Good Morning everyone.top of the day girls and Larry . Larry it is. I just woke up a few min. ago to the sound of a good rain and the roiling of the patio bins. Nancy and I planted plants in the raised Bins in the start of the new greenhouse. God sure takes care. Larry I sure thank you for the rt. click on the red lined words. I need to catch the sun out and take pictures of the greenhouse in progress. and have you show me how to post them here. every one have a great day.

Lloyd

Gloria

Good morning everyone. Have a dentist appointment today, another tooth going by by. She already took the mold for a new partial so hope this heals fast. Woke later than I wanted so am behind now. Just time for my coffee and  start getting ready for my ride. We are having showers today. Then it will get summer temperatures. Glad my AC is is.

JOAN  maybe I should have 2 lemon DD's now. Will be the last thing I will eat today. I do dread what comes after the extraction because I like and trust the dentist.  Today's goodies are all great and I enjoy all. Thank you for these and all you start our days with. I know it is time consuming for you.

Sorry but no time to sit and chat this morning.

Plumber is here, new shower hose, lever taps and slide bar, I've got the lot, I am leaving him to it, not the same man that was here last week, day of the bathroom flooding, but another young man who seems just as competent and quick.....
Cant wait for it to be installed, yey, I can have a decent shower.... happy, jumping up and down smiley....

Gloria, I guess you are referring to losing a tooth today, but I pray that " going by by..." is still here to stay, if they can find a solution on keeping it for you.....

halkel

Good Morning Everyone!

Cloudy day, looks like it wants to rain.

Nothing much going on here.  Have to check the oil in my wifes car.  And that is about it.

Larry, I know the feeling about stooping and then can straighten up.  Ah the golden years.

Jackie, I know you are happy the plumbers are finally finishing up things.  Hope you get the nurse on a regular schedule.  About the mumbling......well, loose lips sink ships. And best made plans.

Got to get out and check that car.......

Vanilla-Jackie

Halkel, have to admit you are right, this came back to bite me, shan't do it again.....just that I mumbled soon after another bout of abuse....

Plumber still here bt he is drilling away so I know I am nearer to having that shower....

JoanFL

Vanilla-Jackie--Glad the plumber finally came.  I am sure it'll feel good to take a shower.

Good morning, Larry.  Your supper last night sounds sooooo good.

angelface--Good morning.  Some people just think they don't have to obey the rules.  Shame on person(s) who stole the pictures.

Good morning, Lloyd.  A good rain should make you plants really grow.

Gloria--Good morning.  Have a handful of lemon DDs since you won't be eating after the extraction.  Thanks for acknowledging what I do here.

Good morning halkel.  Could you please send some rain this way?

Plumber father of plumber boy turned up, had a lengthy chat on what is being done and what will be done tomorrow morning and why,..... we are now also getting a brand new wooden bath panel...much better than the flimsy split plastic panel we now have got.....So some good does come out some bad......

Edited, shower is now fitted and working...looks straightforward to operate, just a simple turn to the right or left for hot or cold water, no push in levers to override the temperature like from the Triton shower....Only one query when I asked what make, meaning model of Mira, he thought I was asking what make of shower and told me Bristan, I repeated my question and asked which Mira shower I had, he again told me the shower brand is Bristan, well I have never heard of that make, and asked him why we didn't get the Mira what we were told we were getting, not that it makes any difference as he assured me Bristan is a very good make and told us our taps are Bristan....So I am now looking this brand up, I told him if I don't agree with him I shall be having words.....we both laughed but I am sure he thinks I don't mean it, wink wink.....Shower does look good, straightforward to use, a larger shower head, just what I wanted....

JoanFL

Vanilla-Jackie--Your shower sounds very nice.

CallieOK

Good Morning,

Jackie Vanilla,   I would enjoy your new shower today because the weather in central Oklahoma is hot and "sticky-muggy".  Prediction is for "severe" weather all week.  Far western Oklahoma had tornadoes last night; one stayed on the ground for 20 minutes without moving more than a couple of miles.  Good thing it was over an open rural area instead of the nearby town.  That would have been as destroyed as it was in 1947 in what is still referred to as "The Woodward tornado".

Larry, next time you plant flowers in pots,  try putting a coffee filter in the bottom of the pot (or as many as you need to cover the area).  Works the same as it does in the coffeemaker - keeps the soil ("grounds") in and lets the water ("coffee) drain out - and is sooooo much lighter if the pot has to be moved.

I've been to the hairdresser and the local dairy store/small market, so am in for the duration.  Maybe I'll make pudding and thaw out some ground beef for something to be decided on later.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere a lovely day.

JeanneP

Jackie. Just don't get carried away and stay under shower to long.  I havn't used a tub for years. Love to be under a shower.  I was told by my Gino Dr. when still young. Never use any kind of Bath Salts or Powders when using a Tub.  Most his money is made from Women with Urine infection caused by these.  Did they also install one of the seats to go into your shower. Should have one in.
JeanneP

June Drabek

I am later this morning. Don't know why...time just seems to pass too quickly. Or is it possible I am slowing down? :-\ My morning is free so it doesn't matter.

At one thirty I will attend our creative writing class. Two forty five is Balance and mobility, and at six thirty tonight is the Westminster Choral. So I will have to stay awake for awhile.

The workmen here are redoing the second floor lounge. Our building is U shaped, so I can look out my window to the right and see them working..also hear them since we both have our windows open. We need more space for our balance and mobility class..more folks are involved now,so I think that is the reason for this job.

We are going to be mostly cloudy today, with a high of 68. I always welcome the clouds in case they have some rain in them.

Have a great day my friends, and I plan to do the same. June
As long as we are here, let's dance.

JoanFL

Callie--Never thought of using coffee filters in the bottom of flower post.  Thanks for the tip.  OK sure does get a lot of nasty weather.

Hi JeanneP.

June--You have a busy agenda today.  Enjoy all the activities.

Jeanne P, no seat nor do I have any hand rail, but the handrail I can soon order over the Internet, one that has suction to the tiles should do the job, but I will have to check on the maximum weight it will hold.....The shower cubicle is to me quite large, an oblong shape, so a handrail will be a necessity as I cant imagine myself stuck in the centre I would become very disorientated......saying that I desperately do need a shower, and cant wait that long till handrail is here so I will just have to go with the flow for now....I also plan on washing my hair whilst I am under the shower....Have to admit if it wasnt for my bad health a relaxing bath every time would be my number one choice, relaxing with Elemis ( aching muscle super soak...)...

Edited, just ordered my suction handrail from a Parkinson's disease website, ( I was VAT exempt, had to fill in their online form, ) I have ordered and paid the extra for a next day delivery but its over today's deadline so will come Thursday....It is not a cheap one, looks solid and strong, its a longer length than some I have seen....says, the indicator will turn green when the grab bar is securely fixed, If the indicator is red, you will need to reposition and try again until the indicator's green......Link...

MaryTX

Jackie, when Claude first became ill and his balance became iffy, I bought a movable plastic shower bench I think it was from Amazon.  We also had our handyman install a handrail which was screwed into the wall studs.  He screwed right through the ceramic tile and didn't crack it.  The suction cup type can become loose and I would rather be safe than sorry if it did.

I use it now and I feel a lot safer in the shower.

Hello Everyfriend!  Today was a pretty good day at work.  Lots of nice people came through my line and I had a personal update as to what they are doing with "time off" etc.  Seems I am part of the bonus that "everyone" is getting.  However, my large part (based on the number of hours I worked in 2015) will be a whopping $2.74!  Wow!  what do you think I should do with it?  Maybe I'll retire and live on it the rest of my life?  Maybe I'll take a cruise?  Maybe I'll get a new car?  Or maybe....ALL OF THE ABOVE!

I wish you all the same kind of good fortune!  I love it!

Mary, just this minute placed my order from a Parkinsons disease website....have to admit that was something I was concerned about, it giving away.....just hope I've made the right choice in the one I chose.....

I will look on Amazon at the seat - bench you mention, that again is something I should think about, thank you for the tip...

Jane S, best to spend it as you wont get rich living off the interest....

angelface555

Jane, now don't spend it all in one place!  ;)

The bathrooms here have one long bolted bar along the back width of the tub/shower combo and one on each side of the open tub side. I have used them in the past if I start to lose my balance or something. I would definitely go for the bolted in ones for stability and security. There is even a shorter bar on the wall behind the toilet.

halkel

Hmmmm, Janie, are you buying?  It would be interesting to see how they came to that figure.

Mary Ann

Jackie, I have a fiberglass tub that has a bolted grab bar on the wall side.  I also have a suction bar on the tub, but outside the shower curtain.  I only use that when getting out of the tub (after taking shower) but I push on it and do not pull.  Every few months, the bar loosens and falls to the floor so you will have to be careful when using it to be sure the bar is firm.  I'm with the others suggesting you have one bolted to the tub.

I also think it would be a good idea to have a stool to sit on, safer than standing up.

Mary Ann

JeanneP

I have not had luck with any type of Suction things in the Bathroom. Have just tried them on soap dishes. and did have a grab bar on one side when I use the bathtub to sort of pull self up. Seems that the tile does not hold them when wall gets wet. They just slide down.
But Jackie. Just test it for strength and if you dont feel safe have them attach with screws. Its not a hard thing to do. I know that when hotels, motels are built no the Law is that they have to be bolted to the walls. To many accident claims they say.
JeanneP

JoanFL

Vanilla-Jackie--I think you'd be happy with the rails like I have and the bench.  I got the bench from Amazon.

Janie--Just don't spend it all in one place.:)

MaryTX--I have those stainless steel rails that are screwed into the wall in my walk-in shower and my shower that's with the tub.  Like you, I feel safe with them.

angelface--It sounds like what you have is similar to mine.

halkel--Our Janie is so generous--bet she IS buying.:)

Mary Ann--Seems we all have similar ideas for shower/tub safety.

JeanneP--I feel safer with the bars bolted to the walls.

Larry:  Thank you so much for the instructions - it hasn't worked yet.  Neither have the fix-its that Microsoft has in their information. We will keep looking for a mend to this happening.

Callie:  We sit close enough to the hills that we can see the black clouds pass over to the eastern part of the state and beyond to you.  We always worry for everyone on the plains.  It looks like a few more days of this sky.

Quilters are coming tonight - I have lemon cookies, ice cream or sherbet and they all like ice tea.

JaneS

About the only thing I can think of that I'd be able buy enough of to go around and jalapeno peppers.  They're about the cheapest thing that I've ever seen come through my line.  Anyone for jalapenos?

Gloria

Well the tooth is out and I have my new partial. Just cannot wear it till the space is healed. There is a commercial on TV here for one of those fast dental places and everyone says 'I love my dentist”. Well I think I could say that about mine. Never had one so gentle.

JACKIE  the tooth was loose and the one the partial will be next to. Better out now than having to go through this later.

HAL  cloudy here all day and showers at times. I knew  it was like this as soon as I woke, my back told me.

JACKIE  now you can enjoy a shower again and feel nice and clean.

CALLIE  we are to be having a taste of summer starting tomorrow. Sure glad I have my AC in. I have used those coffee filters in the bottom of my flower pots for years.  Lot of good uses for those filters, washing windows for one.

JEANNE P  I bought one of those shower seats years ago and so glad I did. Cannot stand on my own long enough to shower.

JUNE  when I got home today I turned the AC on the dehumidify setting and laid on the couch.

MARYTX  I would not be able to shower with out the shower seat I have.  No bathtubs where I live so  a seat is a must.

JANE  wow with that BIG bonus you better think carefully just how you will invest/spend it.

PATRICIA  the shower here has grab bars on 3 sides and 2 near the toilet. All bolted, much safer.

CAROL  would love to join your quilters, would love the lemon cookies.

JANE a jalapeno would be different.  Have not had one is years.

Have a good night everyone.

I have a shower chair with arms and I am so glad that I do...I am not too steady and with the grab bars I just hate coming out..I was having difficulty handling the towel moored close by, when it was suggested I get a sarong type thingie with velcro to adhere to itself with absorbent toweling that makes it so much easier to dry off..My explanation may not be that clear, but you sharp people I know can figure it out

mycheal

Greetings Everyfriend, had to post a note to assure you's I am still reading and with a big   :)

It seems everyone is doing fairly well and that is what I so enjoy hearing.

I have been busy, do hope the construction here gets done soon....this has carried on a bit longer than  it should.. (contractor a no show some days ) EEEK :O)

And oh gosh the Graduations, will they ever end ?

I attended two on Sunday with more this Saturday EEEK :O) again ~ such madness

So best wishes to all , have a great night and even brighter day tomorrow.

Mycheal

June Drabek

I don't think I could fall in my shower if I wanted to. It is square in shape and small in circumference. I has a shower chair that has long legs in the front, short legs in the back which sit on a corner shelf. A long metal grab bar on the back wall, another grab bar the shower metal rope type is attached to another grab bar, and another long grab bar for getting in and out of the shower. There is also a non slip type of flooring.

Gloria, we have no bathtubs here either, but that doesn't bother me as I could no longer get my self up and out of one, I'm sure. I shudder just thinking about having a tooth extracted. I went through a very bad time last time I had one removed. Now I think I would just let it fall out. I choose for a root canal if that is an option.

Mycheal, it's about time you reported in. I have been concerned about you. Now it is Kelly's turn to show up. You both disappeared about the same time.

I had a huge lunch downstairs, so just ate some left-overs for supper. I'll be going down to listen to the Westminster Chorale now. Hope to get back to say goodnight.......

As long as we are here, let's dance.

Mary Ann

JeanneP, by any chance do you have ceramic tiles with grout between them in your bathroom.  I have a fiberglass tub, all one piece, so the suction works and I'm very cautious when using it.  When I went to Indy a year ago, my cousin had bought a suction type bar but the directions said to not put it over grout because it would not work.

After reading about grab bars, I have to add my thoughts on them. I had two grab bars like the ones in the link Vanilla posted. They worked great for awhile, then one day just slid off. They are now in the bathroom closet! We have a fiberglass shower. The bolted ones are much safer.

Callie - We lived in Woodward. OK for a few years. The local museum has so many photos of the 1947 tornado and of all the destruction. At least 200 people died and it was a small town. Also many stories from newspapers and letters about that night. It hit after dark. I can't imagine what they went through. Then another tornado went through there a few years ago. I watched the TV intently as it hit in the small residential area where we lived.

Thanks for the coffee filter idea for plants. I hadn't heard that before.

I went to the movies tonight with a group of lady friends and neighbors. We saw Mother's Day. I really enjoyed it. After the movie all 14 of us walked down to Haagen-Dazs for ice cream.

Good night all.

halkel

I have a couple of those suction cup hand holds.  But they are don't stick too well.
But I have a shower chair which I use when showering.   The old days of balancing on one leg while washing the other are long gone.

Up early in the morning.  Appointment at 8 AM.  Sooooooo.

Nite, nite, God Bless and Sweet Dreams.
