I'm wondering now if I have run out of gas as far as my acting career is concerned.  My last 3 auditions have borne no success, so maybe it's time to move on to something different

Jenny--What a fun time caring for the grandchildren.  I envy you.

Radioman--Maybe it's just time to take a break from acting.

Sandy--That's good advice.

donklan--Surprised to see that type of impersonation at an eighth grade graduation.

"The PHAROAH" landed last night right on time at Charlotte, NC airport, took a Taxi and arrived home about 7:30 p.m.  He looked fine and our neighbor next door came over immediately with a delicious looking Cantaloupe as a welcome gift.  He came in, chatted for a couple of minutes and then left.  Mohamed rested last night, but said he did not sleep until about 3:30 this morning - trying to get used to the time differences.  He's had a good day, enjoying all the fresh food I had for him AND went to one of our local stress today and bought some more fresh veggies and fruit, meat and other treats.  I think he'll have a good few days here before he travels to Maryland to visit some dear friends and get a Medical check-up and re-new his medical prescriptions.  Another friend called and they had a good chat on the phone.  Thanks to all Friends here for keeping Mohamed in prayers.  They are much appreciated!

Gloria

PATRICIA  seldom hear sirens around here. When an ambulance pulls in here they come in silent, no sirens. That is great in a place like this.

JOAN  you know for me anything with apples is good except bought applesauce. Too used to home made. I dislike any kind of bug. There was a thing on the news about these caterpillars, that the hairs on them can cause a rash if the get on your skin.  Glad my CNA  saw the one on my shirt before it got on my neck. Don't need anything more to bother me.

AMY  turmeric is one of those spices we should all include in our food. I use some in my oatmeal in the morning.

DON  darn, not fair you got turned down for roles. I bet you would have been better than the ones they did pick.

DONKLAN I caught a little of that on the news but not the whole thing. That youngster is good. Thanks for the link.

MOLLY  glad Mohamed arrived safely.

Looks like it was quiet in here today.  Think I will close early ad see if there is anything on YV worth watching. Have a good night everyone.

Molly - I'm happy to hear Mohammed made it home safely. His inner clock must be all mixed up!

Jackie - I am so sorry about Benji. That is heartbreaking news!

Jenny - Have fun with the grands!

Amy - What a nightmare experience for your friend.   It's a shame they couldn't have taken care of everything at one time.

Larry - Chape has had his pacemaker replaced once. He got it in 2009 and they replaced it last year. At first they said the battery would last about 10 years, but he is what they call "pacemaker dependent". At 98%, you are also! They also added another wire to his.  He said this new one regulates his heart much better.

Joan - I hope it's cooling off a little down your way.

June Drabek

Went down for the Balance and mobility class today and we have grown so much in number, the chairs had to be staggered so we wouldn't bump one another as we exercised. We always have a good time, with lots of laughs and joking. I tired quickly once I got home, so put on my p.j.'s so I would not be tempted to go out again. Had some emails to answer and now thinking about having a light supper. I had a huge lunch and still full, but i really need to put on some weight.

Gloria, they turn off the sirens here too when an ambulance is called. I agree that it is a good plan. It could disturb too many folks. I always order small cups of Motts apple sauce, and I enjoy it. You can buy it with or without cinnamon, so I switch back and forth. I have never used tumeric..would not know how it tastes. What is it good for ?

Don, it may be time to slow down in your various activities. Are you planning to do Santa Claus this winter ? That could be a bit too strenuous also. I hate it when I run short of breath, and my legs cramp up when I dance, so I have to cut back now.

Jenny, You and Bob are so great in stepping in to watch the little ones. I hope it is not too tiring for either of you. I no longer trust myself to carry or reach for a little baby. I sit and let my Grandson hand our youngest to me. I am so glad that Michelle is well enough to travel . God heard our prayers.

Beverly, like so many medical things, I am sure the pacemakers are improved over time also. I'm glad your husband is well taken care of.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

The building I live in is on the outer north side of town. There are police, fire and ambulance sirens, planes going over, a park carillon one block over, chiming the half and full hour, as well as a train going past on the left, three blocks over and on the right, nine blocks over every four hours and whistling. Believe me, a siren has no need to mute its noise in the city side parking lot.
Fairbanks is a huge transportation/shipping hub for the majority of the state, western Canada, Asia, and Siberia. There is some type of movement 24/7.

Radioman34

June/Joan you are probably right; it's time to slow down or even stop all together. I have a lifetime of memories to sustain me.
I will continue with Santa but will limit my activity to the mall. They provide me with a scooter and it's only a 4 hour shift

June Drabek

Patricia, where I live now we have an acre of land with huge trees, bushes, etc. that muffle a lot of sound, so a siren could be very disturbing inside the grounds. And we do have some very ill people in another building here and they could be easily disturbed by sirens. Being on the third floor I do hear sirens in the distance, and even what appears to be an occasional gun shot, plus Disneyland, which is about 14 miles away, sets off fireworks when they close down for the night. So we are not completely isolated from noise, but if it were to happen inside our grounds it would not be very welcome by many folks.

Don, you can still be plenty active in just day to day living. I am. And I think you mentioned the great thing you do on your treadmill. I do a lot of walking which is essential to my well being. I would fail on a treadmill, but just plain walking with my four wheel cart gives me exercise without danger. Plus the various activities we have six days a week . I'm happy you are able to do your Santa skit, and you get plenty of activity at the same time you are involved socially. We just have to learn to adjust our style as the years add up, and still be happy that we can do the things that are not too strenuous.

As long as we are here, let's dance.

angelface555

Mary Ann

I live two blocks from the fire department and it is on the corner of two main streets, so we do hear sirens often, including those of ambulances.  When an emergency vehicle comes into our complex. they kill the siren before they come in.  But their vehicles are heavy and even if I do not see them, I can tell when one or the other comes in here.

Mary Ann

June Drabek

I think it is time I closed down for the night and go do my book and bed routine. My other routine, and I hope you feel the sincerity , I send you all Love, Prayers and Hugs. June

Good Job

My sister landed a good job with an accounting firm, and after a while she got a generous raise. The day she found out about it, her husband picked her up from work, and they stopped for ice cream. As they continued home, my sister blurted out, "Isn't it hard to believe that I have a job that pays this much money?"

Just then, she went to toss the last of her ice cream cone out the window.

However, the window was closed, and it smacked against the glass.

Her husband replied calmly, "Yes."

My Prayer
Author Unknown

Lord, time is so precious.
Time to heal and be healed,
time to sort myself out, to understand,
to get it all together, to see your hand.
Where does each day go?
So fast, like a mountain stream,
so past, like a distant dream,
so lost, before we know, so time seems to flow.
So there’s no time to be lost,
I start here, this very moment,
I begin my prayer for healing here and now.
I lay the foundations with renewed heart
as stone by stone a wall is laid,
so prayer by prayer my hope is made
for a fresh start with you, Lord.
Amen

Good morning everyone..

Another beautiful day here  Mrs Robin and Mr Crow saw to it that I got up bless their wee birdie hearts! I am off to the city, taking a friend in for her cardio appointment. That will be it for me today.

Last night I did water the garden with rain water and washed the two vehicles as they were covered in pollen.

Joan thank you for breakfast.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  When I got home from my eye appt. I couldn't see much of anything.  I slept for a bit in the afternoon and then when the doggies said it was time, I fed them and myself.  Mostly last evening, I "listened" to the TV.  I still couldn't see it very well so I decided to go to bed early.  All this sleeping resulted in getting up very early this morning.  I've read all the posts from my friends in here this morning and it's too much to comment on all of it.  However,

I do want to speak about Benji!  I think all of us who are dog lovers can identify with your feelings.  Enjoy the time you have left and spoil him with love.  I know you will.  Give him hugs and kisses and whatever else he wants from you or you want to give him.  I know how you are hurting and that you will miss him terribly when he leaves you.  But remember also that he will be waiting for you at Rainbow Bridge to show you how he's missed you, too.  My heart is with you Jackie.

Good morning, Lloyd.  Thanks for the enjoyable link.

Vanilla-Jackie

Good afternoon....

Thank you yesterday for all concerned over our Benji.....Benji is ok for now, eating, playing, eager for his walks, I said to R some time ago, " I think something bad is going on with Benji..." or " don't be surprised something is going on with Benji.." just my gut feeling, my natural instinct which is often right....sadly in this case I would rather it not to be....I just cant understand how female vet is so sure, no biopsy, no x ray, but she, and the expression on her face said it all....I told her I cant go through what I went through with our Megan ( 2 & a half years ago ) she said.." you wont, I will tell you when.." kindof followed by..." but it wont be now, he is not in any pain..." well that's true...Of course R and myself was saying about if we knew then what we know now, would we have put him through his teeth opp, two weeks ago, which for him, was quite an ordeal to put a 13 year old dog through, but in hindsight I am glad he hasn't got gum infection marring what is left of his life to add to what is to come.....Yesterday afternoon we had to go back to vets to collect Hills Prescription diet ( Renal Health ) dog food...told to now keep him on this, will help his kidneys.....On the positive side, female vet took blood sample for kidneys, and although the numbers had risen a tad higher ( previously I had told you lower, just got confused ) she I a assuming doesnt think the cancer has reached his kidneys as the blood test " Calcium " level she seemed happy with, otherwise she told R over the phone soon after we arrived home, that would have made matters for Benji a whole lot worse for him, re his cancer, and I am assuming she meant, shorten his life further...
.......................................
Other recent news, our outside workman has now finished the work, it was a pleasure having him here, almost became one of the family...
......................................
Our office chair and patio-decking furnitur are both on there way, should be here Monday for our office chair, Tuesday-Wednesday I anticipate our garden furniture to be here.....
As for the carpet Insurance claim, R got a phonecall saying carpet guy will be here a week later than scheduled, R told him NO, so the day before yesterday we took a trip to carpet shop where ou two closest matches were awaiting us, we chose the better quality carpet, so now playing the waiting game for it to be ordered then fitted....
....................................
Same lunchtime R got a phonecall from his longtime friend from where we used to live, said they were not far from us, a popular tourist attraction...( google map it....Durdle Door Dorset ) and will be an hours drive away from our home, so an hour later they were here having a cuppa and chat with us, that was a pleasant surprise....

Gloria

Good morning everyone. Looks like I will be calling HP again this morning. This machine froze again last night, had to shut down manually. Surprised it came on this morning. I thought that last Dell was bad but it never froze. I am really fed up.  Forgive me for not responding to anyone but I want to get on the phone and start my day. not a happy camper.

Jackie, I am so sorry about Benji.  Some people will never understand how a dog (or cat) can come to mean so much to us but they are not just animals, they are like our children (with fur).  We lost our little Charlie Brown (dachshund) many years ago from heart disease and I still, after all this time, miss him.  I hope that you can be comforted by knowing how lucky Benji is to have people who have cared so much for him and have been willing to take any measure that you can to give him a good life.  Sadly, many animals in our world have not been so fortunate.  Enjoy him while you still have him and then let him go with love.

Don, sometimes we are forced to change directions in our lives, aren't we?  When one door closes another will open.  Would you perhaps be able to find an opportunity to be a mentor (teacher, advisor) to young actors just starting out?

It was hot, humid, and uncomfortable here yesterday and my body was not happy about that.  I managed to make it to the grocery store because I needed so many things but I spent the rest of the day in the recliner and not feeling so good.  I did have a good night's rest and feel better this morning and the weather is supposed to be better, too.  I've been reading of the intense heat in the southwestern U.S. and feeling sorry for those who live there.  And, I confess, feeling glad that I don't!

I wish I could respond to all of you here in the SS but that would be a book with many, many chapters so I'll just say that I think of each of you, of your concerns and your triumphs, and wish you good days and good health.

Now, off to breakfast and then to bow slightly to the housework gods.  Very slightly.

Good Morning Everyone!

Janie, what was the results of all the testing yesterday?  There was a big full page ad in our local paper yesterday wanting participants for a new eye drop for glaucoma.  Wonder if it will improve things?

Amy, do you ever slow down?  You want to share some of that energy?

Gloria, I hope you told HP you want a new computer.  You shouldn't have to put up with all that junk.

My oldest daughter and her husband took my wife and I out last night for my Fathers day (they didn't want fight the crowds on Sunday).  Took us to a very expensive restaurant, everything was a la carte, and I enjoyed a very nice steak, baked potato and salad, finished up with a nice cup of coffee.  We had a nice dinner.

Well the U.S. Open got rained out yesterday.  It poured there with a lightening and thunder accompaniment.  Janie they are playing at Oakmont, Pennsylvania, did you get any of the storm?

Coffee is ready, who wants some?

larryhanna

Hi everyone.   We are already at 83 degrees and headed to at least 97 and perhaps to 100 degrees this afternoon.  Fortunately, my outside watering is done and Pat and I both plan on just staying inside today.  Our housekeeper will be here later this morning and that is all that is on the agenda for today.

We had a very nice Sunday School party last evening.  The facility was very nice, the food was good and the opportunity to spend some quality time visiting with a few folks and meeting some I had not met before.  Fortunately we were able to park right in front of the entryway as it was very hot late yesterday afternoon.  The party ended, as planned, at 7 pm as there was a concert in the part adjacent that many of the folks were attending.  The lady I was sitting next to at the table is our oldest choir member at 86 and she has been singing in the church since 1952.  She is the lady who bakes a little cake for our refreshment table at Sunday School each Sunday and has done this for a number of years.

Jackie, sorry for you and R with regard to the sad news you got yesterday about Benji.

Joan, I am with you on loving apple fritters.  It has been quite awhile since I had any of them.  I need to check at COSTCO for them or at Publix.  The ones that Dunkin' Donut has aren't bad either.

Lloyd, I think when I was real young Dad had a baler that used wire instead of twine.  However, by the time I was old enough to work in the field and help with the baling it was the twine type bales and there was always something going wrong with the knotter for the twine.

Amy, I remember being told to keep my arms down when the wires were put into my heart.  I also remember having to wear my arm in a sling for 5 days when the initial device was put in, per instructions at the hospital nurse, only to be told when I saw the doctor that it wasn't necessary.  When they took the old device out and put in the new they cut along the first incision and I never had any pain from it and didn't even need to take an aspirin.  I would say your friend has some very bad luck or a bad doctor.

June, Pat has purchased quite a few clothes from Blair and she has gotten frustrated with their website on occasion and has just called them.  I am surprised that a service person couldn't quickly change your email address on your account.

donklan, thanks for that link.  That little fellow did a great job of impersonation.  I shared it with some of my friends.

Molly, glad that Mohamed made it safely to your home.  By the time he adjusts to the time change he will have to do it all over as he gets back to Eqypt.

Beverly, does Chape have the combination pacemaker/defibrillator? I have generally felt better most of the time since they started pacing both sides of my heart with the added wire.

Hal, that was a nice Father's Day gift and it sounds like you enjoyed that steak.

A little while ago I talked with the chair lift folks again as we are having the same problem they have been here twice to fix.  I told them I was concerned that we had a lemon since we had been told they are best lift.  He said they will be out next week to check it again and will not charge us.  At least they are nice folks to deal with.

JoanFL

Vanilla-Jackie--You are doing everything possible to make Benji comfortable, and that should bring you a bit of solace.  I know you're glad the workmen are done for now.  And next week your office chair and patio furniture will be arriving followed by carpet installation.  Your new home is sure going to be "spiffy".

Good morning, Gloria.  I don't blame you one bit for being angry about your computer.  I'd be fuming.

Phyllis--Good morning.  Sorry you overdid yesterday and then didn't feel well.  Maybe today you should just rest.

Good morning, halkel.  GREAT that your daughter and SIL took you to a high class restaurant as a Father's Day gift.  Your meal sounds delicious.  I'll have another cup of coffee, please.

Larry--Good morning.  Our temp is going to be similar to yours today.  GREAT that you enjoyed your Sunday School party.  I've found I like the apple fritters from Publix.  We don't have a COSTCO.  Sorry you are again having trouble with that chair lift.

Good Morning. My housekeeper as been in, took all my soiled linens out to her cart, then changed my bedding. I told her my sheets were not soiled, and she said it is a ruling..bedding to be changed weekly. She will be back later to do my every other week of deep cleaning. That's when I take my book and go sit in the upstairs lobby and read, she tires me out with her work, and I feel guilty having someone else do my job.

Just have one program on my schedule for today...at 6:30  I will see a video on travel. There are other things scheduled for the day, but nothing that interests me. I am content.

I am feeling un-inspired in conversing this morning. Not like me. I will try again later. June

Good afternoon, just a little after 12.  I am enjoying our middle 70's while we can.  Next week will start our real hot days.  Cloudy, which helps with the heat,  No rain in sight.

Jackie, I so understand how you feel about Benji, as I have said before, they are our children.  I still miss our Great Dane, she would even back up and set on couch with us, and her two front feet would be on the floor.  Wewere lucky we had her for 12 years, the vet said why did you get a GD, when they do not live past 7. My answer, my son saw her when we went to pick out a dog, and fell in love with Tiney at first sight.  At that time she was all feet.

GloriaIt is about time they gave you a new PC When you pay that much money, it should not break down in a couple of months.  As long as my old computers are still working, I do not plan to change things.  When I buy a new one, I will get most likely from Best Buy. Everyone here in the park, say they get serve right away if there is a problem. They come to the house.

The only time I know there is and ambulance in the park, if at night I see the lights flashing.  Glenwood Village has 580 homes, so they are in here quite often.

Went to a Red Hat luncheon yesterday, had pot roast and it was very good.  They had a desert table, where you could help your self. Pies, cakes, cookies.  Cream puffts and eclairs seem to be the most popular.

Molly, glad to see Mohamed got home safe.

Yesterday did not start off so good, first I poured sour milk into my coffee, then I got a nose bleed.  My DIL in Fla. called and said my G.Son had to have emerengcy surgery, as he had and abcess on his spine, and lost the use of his left leg. I almost did not go to RH luchenon, but my friend said it would be good to get out of the house.

Linedancer--I could take some cooler weather and some rain.  Nice that you still go to the Red Hat group.  Your mention of cream puffs makes my mouth water.  I love them and haven't had one in years.  Sorry about the sour milk in your coffee.  Yuck!!  I had terrible nose bleeds when I was younger, and then it was like somebody turned off the switch, and I haven't had one in years.  I pray the surgery goes well for your grandson and he recovers with no problems.
