Joan, not sure how its going to pan out as plumber gave us 11.am'ish its just turned, carpet man phoned this morning said it will be a late afternoon, electrician still hasnt shown, but were told he will be on site today, we have yet to to meet him, but he is aware its light fittings....In the midst of all this R is still planning on going out to do a usual Friday shop...not sure it is sinking in that we both have to clear the office of furniture before his arrival,( and the office table stands on four solid thick metal legs,...) so not knowing what time he will be here, R will be taking a risk, but there is no telling R....R does what R wants to do, and if that means he is out when he comes and its left to me..... ::)

Ha ha, we have only just opened up our boxed ceiling lights and done a quick check, nothing damaged or broken...

Been on our tv news about the five police officers shootings in Dallas...

Amy

Good morning everyone.

Gosh it is hot and muggy here..we need rain,a good thunderstorm will clear the air.
We are off to the nurse this morning then it is a wait and see , I do hope everything will be fine and we don't have to head back to her or to the hospital.

June, I agree with Shirley, just take it easy and I am thankful you didn't break any bones!!

Jackie, your day will go by fast with all the happenings going on.

Joan, thank you for breakfast..

Enjoy your day everyone.

Amy, sending positive vibes that this journey will be a one off....

JaneS

Good Morning Everyfriend!  And a special "Good Morning" to you Joanie.  Thanks for the goodies today.  I loved the chuckle!

Oh my goodness!  Sun is back!  We sure did miss you while you were gone!

And June!  Don't be embarrassed by falling!  We all do it!  I wasn't paying attention one day and tripped over Mickie in the dark hall.  Fortunately, I didn't hit anything on the way down, it was carpet and Mickie scooted so I didn't fall on her.  I remember thinking, "I'm sure glad none of the kids saw that or they'd think I've become a KLUTZ in my old age".  I've learned to turn on the hall light as soon as the hall begins to darken.

I'll be off to WM to meet my public this morning.  And, hopefully, it will be raining when I come home.  The weather prediction is that it will begin around noon and showers will continue off and on until around 8 p.m.  That would be very good!  Everything is getting dry. On the plus side of that, I haven't had to pay for grass cutting for 3 weeks now.

Shirley, sometimes we just don't get what we expect.  My VW Golf is in it's 17th year now (I bought it in May of 2000) and if I divided all the expenses by 16 it would have cost me under $100 a year to run.  Not so bad!  I hope you soon get all your problems resolved and you can enjoy your travels.

Amy, I hope all goes well for you and hubby today!  It's about time things mesh for you.  I also wish you a nice thunderstorm!

I wish Everyfriend a lovely day filled with everything you love!  Enjoy!

Well now almost 12 noon, no sign as yet of Plumber, he is now one hour late......Electrician just left after popping in to see us for the first time, he is off to work on another job, cant fit us in till next Tuesday, says is 8.15 am alright, I said yes, it is with me, not sure it is with R.....anyway 8.15 it is..........Think now might be the time to disconnect our computer, move the heavy office desk out, just hope we can get it out through the door, its going to be a tight squeeze, I took measurements yesterday...guess that's why previous home owners left that behind for us....Think R is just itching to get out and do his shop, of course his shop usually takes him ages, knowing my luck, carpet man will turn up earlier than expected...He also has to saw off some door underneath...

JoanFL

Jackie-Vanilla--You sure have many things to coordinate.  I know you will be glad when all the work is done.

Good morning Amy.  We need rain here desperately, too.  I hope your trip today will be the end of having to run back and forth.

Janie--Good morning.  Glad you liked the chuckle.  Guess we've all fallen a time or two.  A couple days ago I dropped some pills on the floor.  When I bent over to get them I fell on my butt and couldn't get up from that position.  I had to scooch over to the computer chair and use that to pull myself up.  Not a pretty site.:)

Good morning everyone, turned the TV on and heard about the shooting in Dallas. Sure a lot of crazy people in the world today. What happened to the life we had in our country. So much violence every place these days. Sure glad I do not live in a big city but even small towns are having crimes these days. So sad. Woke  after a good night's sleep and now wish I had not turned the TV on. It was foggy over night and still pretty foggy.

JANE  wish I could get Jag, that was one program I enjoyed, even the reruns, good cast, too.

AMY  sad that the medical profession these days does not do things to make it easy for patients and their families. Hope today is better for your husband and you.

SHIRLEY  sure is frustrating when you purchase something in good faith and then find it is not half as good as they claim it is. You have had nothing but problems with that RV like me with this PC. Wish I could trade this for a different one. The storm we had yesterday did not lower the humidity, made it worse.

SUN welcome back. So good seeing you this morning. Taking a long time for your hand to heal. Just seeing you say hello lets us know you are OK.

HAL  how many cans of air freshener did it take to get the smell out of the house and your wife's car?

JUNE  glad you did not get hurt when you fell. Please be careful. We want you to enjoy your home for years to come.

SHIRLEY  had to laugh at you telling your husband he gear down. That you do not apply to yourself. You are always into doing something. Time for you to gear down. Take out your easel and paints, a canvas and start painting again.

JACKIE  good luck with all those workmen showing up at the same time. They would be in each others way. Oh you do not want to get the smell of skunk, terrible.

JOAN  for all the years Toaster Strudel has been around I never had one. Maybe I should actually buy some to have a taste?  Of course I love cherry. Smart  way to cover a missing license plate. Who would want to pull a car over with that showing on the back. Food for Thought is so true. Nothing around us is quiet. Even at night all the electronics we have with their lights that never go off there is never real darkness any more. When asked why they are moving into the boonies in Arizona my daughter tells those who ask â€" to get away from the rat race and have peace and quiet. They can hear a car coming from miles away but then they have jets flying over pretty low at times. No escaping. Good quote. Reminds me of watching a video by Bob Ross, he has said while doing a painting, “there is no mistakes, just happy accidents.” Thank you for all today's goodies.

AMY  the thunder storm we had yesterday did not clear the air at all, made it worse. Good luck today with the medical visit.

JANE  how many articles have you read about those of us “of a certain age” should never try walking in the dark? Of course if I left the shades up at night I would never have to turn a light on. So many lights on the front of this building and in the parking lot it is almost as bright as daylight in here. This area had the most rain in the state with yesterday's storm. Had over 2 inches of it. II had my Chevy Corsica for 20 years before the under carriage started rusting away. Nothing wrong with the engine or the body. Other that tires and battery I never spent much on that car.

JOAN  with my shoulders the way they are I doubt I could pull myself up if I fell.

Good morning, Gloria.  The incidents in Dallas are tragic.  When Regina and her husband move, they will at least get away from big city hassle.  I remember Bob Ross saying that many times.  I guess if I fell and could not get up I'd have to use my Lifeline button.

I've been in touch with my daughter who lives in the Dallas suburbs and works in Dallas.  She said that it was a protest of some kind involving police and that since she's not a cop, she's safe.  I told her to make sure she's not an "innocent victim in the line of fire".  She also said that she doesn't go that far downtown.  I breathed a sigh of relief and a Thank You Go!

I'm off to Wally World!

Hi everyone.  We are headed back up to 100 degrees this afternoon.  Nothing on the schedule for today so will just take it easy.  However, Pat just mentioned that we need to go to a fruit stand and get some of the fresh South Carolina peaches so we will do this after she eats her breakfast.

Three of the four little birds left the nest as of this morning and I expect the other one will by tomorrow morning.

Jackie and Joan, we had two houses built next to us since we moved here and the noise wasn't bad.  This new house is across the street and down just a bit.  The nice thing is I can see what is going on whereas with the houses next to me I couldn't see unless I went on my porch. It is almost impossible to get the computer cables wrong as they are different shapes and some are color coded.

Carol, I will not donate via a phone call.

Sun, so glad to see your message appear.  You have been missed.

Hal, good thinking to put the smelly dog in your wife's car.   ;D ;D

June, sure hope you will not be feeling the bad effect of your fall.

Shirley, you wouldn't be half as interesting if you had become the "dignified little old lady".  I like you just as you are and you are an inspiration as are many others who post here.

Jackie, the shootings in Dallas are despicable. It is our right as citizens to peacefully protest but this is plain murder and is occurring much too often.

Gloria, I am with you in being glad I don't live in a big city or population area anymore.  They print the police blotter in our North Augusta newspaper and most often it is about DUI's or shop lifting.  However, Augusta does have quite a bit of crime and has had several shooting and  murders since we moved here.

JoanFL

Good morning, Larry.  It's too be another torrid day here, too.  Well, since the new construction is on the other side of the street, you can keep on eye on them.:)  Seems those little birdies grew up fast.

Back from seeing the nurse...what a gem she is!!! She did the procedure in the clinic.........by flashlight..we heard power was off in town so I took a flashlight with me. Now to wait and see if all goes well.

They say we are to get a dandy storm and it does look as though we may but no rain yet..

Sun,good to see you here.

Glooria, I would hope this is the last but as we age if it wasn't for Dr.'s appointments we wouldn't go anywhere!

Good Morning all, I was awakened early today by a light knock on my door. The cutest little nurse was here to take my pulse and blood pressure. All because I fell yesterday. I don't know what country she is from, but she has darker skin, Her head was wrapped in a lovely pink scarf, she was tiny and slender and pretty. And I told her so. She was so pleased. Then I dozed off again till 7 when my house keeper arrived…..time to have the bed changed for the week, and she will return later to clean the bathroom. So I figured I may as well get the
"show on the road".

Tisie, thank you for thinking of me. I know I should slow down, my brain knows it, but the body still has a mind of it's own. I feel fine, not too sore, one tiny bruise where my hip bone took the brunt of the fall. I have orders to USE THE WALKER at all times, even to cross the floor. So I will obey. As I lay on the floor, my thought was, June, how would you like a broken hip, so that will stick with me while I learn to act my age.

Jackie, this Life Line they have us wear constantly, records downstairs at the clinic, so if you knock yourself unconscious they are still aware you have fallen. They surely do take good care of us here.

Bis, another lesson learned……use the walker ! I'm O.K., thanks be to God. Thank you dear.

Amy, I am praying that you will get good news today. It is no easy on DH having to travel when he doesn't feel well, and you suffer right along with him. God Bless you both.

Sun, I am so very happy to see you posting again, and I pray your hands are healing very well. You have been very patient, and we have missed you so much. I am sending you big hugs.

Janie, may you have an easy day at WM., and may the customers bring you some big smiles in return for all those you give away. The Nurse is obliged to notify Gary when I do something dumb like falling, so I had a nice concerned call from him…..while I was downstairs playing volleyball…..chair volleyball that is. I think it made him happy to know I recovered that quickly.

Bis, when I am on the floor, I roll over to my hands and knees and then push myself up. I think you would find it easier to crawl than to scootch.  I think !! I could be wrong. We are all built differently.

We are having another cloudy morning which I love. Sun comes popping up around noon, till them I have my windows opened to the cool air. My neighbor depends on her A/C, but I prefer the outside air as long as possible.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

halkel

Good Morning Everyone!

Just back from the eye doctor.  Had a field vision test and will have an appointment in August to get results.  Not much they can do anyhow with Glaucoma. I am getting more like June, at our age I am no sure test do much of anything but line the doc's pocket and inconvenience us.

June, please do be careful.  You got lucky this time, next time it could be a hip or something else.  Man in our bible study just took a fall in his garage and broke his hip.

Jackie, hope everyone gets their job done right and gets out of your hair.

Amy, hope hubby is doing okay.

Dallas shootings.

JeanneP

Jackie.
Now when you moved into this new house did you expect that it needed so much doing to it. Seems it has been going on for 2 months.  You must have more patience. I can't stand things torn up anymore. O.K on doing on the outside but not indoors. I keep thinking I should move but would have to be in perfect condition before I moved in.
I am really good doing most construction. My father taught me a lot and I worked in around it for 20 years. Hard to watch the men doing anything now. So slow. Don't show up to time. Do a half arse job when they come. Hope you get through soon. Enjoy some summer.
JeanneP

JoanFL

June--IF I can't get up again, I'll try your method.  PLEASE do use your walker.  You sure don't want to break a hip and end up in rehab.

halkel--I'm due to have my eyes examined, but have been procrastinating.  I've been watching ABC, and they've had several Special Reports about the Dallas shootings.

JeanneP--I am no handyman/woman so have no choice but to call workmen for needed repairs.

All is back to normal......Bath panel fitter came an hour late....unknown to us who put in the wrong coloured bath panel, before we had chance to see it, as I was with the dogs, trying to quieten Toby....The panel is fine, just a darker grained wood....The son was the one who fitted it, his father popped by an hour ago to inspect work and to offer us some money off but, instead he done us a favour as the bathroom carpet was now causing the door to scrape over it and needed some sawing from underneath, as the plumber company also do maintenance work he offered to take the door off its hinges, took it outside the front, sawed some off, then refitted it, now it glides perfectly over the new carpet.....he didnt charge us anything for doing it....As for the today's office carpet, we only had that fitted because there was more than enough carpet left over from the bathroom, it made sense to make use of it....
We now have new fitted carpet in the office, at last that stops me whizzing back in our office chair...frit the living daylights out of Benji once, he was behind me, so when I went to sit down, the office chair zoomed back with me just about on it....I always thought, one day this chair will go without me....

Jeanne P, just one more thing needs doing and that are the living room ceiling lights, they will get done Tuesday.....Oh no, we wasn't expecting so much work to be done when we took over this home, what with the outside wall dampness work, and repainting using the correct parkhome paint, then there was the bathroom flooding, of which we got plumber to put in a brand new shower in my en-suite....Without the flooding I wouldn't have gotten that, nor the new bath panel, the white old plastic panel was already split, this wooden one is solid.....

Junedrabek, just a question but, how does your " lifeline.." differentiate between a fall and, if I remember you once telling us that you daily get yourself down on the floor and get yourself up again, just so that you know if you fall you can do it....Just wondering how the " lifeline " would know the difference of you down on the floor or falling down on the floor...does it pick up on speed?.... Hope this doesn't come across as a daft question.... :-[

JoanFL

Vanilla-Jackie--Finally you are seeing the "light at the end of the tunnel" with getting all the scheduled work completed.  Once those ceiling lights are installed seems you should be done.

Joan, yes hopefully in the home but.....I have a few personal things now to tick off.....I still need to find and settle into a church.....I need to book my annual eyes testing, more important now I have MS, and I am now overdue......And of course my hospital urinary bleed is next Wednesday, I really have no Idea of where this is going to lead....
I would like to say after all that we can all get on with our lives, relax and all enjoy ourselves but our Benji still has cancer....not a cancer we can sort....

Denver

A Friday HELLO from Vail Colorado.  I am sitting on the deck of our sons home listening to the stream and enjoying the cool air.  We drove up this morning.  We planned to be here Sunday or Monday after Lola Dog went home to her family, however Vail Son's dog sitter seems to have left the earth and he was in dire need for care taker as he and grandson's we leaving for a yearly camping trip and the doggies are not included.  Once again, GrandBob and Nana to the rescue !  No complaints....it is just beautiful here and the doggies all get along, so we hope to make it a restful/enjoyable time.

Bob's root canal went fine and he has had a minimal amount of pain.  Daytime is good, but it gets to bothering him in the middle of the night.

JEANNE LEE, so good to read that you are home.  Take it easy and enjoy the sofa.

JACKIE, I am sure happy to see that things did get accomplished today and it did not become a problem for you with the Internet!   The mamma that owns this house is in London right now but will fly back sometime on Saturday.  Sure wish I were with her and we could meet up again!

JUNE, sorry to read about you fall but so happy you got help right away and did not hurt yourself too badly.

AMY, I have continued good thoughts and prayers for you and DH.  Glad that you liked the medical person and we're pleased with everything, but still sad that you had to drive to them!

SHIRLEY, I am so sorry for all the problems that you new motor coach has caused you...it is absolutely ridiculous the issues you have had to deal with.

SUN, how wonderful it is to see your post...we have all missed you and looked forward to your return.

Hubby is ready to go get us a bite to eat and I can not resist...we will go to our favorite German Resturant for some of their " low calorie" food!  I always have Schnitzel  and of course a nice German Bier!  It is rather expensive at night and we love to sit out on the patio area, so lunch time is our favorite time to go.

Enjoy your day, EVERYFRIEND.  Thank you for the last 2 days of goodies, JOAN.

Jenny, if you were ever lucky to come over again, our door will always be open to you....you and Bob will be more than welcome.....This is a lovely part of the country, I am sure if or when you see it, you just might not want to leave.....

JoanFL

Jackie-Vanilla--Now that you have most of the necessary work done to your home, you can concentrate on getting your medical appointments taken care of.  And you also can give Benji lots of loving.

Jenny--You and Bob enjoy your time in Vail while you are dog sitting.  Glad Bob's root canal went well.  Wasn't he given anything for pain?  Enjoy your German meal.

Our lunch was WONDERFUL! I was able to ride around in my cart and enjoy the views.  Now we're are back home and I feel like I could use a nap!

JOAN, they just told him to take ibuprofen and it takes the edge off for him.  He probably should take more than he is taking but he doesn't want to.  I think the night pain is associated with dry mouth from open mouth sleeping...

JACKIE, I sure would like to take you up on that offer to visit!  If only!  Maybe some day.  I am sure we would love it and would not want to leave.

JOAN  I still watch Bob Toss on local PBS on Friday at 8. Just turned that channel on. Tonight he is doing a painting of the northern lights.

JANE  I imagine you were worried about your daughter in Dallas. When I hear about another shooting or stabbing in Providence I think about how different it is now than when I lived there.

LARRY  we have a few peach orchards here and the farm I like always has some local peaches, much tastier than those in markets. With so many new people in this town at times there is news that I am surprised happens here. Even this quiet town has built up a lot since I moved here 65 years ago.

AMY  are you finished with gong to see the nurse yet? Hope you hubby is doing better now. Like you, about the only time I get out is to the doctor or the dentist although I am invited to my great grandson's first birthday party.

JUNE  I take very few steps without my rollator and if I do I make sure I have something to hold on to. I sure do not want to fall.

HAL  what is a field vision test? Never hear that before.  I am sure it is not going outside and looking around a field.

JACKIE  that happened to me once, went to sit on the computer chair and with wood floors it moved and I sat on the floor. My some was upstairs and had to pick me up. Now when I go to sit in that chair I make sure I am holding onto both arm rests.

JENNY  sounds like a little bit of heaven at your son's Vail home. I would enjoy sitting there in the peace and quiet and listening to that steam running by.

Nice and cool tonight no AC running just the fan in the bedroom window. Should sleep good tonight and I hope all of you do, too.

Hi GLORIA

Like you my walker is getting more use . I never want to fall again so use it constantly.  Fresh peaches sound great.

Mary Ann

Junee, I know it is the wrong time of the year now, but in summer and fall, do you have fruit farms near you where you can buy direct?

Mary Ann

Denver

Oh, GLORIA, I sure wish you could be here....the mountain sides are spectacular.  Everything is so green.  There is a waterfall across the street and at night you can hear it from the bedroom...so peaceful.    Right now I have a blanket wrapped around me...when the sun goes behind the peaks it turns chilly FAST.  I think you would ðŸ'— being here!  We sure do and it is just less than 2 hours from our home.

Pleasant dreams to all.

Gloria, they sit you in a chair with you chin on a rest with one eye covered and stare at a little light in the center of a white background and small lights flash randomly in the white background and when you see one of these lights flash you press a small device you hold in your hand.  Then they repeat the process for he other eye.  Suppose to show where you are losing peripheral.  Like a game.

Went out to cracker barrel for supper tonight with my oldest, it was good.  Meat loaf for me.  Anyhow, off to bed.  Nite, nite, God Bless.
