Good Friday morning, Everyfriend.   There's breakfast burritos  to accompany your coffee or tea. Make it a good day!!

CHUCKLES

Flower Show

Two little old ladies, Connie and Evelyn, were sitting on a park bench outside the local town hall where a flower show was in progress.

The short one, Connie, leaned over and said: “Life is so boring. We never have any fun anymore. For $10, I'd take my clothes off and streak through that stupid, boring flower show!”

“You're on!” said Evelyn, holding up a $10 bill.

So Connie slowly fumbled her way out of her clothes. She grabbed a dried flower from a nearby display and held it between her teeth. Then, completely naked, streaked through the front door.

Her friend soon heard a huge commotion inside the hall, followed by loud applause and shrill whistling. Finally, the smiling Connie came through the exit door surrounded by a cheering, clapping crowd.

“What happened?” asked Evelyn.

“I won $1,000 as first prize for 'Best Dried Arrangement'...”

I am part of the fellowship of the unashamed.
The die has been cast.
The decision has been made.
I have stepped over the line.
I won't look back, let up, slow down or back away.

My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, my future is secure. I'm finished and done with selfish living, sight walking, small planning, "smooth knees," colorless dreams, tamed visions, mundane talking, cheap giving and dwarfed goals.

I no longer need pre-eminence, position, plaudits, pity or popularity. I don't have to be right, first, tops, recognized, praised, regarded or rewarded. I now live by faith, lean on His presence, walk with His patience, live by prayer and labor with His power.

My face is set; my gait is sure; my goal is heaven; my road is narrow; my way is rough, my companions are few; my Guide is reliable; my mission is clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, deluded or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of the adversary, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity or meander in the maze of mediocrity because I have been sustained by Christ.

I won't give up, shut up, let up, until I have stayed up, stored up, prayed up, paid up, spoken up for the cause of Christ. I am a disciple of Jesus Christ. I must go till all know, and work till He stops me. And when He comes for His own, He will have no problem recognizing me. My banner is clear.

I am part of the fellowship of the unashamed.

Good morning Joan....

Hm definitly food for thought...." a made up mind..." this is something I need to read over and over again, taking it all in, everything author says...I am sure every word speaks the truth....

Same thing happening today, workers arrived dead on time, 9am, very punctual, I like that....got straight on with the work, I called out " are you ready for a cuppa..." main talker replied yes...." so on went the kettle.....Then soon after R called to me to come out the front and choose the colour of paint, and of which ones are available to use as from today, any other colour I choose would have to be ordered, well still haven't made up my mind, it is between two after ruling one out as too bright...
Well some banging, drilling noises have been going on, but today is another day to getting nearer to completion, so just have to grin and bare it for now.....

Anyway I am hoping Everyfriends day turns out a little quieter....

Amy

Good morning everyone.

We had frost!!! sure hope my garden is ok! Dil went home last night after 3 fun days .she did get her quilt almost put together and will work on it at home.

Wood is all piled now so that is one less job, garden needs to be weeded and that may be the job for today along with corralling up the dust bunnies.

I always take tea/coffee/water and eats to workers also. If your working longer than you thought you also get a meal .

Gloria, more cold weather coming your way. I wore a winter coat the other day while piling wood as we had a cold lazy wind, rather go through you than around you.

Joan,thank you for breakfast.

Enjoy your day everyone
I can't change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination.

Jackie, I have a handyman whose first words in the door are..."Do I smell coffee?"  My response is always "Your favorite mug is on the counter".  If there are cookies, he knows to help himself.  I think it might be our generation.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Another WM day...looking for smiling faces.  Friday tends to be a busy day and that makes the time go faster.

We had a cold night...low 40s and prediction is only in low 70s for today.  This is my kind of June but it's not going to be fun for the kids who take swimming lessons in the morning.

I wish you all a happy day!

Jane S, I think you may be right...." it was our generation...." as to when was the last time we saw a " gentleman " tip his cap and say good morning?.....Last time for me was a few years ago before MS, when out walking the streets with my dogs, walking along one quiet side road I passed on the other side of the road going in the opposite direction an elderly gent who done that to me....If I remember right maybe a Sunday morning typical of the older generation men, walking to the local newsagents to collect their Sunday morning paper....sadly this is slowly dying out....

Lloyd Hammond

Good Morning everyone. it is clear and sunny here today again, got to 93º yesterday . looking like a duplicating all week long. hope you all have a great day.

Vanilla-Jackie--You're slowly having things fixed and soon your home will be just like you want it.

Amy--Good morning.  Frost?  In June?  Sure hope it didn't destroy your garden.  So today you dance with the dust mop? :)

Good morning, Janie.  I always offer a cold or hot drink to any workmen here.  Nice that all the faces in your line at WM are wearing a smile.

Lloyd--Good morning.  Here it's again going to be hot and humid.

I'll be off to see my pulmonologist about 10:00 a.m.  My appointment is at 11:00 a.m., but it takes about an hour to get there.

Good morning everyone, warmer than yesterday but not too warm.

MAY ANN  my mouse is acting odd, too. If I hit the wrong key and hit the back space it the cursor will jump up to something I typed before and I have to go back and look for where I started typing was to get rid of the correction.

JUNE  glad you enjoyed the Minions. I would love to see the movie with them.

HAL  that stem cell work they are doing these days sounds promising.

JACKIE  wonderful custom to give the workers something to drink and snack on. My CNA is here at lunch time and on occasion she will make me something and I tell her to have some herself. She has told me they are not allowed to eat with their clients. They also can not accept anything from their clients.  I had a plant I wanted to get rid of, a cactus I could no longer handle. One of the CNA's  I had really liked it and I wanted to give it to her but she could not accept it.

JOAN  maybe I will try a breakfast  burrito this morning. One bite at least to try it. Never had a burrito of any kind. Really got a chuckle picturing this one. A Made up Mind is something we should all think about doing. Good quote, sounds like all the political campaigning going on here. Thank you for all today's goodies.

JACKIE  hope you and R decide on the same color.

AMY  your wind is like we had yesterday. Weather guesser said less wind today. Goodness hope the frost did not damage anything in your garden. Stacking wood is a hard job. Hope you have enough now for next winter.

JANE  this weather could be here all summer and I would love it.

JACKIE  when anyone holds a door open for me it always surprises me and I always thank them. Some people still have manners.

LLOYD  good morning, enjoy your day. Lot of drive by shootings in Providence, too.

JOAN  I wish you good news with your appointment today.

JACKIE  you hit it, RESPECT is something that is not taught much to the younger generation any more.

JEANNE  thanks for the reminder.

Good morning, Gloria.  My cursor does strange things, too.  Good for you for at least trying the burrito.  I remember when my kids were young and they'd stick their noses up at something I served, I told them they had to have a least one bite.

Good Morning Everyone!

Haven't stuck my nose out so don't know temp, suspect it is plenty warm, and suppose to be pop up showers later today.  Yard guy is coming to cut the yard, it is growing so fast.  Not used to that.

Yep Gloria the stem cell work is making progress finally.  And some things they thought could never be cured, well cures are in sight.  Except the common cold,
which, believe it or not does kill a lot of people.

Lloyd the killings of adults and children seems to be quite common now all over the world.  I cant help but believe that legal abortion helped to create the thought that killing is okay.

Coffee is ready, anyone want to join me on the patio for a cup.

Joanie, my granddaughter spent the night last night and at supper we had buttermilk pie and she stuck her nose up at it, finally got her to taste it, but she had made up her mind she didn't like it.  I sure did though.......

Hi everyone.  We are expecting our high today to be in the mid-90's so will be a good day to spend the afternoon inside where it is cool.

Yesterday turned out to be a great day as felt like my old self and really enjoyed coffee with the guys and the Wisdom group.  Pat finally completed a 1,000 piece jigsaw puzzle that was very difficult as the pieces were cut in really odd shapes.  She has been working on it for several weeks.

About the only thing on the schedule for today is that Pat has a 10:15 doctor's appointment.  I probably won't go with her as we have been there several times and the route, while taking about 25 minutes, is an easy one.  This will be the furthest she will have struck out on her own since we moved here.  Change of plans as I will drive her to the appointment after all.

Jenny, it sounds like Bob and his friends are untaking quite a job to put together a book.  Hope it goes will.

Joan, this sounds like your week for doctor appointments.

Don, the browser we are using, including the Window 10's EDGE do not impact on the coding here as the coding is a part of the software that runs this site.  To see all of the things available  just click on Preview when you are at the posting box and it will display the codes.  The Preview also will show you what your message will look like when it is completed.  The main things is to not to forget to then save the message or it won't be posted.

deAngel, several years ago Pat made several quilows and I think our son is still using one but it is about worn out.

Jackie, you treat the workmen very well.  I have offered a drink of water to workmen several times but they have declined and know they have water available to them on their truck.  Hope you find just the right color that you will be pleased with for your exterior.

Jeanne, do you get to see your twin great grandsons very often?

June, glad you finally got your pictures hung as you wanted them.  I bet it adds a lot to your apartment.

Shirley, it sounds like you are almost overdoing things.  Don't forget to rest and take care of yourself.  I never thought of having someone else do my whining.  :)

Molly, have you had your appointment yet to see about the headaches?  I know you mentioned it would be coming up some time ago.  Glad that Mohamed is going to be able to spend a couple of weeks away from the stress in his country and his papers to grade.  Have you heard from Chaps since he got to Korea?

Amy, is frost unusual for your area this time of the year.  Do you have a big garden?

Lloyd, we are having similar hot weather here in South Carolina.  I fear the gangs are beginning to run wide in many cities and murder seems to be a common thing.  It is bad enough to kill each other in gangs but so sad when innocent people, often children, are killed in a cross fire.  Atlanta is the same way.  Fortunately, murders are a rare occurrence where we now live although there are some occasionally.

Gloria, it makes a lot of sense for the CNA's to not accept gifts or meals from clients.  It is nice when people observe the rules.

Hal, I agree with you on your thoughts about the impact of abortion on the view towards killing.  We are also impacted from the various TV programs and then the terrible war and violence games that many young people play.  If you will send me your email address I will send you the code the Jeanne used to fix my weather gizmo.  I don't see it in your profile.

Shirley

Larry, I do so much whining all summer I really would like someone else to fill in for me so I don't come off as just a "b****y" old lady (which I am in the heat).

Amy, MOVE OVER.. I'd love to spend the summer where it is cool~  heading for the mountains in CO soon but they are also looking at high temps and so many trees have been cut down from the pine needle bug it is hard to find shade to park under.  But I'm willing to look... ;)

Hal, along with your thoughts I also think the next generation down was "hardened" by violent movies.  I still cringe at gory movies & want to come out smiling, not ready to up-chuck at the close ups of blood running. Not that I go to movies, if not on TV... I don't watch them.  I like happy movies or shows that we can sing the music for the next year (or 50).

Best wishes for a good report, Joan... my next cardio check is end of this month.  These pig heart valves are said to last 15 years, I'd like that extended since I've already used up 3 years.

Busy day so better get moving.    :coolsmiley:   This is me with my extreme dark tint & slightly too strong newish glasses.  Not sure why the tint turned out so dark but my own fault for telling the doctor that I was having trouble reading street signs with the old ones.  Didn't mention that I am heavy on the foot feed & might help if I slowed down to read them.   :crazy2:  I do think the LED lights are harder on eyes, so much brighter I need tint in the stores now.  Just thinking...........

JeanneP

I still find a little curtsy going on over here. This week a man did hold open a elivator door for me and another one in front let me go first. Cute one was a little boy about 7 opened the Library door and held it for me. So there is hope.  Now will say that most women do not practice doing it. Some let the door close in your face.

Bis, Thank you !!!!!!! I did applaud after reading.
A Made up Mind.  It says what I am aiming for in my present life. We are never too old, or to weak, to grow strong and determined to live each day to the fullest. With God, ALL things are possible. And the Thought of the Day, says it all in our present day "news".

Jackie, we were both impressed with todays messages. How gracious of R to respect your opinion on colors. My husband used his opinion on matters like that.

Amy your DIL sounds as dear and loved by you as my Dori is by me. Mine arrived yesterday with all the materials needed to hang pictures, and now my walls are beautifully decorated with my pictures of family on one wall, and my son's and mother's artistry on the other wall. even my bathroom has pictures.

Speaking of generational attitudes. I can't imagine a man tipping his hat to many women today. Womens' Rights have destroyed that gesture of respect. and the way some women dress now, the men may fear even recognizing them in politeness.

Bis, we once again are having an overcast day with sun finally giving us a wink at three this afternoon, then disappearing again. Better that than the summer heat. I would have welcomed this climate in Hemet where it was hot and dry.

Gloria, we have that ruling too, the people that work for us are not allowed to received gifts of any kind, or they could be fired.

Larry, you are correct. The pictures make this apartment my home. And the family grouping especially. I can see the faces that I pray for each morning, and enjoy their smiles throughout the day.

Shirley, I feel we can just be ourselves here at the S.S. If we need to gripe to our friends, they understand because we have all been there and done that ourselves. And you do not complain too much, you have an interesting life that you let us enjoy with you.

The workmen are doing something in our huge garden that requires a machine with a hose attached but a huge tree blanks out a portion of my view. I'm still in my p.j.'s at mid morning, so perhaps I will dress and go downstairs to view what is taking place. see you all later.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Shirley

A quick note (excuse to sit a second)... about my latest fiasco... was waiting until closer to time to depart before putting some stuff in the RV.  I've had it plugged into garage power for weeks to have frig & freezer cold.  I freeze Tupperware square boxes so I can put some in the 'frig when traveling down the road.  I don't want to travel with the propane on (supposed to be safe but I don't think so).

Anyway, was melting down as I went about organizing for the next trip & gave a thought to "why don't I have the AC on?"  I considered calling & asking my son if any special warnings about using it... but knew he was busy today.  Turned it on, sounded fine & I came back in the house as smug as can be.

Later was outside & didn't hear the AC running so went in to check.  Knew instantly what was wrong... I blew the garage fuse!  Oops, it isn't rated for "that much juice" so spent a week's worth of energy running down to the breaker box in the basement, no label for garage so looked for a switch out of line... only one so I tripped it.  Outside, woe is me, not the one.  Did this several times & gave up & called son.  He offered to come over since garage door opener won't close with that breaker off... & I insisted I'd try again.  Flipped every switch except ones marked pool & furnace... (will be resetting clocks for the next week!)  BUT I GOT IT RUNNING!  I am exhausted, dripping with sweat & need to run to the store so will just go like a bum & streak in & out.

Pollyanna always has to find something good about a problem, I sure got points with Fitbit on steps & stairs!!!   I'm rested & will change clothes to run to the store.  Thank you June for the kind words.  Glad you got your pictures on the wall.  I think you have a wonderful new home.

JoanFL

My trek to the doctor took MUCH longer than expected.  Mostly it was a case of "hurry up and wait".  All is OK.   I am going to eat lunch and the take a short nap.

I had a nice experience today and I'd like to share it.  Lately, I've taken to thanking people who I know are veterans but this morning there was a family who came through my line and they had an elderly gentleman in a wheel chair who was wearing a baseball cap that proclaimed him to be a veteran of WWII.  He didn't look very cheerful and the family seemed to be talking around him and over his head and I walked around the counter and held out my hand and said "Thank you for your service!"  His head came up and his face lit up and he shook my hand and said a resounding "Your welcome".  He was still smiling when they walked away.  I passed them a little later and he had relapsed into his unhappy face.  When he spotted me grinning at him, he waved and smiled all over his face.  It takes so little to make a person happy sometimes.

Today was a GOOD DAY!

I just returned from a loooooong stroll, both our side and inside. Covered all three floors and legs just barely cramped up, which is very good news. Soon will be time to go down for lunch. Just two programs to attend today, the Shuffleboard Tournament at 3p.m. and a documentary "Great Adventures: David Livingstone at 6:30, so this early afternoon with be a nice nap and reading.

Oh, my sweet Janie !!!!!  Thank you and I know God is Blessing you for that kind, sincere greeting you gave that Veteran. My eyes are full of happy tears. It takes so little on our part to give new hope to others.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Mary Ann

I have had no trouble with people being polite and holding doors.  And I hold them for others if they are near enough.  Where I notice it most is the “hamburg joint” where Dot and I eat Sunday mornings.  We always meet someone coming out or coming in and all of  us hold the doors for the others.

June, I don’t think there are enough men who wear hats these days.  So many young men wear caps with visors and often wear them backward.  They even keep them on when eating.  I think parents do not teach manners any more â€" perhaps please and thank you, but sometimes not even that.

Jane, go to the head of the line for politeness and thoughtfulness.  I’ll bet that vet of WW II will remember you for a long time.

Mary Ann

JoanFL

Janie--How very sweet of you to go out and acknowledge that vet.  I am sure it made his day--and yours, too.

June--You are doing so well with your walks.  Enjoy the programs you are going to be attending.

Mary Ann--Many of these young folks have NO manners at all.  When I see a male in a restaurant eating with his hat on, I am sooooooo tempted to go up to him and snatch the hat.  However, I really wouldn't dare for fear he'd pull a weapon.

If you sign into S & F using "EDGE", can you use all the formatting functions?

Well at last somethings going in my favour....I have been granted a " Blue Badge.." disabled parking.."...Haven't received it yet, they are asking for passport size photo, copy of utility bill, plus a £10 cheque, says It should arrive in 7 days once they receive the signed form back...I now have the envelope sealed and awaiting to post....

The reality is tough as I am now officially classed as disabled, or in hindsight, reading this...from the day I was diagnosed with MS.....Link....

Joanie, as a young man we were told take it off or get it knocked off.  Men were very diligent on many things in those days.  You didn't smoke in the presence of a lady without asking permission.  Always walked on the outside (next to street) when walking with a lady.  Always opened doors (car too) for ladies.  Plus some other things, but most don't even know rules much less follow them.  My Mother always insisted I follow them.  Hats were never worn inside.  By the way in the military the same rule applies.  When under cover take your hat off.

JoanFL

Vanilla-Jackie--Seems they handle these disabled tags/plates differently in many places.  As I said earlier, mine had to be signed by my doctor and didn't cost a cent.

Janie--How right you are.

halkel--Those rules of yore sure aren't followed by many today--truth to be known most youngsters probably aren't taught manners/courtesy.

LARRY - Many thanks for thinking of David.  In fact I received an brief email from him today letting me know that he had arrived safely and was getting around his new base, meeting fellow Officers and soldiers and learning about his duties.  He'll stay in touch once he is settled in a bit more.  But I am so very grateful to all Friends who have kept him in prayers as he transferred to Korea AND especially for the prayers for his safety and that of his family while he is away.  I thank all of you who have taken the time to offer prayers and good wishes for David and his family!
