Sorry  you aren't feeling well, Amy.  I hope you get well soon.

It has been chilly and rainy here the last couple of days.  I decided to make a frittata and it has taken me forever to cut up some vegetables and get the eggs, etc. ready to put together and in the oven.  I just am not very good trying to do cooking from a wheelchair.  It takes me forever and wears me out.  It better be as good as I am wanting it to be ......it is probably the last one I'll make.  Too much work!  ::)

Time to hit the sack tonight.  I hope you all had a good day

PHYLLIS, I'm wondering how your frittata turned out!  I made an egg casserole today.  I don't really know what to call it because I just put stuff together and popped it in the oven.  It has tater tots that I put in the chopper and chopped into small pieces and then put some cheese and bacon on top of it and poured beaten eggs and chopped cheese on top with the last of the chopped up tater tots and bacon on that.  I guess you could call it "Jane's Breakfast Stuff".  Anyway, I like it and that's all that matters.

Daughter Christy is coming up from Maryland tomorrow to spend a few days.  Frankie is her daughter so for a while we'll be a three generation family together!

PATRICIA, Cooper does not go shopping with us.  If he did, he'd have to sit in the car and wait and I don't think he'd like that.  Wenger's is a grocery store and no dogs allowed!  But he doesn't seem to mind staying at my house.  He's as much at home here as he is "at home".  And he knows he's loved here!

AMY, I hope you are feeling better today and even better tomorrow!  However, you deserve a couple days off!  You need to take care of YOU!

Guess I better get headed for the haystack.  Morning comes early on the days Frankie works!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  Drop by and share your day with us!

Good morning...

Chilly but sunny day..Furkids have been fed and taken out. Geese flying overhead..not many. Mourning dove is back and still no sign of Drop Wing.

Another day of doing nothing......seems one foot ahead of the other is a hard job but this too shall pass.

Phyllis, thank you. How did your frittata turn out. If you made it again could you use chopped frozen veggies?

Jane, have fun with Christy's visit!!

Patricia, you added a new term  hold off along with our  maybe, some day and think about it.

Rick, did you get much rain? Is your grass looking green or still in the dormant stage. All too soon we will have the joob of cutting grass.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

The rain is gone and the sun is up and bright. Looks like a couple of days of sun but the rain to come back on Monday.
The "wild life" is picking up, with my "friends" from last year back - Robin, cardinals, wood pecker, doves, blue jays, and smallest but many - sparrows.
As far as the grass - still not green, except the few clumps of onion grass - that will be tended too.

Rick, I had to look up "onion grass" Wow, do you eat it? Sounds similar to chives only better! Must look to see if we have any here.
We do have wild leeks which are tasty..a few years ago folks that bought a trug gave us some and I planted half..the rest we ate. So far each year they have come up and this year I can pick some.

I don't eat onion grass. I do have some chives that come up every year, in a controlled area.
The onion grass pops up randomly on the lawn in clumps. It grows faster than the grass, doesn't look good, and smells of onion when the lawn is cut. Fairly strong smell. Considered a weed around here.

Morning, everyone!

I've been dreading the day Oscar incurs something serious. I took him to the vet, just to be safe, after a few weeks of him howling around 3-3:30am every day, and a few lesser howls on a few days. He and Shan have been looking to knock things off shelves and table tops. I expected that it was a delayed behavioral thing because of the move. What I got, is 1.) the possibility that he is losing his hearing, and 2.) The Biggy: his liver level is abnormal, not badly, but still... Since it is not far off, the vet is hesitant to send him for an "not pleasant" ultrasound. For now, I decided to wait until his regular annual check-up in October to get another test result to see if it has progressed. I was looking up info on liver disease in cats and discovered quite a few liver related ailments, and many are common. So, off I went to see if I could find cat food for liver problems. Guess what! There are precious few. Royal Canin has a dry food only offering, and Purina has a special formula, but it is sold only in Europe. So, I am off to find the closest regular cat food with high protein, high carb, very low copper wet food. The low cooper is very important. The dry food offerings use mostly grains, pork protein, chicken to a lessor degree. The important thing for Oscar is to keep his weight up (he has lost more weight), and keep copper levels down. Oscar likes fresh chicken and pork, so I will continue to give him some when I make it.

Meanwhile, I am still waiting to hear from the oral surgeon's office. They still haven't got back to me even after I called last week to check on same. How odd!

Other projects, go to the tax office in Enola on Monday. I have yet to receive my first local tax bill for the house property. I left a message on the phone, but haven't heard back from them either. My broker sent me paperwork to review and sign. I will be doing that over the weekend. Make an appointment to get new front brake pads, and go get my hair cut, very soon.

Leeks! National emblem of Wales, along with Daffodils, aka:  "Peter's leek". Cenhinen Bedr in Welsh. Both are often worn on St. David's Day (March 6).

It is a sunny day here, but it will be some time before we see temps get above 60o.

MarsGal - Keep after the oral surgeon's office.  Something doesn't sound right.  Ask what the delay is.  My son has a tooth problem and gets almost immediate feedback. He's now waiting for the "socket" to heal enough to do an implant.

MG I googled and found this..hope Oscar feels better soon.

Giving your cat more seafood or tuna will provide them with Omega-3 fatty acids which are proven to keep their liver healthy. You can also choose to provide them with Omega-3 supplements.

Maybe Patricia can help as she has more experience with cats.

Rick ,I put our chives in  a can when planted so they wouldn't overtake the area.

Amy, I like fresh veggies so prefer to use them.  I sauté them just a little because we like the "crunch" but, I think frozen vegs. would work just fine.  Along with onion, cherry tomatoes, garlic I put in chopped red bell pepper and that was really good.  You could also use zuchinni or any kind of squash or even sweet potatoes.  The frittata looked so good right out of the oven. It puffed up nicely and I added some cheddar and parmesan cheese to it.  I used 7 eggs and that made a big dish.  David ate 2 pie-shaped wedges and I had one.  Frittata reheats very nicely so we may have the leftover for lunch today.

Amy, I keep wondering....is Babe still with you?

Jane, your "breakfast stuff" sounded good.  I like eating breakfast dishes any time of the day.    I think of it as comfort food.

MG,  I hope you can find a diet for Oscar that is healthy for him.  What won't we do for our fur friends?

Rick, as a kid I used to eat the wild onions when they came up in the spring.  Later, I preferred chives from the garden or grocery store.  People around here hunt for and love ramps.  All of those things are in the onion family, I think, and very tasty , IMO.

Take care, All.

Good morning, thirty degrees here at 10:04 and our snow is in the ugly stage, sinking into itself. Our streets are basically clear, with small areas of ice along the outside.

MG, this is what I found online for you; https://safe.duckduckgo.com/?q=liver+issues+with+cats&ia=web

Amy, "hold off" might be a midwestern term, as it was common in our house growing up with parents from Kansas and Missouri.

While I don't think we have ramps grown locally, we do have wild onions and leeks. And very prolific onion grass. The Interior has rich black glacial soil, which is why, combined with almost 24/7 daylight, makes hardy gardens. This is one reason why FDR sent so many colonies of dust bowl victims to Alaska for a fresh start.

"Everything in Alaska is a little bit bigger — even the produce. A 138-pound cabbage, 65-pound cantaloupe and 35-pound broccoli are just a few of the monsters that have sprung forth from Alaska's soil in recent years."

A GOOD FRIDAY greeting to all. The last two days we have been on the run....seems I take much longer now to recuperate‼️🤣

Had balance class, PT and a doctor appointment all on Wednesday.  Good news from doc appointment as I was able to get two injections on my left and right hip bursa joints and they are already feeling so much less pain.  I just hope and pray they last for awhile🙏🙏

Sorry you are not feeling well AMY.  Take it easy on yourself and let yourself recover🥰🥰 Today is the first day I am feeling better....this bug has lasted forever.  Send yours away QUICK‼️‼️

JANE, I hope you are happily shopping at the Amish store.

MG, sent off our taxes also and happy to have it done just as you are‼️‼️ We have car tags due also and that is done‼️‼️. So sad about the tragedy in Baltimore Harbor😩😢 Happy you and Sue had a nice lunch together.

Headed out the door to go get Bob's drivers license renewed.....he is 80 and can no longer do it online😩😩 Seems a lot of things change when one turns 80🤷

Have a good day EVERYFRIEND‼️‼️

Good morning

May see sun poke its nose today. Another day of take it as it comes here.

Jenny so happy to read you are feeling better.

Patricia, keep that cabbage away from Jane!! She will whip it into cabbage rolls and or cole slaw!! Wow that is one big cabbage.

Phyllis,I may have to try one of those only make half a recipefor us. Yes, Babe is still with us. She has good days and not so good days but good wins out. She seems to know I am not "good" and will try or even get up on her own without me pulling her on her feet. Yesterday she walked faster than I and after what needed to be done I let the strap go and I sat down and waited for her to come in. She is eating, drinking and even telling me it is treat time.

Rick, easy picking of your chives! If there is room you could throw in some radish seeds if you like radish, even lettuce too

Enjoy your day and stay safe

Thanks, Patricia. I have visited some of those sites, but some did not come up on my browser search, so I will be checking them out too. My browser of choice these days is Brave. I forget which search engine I am using but you can bet that is is not Bing or Google.

Well, I solved the oral surgeon problem. It appears that they did send me something, but through some scheduling, etc. website they use rather than having their own. They sent it to my cell phone as a pdf titled simply by my first name. The phone number and website, which at first I couldn't display all of, were unfamiliar. I thought it was spam or a con. After a whole week I got brave and opened it and recognized where the .pdf came from, but there were not instructions other than a place for me to sign the page. I think I am supposed to sign it and send it back, but no instructions to do so. I guess I am supposed to sign and reply to the same weird email address it came from. The web address included NexHealth and a whole bunch of numbers and letters. Not the kind of email address that I have ever seen before. Looks more like a direct link to some online thing. Before replying, I will be calling them again.  I suspect the number I call to make an appointment is also part of this organization. NexHealth is a software development company headquartered in San Francisco. Anyone ever had any dealings with them?

Good morning, another late start after another late night but, here I am. MG, I use the Fox privacy, no track browser and DuckDuckGo for search and other web activity. I stay as far away from Microsoft and Google as I can. I had never heard of Brave before. Below is some info on DuckDuckGo which is a privacy search engine and does have its own browser if you need extra, no track privacy.

That type of insurance, and primary this and that, is illegal here. You have a doctor for general, a surgeon if it's serious, and insurance doesn't rule the equation.

That cabbage record is from 2019. I'm sure it's been surpassed more recently.

As I understand it, we have rich black soil from retreating ancient glaciers, almost 24/7 sunlight and being in the arctic, we don't get the damaging edge of the sun rays. "At polar latitudes, the sun's rays hit the Earth at even more of a slant. So, at polar latitudes, incoming solar radiation is spread over an even larger surface area, and is even less intense than at mid-latitudes." We're at the lower edge of the arctic, so we get the sun for crops but not the burn, thus the larger growth. Our summers range between mid-sixties to mid-eighties.

Amy, I'm so happy to hear about Babe, she is one of the lucky ones. I hope you feel better soon. I'm at the opposite end, there's no humidity to speak of and my skin and nasal passages are so dry that a sneeze starts a nose bleed. I run my humidifier 24/7.

Jane, I envy your family closeness, my family is 2,256 miles from here, although my sister and I email daily.

HAPPY EASTER

Lots of sun today and a starting temp of 27°. Quiet Easter here not only do I have the "cold" but now Kyle is giving a run on the kleenex. Never had a cold like this, makes you weak as a kitten.
I am getting really good at doing "nuthin" do the essentials.....maybe..then rest.
Our pantry is well stocked so we want for nothing .

Patricia, each day is a blessing not only for Babe but us. I was cooking lean hamburg up for the dogs and they turned their nose up on it. Now I am cooking up chicken hearts and beef liver( doesn't that sound appitizing),chop it up and feeding that with some of the broth. They both dive into their dishes and clean them up.

Janie ,have fun with all your family..

Everyone fed, taken out and now I am done..will do what I have been doing.......nothing.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning, another late one. I have finished brewing my coffee, fed Farrah and myself and participated in our morning meet and greets. It's 37 out there at 8:41 and there's more and more cleared spots as the snow melts and sinks into itself.

Farrah has taken to following me from room to room and has discovered she can hide beneath the couch cover, leaving only a paw in the clear. Yesterday, she lay straight out with only her head covered. I tried to get a photo, but each time, she felt movement and emerged.

I need to get out to the store, but all I seem to want to do is be a couch potato. Likewise, I'm still running my humidifier.

Amy, I'm glad Babe is doing so well and enjoying her meals. My second husband would have loved that, cooked. He loved the organ meats.

Hello and good morning to Jane, Rick and MG! I hope you and anyone lurking is having a wonderful Easter.

CallieOK

Happy Easter!

Amy, hope you and Kyle feel better soon.

Janie,  when are you coming to Oklahoma?

Too much coming at me all at once to post more  :o  Later....

Amy

Another day slowly going.

Callie, thank you..one day at a time..

Patricia, not a meal I wish to partake in but they love it...for now.
