My friend's husband is always telling her that housekeeping would be a snap if only she would organize her time better.
Recently he had a chance to put his theory into practice while his wife was away.
When I popped in one evening to see how he was managing, he crowed, "I made a cake, frosted it, washed the kitchen windows, cleaned all the cupboards, scrubbed the kitchen floor, walls and ceiling and even had a bath."
I was about to concede that perhaps he was a better manager than his wife, when he added sheepishly,
"When I was making the chocolate frosting, I forgot to turn off the mixer before taking the beaters out of the bowl, so I had to do all the rest."

Teacher: Maria, go to the map and find America.
Maria: Here it is.
Teacher: Correct. Now, class, Who discovered America?
Class: Maria.
When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives means the most to us, we often find that it is the one who, instead of giving much advice, solutions, or cures, has chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a gentle and tender hand. The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares.

Many who have spent a lifetime in it can tell us less of love than the child that lost a dog yesterday.

Happy Canada Day to those over the border.
Good morning..
Air quality is not nice this morning so in door work will be done. Someone keeps emptying the cookie container and dust kangaroos deem to enjoy living here. After we come back from meeting friends in town they will be dealt with. My friend phoned last night and said don't buy anything at the grocery stroe, apparently he went to a farm stand a made off with cherries, strawberries and corn not sure what else to make his bill over $200.00!
When putting scraps out in the compost bin I noticed a wee bird maybe 2 inches in length taking twigs into one of the birdhouses, We now have swollows in one and a house wren in the other! The swollows are just about ready to fly as I see the young ones popping their heads out of the house every now and then.
Bubble, thank you for the wonderful begining. Neuwen said it best, and Costain gave us the smile.
Shirley, thank you. I think Don and I are the only Canadians here that I know of. Since the 4th is on a Tue will you celebrate this or next weekend?
Better shake a leg and get moving..
Enjoy your day and stay safe!
Good Morning Everyfriend. And a special Good Morning to BUBBLE who, once more, has given us some beautiful pictures and a lot of food for thought!
Is this CANADA DAY! Thank you SHIRLEY for the reminder and....
HAPPY CANADA DAY TO AMY AND ANY OTHER CANADIANS WHO LOOK IN!
I'm up and attem and awaiting Cooper's arrival! He'll be here around 6:45 and he'll be ready for breakfast and then a walk.
The air is still bad here. We still have an ozone layer so when we walk, I try to make it a short one. He doesn't understand but he cooperates.
I wish Everyfriend and good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
Good late morning again everyone!
Amy, these are for you;

I KNOW YOU ALL MUST BE VERY TIRED OF HEARING MY COMPLAINS ABOUT LOOSING MY POSTS.....
I HAD MY POST READY....I HIT POST....WARNING CAME THAT I COULD NOT POST....then the note saying BUBBLE WAS CLOSING DOWN THE CURRENT FOLDER.....W H A T ? Could that be the reason my post is GONE?
The demons are working against me‼️😞
I wish you ALL a HAPPY 4th of July 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
HAPPY CANADA DAY to AMY and DON as well as anyone else that celebrates this day 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
The 4th celebrations will go on for days now with the 4th coming on Tuesday.
I have to say to JANE, how pleased I was to read the news from your doctor about your jaw cancer....fantastic news.....Bless you🙏
SHIRLY, my heat aches for you that you are not able to be with your sons in Colorado 😩 It hurts that you have to go out and deal with your motor home and you are unable to take a trip in it😞
Our Thursday Night Concert in the park was canceled for the second time due to tornado issues. The tornado did hit in our neighborhood last week, but this week proved to be only a warning. It rained a LOT so our shared meal together was enjoyed by Dave, Carolyn and us inside our home with '90's music playing.... The music the band was supposed to be playing.
On this note I must post this as I have to get a move on.....
Enjoy a GREAT DAY ‼️
Good early afternoon. I'm just late getting going today.
While we still have an Air Alert, it is not bad today. Looks pretty good out. My brain isn't functioning yet so will quit while I'm ahead.
I was just out front and that smoke haze is visible now. It's good that Miss Ellen is following the suggested masking. As far as little ones it is probably better they stay indoors during this smoke problem.
Thank you Everyfriend for the nice words about my good health news. I almost jumped out of the chair when he said two years would be the time needed to watch for a return and then no worries.
I wish you all well. I'm really exhausted today. I don't know what I did to get so tired but I'm going to go try to leave it in my bed overnight. I wish you all a good night and a happy tomorrow! Thank you again for standing (or sitting) with me!
Good morning..
Starting out cooler here but it will likely heat up fast.No rain this way but others to the west of us had tornado warnings.
We met up with friends yesterday and oh my, I now understand why she said don't buy. We came home with 4 quarts of juicy ripe strawberrys, a big bag of fingerling potatoes, a bunch of asparagus ,two tomatoes and a big bag of sweet juicy cherries!! For lunch we had toasted tomatoe sandwhich, not even using the whole tomato!
Today is a day of rest..I am getting good at that job.
Thank you for the Happy Canada day wishes. I didn't hear any fireworks last night but the weekend isn't over with.
Patricia, and Bubble enjoyed your holiday posts.
Jane, stay in as much as you can, out of the smoke, if you do have to go out wear a mask.
Better get moving, day seems to race on, while I am not as fast anymore.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Isn't it strange how the days keep going by faster and faster! I wonder why that is happening?
We're having tornado warning on the phone weather, on the Computer Weather and I even had a phone call with a voice mail telling me where the tornado was expected. I have us shut in the hall way. Cooper doesn't like it much. However, the places they mentioned were a short distance from where I live so I'm not holding my breath. I'm just keeping my ears open! I hope I'll see you tomorrow!
Jane, we'll be waiting to hear.
Jane, knew a lady that everytime a tornado warning for her area she would grab a comforter,a pillow, good book and a glass of wine and head for the bath tub until the tornado passed. Stay safe..
I think the hurrier I go the behinder I get..
I'm on my way to the haystack. The tornado took out a fireworks store about a half mile down the road from me! There was no one in it. You don't think it was a warning to the people selling the fireworks to stop selling them, do you?
I'm on a "don't eat anything" diet until after I have my blood tests done tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. I'm taking coffee along in my thermos to drink on the way home.
Cooper is spending the night with me and his "mommy" will come pick him up in the morning. That way, she can sleep in on her day off! I hope it's not raining in the morning! I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. God bless us, every one!
Good morning..
No rain here althouh the weatherman called for it all weekend. Will have to water the garden soon.
Finally picked out the colours to start another quilt ,will do a test bloke and see how well they play together , it may be back to the drawing board again.
Jane, so happy to read all is well with you and no damage. I again didn't hear any fireworks here and hope tonight will be the same.
Why is it when we are on a do not eat we wake up ravenous ?
Has any one ate green fried tomatoes? Saw a recipe yesterday for them and wondered how they would taste.
Enjoy your day, safe safe and cool!
Good Morning Everyfriend! It's not raining today....yet!
AMY, fried green tomatoes have been in my life since I was little. My grandmother used to make them regularly and I got a liking for them from the time I was big enough to eat anything that she put on the table. There was a span when both my grandmother and my mother were gone and there were no fried green tomatoes in my life but a few years back, I found a recipe on line and now they're back!
Cooper and I just got back from our walk! I'll be taking my shower and getting ready for the dr. visit this morning. I'll also be craving coffee and breakfast! Well, I'm already doing that!
I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
WHERE IS EVERYFRIEND!
Had to laugh about fried green tomatoes.... Cas begged for them & tried to explain how his mother fried. I used a stainless steel Reverware skillet (remember before Teflon?), put in the necessary Crisco, sliced green tomatoes coated with cornmeal & everything stuck to the skillet. I think it took me a year to get that skillet clean & explained to him that if he ever wanted fried green tomatoes he could ask his mother to fix! I will never know what they should taste like!
I'm trying to hold out until holidays are over & hope to enter Hospice House as quick as a bed is available. Must go thru chanels to get there, I'm told. I've enjoyed my whole 88 years and wouldn't change a thing or might not understand what a wonderful world we are living in. God Bless, love y'all. Tisie/Shirley
Jane, I have been busy in the kitchen. One carrot cake and 6 + dozen oatmeal/coconut with orange zest cookies made. I will put some in the hidey hole.
Shirley, green tomatoes remind me to green tomato worms. If I can get over that thought I may, maybe, might try them.
I'm sorry, I'm not a fan. It was too sour, and the cornmeal made it soggy. I was told my mother-in-law made the best, so I ate what I was served and kept my head down.
Good Night Everyfriend! I might be missing tomorrow. Gonna be a busy day!
A good 4th of July eve. We have had fireworks each night since Friday.... I do wish those who do this had more respect for others that do not care for this noise. We even found a good size piece of some kind of fireworks on our back porch.....we heard a VERY LOUD BOOM, but did not realize it went off on our back porch‼️
AMY, my first thought of eating fried green tomatoes was seeing those big old green worms. If you smash them .......OMG that awful looking stuff.....yep, no fried green maters for me‼️
SHIRLEY, the thought of you waiting for a bed at the HOSPICE HOUSE makes me so very sad. I guess I am in total denial regarding your health issue. I just want you to be well and continue to be the Tisie I know😩😭 AND without a doubt, I know you want to be that too❣️
JANE, I HOPE and PRAY your blood work report comes back good. I can do OK with no food, but boy do I miss my coffee when I have to fast😩 I realize this sounds mean but my first thought about the fireworks stand being destroyed was "Y E A". GLAD no one was hurt🙏
We plan to join two sons and families at a little parade in Dr. Dave's community, followed by a community BBQ. Then we will go to the house and have some family fun time together.
I wish EVERYFRIEND a fun and safe day tomorrow. GOD BLESS AMERICA on her Birthday 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Our Meets & Greets group is planning a large picnic/barbeque tomorrow but not until two. Everyone is contributing, as this might be our last big gathering of the season. I'm making a large green salad, and they're expecting twenty to show up, so this should be good!
We have had cool days and in the eighties in the afternoons and evenings. We have not had the fireworks or the army bringing out the howitzers for the Alaskaland's Pioneer Park annual Celebration. The police, thankfully, are really cracking down on the kids' fireworks.
Happy 4th of July!!
Good morning..
Another sunny hot day here. Last night I watered all the plants ,giving them a deep soaking. No rain in sight but hot (to us) weather ahead for a few days.
Will be stopping at the garage to get the starter replaced, 3 times it didn't want to go but finally did and now it is going to go! Enough is enough!
Did anyone see the moon last night? Beautiful!
Patricia, enjoy your picnic with your friends today..
Jane, may your day warm your heart with good memories to keep.
Jenny, have fun at Dr Daves today..
Enjoy your day, safe travels for those on the highways.
Everyone have a safe and fun Fourth of July! Amy's post about baking all that wonderful food (I want a cookie).
I tried a supposedly "easy" banana bread recipe (Bisquick), and it didn't seem all that easy to me. The end product was nowhere near the banana bread I baked and posted about here, oh, about a year ago I think. Maybe I didn't have enough bananas. It called for 2 large, which I used. So, all in all, it is "just" edible, kind of dry, did bake up nice though. I am working my way through it...thick slices, buttered up and about 10 seconds in the microwave. Guess it is definitely worth all the extra work to get the result you expect! So much for "easy" recipes.
Happy birthday America! We are experiencing hot, hazy, humid weather, but I just think back to frigid days of a few months ago and keep my complaints to myself. A lot of our Canada Day fireworks were cancelled this year because of the smoke/fire hazards.
[I do believe this will be my go to oatmeal cookie recipe, the orange zest and coconut made it. The recipes that say easy are very trying at times.
Don, good to see you. Stay in where it is cool, they say the temps will reach 103 during this week.

I'm heading for the haystack! Today was a busy day and a good day!
AMY, I like the idea of coconut and orange zest in oatmeal cookies. Do we have the recipe?
Good night Everyfriend! I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. And may God bless us, every one!
As the smoke clears, and quiet returns, it is time to call it a day.
It has been a Fantastic 4th of July, my neighbors shot off some fireworks so I could watch from my window (I explained my love for fireworks) and brought me the most wonderful dessert that the Mom made, my daughter is asking for the recipe. And now we are having the rain everything needs so badly. I am up & down every 2-3 hours so don't miss out on a lot. My world is as perfect as it can be and I wish for all of you the same joy to the end of your days. God Bless, love y'all. Thanks for understanding about no phone calls. Tisie/Shirley
Shirley, I sent you a PM!
Good Morning Everyfriend! I had a good day yesterday, too! Right now I'm having my breakfast and awaiting the arrival of mydaytime companion, Cooper. He'll be here around 6:45!
Today will be a quieter one. I do have an ear appt. at 1:30 but it's just a checkup and won't take long!
I wish you all a good day! Make it your own in every way!
Good morning...
Another hot day in the making. Not going to complain as we did have a long winter!
Taking Kyle to pick up more pine this morning then home to work about. I did start another quilt after tryin to find the right mix in fabric. I think that is the hardest part in getting a quilt ready.
Jane and Shirley, happy to read you both enjoyed your July 4th. Jane I will post the recipe for you. All it is ,is my oatmeal cookie recipe that needed
something?? I used the zest from one orange, 2 cups of coconut in exchange for 2 cups of the 6 cups of oatmeal. Will post it in Whats for Dinner for you.
Patricia, how was your picnic?
Phyllis, how are you?
Lloyd, did you have a good July 4th?
Better get going..
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Posted a photo in Photos Old and New of what was watching us this morning..wonder how many times we were being watched?
Jane, oatmeal cookie recipe is posted..
I'm still plugging along, Amy. Yesterday was quiet. Too hot to go anywhere. I made a good dinner for us. Remembered the kidney bean salad from my mother and made a bowl of that alongside of some bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwiches and sliced fresh peaches from Papa Spuds. And icebox pickles and chips to go with. It was good. We had a few fireworks by the neighbors and watched the children wave sparklers. It was all over by the time the fireflies came out. Very enjoyable day.
So nice to hear from all here.
Good late afternoon, it's 2:40 here and I returned home just recently. My 11 am doctor's appointment was cancelled due to the doctor no longer practicing at the clinic. They said that they repeatedly called and left voice messages last month but for "some odd" happenstance, my phone showed no calls from their number, so that was a wasted trip.
My new one will be July 20th. This was supposed to have been not only my annual checkup but to talk about and schedule my floater and cataract surgery. If it wasn't for covid closing so many ophthalmologists' clinics, I'd go elsewhere.
Another hour was fruitlessly going to five separate mall anchor stores to look for my missing eyeglasses. They are all situated on both sides of the highway bus stop where I discovered them missing. I was surprised to see that each store had a number of black, prescription, eyewear in their lost and found, just not mine.
I did manage to pick up a two-piece set of smaller fry pans I've had on my list forever and a new Hoover, pet vacuum. After two stick vacuums lasting less than two years each, I found an XL size bagless one that says it's made for pet owners so we shall see. I also returned some sandals and picked up a few listed items that I forgot on Tuesday. So, it was a busy morning spent doing errands.
Amy, my picnic was enjoyable, lots of good food and good company. I was surprised to hear about so many having had cataract surgery and good experiences from that. We had buffalo burgers, moose hotdogs, hot coffee, iced tea, different types of sodas and many, many dishes, macaroni salads, potato salads, and green salads. And a good number of desserts.
Mine seemed to be a hit even if I thought I had lettuce, but it turned out to be a small green cabbage that I went and chopped anyway. I believe it was the small hunks of gouda I added rather than the other veggies that made it a hit with the guys. The various macaroni and potato salads disappeared fast as did the various baked beans.
There were about twenty to thirty people coming and going, with seniors, kids, grandkids, and family friends so lots of good conversation, good food, and good times.
Amy, just for information, what do you put on your "tomato sandwiches"? If I'm just going with the tomato, I use some mayo. I make a BLT without lettuce, as I can't chew it well.
I'm not Amy, but I find a slice or two of American Cheese goes well with a tomato sandwich. If available I might toss in some bacon.
I'm not AMY either but my BLT doesn't have lettuce either since I can't chew it since the surgery on my cheek. And instead of the bacon, I sometimes put in a slice or two of lunch meat. In this area it's Lebanon Bologna. That's been my favorite lunch meat most of my life. And a slice of cheese goes well.
AMY, I'm all set up to do the cookies in the morning. I have everything measured but I'm about a quarter cup short of brown sugar so I'm filling in with white sugar. I thought that would work ok since the recipe already has white sugar in it. My mouth is watering already!
PATRICIA, your gathering sounds like it was fun! Nice to have so many friends all together in one place. Sorry you didn't find your glasses!
BUBBLE, your flowers are gorgeous! They must draw your attention away from the computer a lot during your day! You don't just have a green thumb! Your whole hand and half your arm must be green, too!
I'm headng for the haystack since tomorrow is an early one. Cooper will be arriving about 6:45 ready for his breakfast and his first walk of the day. I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. God bless.
Hmmm...tomato sandwiches are best on thick brown bread with seeds, green homemade crunchy relish, and a nice slice of sweet white onion!
Good morning...
Another day to stay inside, not because of smoke but the heat.Thankfully we have not been bothered by the smoke lately. I was talking with David and he said we stay inside all winter waiting on summer, then stay inside because of the heat. :2funny:
Van goes in this morning for a new starter!! I do hope that is the problem ,if not we have narrowed the causes of it not always starting.
Tome, I like my tomato sandwich madewith a tomato fresh picked, still warm from the sun on toasted whole wheat with mayo not miracle whip, bacon or a nice slice of smoked ham with iceburg lettuce.Pepper and garlic sprinkled on top. Try a peanutbutter and tomato sandwich, they are also good. :)
Jane, you should be fine, sometimes I do not put all the sugar in as they are a sweet cookie (to me)
Patricia, your sandwich sounds good, I also like green hommade relish, not a fan of store bought! That was a good gathering of friends, lots of food also. Nice to catch up up what others have been doing and just enjoy the day.
Better get going..
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning Everyfriend! Morning has arrived and so has Cooper! He's had his breakfast and is waiting for his walk. That's next on the agenda. And when we get back from the walk, the cookies get under way!
Later today is the hearing appt that I can't seem to pin down to the right day. But I checked the calendar this time and it says today at 1:30 and so did my driver!
I hope you all have a great day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
Jane, it is easy to make your own brown sugar. Just add a spoon full of molasses to white sugar and mix it together. You can make it as light or as dark as you like and only as much as you need. AND, it won't sit in the pantry and clump.
I use an immersion blender and make my own mayo for tomato sandwiches. A regular blender would work just as well. And, you can season it to your preference.
Take care.
OKAY, PHYLLIS, I think I heard that about the brown sugar before but I've never done it. This time I made a note of it!
AMY, there was one thing you neglected to tell me about the cookies.... The recipe makes about a thousand cookies! If I ever get rid of all these cookies and make them again, it will be a half recipe!
Also, there are about a hundred cookies in the Soda Shoppe. Please have some with your coffee today! Incidentally, I've already eaten 10 and a half. Cooper had the other half!
Back from getting a starter installed, took longer than anticipated but it is in and I do hope that ends my problems.
Jane, :2funny: I always double or triple a cookie recipe. There is a cookie monster in this house along with 2 or 3 if you count me helpers. Can't have a glass of milk, cup of tea with a cookie or 4. ;) Glad you enjoyed them. I take the zest from the orange and then give the rest of the orange to Kyle to eat.
Our 4th of July celebration was very enjoyable as well. The weather cooperated for the most part however we were run out of the pool area twice due to lightning. Son Mark with our youngest grands did not stay as long as planned as 4 year old Jonah had some allergy and his poor little eyes swelled up very quickly and looked awful. He has been around the dogs...played on grass, etc. forever so not sure what caused this. Dave's dogs are both "doodles" so super hypoallergenic🤷 The little kiddos of Dave's friend and the grands were have a great time playing together. Nana was a HAPPY lady.
All of your picnics sounded very nice. The food at your get together, PATRICIA, sounded wonderful.
PATRICIA, what a waste of time for you going to a schedule doctors appointment only to find out your doctor doesn't practice any longer🤷 I love when they tell you the have left numerous messages for you and you have NOTHING😡😡 I am still reeling from the fact that my neck surgeons office told me on the phone I was scheduled for surgery on the 5th of July and I never heard another word from them🤷 Sorry you have lost your glasses😩
AMY, your cookies are delicious and I really enjoyed them with my cup of coffee this morning ❣️ Thank you🥰 Sorry the van had to go in the shop for a new starter‼️ Sometimes you feel like car repairs can nickel and dime you to death....but it isn't Nicole and dimes these days, is it?
PHYLLIS, your and David's 4th of July meal sure sounded good to me. Our fireworks were all canceled due to the weather but many individuals did more than we needed to hear anyway. We watched the Fourth Festivities on the TV. NOT as enjoyable as past ones as we do not know ANY of the performers these days and do not care for their music😩
HEY RADIOMAN....good to see your post‼️
Yesterday we went to the Denver Botanical Gardens. It was very enjoyable however quite cool so we needed a jacket. Our favorite thing to see were the water lilys......they were ALL blooming and were gorgeous ‼️
It appears our weekly concert is going to be rained out again tonight....think we are going to try a Wednesday night jazz one next week🤷♀️
I must run....the dryer is "singing" to me.
Have a wonderful day EVERYFRIEND ‼️
Well, it's been another busy day! Cookie baking in the morning, then a ear dr. appt. then some cleaning and cooking and walking in the afternoon.
The ear dr. cleaned out the inside of my hearing aids and I can hear much better!
JENNY, it sounds like you had a nice holiday even if you didn't like the music! It's so much fun to be around the little ones, isn't it.
I have to get some sleep now. A friend is picking me up at 7:30 tomorrow to go pick black and red raspberries. The black ones are my favorites! I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. God bless us, every one!
Good morning..
Another warm one, good day to stay inside. Will go get more lumber then home to work
Jane, your cookies are good!! Wonder if we also put craisins in them??
Have fun picking berries.
Jenny, I do hope this solves the problem of not starting sometimes. I need a reliable vehicle . This new music is not music to me, just a lot of screaming and noise.
Time is moving faster than I am..
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Hello AMY and anyone else who decides to show face by writing in here! I didn't sleep too well last night and I was up at 5 a.m. But I was ready to go when Shirley and her daughter and granddaughter showed up. We were all finished at the same time. They picked for three (two families) and I picked for one! Well, if you looked at all the berries I brought home, you'd think I was picking for 5...maybe 6. But they are so good! And this place has a saying for the pickers "one for the bucket, two for your mouth!" So I had a nice breakfast add on!
Right now they are sitting in a bowl of sugar, lemon juice and water for two hours. Then I'm making and canning black raspberry syrup for the first time in my life. It sounded good and I thought of about 10 ways to use the syrup. Wish me luck!
When I got home, I took the Cooper-snoop for a walk, loved him up, washed the berries, had lunch, read the paper and then took a nap! I feel better and I'm ready to go!
AMY, I hope your vehicle keeps moving now that something else got fixed! I think I might be glad I don't have a vehicle to worry about any more!
Enjoy the rest of your day. I'll probably check in before I go to bed!
Syrup is out of the canner and cooling! I have 8 half-pint jars and I've heard 7 pops. I'm hoping the last one popped when I was out of the kitchen putting things away. Not coming in here again tonight. I'm tired and heading for the haystack early! Sleep well!
Been a busy day here as well but not as busy as today Jane!! I like the one for the bucket, two for the mouth rule. Should the last jar not seal, just think how good it would be on vanilla ice cream1
I do hope the new starter solves the problem with the vehicle. Playing Russian roulette every time I start the vehicle is hard on the nerves!
Saying goodnight...
Good Morning, AMY and anyone else who shows! I slept like the dead last night! I think I was really worn out. But I'm ready for today! The raspberry syrup is all sealed, labeled and ready to spend some time on the shelf.
I wish you all a good day today! I can't ask for better than yesterday because it was the BEST for a while! Enjoy whatever comes your way!
Good morning..
Much nicer weather here now, humidity has gone, for now. Interesting to hear the changing of the wake up calls. Used to be crow making a racket but now a robin has taken over the duty ,then along comes the crow of the rooster in the mornings now. I don't mind listening to them but wish they would whisper at times.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good morning all ---
We're starting the day at 80°, and the humidity is already at the top. TG for A/C's
Good late morning at 10:47 from the Interior. This is the second day of gray skies and steady rain; hopefully, the next two weeks of expected return to sunny skies are warranted.
I've been busy with morning household chores and afternoon computer shuffling.
Another day with no Cooper but I got lots done. It was mostly laundry. I stripped beds, washed mattress pads, sheets and blankets and remade the beds when they a all came out of the wash. Then I did a couple loads of clothes and everything is clean except the towels. There weren't enough of them for a load so they can keep a couple of days.
I won't be going to church tomorrow but I plan to watch it from my church on face book. Everyone is either away or under Drs orders to do nothing. So my plans have to fit that.
I had a nice bowl of fresh picked black raspberries for my supper! Ummmm, Ummmm goooood!
I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. God bless!
Good morning..
We had a lovely rain during the night so no watering the garden for me. A day of rest here ,nothing on the agenda other than sewing.
Jane, fresh picked berries with cream is the perfect dessert!
Patricia, are you getting any sunny days your way? Did you find your glasses ?
Rick, yesterday we didn't need the a/c now today is another matter. We didn't have the humidity either yesterday and a light breeze was blowing.
Shirley, thinking of you .
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning AMY and anyone else who shows this morning!
We had a nice rain last night. They were warning of severe thunderstorms but I didn't hear thunder close by. It was off in the distance. The rain soaked everything so I didn't have to drag out the hose.
Right now, it's 71 degrees here and only supposed to get to a high of 77 today. They're still talking about a flood watch until around 8 this morning! I'm not in a flood area or even close enough to see if there is flooding but Cathy and Philip can both see it! It would have to be really bad to get to either of their houses but they CAN see it!
The only thing on my agenda today besides church is making something for dinner. I haven't decided what just yet. But I have a couple ideas!
SHIRLEY, I'm thinking of you, too. I hope you're doing OK!
And for those of you who never show up any more, and those of you who show up sometimes...I still think of all of you as dear friends!
I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow
Well, -- we're having another day starting at 80°, though that is the predicted high for the day. Rain due around 11;00 which seems to be working it's way across Pennsylvania now. Local flood warnings so I'm guessing some fast, heavy thunder storms. But we do need the rain.
Hopefully I can keep some ambition so that later I can cook something decent. Right now it's boneless pork chops.
Good day to all that pass through.
Good afternoon; a mostly sunny day today in the early eighties later this afternoon. It feels nice after two grey, dreary days of rain. The rain is expected to return on Wednesday; let's hope it changes its mind!
Amy, my glasses were never found. I'm hesitant to order a new pair until my rescheduled cataract surgery update on the 20th. Until then, I have a pair of old glasses from years ago.
Nothing going on here except for, as Callie says, domestic duties and some computer reshuffling.
The meets and greets have been quiet as well, so different from previous years; a lot of pesky ailments, doctor visits, and not much else going on in the group.
Now the day is over,
Night is drawing nigh.
Shadows of the evening
Steal across the sky!
One of my old camp songs from my Girl Scout days! Good Night my friends. Sleep peacefully and wake happy to a new day!
Goodnight all. Tomorrow starts a new week.
Good morning...
Another cool morning that is going to race its way up the thermometer!
Yesterday was fun, I did manage to get some sewing done and we had company to enjoy in the afternoon.
Today is making phone calls , chasing dust kangaroos and laundry.
Patrica, understand why you are waiting as you may not need a strong prescription for the glasses. Neighbour now just uses reading glasses and her glass before were very strong.
Rick ,how did your pork chops turn out?
Jane, I remember closing songs and holding hands with the young ones as we sang.
Has anyone heard from Lloyd?
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning to AMY and RICK and anyone else who looks in later.
Cooper has arrived and he's had his breakfast. Next he'll be telling me it's time for a walk. At least we don't have to do that in the rain. We had it all day yesterday and into the night. I'm not sure when it stopped because it was still doing it when I went to bed! But it had stopped and was beginning to dry off when I got up!
AMY, funny how the camp songs stick with us!
I have stuff sitting on the kitchen counter to make soup but I'm having second thoughts about that. I have a lot of soup already made and canned. Maybe I'll just use that up
I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
Some sad news: Thieves visited the house yesterday while I was at a bone density scan at the clinic. They made a mess in the bedrooms. I think we came back while they were still in - the door was blocked, so I call the police. They came fast with special armed force, hoping to catch them.
It felt like in a film.
I am Ok, just a little chocked. My carer is in trauma. He did not sleep the whole night!
Quote from: Amy on July 10, 2023, 07:03:17 AMRick ,how did your pork chops turn out?
As usual they were delicious. I love pork. I simmer with celery soup for a while, then use the residual (from the cooking process) soup mix as a gravy. Last night I added something new (and so easy). After I put the chop on a plate and smothered it with the soup/gravy, I sprinkled some "French's, Crispy Fried Onions" over it. MMMmmmmm.
Last night we had a real rainstorm in the area. Jane probably had it earlier. Luckily for me the worse of it went just West of us. News report said the next County got 8" in places. Lots of flooding. We only flooded in the usual places.
Bubble, --- sorry to hear that report. Not something we should have to deal with in our latter years. Hope you and carer are OK and have recovered a bit.
Bubble, I am so sorry you had to endure this invasion!! I hope they do catch whoever did this to you. Please take care..
Rick, that sounds really good!! I have also used mushroom soup as well but must try your French's Onions next time.
Waiting on call back phone messages so will shhh take Jesse and cut his nails. Something he is not fond of but needs to be done.
Quote from: Amy on July 10, 2023, 10:39:23 AMRick, that sounds really good!! I have also used mushroom soup as well but must try your French's Onions next time.
I knew about the mushroom soup but I never cared for mushrooms. My guess is that this method was on a can of Campbell's Soup many years ago.
Bubble, I'm so very sorry! What a trauma to deal with! I worry about my cards all the time as well as my information being leaked.
One done and I am fighting with Babe to get her nails done. I have given her 2 pills from the vet to relax her but so far they are not working. :(
Rick, then cream of celery or even cream of chicken would be the tasty way to go.
Jane, I did make soup, cream of broccoli with some vegetables throw in. Made a hearty soup for lunch!
Bubble, so sorry to hear about your house getting robbed. Hope the Police can catch them. Hope you and your carer can calm down and sleep well.
Oh dear me, BUBBLE! That sounds like a really scary time you've had! I wonder how any of us would react to that happening? I often wonder if that could happen where I live? I certainly hope it never happens to anyone else.
Now I have to go take the Cooper-Snoop for a walk! He's really bugging me!
If there's anyone there.... Good Night and Good Morning!
Good morning..
I am here Jane.. although it wasn't good night. The meds finally worked on Babe and I did get her nails done. She was so sedated/out of it that she slept on the dog bed in the livingroom, during the night I heard her and ended up taking her to bed where she still is. Not going to use that med again.
Today is Kyle getting his hair cut and working around home.
Bubble hope today is a better day for you and your caregiver.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Awwwww! Poor little Babe! I hope she has a happier day today!
Jane, she is slowly coming around, she is eating and drinking and has been outside. Still not herself but getting there.
Men were here to check out the garage door, sometimes it opens other times ..nope. Remember the van starting then nope....well here we go again. THe man checked it out and everything seems to be working but if it does it again he will install a new one.
We are having thunder, lightening and rain and they say hail will also drop.:( I hope no hail or the garden will be tore to shreds!
Well, AMY, it's just you and me today. I hope SHIRLEY is OK and I wonder about PHYLLIS, Rick, LLOYD, PATRICIA, DENVER and anyone else that used to be regular in here.
I'm off to the haystack and it's going to be a busy A.M. for me tomorrow. COOPER will be arriving around 6:45 and he'll need his breakfast and a nice long walk. Then I have to take a shower and get ready for a dr. appt. to be picked up around 9:30. I have no idea how long it will take because it's a new dr. I probably won't show here until late morning.
AMY, I made a dinner in the crock pot and the only thing I can think of to call it is "That's It"! I just used stuff I had on hand and as it went along I thought of something else to add. I guess I could just call it "Stuff" and I'd be right! But it sure as heck turned out good. Maybe I should call it "GOOD STUFF"!
I'm off! Have a good night's sleep and a happy tomorrow! God bless!
I'm here. Been in and out several times today. But as usual I'm one of few words.
Thank you for kind words, it helped me get through the trauma of my privacy being invaded. Now I'm busy with all the paper work for the insurance. the think of and remember everything gives me a headache!
Good morning..
The ground is smiling from the rain we had yesterday.
We are off to the city this morning, meeting up with Bri for lunch. Then high tail it home.
Jane, that's the best kind of meal, all in one pot and all tasty items in it.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning, AMY and BUBBLE (so far today)! Cooper has arrived and had his breakfast and a walk and took care of business! I'm just about to take my shower and get dressed for my first checkup with my new Dr.
AMY, have a safe trip and tell David I said "Hello" and give him a hug from me. And tell him he's supposed to give YOU one for me!
Have a good day, Everyfriend, better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
If there's anyone around at all today, I'm home from my dr visit and I really Like my new dr! I'd say she's probably half my age but she's not stuck at that age. She asks questions and she listens to the answers. Then she forms opinions and gives me a choice of what to do for whatever it is that might be causing a problem. My blood pressure is in a good stage and she went over the chart for the blood work I had done the other day and I'm healthy! Imagine that! At this age, I'm healthy!
I hope Everyfriend is having a good day! I sure am! I'm going out to the kitchen and warn up some of the "Good Stuff" I made yesterday and have my lunch and read the paper!
Good late morning again. I'm up later and sleeping later, unfortunately. Last night the rain returned with a bit of a light show. However, today is another grey, dreary day of rain. I'm sure all the growing things are soaking in every bit and drop they can; it all looks green and lush out there!
Jane, it's always nice to hear good medical news at our age. I go in on the 20th for an annual eye exam and hope to hear more about my floaters and cataract removal.
Amy, I'm sorry Babe was so affected by that med, and I hope she's over it by now. We never know how a medication will affect our pets, and sometimes I wish the doctors paid more attention to both them and what we are saying.
Bubble, it is so upsetting to have your home invaded like that and then work afterward to check everything and set it back right. It makes me angry how others feel it's okay to steal instead of working for it themselves!
There is nothing new here; my need for sleep leaves me behind in many chores. I'm not feeling energetic at all lately.
We are home and I do not want to even think of supper!! We ate at a new place to us and mercy me one had better be hungry as the serving is large!! We ended bring a lot home, some to share with the furkids and some for the crows.
Jane, David is closer to you then me at the moment but when I do see him I will tell him that! Happy to read you like your Dr and she also listens!! Something very rare anymore.I am to get a recipe from a friend that can be frozen..it is hamburg in a bun that you make .Take the raw dough and put a spoonfull of hamburg mixture in and fold over and bake. Easy portable meal.
Patricia, Babe is back to herself now. I will admit she sure had me worried but won't /will not/never get those pills again......did I say no? :)
Time for a cuppa tea..
Bad news - It appears we've lost Shirley.
See https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/wichita-ks/shirley-stallard-11364277
How very sad! I had private messaged her early last week, and she filled me in on the present condition of her health. It did not bode well. We will all miss her. The tales about her cats, her visits down to the creek/river and penchant for watching the wildlife there. As she mentioned, she had a very full life.
Rick, thank you for letting us know...not the news we want but knew sadly it was coming.
Tome, like you I also enjoyed Shirley's posts about her cats, she really spoiled/loved them. Plus I enjoyed her camping trips. One should be so lucky as to enjoy life like Shirley did..
I'm so very sorry to learn about Shirley - although it wasn't unexpected. She certainly lived Life To The Fullest!!!!
Thank you RICK! I've been thinking of Shirley for weeks now and I almost got to meet her on my last trip to OKLA. but she turned me off. I wish now that I hadn't listened to her and made the stop anyway! She will certainly be missed not only by me but by many, many more people! She was well loved! And she will be remembered forever!
R I P dear Shirley...i think you knew and had given us the warning via your last posting that your day was near when you mentioned Hospice, and that was the way you was posting your goodbye to us...I so enjoyed your reminiscence's on your time living in Marlow UK...You are already sadly missed....
I was very sad to hear the news, Rick, and thank you for letting us know. Even though she told us, I somehow didn't believe it.
Good bye Shirley. You were a great person to know and you will be missed by all who met you in life or on line, especially here in S&F. I lit a candle for you, as we do here for relatives and friends. You certainly counted among them. Farewell.
Thanks Rammel for letting us know.

Good morning..
Woke to a gentle much needed rain. Kyle has an appointment this morning and he is going to see if he can get in to get his hair cut. My day I will take as it comes, small jobs to be done and ironing.
Bubble, thank you for the photos of Shirley.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good bye Shirley - Tisie - "Sis". "We'll Meet Again". Till then we'll all miss you.
I've been in here twice before today but I missed SHIRLEY so much I couldn't think of anything to say. Still can't! Hope you all have a good day!
So sad to hear of Shirley's passing...I comment most on medical...but occasionally read her comments...may she RIP....
Shirley was what embodied the old SeniorNet. She will be missed. I always loved hearing about her close family, grandchildren, and many trips to Colorado in her motorhome. She always saw the bright side.
I am just so sad and sorry to read of Our Shirley's passing. Even though we knew it would not be too long before we would read this news.....I think many of us were in denial😩 I certainly was😩 Shirley will be missed not only by her dear blood family but by OUR Soda Shoppe Family also. She was a beautiful lady that always made others feel important. Bless you SHIRLEY 🙏 Rest in peace next to your dear husband and life partner Cass.
Bob and I were able to meet Shirley and her oldest Son, Andy in person at their camp site here in Colorado. She loved to come to Colorado to camp and paint. She was quite the artist. My heart aches for ALL of us as she will be sorely missed🙏
Thank you RAMMEL for sharing this sad news.
Good Morning Everyfriend! All I could think of all day yesterday was our good friend, SHIRLEY! When I stopped by last night, I sat here for minutes thinking of what to write and I couldn't do it. I missed her every minute since she left us! I'm sure she's with God and probably trying to get Him to try one of her recipes!
Today will be a quiet one around here. Frankie has the day off so I don't have Cooper to distract me! I do have some things hollering to be done around here and (maybe) I'll get around to doing some of them. And (MAYBE) I won't! When I'm finished here, I'll be getting dressed and taking my first walk of the day!
I wish you all a good day..better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
Good morning..
Foggy morning here. We missed the or rather the tornado missed us and traveled east.
Woke to the sound of crows, they have now brought their "kids" in to the crow buffet and it is fun to watch the babies, as big as the parents beg to be fed.
Will see if Kyle can get his hair cut today too many in the shop yesterday and he would rather have the Dad not the son. Garage door acted up when we came home yesterday, so a call was put in and they will come Mon or Tue to replace the motor.
A lot of little jobs waiting to be done today.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
I watched Shirley's Funeral service this morning. Still feeling such sadness that we will not have her participating here with us any longer. She always had so much to add to the conversation. It is interesting that many of our "friends" in this discussion are more important to us than some friend in our life. I think in many cases we know MORE about the inner personalities of these friends.
SHIRLEY led a full life and she had a wonderful close family as well as friends. This is extremely apparent as I watched her service today🙏 My heart is aching for ALL who feel her loss🙏
I just got the news this morning that a good high school friend passed away. It is always sad to hear, but for whatever reason this news did not even closely affect me like the news about Shirley. I think many of you will understand this😩
AMY, I do hope Kyle was able to get in with the "dad" today for his haircut‼️ I went back in yesterday for a RE-trim as my lady just did not take enough off last week. Unfortunately, or maybe not, my lady was not in and another gal did a GREAT job and I liked her technique a LOT. Now, that might cause me an issue IF I would like to go to the new gal now🤷
BUBBLE, I just want you to know I was very sad that you had the break in at your home. It does make one feel so violated. Shame on the individual(s) that did this to you.
JANE, it is always good to get positive news from your doctor after blood work has been done. Good for you❣️
PATRICIA, I hope you can get scheduled for your cataract removal soon. I really need to get a good eye doctor as I am really having trouble reading the dash board on the car due to light issues and driving at night.
Two sons, ladies and two grands are going to see Taylor Swift in concert tonight. Our San Francisco ones flew in this morning. We will all get together tomorrow and I am SO EXCITED❣️ Our PGA son and family will just come for dinner as he has a big golf tournament and dinner at his club....
Enjoy the rest of your day and weekend EVERYFRIEND.
Jenny
I'm on my way to the haystack. This has been a very tiring day and I'm ready!
JENNY, I wish I'd known that I could watch SHIRLEY'S service. It might have given me closure!
I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow...God Bless!
well I have not ben for severial days, other things going on,taking my time. as with all the rest of you all, I am so sory to read about shirleys Passing. but even so, we all will miss her same as all the rest as all of us here in seinor and friends every where, and her familey and friens every where will miss her,(but she is in a better place now), (I know she is with god) I have a lot of good friends and famle every where, but a lot of time the way are in this wourld i would like to go and be with her there. but god have his way in his owen time. Have a good rest of the day and a better tomorow.
PS
I forgot to meinson we had a good one" of badley needed rain. catch you all later.
Lloyd
Lloyd...
... good to see a long awaited posting from you absent friend..
Good morning..
More rain this afternoon so outside work this morning and laundry hung out to dry.
Jenny, will try again today for the "dad"...
Jane, emailing you the site ..
Lloyd, good to see you..
Better get a move on here...
Enjoy your day and stay safe
Good Morning Everyfriend! This is going to be a good day! Yesterday was such a "funky" day that my morning prayer was, "Please let something good happen so I know that all's well"! Less that 16 minutes after the prayer, to first good thing happened and there have been 3 more since that! I guess all's well in my world!!
LLOYD, it's so good to see you back with us! Keep on stopping by!
AMY, thanks for the email!
Cooper has arrived, had his breakfast and his walk and took care of everything except a quick turn around the yard. He's asking for that right now!
JACKIE, it's always good to see you stopping by. I hope all's well in your part of the world!
I'm off to see what I can get into today! I wish you all a good one...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
Jane...
...thank you, i am surviving..unsure how or why..
Good morning, second day of rain here so it's a good day for those pesky chores I 've procrastinated too long about.
Finally Kyle got his hair cut, both the Dad and son were there and Kyle got the Dad....not Lewie the lawnmower.
I noticed one doe was hit on the road, sad to see but part of life. Someone had picked her up so maybe the meat could be used???
Patricia, send some energy this way please.
Jane, enjoyed our talk and thank you I had forgotten about the rescue remedy . I only used it for storms but will try it next time for "the pedicure" on Babe.
Locally, several organizations will salvage animal kills along roadways and deliver the meat to various charities who then distribute the meat to their various clients.
It is illegal for anyone to take it upon themselves to salvage the meat without being registered for clients.
Patricia, here if you go through the proper channles you can take the meat, or donate it to those that need it. I agree with not letting the meat go to waste.
We are getting a nice gentle rain...saves me from watering the garden.
Here, only registered organizations may salvage kills after being notified of the site by local authorities. Then the meat must go to charitable organizations for client distribution.
We are on our second day of steady rain and cooler temperatures. Sunday will be the third with steady rain, and next week is supposed to warm up and dry up some.
Well, today was certainly a better day than yesterday! I got a lot of things done and I have ended the day with a feeling of accomplishment! Now I'm heading for the haystack and a good night's sleep!
Cooper will be here around 6:45. This was Frankie's weekend to work this month. Then next Saturday she goes on vacation and Cooper and I have a whole week together!
I wish you all a good night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. God bless!
Goodnight all. Turning the lights off.
The coffee's on for anyone who's ready! Also, there's tea and hot chocolate or cold drinks if you prefer. I also put some cookies out because that recipe of AMY's makes a million and I'll never work my way through them all. Try them! They're good!
I'm waiting for Cooper's arrival and then the day picks up pace. He's on the the way. Frankie just called. Have a great day, Everyfriend!
Good morning...
More rain in the forecast along with sound and light effects too!
Not usre what is happening other than a day of rest. There is an antique car show in another town but not sure if we will go.
Jane, thank you for the tea and cookies. They do make a lot but they don't last long here with my cookie monster. :2funny: Have fun with De Cooper.
Rick, thank you for turning the lights off..
Enjoy your day and stay safe..
Good morning everyone we are overcast , no clouds in sight. it is 85º at 11 am. have a good day. I slept in late this morning. we havea big tub of hickery nuts. I have been cracking and pickeing the nut meats out of them, I now have about three pounds of nut meats to make guddies with.some devinety and fudge both soun good to me.
Lloyd
Good morning, another day of rain and chores. Yesterday was this year's start of Golden Days, a weeklong celebration of our town's founding as a gold rush camp when a miner found an enormous nugget, and everyone rushed to try their luck. There's still a lot of gold here, it's only no longer easy to get to without lots of equipment and workers. Plus, there is lots of opposition to what comes with messing around deep underground.
Patricia, you had a 7.4 earthquake in Alaska, did you feel it in your area?
No that was on the seaward side, at Sand Point, which is almost three thousand miles from here.
I'm off to the haystack! I have to be up and ready to meet Cooper in the morning. He'll be here about 6:45 so the day starts early! I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow! God bless!
Good morning..
Looking to be a lovely day, starting out at 61° and not heading too much into the fry weather.
Not sure if the folks that are to fix the overhead door are coming today or tomorrow, he just said Mon or Tue. Must admit it will be nice to have it working proper and not just sometimes.
Jane, enjoy your day with Cooper.
Patricia, good that it was that far away. I haven't heard of any damage caused by the quake.
Better get ready for the day.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning, AMY and anyone else who shows! Cooper arrived, had his breakfast and his first walk of the day and now he's outside watching for the stray cat that tried to come in our yard yesterday. He chased it away and I'm hoping he scared it enough not to come back. I suspect he was going to harass the birds at the bird feeder!
Today is "finish cleaning out the canned goods shelf"! These are the actual cans of stuff that I buy at the store...not home canning! I finished one shelf Saturday and I promised myself to finish the other one today. Unfortunately, I have a very interesting book started and it keeps hollering at me to get back there and read!
AMY, I hope the guy comes and fixes your garage door so you can use it every time you try!
I have one Dr. appt. this week and it should be a quickie!
Now I better get on my horse and get to work! Or should I put an egg in my boot and beat it? Whatever works best, I guess! I wish you all a good day...bettter than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
Jane ,so far no fellow but maybe this afternoon.
I think I gave Shirley a good chuckle as she was watching over us. I was at the back repotting some angel wings begonias when I heard the sound of a young hen, a pullet. Looking around I saw she was at the neighbobours and not in her pen. She was heading towards the road so I walked a bit ahead to cut her off ,talking to her as I went. She wasn't flighty and just carried on. Over on my neighbours lawn I herded her back to the fence ,trying a couple of times to catch her......no go. When we reached the corner..(yes I had her cornered) I reached ,grabbed her ,she was vocal making the other hens come to the fence but then I lifted her over the top and into her pen. No idea of how she got out. That is my excitement for the day. : )
Not so nice and plesant here, Up in low nineties today and really humid. This has been a trying summer.
Nothing much going on. I bought a new robot vacuum cleaner and I have been giving him a work-out with sweeping up the dust and debris. He is doing a good job.
That's about it for any goings-on around here so I'll say...
Take care, All.
Good morning, 57 and sunny out there today, and the rivers are still flooding in low-lying areas.
Amy, the quake, starting everything, was in the Aleutian Islands, that chain that stretches west out into the Pacific. They're a chain of fourteen large volcanic islands and fifty-five smaller ones. They see a lot of volcanic activity
My thoughts and prayers are with Shirley's family, She had such a gusto for life enjoyed.
May she rest in eternal peace and love again all those that were waiting for her.
Mycheal
It's cool sitting here with the lights dimmed and the A/C on --- but lonely.
RICK, just imagine we're all sitting there with you! Have a cookie!
Good morning..
This may be the day the overhead door gets fixed. Baking needs to be done and not sure what else will be done.
Rick, Jane does have lots of cookies. :)
Making this a quickie as I need to get some groceries before the store become busy.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
If I lived near Jane I would be the Cookie Monster - sneaking in to get at those cookies. Between my son and I, cookies don't stand a chance here.
Good Morning Everyfriend!
RICK, AMY's right! I do have a ton of cookies. When she gave me the recipe, she didn't tell me it served 100 people! If I lived closer to you, you'd find a jar on your front porch in about 15 minutes! Every cup of coffee has cookies with it!
AMY, good luck with the garage door today!
Cathy is going to the store soon and I chose to give her my list and stay home with Cooper. He spent the night. He sure is lovey!
I'm off to get the list and the money ready for Cathy to pick up. Have a great day...anyone who looks in today!
Quote from: JaneS on July 18, 2023, 09:36:46 AMEvery cup of coffee has cookies with it!
As it should be.
We need a picture of Cooper.
We are cookie monsters here, too.....Or cake...Or candy...Or sweet breads...Or coffee cake. And,since I do very little baking I always order something from the grocery store or from Papa Spuds or David will just happen to be near the Donut Shop. I have a sweet tooth and passed it on to David, I'm afraid.
Hot, humid and smokey here today...again. The heat doesn't go away but the Canadian smoke comes and goes. Depends on the direction of the wind.
Doing just normal household chores today and taking it easy. Made a big pitcher of lemonade this morning. That goes well with all the cookies.
Take care, All.
RICK, I'll see what I can do about a picture of Cooper!
 :coffee: :kitten: :tiredtread:
Our family reported that the Taylor Swift Concert was enjoyed by all. They said they were very glad they went and had a wonderful time. The time spent together on Saturday was wonderful. Mama is always happy happy when she has her boys together. Our San Francisco Family made it home safe and sound.
AMY, good to read that Kyle got his haircut by dad and not Lawnmower man👍
PHYLLIS, I would love to have a robot vacuum but we have carpet and hubby does not think it will do a good enough job.....HE is the guy that does this job so I guess he can say that. Sounds like you like yours! It has been a pretty TRYING summer for many places....too much rain and much too high temperatures.
Still reeling from the sad news about Shirley. Sure miss her daily posts about what she is cooking.....fixing at the house and how the kitties are doing😩
Time to get some dinner started....
Have a good evening EVERYFRIEND.
Jenn
I just returned from a building meeting about a senior program called Jumpstart. It's mainly a resource for parttime work, senior university classes and other senior opportunities. It was also about issues such as transportation, cell phones, MedicAlert's and what was available.
The classes interested me as they have a program that offers university classes for seniors by paying their costs without it being deducted by social security. I was also interested in a new type of MedicAlert that you don't have to wear around your neck. It consists of a watch and a cellphone that syncs via a scan code on the back of the watch.
It's similar to mine in that it operates worldwide. If you left it, the cell, in the bedroom and fell, wearing the watch, in the front room, it would pick that up. And you would receive a call.
They also still have two one-bedroom units available in a new state senior housing which sounded nice as it is brand new construction. However, the units each come with a garage, and I don't drive...plus all the moving expenses and drama. The 20th is my delayed eye appointment, and Friday, I have an appointment to discuss transportation and senior housecleaning options.
Suddenly, I' m busy, but I hope to find something suitable.
Hi Jenny,
I read it all and tried to absorb it all. You are all so busy! I'm heading for the haystack. Cooper won't be here tomorrow but I have to be up and about because I have an appointment at the Dr. at 9:30.
I'm almost half way through my book and I understand why this author won a Pulitzer Prize for it! It's absorbing. Hard to stop reading...easy to start!
I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. God bless!
Well, Jane, you are always telling us how you are enjoying a book, but you rarely, if ever, tell us the title or the Author's name. Come on, girlfriend, you know several of us do like to read.
Good Morning Everyfriend! It's cooler here this morning. I'm up and attem and I'm going to take my (lonely without Cooper) walk and then get ready for my Dr. appt.
Sorry, TOMEREADER! I guess you name says how interested you are in books. I got this author's name from the most recent AARP Bulletin. And since I need the large print books, I called the library to see if they had any or this author in large print. They had one and it was one his recent Pulitzer prize ones. They offered to hold it 7 days for pickup but Cathy ran in that day and picked it up. His name is Colson Whitehead and the name of the book I'm reading is "The Underground Railroad". I warn you that once you start, it will be hard to stop until you finish!
I wish Everyfriend a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
Good morning...
I hit the floor running....ok at a fast walk. We went into town to pick up drawer knobs for a chest that Kyle has made .On the way in and back out I looked for the twin fawns that were on a lawn eating. Didn't see them and hope NOT to see them hit on the highway.
Today has many things that need to be done and a lot that are just going to have to wait. Babe doesn't know it yet but she is going to get a bath in the shower. Usually we both come out wet, I think she shakes just as I am going to dry her just to get me back! ;D
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good morning, 63 out there and heading back into the high seventies again. Yesterday afternoon, it was in the early eighties, and we got a cloud burst with hail and the rain bouncing back up after hitting the ground. It cooled down fast and we're back in the clouds again.
Today, is going to be another lazy one as I need to recharge after being out and about yesterday and will be again tomorrow and Friday.
Jane, that sounds interesting about the underground railroad. I may look that one up.
Amy, I've yet to meet a dog that enjoys a bath, perversely they tend to love puddles!.
Patricia, we both came out of the shower wet!! I think she delights in listening to me squeal when she shakes!!
Jane, you have another follower of the rhubarb juice, gave some to the kids and Bri enjoyed it, so did David but he only had one glass full. :2funny:
Sent your recipe on to her.
Would one of you post it in the What's for Dinner forum? Rhubarb grows everywhere very fast here.
Patricia, it is posted now. Makes a nice refreshing drink and I have even put a wee bit of ginger ale in the glass along with the rhubarb juice.
It sounds good to me, heading there now!
I promised myself to read 25 pages of that book every day so I'd be sure to finish it when it was due back at the library. So far, I've read 220 pages in three days and I'm going back and read more before I hit the hay! And I'm going to see if I can find mor of this guys books in large print even if I have to buy them!
Also, I sent pictures of the Cooper-Snoop to Bubble to post in photos. Probably be there tomorrow! There's one of him with me, one with daughter Christy and one with Frankie and a couple of him all alone. I don't know how many of them BUBBLE will post. I just asked her to post what she thought would be interesting.
I'm glad people are interested in trying the rhubarb juice. I'm not a big fan of rhubarb but I do love that juice. I never thought of jacking it up with soda and in my case, it won't be ginger ale. Not my fav. But I bet 7UP would be good!
Enjoy the rest of your day. Have a pleasant night's sleep and wake refreshed! Good Night Shirt (as my Dad used to say to us).
Jane, a childhood favorite of mine, was stewed rhubarb with strawberries and clotted creme.
Yes, Jane, I read "The Underground Railroad" in my f2f book group. It was a good story, and to most looking in here, it is probably not what the title would have you think, but, yes, partially. It was a good discussion book. And sure enough, Tomereader was picked for that reason...I read a lot of book, and lately most of them are tomes as seems everything is 400 plus pages anymore. Glad you are enjoying the Underground Railroad".

Good morning
Another hot one here, will work outside till the heat chases me in.Will water the garden before the heat boils the water. Working around home today and may also get in some sewing.
Jane , loved your photos . You now have David hooked on your friend radishes and now the rhubarb juice. Bri also has some ideas on serving it, on crushed ice making a slushy out of it , freezing it as ice cubes to use with a glass of water. I have no doubt she will be making this .
Patricia, today is your eye exam? Enjoy your day out.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Amy, had a chuckle at you "jumping out of bed and running". I, on the other hand, managed to get out of bed slowly, moaning at times, and shuffle off to the bathroom. ;D
Rhubarb has never been something that I cared for. Just never liked the texture. Probably because when it was cooked for a dessert or pie it was always turned into a gelatinous mess and I did not like the feel. Mother and Dad didn't like it either so we never had it in the house. But, it is supposed to be very healthy. I'll stick to cranberry juice and lemonade or ginger ale.
Jane, I checked my library for The Underground Railroad and it looks interesting. When I finish the three books I have on loan right now I may download the ebook and read it on my computer, or Galaxy pad, or my phone. Loved the pictures. Cooper is a cute little dog and his humans don't look too bad either. ;)
Nice to hear from all who have checked in the last couple of days.
Take care.
Good morning! A wet dreary day out there, and yes, Amy, soon I will be out in it trudging to my doctor's appointment. I hope to finally get the particulars about the operation or procedure to remove any floaters and my cataracts.
Last night was another one of those hit-or-miss nights as I believe I did more tossing and turning than sleeping. I never feel rested after one of those nights and it seems as if I've been that way all month.
Good morning .
I just finished looking at the picture Bubble posted......they are ALL delightful‼️ I wrote on that page so will not comment here again. Just one thing tho....I am very smitten over Cooper. What a cutie and boy can he pose well with his family❣️❣️
We had HORRIBLE thunderstorms starting at 5AM.... and again around 8. VERY loud and VERY close 😩
I watched a bit of The Weather Channel's predictions of what we can expect for the rest of the summer and fall and it is not good. Too much heat and storms. [ My heart aches for the poor people getting flooded out as well as the extreme heat. The Pfizer Pharmaceutical plant hit by a tornado might effect many of us😩
No big plans for the day. It is to be a bit cooler, so I will get out and clean up my flowers and let Smokey Cat have some out door time. He loves it and stays right by me.
Enjoy your day EVERYFRIEND ‼️
Jenn
Janie, :smitten: the pictures (and thank you to Bubble for posting :) ). I can see why you enjoy Cooper; he's so cuddly!!!
Thank you for posting the title of the book you're reading. I looked it up and found it's available in e-book form but don't think I'd enjoy reading about that subject.
I was interested in what Debbie Macomber book you mentioned "a while back". I think I've read all - or most - of hers. Light reading but enjoyable.
Jenny mentioned automatic vacuum cleaners. Son/wife have a Roomba because they both have back issues and have two dogs that shed constantly; it does a good job of picking up the dog hair. They have it set to come on at a certain time and I've been there to see it working. Interesting to watch it bring itself out of its storage "tube", enter the room, go under a piece of furniture, come back out and head in another direction. When it finishes whatever it's set to do it takes itself back to the storage container and shuts itself off.
One comment about Shirley... We began corresponding when she discovered that her favorite grocery store clerk had grown up in the Colorado town where we lived - and my husband had been his basketball coach! She was also interested in Miss Emily going back and forth through the edge of Wichita when she was studying for her doctorate at Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City. I'll miss chatting with her via e-mail and seeing her posts here.
It's been a busy week and Domestic Duties are trying to get my attention!
'Til next time....
Enjoy your day, Everyfriend.
Jenny, you posted while I was typing. Future son-in-law and friends are headed for Denver today for his "Bachelor Weekend"; I saw the weather forecast and hope they don't have to go through "your" storm that's headed for Oklahoma! (Emily's 'Bachelorette Weekend" is next weekend - in Texas!) Simple luncheons are apparently out of style!!!! ::)
Thank you all for the nice comments about my GreatGrandDoggie and my family, too! I thought the pictures were very good, too but it's always nice to know other people do!
AMY, that gigantic batch of cookies I made over your recipe, is going down rather quickly. Unfortunately, most of them are going down my throat! Well, maybe that's not so bad. The Dr. told me I need to gain a little weight. Maybe that'll do it!
Today was a rather busy one but I'm not 100% sure I know what got done. I was busy all day and only took out about an hour to read my book and another one to play on the computer!
Now I'm ready for the haystack! I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. God Bless!
Good morning.
Looks as though we had a rain during the night. If we had a storm I slept right through it. Checking on cucumbers at the market this morning, for the amount I use I can't grow them.Friend gave me a recipe for her icicle pickles and I want to try it plus the mustard bread and butter pickle .Can't forget Kyles dill pickles :P as long as he eats them I will make them.
Watching the birds at the buffet is interesting, first Crow and their family ,then the Thrushes and their family and now the Blue Jays and their babies.
Callie, when we were working (carpenter work) I also had a robo vacuum and it was great! We had two dogs and this one was for pet hair ,eventually it did give up the ghost. I didn't replace it but have thought about it.
Jane, I need to bake cookies, I made a brownie and some of that may go it a bowl with chocolate pudding, cherry pie filling and top off with whipped cream for a dessert.
Patricia, hope your appointment went well.
Jenny, son is off to Arizona this week and I do hope the weather behaves and his air conditioning in the truck!
Better get going.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning Everyfriend! Especially to you, AMY, since you've already put in an "appearance"!
I've been up since about 5:45, had my breakfast, met Cooper at the car, got a hug from Frankie, fed Cooper, went for a walk and pulled weeds in the garden! Now it's time for a break!
Frankie starts her vacation tomorrow and I'm considering asking her if she just wants to leave Cooper overnight here so she can get herself ready to leave in the morning! I think it would be good for all of us
The temperature is at 70 degrees right now and heading for a high of 84 and cloudy most of the day. This sure isn't the usual July for this area. July is when we usually don't cut the grass and we water the plants every night. This year, so far, the grass has been cut weekly and I haven't had to drag out the hose more than once! I wonder what August will bring?
I wish Everyfriend a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow
Good morning, we're back to sunny skies after way too much rain.
Amy, I wouldn't say my appointment went well, lots of time having various machines flashing bright lights into my dilated eyes, since the previous doctor took his records with him. Then being told I'm being referred to another doctor for my cataracts.
Jane, that sounds like a win win win for you Frankie and the Cooper!!
Patricia, hope you soon get a date for the surgery for your eyes.
Just heard that Tony Bennett passed :(
Love his singing...gone is another great one..
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLjXbkSm8B4
I think most of us in this generation have been Tony Bennett fans! I know I am! I have CDs and records and I'm one who has actually seen him in person. I'm not sure where it was but I'm thinking Las Vegas. We went there on a group trip with the company that supplied the TVs that we sold in our store. I can remember the show....just not exactly where it was!
He was GREAT!
Amy, that referral could take two to four weeks, so I am not very happy with them!
Our weather is taking another turn after all the continuous rain;
..Very Hot Weekend Over The Eastern Interior... ...High Water On The Tanana River Into Next Week...
The Eastern Interior will become warmer and drier over the weekend with isolated afternoon thunderstorms. Temperatures will rise into the 80s over most of the Eastern Interior on Saturday, and into the 80s and low 90s on Sunday and Monday. Fairbanks is expected to reach 90 on Sunday and Monday. Similar hot and dry conditions with isolated afternoon thunderstorms will likely continue over the Eastern Interior into the middle of next week. There will likely be a return of smoke from Canadian wild fires over the Eastern Interior this weekend. People should take precautions for heat this weekend.
The Tanana River is near bankfull, and will remain very high into next week. This high water is due to rising freezing levels adding high elevation snow and glacial melt this weekend into next week. Other glacial rivers draining the Alaska Range such as the Delta and Nenana Rivers will also remain very high into next week. Most gravel bars on the Tanana River will be covered by water, and some normally dry sloughs and other low lying areas will fill with water. Low areas around boat launches could see water in them. These glacial rivers will contain an increased numbers of logs and trees floating down them through next week and boaters should use caution.
Jane, I had records that would be played over and over and I would sing along with him. His music will live on..
Patricia, let's hope they do get you in sooner. They may have a cancellationand can fit you in sooner.
Well, the Cooper-Snoop went home with his mom. She said she needs to have his company tonight and tomorrow morning because she gonna miss him for a week! He'll be back tomorrow around noon and then she'll be off on her trip! My suitcase is going along. I bet it'll have stories to tell when it gets back!
I got a lot done today including several chapters of my book. I only have about 25 pages left to finish it and my plan is to do that before Cooper arrives tomorrow.
My only other plan for tomorrow is more weeding! Not my favorite job!
Patricia, I wish you well with your eye work. I'll be doing something similar next month! Not cataracts by removal of some "fuzziness" on the eyeball. It's a new process and I forget what they call it!
I'm heading for the haystack when I finish here! I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. God bless!
Good Morning to myself and anyone else who dares to show face in the Soda Shoppe!
Good morning...
Beautiful morning here..bit cooler starting at 53° and sunny. Laundry day after we get back from getting some groceries.
Will see if the beets are big enough to pull and will have some for supper tonight.
Enjoy your day and stay safe..
Good morning, 7:09 here and its bright and sunny out there.
Well, there were 3 of us here today. Not many dishes to clean up and still lots of cookies left in the cookie keeper!
I'm heading for the haystack with my cuddle up doggie in a few minutes. Sleep well and PLEASE come back in the morning. I miss everyfriend!
Good night Jane, I too am heading shortly to bed. Been a long day with a lot accomplished.
Good night, sweet dreams...
I was here. In and out - left no fingerprints (but did take a couple of cookies).
Jane S..
sleep well my friend, you might notice your cookie jar is a little more emptier, i also helped myself to one, ok, maybe two ;) thank you for leaving the jar out..
Well, what a pleasant surprise to get up early and see all the traces of overnight visitors....and the dip in the number of cookies!
I have to be moving this morning because Cathy is picking me up at 9:45 and dropping me off at church. She doesn't need to bring me home because there are at least 4 or 5 people who will do that. But I need to take Cooper for his first walk and then get a shower and get dressed. It's going to be a good day!
Right now it's 63 degrees out there and heading for daytime high of 87 by late afternoon! I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
Good morning..
Another lovely day in the making here. We are going to visit friends this morning to see their new home in the making. This has been a long labour of work and frustration for them. Workers that don't take pride in their work, or just show up do a bit and move on to another job. Slowly it is coming together. I wish we were still in the trade ,when we started a job we stayed until it was done. Plus Kyle is fussy,it is either done right or not at all. Our friends Dad was a carpentry teacher so he knows what to look for and expect.
Jane, it is now 50° heading to 78° .David, last I heard was in NM and I am sure it is much hotter there.
Patricia, this has been the worst year for weather from coast to coast. The east coast here is now dealing with major flooding. BC is still dealing with forest fires. Never ending catastrophes.
Rick, Kyle is also a cookie monster grabbing 2-3 or 4 but not all for him. Furkids can hear him break a cookie and they are right there to help him eat them.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
This is SATURDAYS post.... Not sure why it did not post‼️
Good morning EVERYFRIEND‼️
Things look bright and fresh after ANOTHER big rain again. Thankfully it did not include hail at our house but the hard rain took a toll once again on my plants. These recent storms sure have been detrimental to trees and plants. The peaches, corn and melons that are famous in our state have been delayed or totally ruined😩😩
Day before yesterday a EF1 tornado hit PIKES PEAK and took down many trees‼️ AND they say tornados do not come this close to the mountains🤷
CALLIE a tornado even hit Leadville a few years back, you might remember? I do hope your families bachelor party was not an issue while they are here in Denver.
PATRICIA, I am sad that your eye appointment did not progress as you had hoped it would. It seems all we do these days is WAIT😩 The flooding is much to common these days. I hope the report you shared about this in your area will not be too bad.
AMY, I, too hope David's A/C will work well for him as he heads to the desert. It has been record breaking temps down there and will continue I have read. This weather has just been CRAZY all over the place. I would love to know his route he will take to get there. That is one LONG drive for him‼️
I was sad to hear of Tony Bennett's passing. He was one of the greatest singers ever and will always be remembered 🙏 Thank you for sharing the video, Amy. I listened to him sing most of his songs all day yesterday. I listen to him at least once a week as 'I have always loved him.
JANE, I can certainly understand that Frankie wanted to have her Cooper around as long as possible before she left on her vacation. Weed pulling is HOT my favorite job either😩😡
I had a conversation with a friend last week regarding how many famous singers we have seen in person and it was shocking. Tony is one of my very favorite ones and I am glad you got to see him in Vegas SOMEWHERE ❣️
I wish you ALL a good weekend.
Jenn
Good morning; we are having smoky clouds with sun and are at our present low of 65 and heading into the low nineties and possible thundershowers with hail this afternoon.
Special Weather Statement issued July 22 at 3:25PM AKDT by NWS Fairbanks
...Very Hot Over The Eastern Interior Through Monday...
...High Water On The Tanana River Into Next Week...
The Eastern Interior will become very hot this weekend with isolated afternoon thunderstorms. Temperatures are in the 80s over most of the Eastern Interior today, and will rise into the 80s and low 90s on Sunday and Monday. Fairbanks is expected to reach 90 on Sunday and Monday. Similar hot conditions with isolated afternoon thunderstorms will likely continue over the Eastern Interior into the middle of next week. People should take precautions against heat this weekend.
The Tanana River is near bankfull, and will remain very high through next week. These glacial rivers will contain an increased numbers of logs and trees floating down them through next week and boaters should use caution. The sustained high water could cause erosion problems along the Tanana, Delta and Nenena Rivers through next week.
Thunderstorms today and Sunday could contain hail and winds gusting to 30 mph. Strong thunderstorms with heavy rainfall are possible Monday and Tuesday which could cause flash flooding in steep terrain of the Alaska and Brooks Ranges, and flooding if they occur over the already bankfull glacial rivers in the Tanana Valley.
Well, this was one of those days that did itself! I made no plans except for how to get to church on time! The rest of what happened....just happened! But it was all good and I feel like the day went well!
Now I'm off to the haystack! I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. God bless!
Someone ate all the coolies. None left - so may as well go to bed.
Goodnight all.
Rick...
...not guilty, it wasn't me..Good night - Good morning Rick and Jane when you both arrive...
I'm up and we both (Cooper and I) have had breakfast. He's ready for his first walk of the day and I have to go get dressed so I can accommodate his wishes!
I think it's going to be a nice day around her...maybe a bit hot for part of the time. Right now is a good time for a walk outside. It's 66 degrees! Have a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
I put some more cookies in the jar! And I swept up the crumbs!
Jane S...
...that is very kind of you :eat:
Good morning..
Another day that the a/c is getting a good work out.
Yesterday all I could say was WOW as we drove into their place. Blossoms of flower brighly waving in the gentle breeze, every colour imaginable greeting you!! I am going back on Thur I hope to take photos to share with you.Lilys of every colour ,some he had developes in cross breeding, some double some with ruffles on the edge of the petales. He doesn't have a green thumb , he has a green body!
Today we are working outside as long as we can ,cutting down /off trees and branches. They are getting out of hand and since we couldn't take any leaves/limbs etc due to the fire ban the job had to wait.
Patricia, Jane and I have dibs on that house!! She also loved it.
Enjoy your day and stay safe..
Good morning its hazy today with some BC smoke but otherwise no clouds and 71 for a low today. We're going to reach 90 today as we did yesterday but none of the promise of hail and thundershowers.
I'm glad that you and Jane liked the house. I presently have real estate emails and YouTube videos from around the world, Canada and the US as well as state and local. I come by it honestly as my mother loved to visit new local real estate, travel trailers and mobile homes. It all came in handy when they built a large four room cabin on land, they purchased on the Salcha river sixteen miles from the bridge and when they bought a new house in town.
My sister also has it as she is presently rehabbing a house she bought in Coeur de Lene.
It's a nice interest or hobby that also brings you dividends in your own life.
Goodness , I was going to say it is too hot outside but son just called and he started out at 39C or 102° way too hot for me. We took two loads of brush away with more to go at a later date. This week the temp is to go higher and I am not working out in it. We are to get some tstorms later on today, not looking forward to that.Poor Babe doesn't like them either but the storms don't seem to bother Jesse..yet.
Patericia, that cozy cabin is far enough in the woods yet close enough to a neighbour if one needs help. I would enjoy being out in the woods like that. Hope there is a stream close by to catch breakfast. :)
In this area, that isn't an issue as we are inundated with rivers. Five rivers are in or close to the city, and two others are nearby.
They forecast T-storms with hail for yesterday and today but no sign presently.
I'm thinking that moving to that house might be just an "in mind" thing! I think I'm a bit past the point of moving that far and not having a car! But it's nice to dream!
I did a bit of cleaning today and I'm hoping to finish it tomorrow. I was out and watered the plants because the weather report was not saying rain. I was back in the house and just sitting down on the sofa when I heard thunder. Now where did that come from? It didn't last long and probably wasn't enough to really give the maters a drink so I'm not dwelling on that one!
Now I'm heading for the haystack! I think the Cooper-Snoop already went there. If he did, it will be his third time tonight. He goes and stays a while and if I don't join him he comes looking for me. I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. God bless!
Good morning..
We also had the thunder, soft rumblings and rain. Just enouh to water the plants and let me out of a job. We managed to get two loads of brush taken to the dump in between rain falls. There is still more work to be done but it will wait a bit till the back says it is a go.
Today is catch up what didn't get done in the house from yesterday...doesn't that just tickle ones tootsies!
Will deal with an ear infection on the pup....he isn't going to like that but it will be done.
Jane, yes "in a mindthing" I shudder to think of all the "things" I have acquired over the years . Just in my quilting will make one stop and think but that was a beautiful home!
Jenny, hope you can stay cool in this nasty heat!
Better get a wiggle on and get at it.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
I'm up and attem this morning! Cooper does that to me. He's ready for his breakfast when his feet hit the floor and as soon as he cleans the plate, he's ready for a walk. He's my "get moving" item this week!
And Cathy's my second "get moving" person this week. She's heading for the Amish grocery store later this morning and she wanted to know if she should shop for me or take me along. I'm going along...with my list!
And when I finish here, I'm heading for the showers so I'm ready when she texts that she's on the way!
When I get back from there, I might see if the sweeper wants to move from where it is and do a little more work! Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't! It really has a mind of it's own! I think before I get dressed, I'll throw some chicken in the crock pot and then try to decide what to add to it.....soup or a crock pot casserole! Any ideas?
I'm off to see what calls first! I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
Good morning, well, we didn't get the rain as it moved north of us, but our temperatures did drop ten degrees. I don't expect to see ninety again this summer as August is normally full of rain and cooling temperatures. I don't have much to report as my week is filled with domestic duties and dreaming through the world of real estate.
Last night I went from an Australian outback farm to a French estate to an English luxury townhouse in Chelsea. Just an FYI, France is having a run-on castles and estates while Italy is showing country homes from hundreds of years ago for the discerning rehabber.
Our local meets and greets is still growing strong. We did lose one who's moving into a care home and one who's moving south to her sons in Washington. Claire has given in and is selling her farm, animals, and mineral rights as she has decided it's no longer possible for her to do the work she's done in the past. Times are changing and not as many of us would like.
Nobody into the Shop for a snack before calling it a day? Do I have to eat all those cookies myself? --- A tough job, but I can handle it.
Rick..
..you missed one, but dont worry, i found it
Good morning
Overcast with the threat of rain later today. We are offto the city to drop off items for friends. one will use the fabric etc for either toys for the humane society or she also makes curtains for the cat cages. The othe is applique patterns two big bags of them for another friend. We won't daly as the dogs will remain home on this trip. Temp is going to hug the 90's too hot for them to go.
Jane, a half bushel of cukes is $45.00 for dill size and $40.00 for #3's prices are climbing here!!
Patricia,we have been threatened with t storms but nothing really happens thank goodness! The rain is welcomed but no need of the accompanying music and light show! We were talking to a friend yesterday that said he was cutting bacck on work, age being the main reason. Time to let the younger ones step up . Claire will miss her home and animals but better to sell while she has a say in it.
Rick, bless you for stepping up, you're a man of action.
Better get my city duds on..
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning Everyfriend! I refilled the cookie jar. This time it's full of chocolate chip cookies. Help yourselves!
I've had a busy morning so far...
Got up and made breakfast for Cooper and me:
Took Cooper for a LONG walk;
Put away the dishes in the dishwasher;
Made the bed and straightened up the bedroom
Cleaned up the kitchen;
Divided and packed two previously made dinner (now I have four lunches or suppers
I'm sure there were other odds and ends but they've skipped my mind! When I finish here I'm heading for the shower. I'm going out to lunch today with my friends and previous co-workers from PA House! and when I come home from there it will be time for another walk with Cooper and then I plan to collapse!
I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
Good morning, another sunny but hazy day! The trouble with high heat in a dry climate with low or nonexistent humidity is that you don't sweat but bake. Many people are escaping to the lakes to cool off as the rivers are too dangerous presently, and the hot springs tend to defeat the purpose.
The sounds and sights of construction are everywhere as the city is amid its 10-year urban renewal that began in 2015. Last year they finished one new bridge, dredged the Chena River at two landings, and widened the sidewalks creating more new bike paths and cross walks so you can walk or ride uninterrupted for several miles not only to and from the University on a ridge but to North Pole as well without interruption.
The previous year was new telephone and electricity poles and working on new sidewalks and street painting in the University West area. I'm not sure what this year's project aim is, but several inner-city streets are closed off and dug up. I wonder what we will look like in 2025. And yes, it seems odd still to write that date.
Last year several folks moved away or into town, Amy, after that disastrous winter. We lost Alan and Dora to care, and it was definitely the end of an era, and Claire was the only holdout, but she finally gave up. I believe everyone is feeling sad and a bit lost this summer. The get-togethers and shopping with lunch have dwindled, which is why the meets and greets have become an important daily ritual.
Back from the city and enjoying the peace and quiet!
Exchanged items with my friend, thought it was only going to be a one way exchange but she gave me fabric and templates for a challange quilt.
We grabbed lunch on the go and stopped at Micky D's for ice cream and gave that a good licking on the way home.
Jane, my favorite cookie, will grab a tall glass of cold milk and enjoy 1-2 or? :) Enjoy your luncheon out.
Patricia, times have changed and not necessarily for the better but we do adapt. Nice to have your friends for the meet and great. You can catch up on what everyone is doing. We just came from a city that has two seasons, winter and construction.
Saw on the news few minutes ago that one of those giant cranes (construction type) caught fire, collapsed in New York City, on one of the main thorofares. Six people injured, no fatalities. It was atop a huge building under construction. Was lifting several tons of concrete.
Amy, what are challenge quilts or steps needed for one? This city could adopt that motto as well. I believe something similar is being sold as a bumper sticker. I'll have to check and see if I can get a photo. Ice cream sounds wonderful, but on my naughty list, so I'd have to settle for a popsicle instead.
Joanne, not good, and I believe that's not the first time one has fallen if I remember.
I have lost my voice. Very disconcerting. Just woke up this morning really hoarse and now my voice is almost gone. I'm sure that David is feeling relieved at not having me chattering away at him when he is trying to read. :D
BTW, I can add chocolate to the hidey hole, if anyone is interested. I got some very tasty toffee made by a small candy maker in Chapel Hill. Delivered to me by PAPA Spuds yesterday.
Really hot and humid here today. I am hugging the AC.
Yes, Patricia, that has happened before. Heavy ice storm and very high winds have caused it in the past.
Take care, All.
Patricia, this is a pattern and shapes I am not familiar with. She gave me two sets of templates for one ,different sizes for each quilt and another template that boggles my mind to put together!! Will see what I can do.
Phyllis, hope you do get your voice back.Thank you for the chocolate :smitten:
I'm heading for the haystack a bit early tonight. I'm tired all the way down to the tips of my toes and all the way up to the top of my head! It was a good day and I got a lot done and had a good time with dear friends over lunch!
I wish you all a pleasant night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. God bless!
Forgot to say "Thanks for the chocolate!" It's my downfall! I love it!
Good morning..
Beautiful morning here, rain started around 2 am and it is still raining. No need to water the plants today.
Kyle has a chiropractor appointmenet and then home for Callies DD's. I was going to go take photos of the flowrs at friends but not today.
Talked with David who was just going through Matthew MO and saw that he was south of Lloyd! I get to see a lot of the US through his trips. :)
Jane, you had a full day of it yesterday! What would we all do without our family and friends?
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning! Cooper's at my elbow telling me it's time for our first walk of the day! And he's right! I like to get it in before the heat sets in. Right now it's 74 degrees but it's heading for a high of 90 for the day. And it's supposed to reach mid 80s by the middle of the day!
AMY, too bad David can't check up on LLOYD. I've been wondering about him and if he's doing OK. DAVID sure does get around, doesn't he?
OK, I just finished my coffee. I'm off to get dressed and then take a walk. I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
Jane, it is all I can do to keep up to him!!! David will be home Fri then head out again on Sun.
I have Lloyds old phone number, not sure if he uses that or a new one now.
Quote from: Amy on July 27, 2023, 11:11:55 AMI have Lloyds old phone number, not sure if he uses that or a new one now.
I have a number for Lloyd, and one for his Grand daughter. I'm not a good caller Amy, so if you need what I have I can Email it to you. Or PM it. I will NOT post it.
My son just left to pick up this week's grocery order. The shopper does
a good job of picking what I order and David brings it home. All I have to do is put the items away.
Supposed to go up to 96 deg. today. You all know where I'll be.
Take care,All.
Rick ,thank you. PM or email and I will give them a call. I just hope they are both ok in this heat!
Amy - Check your PMs. I don't have your Email. I don't think.
Good morning, the weather is smoky and warm. Yesterday, we got into the late eighties, not sure of what today will bring as we've seen none of the rain or storms forecasted. August is nominally our wetter and cools down into autumn month.
Nothing new to report here. I've slacked off doing more than the basic chores and procrastinated on several projects. I need a compelling reason to kickstart several projects, and I'm simply not feeling it
Rick, got it and replied......thank you
Patricia, my morning was shot, then friends dropped in for a visit and dust kangaroos seemed to have multiplied so I chased and corralled them. Made a macaroni salad to go with fresh corn for supper tonight and poof went my ambition??
UPDATE ON LLOYD..
Talked with Lloyd for a second and then he handed me over to Nancy..he doesn't hear that well on the phone. Both are fine, just the internet isn't working proper. Told them we miss them.
Amy, I'm glad you were able to connect with Lloyd.
Your ambition may have gone the same way mine has, to the doldrums.
It's hot and smoky out there and hard to sleep at night. And they're still predicting more floods and more thundershowers so if it ever comes to fruition, it will be a doozy!
"The high water will cause elevated groundwater along the Tanana River with adjacent sloughs and ponds filling with water. The Tanana River at Fairbanks is near minor flood stage and is expected to fluctuate around this level for the next several days.
The Rosie Creek subdivision near Fairbanks may see ponding of water over some roads as groundwater rises to the surface.
Heavy rain from thunderstorms over the Interior the next few days will also cause rapid rises on some small streams and rivers, especially the storms that form over steep terrain." per the weather service.
Personally, I think those storms will pass east of us.
Well, even Cooper knew it was hot out there today! He was begging for a walk right after I finished my lunch and that's usually when we come back with the mail. But he didn't really want to stay out there very long when we went. And I'm thankful for that because I was sweating like crazy when we got back.
AMY and RICK, thanks for getting together and getting in touch with LLOYD. I'm glad to hear they are both OK and it's the computer that's sick!
PATRICIA, I'm in that "forget it" stage too! I think of something that I should be doing and I just tell myself "forget it". And then I add, "It'll wait". And it always does!
Now I'm heading for the haystack. Cooper has already gone there. He followed me in when I went for my jammies and he stayed!
I wish you all a pleasant night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. God bless!
Good morning..
Starting out at 62°,nice, will take that!
Into town to pick up Kyles meds then home to see what needs to be done first. Will pull a few beets for supper if they are ready, the corn we had yesterday was delicious and I would buy more before the sale goes off.
Better put an egg in my boot and get ready.. (I slept in.)
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning, AMY and anyone who shows up later! Cooper and I have had our walk in and it was already 74 degrees at 7 a.m. Gonna be a HOT one today! The high is predicted at 94! I sure hope he doesn't plan to stay out too long on his midday walk! I think I might have something to say about that.
I already have the A/C turned on and I'm not a fan of A/C. I didn't grow up with them and I get cold before anyone else does!
Gotta finish some jobs today. We went to Davy's country store yesterday but they didn't have what I wanted for canning so Cathy said we'll hit the Farmers' Market on Wednesday! That means next week will be busy. I'm almost out of beet relish and that's my plan for next week. And if corn is starting to come in, I'll get some to freeze. Around here, the saying for corn is "knee high by the fourth of July" and it was! So it should be starting to come in soon! I think DAVY's had the first of it yesterday but not very much!
And Frankie might be home on Saturday but she said if she is, it will be late and she'll pick up the Cooper-Snoop on Sunday morning! So we have to enjoy the next couple of days!
I hope you all have a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
Good late morning from the Interior where the skies have gone from hazy to smoky, as some new interior fires from lightning strikes are competing with BC's smoke. However, due to recent rains, those fires are burning the top but not the bottom layers so aren't going as far or as fast.
Network newscasters are making a big deal about Alaska's interior having ninety-degree temperatures as if it's a big deal and a sign of climate change. As our local weathermen say, we've hit streaks of ninety degrees thru the low hundreds before especially during our twelve-year drought.
There are more relevant signs of climate change that doesn't make the national news such as less sea ice and more polar bear miscarriages are forcing the polar bears into grizzly territory, causing half breeds of the two most dangerous bears combined while pure polar bears' decline. A lot of Alaskan sea life is suffering due to plastic pollution, warmer waters and loss of habitat.
That being said, while the warmer temperatures are just that and yes in a drier climate, you bake, however August will bring the rains and temperatures will rapidly cool as summer ends and September ushers in Autumn. It's the winter that I'm not looking forward to.
Amy and Jane you're both shifting into preservation mode and planning what to bottle, can or freeze. I'm still in the doldrums however the meet and greets want to plan an August picnic which in the past would have been at a riverbank or lakeside but now a picnic at a local park or someone's backyard.
Here they're promoting the senior day at the yearly state fair where entrance is free for those over 65 for the day and they serve a free senior lunch often unfortunately with an Elvis impersonator. To me they seem to come across as swarmy. Plus, spending time strolling the grounds, buying overpriced items you don't want or need no longer appeals to me nor being hung upside down and wrung out by some thrill ride.
In the past, we usually skipped the fair for an hour or two at the afore mentioned riverside or lake. These are now suffering high water, sweepers and erosion and people are asked to be extremely careful around them. This year we've talked about driving to Big Delta or Delta Junction to cruise the farmstands. We're see if any idea catches on.
Well, I dragged out the hose and watered all my plants and then Cooper and I took a short walk. I came in and changed into my jammies and sat down to watch a Perry Mason show before getting ready to hit the haystack. The TV was on and I watched for 15 minutes and then it went off....because of the thunderstorm that crept up on us! It was not announced, advertised, warned or expected! But there it was! And I wouldn't have had to wear myself out watering the plants! What do you think of that?
Now I'm ready to crawl into the haystack! And the plants sure aren't thirsty!
I had a pretty good day today. Got lots done but as usual, none of it shows and I can't brag about any of it but it's done!
I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow! God Bless!
Good morning.
Woke to 60° and it is to be a cooler day than what we have had in the past..no fry weather.
I tried a new recipe last night for supper and it was good! Stuffed zuchinni, will do this again but with a smaller zuchinni.
Work around home ,laundry day and may bake. I want to go to friends to see if I can get some photos of their flowers either today or tomorrow.
Jane, we were to get rain and storms but didn't, which is fine other than I would have liked the rain. I did water the tomatoes ,cucumbers and squashes out of the rain barrel.
Patricia, that is two of the most dangerous bears to breed!! There are perks at being a senior which is nice. Your meet and greet picnic sounds fun. Always fun to get together with friends , enjoy good food and good company all at once. Then you know what comes after that winter so get out and enojy while you can.
Better get going..
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
)
Good Morning Everyfriend! All the morning stuff is done...Cooper and I both had breakfast; Cooper had his walk (so did I); I refilled the humidifier; got my BOOST ready to drink: cleaned up the breakfast dishes; made the bed; let Cooper out in the yard to finish his outies (he always has to be out in the yard for a while after we get back from our walk).
Now I'm ready for the computer!
PATRICIA, have a good time with your friends and eat some good stuff! Get the news!
I wish Everyfriend (even the ones who don't visit us and post here anymore) a good day....better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
PATRICIA and AMY, do you think they don't come in here because we're boring?
Good Evening Everyone!
I am so sorry to hear that Shirley passed,
and it was quite a while ago.
She will be missed.
We have had good weather here on the
rocky coast of Maine. It helps
being right next to the atlantic here
in Portland Maine.
I stay in unless I have an appointment and
have to go out ..
All is well here with August being right
around the corner. Time passes
so fast it seems the older I get
the quicker it goes by.
Have a good week, everyone.
Sandy
:wave2:
I just stopped by to say "Good Night" but first I have to say ...
Hello, Sandy! It was so nice to see you stop by! Come back again soon!
I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. God Bless!
Good Night and Good Morning!
Good morning...
What an awesome day!! Had windows open to let the cool air in last night. Not sure what the day will bring but know it won't be a lot of heat.
Loon call at 2 am pierced the silence of the night with another one answering him. Love the sounds echoing over the lake. All too soon they will be flying south.
Sandy ,good to hear all is well with you.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good morning, another day of sunny smoke. Amy, I wish we had our past back with animals ambling through town and the birds everywhere. I haven't seen a small bird since they cut all the trees down on this side of the property and I haven't been by any of the rivers or other waterways in a couple of years. It's even longer since I've been by the wildlife sanctuary. There's too many people and cars and construction.
I know the animals are there, it's said that the city has a resident population of 200 moose, plus, hares, beavers and other small creatures, but you no longer see them in the town center. I remember the day a porcupine lost its way and strolled down Third Avenue. And I remember not only hearing the loons but often seeing them as well. And the swans, ducks, geese and other birds.
I walked to and from work for years, mainly using the fenced off, paved bicycle paths and have many memories of wildlife encounters. Sometimes we would have big picnics and barbeques at someone's house out in the yards, one of the hot springs, rivers or lakes. And the animals were right there. Now we've grown too large. And I no longer wander through the trees.
The chocolate chip cookies on the counter in the Soda Shoppe are going to get moldy if they don't get eaten!
Jane, you had better look again. No chocolate chip cookie will EVER go moldy with me! :2funny:
I think Amy got the last of them. No crumbs left either.
Darn! Always too late for the goodies! ???
Well, I see the cookies are all gone but they've been sitting around in there for almost a week untouched. At least they're not going to get moldy~
You snooze, you lose :2funny:
Jane makes delicious cookies!! I will put some ginger snaps in the hidey hole to snack on , these are David's favourite cookies.
Now I don't feel so bad Jane, let them have them, I won't complain. I'll just mosey over to Amy's hidey hole.
I ate 2 ginger snaps on my way through but don't try to check my pockets!
Good night all. I wish you a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow...God bless!
I only took one. Goodnight all.
Good Morning Everyfriend! I've had my breakfast so I'm avoiding the cookies....for now! Help yourselves!
:hb3: :hb3: Patricia :hb3: :hb3:
:hb2: :hb2: Enjoy your birthday today.. :hb2: :hb2:

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

I tell no secrets.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PATRICIA! ENJOY THIS ONE AND ALL THE ONES THAT FOLLOW!!! :cheer: :nanadance:
Hi there to anyone who pops in! I have two eye Dr. appointments this week. They kind of crept up on me but there they are. I'm having a new kind of "in-out" surgery on my eyes and I'll have patches. I don't know what that will do to my computer skills so I might not be in for the rest of the week! And I don't really know when I might be back because this is a new kind of surgery. We're all hoping that it improves my sight but you never know! Wish me well! And you all take care!
Jane and Amy, Thank you both for the birthday wishes!
Jane, I'll keep you in my thoughts through this week and next, but I'm sure you'll be fine with all your family with you.
Patricia, you're welcome..
Jane, will give you a call to see how you are making out after surgery..just take care and do what they say. My friend wrote out a schedule on when and what drops to put in before and after her surgery.
I'm off to the haystack! Tomorrow will be a busy day! Cooper will be here and my Maryland Daughter (Cooper Grammy) will be arriving to be my second pair of hands while my eye is covered this time! I don't know if I'll have time to say "Good Morning so just know that I'm thinking of all of you!
I wish you a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow! God bless!
Happy Birthday, Patricia.
Good Luck with your eye procedures, Jane. Thinking good thoughts for you!
