Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

Just stopping by to check out!  Today, I had some sitting down work to do so I also did some very important Christmas prep.  There are three movies that I have to watch before it really feels like Christmas around here and today I squeezed in 2 of them.  I watched "White Christmas" with Bing Crosby, Danny Kay, Rosemary Clooney and Vera Ellen.  Then I watched "It's a Wonderful Life" with Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed.  I'm beginning to feel like Christmas.  But I still have to watch "Miracle on 34th Street" (the original with Natalie Wood.

Now I'm going to hit the haystack!  Tomorrow, Cooper will be here earlier than usual so we have to be ready!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, germ-free tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good Morning everyone. another of those restless Nights. so I am up early, well Nancy and I both, and we are not fussing with each other, just we neither can sleep very well. both of us will most likely have Naps after while In front of T V. Hope you all  Have a good day better than we are so far.

Shirley

You posted about the time I got up this morning, Lloyd. I went to bed before 10:00 last night but will also probably take a nap today. Fitbit says I got 5 hours & 15 min. sleep.

Jane, my fav movies to get ready for the season, but only caught a few min of White Christmas because Andy stopped by to put my wagon together for me & put the new filter in the humidifier. It was more complicated (both) than I expected. Today I need to go to the "Tag Office" to pay tax & get tag for the new car. My poor check book is howling... and I still have to renew my driver's license & also my conceal carry permit. Different places & always new policies with COVID.

This is my brother in law's birthday and my long ago school friend's birthday (she has been gone about 10 years now) and we "older Friends" can remember Pearl Harbor and what we were doing when we heard the news. I was squatting down on the floor furnace reading the Sunday comics, 6 years old, and heard my mother scream out as she listened to the radio while fixing breakfast. This disaster we seem to be more divided than ever before, not pulling together to fix us.

Amy

Good morning everyone..

Brrr tis not a warm one out there, temp is 11° F at the moment.
We are off to the Dr to get blood work done then home to work. We were going to head on into the city but with this wheel bearing making a noise I don't feel comfortable doing so.

Got to run...

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning everyfriend!  I think 7 a.m. in Honolulu is around noon here so we were already home from church when we got the news about Pearl Harbor!  I was 6 years old in 1941 so I didn't really comprehend what was going on but I knew it was bad just by my grandfather's reaction.  That whole day changed forever.  And Shirley, you're right.  We don't know how to handle what's happening right now in our lives.

Now I have to go get dressed and feed Mickie  Then she'll need a walk.  BRRRRR!!! it's cold out there!  We've been on a shortie to the yard and I didn't like it.

Do what you like with your day!  Make it your own in every way!

We were visiting some friends of my parents on Dec. 7th and I had been allowed  to go to the Sunday movie matinee because there was no one my age to play with and I was feeling bored/lonely.   They stopped the movie and made the announcement from the stage.   I was twelve and wasn't really sure of where Pearl Harbor was  but, of course, learned quickly enough in school the next day.  I remember listening to Pres. Roosevelt on the radio and his Declaration of War speech the next day.  It is hard to realize that it was 79 years ago.

Cold here, too, and wet....but, not white so it's OK.

Take care, All.

Good morning everyone, sorry I have been AWOL.  Saturday I slept  just about all day. Called my daughter and told her I would not be on skype.Slept most of yesterday, too. Most every time I have  to go anyplace for an appointment it  just wears me out. Going to my #1 son's for Christmas will get me tired, too, from sitting and doing nothing.
Then I needed new ba tteries in my mouse and I could not get the old batteries out. Guess there was enough juice in them for this. My hands are not strong enough for the darn HP mouse and the crazy way they have the batteries in. Hope Yvette can get that out today. Only mouse that works with this lemon HP.
Better get off before they batteries stop again.
Have a good day and hope t omorrow every thing will work again.

Here is they picture four years ago when they were just one month old.

Shirley

Hope Yvette got the batteries taken care of, Gloria, & everything else looking better. It was chilly but sunny today, one of those times my mother used to say "pneumonia weather". She was sure everyone would be fooled by the sun, not wrap up & catch a cold. My daughter in law doesn't believe you catch a cold that way so thought nothing of her kids going out in winter with wet heads from just taking a shower. I tried to bite my tongue but did tell her that "her husband got an ear infection & cold every time he got wind in his ears from not wearing a cap or something over his head in winter."

I'm crashing early tonight, got my walk in down to the river, the beaver is still munching down more trees, on the other side of the path. Looks like it has been cutting off more branches of the big trees they cut down earlier this week.

If it doesn't get too windy tonight I have a big pile of leaves cornered in the back yard & plan to open the gate to put in the dumpster in the morning, before I put the mulcher away. Every time I start messing with the leaves I get angry that others never pick theirs up. If I had the trees all these leaves came from I'd be living in a forest! I learned to identify leaves long ago so can't fool this old lady! Not that it does any good to gripe.

Jane, how's the pup's hip/leg? I've got to have a talk with my gr-daughter, her mother said her dog has another infection with trip to the vet & antibiotics. We (her mother & I) think she probably feeds the dog the most expensive dog food you can buy and would be better if she cooked it chicken with rice & veggies. The dog has been a blessing for her with restrictions due to Covid... but she isn't noted for her "common sense". She is sharp as a tack & always has been, BUT.... should I admit... spoiled???  She also spoils the dog & probably why it gets sick so often, trips to "doggy day care" and "play dates" with friends dogs, at the dog parks. She has a good job & works lots of hours in the aircraft industry, so can afford what she thinks is best (and not always is...)

Sweet dreams to all and hope tomorrow is a step closer to kicking the virus. OH, forgot to mention, my surprise lilies (naked ladies is another name) have tips of the leaves sticking out of the ground! For sure, Mother Nature is confused.  Shirley

Oops, you snuck in, Lloyd. I'll try to have a look at the photos after I get this posted.
  :walkwhistle:  :christmastree:

Shirley

Darling girls, Lloyd!  I notice their hair is parted on different sides so maybe they are "mirror twins"... my twin aunts were. One was right handed & the other left.

JaneS

LLOYD, your ittle girls are beautiful!  They're going to break some hearts when they get a little older!

SHIRLEY, Mickie still favors her leg now and then but it's not slowing her down and she does the porch steps just fine.  She still waits for me to lift her up on the bed at night but she gets down by herself in the morning.  Sometimes, when she doesn't even try to get up on the sofa with me, I think it must be a little sore but I let her try most things and she's pretty good about doing them.

I GOT ALL THE BOXES PACKED AND READY FOR THE POST OFFICE OR UPS TODAY!!1 YAY

Now I'm off to the haystack!  I hope it's loaded with zzzzzs because tomorrow is shaping up to be a doozy of a day!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy, germ-free tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Shirley

Glad to see Mickie (have I mentioned that was my first dog's name, only spelled Mickey Mouse, was the "in" item back when we were 6 years old).... is doing okay. I'm going back to bed, woke up & stretched & a leg cramp got me up. With taking the antibiotic morning & night I can't take my 1000 mg Tum for calcium because from what I've read, will cut the dose in about half it's intended... & those Tums keep me from having leg cramps. Just got me a new supply of Gatorade so chased that Tum down with a couple small glasses of it. Leg okay so will get more zzzzzzzzs before my day starts. Good you got the boxes ready, Jane, I can't believe we are only weeks from Christmas!

Amy

Good morning
Temp didn't like where it was so it dropped to +2° Good day to stay in  :)
Yesterday went well on the way we saw what was left of the grocery store.  A brick wall was about it in all the ruble. The community is rallying around for those that don't drive and need groceries.

Today is tackling the dust bunnies, washing floors and taking van in to get rid of the horrid noise!

Lloyd, beautiful twin and family. Love the setting they used to take the photo.Jane is right they are going to steel hearts for sure.

Jane, glad to hear Mickie's leg is better. I wish I had your energy, since this cold which is just about gone  I haven't had much energy.

Shirley, my friend told me about this and said she uses it and it works!  Boltons Magnesium Chloride Gel and you just rub a wee bit on your leg. She gets terrible cramps in her legs and feet but said this works.

Gloria ,good to see you. Hope your mouse is now up and running!

Better get a move on...

Enjoy your day and stay  saafe.

good Morning everyone. 26º and heavy fog here this AM, going for high of 53º and Partly sunny. hope you all have a good day just like you like it to bee. thanks for the comments of the great grands, I am getting the grains ground, Not as fast as I thought it should be.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  SHIRLEY, back when I was 6 years old, my grandfather got us our first Scottie and her name was .....MICKEY!  It's a good old fashioned Scottish name!  That's why this one is also named Mickie but spelled differently.  I thought it appropriate that since my first ever Scottie was Mickey, my last ever should also be Mickie!

I had a major MOKEYWRENCH thrown into my plans for today.  This was to be my "finish the running around" day.  I was going to WM to get my hair cut, pick up some gift card and then meet a friend to deliver some home made candy, into town to pick up a prescription an do a couple of other errands and mail the packages.  Frankie's car needs attention!  She made arrangements to have service today but needed my car to get to work!  SOOOOOOOO....

Now it's time for Mickie's walk and she's been very patient.  It's COLD out there and I'd rather not go but we do what we must.

I hope you all have a good day....better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.

It's cold today but sunny.  Yesterday we actually had snow.   :o   Just a little bit and it didn't stay long but it got everyone around here excited.

A little warmer today and I need to get my Christmas cards/gifts mailed so that is the main priority for the day.

Those girls are just adorable, Lloyd.  I loved seeing their picture.

Take care, All.

Good morning everyone, here I am with new batteries and now all I need is a new keyboard. Even the one I got  with this lemon did not work right. I have ann old Dell keyboard and it is an OLD one. Not being able to get out is a bummer.

LLOYD  good looking family and the twin girls are beautiful.

SHIRLEY  remember so many years ago all dogs got were left overs from the table and some were lucky to get that. What you do now with the rice and veggies is about the same as they got  then. Now all the special dog foods makes me wonder at times which is better. You got me to try the Hempvana pain cream and now I would not  be wit hout it, It has helped the pain in my back a lot. They also have some thing for cramps, never checked it out because I don' t have those cramps.

AMY  my daughter has a cold, got it from her husband and just gave it back to him.  We have cut our time on Skype down. When she starts talking she starts coughing, I know how that is. She is like me, seldom gets a cold but it really hits her. This mouse is different from all the others I have used or seen. It opens from the top and there is a clip to hold the bat teries in place, taking that clip out is a job and my hands no longer have the strength to do that.

JANE sorry your plans were thrown for today.

PHYLLIS  we had rain Saturday the turned to snow overnight, only a couple of inches but it has turned cold so it is still here on the grassy areas.

Time for me  to get my breakfast .
Have a good day and s tay safe and healthy, don't forge t your mask.

Laundry done, floors washed and rice pudding cooking for supper tonight. Nipped over and fed "our boy" he can have beggin strips but only if broken apart. He gets 3 pieces and he does know when they are done as he will turn and want his hips scratched. :))

I thought I would get more baking done but that is for another day.

Gloria, Kyle bless his heart shared with me and so far I am not giving it back as he still is dealing with some of the leftover cold.

Phyliss, I am  late getting cards done, my niece in PEI has hers already sent!!

I stopped doing Christmas cards but do send a few JL cards. When your Christmas starts at the end of August and finalizes with January's inventory, it's hard to keep the Christmas Spirit! Even after retirement, it's hard to change.

Yes and the stores here start even before Halloween  to get the merchandise out and the Christmas songs playing..

When I worked at hotels, it wasn't that bad, but in retail, it began at the end of August with four months of irritable shoppers and canned music.

JaneS

This was "one of those days"!  And I'm kind of glad it's over!  I'm here to wish you a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy, germ free tomorrow.

Now I'm going to hit the haystack a little early and try to grab a few extra zzzzzs.  I missed my nap today...too many people stopping by and too many doggies to take walks.

Good night!  Sweet dreams!

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm up and hopefully I'll be "attem" today!  I have a lot planned but a lot of it depends when my car comes back today.  Frankie said her friend and neighbor said she would help her with that project but it all depends on "when"!

I have a routine drs. appointment today and I'm hoping to get some stuff done before that.

I also have one more box to pack.  My granddaughter, Courtney who grew up in Texas has lived in Maryland since graduating college and has spent some of the Christmas holidays with us.  I usually do a Christmas bag for her like I do for everyone else who visits here or lives here.  This year, she went back to graduate school and I just found out that she has about a month of no classes and has decided to drive to Ok and spend Christmas with her family.  So I'll be getting her "box" together to send there!

We're just waiting for the boinger now so we can have our breakfast.  I wish you all a good day, better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.  Enjoy Life!

I'm up but not at anything.  It's not snowing or raining but is a little bit cloudy and really cold.

I canceled my haircut today because the pain in my left leg has sort of intensified so didn't feel like going out in the cold.  My hair hasn't grown that much anyway since the last time I had it cut.

I have a couple more cards to address and a grocery list to make out for David to pick up tomorrow and that is about the sum of my day.

Take care, All.
