Good Sunday morning, Everyfriend.  There's sausage and cheese biscuits to go with your coffee or tea.  Have a blessed Sunday.

Thanks to Phyllis for her lovely “June” graphic creation which we are using this week.

Chuckles

Robberies

The area had been hit with an epidemic of robberies perpetrated by the notorious gentleman burglar.

One night Sally woke and shook Jim. "Jim, there's a burglar in the house," she said.
"There is not," He said sleepily. "Go back to sleep."
Just then a man sprang from inside a closet. "There is too," he declared. "Now apologize to the lady."

Food For Thought

Death for the Christian
(By Chris Long)

I would like to open with a short story by Corrie Ten Boom:

"A man and his son went over a long, narrow bridge. It was over a broad river, and the boy said, 'Daddy, I am afraid. Do you see all that water down there?'

'Give me your hand, boy,' the father said. The moment the boy felt his father's hand, he was not scared.

In the evening they had to go back again, and this time it was pitch dark. 'Now I am more afraid than this morning!' the boy cried.

The father took the little fellow in his arms. Immediately the boy fell asleep, to awaken the next day in his own bed.

This is what death is like for the Christian. He falls asleep and wakes up at Home."

Thought of the Day

“Some days are better, some days are worse.  Look for the blessing instead of the curse.  Be positive, stay strong, and get enough rest.  You can’t do it all, but you can do your best.”

Good Morning JOAN.

Lovely graphic  from Phyllis and my favourite colour.
Great Thought of the Day.  :D

JaneS

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I went to bed early last night.  I guess the events of the day before finally caught up with me and I was truly exhausted!  I was climbing in and realized it was only 9:30 and I hadn't even said goodnight to my friends.  I hope you all slept well and are ready for this "rare day in June".

I'll be getting ready for church soon and then be off.  After church, I'm going to visit the Farmer's market.  Have a great day Everyfriend!

Good morning everyone..

Woke to the sound of gentle rain which is much needed and tickling whiskers on my face. Little dog thought it was time to get even if I didn't.  Yard sale was slow yesterday but we did get to met some nice folks.

Today is a day of rest, I do need to straighten up my sewing room as daughter in love will be coming for a few days she she has a project that needs to be started.

Phyliss, LOVE your graphics!

Hal, I had to :2funny: at you waking your wife up on th wrong day....hope your in her good good books today.

Jane and Carrie, this is going to be an interesting show once you get on the road...

June, taking baby steps will get you further in the long run.

Jackie, how is Benji doing?

Joan, thank you for breakfast.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning, junee.  It's nice to see you here in the SS.

Janie--Good morning.  Hope you find lots of fresh things at the Farmer's Market.

Good morning, Amy.  Too bad you didn't have more "traffic" at your yard sale.  At least you met some nice folks.

Good Morning Everyone!

Well today is Sunday, for sure, and I am fixing to get myself cleaned up, have some coffee and head out for church.  Looks like we got more showers last night.

June, no way they going to keep you tied down....I hope you got liability insurance on that walker.

Everyone have a good day.

Gloria

God morning everyone, got side tracked last night. Watched an old movie Houseboat with Cary Grant and Sophia Loren. I enjoyed the comedy.  One thing I want to know, CALLIE and JANE  when are you taking your show on the road? Hope you get to this area, would go to watch enjoy your comedy.
Rain in the forecast for today, possible
thunderstorms this afternoon and again during the night.

PHYLLIS  beautiful graphic for this week once again.

JOAN  I will enjoy your breakfast with my coffee. Chuckles is funny, just thinking of a burglar being so polite to the lady had me laughing. Like Food for Thought, a simple explanation but touching. Good quote, so true. Thank you for all today's goodies.

JUNEE  hello.

JANE  like you I read last night's posts in the commercial breaks in the movie and I did not post.

AMY  a day of rest? Would you know how to take even one day with doing nothing?

HAL we are in for rain later but we do need some.

Hi everyone.  It is an overcast and very humid morning.  During the night we had about 1 3/4 inches of rain so sure won't need to water the yard tomorrow.  I just checked to be sure I hadn't turned it back on and had not.  We will attend Sunday School and Church and then get something to eat before coming home for a restful afternoon.  I plan to watch the last day of the Colonial Golf Championship later this afternoon.  Pat made a most delicious lemon pie from scratch yesterday with actual meringue.  It is probably the best lemon pie I have ever eaten.

Hal, I seem to be making more unforced errors (as they say in tennis) as it was Don I was trying address about the tread mill.

Callie, I decided quite awhile ago that I don't need someone else to tell me what I need to eat.  I try to do things in moderation and after the guidelines are proven incorrect.  Is Emily umpiring at the College Softball Games?  I see she is now a TV star.

Joan, I had posted in the Soda Shoppe what was met to be in Norm's Bait & Tackle.  When I discovered the error I removed the posting and put it where it belonged and then posted here.  Yesterday didn't seem to be my day for accuracy but like most things the error was easily corrected.  :)

June, I doubt that Ali had any back talk from his children as he would be pretty fearsome.  I read yesterday that the children are probably going to battle over his estate.  That is so sad as only the lawyers will benefit.

Jackie, very pretty dogs and lovely sofa as well.

Don, the cardiac rehab I did for four years involved many more people that all came at the same time.  There were nurses to check us in and a doctor usually there in case of an emergency.  In fact, he sent me to the ER a couple of times from the rehab in an ambulance and finally told me to do what I could on my own.

Patricia, that is a beautiful picture and view that you have.  Is the park?

Jenny, it sounds like all that supervision of Bob was very tiring work!  :)

Joan, I really liked your Food for Thought today and the graphic Phyllis made for our pleasure.  It is a good one.

Good Morning from the cloudy Interior, not sure what the day will bring as it is only 4:33am.

Farrah has been really comfortable the last two or three days, but I have said that before so that is also a "we'll see."

Larry, there is a group of parks, bike trails, and walkways built along the Chena as it goes through town. The plaza is just the one nearest me. It is part of a long ago city beautification effort by the Garden Club and others. And best seen when all the flowers are out and blooming.

It is a very nice view through the cam. My view is through some birch trees, not so grand but the carillon counts the hours with music and bells and I watch the boats, canoes and floatplanes go by.

JaneS

I'm back from church and what do you know?  Another emergency in the making.  A light came on in my car and a little buzzer squealed at me.  What next?  I guess I'll be stopping by the garage in the morning.

Good morning halkel.  Good thing you figured out today was Sunday so you don't get your wife miffed.:)

Gloria--Good morning.   Did your son get your grocery shopping done yesterday?

Good morning, Larry.  Now I understand how I answered you before you posted.  That's lots of work to make a lemon meringue pie from scratch.  Your mention of it has me salivating.

angelface--Good morning.  Hope Farrah is REALLY settled in, but one never knows for sure.

Good Morning,

I think Jane and I could call our duo "What Next?" !

Yesterday began with Miss Emily's arrival at 1:00 a.m. and ended with son/dil here for two hours last night fixing a goof I'd made when I accidentally pushed the wrong button on the tv remote  - and then installing two mini cable boxes that Cox is now requiring because they're going all digital.  Installation wasn't hard but dil ended up having a long conversation with a techie getting everything set up on both tvs.
I didn't make it to bed any earlier than usual - and I was exhausted!

Gloria,  Jane and I can't leave for the road until we find the red RV and hire those stewards....and we are very particular - especially about the stewards!   ;)

Larry,  although Emily, who is college Senior, played League softball from ages 6-18, she is working "behind the scenes" at the college tournament.  On Friday night, she helped stock concession stands throughout the stadium.  Yesterday,  she was a "ball girl" - taking new balls to the umpires when they were replacing ones used in the game.
We don't see that happening during the tv broadcasts.  The camera just happened to catch her in the background as one of the players walked up to bat.
Her mom caught another picture of her when an umpire was consulting with someone in the area where she was.  Unfortunately, it isn't very flattering because she's fixing the scrunchie in her hair and looks as if she's about to clobber the ump over the head.   Facebook friends had a good time commenting on this one.

Off to get ready for church - hoping today will be calmer than the last few have been.

....and wishing Everyfriend Everywhere a lovely day.

Sandy

Good Morning Everyone,
from the Foggy and cool,
soon to be rainy,  rocky coast
of Maine.

Forecast is predicting more of
the same for the next couple of
weeks.   Great weather for Gardens!
Not so much for spending time at
the shore!

All is well here!  Glad to see
that June is home and enjoying
herself.

Sandy

Good Morning all, I had a broken sleep last night. Woke up at midnight, and sleep didn't come, so I read till the wee hours of the morning, then was awakened by the phone. My loyal friend, Harry ,back at Sunwest Village still phones me on Sunday morning at six a.m. so I get to Church on time.

Have finished the first cup of Java so I feel more awake. But there will be a nap waiting for me by afternoon.

Hal, that walker has become my closest friend..very loyal, very accommodating, reassuring, and never talks back. I hope you have a beautiful Sunday.

Larry, "Money is the root of all evil". I never understood that for years, but it certainly has proven to be a truthful statement. I just can't fathom people fighting over what a loved one has left behind after death. I need have no fear of that in my family. They have made their own way in this life time, and want for nothing.

Sandy, life is too short to pass up any opportunity to enjoy it to the fullest. I'm sure you felt the same way as you started on your trip around the United States. If we get interrupted while doing our "thing", at least we enjoyed the trip.

Bis, I am sending you special thanks, and a hug, for all you do for us every day of the year. It is greatly appreciated.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

JoanFL

Callie--Good morning. You've had some long days of late.  I think "What Next" is a dandy name  for you and Jane's duo.  When my cable company went digital, they came and put the adapters on the 3 TVs that needed them.

Good morning, Sandy.  They are predicting bad weather here starting tonight and lasting several days.  We'll see.

June--Sorry your night's sleep was broken.  That often happens to me.  Thank you for acknowledging what I do here each day.

Larry, my mother was well known for her lemon meringue pies.  It is one of my favorites.  I've made it from scratch and from boxed puddings; Mother's were made from scratch.

I have the PGA tour on my TV but I'm only watching it occasionally and not listening to it.  Maybe when I'm finished computing, I'll turn on the sound.

Dot and go I did our usual - church then OTB.  The place was quite busy but we had to wait a longgg time for our order.  An employee was at the coffee bar so Dot asked her about our order.  She told another employee who came and took our ticket and shortly came with our order.  It was exactly an hour that we waited and that is very unusual.  Mr Burger, aka Cholesterol Pit, is a cafeteria type place; you place your order and they give you a slip with a number on it and when your order is ready, your number is called and you go by the cashier to pick it up.

We had a thunderstorm early this morning but things are drying off now.  At least I don't have to water my outside plants.

Mary Ann

Lindancer

Goodafternoon, Yesterday i was hot all day.  Today I have a sweater on.  I feel much better.  Thursday I woke up with a rash, doctor looked at it, and said it could be somthing I ate. I had shrimp scampie, and been eating  a lot of cherries, nothing else that I can think of. I was up and till 2AM with restless leg.  something new.  A suggestion from someone was rub Vick on it at night.
The fun of getting old.

Phyllis, thanks for the lovely graphic.  I also love the color blue.

MaryAnn, when I finish here, I wil go watch golf, it is just starting to rain.

Thanks Joan as always. I to also like your Food for thought.

Sandy, I have always like the change of seasons. The first year in Charleston, we had the front door open, it was so hot on Christmas Day, it did not seem right.

Gloria, I have watched House Boat many times.  You can not go wrong with the old movies, and good actors.

June, I just love reading your happy go lucky post.  We were all so worried about you.

Larry I love lemon meringue pie, my son did too.

Callie, you cheered me up when I read about your adventure with the smoke alarm.  A few weeks ago my neighbor came running over when she heard mine, I was cooking a piece of ham, had already turned it, but the alarm still was blasting away.  she started fanning it.

Amy, we have had quite a few yard sales,  Our big one was when we sold our house, we had it for 3 days.  We made good money, all the old tools in the barn was grabed up, scye, sharping stone, you set on, hay racks etc. We also had a corn crib full of stuff. Even my sons soap box racer, that he drove in Akron, OH,  It is a lot of work.  I had a few helpers for the big one.

Amy, apologies, I know that is twice now you asked me how Benji is doing....Benji is doing well, better as the days go by, been 5 days now and he puckers up for a kiss, and has picked up a soft plush toy wanting me to play, but I tell him " not yet....." wait a little longer....just two more days of meds to go....then told another week maybe before he heals.......He still shows signs occasionally, as if stitches are in his mouth and getting in the way.... but its certainly not stopping him from eating well.... :dancingdog:

JoanFL

Mary Ann--I am ashamed to say patience is not one of my virtues.  If we were out for a real special occasion meal, I might wait an hour to get my meal.  But in a place such as you describe, after 30 min. I would have gotten up and walked out.

Linedancer--No way does one need a sweater here--that won't happen until probably Nov. Sorry about your rash and your restless leg syndrome.  I have a friend that suffers terribly from that.  Even with medication, she's often unable to get a good night's sleep.

Vanilla-Jackie--Glad Benji is doing so well in recuperating from his procedure.

:bravo:  Thanks to all for your appreciation of this week's graphic.   Those are some of my favorite colors, too, and I have always liked the blue and lime green combination.

Hot, humid, and summery here today but no thunderstorms....yet!

I'm watching the golf now, too.  Jordan Spieth really fell apart yesterday.  He has had a very erratic year compared to last year where he couldn't do anything wrong.  I hope he makes a better showing when the US Open comes up.

I had trouble waking up this morning and have felt 2 steps behind all day today.  Think I'll go shake hands with the recliner.

Phyllis--I like blue and green together, too.  Years ago I had to arm chairs covered with an abstract blue and green fabric.  My couch called me about an hour ago, and I rested for about 45 min.

Joan, Norm would have walked out of Mr Burger, then told the owner about it the next time he was there.  I know if it happens again that we wait (and it would not be an hour), when numbers around ours was called, we'd ask.  This is a place where people go before or after church and is a neighborhood institution.  The man owns seven Mr Burgers around town and it not your typical restaurant; it's a hamburg joint!  Dot and I agreed we didn't have anything else to do, so waited - and talked.  It is our weekly get-together.

We had 80 degrees yesterday and it is 66 now.  We had a big storm around 6 am and radar looks as if it has gone east.

Reserving my parking spot for the week. Tomorrow I resume physio, so no coffee for breakfast :(

Molly

Well, it's only taken me TWO days to figure out how to get access AGAIN to Soda Shop!  All the helpful suggestions from the friends here were most appreciated, but did NOT work for me!!!  Never did figure out what I was doing wrong OR why I'd lost the access to this discussion in the first place, but it's nice to be back.  Sure hope I can continue to join th discussion occasionally.

TOMORROW IS THE BIG DAY!!!   David heads off to a one year assignment in KOREA.  Sure would appreciate positive thoughts and prayers from friends here.  He is traveling alone as the family decided NOT to interrupt their schedules (work and college) to join him.

Mohamed called several times today and we talked about his travel next week from Egypt to the USA.  And such a blessing that local friends here have volunteered to meet him at the airport in the evening.  I'm staying home as that is a difficult time of day for me, but offered to pay them for their time.
They both laughed at me, but said "a Hershey Bar would be fine!"

Hope everyone has enjoyed the weekend!

JaneS

I decided to take a drive up to the WalMart service center and see if they knew what was wrong.  The one guy that I truly trust was there and he took a look at it and said that the light was for an oil change and they could do it right away.  They checked all the fluids and a few other things and put 3 new windshield wipers on and it was a lot less than I thought and I could use my discount card.  So I'm ready for my trip to my sister's next week.  My old car is hangin' in there!  We're growing old together!

Molly, Chaps will be in my daily prayers while he is in Korea and Mohammed is also in my prayers as he travels.

In fact, you are all in my prayers.  And so is Callie's TV.  I haven't seen a red van yet and I'm sure the stewards will be a problem.  Now they have to be able to fix cars and TVs too.

Amy

Had a fantastic day!! I have the sewing room just about ready for when the daughter in love comes up and I did get most of the quilt done, just need to put borders and do the binding.

Thunder rumbled so I hightailed it into the shower, just in case we were in for a bad storm......so far nothing ..but I am squeaky clean  :2funny:

Jane, is this a fire engine red  or a cherry red van? Now the stewards would have to be T,D and H..that is Truthful,Dedicated and Humorous...or whatever you perceive T,D and H to be

Gloria, a day of doing what one loves is a very relaxing day and I did it!!!

Jackie, so glad to hear Benji is coming along ...no fun when our furkids hurt.

Enjoy your evening everyone.

Hi Radioman.

Molly--Glad you found your way back.  I always pray for your family but will say extra prayers as Chaps and Mohamed prepare to travel.

Janie--Glad all that light meant was you needed an oil change and things are all fixed now.

Amy--GREAT that you had such a fantastic day.
