MaryAnn.   That is a long time to work for one company. You must have been just out of school.

I seemed to put 5 years in and then something else came up. Always the same field. Finance. I did put in 20 years with the last one and retired from there. Took early retirement. 62.  I enjoyed most jobs I had but noticed in the last one which was a large company that as it got to the last few year. Senior owner died. Sons took over and people coming in not the same. I had a division of it as International and 7 with me Mostly from other countries. The rest of the Office area seemed to be back stabbing all the time. Time I got away.. Still miss working though.
JeanneP

JoanFL

June--Hopefully you can nap and get rested.

Mary Ann--I had several jobs during my working career--quite diverse from one another.  I'm sure you were a very valued employee if you were there 43+ years. That's a LONG time.

JeanneP--Unlike you, I worked for many different employers--most very diverse from what I did in the previous one.  I think the job I liked best was my last one before retirement--as an investigator in the Attorney General's office.

Mary Ann

JeanneP and Joan, I was 18 when I started my job but I had been out of school a year.  I went to Junior College for a semester and that's when my mother died.  The next fall my dad said I had to return to school or get a job and I chose to get a job.  I never thought I'd work that many years.  I worked in one department 25 years.  Fortunately, I liked what I did, which was office work, and I'm sure if I didn't like it, I would have moved elsewhere.

Working for a utility was interesting too because I got to learn about different phases of the company.  And I got to know a lot of employees because of the various departments where I worked.  From what I hear, it isn't the same company now!  I did not have a college degree (still don't) and I know now I would not be eligible to be hired because even entry level people in the office must have degrees.

Mary Ann

JoanFL

Mary Ann--I am sure you were a very valued for them to keep you in their employ that many years.

JoanFL.  I bet your last job was interesting. Did you also retire early.  It is sad now to see so many people working in a job the hate.  Just can't move on. I always found it so easy once ready to change. Kept interested for 20 years because I just did the Finance etc for the 4 plants and offices we had in other countries. Lots of Contacting. Some travel.

I'm home from my "Happy Customers" day!  Thank goodness, they were because as tired as I feel, I might have snapped at them and that's a definite no-no.  Some old friends, made at WM went through my line so I had a chance to reminisce a bit.

Now, I bet even you can hear it!  The sofa is literally hollering at me to get in there and remove some of those ZZZs.  It says that too many of them have accumulated and they're getting too heavy to hold.  I think I'll see if I can help old sofa out.

I'll be back!

Been back from my Poole hospital appointment a few hours now...all went well but....I shall wait for the follow up letter, one to me, one to my female GP as to what his suggestions are and to what he was prescribing as my options...as its not clear at the moment....Well my bladder has been on overtime, or is that overdrive? today..... Firstly I was bursting for the loo in the car half way there so we stopped off at the first and nearest place where there would be a loo....which was a burger bar in an outdoor shopping precinct.... then of course felt obliged to sit down for a coffee before making the final 4 mile journey into the centre of Poole...then I went again before we left, both times a full bladder'ed wee....Then another two full bladdered wees inside the hospital whilst awaiting being called for my appointment, followed by another full bladder'ed wee in the middle of my 40 minute consultation...no not in the room, but he allowed me time to go out of the room down the corridor...No sooner had I done a wee my bladder kept filling up, just typical on the day I go to see him......Well I now know where the hospital loo is quite well...

JoanFL

JeanneP--Yes, I retired early.

Janie--I sure hope you can use some of those zzz's up before the couch goes crumbling down.

Vanilla-Jackie--Guess by now you have all the bathrooms scoped out at the places you have to go.

Joan, there were a few strange faces each time I walked towards that loo door by other patients...as if saying, didn't she just pass by here a short while ago...I even told the receptionists in the (red) waiting room, " I know where to go..." they could see I came from the ( yellow ) waiting room....

JaneS

I've used up almost 2 hours worth of those zzzs from the couch and it's breathing a sigh of relief.  Thank goodness because I sure wouldn't want it to collapse as Joanie suggested it might.

All that's on my agenda for the rest of the day is dinner, and a whole lot of nothing!  How does that sound?

Jackie, I remember back when I was pregnant with the twins we were going somewhere with some friends.  I had to make a pit stop and I pointed out a place to my husband.  My friend told me later that her husband asked how I knew that place was there and my husband answered, "She know where every rest room is between home and Timbuctu."  And he's right!

A woman found a badly injured lion in the forest. She took it with her and nursed it back to health. When it was better, she made arrangements with a zoo to take the lion and give it a new and happy home. This video was taken when she returned to the zoo some time later to see how her lion was doing. Watch the lion's amazing reaction when he sees her!

Vanilla-Jackie--They knew where you were headed.:)

Janie--Good for you for using up a couple hours worth of zzz's.  You sure don't won't the couch overloaded.  I know what you mean about pinpointing all the bathrooms.  I didn't have twins, but had to find a facility often.:)

Lloyd--Thanks for the link.  I'll check it out when I finish here.

Molly, if you are looking in, I have just seen some bad news, re, Istanbul's Ataturk Airport...I am sure hoping your Mohamed is still this side with you, and not that side.....Thinking of you, Mohamed and family's safety, at this point in time.....

I ate to much lunch, Lay down for a few minutes and woke up 2 hours later.  Now after 5pm and need to run out to Wall Marts and Aldi's.  So this day shot.  Feel good though.  Saying it will be 59 deg tonight and so plan on doing lots of work tomorrow. Jeanne P, you are right, I made a blooper... :-[

Guess I was getting mixed up with Cairo Airport...not sure how.... ???

My urinary bleed appointment still hasn't come through, and its now I week overdue to what female Doctor first told me before she forgot to put in my first appointment referral.....If it doesn't come soon I shall be phoning her again asking why....No my bladder problem is to do with my MS, as all MS'ers suffer continence problems, many MS'ers having to self catheterise themselves.......
I have asked that question whether any link...only to get fobbed of with the words of no connection, although I still have my doubts, just have no clue what is going on down there....

JeanneP

Turkey will now be taken off the list of favourite places for Brits to take a holiday. My family loved going there almost every summer and Isn't it Malta where lots go for holidays and can take day trips over to Turkey.  Soon world travel will be stopping by the UK people and they will be back to taking holidays to Bournemouth and Brighton. Up into the Lakes districts  again.  I know when I go over I will no longer go over into Europe.  I have noticed on all the trip now that get sent to me from the Travel agent that I have always used in UK are coming in so Cheap . In safe times I would be going everywhere.

Greece and Turkey are favourites of UK, I have been to both, once, on a short three - four day mini cruise, several years ago....sad really as these countries rely on tourism from UK....

We were blessed with more rain  saves me from watering the garden.
Hal, I would love to help ,I can imagine your oaks are mighty ones too! I just used a long pole with a saw blade on it ,plus it has a spring loaded snip on it. Makes the job easy...I sold my chain saw a number of years back....don't do that anymore.

Jane, one has to be a Jill of all trades to get along in this world.

Lloyd, thank you..loved the video.

Have a good night everyone...time for me to pound my pillow :)

Oh, Lloyd, I also loved that video.... amazing it remembered her 5 years later.  My Callie Cat is about as loving, she follows me like a dog when I'm outside & will sit in the hot garage waiting for me to come out.  Makes me feel so guilty for not letting her in the house... but I can't trust her not to mark her territory & don't know how to explain to her.  Can't make me believe that animals don't have feelings!

My doctor appointments are tomorrow... for EKG & Echo... I don't expect any problems but worry that my cardio Dr will be retiring & I don't want to break in a new one.  Not all will listen to their patients... I won't agree to any "invasive" tests & am lucky my family Dr & the cardio one goes along with my wishes.

I think I hogged all the zzzzzzzzzzzs today, sorry about that.. had a good nap after a good night sleep.  I do think when we are "too tired" we don't sleep sound or restful, so was making up for a week average of about 4-5 hours a night.

Sweet dreams to all and everyone with health problems... prayers your day is better tomorrow.  God Bless!

JaneS

I'll be off to Dreamland soon.  I still feel a bit tired but also sleepy tonight.  I hope it will be a good one for all of you also.  Good Night Everyfriend and may God bless us, every one!

I am here again. Sort of...feeling sleepy again. I lay back down this morning and woke in time to go for lunch. After I attended a couple of programs I was ready to snooze again, so did. I wonder if I will sleep tonight ?

lloyd, the Lion hug was beautiful ! Thank you for sharing that..

Tisie, I wish you good news on your tests tomorrow. I'm with you on no invasive surgery.  At my age, I feel what will be will be.

Janie, I just can't seem to get enough of those zzzzzz's.  I'm putting it down to age, where you are such a "doer", it is understandable why you tire. The body rules, and there is no use to try and kid it into thinking all is Springtime.

I pray all of you dear friends have a peaceful night and a happy, healthful tomorrow. Big hugs to those that need them, and Love and Prayers to all. June

As long as we are here, let's dance.

CHUCKLES

I am hereby officially tendering my resignation as an adult:

I have decided I would like to accept the responsibilities of an 8-year old again:

- I want to go to McDonald's and think that it's a four-star restaurant.
- I want to sail sticks across a fresh mud puddle and make ripples with rocks.
- I want to think M&Ms are better than money because you can eat them.
- I want to lie under a big oak tree and run a lemonade stand with my friends on a hot summer's day.
- I want to return to a time when life was simple. When all you knew were colors, multiplication tables, and nursery rhymes, but that didn't bother you, because you didn't know what you didn't know - and you didn't care.
- All you knew was to be happy because you were blissfully unaware of all the things that could make you worried or upset.
- I want to be oblivious to the complexities of life and be overly excited by the little things again.
- I want to live simple again.
- I don't want my day to consist of computer crashes, mountains of paperwork, depressing news, how to survive more days in the month than there is money in the bank, doctor bills, gossip, illness, and loss of loved ones.

So, here's my checkbook and my car-keys, my credit card bills and my 401K statements. I am officially resigning from adulthood.

And if you want to discuss this further, you’ll have to catch me ‘cause “Tag.  You’re It”.

Food For Thought

True Love of Christ
(By Steve Troxel)

In the last hours of His earthly ministry, Jesus spoke with His disciples and gave a command which was considered new: "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another" (John 13:34).

Should this command really have been new? Shouldn't the disciples have known they were to love one another? Or is it possible to spend three years with a Master Teacher and yet not understand that learning must translate to action, and that we teach truth by first being an example of truth? If we desire to teach love, we must first be loving; to teach the concept of grace, we must first be gracious; and in order to "make disciples of all nations" (Matthew 28:19), we must begin by first being a true disciple!

As I continue to study and learn the wonderful truths of God's Word, and as I diligently try to teach these truths to others, I never want to stop at simply being better educated: "Do not merely listen to the Word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says" (James 1:22). I'll be the first to admit that I fall short in many ways, but I sincerely strive to make His Word real and apply it in all areas of my life.

Our spiritual growth must never be measured by how much we know, but by how much we are transformed - by how much the Word penetrates to the innermost part of our heart. We have all been blessed by God's love far more than we deserve. We must now better understand this love and then learn how to become His expression of love to others.

Ephesians 3:17-19
"I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge."

The ultimate expression of love was that God gave His Son to an undeserving world so "that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16). This is a love we will never fully understand.

Paul had such a deep appreciation for the love contained in God's plan of Salvation through the sacrificial gift of Jesus, that he was often completely overwhelmed; "When I think of the wisdom and scope of God's plan, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father" (Ephesians 3:14 NLT). When we begin to truly grasp His love, all we can do is say, Thank You!

Let's pray for a greater understanding of His love and then return His love through a devoted life of worship. Let's make His love real by demonstrating love to those He places in our path. Let's begin to grasp, and then give back and share, the true love of Christ.

Have a Christ Centered Day!
-Steve

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I think my dogs are still on standard time.  We seem to be getting up around 5 every morning.  Oh well, I guess that's better than 4.

Joanie, thanks for the goodies.  I think I want to be 8 again, too.  Wouldn't it be nice if we could try that out!  Just occasionally take a vacation back there.

Have we heard from Joy lately?  I don't remember seeing her here.

I wish you all a very special day.  Make it a good one!

Good morning everyone..

I love wildlife, all of it ,but there is a robin that sings rather loudly outside my bedroom window starting at 5 am or earlier.I do wish he/she would sing else where!

Finished the last of the camp quilts yesterday so now I can move on to something else. Have two other projects on the go and would like them done also.

Jane ,good morning, enjoy your day.

Joan,thank you for breakfast.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good Wednesday morning, it is now pelting down with rain, and so gray looking outside....so much for what they call..." Flaming June..." no sun flames to be seen....

LLoyd Hammond, wow seeings believing, brought tears of joy, pure love, and happiness to my eyes, how did that Lion remember her after a five year absence...and they say animals don't have feelings or memories....

Edited.. Joan, re, your today's chuckles...." I want to go to McDonald's and think that it's a four-star restaurant...." It was a MacDonald's we popped into yesterday (the loo ) and for a coffee, I can tell you that that was no 4 star restaurant....there were a young couple of mothers with children that I have never seen so much mess of there rubbish scattered on the floor, ( paper cups, bags, foodstuff and chips scattered ) yet when they got up to leave they never cleared the rubbish with them, just left it...also the table and chairs we sat in ( all seemed to be the same..) were such a tight squeeze to get into, they were the jointed to the ground non movable table and seating bench, such a tight squeeze, I cant see how anyone would be comfortable eating there food from there, I know I wouldn't....I had to sit with my legs to the side...while my stomach was pushed into the table...

JoanFL

Good morning, Janie.  Maybe we could all try being 8 for a day?:)  I don't believe Joy has been here lately.  I hope she is OK.

Amy--Good morning.  Maybe you need some ear plugs so that robin doesn't wake you up.  You sure get those quilts done fast.  It's nice to have projects ongoing, I think.

Good morning, Lloyd.  I was sometimes cranky as an 8 year old and sometimes I am now, too.

Vanilla-Jackie--Good morning.  People who go to a fast food restaurant and don't make children behave and also don't pick up after themselves have no respect for others, IMO.

When I see children misbehaving in a restaurant or people not picking up after themselves, I think of a guy I knew in highschool.  He would have said "He ain't got no 'couth. Guess ha ain't had no bringins up".  I think a lot of kids today "ain't had no bringins up".
