Jenny--I am so sorry both you and your son got hurt when there are more things you planned to do in the Chicago area.

Sandy--Maybe she needs an x-ray?

Janie--Glad you're home safe and sound.  Although the sweet doggies had a great sitter, they love to be with "Mom".

This has been a very odd day for me. Our Church service was so special. We had two very wonderful speakers. One was a "teacher of preachers" at Fulller Theological Seminary and the other was a retired Marine, in full Dress Uniform, and he is active in Music and Children.s Ministry at his Church. He sang two Hymns for us...beautiful strong voice. I left feeling very tired.....weepy even, and my mind was so full it wore me out. So I came home, put on relaxing clothes, and have just stayed put all day long. Not "me" at all. Some things you can't fight, you just have to go with the flow, and that is what I am doing.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Gloria

Gloomy here all day but the sun broke through for 10 minutes at 7:30. Nice, just so we do not forget what sunshine is.

PATRICIA  at times I am sorry I got this new computer. Might have done better to somehow get the old one to a shop to have them go over it. I refuse to let myself get depressed.

JOAN  I don't have breathing problems but humidity always has me feeling like every thing is wrong.

CAROL  I cannot do much these days and it bothers me to see someone else doing what I always did. The CNA I have is great and she always gets me laughing. That political woman is someone I would not vote for if she believes Neil Armstrong walked on Mars. Something not right in her brain.

GLORIA de  we had one short shower this afternoon. Here, too, it will be in the low 80's Wednesday.

JENNY  ouch,  not great hearing a snap in your foot. Will you have it checked in case a bone is broken? Bad timing to happen when you are on a vacation.

JANE  best news of the day, you are home safe and sound again. I bet your fur babies will not let you out of their sight for a few days.

LLOYD  thank you for the link. I think it is the most beautiful youtube I have seen.  Thank you.

Have a good night everyone.

Beverly

Jane S. - Can just see your doggies celebrating your homecoming!

Jenny - I'm so sorry about your foot. As Joan said, an X-ray might be a good idea. Your poor son! What an accident!

June - Hope you are feeling more like yourself tomorrow. It sounds as if your church service was very emotional for you. I'm an emotional person and joke about even crying over the Maxwell House commercials on TV at Christmas time!  :)

Lindancer - Speaking of emotional, I was very touched by your bee story at your son's funeral.

Lloyd - Thank you for the YouTube. It's a beautiful song.

Amy - I am originally from Vermont and your life is a lot like many of the people I know.

Gloria - I'm living in Florida now but you are right. The weather in Vermont can become very humid during the summer. Even more-so here but at least we all have central A/C, which I didn't have there!

Patricia - Hope your weather improves soon. Too many gloomy days can wear on a person.

It has been another beautiful day here. Very warm but fairly low humidity.

Good night all.

June Drabek

Welcome home Janie...I can feel the joy in your home tonight.

Beverly, I confess that I too am an emotional human being. My brother used to laugh at me when we were kids as I could cry so easily over sad happenings. But I can be easily elated too.Nothing wrong with our personalities, but today was a really strange happening. Home was the best choice for me.

Jenny,my thoughts and prayers are with you dear one. I hope you will wake tomorrow with no more pain.

Tomorrow at 1:30 they are showing the movie Fiddler on the  Roof..one of my favorites, so I will be re-watching that.

As long as we are here, let's dance.

halkel

Oh boy, I hope you didn't mess a tendon up in your foot.

Janie, glad you got home okay.  I know the pups were elated you were back home.

On the way home from my Granddaughters we came across a car that had crashed into the light pole just down the street from my house.  A young couple were in it and one of them had hurt her wrist, no other injuries.  Except, the car was a mess and the metal light pole was on the ground.  We stopped and my Granddaughter let them use her phone to call 911, the folks in the wreck couldn't locate theirs.

I am tired to the bone and going to bed.

Nite, nite, God Bless and sweet dreams.

JaneS

I fell asleep on the sofa snuggled up to two doggies and now I'm off to bed.  So I will say...

Good night Everyfriend!  Sweet dreams and God bless us, every one!

Jenny, oh what bad luck, just needs one thing, or two to mar what should be an enjoyable adventure...Dont ignore that foot, something happened to me several years ago, I took myself to outpatients first thing on a Sunday morning after the day before walking home with my late Petra when all of a sudden I heard a crack whilst wearing trainers and almost home. Hospital sent me home, told me to put a bag of frozen peas on it, no x-ray, walked in agony, foot on its side for a month or so until it subsided only to find out some years later when I saw a foot expert as to having my bunion removed, the first thing he said to me was..." when did you break your foot...."

JoanFL

Good Monday morning, Everyfriend.   There's your choice of hot or cold cereal and your choice of fruit to accompany your coffee or tea . I wish everyone a nice day!!

CHUCKLES

The Last Word

There was a feud between the Pastor and the Choir Director of The Hicksville Southern Baptist Church.

It seems the first hint of trouble came when the Pastor preached on "dedicating yourselves to service" and the Choir Director chose to sing: "I Shall Not Be Moved."

Trying to believe it was a coincidence, the Pastor put the incident behind him.

The next Sunday he preached on "giving." Afterwards, the choir squirmed as the Director led them in the hymn: "Jesus Paid It All."

By this time, the Pastor was losing his temper. Sunday morning attendance swelled as the tension between the two built. A large crowd showed up the next week to hear his sermon on "the sin of gossiping."

Would you believe the Choir Director selected: "I Love To Tell The Story."

There was no turning back. The following Sunday the Pastor told the congregation that unless something changed he was considering resignation. The entire church gasped when the Choir Director led them in: "Why Not Tonight."

Truthfully, no one was surprised when the Pastor resigned a week later; explaining that Jesus had led him there and Jesus was leading him away.

The Choir Director could not resist: "What A Friend We Have In Jesus."

Food For Thought

Growing in the Faith
(by Rebecca Bugg)

When my oldest son went off to a state university, I was concerned that he would lose the faith that he had developed over the years. I prayed long and hard that God would give him a Christian roommate for that freshman year, someone who would not lead him astray.. or attempt to lead him astray. Instead, Jim was given an atheist roommate from New York. In every way he was different from Jim. He was a "messy" who left old Pizza boxes and crusty underwear lying around the room for months at a time, while Jim's side of the room was neat and organized. And he constantly picked at Jim about his faith, belittling him and asking him picky questions. One day in the Spring, when Jim and I were talking, I apologized to him and said that I couldn't understand why God had not answered my prayer. Jim, in the wisdom of his youth, said, "Mom, weren't you really praying that my faith would continue to grow and be strengthened? If that was what you wanted, I want you to know that I have grown more this year than in any previous year. I had to search the scriptures for myself, because I couldn't come to you and ask questions." He was right, of course.

Our God is an AWESOME God!!

Thought of the Day

In later years John Quincy Adams suffered illness. When someone shook his hand and inquired about his health, the elderly statesman is said to have replied, "John Quincy Adams is well, quite well, I thank you. But the house in which he lives at present is becoming quite dilapidated. It is tottering upon its foundations. Time and the seasons have nearly destroyed it. Its roof is pretty well worn out. Its walls are much shattered, and it trembles with every wind. The old tenement is becoming almost uninhabitable, and I think John Quincy Adams will have to move out of it soon. But he himself is quite well, quite well."

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Well, I'm up but I'm not sure I'm "attem" yet.  We'll see what transpires.  All I've put on my agenda for today is to unpack my suitcase, go to the bank, pick up Kiran after school and love up the doggies.  I think I can handle that!

I hope you all have a lovely day and I've heard that when Amy finishes helping her friend with windows, she's coming by here and do mine...I'll even help her!

Jane, I would love to do that with you....after I give and get huggies from your doggies.. :smitten:

Amy--Good morning.  How nice of you to help your friend wash windows.  Kelly hasn't been here for several days.  I hope he is OK.

Good morning, Janie.  I don't blame you for loving up those sweet doggies.  I heard Amy was coming here to wash windows, too.:)  Oh how I'd love some hugs from your and Amy's dogs.

Good Monday afternoon, a dry, part sunny, part cloudy, but pleasantly warm day....

Just had a chat over the phone with my new Doctor, re, she put in an appointment re, my urinary bleed to go and have a scan at the hospital, as its now going on 7 weeks, she said it will come through in 4 weeks, she has now checked her screen with apologies that she didn't put it through...now I have to go in collect a urine sample bottle, drop it off, and start all over again, re, referring me for my scan, another 4 plus weeks to wait...I told her I still have the bleed, have had it daily for the past year or so, to add to this bleed I now feel some burning, stinging....I'm convinced I have an infection as my previous Continence Nurse done a test which she said t did show a possible infection, yet, GP sample test came back as clear....

Gloria

Good morning everyone,  looks like it will be a nice day here but overnight and into tomorrow morning a chance of rain and thunder storms. As long as it ends by noon that's OK.

BEVERLY  Vermont is the only New England state I never spent much time in. I would never be able to live in the southern states. I still like winter even with snow. I don't have to drive in it or shovel it anymore.

HAL  too close to your home for that accident. Just heard on the news here there was a crash on the interstate with a driver going in the wrong direction. Both drivers were killed. Every time I hear about someone driving the wrong way I wonder how they can get in the wrong side of those roads. The ramps are marked clearly. How they can go up an off ramp is odd.

JANE  I can picture you and the doggies cuddled together on the sofa. Reminds me of my son's dog that wold always greet me when I wnt there. She would follow me like a shadow. I even had a hard time getting out of my car with her trying to get in the door “talking” the whole time. When I helped at the orchard stand she was always there with me.
LLOYD  hope you slept better last night.

JOAN  hot cereal for me with blueberries. Thanks. Oh boy The Last Word made me chuckle and I copied. Will be sending that on. Love Food for Thought. We all worry about of children when they are on their own for the first times. Great quote. Thank you for all today's goodies.

AMY  have fun washing those windows. Not the first time Kelly did not post for awhile.

JANE  hope you have a restful day.

JOAN  I am with you for some doggie hugs. I sure miss having a dog around. Cannot pet the seeing eye dog here.

JACKIE  glad we don't have to wait that long for doctor appointments.

After my first and only meeting with my new female Doctor, I came away on the fence not making my mind up whether we have a good doctor or not, as she seemed quick and straight on the ball, hm, I think my mind maybe now made up....
Just back from the surgery reception after collecting my urinary sampler container...

Hi everyone on a beautiful clear and sunny Monday morning with zero chance of rain for the next 48 hours.  I will take advantage of this good weather to spray a bug barrier around the house.  Today I also must finally report my flowers on the front porch.  It isn't hard to do but something I have been putting off.  We had a wonderful church service yesterday that highlighted our graduating high school seniors and others pursuing further education.  Twenty-seven scholarships were awarded.  The senior class members conducted the entire service including two young women speaking of the impact our church has had on their lives from being infants until this point in their lives.  It was obvious that many parents and other relatives were in attendance as the church was close to full.

I plan on attending my weekly meeting at noon and then Scott will be coming over to have a meal with us (don't know whether Pat will cook or we will go out to eat) and then just have an enjoyable day with him.

Don, sounds like you are doing very well on your rehab program.

June, about the only snail mail we receive are bills and some magazines and advertising materials.  Sometimes smaller packages are left in the mail box as the mail carrier is now delivering a lot of package that UPS or FedEx used to delivery.  I couldn't begin to use a treadmill anymore.

Gloria, I think our weather here in South Carolina would be tough without the ceiling fans.  We use them summer and winter.  We have them in everyroom except the kitchen area and the bathrooms and hallway.

Patricia, i agree that a sunny day certainly helps one's spirits.  I think you might win the prize in terms of using the oldest computer.  I don't think I ever heard of anyone using the same computer for 16 years.

Carol, I highly recommend finding someone to clean your house.  It has been most helpful to us and we have used a housekeeper every two weeks probably for 15 years or more, except the first few months we lived here and Pat struggled to get it done.

Jenny, it sounds like you could have broken a bone in your foot.  There are many small bones in our feet.  Stacey had over 21 breaks in her one foot and they would just break without any reason.  A frightening accident experienced by your son.  It sounds like you will need to come home in a wheelchair.

Jane, glad you are home safely.  It sounds like you had a pretty great and enjoyable trip.  I hope you have a nice restful day today as you recover from your travels.

JoanFL

Janie--Thanks.  Those dogs do give good hugs.

Vanilla-Jackie--Good morning/afternoon. Sorry you are having so much trouble getting appointments.

Good morning, Gloria.  I often hear on the news about drivers getting on the interstate going the wrong way.  I think they either don't see well or are DUI.  I miss having a dog, too.

Larry--Good morning.  Nice that the graduating seniors etc. have an opportunity to participate in the church service and give overviews about how the church impacted their lives.  Enjoy your time with Scott today.

Jackie.
Seem so different up North In UK. 3 years back I got that blood scare also. Went up to the Clinic about a mile from cousins house with specimen. (Sometimes wrong soap will do that to me). They scanned it right away and gave me a prescription to take for a few days.  Last time I went up with a strep throat. Did the same thing.  Crazy to make a person wait a month to see what something is.  I can still use the Nat. Health over there. as I have a number.

Jeanne P, this time last year they were looking for cancer, but found, and took out, only polyps....they were concerned on the thickness of my womb last year.....A year down the line I still have a daily bleed. I am not really bothered but as I said at the same time today's GP said, this is something that shouldn't be ignored....My scan appointment will now be at least 7 weeks overdue due to her mistake....
Is the NHS any better over there? I think you can tell I am not a lover of it....

June Drabek

Bis, I think many of us here can relate to John Quincy Adams statement on his health. I know I do, and I am copying this down to pass on to others that feel as I do. Thank you.

Vanilla, an abnormal bleeding is not NORMAL, and any doctor that disregards it over the length of time you have had it ought to be dismissed from practice.

Larry, I have quite a number of friends who are not computer users, and rather than make expensive phone calls, they write letters. Most of them don't have cell phones either. My replies are all done on the computer and printed out, so I am still helping out the U.S. mails with my stamp buying.

It is now late mid-morning in my area and early afternoon on the right coast, and lunch time for Hal and those in the mid country. I have no reason to leave my "nest" till lunch time, so having the bed still un-made has not bothered my conscience.

I had to spend about an hour looking up three dimensional things. width, length and height,  and the fourth which would be space, correct ? It was the book "Jesus Calling" that got me interested in this neglected part of my education. Math was my worst enemy in schooling.

Add me to the list that misses having a doggy to love. I realized a dog in my life now would not be a "life" for the dog, or a cat, or a bird or anything that needs care. The love we have plenty of and to share, but the actual care would be sadly lacking. The most I can do properly now is water the few plants I have. And now is the time to do that.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

JoanFL

June--I just finished my lunch--some yummy chicken noodle soup that a neighbor brought to me.   I would dearly love having a dog.  But since we aren't allowed fenced in yards here, and since I am in no condition to take one for a walk, there's no way I can have one.

Good Morning from another rainy Interior day. More rain expected through the end of the month.

Nothing much going on here today but piddling stuff and cleaning. Farrah is more out than under the bed and when I didn't immediately go fetch her food, she ran to me, around me and whined at me. Whenever I turned towards the kitchen she would immediately pace just ahead, in case she needed to herd me off from any detours. It put me in the mind of television's old cattle drives!
