Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

Kelly

JoanFL

Good morning, Kelly.

Vanilla-Jackie--Good morning.  I am so sorry you have that stomach bug.  I know it's miserable.

Good morning, Amy.  I guess chasing dust bunnies isn't such a chore if you pretend you're playing hide and seek.:)

Good morning, Lloyd.

Janie--Good morning.  I imagine you're glad you have three days off after working 3 days this week--your first week back at work.  Send us some rain.

Good morning, Jeanne Lee.  This is for you and Janie.......

Got lots of new stuff to talk about…but my hand is still messed up, and can barely type with one finger…sure  need to get it fixed, but dread having the surgery…oh, woe is me.

Sun

Good Morning Everyone,
from the sunny rocky coast of Maine,
(Still Cool)

Sun,  Good luck with getting
your hand fixed so you can get
back to using the computer more.

That would really frustrate me!

Have a good day, Everyone.

Hi Sandy
Good morning to you.

Bis i am in trouble .I have always depended on you and Jennie Lee& and others to guide and help me,and now it seams you all are lost as well. I am sort of depressed with the sight as it is now. I cant figure out how to do lot we did before (or way) a min. ago I was post this to you and it just went away  and said while you wee reading others posted.??????. my love for all you stops me but sometimes I am temped to stop even comming in. Have a great day I have to get out and go to work.

Lloyd

Kelly

Hi Sun
It might be as I have said before a good idea to think of using voice recognition software or VR as it is also known.

If you have hand pain, using it stops you from having hand pain from typing.  And after surgery it means you can still use a computer and rest the hand that has had sugery.

This post of mine is not typed, but with me speaking the text and the VR typing it.

Without VR I would not be able to participate as much on S&F.

Kelly

Good Morning Everyone!

Sun I am sorry to hear your hand is giving you so much trouble.  Do you have anyone around who help you set up your voice typing?''

Jackie, hope you are feeling better now.  Stomach upset is not good.

Lloyd, don't get too frustrated.  Hang in there and get your grandkids to come over and show you how to do things.  If you forget, just call them and get them to talk you through it.

I was up early and got myself cleaned up.  Cleaning lady coming this morning and I have a doctors appointment with the urologist oncologist this morning.

Everyone have a great day.

Jeanne Lee

Lloyd, I'm still around, although I did have a spell when I couldn't get here.

If you get the message that someone has posted while you were writing, you can just ignore that and hit the post button.  Or before you hit "Post" you can scroll down to see anything new, add to your post if you want to answer something, or just hit post when you've finished reading.  Don't let that message scare you.

Halkel, seems at the moment my sickness episode has caused some nerve damage, just when yesterday (before eating this bad pie ) I was starting to feel pretty good, but not now...its affecting my right hand, ( black, purple, Ice cold and numb.....) my head lower stomach and right side of groin area, not forgetting balance....As I said before, this MS s***ks....I wouldn't wish this on anyone....

larryhanna

Hi everyone on a cloudy with a 60% chance of rain this afternoon and we are headed to the low 80's also.  Yesterday turned out to be a bit quieter than I had anticipated as at coffee I found out that our Wisdom group had been cancelled because the Pastor had been called out of town.  I came home and hooked up the garden hoses and watered the flowers and bushes in front and then hooked up the back hose and watered the plants we have purchased for the containers, which I need to get planted today.

The housekeeper is due this morning and it has been almost three weeks since she was here as she came early last time to clean before my sister and BIL arrived.  Likely we will go out to eat a late lunch and may go to Ruby Tuesday's as they are having buy one salad bar and get the other free since today is Earth Day.  Otherwise it should be a quiet day at home.

The UPS truck was just here and delivered my new laser printer and also some new equipment from Comcast.  So I have a couple of things to do I had planned on doing.  It keeps life interesting since we don't know what each day may bring.

Mary Ann, Over the years I had two electric organs.  The first was an old Hammond organ with the slides and the second was a Conn that had a setting for a theater organ sound, which I really enjoyed.  When we moved to our last home in Georgia I sold the organ as didn't have room for it and the piano both in our much smaller home.  I should sell the piano as seldom play it but can't part with it as a piano as been a part of my entire life since about the age of 7.  I remember Norm talking about playing the organ.

Molly, you were most wise to ignore that message.  Sure glad you didn't take another fall with that chair. Does your phone allow you to block callers?  I know I can, and have, done this on my iPhone and the other phones I have had in the last few years.

Jackie, sorry you experienced such a miserable night and do hope you are much better today.

Jane, I assure you that not much wisdom comes out of our Wisdom group and the Pastor does most of the talking, although invites us to share our thoughts or comments on the subject.  Occasionally we say something that is useful to him as he prepares his sermons.

Callie, what a fortunate grandmother you are to have those two lovely granddaughters wanting to come and spend some time with you.

Molly,

halkel

Jackie, an upset stomach shouldn't cause that sort of thing with your hand.  It sounds like something that needs to be seen by a doctor.  Do you have an emergency clinic or hosp near by you could contact.  I would advise doing so.

We are never going to be able to get rid of the Solicited calls on the phones. Fact will get worse. I had 8 yesterday alone. Calling that number the Gov. put out to stop them. No good.
I have had 2 that have done it every day for almost 2 years now. Thing is it happens about the same time every day so just know to let the machine click on.
I now pick up and answer in Spanish.   HoLi, Pue-do Aydarte   Is Hello, Can I help you.. Then Gracias.  Thanks.. Close as I can remember to say it talking fast.  Maybe if they are a first time caller it may help.
JeanneP

JoanFL

JeanneP--Those calls aren't going to stop so I forget about it and toss them in the "worry trash".

Lloyd, I just got the same message you spoke of. It happens frequently, and to me it is just saying "in case you want to read this first before you post". I usually read it, then scroll back up to the posting box and put in my message. Nothing is going to happen that is bad Lloyd. And don't even think of leaving us. We like you.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

The "worry trash" is a good place for them, Joan.  I'll remember that.  If I don't recognize the number of the caller I don't answer.  I figure if it is important enough I'll find out about it eventually.  Anyway, if the caller hangs on it just goes to Voice Mail (or Answering machine on my home phone) and I'll listen to it later and delete them from there.  I just wish the robo-calls wouldn't come everyday at nap time.   :tickedoff:

Good Morning,

I'm also getting "spam" calls - usually from an Area Code I don't recognize or from "Out of Area" with no number ID.  I let them go to message and they always hang up before the message completes.
I do sometimes answer unrecognized calls from my area code but - if it's a robo-call, I hang up immediately - and if it's a real person, I say - in my best very firm schoolteacher tone -  "I do not (whatever it is they want) on the phone. Please take me off your calling list" and then hang up without waiting for an answer.

Larry,  I've said before and I'll say again that I'm am very very grateful that my family - including the extended family - all like each other and enjoy being together.  Everyone lives within about an hour's drive of one another but nobody is in anybody's pocket, so to speak - which is probably why we all get along.   :)

Sounds as if Miss Ellen is in somewhat of a "transition" period after her year of working and performing.  She has one more six-weeks period of rehearsals and performances but nothing after that. One of her two part-time jobs could develop into a full-time position but would probably mean less time for performing (unless she was being paid well for that).

I'm hoping that #2 son will be able - weather and schedule-wise - to help plant my "pot garden" next week.

That's it from this corner.  Hope those with health issues are recovering and that  Everyfriend Everywhere has a lovely day.

Kelly

Hi Everyone
On the Island we have a number that we can phone and usually within a few days that called is barred from phoning again.

kelly

JoanFL

June--You explained it to Lloyd very well.

Phyllis--With my phone system besides announcing who is calling, the name and number of the caller flashes on the TV screen--so can pretty well tell who is calling.

Callie--You sure are fortunate that your family lives fairly close.  I hope Miss Emily gets past the transition and can get on with her life doing what "floats her boat".

Kelly--We have a number we can call to get on the "do not call list" but it doesn't seem to work very well.

I'm home!  Had lunch, gave the doggies a snack and chased them out.  We've had sprinkles off and on all day but not enough to wet the sidewalks.  The "Mysterious They" are saying that it will begin raining harder around 8 tonight.

Right now, I'm going to try to squeeze in a nap before I have to pick up TLH at school.  Enjoy your day...whatever you're doing!

My TV shows the number, too, Joan, but I don't always have it on.

Heavy rain here and looks like it is starting again.  It's OK because we really needed it.  It was getting pretty dry.

Hi Joan
I think the number we have regarding spam calls is UK based, but it seems to work.

Kelly

JeanneP

According to friend in UK the call to a special number in order to stop all the crazy calls doesn't work either. Will stop maybe one or two but within a short time different people take over.

For all things to break down.  My answer machine has quit working.  along with my home line phone.  Wrong time as I am trying to find a plumber and nothing can be fixed on the phones until late Monday.  Not many people know my Mobile phone number.

Just have to act like have no phone at all until next week.
JeanneP

JoanFL

Phyllis--As I said earlier, my phone system also announces the callers name.

Kelly--I honestly don't know where the "do not call" number for the US emanates.

JeanneP--These spammers move around so quickly and change their numbers that catching them is difficult.  Sorry about your phone being out of order and also your need for a plumber.

Hi JeanneP
I have used the number to stop calls that we are given on the Island it has worked for me.

June Drabek

Hi All, My day started our fine, till late morning I started with diarrhea.....again......
so I'm eating soda crackers, banana, dry toast, yogurt, and staying very close to the bathroom. Gary came by for a short visit, and helped me locate a medicine my new doctor gave me...turns out it was for nausea, which I do not have. But I have had that problem frequently too. Oh well.......into each life a little rain must fall.

At least I have plenty of reading material, and later on when no one else is out and about, I will dress appropriately and go down to the dining room and load up on bananas, rice krispies, white bread for toasting, and bring it all upstairs. That is another nice thing about living here, fruit and cereals, bread and other goodies are always available. I don't have rice in my cupboard but I can eat hands full of dry rice Krispies.

Out weather has been very pleasant today. Lots to be thankful for. Hope you all have a very Good night and and happy, healthful tomorrow. God Bless . always.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Kelly

Hi June
Sorry to hear you are not well.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery
