Good night Janie and all. I was in bed by seven thirty...just plain old tired out. So I have read and rested and ready to finish the "getting ready for bed" chores, and then back to bed and book again. Nothing happening till afternoon tomorrow so my morning is free and easy.

I'm saying a prayer that all of you on the East coast area will be safe from the forecasted storm, and that tomorrow will find all of us hale and hearty and happy. Hugs, Love and more prayers. June
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Doctor Visit

A man came to the emergency room with a series of long, jagged tear marks on his cheek and neck, as though he had been clawed by some large animal.

"What happened to you?" asked the doctor who was examining him.

"Chain saw accident," the man replied.

"Well, you're lucky," the doctor said; "I've seen worse."

"It wasn't turned on," the man replied.

Food For Thought

How Are You Listening?
By Arthur Schoonveld
Scripture Reading: Luke 8:4-9

Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.
Luke 8:9
When I was growing up, our family often discussed the sermon after a Sunday worship service. One of our parents usually asked a question like “What did you think of the pastor’s message?” The same question is still asked in many homes today. This is important because we gather for worship to hear what the Lord has to say to us.
Now, here’s an equally important question: “How were the listeners this morningâ€"did they listen well?” According to the Lord Jesus, listening is crucially important: “Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.” Or, as Jesus says after telling another parable, “Consider carefully how you listen” (Luke 8:18).
Listening to God’s Word is a tremendous privilege, but it’s also a great responsibility. And someday you and I as hearers of God’s Word will have to give account for how we have listened and what we have done with what we have heard.
Listening can be difficult. After preaching for almost 50 years, I am discovering that listening is often more difficult than teaching or preaching. Again and again I find myself critiquing and even criticizing what I have heard instead of asking, “What did I hear the Lord say to me? How will it affect my life? What am I going to do about what I have heard?” That’s what really matters. In the words of the apostle James, we must become doers of God’s Word as well as hearers (James 1:22).
Holy Spirit, teach us how to listen, and help us to become doers of your Word. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

An old geezer became very bored in retirement and decided to open a medical clinic.

He put a sign up outside that said: "Dr. Geezer's clinic. Get your treatment for $500, if

not cured, get back $1,000."

Doctor "Young," who was positive that this old geezer didn't know beans about medicine,

thought this would be a great opportunity to get $1,000. So he went to Dr. Geezer's clinic.

Dr. Young: "Dr. Geezer, I have lost all taste in my mouth. Can you please help me ??"

Dr. Geezer: "Nurse, please bring medicine from box 22 and put 3 drops in Dr. Young's mouth."
Dr. Young: Aaagh !! -- "This is Gasoline!"

Dr. Geezer: "Congratulations!

You've got your taste back. That will be $500.

Dr. Young gets annoyed and goes back after a couple of days figuring to recover his money.

Dr. Young: "I have lost my memory, I cannot remember anything."

Dr. Geezer: "Nurse, please bring medicine from box 22 and put 3 drops in the patient's mouth."

Dr. Young: "Oh, no you don't, -- that is Gasoline!"

Dr. Geezer: "Congratulations! You've got your memory back . That will be $500."

Dr. Young (after having lost $1000) leaves angrily and comes back after several more days.

Dr. Young: "My eyesight has become weak --- I can hardly see anything!!!!"
Dr. Geezer: "Well, I don't have any medicine for that so,

" Here's your $1000 back." (giving him a $10 bill)
Dr. Young: "But this is only $10!"
Dr. Geezer: "Congratulations! You got your vision back! That will be $500."

Moral of story -- Just because you're "Young" doesn't mean that you can outsmart an "old Geezer"

Remember: Don't make old people mad. We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to tick us off.

ENJOY YOUR DAY !!

Hi everyone.  It is a windy, sunny and chilly morning.  The high today will be only in the mid-50's and it is to get to 33 degrees tonight and then will begin to warm up over the next few days.  As far as I know now this will be my typical Thursday, i.e., pick up friend and go to coffee and then take friend home and then go to the Church for the Wisdom group.  That will be it for today other than needing to fix a batch of sausage muffins for Pat.  I have put everything together this morning so Pat can quickly cook her breakfast of scrambled eggs.  I had to cut up a new package of green onions as we had used up all we had. We did have a good dinner at church last night and then a nice visit with Scott and Jennifer afterwards.

Gloria, we just didn't have other options than the rabbit ears or antennae on the roofs.  I am sure Tom Brady's wife is concerned he will be hurt and the dangers of the concussions.  He obviously doesn't need to play for the money.

JaneS, you actually beat me by several years in using the online bill pay.  I don't mind keeping records as was trained as an accountant.  However, I use a simple procedure.  I expect we are all with you on not liking to pay and would like to hold on to more of our money each month.

Patricia, our daughter used to have to pay her rent by money order the last two years.  The apartment house she had lived in would accept checks. The problem with that is having to get out to a bank or store that sells money orders.  Fortunately for her there was a bank about a block away that she could easily access in her wheelchair.

Amy, it is too bad they won't allow you to simply bring a list of the medications.  I have done that for years before moving here along with a brief medical history.  Now most of our doctors are a part of the University Medical System and they have access to a list of our medications and just review them with us.

Hal, glad that ordeal is over for your wife and that all is well.

Gloria

Good morning everyone, well the snow has started already, not much yet but schools are cancelled and many business closed for the day. Yesterday the weather forecast was for up to 12 inched of snow and now they are saying up to 18 inches of it. Just a storm that was normal years ago before the global warming(?) On local news they said in Conn. They have had thunder snow.

JANE  just think how much $$ we could have if we had no bills to pay. I only write 2 checks a month so when I order new checks they last for a long time.

PATRICIA  hope today finds you feeling better.

AMY  that ice crust on the snow is horrible.  Several years ago every time it snowed we hare freezing rain on top of it, made it hard to shovel and even use a snow blower on it.

HAL glad your wife came through the surgery so good. When I first looked out this morning there was a bit more than a dusting of snow on the ground and now it is starting to add up.

JUNE  the snow is already adding up on the ground here. Glad I am home and not out driving.

JOAN  a cheese Danish will taste so good this morning. Hope the man in Chuckles never turns that chain saw on. Thank you for today's goodies.

AMY  safe travels today.

LLOYD  love your Geezer joke.

LARRY  I dpubt Tom Brady needs more moneyb to survive.

Good Morning Everyone...
I am just sitting here waiting for the "Big Storm"  to come rolling in....     I always love it when we have blizzards,  as long as I don't  have to go out in it...   Here I can sit a watch the cars slowly creep by my Windows to the World.       I see that the snow  has finally arrived.

Have a good day,  everyone.

Jane, much of West Michigan, especially around Grand Rapids and to Lake Michigan, is of Dutch descent, so Johanna is a common name around here.  James and Alicia live in Holland, so she will be right at home in more ways than one.

Tom has some pictures and James put some on Facebook and the girls both are using CPAPs and it is hard to see two little girls in all of the contraptions but they're breathing and that's what counts.  All I know is they both have red hair although James expects it will be lighter in time.  His hair was carrot color when young but is now more auburn.  Alicia's hair is more carrot color.

Good morning, Larry.  It's supposed to get to the 80s here today, but they say tomorrow we'll be lucky to get to 70°.

Gloria--Good morning.  Linda had to work in NYC on Monday and then went Monday night to work in Boston.  Now she's stuck in Boston and has no idea when she'll be able to get a flight home.

Good morning Sandy.  Another "whatever floats your boat".  I had all the blizzards I ever care to see when we lived in Central NY.

Mary Ann--Good morning.  I couldn't see details in that picture of the twins--but tiny lives like that are amazing.

Mary Ann

Joan, I have not seen a good picture of either of the girls.  Tom e-mailed me a picture that showed Alicia holding one of the girls, which, I am sure, thrilled her.  Tom is going to see them in person today and I don't know when or if I'll see them, at least until they go home next month.  I'm so thankful they weighed what they did because it is much in their favor.  I am not on Facebook so can't see what they put there.

Good afternoon, I am now in the middle of a blizzard, I cannot see out of any of the windows, nor can I open the front or back door. I did have a little chest pain this morning, I took a nitro and now I am feeling better. I think it is the stress of the storm. The weatherman keeps talking about and show the west end of the island, but no mention of the twin forks. Iam on the North Fork of Long Island.

I am glad I was able to get out yesterday to the hematologist  , last week Medicare said I could not get the shot for my blood, till I had my iron checked, Yesterday iron was fine, I got there at 12:15 and the lab tech. started calling Medicare to get the OK, it was after 1, before he could get through to them. I am glad they took my BP first, and it was a little high then.

MaryAnn, my DIL in Fla. name is Johanna (which I think sounds so pretty. She was born in Austria, but she likes to be called JoANN. We also have Johanna our cyber friend from SC.  By the way, Toby my cat that I had before Taffy, always like to play with the TP in the one bathroom.  I think the airduct blew it around.

Joan, thanks for goodies.

I just hope I do not lose power, as we are having strong winds. I guess I will just have to get in bed and pull the covers up, of course leave the water running, as it is to go in the low teens to night.

Hal, I am glad to read the operation is over.

Sandy, there is no problem with copying the pictures, after all, James put them on Facebook, which has an open door.  Thank you for posting the link because I don't know how to post pictures (and I'm not going to learn!) so I have to rely on others.  You did a good job.

Joan, as long as the girls have all of that paraphernalia on them, no one will get a good picture.  Norm's other great-granddaughter was one year last week and like Sandy's Fe, she has a great smile.  I don't know how Paula posts on Facebook, but I know she does, so if someone wants to look up Paula (or Eric) Mertins, or possibly Paula Harrington, there should be a picture of Avery there.  When/if the parents post pictures on Facebook, the pictures are available to any one.  I can hardly wait until they're free of all of the gear so I can see what they really look like.

Gloria D, I am so sorry you're in the midst of a storm.  If it's any consolation, the sun is shining here, but it's cold for 1 pm - 18 degrees.  I hope you don't have any more chest pain and I can see how the storm with all of its uncertainties could cause the pain.

I like the name Johanna too but I'll probably call her Jo.  We'll see what nicknames both girls get because James said nicknames will be accepted (with Tom and Sue, it was to be James, not Jim, and I started calling him Jamie which is still in use by some of us).

I think, too, that the motion of the TP from the heat from the register is what interested the cat.  This morning everything was intact.

Mary Ann

JoanFL

Linedancer--I pray that you stay safe and don't lose power in that blizzardly weather.  Getting in bed and pulling the covers over your head until it's over is a good idea.:)

Mary Ann--I know all the paraphernalia on the girls makes them look so very fragile, but that's what's helping them to get stronger.

This snow is now officially called a blizzard. I know I have seen it blowing off the roof.  This town actually made the news today at noon. We had 8 inches of it then and it is still falling heavily. Maintenance man has cleared the walkways about every half hour and 5 minutes later you can not tell they were cleared. Non of the cars in the parking lot have moved.

JOAN  so many flights have been cancelled here and in Boston so will be some time before planes will arrive or leave.

SANDY  thanks for the link. Are you enjoying looking out at the snow falling? I sure am and glad I do not have to be out in it.

GLORIA  de  if I had to go out and shovel I would dread it but I can sit in the window and just enjoy the beauty of the falling snow.

MARY ANN  the temperature on my computer says 30° and overcast. It is closer to 20° and snowing. With the windchill it will feel much colder.

In Providence some areas lost power. Hope we don't.

Click for Harrisville, Rhode Island Forecast

Gloria--I hope you don't lose power.  Don't they have a back up generator there?  Linda is not a happy camper, but nothing she can do to get out of Boston.  The airline told her she might get on a flight Sat. or Sun.

I was in early today, and thought I posted a message, but I must have been half asleep, as I find no message.

From what I read, they weren't kidding when they said it would be a bad storm on the East Coast.

Gloria, I am glad you are enjoying the sights from your window to the world outside. You are in a safe, snug place and I'm happy for you.

Gloria de, I am praying that you will keep snug in your home and not lose electricity. You have the right idea though..going to bed and covering up your head. I recall doing that during some of our Minnesota winters.

Sandy, Your daughter Kelly is a beautiful lady, and that picture of her and Fe and the pup is adorable. You are a lucky lady for sure.

I woke with leg pain this morning and it sure hasn't gotten any better. I took two Tylenol double strength and it doesn't seem to touch the pain. So I will just stay home and grin and bear it. If it starts driving me nuts, I'll call down for a percocet. That really knocks the pain for a loop.

Our weather is just great. Fog this morning but sun comes and goes to keep it cheerful.

As long as we are here, let's dance.

We have warmed up from the minus sixes to the plus sixes and lows are still in the mid teens. Yesterday we had snow, the skies and everything was pure white. Now with the skies clearing, more blue showing, we will probably drop again.

I feel for those of you in the path of these storms. We don't have blizzards here, no real humidity for them to form, but I can see how frightening they must be.

I'm still ill with this blasted sinus, still guzzling the hot tea with honey and lemon. Although there have been times when I've wished for some whiskey to make a hot toddy, especially if I'm still awake in the early hours!

That's hard to do since I haven't had a drink since the fourth of July, 2010! But I think perhaps later; I might restock!

June, I'm sorry you're having so much pain in that leg. Maybe one of the nurses might reevaluate it?

halkel

:dancingdog:  Talk to you later.  Working on computer and trying to figure if I have a virus.

JoanFL

June--If the pain is that intense, why not ask for a Percocet?

angelface--I am really story you are still sick?  Maybe you need a visit to your doctor?

halkel--I sure hope your computer doesn't have a virus.

Good evening, wind is still blowing, but storm has finally stopped. At 7 a man came to the door, and asked if he could shovel a path. he only charged 30 others were charging 50. he even offered to put down ice melt As far as I can see he did a good job. I do not feel trapped in here  Not being able to open the door made me kind of stressed. I have had calls and email from my neighbors

Patricia I hope you start feeling better soon.

June, i also feel badly for you, have leg pain again. Hope the nurse was able to help you.

Gloria, this is one time I wish I was in a place like yours, and not have to worry about away to get out.
