Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

First of all I have to say a big THANK YOU so much for your thought and Prayers for today. The operation went well and I was able to bring her home even though she was still wobbley on her legs. She has a 5 inch cut with heavy duty dissolvable stitches. She slept all the way home!

Trying to put in time in a town with not many shops is difficult so I spent most of my time at Timmies having a tea . I did hit their Steadmans store where I was mugged by some fabric too!

Time to see if my ol girl would like a bit of food. :)

Once again thank you!!

Gloria, I am so happy to hear about your grandson, a young man of strength and determination!

Amy, You must be so happy that your dog came through the operation well and with a great vet!

Interesting, the bold and font size has returned.....

Bis, I'm sorry, I never posted back to you. Yes, you are correct, it is hyponatremia. I am going to just get a trial subscription for the new medication..sixty dollars for a two weeks supply. I thought I had already sent this out, but my mind is still sleeping.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Lloyd, I did a copy and paste and the program came up.  I watched a couple of minutes, but that is not my type of cartoon, but it did come up OK.

Well been up since I guess near to 4.am, it is now 5.45am...heard our Toby give a one off bark, thats all he does to attract somebodies attention, just a one bark then sits by the back door waiting to be let out to do toilet, if he needs to do toilet through the night...Well as usual R waits for me to get up, he hears but wont budge...of course I have to take a trip to the loo myself first, my MS bladder problems, but I got to Toby in time, even though my walking is slower than Rs...I have already had number one cup of tea, about to make myself a second cup..Toby of course went straight onto Rs bed to settle with him once he came in, ( I purposely closed his bedroom door, so if he barks or scratches the door again to be let out of his bedroom, let R get out of bed to let him out, I can just ignore it  ) after he realised I wasn't going to give him any treats, he looks towards the cupboard in the kitchen where I keep his foods and waits...he has found that to be our new game, but at that time in the morning I wasn't about to go play games with him....

Oh forgot to mention, if I dont close Rs bedroom door, the light shines in from the computer room opposite, and this office is too tiny for me to close my office door...so dont want him moaning or complaining the bright light is keeping him awake...as my late father would often say..." there is a method in my madness..." :P

Good Wednesday morning, Everyfriend, on this first day of March.  There’s Cinnabons to accompany your coffee or tea. I wish everyone a great day!!

CHUCKLES

Choices

Two little boys were visiting their grandfather, and he took them to a restaurant for lunch. They couldn't make up their minds about what they wanted to eat. Finally the grandfather grinned at the server and said, "Just bring them bread and water."

One of the little boys looked up and quavered, "Can I have ketchup on it?"

Food For Thought

"Taking Aim"
(Author Unknown)

A young lady named Sally, relates an experience she had in a seminary class, given by her teacher, who we'll call Brother Smith. She says Brother Smith was known for his elaborate object lessons.

One particular day, Sally walked into the seminary and knew they were in for another fun day. On the wall was a big target and on a nearby table were many darts. Brother Smith told the students to draw a picture of someone that they disliked or someone who had made them angry, and he would allow them to throw darts at the person's picture.

Sally's girlfriend (on her right), drew a picture of a girl who had stolen her boyfriend. Another friend (on her left), drew a picture of his little brother. Sally drew a picture of a former friend, putting a great deal of detail into her drawing, even drawing pimples on the face. Sally was pleased at the overall effect she had achieved.

The class lined up and began throwing darts, with much laughter and hilarity. Some of the students threw their darts with such force that their targets were ripping apart. Sally looked forward to her turn, and was filled with disappointment when Brother Smith, because of time limits, asked the students to return to their seats.

As Sally sat thinking about how angry she was because she didn't have a chance to throw any darts at her target, Brother Smith began removing the target from the wall.

Underneath the target was a picture of Jesus . . .

A complete hush fell over the room as each student viewed the mangled picture of Jesus; holes and jagged marks covered His face and His eyes were pierced out.

Brother Smith said only these words, "In as much as ye have done it unto the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto Me."

No other words were necessary; the tear-filled eyes of each student focused only on the picture of Christ.

"And the King will answer and say to them, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.' Matthew 25:40

JOAN...
...good morning, as you can see from my earlier post I have been up and about since 4.am'ish...
Well two cups of tea later, and after my breakfast but not before I fed our Toby his morning meal...of course R is just getting up and about, takes him an hour at least...it is now 9.40am...I am now listening to him counting and shaking his loose change from the tray, or loosely sitting on his dressing table, I have seen him doing this...a usual morning ritual...maybe he thinks the fairies or goblins will come in and tamper with his money through the night, and leave him short...
  ::)

JoanFL

Good morning, Vanilla-Jackie.  You and I were both up early.  Maybe "R" is obsessed about counting his change.:)

JaneS

Good Morning Everyfriend!  The temps are supposed to be in the 50s and 60s today but the predicted rain is already here.  It's supposed to rain most of the day.

AMY, all this winter, we seem to have got some version of the weather that you reported.  We didn't have the amount of snow that you had but whatever you had on any given day, I began to expect the next day.  When my daughter and her family was living in Montreal, that seemed to happen also.  I would talk to my daughter and she would say, "It's snowing/raining/sunny here" and I'd get it the next day.

Sure am glad that doggie feels like taking him?self outside!  That's a good sign!

I have no plans for this morning but I work today from 3 - 7.  Maybe I'll see if the vacuum wan't to "dance" a bit this morning.  If it does, maybe I can talk it into doing a single.  Sure would love to have one of those automatics like Hal has.

Don't worry about the blanks, Lloyd.  That'll give everyone something to think about today!
I hope you all make today a great one!  Go with God!

Good morning, Lloyd.  You spaced down leaving all that empty area.  I fixed it.

Good morning, Amy.  Now we should have a picture of you taking the dog out.

Janie--Good morning.  Since my housekeepers dance with their vacuums, I don't have to do that.

Guess who the elf was? :roflBig:

Good morning everyone, think I need new pillows. I have been waking with a sore/stiff neck for about a week now. My pillows are foam and getting old. Only place I found them last time was in a Sears catalog.
Been wondering about the My Pillow with all the ads on TV. Got  more shots in my back and it is feeling pretty good this morning.
Welcome to March. Forecast here is warm and possible thunderstorms this afternoon.Supposed to get into the 60's today. Crazy weather all over this year.

JOAN  after more than a year I would say my CNA knows the routine by now. Of course when I got home yesterday I laid on the couch and dozed.

LLOYD  no was not looking for a date for breakfast.  I could afford breakfast is someone would take me. Like you I do not have much jingle in my pocket either. If I could still stand and cook I might be able to gain a few pounds. I have 2 grands that live close but I seldom see them. One great grand that I saw at Christmas at his home, he is only 19 months old.

LARRY  I told the pain doctor that the last shots did not good so yesterday he went back to the first are where most of the pain is, feels good this morning.  Next appointment in in April.

SHIRLEY  like you I am hoping the orchard does bloom this year and those darn caterpillars are gone for good. This weather has not been good for the trees either, not enough freezing weather this winter.

HAL  last time I was in the hospital I took my medical card, a few dollars and my cell phone. The rest I left home or gave to my DIL before she left me there. From some things I have heard here a lot of thefts in nursing homes, too. Even clothing gets stolen.

GLORIA de  so glad your grandson is on his feet again.

JUNE  just got more shots yesterday. Feels better this morning.

AMY  hope everything works out great now for your “girl”

JOAN  a Cinnabon will be so good this morning. Raining and a good day for something good. Cute chuckles. I like Food for Thought and the quote. Both keepers. Thank you for all today's goodies.

AMY  hard to picture you an old lady with all the hard work you do but had to laugh at Picture This because that is just what I was doing.

Think I will go lay on the couch and see if I can catch some Zzzz's before CNA gets here. Been awake since 2:30.

Lloyd--I am glad to be able to help.

Good morning, Gloria.  I sure hope those shots help.  I got new pillows when I had to get a hospital bed.  The are Sleep Number--and I need four pillows.  They are a bit pricey, but they help me sleep with no sores.  Hope you were able to get more sleep.

Lloyd--Sure you are smart enough.  You just locate the delete key, highlight all the white space, and then hit that delete key.

Hi everyone.  It is an overcast Wednesday morning but already 64 degrees and headed up into the low 80's this afternoon.  I have an appointment fairly early this morning at the device clinic to check my pacemaker/defibrillator.  Scott and Jennifer will be here this evening for dinner as there is no dinner at the Church tonight as there is an Ash Wednesday service.  Scott is making dinner for us tonight.  My dental cleaning went well with no new cavities so am set for another six months.  We had a nice Adult Fellowship Luncheon yesterday with a good lunch and a nice program presented by out youth minister who presented a musical program of his singing and playing the guitar.

Lloyd, I am just not up with kids cartoon characters like Pepper Pig.

Hal, I am surprised the doctor's doing surgery don't have lockers with locks on them.  I never take my wallet or money when admitted to the hospital as have no need for it.

Shirley, I hope those allergies soon clear up for you.  Watering and hurting eyes are certainly unpleasant.  I think in the future I will probably just take my iPhone as can do almost everything on it I can on a computer.  I do have a blue tooth keyboard that I might take to assist in typing. I am becoming less and less of a TV fan and find it is getting on my nerves.  Part of the reason is that Pat has to have it up loud to hear it well and sometimes she doesn't want to use her earphones.

deAngel, certainly nice to read that your grandson is now walking with a cane.  He has made a lot of progress in a year.  He has had a terrible ordeal.

June, my cardiologist hasn't mention Hyponatremia but asked me to limit fluids and after reading what this is I wonder if I also do not have it as has CHF and Renal disease.  Maybe she is just trying to prevent it from occurring (I like this idea better). Have you been told to limit your liquid intake to no more than a certain amount?

Jackie, it sounds like Toby has you both well trained.  :)

Gloria, I used a special neck pillow for years that had support for the neck and then it was lower where the head fit.  I went to that after trying to get rid of a sore neck for many months.  I now have some new pillows and have had no new problems with neck stiffness or pain.  I sure hope your back shots yesterday do the trick for you and keep you feeling better.
Amy, glad the surgery went well with your pet and you didn't have to leave her at the vets overnight. I guess quilters can kill a lot of time in a fabric store.  :)

Carol

I didn't take notes and I have forgotten what everyone wrote - already!

Two interruptions and my mind that is like a trap is useless now.

Amy:  LOL on your not passing up on some fabric - it must have been your favorite color.  Glad your sweet doggie is doing well.

halkel

Good morning!
Amy happy you and the pup made it through the night, umbrella and all.

Gloria, my shots have quit working completely.  My walking is back to square one.  See doctor on the 10th, maybe he has a magic elixir.

Beautiful day here.  Lots of sunshine and moderate temps.

Janie, my robot is handy, except, well it is a computer and has its needs, like programming when it runs out of power without docking.

Got to go..

JoanFL

Larry--How nice that Scott is going to cook your supper tonight.  I remember not being able to stay in the same room when my father was watching TV--he didn't have hearing aides or earphones so had to have it loud.

Carol--Nice to hear from you.

halkel--So sorry your shots didn't work.  I hope your doctor can work some magic.

Good morning from a bright and sunny Interior! It is nice to see blue sky again, even a washed out blue with plenty of wind. We've had so much snow recently and everything, sky, land and air is always white then. Farrah has discovered the return of the spring flocks and while I provided her with a chair by the balcony door, she prefers to slink about and peer out from below the sill of a nearby window.

Each fall, the smaller winter birds, wrens, sparrows, redpolls, pine siskins, Juncos, nuthatches, chickadees, and waxwings, unite their species only flocks into huge multi type flocks. Then in March they seem to come to the river by my building before breaking up into individual species smaller flocks through April. It seems to be a type of protection against the hawks and owls that prey on them. Sarah used to love watching them ride the air currents and Farrah seems to also enjoy watching them. Birds have a type of natural antifreeze in their legs so they can perch on colder items in the winter.

I am still slowly going through more of my stuff after having my apartment deep cleaned early last month. I'm slow because my recent sinus infection took every bit of seeming strength I seemed to have and at times my blood pressure dipped enough to make me dizzy and need to sit a spell.

Hal and Gloria, a friend of mine who has a severely arthritic spine had a series of those shots and after a few they quit working. The doctor she has says that is common, you get used to the effects.

Gloria, I had a terrible time with pillows going flat as I tend to sleep on my side. Then
I found Sealy pillows that are for back, side or stomach sleepers. The side pillows don't go flat. I've had one for three years and bought another one last month. I wash my pillows monthly for sanitation and get rid of dust mites, plus there is a special cover on them so it is amazing to me that these stay plump.

I hope everyone is having a good day and Janie, I found a couple of 1948,1949 and 1950 recipe files in Pininterest that I'm emailing to you.

angelface555

I do love trivia and get a daily email dose. Today's question was how often are the residents of Kentucky legally required to bathe? The answer was funny but it was the latter part about women in bathing suits that really made me laugh!

"If you move to Kentucky you better be prepared to bathe at least once a year. A state law that mandates people bathe at least once in 12 months is just one of many unusual statutes that are on the books. Another state law stated that "No female shall appear in a bathing suit on any highway within this state unless she be escorted by at least two officers or unless she be armed with a club." The law was later amended with: "The provisions of this statute shall not apply to females weighing less than 90 pounds nor exceeding 200 pounds, nor shall it apply to female horses."'

Good Ash Wednesday morning everyone. This it the first Ash Wed. in years and years that I have not had the imposition of a dark cross on my forehead. It is not offered here. I did attend Bible Study at 10 a.m. though and it was very, very interesting. Our Chaplain had us start with the Lords Prayer, and then asked what each sentence meant to us personally. Some great answers. I liked it.

I am home for the day. I just don't have the gumption to even go down for eating. I have plenty of food on hand, so I will just follow my "feelings" and stay home for the  rest of the day.

Hal, I'm so sorry you are in pain.  When my legs really, really hurt, I just call down and get a pill called Percocet, and it works like a miracle. I am allowed to have one pill every six hours, but I have only need two pills in about a months time. Please do ask your doctor about this. Pain can be so debilitating, and life is too short not to be able to enjoy it without hurting all the time. It does contain a narcotic, but check it out on Google, then with your doctor. I was told that pain prohibits healing. We were not meant to endure constant pain Hal.

Larry, At one time I was told to limit my water intake to six cups a day, then later a new med was added and I was told to drink LOTS of liquid, so I guess it depends on what medications are given, and what the frequent blood tests tell them. I am determined to do what is comfortable to me, since they can't seem to make up their medical minds.  At my age, I intend to enjoy the day that God has given me.

Carol, don't give up on yourself. Our minds need to just close down now and then to sort out all the "stuff" we have stored up there. I forget so much stuff..even what day it is, that's why we have calendars. I have reached the point in life that I don't let it bother me…what difference does it really make.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

angelface555

Interesting;

"If you order a chicken sandwich at Subway, you're not eating exactly what you think you're eating. In an investigation, a CBC Marketplace analysis of poultry from six popular grilled chicken and sandwich wraps found that the chicken at Subway isn't entirely made of chicken. A DNA researcher at Trent University Wildlife Forensic DNA Laboratory tested the meat and found that the "oven-roasted chicken" was only 57 percent chicken, while the "chicken strips" contained only 43 percent chicken. The rest of the meat was made up of mostly soy.

When you buy chicken from the grocery store, you're most likely eating a product with 100 percent chicken DNA. According to the study, that percentage decreases when the meat is processed, seasoned, or marinated, making it likely that most fast food chicken contains a lower percentage of chicken DNA. However, other fast food chains' chicken offerings scored significantly higher on the tests than Subway. McDonald's Country Chicken scored 85 percent, A&W's Chicken Grill Deluxe 89 percent, Tim Horton's Chipotle Chicken Grilled Wrap 87 percent, and Wendy's Grilled Chicken sandwich 89 percent."

JoanFL

angelface--I saw a blurb on TV about Subway's chicken subs.

June--Yes this is Ash Wednesday.  I didn't go to church for ashes because I have been sick all week.
