Had a good lunch with friends, then home to the afore mentioned nap…a long one. Also had a new four cup coffee maker delivered, so I got that washed and treated as directed, and ready for tomorrows breakfast. Also in the delivery was to pair of leg warmers. Am wearing  a pair right now, and though they reach from just ankle to knee they are even keeping my feet warm. Dr. suggested I keep leg covered with thicker socks to help protect legs from more injuries. These are a knitted material, sort of a chain stitch, and so far I am happy with them.

Gloria de, my boys gave me the lap top when I was flat on my back in the
Care facility, and that is where I learned how to operate it. What a life saver that is as you already know. Nice memories of your marriage dear..thanks for sharing.

Mary Ann, I felt the Norm on line was there to have fun and share with us, but in real life he was far more serious and feeling. A nice person and still missed.

Beverly, I have missed your messages, but felt you were still catching up from your last trip. I'm so glad all is well. We used to go to Tijuana at least once or twice a year…that is where our visitors always enjoyed going…then it changed. I would no longer go across that border for anything. People have been known to disappear down there.

It is time to fix up some supper and since there is nothing going on downstairs, I will put my nose back in my book, and before I know it, bedtime will have arrived. I hope to get back to say goodnight.  ;)
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Late getting in to our new spot for the week....thank you, JOAN. I thought about you today knowing it is the 11th anniversary of the passing of your dear Ray.  It is hard to believe it has been that long.

This beautiful day passed very quickly...as they all seem to be doing these days.  We spoke to our youngest son and his wife this morning to wish them a happy 12th wedding anniversary.  Our oldest and youngest son both married the same year.  Hard to believe that 12 years have already passed.

Bob went with Dr. Dave and Grandson Matt to a Denver University lacrosse game this afternoon.  DU is the number one team in the nation.  I had a nice visit with my special friend and neighbor and we did our best to solve all the problems of the world.

GLORIA de, I do not think Kurt passed through RI on this trip...so no hello from Gloria this time.  He did however pass through New York!

GLORIA, I am sad to read that again your son will not have a apple crop this year.  He must be so disappointed.  I always will remember your stories of your time there helping out with the sale of the apples. Our doggie that had such a hard time on this drive is normally a very good traveler, so we do not know if it was the rental truck or what.  Kurt sure felt bad for him.

CAROL, nice that you were able to introduce your son and dil to your shopping area on the other side of the boarder.  We always felt better crossing in at Nogales than we did in Tiajuana.

BEVERLY, you have taken on a very nice project of sharing family pictures with your children.  They will treasure this gift!

MARYANN, I, share with others the joy of reading about your continued relationship with Dot.  Nothing finer than to have someone to go to church with and a traditional meal afterwards. Of course you both knew Norm so very well.

JUNE, happy your sox have arrived and you seem to be happy with them.  I hope they will keep your legs safer!

I best close this off for the night.... good night and pleasant dreams to all.

Good morning, JACKIE.

CHUCKLES

School Daze

It was the first day of school, after summer vacation and time for me to pick up the children in my school bus and take them home again. After I had made the complete run that afternoon, one little boy remained on the bus.

Thinking he had simply missed his stop, I started driving slowly back through the neighborhood and asked him to be sure to let me know if any of the houses or people looked familiar. The boy sat in his seat contentedly and shook his head whenever I asked him if he recognized a person or place.

After the second unsuccessful tour of the area, I started back to the school to ask for his address. When we arrived, the child got off the bus and started walking away.

"Wait!" I called. "We have to go inside and find out where you live."

"I live right there," he said, pointing to a house across the street. "I just always wanted to ride in a school bus."

Food For Thought

Family Matters
(by Rev. Kerry S. Doyal)

Family matters matter. No debate.  Yes, blood family, but so too blood-bought family: brothers and sisters in Christ.

Our relationship status with them is a test of our relationship with God.

The Disciple whom Jesus loved wrote:

"If anyone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen.
And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother." - 1 John 4:20-21 (ESV)

Saying you love God proves nothing. It is easy to profess passion for God.  Lived-out love towards fellow-disciples shows a love for God.  All who say they would die for God, should daily give of their lives for His kids.

If you are not extending & expending on behalf of God's family, your love for the family's Father is questionable.

Here are two passages that spell out what love looks like:

1 John 3:16-18 - "By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth. (ESV)

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 - "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things." (ESV)

Good morning everyone..

No new snow and no warm temp either.but 28F is better than -28

What an interesting day we had yesterday, we went for coffee/tea as usual but when it came to pay, hubby didn't have his wallet!! When we got back home we retraced his steps from the day before and the last place would have been the bank that he had his wallet out. I had checked the coat, pants her was wearing but no wallet, I checked the van, under the passenger seat but so wallet......that I saw. We figured it was gone so he st to write out all the cards that were in it. I thought I would check the van again and took a flashlight with me this time. Lo and behold , there on the right hand side under his seat standing straight up and out of the way was his wallet!!! Needless to say we were both happy about that as it also contained our house key!!

Nothing planned today, just cleaning and then get some sewing done.

Joan, thank you for breakfast.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good morning Everyfriend!  It's also cold here.  Right now, I'd even take AMY'S 28º.  It's only 22 here.  I miss last week already!  And I'm definitely ready for Spring!

I have no plans for today except to pick up a couple items at the grocery store.  Maybe I make that the Amish Grocery Store.  I haven't been there in a while.  I'll see how I feel later.

I hope you all have a great day full of everything and everyone you love!

Good morning, Amy.  I am sure glad you found your husband's wallet.

Janie--Good morning.  Seems odd that your temp is colder than Amy's.  Happy shopping.

My housekeeper come this morning so I have to pick up a bit.

Good morning and thank you to all who expressed their appreciation of this week's graphic.  June, that is how my bedside table looks, too.  And my chair side table....and my computer desk....and my, etc.  I have always loved to read but instead of the "uplifting" and "informative" books I used to read, I now read light novels for entertainment and escape.  I wouldn't want to wear out my brain by actually thinking.   :2funny:

My best wishes to all of you for a very good day and week to come.

Hi everyone on another reasonably cool but sunny morning.  We should get into the low 70's this afternoon.  The man just arrived to pressure wash the front of my house and also the wooden fence in our backyard.  The only thing I have planned for today is to attend my Monday noon meeting and then a quick stop at COSTCO on the way home for gas.  Pat didn't feel up to going to church with me yesterday.  During the children's sermon the minister spoke of Jesus on the mountaintop at the Transfiguration and asked the children what would they do if they were to experience such a thing with such bright light.  One little boy piped up and said he would put on his sunglasses.  The congregation had a hardy laugh.  Sometimes the minister sort of loses control of the situation.

Sandy, I must admit that I am pretty organized and try to keep things in order on a daily, or at least  weekly, basis.  As soon as I put something in a new place I seem to not be able to find it.  I like things to be straight and not much of an angle and sometimes my wife will put things at an angle to just wait and see how long before I put it back straight.  I think I get some of this from my mother.

Gloria, how sad that your son won't have an apple crop this year.  I hope there is a miracle and your son does get a crop.  I have been wondering about the peach crop here in South Carolina as have not had any sustained freezing weather.  However, I don't know what is required to get a good crop of peaches.

Amy, thanks for the oatmeal cookies.  However, I will pass on the cold milk as don't like to drink milk.  Sure glad you found your husband's wallet and before you started changing credit cards and doing other replacements.

June, my experience being hospitalized is that I need to pack an extension cord also so that my phone and iPad chargers will be available.  I remember several times when Stacey would have to go to the emergency room and wouldn't have her cell phone charger and her phone would lose its power so we couldn't stay in touch with her.

Joan, while the hospital usually has a phone at the bedside all of our phone numbers are now saved in our cell phones so having it with us is very helpful.

Mary Ann, I have used computers probably for at least 30 years and the age old question has always been whether we should turn our computers off during the night.  The answer has always been that it is a matter of choice.  However, it is good to reboot them occasionally if they stay on all the time.

Carol, did you stay overnight in Mexico or were you just there for the day?  It sounds like those Javelinas are not your favorite animal.  I have never lived where we have had them and I sure hope they don't make their way to South Carolina.

Beverly, nice to see your posting and your preparing pictures for a Christmas gift is a great idea.  My mother had separated all of her pictures into two stacks, one of me and one for my sister and that was a big help.  A number of years ago I went through our pictures and scanned them.

deAngel, you didn't write too much and I think one of the highlights of our discussions is it allows us to wonder down memory lane and share past experiences.

halkel

Good Morning Everyone!

Gray morning here but warm, not sure what the weather is going to do and it seems anymore the weather guessers don't.

Amy, I had to smile when you said you found your husbands wallet. I know that feeling of relief and the dissipation of worry.

Nothing much tap here today.  Just checked and I don't see a thing for appointments this week.

Joanie, thank you for the food for the tummy and soul.  You are quite a classy lady.

JoanFL

Good morning Larry.  Cute answer the boy gave about the Transfiguration.  I find I don't care for hospital's bedside phones.  For one thing they are cumbersome.  And, as you state they don't have our frequently used numbers in them.

halkel--Good morning.  Bet it seems good not to have any appointments this week.  I don't know how much class I have. :)

Good morning everyone, woke thinking it was Sunday. Pulled the shades up, looked out and saw the manager's car here and wondered why she was here on a Sunday. Think I am loosing it? Glad it is Monday, tomorrow I see the pain doctor again. Will have to tell him those last shots did no good.

AMY   glad someone left an oatmeal cookie for me in the hidey hole. At one time I made a douible batch of them every week, my younger son would eat most of them.

JOAN  my son is hoping but told me it does not look like there will be.

MARY ANN  same here, a week ago it felt like spring and now it is back to winter jackets.

GLORIA de  I know what you mean about yesterday. I was so surprised when I went out to feel that wind  and how cold it was. Today is the same.

BEVERLY  I have been trying to sort a box of pictures for 2 years now. I get through some of them and get tired so close the box again. I have given many away to my family and some I have shredded. When I first started on a computer and got a printer/scanner I did what your son suggested. I scanned all the ones I had of my 3 when they were young and made 4 CD's One for each of them and one for me. Like you so far I have avoided a cold.

JUNE  only once did I get into Tijuana when visiting my daughter. That once was enough.

JENNY  it is so sad to see a dog suffer in a car.

JOAN  a crock pot breakfast will be different this morning. Of course with me being so late today it will be Brunch. Love School Daze. That poor school bus driver must have been getting frantic. Good quote and so true. Thank you for today's goodies.

AMY  so glad you found that wallet. Too much personal information in there to lose.

JANE when I started this it was in the upper 20's and now into the low 40's but the wind is also stronger.

JOAN  my CNA is here, I just sent her to the market just so I can finish here. She sure loves to talk.

PHYLLIS  I am now reading a book my son got for Christmas.  By Clarence E. Mulford. It is a western, all about the beginning of Hopalong Cassidy. He was a young redhead, Not the white haired older man we saw on TV. All short stories, some funny and some a lot of shooting. All about 8 pages or less. Book has almost 600 pages. I think Shirley would enjoy this one. Reading just for entertainment is the best.

LARRY  love your tale about the boy and the sunglasses. Must be great to belong to a church where the congregation can laugh like that. When you do not have much space I have learned that every thing has to be put back where it is kept. My CNA at times will move something and I cannot find it. I keep telling her to put things back where she finds them. I do know the apple trees need a dormant season. The buds are set in the fall after the apples are picked. Of course they do not open till it is warm. A lady I worked with and a friend went to Georgia on a vacation and brought me back some peaches and boy were they good. There used to be a peach orchard not far from here where we went to pick some for canning but it is closed now.

HAL  I have one appointment this week, tomorrow with the pain doctor.

Wow I made it before noon time.

Gloria--I am so sorry those last shots didn't help.  Going to the market is a good chore for your CNA.

I'm confused. Is Michael and OLdiesman one and the same person ?

My "starter" got stuck this morning so I stayed in bed till it was going on eight o'clock. A "quick" shower takes me at least half an hour, then another 15 or 20 minutes to doctor up my legs. But I am here, thanks be to God, and have the day all to myself.

Jenny, the leg warmers are a blessing. More than I expected. and they will give some protection if I should bump my legs. They are a cable knit..acrylic material..made in China,of course, but they need the employment too.

Amy, I am SO glad you were able to capture the lost wallet. I keep a list of all my wallet contains in a desk drawer, as I no longer trust myself in losing or misplacing stuff.

Janie, I'm thinking of the grocery store too..mine is on line of course, but it seems it takes me well over an hour to shop this way. I do too much scooting back and forth, and going to my kitchenette to compare size of stuff that I know I have room for.

Phylilis. I have two desks, the bedside table, the recliner table,  plus a small table in the bathroom, where I keep a small book of devotion, a pair of glasses , a pen, and a crossword puzzle book. So we match up pretty well. I pray that both of us retain our eyesight as long as we live.

Larry, you are right..an extension cord would be very helpful. At the care facility, I had to wait till I was disconnected to the I.V. so I could reach my computer. Larry I usually use Sunday night for running my disk utility, and shutting down the computer..not every Sunday night, but I think it is a good practice..just to give the machine a good sleep.

Hal, we are having a cloudy day here too. No rain, just sort of a sleepy sun. Suits me.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Carol--I have only been to Mexico once in my life.

June--Yes--Michael and Oldiesman are the same person.  GREAT that the legwarmers are working so well for you.

Hello again Everyfriend!  My contractor guy was here and he is going to do all but one item on my list.  It looks like I'll have to live with my cold floors.

I missed lunch with my friends from PA House but I needed to be here for the contractor.  I'll just hope to make it the next time.

This afternoon I'm going to drop a bag of bedding that I don't use any more for the "NoKill" pet shelter.  Then I pick up Kiran after school.  That's my day!  I didn't get to the Amish store because the contractor called.  My day changed considerably but that's life!

Good morning, its almost 10 AM here and the skies are clearing from that milky white that always accompanies snow. Farrah is going from window to balcony and back again, crying as if she's lost her best friend. The birds who normally cavort for her have been absent this morning.

Thank you, Joan, for the link and I left him a message.

Gloria, my friend had those shots in the back. The first time worked great, the second was so-so and the third was a waste. The doctor said to her that it usually works that way.

Our last winter storm and alert gave us another nine inches of snow, I don't know what stuck around. We were hoping this would lift our drought since 2013, bu are told it depends on if there was heavy snow in the mountains so it is still a guessing game. We are to cool off again by this coming weekend. Surprisingly, for this part of Alaska, we get our warm weather from Siberia and our colder weather from British Columbia.

I found out recently that all later kindle tablets and kindle fire8 have been given a free Alexa account. I have yet to try mine out but the instructions look simple enough for activation.

well I got a teck. friend to stop by and fix my computer so I can use it and play games and check the up to the min weather.

I spent the better part of the morning ordering my groceries, then it was time to go down for lunch. Naturally, after lunch I fell asleep in my recliner and woke up two hours later. My brain is still sleeping.

We have had several spurts of good rain come down, and that always seems conducive to napping. My eyes still want to close.

Good afternoon, windy, but sunny.  Just home from the hematologist,. First time in over a year that I did not have to get the Procrit shot.  Everyone in the lab was happy for me. I still have to go in every month though and have blood drawn to check.

Gloria, as I have wrote before, I had the shots in my back quite a few times, finally it was 4, 2 on each side of my spine. that lasted a couple of months, and then I called it quits  It was not worth the time and trips up the Island

Amy, I am so glad the wallet was found.

Beverly, A few years ago, at my age 93 I found I also had old albins, and boxes of pictures. So for Christmas I made grand and nephews that were close scraps books, with captions telling a little history of each pictures.  I had pictures, that went back to there G.Great grand parents. etc. I started in the summer, so they were ready by Christmas, of course with a little check. My nephew in his early 60's seem to appreciate it the most. Maybe in a few years the grand will look closer.

June, how did you like your 4 cup coffee maker. I am happy with mine. The stockings make a difference, but my legs still have black and blue spots.

I started this in the afternoon, and now it is after 8.  Then I had neighbors stopping in, one brought chicken soup.  I also wrote a long review in another post about the Oscars last night, got to the last sentence and I lost it, 2nd time this week.

Gloria de, I really like my little four cup coffee maker. The coffee was delicious, and just the right amount, and it doesn't take up as much counter space, which is limited in my little kitchenette.

I know my leg warmers won't protect my from any harsh treatment, but they will help somewhat in bumps and bruises, and I can't believe how covering just my legs keep my feet warm as well.

Being the last in my immediate family I inherited all kinds of old photos too. I didn't know most of the the people so I just disposed of the pictures. I still have many albums but I will leave it to the kids to take care of. Those that my boys would not know I am sending to a relative in Mn. that values family pictures. You really did a nice job with those you wanted to give to others.

I'm not hungry at all but it is supper time, so I will fix something……
