth worms and will try that in the trugs.
Better scoot.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning Everyfriend! Today my week with Cooper begins. Frankie will drop him off sometime today and then take off for her mother's house. They will leave for Mexico on Wednesday and the wedding is Saturday. Getting exciting in this family!!!!
It's below freezing out there! The overnight low was 31 degrees! I hope it didn't freeze all the flowering bushes that were starting! Forsythia is one of my favorites and it had buds yesterday.
Even if I were a full-time gardener, I wouldn't be able to actually put Worms into anything. They make me squirm almost as much as they squirm themselves! I never liked them and our next door neighbor, Charles, knew that when I was little. He tested me almost daily! If he hadn't been so cute, I'd have had to knock him over the head with something hard!
Got my second cup of coffee and today is "office cleaning out" day! The guys from the computer place will be coming here to get my old computer and hook up the new one and there's no way I want anyone who is not related to me to see this office! It's going to take me days to get it in shape. It's taken me years to get it in this shape.
I guess I better get started because when Cooper gets here, it will be play time for a bit and then a walk before he settles in! I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
It is a beautiful morning here but a little cool. Temp. was 31 deg. when I got up. Typical up-and-down weather for Spring.
Laundry today and finish the taxes so not a particularly exciting day to look forward to.
Take care, All.
An old belief (and it seems to hold true)
When the Forsythia blooms keep an eye open for TERMITES. This is the time That they swarm. If you see them swarming you know they are in the area. Take the proper precautions.
good Morning RAMMEL and phyllis and all else that follow. I slept in again I stayed up watching the TV again Late again. we have a beautful bright sunny day 41ºF this morning. Nancy went to take the van in to dealer ship to get it serviced and do some grocery shopping and left me sleeping in. our coumenity dumpster is over full and the neighbor hood dogs has got up on the side and got tome of th trash bags and tor the up and trash all over the yard. so another job to do cleaning up. the trash people are still on strike for some better benifits. I wish we could get the people back we had they done a good job, but theys sold out to these people and retired. Have a good day and a better tomorow.

Good morning everyone! Today's weather is much the same, and it's gray, brown, and slushy out there. Yesterday it dripped and froze all day, and today is likely to be the same. The construction is finishing up to my left and then around to finish the remaining front portion. The screen doors have locks and slides on both ends. The balcony door itself only opens and slides to one side.
Amy, Farrah doesn't care for the noise, but it's the two types of lifts that spook her. Imagine you're taking a nice nap on the cat tree when suddenly a huge purple or black arm lifts up and over the balcony, and two creatures in brightly clad colors hop over! One jump clears the room, and the second is to the closest place to get into or under.
We don't have termites here, the cold weather kills off their colonies, but we do have carpenter ants.
Good Night Everyfriend! I off to the haystack and tonight there will be company in the stack. Cooper will be sleeping there with me and he's a cuddler!
I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one! And may he bless and keep the Ukrainians, too!
Sweet dreams & God Bless from me, too. Wishing everyone a restful night and wake up ready to fire up the day! We have an extremely warm night and Callie decided she wanted to stay outside. Tomorrow night we are supposed to have storms so I will insist she stay inside. The weather guesser I listened to said more like hail, wind & rain rather than tornadoes... but I wouldn't want to stake my life on THAT prediction!
The pear trees are starting to bloom but not the forsythia, Rick. I've never heard that saying before but know the termites do swarm in the spring & just last year I had to have my house fully treated so that will come due again any time. I am going to start slapping all those hands dipping into my checking account!
I didn't get down to the river tonight, phone calls, one right after another & by the time I was ready to go it was almost dark & I really am not sure what critters are down by the river at dark. Tiger won't go down at all except daytime but evening she will sit at the top & wait for Callie and me to come back up. The neighbors have cams that show fox, coyote & raccoons, I don't know if the owls & hawks hunt at night or not, but hear an owl hooting lots of nights. Also have homeless that will overnight under the bridge to the west, the by-pass around the city, over the Arkansas River. Guess they sometimes fish & wander along the river. Stay safe, don't let the boogie men get'cha!
Good morning...
We had a busy day yesterday, Kyle did get his cortisone shot in his shoulder and I did finally get a printer. Not many to choose from but came home with a Canon PIXMA........now to set it up...but it will have to wait. We are off to pick up a part for the drill press in another direction. Theme song is On The Road Again. On Thur we go to the vet in another direction. about an hour away..I figured we might as well get all the travelling done then I can stay home.
Shirley, would love to see a pear tree bloom!! Hope you can share some photos. We saw our first robin yesterday in the city.
Patricia, we had a bitter wind yesterday, sun was out but the wind was cutting. Sounds like it will be really nice and functional when it is all done.
Jane, I think you're spoiling Cooper......or rather making him feel well loved.
Phyllis, tis -5° F here this morning. I hope to hear from our accountant next week on our taxes.
Gloria and Lloyd , good morning..
Better get my travelling duds on.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning Everyfriend! This will be a shortie because Cooper is ready for his walk and I'm not dressed yet.
It's cold here the last few days...down in the 20s but today it's supposed to go up to 41 and then back down overnight and then up for the days and down for the nights the rest of the week. There is snow predicted and high winds later in the week. My lucky family will escape this and be spending tim in Mexico at Daniel's wedding. Lucky them!
Just when I think this thing is working, it stops. The keyboard must not be connected properly because it just plain stops typing! I guess I'll go get dressed and take Cooper out. You all have a great day!
Amy ---
I have a PIXMA MX920 (or 922) and love it. I've had it for several years. The software programs that came with it are great and can do so much. I never bothered to set up the FAX feature because FAX seems to conflict with my cordless land line phone / answering set feature. I can copy a document in a PDF format and attach it to an email and send it using the software provided. That feature came in so handy recently sending documents to the Lawyer. Saved trips to his office. All in all, I would buy another one.
Good printer information from Amy and Rick. I am getting really fed up with my current printer and am thinking about getting a new one. I'll check the Canon printer out and see if I can find one somewhere locally.
I received notice from TurboTax that both Fed and State tax returns have been accepted so my taxes are done and filed. Whoo Hoo! Also, Turbotax just sent me an email saying that if by chance I am audited they are ready to deal with that for me. I like that but, don't expect to be audited since it is not a very complicated return and I have documentation to back up everything.
Cloudy and cool here....but, no snow. However, we need some rain because we are under "fire alert" warnings. The woods are dry and the wind has been high.
Take care, All.
Good morning from the Interior, we are definitely in melt mode with everything dripping, overnight freezing, and dripping again the following day. Snow patches in the hills across from me are slowly disappearing.
I no longer have a home printer as I send everything electronically these days with a copy to my external drive with a cloud or CD backup. With my hands the way they are, I would have trouble setting a printer up.
On the road again became....dragin my wagon..
Another fun filled day ,we did get the part and the owner put it in the drill press for us! Now the press has been delivered to a new owner.
Rick ,thank you for the information. I was surprised when the young lad asked if I needed a cable and asked him did it not come with the printer? Not anymore do they "give" you the cable but I can use the old one from the other printer. I have yet to set it up and may holler for help. Can't believe how cheaply made they are now but the price is high!!
Good afternoon, It is earley butnI am sayin good night now in case I do not get back today ,we are currently at 46º and cloudy. hope you all have had a good day, see you all later.
Lloyd
Amy,
The printers are fairly cheap but they clean up on the ink.
We had a good day but I'm ready for the haystack and I think that's where Cooper has already gone! We took 3 long walks today...one absolutely freezing one early in the morning, one in sun so bright I had trouble seeing my hand in front of my face, and one in a beautiful, balmy evening. Three totally different walks all in the same day!
Tomorrow, I have to get up and get cleaned up because my SIL is coming to take me to do a couple local errands and he's coming a bit early so we can go out for breakfast first. I told him I'm a bit rusty because it's been a long time since I've been on a date with a handsome younger man and he answered that I need my glasses changed! He is handsome and always has been. So was his father all his life!
Now I'm off! I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one. And may He look kindly on the Ukrainians, too!
Jane, best feeling to have "one on one" with the kids. I've thoroughly enjoyed the times spent camping in CO with sons in the next site but getting to feed them whatever meals we eat in my camper. We know every good place to eat in both of the near by towns, too.
I need to eat something before going to bed. The rain started about an hour ago & been pouring down. I got the slide put back in on the motorhome & unplugged, did load after load of laundry all day so made a little headway today. I even made some fruit ice, juiced 4 oranges & mashed 4 bananas with about a cup & half of sugar, add maybe quart of water & have to stir every few hours so fruit doesn't sink to the bottom as it freezes. This batch tastes pretty good. Must be needing the vitamin C because the oranges taste so good any which way.
Thunder, lightning, spring rains. I brought a twig of forsythia in, bud finally opened & I am searching for termites, Rick! Only few jonquils bloomed this year. I've been putting out the peanuts & raisins that got out of date in the motorhome, squirrels are having a feast. So far nary a robin has looked at any of the food, but as I watched out the window a cardinal swooped down & snatched a whole pecan piece from under the squirrel's nose & headed across the yard, think the females are setting on eggs already.
The termites are not on the forsythia, they just swarm at the same time - from wherever they are living. If you see one you'll see hundreds. Like a cloud of them.
This will be an early night for me. Eyes trying to shut already. But it was a productive day. Had to rotate an outlet for a new Dehumidifier I bought. The old outlet had the power cord going up, rather than down. The outlet is higher on the wall - about 5' off the floor. So that's fixed. Went through some old stuff stashed in drawers and threw out some and got some ready for give away. But so much more to do.
Good Morning Everyfriend! This will be a quickie because I still have to throw on some clothes and take Cooper for his first walk of the day and then come back and get a shower and get dressed for my "date" with Craig. And I think it's light enough to go pretty soon but it's below freezing out there!
I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
Good morning...
I did not want to get up this morning but between crows hollering and Babe hitting me with her paw there was no staying in bed.
Have a few need to do chores then it is install/hookup the printer.
Jane, thoroughly enjoy your "date".
Rick, this printer has only two cartridges and the other had 5 and yes they do clean up on ink! Sounds like you also had a busy day, hopefully you can take it easy today.
Gloria is missing!!
Enjoy your day and stay safe..
JaneS the grimlans did it to me again I had apost all but done and away it went. I was saying you either Have a brighter moon or pole light than we do. Not enough light here to walk a dog. you may fall and get hurt. at our age we can get broken bones very easley. we have a good frind just one year yonger than me in the nursing home recuperating from two broken Hips. easy dose it. seeyou later.
Lloyd
The sun was coming up when I got up this morning but the clouds are moving in. Will be cloudy most of today and "severe" weather is forecast for tomorrow. My head is already agreeing with that so not a good day for me, I guess.
Hope it is better wherever you All are. Take care.
Amy, What brand and model Printer did you get? Two ink cart's sounds interesting. Maybe one of them has multiple colors in it. My Canon has 5 - 3 color cart's and a black, which are a dye composition and 1 Black that is a pigment composition. I believe the pigment is to make a blacker black.
I have finally developed a little incentive to try to get some order in this house. I find it difficult to throw things away that are still good. Then there is some new stuff that was my wife's that neither my son or I can use. I realize there are people out there that could use the stuff but it's hard to part with some of it (attachment).
But I'm also going over MY junk and disposing of things/records I'll never use. Old Medical Plan documents and the like. Stuff that has just accumulated over the years.
Rick, this is a Canon PIXMA TR7020
https://www.canon.ca/en/product?name=PIXMA_TR7020
I have two printers on a Canon and the other for everyday printing a Brother and both have laid down on me. Mind you they are both over 10 years old and don't owe me anything but...I like them. I like old, I find the newer of anything not as well made but I guess I will just have to go with the flow and deal with it.
I do understand getting rid of items that one has attachments to. I need to do that here..
Documents can be put in the cookstove but somethings I want or need to keep.
Better get at the day or it too will be gone on me.
Craig dropped me off a little bit ago. We got all my errands done and had breakfast at a new restaurant in town. I had enough food to bring home enough for tomorrow morning too. Craig and I talked non-stop about families and other stuff. My first job after business school was in the same office where his father worked and since I already knew everyone who worked there because my Mother had also worked there before they moved, it was a good place to go. We told stories of his growing up years and mine, too. I think this is the first time that we've spent much time together without someone else along....kids or wives! I kind of think he enjoyed it as much as I did!
LLOYD, it was daylight here when Cooper and I went for a walk. We're an hour ahead of you...remember?
GLORIA, congratulations on getting your taxes out of the way. I wish mine were done!
Now I have to get Emma's birthday present wrapped up and on the way. She'll be 4 in about 2 weeks! I can't believe it!
Have a great day Everyfriend!
Finally looked this up. I was trying to remember how many years I have had it, from a Yankee Magazine, must be close to 50 years, my 3 kids were still at home and too young to date.
Enjoy
French Fresh Blueberry Pie
9 inch baked shell
3½ C fresh blueberries
2¼ C sugar
¼ C water
2 TBS corn starch
pinch of salt
1 TBS lemon juice.
Put 2 cups berries in saucepan with 1 TBS water, sugar and salt.
Dissolve corn starch in ¼c water, add to berries in pan.
Cook over medium heat till thickens and is clear stir often so it will not stick.
Cool a little.
Add remaining berries and lemon juice, mix gently to keep raw berries whole.
Add to cooked berries, mix gently and pour into baked shell, chill several hours.
Serve with cream. Berries must be fresh and never frozen.
Good morning, we had a slight dusting of snow overnight, but today it's back to the drip, drip, freeze and repeat. This is one of the slowest, latest springs that I can remember, and it seems that way in so many other places.
Gloria, thanks so much for that recipe! I love blueberries!
We've had no new Covid cases in the last three days and no deaths this month, so we have cautious hope that places will start opening again. On the 27th, we dropped from a high to a low rating after 24 months of a total lockdown. If we do start re-opening, it will be done slowly and cautiously.
I have no idea what will happen with this building as everything has been locked away for so long, and no personal contact; all business is done over the phone or by email. When maintenance does come in an apartment, it's a wonder they are able to work, swatched in plastic as they are, even to plastic shoe coverings.
We are no longer kept informed either, as the water has been shut off for work twice now, and when someone called in, they were told that management was aware of it. When I called in one day to report an argument the night before, a man was banging on his door two doors down after midnight, loudly swearing and yelling for his wife to open up. And that it had happened earlier that week, I was only asked if I had called the police.
We no longer have an evening security guard and weren't notified of any changes. Before the pandemic, we had 24/7 maintenance and security. Afterward, it was one security guard each shift, and you called maintenance on a recorded line, and they later showed up. I wonder if they will go back to the prior arrangement?
Well, we both lived! With that I mean the printer and I. Long long ago I hooked up the printers..you know when we were a lot more supple in our joints and could just pop right up from being on the floor after moves of a contortionist. I am pleased with it, not as fast as the other printers but then again neither am I. I print a lot of quilt patterns and I do like the double sided printing. Now if this one prints photos as well as the other Canon I will be happy!
Gloria, thank you for the recipe. I am also going to try it with raspberries and maybe strawberries too.
Patricia, they are calling for freezing rain this way and I phoned the vet and told her that if the weather here is bad we are staying put!
I have had enough excitement for one day..
Good morning, know I was not here yesterday but could not find my last post.` Don't know where or from who but I have picked up a cold For over a week the only ones I have seen are the 2 different CNAs and not even my son last Saturday. I seldom get a cold but when I do I am miserable so forgive me if I come in and just say hello so you know I am still alive and kicking.
From someone I have picked up a cold, already on the second box of tissues.. Only ones that have been here are 2 CNAs and I don't think it was the one here today but the other one I get 3 days. It has been years since I had a cold so they really knock me out when I do get one.
PATRICIA all community rooms here are open and wearing masks has been dropped but wearing one would be appreciated, visitors still have to wear one.
AMY I used that recipe with strawberries and if they are big with the cooking part cut them up, does not work good if they are too big pieces, and THEN I LIKE TRYING TO FIND smaller strawberries for the raw ones. Works better and tastes better. Of course more of them to clean.
It has been so cold here the last 3 nights- low of 18°, days sunny but only in the low to high 30's. We are supposed to keep the thermostat at 68 but I turned mine up almost to 80 before I started to get warm.
Have a good night and hope I make it here tomorrow.
Racing thru but sympathy & hugs for the cold, Gloria!
:tissue: :hugs: :tissue:
Time to say Good Night Everyfriend! I think Cooper has already gone to bed and I'm about to follow him!
I reread my last post and I have an apology to make. I congratulated Gloria for getting her taxes done and I meant to congratulate Phyllis. Sooooooo...Congrats Phyllis for finishing your taxes.
I got a lot done today and some of it shows and some of it doesn't. I already told you about the errands that Craig helped me with and I got a lot more office sorting done when I got home. I also made some fried corn bread and it was pretty good.
Now I'm heading for the haystack to catch a few zzzzzs and then tomorrow is another day. I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one! And may He watch over the Ukrainians!
I have a bad cold with awful cough. I am working on the new page for tomorrow. You will excuse me if it is opened a little late: I am not sure I'll wake up in the wee hours.
So sorry, Bubble, do take care of yourself & I've been told "sleep is the best medicine". We are not in a rush to change pages. If your weather is as crazy as ours it is impossible to know how to dress. This week we had 80 degrees & this morning I see snow flakes floating down, enough to cover the grass carpet around the pool! Are you sure you didn't catch Gloria's cold?
Looks like March is going out like a lion, and my forsythia just started blooming YESTERDAY! If the snow sticks on the forsythia branches should make a pretty pic when it gets light out.
I'm off to eat my breakfast, cats had their bowl of milk, have to get them a special kind so they don't throw it up. Each is now sitting on or by a furnace vent, spoiled babies.
Good morning...
Not nice outside this morning and may get worse. First we had snow that turned to rain and it is still raining. We have an appointment to take Babe to the vets but will wait and see how the morning goes......may cancel and remake. The trip is north and a lot of hills to go up an down and if it freezes it will not be a fun drive.
Bubble, take good care of you!! We can wait and Shirley is right...sleep is the best medicine.
Shirley, how old are your cats now? I don't blame them for snuggling up by the heat.
Gloria, same goes to you to please take care and get lots of rest.
Better get on with the day.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
For those with air fryers Patricia has posted a LOT of great recipes over in "What's For Dinner"
Not nice here this morning either. Cold and rainy.
I'm up and about early today because I have the City's Water Department man coming to fix my Water Meter. The device that sends the info to the City is not sending it, I don't want them to send an "Estimated" bill. Those always seem to be higher than they should be.
Fast recovery for those with Colds. Don't forget it is the start of the Allergy season.
Good morning, everyone.
BUBBLE seems like colds are going around here. I have one . the first since living here for 8 years. All I want to do is sleep but keep sneezing and grabbing another tissue, and coughing in between. The CNA coming today says she has allergies and keep her mask on.
AMY I am not missing, I know where I am. Have to send CNA to the store for more tissues, just opened my last box. Sure have to keep them in the house.
Gee my printer is an HP and old at least 10 years and had 1 black and 1 color cartridge My daughter has one with a bunch of cartridges because she prints out a lot of the pictures she takes and makes them into cards. I look forward to the cards she sends me. She is artistic. For Christmas she paints a photo that her sons ask for. He oldest son is getting quite a collection on the walls of his. house, Don't know about the other son, he and his wife have an apartment and he never sends any pictures.
JANE looks like you and Craig had a great time talking together. If I spent time with my one SIL it would be me talking, he is very quiet.
PATRICIA I like this blueberry pie much more than the regular 2 crust pie. Getting the raw berries pop when you bite into them sure is a burst of flavor.
AMY I wonder how that pie would be with the black raspberries, I do like those better than the red ones. I will not do another strawberries until local berries are being picked I do like the smaller ones even if it is more work getting the stems out.
SHIRLEY thanks at least colds do pass after they run their course.
Think I will see if the couch will be cozy enough for me to have a nap before the CNA gets here.
Have a good day and stay safe,
Good Morning Everyfriend! I slept like a log in a haystack last night! Got in bed around 11 and never woke up until 6:05 this morning!
We're supposed to have an "off-and-on rainy day today with temps in the mid 40s. I can live with that...just have to make sure we take our walks between the rain storms.
I'm going to be really alone this weekend. Everyone will be at Daniel's wedding and there is NO family left in town! I do have the couple across the street and they are going to be home. I asked them! It will be strange not to have ANY family in town. That's a newbie for me!
I hope the people with the colds get relief! And I hope the storms pass over those who are expecting them and I hope the thaw reaches Alaska slowly enough to avoide any emergencies but fast enough to bring Spring!
RAMMEL, maybe you and I should trade places for a while. You could come here and go through my stuff and get rid of what I having a hard time getting rid of and I could come over there and get rid of stuff you can't get rid of. Might work pretty well! Other people's "stuff" doesn't mean the same as our own "stuff"!
Now I'm off to chuch some more papers and tidy up the pictures! I need a new photo album before I can really finish that job though! Oh well!
I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
I hope all of you with colds are feeling better today. I don't have a cold but the pollen count is so high these days I am having a hard time trying to keep from sneezing, coughing, and, worst of all....getting rid of the headaches that always plague me because of allergies. I like Spring but it is a miserable time for me and Fall is the same way. I don't know who it was that gave me so many allergies. I think it was my Father. And, unfortunately, I turned around and passed them down to both of my sons. Luckily, they don't seem to hold it against me.
Take care, feel better, stay well, All.
P.S. I sent you a PM, Bubble. I hope you seriously think about my suggestion.
Good Morning Everyone.
It is suppose to get warmer and
dryer here on the Rocky Coast...
But the wind changes everything.
Like others on here, I
have the urge to do deep spring
cleaning and throwing away things
that I never use, only look at.
It must the season !!
I hope that everyone is haveing
a good day..
Sandy
good morning everyone. well thegrilmons done it again ate my post before I could get it posted and I can not fiend it. phyllis you hit the nail right on the haead about my fealings of head ace and alargeys. well Nancy called to come eaf morning meal. see you all lter.
Lloyd
A good Thursday HELLO to EVERYFRIEND 🌷🌷 Not much excitement around here.....another day at the grands house🥰🥰 My surgeon did call me yesterday morning.....he talked to a nerve doc and they both are encouraged that I can eventually get my movement back in this arm.....no suggestion though of how to get it done other than time.....this nerve heals at a micro millimeter a day😩😩‼️
JANE, your date with Craig sounded awesome🥰. One on one meet ups are extra special. I wish you could have joined the family at the wedding this weekend.
Happy to read most have their income taxes done. We also have ours done and have been accepted by state and the feds👏
I have often said I wish someone else could come and go through my "stuff" and I would do theirs....Bob offers but I know what HE would do with it😩😩😩. Hummmm, seems that is what I am trying to accomplish here‼️
Our spring weather is pretty fickle too. 80° one day and snow the next. I feel so bad for the poor people dealing with the awful weather. Yesterday morning a tornado touched down two times a mile from our sons home and the golf course in Springdale Arkansas. So glad they are no longer there. It was at four in the morning.....scary time. It hit a gymnasium and totally destroyed it.....glad no kids were there.
Sorry to read about colds and allergies.....miserable, both of them.
Have a wonderful day, EVERYFRIEND 🌷🌷
Jenny
Good morning from the Interior! Same place, weather, and lack of activities. We have just ended 24 months of a total lockdown of the city and this apartment building. This borough was low at first, and then we ended up high with the influx of people moving through on their way to the Bering Sea and fishing jobs and being their time off's destination.
We stayed high risk for most of the last nine months, so joining the rest of the state with a low risk was quite a heralded accomplishment. Masks and social distancing are still practiced and enforced in stores or this building.
Although it's not strictly enforced in the open malls. Taxis and buses have plexiglass barriers and do enforce the rules. The bus station reopened last month and finally removed the portapotties they had set up outside.
I'm not sure about the businesses needing personal contacts such as barbers, hairdressers, or dentists; I know it has long been medical emergencies only. Many of the smaller companies may not reopen at all. At one time, I kept to the smaller ethnic groceries for better service, products, and prices.
One time, a South Vietnamese business owner had her son carry my groceries home for me, and he refused a tip! I will be very sad if the Asian, East Indian, and South American businesses do not reopen. They were a thriving part of this city and its cafes, restaurants, barbers, tailors, and other small businesses.
I'm very sorry to hear about all the colds and muscle aches and pains due to the changeable weather. Unfortunately, it looks to be worse for you going into the weekend weatherwise. Our weather is expected to remain the same, a slow, steady climb and about ten to twelve degrees colder than in the Southeast part of the state.
And Bubble, I saw a report a couple of days ago where it was said "the flu" is on an uprise, just the plain old flu, that everyone should have had a shot for back in the Fall. Along with allergies, that may be a cause for all the "cold symptoms" everyone seems to be having. Stay well, take care of yourself.
I'm just about to hit the haystack again tonight. My eyes are about to enter slam shut mode and I'm tired, too. We had pouring rain most of the day today and Cooper and I took several walks in it. The first two it was just starting or slowing down but the last one it poured on us. When we got back, he got a towel rubdown, a combing and a another rubdown. I got out of my clothes and into my jammies.
JENNY, the news from your Dr. was slow but sure, it sounds like. I sure home it's speedier that they think it will be. Keep doing whatever they say will help. Don't give up. When I broke my arm 2 years ago the Dr. said I probably would never be able to raise my are straight up over my head again but I would have good use. That was when we were on checkups on our phones because of the COVID shutdown. I broke it in the end of March. On our late May checkup, he asked me to show him how high I could raise my arm. It went over my head! He should never have said I would never do it again. I was determined to prove him wrong! I bet you have the same determination! Show him!
I hope everyone with colds is feeling better and Spring has Sprung where y'all live! I wish you a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. And may God bless us, every one! And may He watch over the Ukrainians!
Darn! I forgot to say something.... AMY, I checked out the recipes today and copied some down then checked to see what ingredients I had. I made the "Easy Hobo Supper" and it was sooooo good! I put it in my saved recipes! It's a keeper!
I am having a good time tonight
watching Bridgeton on Netflix !
Oh how I would like to have lived
(for spell, only) during that ERA.
So many Balls and dancing..
This series is good, IMHO and fun
to watch ..
Sandy
Sandy, I thoroughly enjoyed the early '50s, music we could sing along with & all kinds of fun dancing. We had a huge middle & high school combo, 7 elementary schools dumped into the 3 story 8th-12th grade. At that time there was a Catholic school system & a "Colored" school system. In MY mind there was no prejudice, that was just how it was. When I went to a class reunion (luncheon) this past summer I still felt like I was in a room full of the nicest people that ever lived. So few left .... I was sure I was the luckiest person in the world because I was happy with what I had & never wished for what anyone else had. Couple of my best friends parents were millionaires & a couple of us were "railroad brats", some got everything they asked for and some of us didn't ask. Sounds pretty corny (expression of that era).... we had our formal dances, some of us made our own formals & proud of our creations. It all boils down to making the best of the hand we are dealt, no matter what anyone else has. For sure I'd have enjoyed those balls with you, but happy I lived the years where & when I did.
Sweet dreams & God Bless and wishing all a happy tomorrow. :walkwhistle:
Let's make a new start HERE (https://www.seniorsandfriends.org/index.php?topic=929.msg215581#msg215581)
