Halkel, you will be in my thoughts as you start your oncology treatment.....I am still awaiting my scan appointment, re, my urinary bleed, at times I am aware of a burning sensation down below, mainly as I sit but, NOT when I wee......so I guess at times, my mind is going ten to the dozen.....More so that I still have this bleed a year after they operated on me....three weeks after my MS diagnoses last April....

Good Wednesday morning, Everyfriend.  There's sausage, egg and cheese croissants to accompany your coffee or tea. I wish everyone a good day!!

Newspaper Errors

A newspaper is a daily marvel, even a miracle. Limitless possibilities exist for error, human and mechanical. Add the crushing pressure of deadlines, and it's surprising there aren't more mistakes.

When goofs do occur, editors scurry to print corrections, even though we often prefer the misprint to the corrected version. Here just a few samples:

1. IMPORTANT NOTICE: If you are one of hundreds of parachuting enthusiasts who bought our Easy Sky Diving book, please make the following correction: on page 8, line 7, the words "state zip code" should have read "pull rip cord."

2. It was incorrectly reported last Friday that today is T-shirt Appreciation Day. In fact, it is actually Teacher Appreciation Day.

3. There was a mistake in an item sent in two weeks ago which stated that Ed Burnham entertained a party at crap shooting. It should have been trap shooting.

4.From a California bar association's newsletter: Correction -- the following typo appeared in our last bulletin: "Lunch will be gin at 12:15 p.m." Please orrect to read "12 noon."

5. We apologize to our readers who received, through an unfortunate computer error, the chest measurements of members of the Female Wrestlers Association instead of the figures on the sales of soybeans to foreign countries.

6. In Frank Washburn's March column, Rebecca Varney was erroneously identified as a bookmaker. She is a typesetter.

7. There are two important corrections to the information in the update on our Deep Relaxation professional development program. First, the program will include meditation, not medication. Second, it is experiential, not experimental.

8. Our article about Jewish burial customs contained an error: Mourners' clothing is rent -- that is, torn -- not rented.

9. In the City Beat section of Friday's paper, firefighter Dwight Brady was misidentified. His nickname in the department is "Dewey." Another firefighter is nicknamed "Weirdo." We apologize for our mistake.

10. Just to keep the record straight, it was the famous Whistler's Mother, not Hitler's, that was exhibited. There is nothing to be gained in trying to explain how this error occurred.

11. Our newspaper carried the notice last week that Mr. Oscar Hoffnagle is a defective on the police force. This was a typographical error. Mr. Hoffnagle is, of course, a detective on the police farce.

12. Yesterday we mistakenly reported that a talk was given by a bottle-scared hero. We apologize for the error. We obviously meant that the talk was given by a battle-scarred hero.

13. In a recent edition, we referred to the chairman of Chrysler Corporation as Lee Iacoocoo. His real name is Lee Iacacca. The Gazette regrets the error.

14. Apology: I originally wrote, "Woodrow Wilson's wife grazed sheep on front lawn of the White House." I'm sorry that typesetting inadvertently left out the word "sheep."

15. In one edition of today's Food Section, an inaccurate number of jalapeno peppers was given for Jeanette Crowley's Southwestern chicken salad recipe. The recipe should call for two, not 21, jalapeno peppers.

16. The marriage of Miss Freda vanAmburg and Willie Branton, which was announced in this paper a few weeks ago, was a mistake which we wish to correct.

Food For Thought

Dear Lord
By Wendy Blight

Dear Lord, I don't know who or what will cross my path today. But I do know that You are my Rock and my Fortress. You are my Shield and my Strong Tower. Help me to anchor myself to You today. Teach me how to stand strong in You and choose only Your way today. Help me walk by Your truth and not my feelings.
Help me to embrace anything that comes my way as an opportunity to see You at work and as an opportunity to point others to You.
Thank You that You love me and nothing can ever take that away from me! Even if I fail today and fall short, You whisper Your unconditional love deep into my soul and remind me that Your mercies are new every morning.
That truly amazes me, Lord.
Thank You for meeting with me today. Would You wake me again tomorrow with the same sweet whisper of Your love? I can't wait to meet with You again. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Good morning Joan, ....I would happily join you in sausages but I have just this minute eaten my Kellogs K with a mixture of berries and yoghurt, best stay with the healthier, if I want to lose weight....
................................
Just spotted "metal man " driving in his van past our home down towards the site office, I am hoping he stops by us on his way out, to tell me my metal rails are soon to be installed.....I need something to cheer me uk, I am starting to call this new home, our " jinxt " home.....

Plumber did not turn up yesterday but Phyl, site manager popped down to tell us he got held up and if he doesn't come he will be here this morning....it is almost 10am, and no phonecall or van as yet....Phyl did hand R a metal piece and said this is what he will install, with the follow up words of, if you need it, but I dont think you will..." as to meaning if we have another full blown leak, R has the part in his hand to repair it...hm I dont think so....

I phoned next door neighbour, asked how hubby is, and asked that she did get her lift to the hospital yesterday ok...Told her in hindsight that we were right next to Dorchester hospital where we took our Toby for grooming, I wasn't sure that was the hospital her hubby had been in for the day, but she ( Isme ) said yes it was....I told her that any time she needs taking to the hospital again to let us know.....

Good Morning everyone Hope you all have a great day'

Metal man never stopped by our place......plumber has just left,.....plumber was knowledgeable, fast and done more than expected including we asked him if he could take a look at my shower, thats if he wasn't pushed for time, which he was happy to do.....my shower is a Triton, rusty chrome and very very stiff to turn, he said it would be best to install a new shower, a Mira would be the best, he will get onto our site manager who will pass on his quote.... We are happy to go with this plumber, says he has done other work on our site naming my American friend as one client, re, new shower....In all the 2 months we've been here, I have only used this shower once, and on that occasion the water came out a little too hot for me, when I tried to adjust it, it froze up, and water stopped dead, just when I had wet my hair and put shampoo on it.....It has been back to a once a week bath, the bath here is longer, slimmer, deeper and more slippery, so its a straight in and a straight out....

Edited, well thats a turn up for the books.....just popped to the kitchen to make another cup of tea when outside the window I spotted metal man already fixing my metal rails, I had no clue he was here, nor did R, he is drilling away as I type, nice patterned and scrolled silver ones.... I am just making him a cup of tea and then leave him to get on with it, thank heavens one piece, or two, of luck is starting to go my way, just what I need to buck me up again....

As for the leak yesterday, now that was frightening, never witnessed water gushing out like that before, so strong and so fast...

Amy

Good morning
Lovely sunny day here..yesterday we got the tiller home so I had a dance with it and got my garden tilled.  We put up two birdhouses on the entrance way into the garden and I think both have been spoken for. Swallows sat on the cross beam chattering at me as I worked...nice to have the company  When I farmed and cut hay they would be flying over and very close to me,making me laugh out loud at times. Good job no one was around or they would think I had lost my marbles  :2funny:

Going to tidy up the garden by raking it and maybe next week I can plant it.

Joan, thank you for breakfast.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning/afternoon, Vanilla-Jackie.  You certainly have a lot of activity going on at your house.  Hopefully by day's end everything will be done.  Thanks for the link.  I was never that agile.

Lloyd.--Good morning.

Amy--Good morning.  Now that you aren't dancing with the snow shovel or snow blower, you found two more dancers--the tiller and the rake.  Oh my--how you love to dance.:)

It stopped raining, so I am going out to do a few errands a little later.

Joan,I went for a walk this morning with the Border Collie, oh my what sights and sounds we saw and heard!!! The music we listened to was from the Song Birds , and we saw deer tracks, wish we could have seen one still using the tracks though. Next we came upon a pond, box turtle sunning itself shining on a dead terr limb...next we happened upon a beaver swimming in the pond. He didn't see us at first but then...the big tail slap echoing in the early morning ,making Babe flinch.
Our 2 mile walk was full of excitement this morning.. :smitten:

Guess I had better get to work...

Hi everyone.  After a rainy day yesterday today is starting out overcast but we should see some sun later today with only a slight chance of rain.  I was able to get my car air conditioning fixed yesterday.  I took it in at eleven and got it back at 5 pm.  All car repair is expensive and this was no exception as needed a part and then the labor involved.  They called after looking at the car to see if I had replaced the timing belt as it was past the mileage before it needed to be changed.  Fortunately the friend I bought it from gave me very good records and I was able to determine that it had been changed at 83,000 miles so no need to change it again at this point.  That job would have cost me $1,200 dollars so I felt like I got a raise yesterday but not needing to have that work done.  Today the main activity is our Wednesday night dinner at church and spending time with Scott afterwards.  I have a number of small tasks that need doing here and will try to get some, if not all of them done, today.

Jackie, you are certainly right about sometimes are options are limited by circumstances.  You should be much safer with the railing installed.

Gloria, when we lived in Alaska we had hot water baseboard heating and it was very good as it kept the whole house at about the same temperature.  It was the best we ever had until we moved to this house and the heat pump does a great job of keeping the temperature just where we set it.

Sandy, as far as I know most houses have the registers in the ceilings but the air is forced down.  The placement is good for air conditioning.

Beverly, the problem with a wood or coal stove is that you can get too warm on one side very quickly.  We had the that type of heat on the farm as I was growing up.

Molly, I guess the news media considers the violence in the streets of Egypt old news as I can't remember seeing or even reading anything about it for quite awhile.  It has to be very nerve racking to face that type of situation every day.  Glad you have your Chocolate ice cream when you need to deal with the stress.

Hal, I would think four inch hail would strip all vegetation and do terrible damage.

Joan, I really liked the Newspaper Errors in your Chuckles for today.

Lloyd Hammond

Larry >> your quot below ( It also puts dents in aluminium truck cabs that you can put your fist in and straight edge across the top of it and knocks holes in my tailor you could drop a soft ball through.

Amy--You sure had a lovely walk this morning.

Good morning, Larry.  Lucky your friend kept such good records and you didn't need a timing belt.  It was good you were able to get the a/c fixed.

Good Morning Everyone!

Just got back from picking up my meds and it wasn't too bad.  Things were quite, but picking up on my drive back home.

Amy, envy you on your walk.  Wish I could get out like I used to.  Those old Beavers do make a loud report when they slap the water with their tails.  Just like a gun going off.

Jackie good news on getting the rails installed and by the sound of it he did a really good job.

Lloyd it is unreal what damage hail can do.  Our storm last night was full of lightening and thunder but no real high winds or hail.  Only about 1 inch of rain in the rain gauge this morning.  More due today and tomorrow.......

Molly, hope you hubby makes it home.  He needs some time off.  And you all need some time together.

Got to go back out, so talk to you later.

Good Morning from a cool and cloudy, (Again!); Interior!

Joan, I too enjoyed your Chuckles this morning and copied it to a folder. I find that the older I get, the more I am amused these days. Not a pox on your offering, but an observation I've made lately upon finding or surprising myself in laughing out loud. I think I tried to be less so as a manager while working.

Jackie, good to see things and tradesmen are working out  for you these days!

Amy, I would love to visit and go on walks with you! Since 2014, I've had difficulties just staying limber or at least sooner working out the kinks!

We have many, many beavers here in town with five rivers winding in and out, some like a bow surrounding the town. Many if not most of the trees along the banks are festooned with wire netting.

Lloyd, Hal, we've had that type of hail here. In one July afternoon in years past, mid-nineties, the hail did some damaged and looked like snow covering everything!

Good Morning...everyone sounds chipper and up to a round or two this morning..round or two of what....I'm not sure, but whatever "floats your boat", according to Bis.

I'm going down to Bible study at ten o'clock so I had better get my bed made and myself ready. I don't know who will be leading it. Our Pastor has not been well, so maybe my Gary will fill in, we shall see.

Time to fly, but I shall return. Hugs all around. June
As long as we are here, let's dance.

halkel--Hallelujah!!  Yesterday we got 2.5" of rain.  They say we'll get more this afternoon.

angelface--It doesn't take must to get me to chuckle these days.  Once in a long while I am cranky and don't find anything funny, but those are rare occasions.

June--It seems "whatever floats your boat" today is Bible study.  If Gary is there, I know it'll be great for you.

Good afternoon, had another night where sleep stayed away. Fell asleep around 5 and the sound of my answering machine woke me. My CNA calling to tell me she was on the way. Been out of sync since then. Nice spring day here at last, windows open again and only a light breeze.

JOAN  I was just thinking it was time for me to get something to eat, your breakfast  would be wonderful right now. Have not even had my breakfast yet. Love the Newspaper Errors. Those papers need some good proof readers. Thank you for today's goodies.

AMY  that walk you took is the kind I miss. Nothing like being outside in the early morning when all the critters are waking.

Think I will go have a nap, still feel sleepy.

Hello Everyfriend!  I think we all caught colds. It's not any warmer in Texas so far than it is in PA. Thank goodness they didn't grab until after the wedding.

I've always found it easy to laugh. The only time I try to refrain is when I know it will hurt someone feelings or pride.

I wish you all exactly what you wish for yourselves. Have a great day!

Bis, Pastor Norval was all healed up..hale and hearty so he was able to be with us this morning. Good studies.

Then I went to our in-house library, then on to lunch with friends. I had a breakfast instead of lunch. delicious scrambled eggs and bacon, Juice, toast, coffee and since it was lunch hour, I had choc. pudding for dessert. In another half hour I will be going back downstairs for another program of discussion of news.

Next is Coca Cola floats with possible sing-a-long. Then home to minding my own business for the rest of the day. I could go down for supper, but I usually choose to have a light meal at home and more relaxation.

Gloria, I'm sorry you had a bad night. I hate those nights…they seem to go on forever. and it sure does kick the heck out of the next day. Hope you do much better tonight. At least we no longer have to worry about daily duties getting finished..no little kids coming home from school, no weary husband coming home from work, our time is our own. To bad is was the CNA day, but i'm sure she understood.

Time to get downstairs for the next go around, then home to relax. See you then. June

HAL and Larry - Many thanks for thinking of Mohamed today.  I truly appreciate all FRIENDS here who also keep he and his family in regular prayer.  When we talk on the phone, I always listen very, very carefully to the tone of his voice, which gives me a clear idea of how upset he is.  Today he told me that he was seriously considering calling for an emergency appointment with his Dr. (who is also a long-time friend), since he has had headaches all last night and again this morning as well.  There usually is more information about Egypt in the International news than in the local news throughout the USA.  And occasionally the PRB evening program will have guests who discuss the situation.  Again, my deep thanks to all Friends who keep Mohamed in prayers.

JoanFL

Janie--I'm sorry you've all got colds, but at least they didn't come before the wedding.

June--Glad Pastor Neal is healed and could be with you for Bible Study.  You had a busy day.

Molly--Sorry Mohamed is suffering with headaches.  I pray he got in to see his doctor for some relief.

Sent an email but was returned as wrong address so look in messages.
Sorry you did not sleep and I know how long those nights can be. I usually get up and take my music to bed with me, have a UE and have put 35 songs of yesteryear on there.

June Drabek

Molly, I pray Mohamed was able to see his doctor about the headaches. I am sure he is under terrible tension, and it makes it very difficult for you too. How have your headaches been ? Any improvement ?

Janey, I'm so sorry you came home with a cold. Does W.M. excuse you from work when you have a cold? I would think they would.

Bis, I am worn out. That last trip downstairs did it. I have got to realize I cannot do it all anymore. I am all settled in for the night. Only two things on tomorrows agenda and I may skip one of those.

Some of you will be getting ready for bed soon, I've still got the evening left.

Got close up yesterday after metal man had left to check the connections of back garden metal handrail, and where he had dug deep into stone pebbles and soil ( using cement ) I notice the top bolster ( I call them bolsters, ) has come apart from the top decking step, have separated.....The step is not so much loose but not as secure...I called R to take a look, he cant see it, but you only have to compare this side to the other side which were identical to see the difference, it is so obvious, you can see the gap....plus we had words on my usage of the word ( bolster ) he doesn't know what I am referring to when I call it a bolster, so I asked him what does he call it, he said a telegraph pole.... ::)......Anyway I don't think anything can be done if I call metal man back, the damage has already been done, and R doesn't see anything different between the two sides anyway....as I say, this would be obvious to any person....well if the step comes loose, which I am sure it will do eventually, I will be in for a nasty surprise.....

Our parkhome sites AGM meeting tonight, we will be attending....I cant have a bath, I cant have a shower....R is leaving bath side panel and wooden flooring ( the surrounds ) complete with nails standing up inside the bath....he wont be  sorting any new flooring until he hears from the Insurance company first... ::).....even though he has sufficient money to do the work first.....

Edited 8.35 am, Insurance comp has been on the phone, they will be sending an assessor out possibly sometime today to do a check over...
