The bed is a bundle of paradoxes, we go to it with reluctance, yet we quit it with regret. We make up our minds every night to leave it early, but we make up our bodies every morning to keep it late.

Some people swear there's no beauty left in the world, no magic. Then, how do you explain the entire world coming together on one night to celebrate the hope of a new year?
In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.

New to the Game
I tried out watching football –
I was ensconsed in a chair for hours.
Even ignored dinner call,
When the team went into the showers.
Hell, I just couldn't believe my eyes –
Some gal walked right in to interview.
Well, you can just imagine my surprise –
Didn't seem to daunt the TV crew.
She barged right in and shoved her mike
Into some big naked guy's face.
Poor guy stood there kind of shy-like,
Hands covering that sensitive place.
The team milled around like she wasn't there –
Now isn't that the dangedest thing?
Two dozen men standing ballicky bare,
And her wearing a wedding ring.
Soon, the old coach had had enough,
And he told the reporter to go.
The brazen woman called his bluff,
By simply telling the old coach, "No!"
Equal rights were hers she said –
She had the same privileges as men.
Well, the coach was seeing red,
Shouting, "I'm not telling you again!"
"But, coach," she pled, "can't you even see
That this attitude isn't fair?
I've earned my journalism degree.
How about if I, too, go bare?"
And, with that, she began to undress
Right there in front of the team.
How far she got I can only guess,
For then I woke from the dream.

:hb2: Happy New Year Everyone :hb2:
Good morning..
Bubble thank you for the new start of a New Year and the giggles.
Just another day for us, will play catch up on things that need to be done and things that may get done.
Lots of fireworks going off last night , thankfully they didn't seem to bother the dogs.
Enjoy your day and stay safe..
Loved reading the quotes Bubble. Thank you.
Last night, I watched India's newest rocket launch last night and then started watching some of the fireworks displays from around the world before deciding it was time for bed. I plan on watching reruns of some of the others I missed, including the Philly and DC displays while my slow-cooker pork roast is cooking. Believe it or not, the grocery store ran out of the potatoes I had on order, so - mashed potatoes it will be. I am also going to try cooking carrot slices in with the pork and sauerkraut since I didn't get the potatoes I wanted.
It is wet looking outside, but no snow. We were to get off and on flurries overnight, nothing that would lay.
Thank you, Bubble, for opening a new conversation for a New Year!
My parents were "Yankees" so I didn't learn to eat Black-Eyed Peas on New Year's Day (for good luck all year) until I married a Mississippi native. I prefer them in the rice dish "Hoppin' John" but it would be too many leftovers to make it just for me - so I'll just eat a spoonful or two heated straight out of the can.
MarsGal, I think you'll like carrots cooked in the slow cooker with the pork roast. Whole ones will work, too.
Enjoy your day, Everyone.
P.S. Rammel, would you tell me the Bird Watching website you mentioned a long time ago? Son had to "scrub" the apps on my tablet and I can't remember what it was. It had webcams from New Zealand, somewhere in Canada and several in the USA.

I'll try to find it --- but --- I'm good for losing things in my computer. Give me a bit of time. I think it was at an Upstate (NY) University. It was on my Desktop but I can't find it there now. Hope it's not lost.
BTW - That pork Roast / carrots sounds delish.
Callie, Try this. Let me know if this is the right one.

Right now I see Woodpeckers, Cardinals, Chickadees, and a Goldfinch.
Rammel, You say you loose things on computer, I have now lost just about everything ,May have to just scrap and buy new set up as no Techs to be found around my town, Desktop messed up and have 2 Ipads that have now LOcked up and they were my main things, Will get back with apple again soon, They have been turned back to what I call, Back to factory but All my set up with Apple goes back 25 years, They need to get my old set up from Comcast but Comcast has closed down any acct, over 20 years and I can't remember any of my old passwords , Comcast is still my provider but seems only Google accts I have with them will work, One of these days all Tech will be shut down in US, Feel like already done for me,
JeanneP, - I mislead. What I was trying to say is that I save things in my computer, but then forget where I saved them - and rarely find them again. I'm trying to do better, but short on time.
Rammel, the website you mentioned was a YouTube and I would have had to subscribe. I couldn't remember "Cornell" so Googled and found this - which what I had! :) I've added it to my Home Page on the Tablet and put it in Favorites on my computer.

Thanks for the help!!!
Yes, the pork with sauerkraut and carrots was very good indeed. Oh, and I found that I had an unopened jar of Caraway Seeds and added some in. I used to grow caraway and used the seeds a lot back when I had Wednesdays set aside for baking day.
Callie, I've done both Hoppin' John and Black-Eyed Peas. I have to agree with you about the Hoppin' John. I also like Dirty Rice and Black Bean Soup when it comes to Southern foods. My sister used to do up a mess of Collard Greens on occasion, but I don't think she has made it since Jim died.
Both happy and sad news this past week. Erik and Barrent (I am not sure that is the correct spelling) were married in hospital shortly before Christmas so that Barrent's mom could participate. Unfortunately, while she got her wish to see them married, she only lived a few more days. She passed away on Barrent's birthday. So, from now on, Christmas will forever be a bit bitter-sweet for them.
I love that Southern terminology, MarsGal, "mess of greens". My Mom, and aunts all used that term. "I'm cookin' up a mess o' greens, you want to make some cornbread and come over"?
I told my husband that, if he wanted a mess of greens, he could go to his mother's!
Tome, I'll bet your relatives didn't put sugar in their cornbread, either.
That and fried okra were the two "southern" things I learned to cook and like after we were married. Sons used to eat fried okra like popcorn!
Callie, --- On the site you gave, among other things, is the Cornell site. Click on that. When the new page opens click on it, but don't click where is says view at Youtube. --- Hope that makes sense.
Rammel, I got it by clicking on Live Cameras. That brings up the ones I kept up with before.

GOOD MORNING EVERYFRIEND!!! Im off to my sisters today so I can help her celebrate her 90th birthday tomorrow !!
Now, okra is something for which I never acquired a taste.
I woke up this morning to the live cast of a plane crash and fire in Japan. Amazingly, all passengers and crew of the commercial airline escaped. The Japanese Coast Guard crew weren't so lucky, one out of six escaped. The last time I checked, the other five were found but they hadn't yet reported their condition. The Coast Guard plane was getting ready to depart with supplies for victims of the earthquake when it was struck by the airliner.
Other than getting some housework done, I have nothing exciting on my agenda for the day.
Good afternoon...
This has been a busy day getting a multitude of things done...last being that lovely (NOT) job of cleaning the oven. I use pans etc under drippy pies and it doesn't get that messy but it does need cleaning.
Jane, Happy Birthday to your sister!!
MG, your day sounded as exciting as mine. Was a blessing that the Mom could see her daughter married.
Better go see what I can avoid doing :))
Enjoy your evening and stay safe.
Callie, I think my Mom always put a little dab of sugar in her cornbread like maybe a tablespoon. I like it that way too. In the matter of okra, I seem to have always liked okra, Mom basically boiled it with a lot of butter. Texture was unpleasant at first, but grew to love it. Also, she would make okra gumbo, which I loved at first bite, and still do. I like it fried, but since she didnt do much frying (chicken & fish), I caught on to that version at an older age. Hey, I love food!
I want to throw a question out here since more people read and respond to this: Back when I was a kid, my Mom bought something called "salt rising bread". Does anyone remember this? Ever eaten it? And did it have a special purpose? I remember it had a different taste from other breads, and I liked it. Let me know!

Tomereader, at first I thought you were asking about a kind of soda bread like the Irish Soda Bread, but it isn't at all. This forum might answer some of your questions about salt-rising bread. https://forum.breadtopia.com/t/salt-rising-bread/21943 and another article I found https://www.atlasobscura.com/articles/how-to-make-salt-rising-bread The histories of the bread claim that the recipe originated in Appalachian Mountain area, but I wouldn't be at all surprised to find breads made in a similar fashion date back much further than that. I particularly liked reading the short history and seeing the step-by-step photos of the starter mix.
Good morning..
Temp is starting out at 26° and there is a light dusting of crunchy snow. They say we are to get light snow or rain, I'll take the snow please.
Working around home today...another put off job is getting done.
MG ,thank you for the sites.Salt rising almost sounds like sour dough bread with the stages of bread making. That is one job I need to do today but it will just be regular bread dough.
Bubble, thank you for posting the photos. Phyllis had asked if I used the red centres in the log cabins.
Best get the day started, it seems it has faster running shoes on than I do lately.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
I'm not doing well on this computer. that bread you were asking about sounds like the recipe that has been carried down in my family from my grandfathers bakery days unfortunately Im not the one it rested on in my generation. but my sister abd i were just talking about it yesterday and we ate rolls for supper made over the recipe!!
There was something else I was going to comment on but I don't want to lose this so have a great day Everyfriend! Make it your own in every way!!I
Well, thanks for all that wonderful information. HOwever I don't think I'll be making any on my own. And I wonder, since it had such a "different" aroma, why I liked the bread (long ago).
It's so nice to have something pop into your head, and can ask a question here in these forums, and receive answers. I wish I could remember what I was pondering when the "salt rising bread" question lit the brain light bulb! I could almost taste it from many, many years ago. I do remember we toasted the bread and buttered it heavily.
Thanks MarsGal and JaneS.
Amy, your quilts are absolutely gorgeous! What patience (and talent) you have.
Well, I fixed a "po' folks supper tonight; leftover black-eyed peas, cornbread (which I kind of fancied up)didn't have a mess o' greens, nor ham hock to go with it. I did have a tall glass of cold buttermilk. The fancying up of the cornbread was just the Jiffy mix, and I divided the milk with some broccoli cheese soup. Made a good taste and the texture was good, not falling apart crumbly like usual. I think my momma would have enjoyed this supper with me, but she would've fixed the "mess o' greens".
Good morning..
Another busy day ahead, getting ready for company. We did get about 1-2 inches of snow during the night, nothing to worry about though. Garden seeds are in the grocery store and folks are snapping them up. I am going to pick some up before they are gone.
Tomereader, thank you.I find that quilting relaxes me, my quiet time.Plus it is fun to see it all come together. The one I am working on now has over 1700 pieces in it. What is a "mess o'greens?
Better get busy..
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning Everyfriend!! I'm up and about and had breakfast ad did my first set of eye drops for the day. y sister is still sleeping i dont think she sleeps very well.
last night we ate out with my niece to celebrate her 90 years with us!!!
i better post this before i lose it have a great day Everyfriend!!!
Just checking in. Nothing much t say. It's 9:30 and still fairly dark out. The predictions for snow keep coming and going. Hope it ends with going.
The predictions for snow keep coming and going. Hope it ends with going.
Me too!! They say we are to get 10" on Mon night into Tue.Hope they are right on that as we are off to the city for Kyles appointment. Told the nurse better give us a phone numbe in case we have to cancel......the joys of winter..
Gaahhhhh! Oscar just disappeared my post. I'll be back with an answer to your question Amy, if someone else hasn't already. It is obvious that he wants lunch.
I am back already. So, for Amy, et.al., a mess-of-greens is any (usually) combo of dark leafy greens such as kale, collard, chard, beet greens, etc. Note that they are all the tougher sorts of greenery. I've heard of people also adding cabbage; I think Bok Choi would be a good choice, but I never tried it with other greens. Blanch your greens, quickly, in salted water, then lightly sauté them in a little oil. Olive oil is good and so is bacon fat if you don't mind the cholesterol. Season if you want, your choice, or add bits of cooked bacon. I it is called a mess-of-greens because it is a very flexible, your choice kind of thing.
In case anyone misses it, Oldiesman just posted this an hour or so ago.
https://www.seniorsandfriends.org/site-announcements/fyi-server-move-1009/msg245491/?topicseen#msg245491
Thank you MG....sounds tasty all but the kale!! :2funny: I would try the Bok Choi and throw in garlic along with the bacon
plus onions! Had to look up collard greens, big leaf!!! Sounds like something we would enjoy.
Company is now coming tomorrow....guess I shall go sew.
Don't forget the "turnip greens" which is mostly what we used here. You can now buy collard greens in the grocery stores here. Not a lot of choice way back then.
I've always wanted to try Bok Choy, but haven't yet. I saw a recipe the other day that called for Bok Choy but I forgot where I saw it!
Good Morning Exeryfriend!!! When I finish here I'll be packing up my computer. My daughter Cathy will be on her way to pick me up later today and I'll be heading home i've truly enjoyed my visit with my sister but I'm ready to be back in my own digs!
I wish you all a great day! Make it your own in every way
Good morning...
Company coming today for lunch. After that I am heading to the sewing room.
Jane, nice to get away but also nice to come home to your own bed. Cooper will be so glad to see you!!!
Tomereader ,turnip greens are another that we haven't (yet) ate..
Better get the day started.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good morning from the Interior at minus nine. Our weather has been all over the place these past few weeks but came with nine inches of new snow since we last spoke on December 21st. We only have 0.02 left on the ground, but more snow is due today.
My previous computer died of mechanical failure, not virus related, and I'm so glad I had those external drives and didn't lose all.
I'm back today with a new laptop and Bubble's help, and so very happy to be back online. I'll be catching up here and elsewhere for days.
Likewise, I see Jane's on a trip, Amy's quilting, and Rick and Callie's out bird watching. Thanks, Rick, for the sites, and I'll be back to those I bookmarked.
MG, I don't think I'd like those breads that come with their own pathogens, I'm not one to live dangerously.
I've had lots of greens in my life with both sets of in laws from Kentucky; but I've never acquired a taste for them. I believe it's a regional taste. My relatives were solidly midwestern, and their tastes leaned more to pork, beef, corn, onions and potatoes with lots of spicy sauces.
Oh woe is me, my Facebook account that I never had, has been hacked by, gasp!, Russia!
I must immediately reply to their address so they can save me and of course my non-existent Facebook account...or not.
How stupid would I have to be to answer that, and they're not the only would be savior in my email's spam folder. All of them satiating to save my nonexistent Facebook account!
Company is gone and now time to just relax!!!
We did get a wee bit of snow but nothing to worry about.
Patricia, great to see you in here. ( nailing Patricia's shoes to the floor so she stays put!!!)
Jane, are we back to normal yet? Do we ever get to being back to normal......always something going on.
Ok, time to get in pjs and lounge :)
Hello Everyfriend! I'm home but I'm not sure is we can say "normal"! Everything changes every minute! I'm still doing the thing with my eyes and it takes every spare minute I have. I'm not all unpacked yet and I have to read all the newspapers that came while I was gone!
We're supposed to get a major snowstorm beginning tomorrow afternoon. It will be the first of the season and they are predicting up to 14 inches of snow. I don't plan to go anywhere and I don't expect any company. Frankie is off work for the weekend and she will probably spend it at home. I sure hope she doesn't try to drive in it!
Now I'm heading for the haystack as soon as I do one last thing with my eyes. I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy day tomorrow. Make it your own in every way!
Good Morning to me and whoever stops by today. I'm finished with my breakfast and I'm going to make the bed and get started on my eyeballs for the day. I wish you all a good one and I'm going to be looking out the windows to see if it starts to snow. Make your day the best one yet!
Good morning...
Tad chilly out there this morning temp of 21° at the moment. Will see if I hang out the laundry on the solar dryer or not when daylight wakes.
Jane, David said you were in for some snow so he opted to go another direction. He heads out on Sun so I hope the weather is better.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Jane, looks like you put us to bed last night and woke us up this morning. I'm glad you are back home before the storm.
It looks like it is to start snowing here around 9:30-10:00am here. Every time I look, the weather forecast changes as to how much we will get. Right now it seems to be 6-8 inches. I[m probably going to have to call someone to help dig me out of this one.
Patricia, it's great to see you posting again. I hope you enjoy your new laptop.
Good morning --- and - Our "snowcast" also keeps changing. Now it shows just a bit today, and some real snow tomorrow. Maybe at midnight tonight it will change again (I hope).
Good morning, minus 18 and clear out there, so I'm glad I'm indoors. So far, our weather has been unusually warm for a normally frigid month. The highs and lows are all over the place, instead of uniformly frigid.
Our meet and greets are starting to be more texts than calls, but that's okay as long as we hear from everyone.
Other than that, everything is the same here with daily chores, indulging Farrah and catching up on those past 14 days accumulation.
Well they were right! The snow started around noon and it's really coming down! We're supposed to have somewhere in the neighborhood of 14 or more inches. My neighbor just called to tell me he's not going to do any plowing until after the township clears the road and then he'll do his driveway and mine. We went shopping for the snow blower together at WM and used his knowledge and my discount and we paid the rest together and he does my driveway. Seems like a pretty good deal to me!
I don't have anywhere to that I NEED to go so I'm okay with that!
I made a batch of "Jim's Egg Thingys" today so I'm ready for breakfast. I think I'll stick something in the crock pot tomorrow. Haven't decided what just yet. I'm still looking for the recipe that AMY wants from me and so far, no luck finding it. I have two more places to look and then I'll have to give up!
Now I better go get ready for som eye drops! Seems like that's all I do these days! Have a great day, Everyfriend! Make it your own in every way!
Jane. no hurry..we still have some soup to clean up. We did get snow also....not a lot and I do hope that the 1/2 inch is all we get!
It's snowing here now, but the forecast has changed again. Now there is only a short time in tomorrow's forecast for snow. Also, most of tonight there will be NO snow. But weather forecasters have been known to be wrong.
Well, it's still snowing out there! We're going to be under it!
AMY, I've given up looking for the soup recipe. I'm going to try one more thing. Does anyone have SHIRLEY'S Taco Soup Recipe? She gave it to me and I thought she posted it but I can't find it in the recipes. I'm down to my next to the last jar and was thinking I'd soon have to make more when AMY asked me for the recipe! I CAN'T FIND IT! I know she sent it directly to me and I know I copied it off and saved it. But I CAN'T FIND IT!
Now I'm going to go get my jammies on and think about sleeping! I think church tomorrw will be on line!
I had a message from daughter Cathy that they took her hubby to the hospital today. The took excess fluid from around his heart and out of his ankles and I'm not sure what else. He's there at least overnight! Prayers for Craig would be welcome! Thanks!
Jane, - You must have that recipe somewhere because you have made it multiple times --- according to a S&F Search. Bet it's handy somewhere in the kitchen.
Did you check old emails?
JANE...
...is this it from SHIRLEY.. if anyone wants the one for taco soup, can condense it down for here...
September 15, 2019, 02:22:27 (https://www.seniorsandfriends.org/index.php?msg=161250)
Good Morning Everyfriend!
JACKIE, that is the recipe she was talking about but I didn't see the actual recipe. Is it posted somewhere? I guess I'm blinder than I thought if it's there! HELP!
Good morning...
Looks like the music will start to clean up the driveway and out back for the dogs. Can't really tell but it looks like 3-4 inches of nes snow and thankfully it is fluffy!
Need to deliver a quilt this morning then home to chase dust kangaroos.
Jane, I posted two recipes that I found on the internet, the second one looks good to me minus the green chilies :)) How much snow did you get there?
Rick ,did you get a lot of snow your way?
Better get ready for the dance..
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Jane...
...that was the closest i got to the recipe you are looking for...I am sure it will show itself when the least we expect it...
Jane, I moved your message over here, I think Rick may have the answer for you..
Ever since I came home, my printer won't print. I've checked everything I can think of but so far...nothing! Anyone have an idea?
Rick ,can you help Jane please?
Snow has been dealt with, light fluffy easy to move. Plus our neighbour dropped his plow and did the mouth of the driveway for us. We are blessed with great neighbours as tomorrow they will look after the dogs for us. .they tease that they are taking them to their house!!
Tea time...
Quote from: Amy on January 07, 2024, 10:24:23 AMRick ,can you help Jane please?
Suggestions back on that other page.
Rick, thank you..
Good morning, it's plus 11, a change from yesterday's minus 18. It looks like the entire month will be like that up and down, with slight snow flurries and ice.
Farrah isn't happy with me as I flipped her food from wet to dry. She was taking four or more days to eat a 5 ounce (189 g) can of wet, so back to dry food, which she also eats grudgingly. She'd prefer a steady diet of treats, but that's not happening.
I was browsing through local real estate when I saw a home with two acres, being featured, that belonged to a friend. He had left to live with a son in South Carolina, after his wife died from Covid-19. I had been to his home multiple times with others through the years, and it was sad to look through all those empty rooms.
Not too much going on here. It's icy, slippery and everyone is staying inside, waiting for winter to pass already.
Jane, any word on how Craig is doing? Keeping him in my prayers.
Hello Everyfriend!
Craig's BP is back to normal but they are still removing water from his ankles and from around his heart and another place that I forgot. They gave him a heart scan today but he won't see the Dr. till tomorrow to see what's next. Thanks for asking, AMY!
I'm all finished with my drops for today! YAY!! And I made one of my SiL's Venison roasts in the crock pot with tomatoes, carrots and sweet taters for supper. I think I have enough for about 4 more supper! I also finished up all my laundry....all the stuff I brought home from my trip and all the stuff I left behind to go on my trip! I didn't have Cooper all weekend because Frankie had the weekend off and she stayed home and in out of the snow. But he'll be her bright and early tomorrow morning.
I still can't get my printer working. I guess I'll have to wait until someone has time to stop over and check up on it and see if everything is connected properly. Everything they suggested in text, I had already tried about 3 times! And everything else is working properly so ...... now what!
I'm going to watch a Perry Mason show and then hit the sack. I need to be up early so I can get on set of eye drops done before Cooper gets here. I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. Make the day your own in every way!
Did you disconnect the cord from the printer to the computer for about 10 minutes, then reconnect. That has worked for me previously.
When you click on print, make sure the correct printer is selected.
Good morning..
Off to the city to the hospital for an appointment for Kyle this morning. Don't have to worry about supper tonight as it will be leftovers from last night. If we get home in good time I can make and apple pie and throw it in the oven for dessert. Thankfully no snow is predicted for today.
Jane, bet you are doing the happy dance that the drops are overwith. Hope the drops do what they were intended for.
Better get my city duds on, wheelchair was put in the vehicle last night just have to get our water bottles .
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning Everyfriend! Cooper arrived at his usual time of 6:45 a.m. and had his breakfast, waited patiently for me to get dressed and then we went for a walk. He doesn't seem to mind walking in the snow but he sure did look hard for some bare grass to use for a potty!
I just had a text from Cathy! Craig is being released from the hospital today! That's all she knows until she gets there and hears the instructions for "what to do" when they get home! He has a twin sister and she must have got all the healthy genes!
I guess I better go and separate the pot roast into dinner size portions and get it read for meals. I'm ready to eat it already! It sure was a good supper!
AMY, have a safe trip to the city and back! I wish Kyle well!
I wish you all a good day! Make it your own in every way!
Good morning from the Interior at plus sixteen and expecting more snow flurries this afternoon. I've finished my chores, fed and watered Farrah and me, plus read the majority of the texts from our meet and greets. Otherwise, it's another day to do what I can and see what I'll put off until tomorrow.
Amy, I hope Kyle's appointment brings good news and easy travel to and from the city. I hope your weather has been free of the rain and storms of the northeastern US. I wish the US were also free of the storms, but this seems to have become winter business as usual for that corridor.
Jane, I'm glad for you, Cathy and Craig, that he's well enough to go home. And that Cooper's back visiting, I'm sure you're glad to see him and settle back into a routine at home. I'm not fond of walking in the snow, either. The only time I enjoyed traveling in snow was when it was by sled.
Here's hoping everyone has a wonderful day as you like it, and I'm off to play catch up on the computer.
Good evening.
I am still among the living but holding on with all my might😩😩
I finally got the OK today that my spine / neck surgery will be done this coming Wednesday the 10th. I had my physical last Thursday and the way I was feeling I was quite concerned that they would even consider doing it. They said they would call me Monday, today to let me know and thankfully they did all is OK.
I hope that I will soon be feeling better and will be able to join in here more often. I miss you all and your daily going's on🥰🥰🥰
Good morning...
Yesterday went well. We were on the road at 5:30 am and do you know there is not much traffic at that hour?? That is because most everyone is snuggled down under the covers! :2funny: I am not a fan of driving in the dark anymore but we did ok. In an out before appointment time, can't beat that!! Now to wait for the results.
Jane and Patricia, thank you ,we did have a safe trip.Even the deer stayed in bed at that hour!!
Today is getting ready for the storm ahead.11+ inches of snow and then rain.I hope I get the snow cleaned away before the rain or it will be too heavy for me to move. :(
Jane, good news on Craig...lets hope he is on the mend now.
Patricia, are you in for this snack of snow?
Jenny ,all the best on the surgery tomorrow..Good to "see" you in here!
Better get ready to see what the day may bring..
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning Everyfriend! It's nice to see everyone!
JENNY, I do wish you well with your upcoming surgery! I'll be keeping you in my prayers! I hope it brings you the relief you need and that life is better after.
AMY, good news on your trip. You made it back safely! Bad time of year to be on the road.
Now it's snowing again and I'm thinking that I might have Cooper overnight tonight! Frankie does not like driving on snowy roads. Come to think of it, maybe I'll have her overnight, too. I'm closer to her job that her apartment is!
I hope you all have a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
Good morning from an Interior at plus three and more snow. However, we have about 0.02 accumulation and temperatures are to rise again tomorrow. Basically, the same weather pattern we've seen since mid-December but a rarity during January, usually a frigid month.
I've finished all my chores, meet and greets and fed a non enthused Farrah. She's the epitome of picky.
Jenny, I hope that the surgery goes well, and your doctors will be able to resolve that long-standing problem. I'm hoping for less pain and more mobility for you, and will be thinking of you on Wednesday.
Jane, you are certainly getting slammed with the same snow that Amy and Rick will have. I'm hoping that the rain stays away and the forecasted snow will be a lot less than thought.
Enjoy your time with Cooper and perhaps Frankie too.
Amy, stay warm, safe, and hopefully no need for dancing with the snowblower! That's too much snow to have to deal with.
I'm glad yesterday's trip was easy, under the cover of darkness, and hope Kyle's results are good!
I hope everyone here and any of those dropping in, have a wonderful day, as Lloyd says, as you like it.
The snow is still falling!! I have already had a dance and will likely have another come morning. If I left it till morning and it rains ,there is no way I can move it, this way it is not too bad.....I hope!!
Patricia, I don't mind the dance it is the blowback of the cold snow!! If that is all my problems I should be so lucky. Dogs are happy I did their trails out back for them and goodness knows how they will be come morning.
Jane and Rick is it still snowing there?
Quote from: Amy on January 09, 2024, 04:14:25 PMJane and Rick is it still snowing there?
Ours is not predicted to be snow, but lots of rain - as it is doing now. Coupled with the melt off of the last snow and today's rain it should bring the usual flooding. Once again I say I'm lucky as I live at the top of the hill.
Good Afternoon,
First of all - Jenny, I wish you Good Luck for a successful surgery (finally!!) and Good Recovery. You've dealt with this for too long!
Has anyone heard from Beverly in Florida? Hope she isn't in the areas that have been hit with damaging tornadoes. My friend in the panhandle says there were two close to her in the wee hours of this morning and she's been without power for about 14 hours.
We're getting "off and on" winter "storms". I opened blinds this morning to see grass covered with snow. Sun has finally come out and it's basically gone but the temperatures are hovering around freezing and wind chill is in the teens. Also saw a flock of robins exploring the yard.
Tomorrow, it's supposed to reach 55 degrees! Another snow/freeze/??? is supposed to come through on Friday/Saturday and a 3rd one the first of next week. :crazy2:
Stay warm and safe, Everyfriend. :smitten:
We got a little more snow and then rain for the rest of the day on top of it so all the roads and driveways were slushy until ther was enough rain and traffic to wash it away. The roads are OK now but there's snow everywhere else.
Craig is home from the hospital but still has lots of water that needs to come out. He has two dr. appts this week and I'm waiting to hear the results.
Cathy was by today and stopped at the store for some things and dropped off milk for me! When Frankie picked up Cooper this afternoon, she also picked up a container of my pot roast to have for her supper and a list and my card for the store tomorrow after work!
Now I'm heading off to the haystack. I've been getting up before the birds these last few days so I can get my first set of eye drops and heat done and have my breakfast before Cooper gets here. Now I'm ready to find a niche in the stack and shove my way in for the night. Morning will come early again tomorrow! I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. Make it your own day in every way!
And the rains came ----. Getting real wet around here. The worse of it to be during the night. With that thought I say good night to all that may float in.
Good morning..
Rained here last night when I let the dogs out for last call. After I cleaned the driveway and yard we did get about another 1 1/2 inches and it can stay there, will make good footing if we do get more rain today.
Will work around home then off this afternoon to get my hair cut.
Rick ,hope there wasn't too much flooding in your area.
Jane, enjoy your time with Cooper..
Callie,I would enjoy your 55° ,we are at 32° at the moment..
Better get ready to meet the day..
Enjoy your day and stay safe..
Haven't listened to the local news yet but I'm sure we have flooding judging by the sound of the rain during the night. We have a few locations that flood often with less rain. Roads that are adjacent to rivers/streams flood often. Upstream building and more and more runoff don't help.
Good Morning Everyfriend! I still don't have a printer and I've tried everything anyone shared with me to try. I think I need someone to sit down in front of the computer and work it out. And it needs to be someone much more competent than I am! Cathy would be a good one but she has her own problems to deal with and I'm not even asking her. Not only is Craig having problems...now she has a bad shoulder!
Maybe I'll call the computer place where I got my last computer and maybe I get a new printer. Maybe it's just worn out and tired like me!
Today, our roads are all clear and a lot of the "yard snow" has disappeared. We're heading for a high of 49 degrees today with light rain later today. So I'm betting that most of the snow will be gone by tomorrow.
I think Cooper missed me while I was away. He's following me around and if I sit down beside him he cuddles up and licks my hand or my nose if it's close enough!
I'm still doing the drops and I'll be glad when that's over. I hope we have nice weather for Valentine's Day weekend. That's when grandson Kyle and his sweetheart, Tori will be having their wedding! And we need to travel to Philadelphia. I sure hope Cathy and Craig are both better by that time because it's their son!
I wish you all a wonderful day! Make it your own in every way! Do what suits you best!
Good morning from the Interior at minus four on this January tenth in the Interior.
I think I've gone through the bulk of emails, downloads and putting everything to rights on this laptop. Now, I'm in the midst of going through and making sure duplicates are deleted and everything is where it needs to be.
If I hadn't invested in my external drives and if I hadn't been working on old cleanups when the computer died, I would have had to start over from scratch. The repair folks said it was worn out and couldn't be fixed. I highly recommend external drives and that they aren't connected to your computer when not in use.
Jane, I wish we lived closer, as I have a printer from four years ago that has never been used. It was given to me, and my arthritic hands aren't capable of dealing with removing and inserting those ink cartridges in tight spaces.
We won't have any flooding until everything thaws in the Spring and all that mountain snow melts into the closer five rivers. The main cause is when the ice goes out, it often jams and the buildup behind floods the river villages and small towns.
Amy, I would enjoy your plus 32! We received another 0.02 inches yesterday, and with the forecasted seesaw between plus and minuses, we probably won't see that much more.
PATRICIA, thanks for the thoughts about the printer!
I'm just stopping by to say....
GOOD NIGHT EVERYFRIEND! I'm heading for the haystack! I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow!
Good Morning to myself and anyone else who stops by! Have a good day!
Good morning
Work around home today. Yesterday after getting my hair cut I thought I would try and clean up some wet snow only to find out the neighbour came and dropped his plow and did it!
My computer is having fits at the moment, not sure what is wrong .
Enjoy your day and stay safe
Good morning, minus five, clear and chill in the Interior.
I'm still integrating my computer and each time I think I'm done or close enough, I find something else stuck in a corner.
:tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: Snowing again here.....guess I should be thankful it is not rain. Have a big pot of chicken noodle soup cooking on the back of the stove .
Jane ,just a thought, what if you unplugged your printer, take it out of your computer and reinstalled everything as if it was a new one?? I know I am shooting at stars here.but worth a try..
The printer worked before she took the computer on vacation - so it should still work. If it plugs into a USB or HDMI port it may be in a different one, and the computer can't find it. So far we don't even know if the power comes back on, or at what point it fails. The re-installing sounds like a good idea.
What make and model is it? Does it still pass a self test?
So far, I've tried everything with the computer that you are suggesting! It does have power it just doesn't accept the signal to print! I'm going to call the place where I got my computer. The printer is a cheapy from WM and it really doesn't do what I'd like it to do but it was all I could afford when I got it and it's going on 6 years old now! I do appreciate all the time you people have taken to advise me but I think I need someone right here and I think one of the service guys where I bought my computer will come over and maybe bring the printer I really wanted when I got the computer!
Thank you all for being there for me!
Jane, my friend just got a new printer from Costco and really likes it. She bought a Epson ecotank one on sale. She does a lot of printing and have yet to run the ink dry.
Listened to the noon news and they are blessing us with a foot of snow on Fri evening. Goodness knows how much we will get today as it is still snowing!!! It is winter. :)
Thank you, AMY, for keeping the snow where you are! I really don't want any more of it here!
Tomorrow, I have to work my eye schedule around Frankie's "off work" schedule so I can go with her to WalMart and do my own shopping for a change. It's her day off but she has a vet appt for Cooper at noon so she's planning on shopping after that. I'm going to try to work my eye drop schedule into that!
Now I'm going to hit the hay! I'm tired right down to my sox and I'm not wearing any sox so that's bad! Good Night Everyfriend! Sleep a peaceful sleep and wake refreshed. Make tomorrow all your own!
Goodnight from here.
Good morning from here..
Tad chilly here ,starting out at 7° and anywhere from 6 -12 inches of snow to come. Weather girl said last night that yesterdays snow was the appetizer and today Sat was the main meal.
Picking up a few things in town just in case we do get a snack full of snow. The need to use up some apples so appleasauce and may can some for later.
Jane, after that wet snow, fresh snow will soften the ice from it being pushed up into banks.....I hope.
Patricia, are you still in the minus temps?
Rick, was there much flooding in your area?
Phyliss, everything ok your way?
Callie,how is the arm/hand/shoulder doing?
Better get at it,just remembered need to pick up Kyles blister pack also.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning Everyfriend! Thank you to everyfriend for all the help regarding my printer. It's still balking! I do appreciated everyfriend taking time to email me and to think about what it might be that is causing the problem!
I'm ready to meet Frankie for our shopping trip and I've decided that I'll see if I can get a haircut while I'm there! I seem to have a bush growing on top of my head!
AMY, take good care of KYLE. It sounds like he might just be pretty special to you!
CALLIE, I hope you are getting some relief from your pain. I'm keeping you in my prayers!
I better get on my horse and get moving! I have things to do. I did get most of the Christmas stuff put away the last few days. Thank goodness for that!
I wish you all a good day! Make it your own in every way!
Quote from: Amy on January 12, 2024, 07:01:27 AMRick, was there much flooding in your area?
Luckily I'm at the top of the hill. Once in a while we get some water leakage from too much ground water. It comes in where sewer and water pipes enter the house. But - none yet this time. More rain due over night and snow "scheduled" for Tuesday. The local little rivers and streams did overflow and flood the usual areas. The East side of New Jersey had it's usual flooding. As of last night they were still seeing runoff, and still at flood stage. All in all - thankful it wasn't snow.
I am still here, Amy. Some days are hard but I seem to bounce back the next day a little. I still manage to get up in the morning and with David's help get from bed to recliner or into wheel chair. David does almost everything now. I suppose I should look for some place to go for assisted living but neither of us wants to do that yet. My brain is still working and I can still make suggestions and give him basic instructions. The truth is if he wasn't willing to help me I wouldn't be in my home any longer so I am deeply grateful for that. At 94 things will just take their natural course.
Thank you for thinking about me.
Good Morning. Yesterday, my son played golf and I only needed a sweater to check birdfeeders. Today is sunny but temperature is 28º and it "feels like" 2º! (Thanks, Patricia, for sharing an Arctic Front with the entire state of Oklahoma! ;))
My hands/wrist/shoulders are working - sorta! - but I can't do some motions. I suspect arthritis and various myalgias have set in and this will be a permanent thing to deal with. :( Analgesic pills and rubs do help but it's muscles and tendons so surgery isn't an option - not that I'd agree to it, anyway.
I have a house cleaner and order groceries delivered. Retired son is coming every Tuesday to take me to hair appointment and do errands. He also takes me to maintenance medical appointments, which is all I've needed.
I can take care of cooking and desk work so am not totally useless! Recently, I put a pork loin in the slow cooker and made a chicken/Stovetop Stuffing casserole. With things already in freezer in meal-size portions, I can now alternate pork, chicken, fish and beef for dinner.
Today's Project du Jour is to divide casserole into individual dishes and for sharing with neighbors who are kind enough to get my mail.
Hope Jenny's surgery went well and the rest of you stay warm and safe.
:hugs:
Good late morning from an Interior at minus nine. Amy, January and February are our coldest months, so it's to be expected. However, next week is forecasted to be in the low pluses.
March is when the longer days start showing effects, with more light, humidity and are normally the largest snow increase.
Callie, you can thank the S.E. part of the state and or western Canada for that chill. The three mountain ranges dividing the Interior and the southeast portion of the state means we have substantially different weather. The southeastern part of the state is part of the wet climate of Oregon and Washington. In fact, Ketchikan, Alaska holds the record for the most rainfall in the U.S.
I'm sorry about your hands/wrist/shoulders causing you pain and trouble. I wish that things were different for you, or they had a practical solution.
I have osteoporosis arthritis and my hands can be painful at times and have no strength. Not only that, but I remember once having the doctor tell me to squeeze his hand and while I was trying my hardest, he repeated his instruction to squeeze!
I, too, am hoping for a good report from Jenny. She could use some and some pain relief.
Phyllis, you'd think that as long as we've been on this earth that, there would be more solutions for seniors and not at such high prices!
In 2013, after being on the list for years, I finally was able to move into this independent living building; for disabled seniors. Unfortunately, in 2016, the private company closed its US properties and sold its Alaskan properties to the state. That and Covid have done a number on the once standard amenities.
Jane, enjoy your time out and about, time spent with Frankie. Perhaps, if you have time, see what's available printer wise.
Our morning meet and greets were buzzing with the news that Alan and Dora's great-grandson, in Milwaukee, named his newborn twins, Alan and Dora. I get weepy eyed just thinking about it now. They would have been thrilled.
Rick, that is a good place to be in all that rain!
Jane, I will...and yes he is . :smitten:
Phyllis, I ws surprised to hear my husband say we would take the wheelchair when he had a hospital visit. One uses whatever helps when they can. We use Tylenol muscle and body/arthritis and so far it works. Plus he is taking other meds along with it. Your David is as special as my David . :smitten:
Callie, we use Voltaren and sometimes Tiger Balm.Seems to work for a bit ,then re-apply.Good neighbour are a blessing!!
Patricia, out west they are in a deep freeze and I don't mind if it doesn't head this way. Guess I am getting soft :( That is so nice to have the twins named after Alan and Dora.
Thanks for the advice. I've dealt with "mild" fibromyalgia and arthritis here and there for years and found that Blue Emu cream works well as a rub. I've begun taking 8HR Arthritis acetaminophen instead of safety coated aspirin.
Mobility issue is structural and I have to wear braces on both ankles. No more "cute" shoes :'( This Aging Process is ANNOYING!!!!!
Onward and Upward....
Found other things to do this morning so need to get myself in the kitchen and take care of that casserole.
I have been busy looking up all of these arthritis products. I use regular Tylenol because I cannot use aspirin, so I'll probably look for the muscle and body Tylenol one. The others had too many cautions and side effects for me to try.
Funny story about aspirin, Once back in the mid-nineties, I was working at Sears and fell ill. Too busy, I thought to go to the doctor, I began using aspirin like candy. That was until my supervisor sent me to the hospital with a choice between that or losing my job.
It turns out that I had strep and had overdosed with aspirin... I never said I was bright. I spent three days having stupid hallucinations while I recovered from strep and detoxed from an aspirin overdosed.
They were drawing blood every few hours and using various machines. It got, so my blood started refusing to be drawn, and I had to go through various arms hanging over the bedside and shaking my hand to keep the blood flowing. Try that several times daily.
In any case, I can no longer use aspirin.
I read and digested everything that was written here and I sympathize with all of you. Getting old is not easy! But it sure does beat the alternative! It's so nice to see all of you posting! Please try to do it as often as you can even if you just say "hello"! I miss you all when you hide away!
Now I'm heading for the haystack because I'm tired right donw to the tips of my toenails! And tomorrow is another day! I did take a quick look at printers at WM but I still think I'm going to talk to the guy where I got my computer. I'm pretty sure he'll come over and hook it up and get me started and I want a better one than I had before!
I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow! Make the day your own in every way! It REALLY IS your day!
Good morning...
Seems we did get a good snack of snow last night and it is still snowing.!! Kyle said there is about 8 inches of snow so I had better gear up for the dance. I also need to can some lean hamburg so we shall see how the day goes.
Callie, I am going to look for the Blu Emu, thank you!
Patricia, at least you now know to stay away from it. Same with Kyle and ibuprofen, that caused him a quick ride in the ambulance!!
Better get go wake my dancing partner up (electic start)after I my put dancing gear on...
Enjoy your day and stay safe..
Six earthquakes in this area last night/early this morning - two were about 4.2!!!! I'm not close to where the epicenters were but felt a "jiggle" for those.
"Feel like" temperature is -6 and there's a sprinkle of snow flakes.
What next?????
Amy, I get the Blue Emu cream at Walgreen's and have found the store brand is just as good.
It is now officially, good afternoon everyone.
I was planning to go gas up my car today, but while I was waiting for my hair to dry, I took a look at the weather. We have a wind advisory for all day today with warnings to watch for downed branches and flying objects. As if to emphasize the point, a short while ago one of the dead trees across the street blew down across the road right where my driveway is. Fortunately it wasn't large enough to block the whole road. I don't know how long it was down, but when I heard a metallic noise just outside, I took a look. Just then a guy drove past, but stopped and pushed or picked up most of the deadwood and dumped it over the barrier. Given the sun was out fully and cast shadows across the road, and drivers do not pay attention to the speed limit, I thought that was rather brave. Anyway, I think I will wait until tomorrow, colder though it may be, to go fill the tank. I don't need to be anywhere until Friday. Well, that is my excuse today for procrastinating.
I've heard of Blue Emu, but haven't tried it. Right now I am very disappointed in the Icy Hot I have. It doesn't seem to be working like I remember. Maybe the tube is just too old?
That was not an enjoyable dance!!! I even had to stop, sit for a bit before I carried on. Got most of it clear but where the ice had built up I couldn't move it. Managed a small clearing ,not the usualy round about that I normally do the the dogs. Maybe tomorrow will be better..
Callie, thank you. We don't have a Walgreen but maybe our WalMart may carry it. Thankfully that is all you felt. A "jiggle" is more than enough and I hope others closer to it faired out ok.
MG, I was to can hamburg....but after my wrestle with the snowblower I cooked and froze it for the dogs. I did manage to keep enough out for a meatloaf for supper tonight :)))
Good mid-morning, minus 19 and chill here in the Interior. Sunday is to warm into the pluses and drop more snow. We have had lots of snow but evidently only 0.02 or 0.04 accumulations per snowfall. January is not living up to its frigid reputation, with every week showing plus temperatures and every weekend and latter part of the week dropping into the low minuses.
After hearing and reading about all the storms, snow and breakdowns, in the wet climate states, I'm so sorry for those in the midst of it all but so happy to be in a dry climate, cold and all.
Nothing new here, chores done, meet and greets finished and Farrah and I, fed and showered. I'm back into finishing up with my computer downloaded from externals and re-organized. I've taken enough breaks and need to get it back in operating order.
It looks like everything with the new server is good to go, so back to the computer redo.
Jane,where are you?
Good morning
High winds last night and again this morning. Not sure what it is like till day break. I know I am going to try and complete the trail out back later today.
Last night I was sitting in my chair and I saw amber lights break the darkness of the night. Our neighbour ,bless his heart had been out plowing 6 am and this was 6 pm, was plowing the parts of our driveway that I could not move!! Now it is pushed back to where it normally is.
After cleaning out back ,the sewing room will be occupied.Just maybe I can get all the blocks sewn together .....maybe.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Jane is having trouble getting into the forum. Any help would be appreciated please. I did send her the url.but not sure if that will work.
It worked, AMY! Thanks! Wonder how I missed it?
Today is COLD!! Cooper and I have had our walk and now he's sleeping. I'm not sure where. He followed me into the bathroom when I did my eyes the last time and I left him sleeping on the bathroom rug. He never stays in one place very long.
I'm getting ready to go to church on line pretty soon but there will be another eye-do before that. I wish you all a good day. Make it your own in every way!
Thanks again, AMY!
:cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: Yay Jane!!Good to see you here!!!
Good Morning Everyone from
the cold, clear Rocky Coast of Maine.
Our Winter here as been pretty mild. We have missed
a lot of storms. We have had some snow, but the rain
has floated it all away.
I have been busy reorganizing my apartment,
and clearing out the clutter.
Also I have started to learn how to do WaterColor
painting. Buying materials. etc. The learning
Curve is difficult so I am following a lot of piople on
YouTube.. And buying lots of materials, of course,
to play with. Now if I can just learn to use them
correctly.
Never too late, right? Even at 80!!
Yikes!
Have a good week
Sandy :smitten:
I was shut out of this forum and could post. Guess who bailed me out. Yes it was Bubble. I'm glad to be back.
Good morning, please refer to yesterday's post, changing minus 19 to plus four and insert light snow with little to no accumulation for today's post.
Jane, I'm so glad to see you back onsite!
Sandy, my younger sister, does watercolors and really enjoys it, as I'm sure you are. Watercolors are seemingly so satisfying from what I've seen of hers.
MG, how are the ships in and around the Great Lake doing? I saw your post about them earlier.
Don, so nice to see you back with us again!
Hello Everyfriend! It's good to see some people who have been strangers! Frankie picked up Cooper a little while ago and I'm thinking about supper but I'm going to wait until two of my eye jobs are done before I think about eating!
It's been very windy here today and lots of stuff has been blowing down. I saw one porch roof up against a house down the street. It wasn't the porch from that house and I'm not sure exactly where it came from. I didn't stay out long because it was very windy and very cold and I sure didn't want to get bonked by anything that might be blowing around!
I hope it calms down overnight and is better tomorrow. I can take the cold days but not when it's windy, too! Finish this one to your best! Do what suits you most!
Jane, you must have really high winds there, we have wind but not as destructive. I was out doing the driveway and backyard and the wind would blow the snow back at you. I am not complaining as I heard Buffalo got about 3 FEET of snow.
We had meatloaf, mashed potatoes and creamed peas for supper last night. Think a meatloaf sandwich is in order with a scare of hot mustard . :))
A bit windy here too. But nothing like Jane mentioned. Buffalo often gets those lovely snow showers. Lake affect snow from Lake Erie.
I have hamburger and I just put it in the freezer. My plan was to make meatloaf out of it but I got sidetracked with the sauerkraut! And today the hamburger went into the freezer. Maybe later this week I'll get it made!
Now I'm ready for the haystack! I'm really tired and I don't know what I did today to make me so tired. You don't suppose it has anything to do with my getting on in age, do you?
I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy day tomorrow. Make it your own in every way!
Another day has come to an end..
Kyle has an appointment in the morning ,would like to see if Babe and jesse could get a pedicure.
Jane, try your cole slaw with the hamburg! I will even sprinkle on a meat sandwich.
Rick, Buffalo seems to always get a good snack of snow. Winds have died down here and it is not snowing. Maybe no dancing in the morning!
Enjoy your evening..nite.
Just want to say hello and let you know I am still among the living.
Surgery was Wednesday and I got home on Thursday afternoon.
Pretty darn uncomfortable but one day at a time🙏🙏
Feel better - Heal quickly
Thanks for the report, Jenny. Glad you are home and able to post.
Hi Don!
A few brave ships started the trek across Lake Huron several hours after I posted. Many of them stayed put for a while longer.
I am about to crash for the night. Catch you all tomorrow.
Jenny, I was so glad to see your post, and I'm hoping all those pains go away quickly!
We haven't had any wind this time, we are having snow, but it's the powder so probably no real accumulation.
MG, I'm going to have to go back and check my cams. I've let several of them slide this past year.
Amy, your dinner sounded good to me. I made a quick potato soup out of corn, carrots, potatoes, milk and some seasoned flour as I forgot to set anything out to thaw.
Good Morning Everyfriend!
I'm having breakfast and waiting for Cooper's arrival!
JENNY, my prayers are with you for a quick recovery and good days ahead!
PATRICIA, your quick dinner sounded good but I don't know what "seasoned flour" is. Does it come seasoned or do you make it that way yourself?
AMY, I'm with you! Cole Slaw goes with just about anything!
Gotta get ready for Cooper's arrival! Make today a good one any way you want it!
Good morning..
Starting out at 5°F and NO new snow!! I now have a quilt delivery to the list of to dos.
Jenny good to see you and like others wish you a speedy recovery.
Patricia, your soup sounds good!
Rick ,did you get any snow your way or was it just wind and rain?
Jane. I have even sprinkled your cole slaw on top of a salad! Yes ,it does go with everything!
Better get going..I am up but I think my attem stayed in bed..
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Quote from: Amy on January 15, 2024, 07:01:29 AMRick ,did you get any snow your way or was it just wind and rain?
Yesterday was fairly nice. Some wind, but no rain or snow. BUT - Snow predicted for tonight and tomorrow morning. I think this time we'll get it. It will stick, and stay, as we are below 32° all week.
Good mid-morning, it's plus nine and snowy in the Interior. We've had snow for several days. But, more of the fluffy blowing type than the stick to it type, only 0.02 accumulation.
That may change today as 3–6 inches is forecast, but, we'll see. Snow is predicted all week again, but otherwise no real accumulation expected. Dry climates like ours usually lack humidity and need it for real snow. Anchorage on the other side of the Alaska Range has lots of snow as it is by the gulf.
Jane, I season the flour when I'm making a base for something or a crust. I have various types of salt and pepper that I grind as I need it, and numerous spices that I use daily. I'm particularly fond of using green pepper with meat and vegetables dishes. Likewise, I also make different types of spiced butter.
But, this time I used ground black pepper and kosher salt plus Weber's Roasted garlic and herb, Tony Chachere's Famous Creole Cuisine, no salt added, Turmeric, and at the last, a tablespoon of Nutritional Yeast, cheese, savory flavor.
I admit to using Weber's and Creole Cuisine on almost every savory dish, like some people do with salt or pepper. It's particularly good on eggs.
PATRICIA, all good ideas and some I've used...some I havent. But I bet I will!
Try some Oregano in your scrambled eggs
Thanks for the tip! I'll try that.
And the snow has started >:(
Another day over and done. Each day I feel a bit stronger.
I will see my long time in home PT tomorrow. I can not wait to see her. She will work on my good shoulder right now, but this therapist will help for my recent neck surgery when given the OK for it.
Thank you for the wonderful encouraging words.
Good Morning Everyfriend! Well, there;s snow out there! I don't know yet how much we got and I'm pretty sure it isn't finished yet. It's supposed to start again around 8 and last until around noon! I think we're in for it. I have a dr. appt. at 3 this afternoon and I'm supposed to get a delivery of my special eye drops this morning. I wonder.....
I guess I better hit the shower and get dressed, just in case! I also have some things that need to be either frozen today or cooked and then frozen. Also maybe some of them eaten if I'm tempted. Better get this day moving and see what happens! I wish you all a good one! Make it your own in every way! And tell us what you're doing or what you did!
Good morning.
No new snow here but a tad chilly with a temp of 14° at the moment.
Will head to town to pick up a few things then home to make apple sauce. May be a good day to cook up some pork and have some applesauce with it!
Rick, thank you, never thought of putting oregano in the scrambled eggs. Have put cheese in it and bacon bits though. Please keep snow there...son got held up this side of the border as Buffalo was shut down.
Jenny, one day at a time will help you get through this. You can do it!!
Jane, hope the snow accumulation holds off till after you get home from your Dr.s appointment.
Better get on with the day.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good morning at 7:19 in the Interior with plus 12. We didn't get the 3–6 snow inches promised, perhaps it fell in the mountains instead? In any case, snow is promised all week, as it was last week.
Today's promising chores are cleaning the cat box and taking out the garbage. I say promising because it was supposed to have been done yesterday. I also need to water my plants. Since they are on top of an eight shelf unit, because of a cat who enjoys fresh greens, it won't be a simple task.
Jenny, I'm glad you have confidence in your pt. Hopefully, you will soon be in better shape with less pain. In my experience, muscle pain is more painful than most, so I can sympathize. Those 18 weeks with my hip and foot showed me how what the doctors told me was simple with no broken bones was anything but.
Jane, we have snow out there too and for me, while aggravating, It's so much better than our earlier wind whipped ice. Of course, these days I'm rarely out in it, so that isn't saying much.
I hope you can make your doctor's appointment and get your eye drops in delivery. I would think that would count as a priority.
I'm tempted too often while making or trying something new. And some foods I've learned not to buy, simply because they don't last once I get them home. I miss the days of bartering among friends who had large gardens and game. Covid, and that terrible snowy winter of 2021, ended that.
Rick, I've put the oregano on the table, waiting for my planned lunch of scrambled eggs and toast.
Amy, pork and applesauce would be great. I put the last of my chicken drumsticks out to thaw for tonight. I won't be buying them again, as once you de-skin and debone, there isn't that much meat.
I was blindsighted yesterday, while checking my mail. A resident accused me of being antisocial. She said she never sees me at events nor sitting in the recreation rooms. She told me I'd be happier if I was more engaged. I was struck dumb and what came out was, "You'd think." And I made my escape. I'm always thinking of better comebacks after an event than beforehand.
Last night I finished my computer set up. It only took me eleven days. Sometimes I wish I had a more seamless way, but AI hasn't gotten to that point yet. My externals have info going back to 1999, but I only use a portion of my files for setup.
Quote from: patricia19 on January 16, 2024, 12:23:45 PMRick, I've put the oregano on the table, waiting for my planned lunch of scrambled eggs and toast.
I've been doing that for years, and call it my "Eggs Italiano". My wife was Italian and loved them that way. Probably a silly thing to say, but the oregano goes in before cooking.
No one here tonight? Probably too cold.
Just stopping by to say "Good Night Everyfriend". This has been a busy day. I ended yesterday with one bottle of eye drops left to start the day on two eyes. Thank goodness, the new supply arrived in spite of the snow!
We had about a foot of snow altogether but it did stop around 1 p.m. and the roads were clear enough to make my ear appt at 3:30. I asked Cathy if she wanted me to call and change it and she said it was OK.
JENNY, I hope your arm is feeling better today.
PATRICIA, I hope you got your plants watered. I hope you were careful when you watered them.
I have to hit the haystack now. Cooper will be coming tomorrow and it's going to be another COLD day! This week is all going to be below freezing...mostly in the teens and singles! I'm ready for SPRING!
I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. Make the day your own in every way!
Good evening, 7:24 in the evening with plus 20, and we had snow, the light fluffy type, the most of all winter, and it's still falling.
I had stopped in to post some new graphics in the Cards folder and might put a couple of photos in. One of them is a fast-growing plant I've had since last year and don't know what it is. The other one is our snow, the most we've had so far this year.
Rick, by whatever name, those eggs were good, and I'll make them again!
Jane, I use my portable step and bring all the plants to my sink. I put them in a rubber tub and add water so they soak it up from the bottom, before draining them. They then go back up on the shelf.
I even got the kitties litter dumped into the garbage and the box washed, refilled and back in place. Then out to the dumpster and washing that can and adding a new bag. I seem to be the only one I know who washes the two, litter box and garbage can weekly. No one else seems to do it, but I've always cleaned them before re-using, like my mom did.
Now to see if I get my file folders reorganized and into the lockbox.
Enjoy your time with Cooper tomorrow, now that you've got the drop delivery and appointment out of the way.
We've had plus temperatures during the week and colder minuses on the weekend. We'll see if that still holds true with the new snow.
Good Morning Everyfriend! It's time for Cooper's arrival so I might be called away and have to finish this later.
PATRICIA, it sounds like you are MOST careful when you do the plants. And it sounds like the plants are lucky to have you around. It also sounds like you take good care of the kitty and that kitty care things are kept clean. You'd be a good neighbor to have around!
I think I'm going to close this so I'm ready when Frankie calls to say she's on the way. Have a good day Everyfriend! Make it your own. Make it your best possible!
Good morning...
Our temps are taking a plunge ,starting with -6°F this morning.
Yesterday took on a different direction with the dogs fillay getting their nails done. The young lady is so patient with them ,Babe is not too bad to do but the pup has other ideas on getting his nails cut. I did give him 1 1/2 pills but not until evening did they start to really work. Needless to say I took advantage of that and managed to get some cut.
Apples are still needing to be done, plus corral the dust kangaroos.
Jane, have fun with cooper today..
Patricia, loved your photos. With that bright light light you could grow lettuce in pots!
Rick, we did get a light dusting of snow, nothing to be concerned about though. Temps are plummeting and it is not fit for man or beast outside. I pity any dog or cat that is left outside.
Better get a move on..
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Our snow has stopped and it is now bright and sunny ----- But cold. 14° when I got up. At this time there's more snow due on Friday.
Nice bright sunny day here and the temp has raced to 13°F.
Good day to look out at the weather .
A friend down the street stopped in his car to talk to us on our afternoon walk and we decided together that our favorite seasons are Spring and Autumn! Summer is too hot and Winter is too cold!
RICK, you and I must be in the same weather zone. We're supposed to have more snow on Friday, too! As far as I'm concerned that can turn into a mistake!
Cooper is going to spend the night with me. Frankie has an appointment after work and she's always worn out anyway so she's going to leave him here overnight. I'll have a cuddler tonight! And company for supper. Got the pork chops and scalloped potatoes ready for supper and I think I'm going to cook some frozen peas to go with it!
I'm heading for the time of my last special eye drops. Then I have the old ones to do and the heat and I'm finished until one at bed time. I feel like that's about all I do these days! But I am seeing better so I guess it's worth it!
Hope you are all having a good day! Keep on keeping on!
Good morning..
Wild and windy last night with a deposit of maybe 2 inches of snow. That will have to wait to be dealt with. We are taking the vehicle back to the dealer to get the heated seat repaired. Passenger gets warm buns but not the driver. :2funny: This is a 2 1/2 hour job and then we are heading back home.
Jane, I agree, love Spring but please no skeeters or blackflies.Did Cooper share the bed or is he like these two, they hog the bed!
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning Everyfriend! It's COLD out there this morning! I didn't look at the temp because if I have to go out there, I don't really want to know HOW cold it is!
AMY, Cooper is a snuggler and if I don't move, I can keep my space with him warming up one side of me! Last night, he did three areas. He moved from around my knees to my hip area and then up to my shoulders! I thanked him for warming me up all over.
It's not supposed to get really sunny today so I guess the snow won't be melting and, as Rick said, there's supposed to be more on Friday! I won't mind if the powers that be change their minds and dump it in the ocean!
Guess I better get started on SOMETHING around here. It'll be time for my next eyedrops soon and they ARE an interruption!
I wish you all a good day. Make it your own in every way! And enjoy it!
HAPPY FIVE HOURS! MORE ON THE WAY!!!
?
Good morning...
A new look in here.. Will take a moment to get used to but we will. Thank you Michael.
Yesterday went better than planned, vehicle was done in 1 1/2 hr not the 2 1/2 hr that was predicted. We scurried on home to have lunch. Making contact witha quilt recipient I set off to deliverone to her. Now today I do have a dance with Mr SB, just hope the snow is not the wet heavy stuff! Out of soup so a pot of beef barley will be made later.
Jane, are you snowed in? Talked with David yesterday, he was just coming through Erie PA and said it was snowing there.Does Happy 5 hours mean you have had five hours of snow???
Patricia, how is the weather your way?
Jenny, hope you are healing and hope very little pain along with it.
Better go get my dancing duds on....
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
:snowman: Woke up to snow. We are to get 2-4 inches. Temp is 25oFat the moment.
I found an apartment, but the lease date is Feb 1, a bit too soon for me to finish packing and such. Not much packed yet. So, I am terrorizing myself :yikes: at the moment. Going over Monday to sign the papers, if I don't chicken out.
Good Morning! AMY, the "happy 5 hours" meant no one was in here for at least 5 hours between my own posts!
Cooper has arrived and we've had one walk in the snow! It started sometime during the night and is still coming down. The snow plows have been around and the roads are OK but my driveway won't get done until my neighbor, Steve, decides the snow has stopped.
Our trash pickup is already a day late because of the snow earlier in the week. I'm wondering if they will make it tomorrow as they said on the phone. I guess I'll see!
Dinner last night was excellent. I've found a different way on line to cook frozen peas and they were better than usual. I'm keeping this one!
Better go get something done before it's time for the next eye drops! Have a good day Everyfriend! Make it your own in every way! And stop by for a chat!
Just finished the dance, nice one this time ,got a lot done that couldn't be done before.
Jane, thank you for explaining that..
Snowing here, but streets well salted and clear at this time.
In my world, and since you asked;
...Prolonged Arctic Blast Late Weekend Into Early Next Week...
A mid-winter arctic front is coming this weekend with seasonably cold temperatures lasting well into next week. While not particularly unusual, this will be one of the longer and more widespread cold snaps for the Interior this winter, as valley locations will fall to -30 F to -45 F (some cold spots will reach into the -50 F range) for overnight lows, with high temps struggling to warm much beyond -20 F early next week. This cold snap will last until at least Wednesday, with some slight moderation possible, but it may just drop right back into the deep freeze late next week again.
In addition, higher terrain hills and Interior Mountains will see bitterly cold wind chills to -40 F or colder late Saturday into Sunday as the arctic front shifts south.
Residents should prepare as needed for an old-fashioned Interior Alaska cold snap and have necessary cold weather gear available.
Alaska is known for both earthquakes and avalanches, often unexpected and disastrous. However, the majority of these, if not all, occur in the southeast because the land is narrow, squashed between the mountains and the gulf and sitting on a shifting bed of gravel. I can count, on one hand, the few minor earthquakes in the Interior.
Today, at 12:34, suddenly the earth didn't shake but rolled over and over several times and at 12:59, there are still mild after shocks. In my lifetime here, I have never felt an earthquake like that in the Interior. I'm off to see what information I can find.
5.3, 13km depth in Salcha, 32.6 miles from Fairbanks.
Well, it's time to say....Good Night Everyfriend! The day is over and it was a "so far, so good" one for this area. It was cold but not windy so it didn't freeze right through one's body as soon as you stepped out the door!
Steve, my friendly neighbor, came across with his snow blower and did my driveway then it snowed a bit more and after Frankie picked up Cooper, I got up my energy and did a bit of shoveling! It wasn't so bad! I got the driveway cleared and the sidewalk around to the front of the house and then did the back porch under the roof where it blew in and a bit of the sidewalk to the shed where the oil tank and some other things make their homes.
Got all the eye shots done and I'm ready for the haystack. I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. Make it your own day in every way! And share it with us if you have a minute!
Good morning..
Starting at -5°F this morning but when day light comes we will see sun!
Going over to a freidns to pick up tools that Kyle had lent them , then home to do laundry. Past couple of weeks rain has trevented me from hanging it outside but hopefully today it will go on the solar dryer.
Jane , Kyle calls those lazy winds, rather go through you than around you!!
Patricia, you may keep the -30 -45.
Better get the day rolling..
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning, AMY and anyone else who comes by! At least I don't have to talk to myself this morning! I'm up, had breakfast, did 3 things to my eyes already and I'm ready to start the day.
I don't have Cooper this weekend but Frankie said she might stop by later!
Cathy is coming by to pick up my recycling and take it to the center this morning. They are open from 8a.m. to noon so I'll see her sometime this morning. She usually texts when she's on the way! Maybe I'll ride along with her. I need coffee and we go right past the place on the way to recycling!
AMY, I certainly understand how KYLE picked out the name for those "lazy winds". I'll remember that one!
Guess I better get the bed made and get myself dressed so I'm ready when Cathy calls or Frankie arrives! Take this day and make it yours in every way! And come by and say "HI" to the rest of us!
I think I am going to invest in a pair of roller skates , just to keep up with the day! Seems my good intensions to do a list of things never quite get done.
Temp managed to get up to 8°F but the sun never made an apperance so no laundry on the solar dryer. Another time perhaps.
My friend has been fighting a cold and it now has a strong hold on her, she finally agreed to go to the Dr. I sure did a happy dance when she said that.
Rick, did you get snow? We got a few flurries but nothign to worry about.
Phyllis, I think your baked custard in the IP will be done tomorrow. Nice easy dessert and easy on the stomach.
Might go sew for a bit...
Quote from: Amy on January 20, 2024, 03:39:15 PMRick, did you get snow? We got a few flurries but nothing to worry about.
We got some very fine snow. Did not accumulate much. It has been very cold, for here, getting up to 20 today.

Do you like the "New Format", or would you rather have (go back to) the OLD FORMAT?
Well, I'm trying a new color tonight! If you can't read it, I'll change it tomorrow. Today was a busy one. Cathy and I made a trip to my recycling and it was closed so since we were in her car we made a trip to the one in town and it was open!
Then we stopped at the store for a few items and she dropped me off. But she must not have gone home because she came back later with an item that I use regularly. It was on sale so she bought two and dropped them off for me!
Now i'm off to the haystack. I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a good day tomorrow. Make it your own in every way! And share it with us!
OOH!! I don't like that color!!
Quote from: JaneS on January 20, 2024, 09:14:46 PMOOH!! I don't like that color!!
How about the new format?
Rammel, I prefer the old one!
Rick - Callie...so do i, or rather, so did i..
All the options are available, only not in the same places. It will take a while to become comfortable with the new look and new method of doing things, but eventually, it will become second nature.
Good morning...
A nippy day out but no new snow to deal with.
A day of rest here, just have to make Phyllis baked custard and then heading to the basement to sew! A friend phoned and wants more mustard but that can be made on Monday.
Granted the new format is different but as Patricia said everything is there..just like before. We just need to get used to it, just like before.
Jane, that was so nice of Cathy to pick that up for you! Did you solve your printer problem?
Enjoy your day and stay safe..
Good Morning! Today I'm trying green. It's my hometown hight school color and maybe it'll be good for me!
AMY, Cathy also got my printer working again! It took her seconds and made me feel ancient!
I'm all dressed and ready for church and I need to do one more eye drop right before I go so I'll be home in time for the next one. I'll sure be glad when these drops are finished and I can get back to my old schedule...or maybe make up a new one! No Cooper today! I miss him when he doesn't come over!
Have a good day Everyfriend! And share it with us! We miss you when you don't stop by!
Jane, glad to hear you are up and running on your printer!!! I like your new colour! Easy on the eyes it is.
There is a saying that your never too old to learn and thanks to Rick and Michael they help us learn new things in here. So ,thank you both!

Where does it show Users on line?
Jane, do you know what Cathy did to get your Printer working? Could you find out. (Building knowledge)
Rick, scroll down to recent posts and on the left hand side you will see two people, click on that icon..
Thanks Amy, I found it at the bottom of the Forum page.

There's nobody there. Let me look around a bit.
I found it where MarsGal said ----- Thanks.
I was going to say the same. With the four-hour time difference, I usually arrive at the tail end of most discussions anyway, but since it had previously been at the bottom of Forums, that's where I went when I saw his question on alerts.
We're in the deep freeze with minus forty to minus forty-five for lows, and we'll stay there until the first week of February.
I hope everyone is having a warm, safe, nice, day.
Well PATRICIA, not a WARM day but so far safe, nice. I'll take it. Of course, compared to your temps, I guess you could say it was warm around here but so far this past couple of weeks it's been a very cold winter for this area.
I'm off to the haystack. Cooper will be arriving tomorrow pretty early and I have to be ready. Sleep well and wake happy! I wish you a good day tomorrow!
Good morning..
Starting off at 13° and they say high winds today. Jane, I bet the winds are going to be lazy winds.
Making mustard today along with getting some laundry done. Usual household chores to be taken care of.
Patricia, brrrr that is cold!! Hope you can stay in where it is warm.
MG ,you're welcome.
Rick, see, we all can learn something new.
Better start the day...
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning! I'm ready and waiting for Cooper's arrival today!
AMY, I hope that wind isn't "lazy"! Our temp at this point is only 1 degree higher than yours. We;re registering 14 right now but we're expecting a high of 34. That gets us out of the freezing zone for a couple of hours. I'll take it!
Not a lot planned for today. Maybe something in the Crock Pot....maybe not! A couple of walks with Cooper and I'll have to love him up a bit. I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
Good morning, It's minus 39 with an expected high of minus 28. It's forecasted to be even colder as this spell of frigid weather continues. We'll see warming trends the first week of February.
I'll be spending my time indoors with the usual chores, Kindle and computer. Our meet and greets report the same. The city and schools don't stop, the schools will stay open as long as heavy ice fog doesn't form. It is extremely difficult to see pedestrians, especially small ones, during heavy ice fog.
"A type of fog, composed of suspended particles of ice, car exhaust, pollution, partly ice crystals 20 to 100 μm in diameter, but chiefly, especially when dense, droxtals 12-20 μm in diameter. It occurs at very low temperatures, and usually in clear, calm weather in high latitudes."
Anchorage, Alaska on the other side of the Alaska Range is presently showing zero to our thirty-five! :tickedoff: :-\
We are now at 22° with blowing snow... :tickedoff:
Just a quickie...AMY, our temp made it out of the freezing zone for about 2 hours today! I hope that's an omen! Dinner's in the ove and I'm going to make a trip to the mailbox. The mailman ran late today and hadn't been there yet when Cooper and I took our walk! Enjoy the rest of your day Everyfriend!
I miss the coffee pot, and the "Unread posts" at the bottom. Too much squirreling around now.
I miss that coffee pot too, Rammel! Guess we'll just have to stick with the "real thing".
You can sure tell several of our regulars are having a hard time with this "new" thing, by the number of regulars we don't see a post from!!
Switch us back.
Has anyone seen Lloyd?
Rick...
i am with you, who needs all theses fancy extras., and that are now cropping up in different places....i like basic as it once was way back when we first started...or even last week...
I very much expect Lloyd to find his way around this new layout, he got lost before...it is not the same now without his daily posts...yes, Lloyd hasn't shown in three weeks...is it time to be concerned...
Hope our Jenny ( Denver ) doesn't also have a hard time when she next shows to post...
Rick - Tomereader...
I say, bring back our coffeepot...that was a pleasant welcoming sign when entering our forum...
Good morning.
Snow did not amount to much..by the sounds of it those to the south have a lot snow.
We are off to the city , a quick trip in and back before the next snow or rain fall. With the threat of rain coming I cleaned off the snow on the sunroom roof yesterday. I would imagine a lot of cottagers are worried about their roofs.
The snowmobilers are having fun now that there is more than enough snow to run on and the cross country ski trails are now open.
Enjoy your day and stay safe..
Good Morning! I'm here but not for long! The roads are supposed to be bad this morning and Frankie said she's going to try to get an earlier start this morning. So Cooper might be along soon!
All your complaints sound like the ones I use to my kids about my cell phone. I tell my daughter that if the river was closer, it would be going for a swim daily because when it doesn't do as I tell it, I'd give it a toss. However, I really think it's the times! I remember my grandmother saying some of the things about our house phones that I say about my cell phone! You don't think we're all getting old, now do you?
I better go turn on my outside lights and get ready for Cooper. Enjoy your day! Make it your own in every way!
Good Morning EVERYFRIEND.
It takes me awhile to get through reading the posts but I sure enjoy reading them. My neck brace is very limiting as far as having my laptop in front of me and being able to type, so forgive me for not getting in here more often. It will improve for sure.
Overall I am doing very well. My PT is very pleased with my hurt shoulder....she says moving it around tells her it is definitely going to be able to have it back in working order again and the torn rotator cuff WILL heal in time. She has been also working on my bad shoulder and says she thinks this spine surgery may prove to give me a bit more movement in time. She wants me to do as much as I possibly can to use my left arm to try to teach it to do more things. I am doing my best but I am a righty all the way🤣🤣🤣.
Unfortunately, my surgeon does not want anything done for two months on my neck / spine so she is limited at what she can do with the overall exercises.
My postop appointment went great. My surgeon showed us exactly what he had done and he was very proud of his work. He was shocked at how much worse the area was and wondered how I was able to get by as long as I did. We have already noticed a big change in how I walk.
I do not like taking the drugs, so used them only for a couple of days and have been getting most of my pain relief from icing and heating the area.
Thank you all for your continued support and caring words.
Jenny
Oh, JENNY, that all sounds so good! I'm so happy that you are getting better. It'll take time but it'll be worth it! I guess the prayers are working!
To the city and back before the roads got nasty!!! Just have a few things to put away and "run a chicken" over to the neighbours and then I can continue on with the day. Seems to me I have laundry to fold and put away but first things first , my cuppa tea. :)
Jane, well said!!! I am still not a fan of my cell phone and use it mainly for emergencies or to meet family in town. Since Michael is footing the bill for this I am thankful for all he does in keeping us together. :smitten:
No word from email to Lloyd ..
Jenny, so good to see you!! Time is a great healer, just take it easy.Great to see that all is heading in the right direction .
And speaking of the "right direction", I'm heading for the haystack soon. I got up too early and I didn't squeeze in a nap today. My eyes don't want to look at anything or see anything1 So I'm going to give them the night off!
Tomorrow, I have to arrange all my eye drops and heating of yes around lunch out with my former co-workers from Pennsylvania House Furniture office. We try to do this once a month and I wasn't able to do the last two so I'm really looking forward to this one. I think I have it figured out including having Cooper here. Not gonna be easy but it will be nice to see them all again!
I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. Make the day your own in every way! And come by and share it with us.
AMY, I made a batch of your mustard and canned it today. Now I'm ready for sandwiches, etc. again! Havent tasted it yet. I'll let you know when I do!
Good morning...
Seems there will be dancing this morning..not sure how much new snow fell but will find out shortly.Possibility of rain later today so it needs to be removed before it becomes a slushie and plugs Mr SB!
Jane, have fun with your friends, always nice to catch up on what is happeneding with them. Will be waiting to hear how your mustard turned out.
Better get ready for the dance..
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning Everyfriend! We have a whole day out of the freezing zone today! The temps are a low of 33 and a high of 44! Yay!!!!
I'm just waiting for some daylight to go for a walk with Cooper and then I'll be doing what I must to get ready for my lunch out with friends.
AMY, the mustard is all finished and in jars (I have 7 half-pints). Only one didn't seal so that one went in the fridge beside the almost-empty one. I'll be tasting it later today! I'll let you know how I did.
It's almost light enough for a walk so I better get ready! I wish you all a great day! Make it your own in every way! And tell us how you did that!
Knock, knock. ----- Anyone home
Well, I wonder where everyfriend was today! There were 12 hours from my morning post until Rick came in looking for people. And now here I am again.
A big HELLOto you, RICK. And hello to anyone else who decides to peek in! I've had a busy day and I'm going to do a few things here and then head for the haystack. I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a great day tomorrow. Make it your own in every way and PLEASE...share it with us!
Jane, --- I thought I heard that out the back window.
Good morning...
Well, the rain came making everything slick! When it gets day break we will sand the walkin areas and out back for the dogs. Managed to get our snow clean up and out of the way yesterday.
Working around home catching up on things that got left behind others days.
Jane, neighbour and I had the same thoughts and we bought vegetable seeds...are we wishing winter away???
Patricia,we are to get more rain on Fri making everything one giant skating rink. How is your weather, did you get much snow?
Better get the day started.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Ok Miss Jane, I know you were out and about with your friends yesterday. Are you still snuggled in bed???
We went to the township depot and picked up 3 partial pails of sand, with the threat of more freezing rain we are going ot need it. Vacuumed sealed a bbq chicken for the freezer, took a raw chicken breast sliced ,pounded it ready to put stuffing in and roll up. Not sure if I am going to wrap it in bacon or just as it is with a bit of mayo so it doesn't dry out when cooking. Laundry in dryer and lots of work yet to do but.......maybe it won't get done today.
Good Morning Everyfriend! I was up before the crack of dawn and Cooper arrived before the crack of dawn. I fed him, worked on my eyes and put some stuff away and then made the bed/ By that time, it was light enough for our first walk of the day. We managed to be at the school bus stop before the bus got there and Cooper got lots of pets from the kids who know he doesn't bite but loves petting!
When we got home, it was time for eyes again and then I got to reading the paper for today and doing the crossword puzzle! I have some soup thawing and heating for my lunch and it's starting to smell so good, I might have to eat lunch early! No outside activities today so maybe so inside cleaning....or maybe not!
I have some very good mustard made over AMY'S recipe. I made a slight change that she knows about because I was missing one ingredient. I might have to miss that ingredient the next time, too! The change of ingredients was good! It's not a lot different but I can tell because I did it that way.
I wish you all a good day! Make it your own in every way! And come share it with us!
Jane, I am happy to read that it did turn out ok for you!! I will try that the next time we need mustard.
Good morning, very dry and cold out there at minus thirty-seven and haze. Amy, no snow with no humidity and probably not for a while with a slow warm-up beginning on the first.
I've kept busy with chores, our meet and greets and the computer and my Kindle. I have vertical blinds over my balcony doors, and it's cold still by them. Not only that, but I'm happy that this isn't a wet climate, the cold would be ten times worse on these old bones.
Back in the early nineties, I worked at Walmart in their fabric department and lived three miles away. Often my work schedule didn't coincide with the bus schedule. So, I walked and enjoyed seeing all the animals in the summer along the way. In the winter, I worked through the frigid times by bundling up in warm clothing, three pairs of socks, a hat, a wool scarf, and a pair of gloves under a pair of mittens. I finished with an insulated snowmobile suit.
I remember once, the store manager watched me taking that all off and remarked that he had no idea who or what was going to appear under all of that. The coldest I walked was minus 71. Nowadays, I'd never be able to do the three-mile trip, let alone in frigid temperatures.
I'm heading for the haystack as soon as I finish here. I don't have any Cooper tomorrow except maybe as company in the afternoon. Part of Frankie's Christmas present to me was to do all the floors in my house once a month and she's coming sometime tomorrow to do that. Cooper and I will probably get out of her way part of the time and take a walk. I also traded the floors in the Spring for the windows. She's going to do them as soon as the weather is nice. I'm thinking maybe while I make a visit to Oklahoma in March. Courtney is going to drive down to trade cars with her mother and I'm going along to spend some time with daughter, Cindy and my 3 GreatGrands! And since Courtney's car will be lucky to make it to OK one way, I'm going to fly home. Christy will be coming down for a visit and will fly home with me!
Now I'm heading for the haystack. I have to be up and arrange my eye drop schedule to include a visit with the eye dr. at 12:30. I'll be glad when the drops are finished. Good night. Sweet Dreams! Happy tomorrow!
Good night anyone
Amy, what number is the post where you put the recipe for Mustard. I've never made any, really didn't think of anyone making their own. And Jane, what was your addition to the recipe?
Good morning..
We are to get more rain and the temp is at 30°F at the moment. Need to pick up a few things in town then home to ???? Might play hookey and go sew.
Patricia, by the time you took all your winter wear off you had a half days work done!!
Jane, I like that set up with you and Frankie....win win situation.
Tome..Larry put it in misc file. This a hot mustard and really good in egg salad or potato salad. I will even make a honey mustard sauce with it for chicken fingers.just a spoonful of honey, mayo and mustard to taste.. I am not a fan of hot /spicey but I do like this. Use the pure mustard powder.

It is post #55
Rick, did you get snow or are you getting rain your way?
Callie and Jenny hope you both are keeping well.
Better get on with the day..
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning Everyfriend! This is going to be a quickie because I have a lot to do today!
TOMEREADER, the mustard is great and if AMY doesn't have it posted here, I'm betting she'll post it for you or send it directly. The change I made was the beef broth. I went to the shelf where I have all broth stored and I was sure I had beef broth. Turned out it was all chicken broth! AMY suggested I go ahead and try that. I did and it was good. I guess in the future, I'll use either one that I have. The mustard is HOT mustard....my favorite but not everyone's favorite!
I'm off to the showers now and getting dressed because I'm going to call the hair salon at WM and see if I can get a haircut today. My hair's all "anyhow"!
I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow! Share it with us...PLEASE!
Yep! I knew she'd direct you there!
Quote from: Amy on January 26, 2024, 07:27:18 AMRick, did you get snow or are you getting rain your way?
Just rain. Rain, rain, and more rain.
Good morning from the Interior where it's forty below outside and another day I'm spending inside! No snow, no rain and no change until a gradual warm up beginning the second. The more light we gain, the less cold we have, so light is important.
Amy, back then I used to have more stamina and grit; spending a lot of my days outside other than work. When I wasn't walking to and from my jobs, I was wandering around the public areas of Creamer's wildlife preserve with my camera.
I even rode my bike with a group from Fairbanks to Ester, in the ridges, eight miles uphill, spending the night and riding back the next day. Also, remember the difference between a dry climate and a wet climate is, besides other factors, the relative amount of humidity. Dry climates feel warmer than wet; feel being the operative word.
Rick, the rain has finally topped here..everything is slick! I am glad we picked up extra sand yesterday.
Patricia, we were having coffee with a friend yesterday and mentioned only half buckets we filled. He said that is what he has to get now and he is way younger than I am...that made me feel good!!! When we had all this stamina we didn't realize just how lucky we were.
Moving day Feb. 6.
Just had a late lunch, after packing or throwing out stuff. Started putting stuff in the car to haul to Community Aid for their store. The cats are getting mighty suspicious.
Now I am ready for a nap. Still need to do a load of laundry this evening.
Amy, I agree!
...DENSE FOG ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON AKST TODAY...
* WHAT...Visibility one quarter mile or less at times in dense ice fog.
* WHERE...Fairbanks Metro Area and Eielson AFB and Salcha.
* WHEN...Until noon AKST today.
* IMPACTS...Hazardous driving conditions due to areas of low visibility in ice fog. Visibility could change rapidly making other vehicles difficult to see. Drivers should give themselves extra time for travel and reduce speeds.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Areas of dense ice fog will continue this morning. Fog will thin about noon today.
Callie and Jenny hope you both are keeping well.
Amy, thanks for mentioning me. I feel well but do not feel good! Hands/wrists are almost to normal but shoulders are both bothering me - not to the point that I need medical attention like Jenny - but enough that I have trouble making an effort to do quite a few things.
Weather has been yucky (rain/snow/wind/dense fog/near freezing or just above) for the past week and I'm way beyond "cranky". When I have something different and interesting to post....I will.
Hugs to Everyfriend.
CALLIE, I just peeked in to see if anyone had stopped by and there you were! I think of you every day and you are constantly in my prayers! I'm so glad to hear that your hands are feeling better...now we need to concentrate on the shoulders!
I might be going to Cindy's in March. It's not definite yet but I'd love a short visit with you while I'm there. Wonder if we could work that out? Let's think about as the time passes!
The buzzer just went off for my supper! Later Everyfriend!
Quote from: Amy on January 26, 2024, 01:45:59 PMRick, the rain has finally topped here..everything is slick! I am glad we picked up extra sand yesterday.
The rain eased up here. Stopped for most of the day. That was good because I had a couple of doctor appointments. The weather report says it will start again tomorrow. TG it was not all snow. I haven't used sand on slippery spots here. Everyone seems to use salt, or that other salt like stuff. I have been using cat litter or "Oil Dry" on the ramp. The sun usually takes care of the walk.
Now that Winter is in full swing we can all whine and cry about it and wish for Spring. Spring will come --- won't it?
Another day has bit the dust. Some planned work got done, others got put on the back burner for another day..
MG, you're going to have to make time to snuggle up your cats. I used to mark on the boxes which room they went into so they could be put in that room and one does not have to lift them again. You are doing a great job in the short time you have.
Callie, a scammer found out just how cranky I was today....told him to get off the manure pile and get an honest job!! Hope you feel better soon.
Jane, we could probably use vegetable broth also in the mustard???
Rick, I too am glad that all that rain wasn't snow! One of our ramps is inside leading to the garage but the other one is out to the ellemts and we like to keep it clean too. That is a great idea to use Oil Dry!! Will pass that along, thank you.
I think Janie sent her slam shuts this way and my eyes want to do just that..
Enjoy your evening...
Yes, Rick Spring will come, not just as fast as one would like.
If you use "Oil Dry" keep it in a cold area - so that when you put it down it doesn't just melt itself down into the ice. I find it doesn't take much, and it doesn't harm any grass or wood around (Like salt might). It also doesn't seem to track in as much.
I'm on my way to the haystack and I'm wondering if I'm going the right way. I'm so tired I can't find my way around! We did a lot of moving around today and I was tired at 5 o'clock. This time it wasn't my eyes slamming shut this time. This one is my body saying "Nothing doing"!
Sleep well and wake refreshed! And come back for a visit tomorrow!
Quote from: JaneS on January 26, 2024, 09:39:45 PMAnd come back for a visit tomorrow!
That I will
Good night all.
Good morning..
We had a light dusting of snow overnight, just enough to cover up and stick to the ice but not enough for a dance  .
Laundry day and a few other jobs that need taking care of.Just maybe some sewing thrown in for good measure .
Rick, next time we go to CTC I will look for that ,I think it would be safe for the dogs paws too.
Better get the day rolling..
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning Everyfriend! I've had breakfast, made the bed and straightened up the bedroom, met Cooper, fed him and took him for his morning walk. I'm well into the eye thing this morning and planning on making up a batch of doggie cookies. Frankie is cleaning out her cupboards and she came up with a baking tin that looks like 24 tiny little cupcake tins so when I make the doggie cookies, I'm going to try it out and see how it works. I'm betting it will save me some time!
Now on to the rest of the day. RICK, I'm going to look up that oil stuff, too. It sounds better than salt and less destructive! Thanks for the info!
I'm off to see what else I can get into for the rest of the day starting with the dog cookies and my new pan! I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow! Come join us to chat!
Another day flying by!!! We did get more snow, not a lot but it really wasn't needed....or wanted.
How is your day going?
The dog cookies turned out great and I love the pan that Frankie gave me when she cleaned out her cupboards. I think Cooper could smell them when they came out of the oven. He came in the kitchen and found a place to sit and wait for them to cool. He's already eaten 5 of them!
Frankie came over and got her old car started after work. She had a young man with her and he did mosst of the work and it turns out he also put in a new motor and he will be back to pick it up as soon as he can work out a ride to drop him off. Seems he heard about it from a mutual friend and decided it was right for him. So she sold it just in time to get the money to pay for surgery that Cooper is having on Feb. 7th. Sometimes things just happen at the right time!
I'm off to the haystack. I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a good day tomorrow. Come back and visit with us! We miss you when we don't "see" you!
Peek-a-boo,----I see you.
Whatever ------ Good night everyone.
Good Morning to Everyfriend...especially RICK! Thanks for stopping by!
I'm up and ready to meet Cooper when he gets here a bit before 7. He always arrives hungry and ready for a morning walk. It's something Frankie leaves for me to do. And I really don't mind but sometimes I wonder how he waits so long!
Lot's on the agenda today. I'm going to church in my office. Watching the service on line today! They are having the annual meeting after the service and it's not something I need to be there for and I do need to be here for my eye drops! Works out better to watch it!
Enjoy your day Everyfriend! I don't know when I'll be back!
Good morning..
A day of rest here. Just need to get the vegetables ready to go along with the ribs for supper and then I can sew. Anxious to get this quilt wrapped up and move on to another.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good morning, minus 48 with ice fog and the "forecast" for today was supposed to be minus 22 with a low of minus 25 and considerable clouds. The longer it remains cold, the harder and longer it is to warm up. These are the cold spells we were used to in the fifties and sixties. We will not see pluses again until at least February fourth.
Sorry, if I'm boring everyone with all this cold weather talk, but nothing else notable is going on here.
Patricia, no , your not boring us. I think I would take your chilly temp at the moment and then just maybe it would stop snowing!!
First of all: The Sun is shining!!!! :cheer: :nanadance:  First time in 16 days - according to the weather gurus! And....it's supposed to last until the end of the week! The yard will probably be too soggy to handle my walker but I intend to get out on the patio when temperature is at its warmest!Quote from: JaneS on January 26, 2024, 05:41:09 PMCALLIE, I might be going to Cindy's in March. It's not definite yet but I'd love a short visit with you while I'm there. Wonder if we could work that out? Let's think about as the time passes!
That would be great and I'll look forward to your plans as they develop.
I went to church via tv, as usual, and have read the paper. (I read the e-version on weekdays but have delivery on Sundays because of the puzzles). Am caught up on Domestic Duties. I'll check out the puzzles and then watch Rick Steves' Europe on PBS.
I don't regularly watch America's Got Talent but Oklahoma gal, who won the competition several years ago, is competing again as a professional. So I'll tune in.
Hope Everyfriend is Enjoying the Day.
Callie, is that Darcy Lynn? I watched her when she first went on,she is one remarkable young lady!
Yes, it is! She was 12 when she won AGT and is now 19 and a professional songwriter and actress, as well as puppeteer and singer. She still has her puppet, Petunia, but article in recent paper said Petunia now sits in her own chair rather than on Darcey Lynne's knee. She's from a small town not far from here.
This is the sweetheart that Callie and I have been talking about. Hope it is ok to post the url here..
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pA_CihnFmaA
Hello Everyfriend! It's been "one of THOSE days" around here today! It rained all day and both my walks with Cooper were in the rain. Thankfully, he looks for one of his favorite spots, does what he must, waits for me to clean up then heads for home as fast as he can go!
I don't have a car in my driveway any more! Frankie sold her old one and the guy picked it up today! Once I looked out the window and it was there. The next time I looked it was gone! They were out there dealing with it yesterday and after he left, she cleaned out the trunk and then took off for home.
CALLIE, I'll be thinking about you and a visit. I think granddaughter Courtney said she's going down the second week in March and if I go with her, I stay a while and Christy will come for a visit and we'll go home together. I let you know when things are decided!
Now I'm headed for the haystack. I made a breakfast casserole and I'm waiting for it to cool a bit so I can put it in the fridge. It's an Amish recipe and I might have to taste it before I go to bed. It looks inviting!
PATRICIA, I'm not a bit bored with your weather in Alaska! That's the only state I haven't managed to visit and anything about it is interesting to me! If I could visit, I don't think I'd want to visit in the winter, though! Reading about the winter weather is enough of a visit for me!
AMY, I love hearing about your quilts! It's one of the things I never learned from my Gramma! She made a ton of them in her lifetime. And I'm pretty sure that's not an exaggeration! That's all we had on our beds when I was growing up and she made them all her life. My sister and I had a winter playhouse in the living room...under the quilting frame...every winter!
Gotta go check if the casserole has cooled off enough to refrigerate. Then do a couple odds and ends and go to bed. I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a good day tomorrow. Come by and share it with us!
GOOD MORNING EVERYFRIEND!
Oh Dear! I hope I didn't wake anyone!
Good morning..
No, not me Jane, I have the cooler and the wheelchair packed and ready to go for my friends appointment in the city today, dogs out and dogs feed. I was a bit worried when I saw snow falling last night but it didn't amount to much so our trip is good to go. Just need to get a pumpkin pie boxed up ready for my friends to take back home with them.
Callie, Darcy is in the finals!!! The judges are used to seeing her with Petunia and now Darcy is sort of "flying on her own" a bit Simon thinks she should still be connected. There are so many talented people on AGT andit is going to be difficult to chose.......me, I choose Darcy!!
Better make sure all is gathered.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Another wet one here today. Have April Showers come early? Absolutely nothing planned for the day, except keep an eye on my computer. When I turned it on it did a restart, and now M$ whants me to "Set up my computer". I told it to come back in three days.
Time to think about the haystack! I have the dishwasher running and as soon as it hits the "dry" cycle, I hit the haystack!
Got a bunch of stuff done around the house today...eyes, laundry, cooking, baking, walking Cooper (or him walking me), putting stuff away, moving stuff to a better place, reading the paper and doing the crossword puzzle, and some other stuff I forgot!
AMY, hope your trip was successful
RICK, stay dry!
I wish everyfriend a peaceful night's sleep and a good day tomorrow. Come by and let us know what you're up to!
ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Lloyd Hammond, where are you, in hospital or on your travels... :( ???
been a month now since you last peeked in..
Jane you shout louder than me, maybe Lloyd will hear you....
Good morning...
These trips to the city tucker me out!! My friend did get good news, lst time we were there they said the battery was good for 1 1/2 years and this is what they said this time!! They are keeping a closer watch on it and she goes back in 3 months. In the mean time she will deal wih maybe heart surgery on her one(she has two) leaky valves. This is reminding me so much of Shirley! We did get a bit of grocery shopping done but no fabrcic shopping..
Today a fellow is to come and look and hopefully buy the van.First going into town to get more wood for the stand that Kyle is making. As for what I will do.....not much if my attem doesn't show up.
Rick , our weather yesterday was beautiful!! You could feel the heat of the sun through the vehicke windows. I even ended up taking my coat off as it was just too much.
Better shake a leg and get moving..
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning Everyfriend! No Cooper today! Frankie has the day off. Cathy and I MIGHT be going to the Amish store today or maybe Thursday! She wasn't sure when she mentioned it! I guess I'll wait and see.
I've been wondering about LLOYD also. I think I have a telephone number. Maybe I'll try it later in the day. As JACKIE said, I can yell pretty loud!
Right now, I have to get dressed and get some stuff done around here! Have a good day Everyfriend!

I didn't like the combination of her vocals and Petunia. Not sure I'd vote for her - based on her performance in the semi-finals. We'll see how she does in the Finals.
Enjoy your day, Everyfriend.
Well the day didn't go as planned but that is ok. My attem didn't catch up either so maybe tomorrow???
Callie, I agree. We were used to seeing her with her puppets and this is a different version of her. Maybe she will go back to the way it was before.Do you remember Sheri Lewis and Lamb Chop ?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxoYKt65vSQ
I do remember Sheri Lewis and Lamb Chop. I wonder if Darci and her parents even know who Sheri was. I'll bet her grandparents do. :)
Well, my day didn't go as planned either. I got my walk in earlier this morning and that went as planned and from there on nothing did. I was going to do a couple loads of wash including changing the bed. None of that got done. In fact, I'm not exactly sure what did get done. I was busy all day but I don't see anything done! Maybe tomorrow will be better.
I did get another shipment of eye drops so there are two more boxes on the porch waiting for the dry ice to disappear! I just finally got rid of everything from the last two shipments and now I have another one to deal with. Two more weeks and I'm done.
And I did get 1 year old Great Grandson Cam's birthday gift ready to go. It's going to be late but at 1 year, I don't think he'll notice! His first birthday is January 31! And he's been walking for the past two months. He has to keep up with his two older siblings. And he's taking after his Grandma. My daughter Cindy was walking well at 10 months. No one believed that all she was at the Fourth of July Parade!
JACKIE, I forgot about calling LLOYD, I wrote myself a not to call tomorrow and see if one of them answers. I have a number for him and one for Nancy, too!
I guess I better go get ready for the haystack. I'm tired right down to my toenails and I have to be up early to meet Cooper tomorrow! I wish you all a great night's sleep and a good day tomorrow. Come by for a visit!

If you reach someone there I think you'll have to explain about our new hard to follow new site. His daughter or Grand daughter next door?
Jane - Rick...this is really out of character of Lloyd, been five & a half weeks now....Rick, i am sure Lloyds younger generation will pick up our new site layout quicker than us elders, especially us who dont take well to change.... ;)
Good morning..
Really foggy out there this morning! We will actually see the sun today.
Will try to get the work caught up today. Do we ever catch up??? Pumpkin pie is waning so another dessert to be thought of and made.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning Everyfriend! This is NOT a good eye day so things are going a bit more slowly. Cooper arrived on time, had his breakfast, followed me around until it go light enough out there to take a walk. We had a good walk and then he went out in the fenced yard and had some conversations with the new doggie in the next house over!
I spent time doing eye things and getting some stuff out to make supper. Next I'm going to cut and pack individual servings of my egg casserole and put a couple in the freezer for when Christy comes up from Baltimore! Then I have to figure out what I'm going to wear to the dinner party the night before Kyle's wedding in February. I have a new pair of pants but they need shortening. It would probably be good to try them when Christy's here. She can pin them up and then I can shorten them.
I'll sure be glad when this special eye drop thing is over. It seems to take so much time!
I tried to call LLOYD'S phone number and NANCY'S phone number. Neither one answered and they don't have the message thing set up. So now what? I wish we knew their daughter's number! I don't even know her name. And, by the way, I've told all my kids that if anything happens to me, they need to post it in here so you all don't need to wonder! And I'm asking them if they mind if I give a number or two to AMY. People just disappear in here and we never know what happened. It's kind of sad!
Now I'm off to more eye drops! And to get set up for later meals! Have a good rest of the day and let us share it with you. We miss you when you're not here!
Jane --- I sent you a PM.
Rick, just talked with Jane and gave her the granddaughters phone number.
The day is slipping by! I bought big lima beans the other day and I am looking for a recipe .

Oh my that sounds good and into the instant pot it can go!! Do you remember if your Mom added onions or any spices? Finding dried lima beans is like finding hens teeth!! I used to be able to get the baby limas but all they had was the big ones which is fine. Thank you for the direction.
I don't believe she added any spices or onion or garlic. The browned chops were enough to give it very good flavor.
Ok, thank you.
Got the granddaughter's answering machine and she hasn't called back. Maybe I'll try again tomorrow but I'll wait until the early evening to make the call! Thanks everyone for your help.
I'm off to the haystack! I'm tired and I have to be up early to get started on the eyedrops and have my breakfast before Cooper arrives at 6:45. I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a great day tomorrow. Come back and share it with all of us!
Jane - When I click on your weather link (bottom of your post), I get weather for the Bronx, NY
And when I click on it, it shows the weather from where my internet provider is located. That tells me yours is located in the Bronx.
