Good afternoon, another hot one, but to morrow is suppose to have heavy rain.   Some towns have cancelled there parades. I feel bad as the big ceramonies at Calvertan Nal. Cemetery  near by will have to be cancelled.

Gloria, my neighbor across the street works at Calverten Nal., now that I cannot go he puts the flowers on cyriel's grave. I would still go there, if I could walk to his grave, but it is in the last row. Easy to find, as it is near a bench, also they left a group of trees. that seperate differnt sections.

Thanks Phyllis for the lovely blue toned graphic.  beautiful

Molly, my son was a Major in the AF and was station in Korea for over a year.  He was Veitnam and Gulf war Vet also    We are all praying for Mohmand

I started this post a little after noon hour, it is now 8:15   I had company come in.

Shirley my husband would not eat rasin bread, because it look like the bread he got in the Pacific, with bugs in it.  When he went back , he was station on Samar

I started feeling funny during Church, so as soon as it was over I came home, lay down and fell asleep for several hours. Still feel droopy so will stay at home. I'm glad I keep groceries on hand. Not that I am hungry but we do have to eat..hungry or not.

JeanneP, I don't know what is happening in our country or who is responsible for damaging the crosses at the Veterans cemeteries, but I hope those traitors can be located and pay a dire penalty for their actions. Where would we be if it were not for the men who have died for  us ? It is like a nightmare what is happening here.

Sorry I have nothing interesting to contribute. Just too tired today.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Goodnight dear hearts. Sleep peacefully. See you all tomorrow. Love hugs, and prayers.

We had a big story in UK 2009, wow was it that long ago, only seems like around three years ago, just looked the story up......." Binge-drinking student who urinated on war memorial is spared jail...."  you can imagine, everybody was outraged, he urinated over poppies... >:(....Link to story and photo....

Good Monday morning, Everyfriend, on this Memorial Day.  Let us all pause to remember those who have served, those who are now serving and those who gave their lives for our country.  There's blueberry or cranberry muffins to accompany your coffee or tea . I wish everyone a nice day!!

Thanks to Phyllis for her lovely “Memorial Day” graphic creation which we are using today.

At the Parade

Little Jake asked his mom amid the Memorial Day Parade: “Mamma, don’t warriors ever go to paradise?” “obviously they do!” dissented his mom. “What makes you ask?” “There are such a large number of officers with facial hair however I never saw any photos of holy messengers with whiskers.” he answered The mother reacted “Goodness, that is on account of most vets who go to Heaven arrive by a narrow escape.”

Lloyd

Nap time too short of night.

Amy

Good morning everyone.

Today I am off to my quilting group, we only have one more meeting after today then our pot luck lunch and that is it for the summer. Need to stop and pick up dog food on my way home too!

Phyliss, beautiful graphic.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I slept well last night...didn't wake up at all and I feel so much better this morning!  I'm supposed to go to a picnic at my daughter's this afternoon but the weather report calls for rain.  I'm thinking the picnic might be indoors.

I, too, think that your thought for the day is very pertinent!  Our forefathers were very forward thinking people.

On this Memorial Day, I remember with love and thanks, my father who fought in WWI and my neighbor boys who both died in WWII.  My cousin who fought in VietNam and one who fought in WWII.  My aunt who served as and Army Nurse in WWII and whose fiancé, a Marine, died on Saipan.  I pray for the souls of all the men and women who fought and died for my freedom.  And I don't take their sacrifice lightly.  I honor them all, today!

Good morning, Lloyd.  Hopefully by now you are catching up on your sleep.

Amy--Good morning.  What do you do all summer when there is no quilting group?

Good morning, Janie.  GREAT you slept all night.  The medicine did its job.  It'd be nice if it didn't rain so you could picnic outside.  When we lived in CNY Memorial Day was always the day we opened our pool and had all the neighbors come for a picnic.  Good memories.

Shirley

Good morning to all on this Memorial Day 2016.  I can't change the world but only MY little corner and my first change would be to take everyone back to the times when we knew our enemies and it wasn't each other.  Our enemy was abuse at all levels, dishonesty, dictatorship..... unkindness.... and basically, not honoring the 10 Commandments.  My love & prayers for Every Friend and best wishes that when life gets rough we each have happy memories to help us through.  Time to go put out my flag.  Shirley

JoanFL

Lloyd--Maybe later you can get a nap.

Good morning, Shirley.  I have many happy memories.

Hi everyone on this Memorial Day.  It is going to be a nice one here with zero chance of rain throughout the day and getting into the mid-80's.  We have specific plans for today.  I will attend my normal Monday noon meeting.  I am going to have to come up with a couple of new projects here in my office as like to stay busy in the mornings as will complete my review of the photo albums I have created on Google Photos this morning as only have a few more to review.  It has been fun and sometimes sad going back over the pictures but wanted to weed out those pictures that were of very poor quality or were not of interest.

Hope all have a nice day as we pause to remember those who have sacrificed so much to assure our freedom in the past and today and in the future as there appears to be no end in sight of wars and conflicts around the world.

Jenny, it sounds like you had a little extra protein in your cod.  (Sorry just couldn't resist.)  It is very difficult to try to guide someone through a computer problem via the telephone.  It takes a lot of patience and thoughtful phrasing of instructions.  I have done a bit of this over the years and know how difficult it can be when you don't see exactly what the other person sees.

Joan, I tried to post several times yesterday morning but the sight was down and then I was gone the rest of the morning attending Church.

Amy, yesterday I moved my tomato plants close to the house to shield them from some fairly strong winds.  However, they did benefit from the rain as are located outside the covering on the patio while still being on the concrete.  They were still a bit difficult to move.  Hope your garden survived the downpour.

Shirley, brothers can be a bit onery and I bet he had a great time getting you to put that "roly-poly" in your mouth.  I don't even know if you can buy a BB gun or BB's anymore.  I did have a BB gun when I was growing up and didn't load the BB's from my mouth.

JeanneP, I did read and hear about the vandalism of the Vet Cemeteries and was appalled.

Phyllis, thanks for that most appropriate graphic and Joan thanks for sharing it with us on this special day of remembrance.

Good Morning Everyone!

Our Memorial day is starting out wet.  Rain early this morning with a little bit of thunder and it is still drippy and cloudy, but rain has stopped.  And suppose to keep it up all week.

Nothing special planned here for today and the kids haven't said anything about special plans.  I hope the rain doesn't mess up everything at Fort Sam National Cemetery ceremony.

Janie, happy to see you feeling back to par.
Lloyd hope you are feeling better.

Joanie, thanks for breakfast. Wish I could send you some of our rain, I don't mind sharing.

Gloria

Good morning everyone, it is raining. Not nice for Memorial Day. At least it is cooler.

JANE  you and me both with the heat.

JOAN  people are pretty low to steal from a grave site.

JENNY  I have seen cod just caught that had worms. I do not eat much fish I can truthfully say.

SHIRLEY  I am terrible, what ever I buy I check over very good before eating it. One reason I really do not like going to restaurants.

PHYLLIS  perfect graphic for this day.

JOAN  wonderful graphic for this day. A blueberry muffin would be great. Food for Thought gave me goosebumps.  Thought of the day, sure is not one language these days. Thank you for today's goodies.

Good Morning, Everyfriend,

There were a few water droplets on the newspaper sack/envelope/"whatever-that-thing-is-it-comes-in" this morning.  I guess the clouds to the east had brought some rain as they passed over - but I knew nothing about it.   :sleepy:

Very very quiet around here this weekend.  Several neighbors are gone and my family are all doing things I chose not to join in.   I miss the Bridge foursome that used to play on these 3rd Monday holidays.

Larry,  I liked your comment about projects.  I, too, have several projects I want to do.  Right now, I'm working on a data base of books I've read over the past several years.  I had saved library receipts and made some lists but needed to look up authors.  I've figured out how to use a split screen so I can see the data base and the library search page at the same time.  So far,  I'm at #283.
I also want to make an album for #2 son's 50th birthday in August.  That will mean sorting out quite a few pictures and writing some stories.
And - I'm still working on labeling slides that my son had put on cds a couple of years ago.  Also use a split screen for that - but have no idea how far I've gotten with the more than 800 I have to work on.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere a lovely day.

JoanFL

Good morning, Larry.  I have nothing planned for today.  They are having a cookout at the clubhouse--outside by the pool.  I can't stand the heat and humidity so won't be able to go.

Gloria--Good morning.  Does your complex have anything special on Memorial Day?  My sister-in-law  in Syracuse went and decorated Ray and Rich's graves.

Good morning, Callie.  You have enough projects lined up to keep you busy for a LONG time.:)

🙏 HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY 🙏

It is another beautiful day here in the a Mile High City.

We plan to get together with family today.  Looking forward to it as we have not seen them since we returned from our trip.

Thank you, JOAN, for our goodies today.  I always feel badly that you are not able to join in with the neighbors at the functions they have. 😪

Thank you, PHYLLIS, for the touching Memorial Day graphic.

GLORIA, in reading about cod it appears it is common for it to have some extra protein in it.  Your comment sure justifies that!  YUK!  I bet if we only knew what we regularly eat we would be very turned off!

LARRY, you always seem to have plenty of projects to keep you busy, and that is great.  Yes, it is very difficult to help others with electronics, and trying to say the least.  A little extra protein never hurts, 'eh? BTW, Bob and I went to Steak and Shake the other day and it was pretty good.  I always think of you and Pat when we go there, although you have not mentioned it lately...maybe you do not have one close to you now?

CALLIE, it appears you will have quite a project on your hands with the birthday book for your son.

SHIRLEY, I enjoyed your comment today and totally agree with you.

JACKIE, thank you for sharing the link.  I just do not understand why people are not made to stand responsible for their errors.  Of course any times it is just bad judgement, but own up if you are guilty. Our country is all up in arms over the shooting of the gorilla at the Cincinatti Zoo. A 4 year old child, clearly not being watched by his parent, falls into the moat where the gorilla is.....they shoot the gorilla, an endangered species, to rescue the child.  There is a lot of speculation as to if the gorilla was going to hurt the child or not?

I wish you all a wonderful day.

Jenny, they didn't need to kill it, whatever happened to using the tranquillizer dart......

Went walkabouts earlier, our weather has been dry, a very pleasantly hot with a little breeze, my kind of weather....Stopped to have a chat to Ivan, he too has MS, then walked a little further and we stopped to speak to, hm, forgot his name but I can remember wife's - partners name, Kim, she is from Houston Texas, and at present gone back home, both men were out doing some front of home gardening....I have also done some sitting in the garden.....Tomorrow we take our Benji 8.am to the vets, he will be in all day, told we collect around 4.pm....tomorrow will be a mighty long day for both Benji and me...nothing major, just teeth cleaning and sort his gum infection, he might even lose a tooth....but he is 13 years old now, and going under anaesthetic....always a risk in older senior dogs....

Mary Ann

Jackie, an article about the gorilla killing said a tranquilizer doesn't work immediately so there is no telling what would/could have happened to the child until it did take over.

Jenny--It's nice that you can get together with your family today.  I accept that I cannot go to outside activities when it's hot and humid--it's part of the COPD.

Vanilla-Jackie--I heard on TV the same thing about the gorilla and the tranquilizer.  How nice you got out for a walk.  Good thoughts for Benji's procedures tomorrow.

Mary Ann--As you can see above, I heard the same about the gorilla.

Sandy

Good Morning from the cloudy and
cool rocky coast of Maine.

Happy Memorial Day, Everyone!

Years and years ago,  when my kids were
preschool age and teenagers,   I had a small
garden..      I grew some broccoli,   until
I took the head of broccoli into the house,  and
put it in warm water,   and tons of
worms came out of it.  (oh yuk!)
:baaa:

Bye bye broccoli growing!

Sad news about that gorilla that had
to be destroyed...   But circumstances
seemed to have made it necessary...

I wasn't there,  and I don't know for sure...
That was a very sad moment in time
for all concerned.     If that had been a human
being instead of a Gorilla,   and it appeared
that the childs life was in danger,  deadly
force would have been used.
Sometimes we just don't have a
safe choice.

I hope everyone has a good day,
even if you are home bound.    I
have no special plans for today,  either.

Sandy

Goodmorning every on on this cooler Memorial Day. although the humidity is 99. Rained durning the night, but has not rained since I got up and it is now afternoon.  So many parades were cancelled. Right now it even seems the sky has gotten brighter.

Joan, I also will have a blueberry muffin. Thanks

Still missing Sun and Kelly.

Shirley I agree with Jenny, I go along with your comments. Out on Montauk Pt. on the very end of Long Island, the paper said this morning they had over 300complaints  this weekend.  Public drinking and urination on peoples lawns. Also littering and destroying the beach. People use to come out to enjoy the state park, to go out on party boat fishing and of couse see the ocean and the Montauk Light House, that George Wasington  commissioned. Its is only a small fishing village. Big motels and bars seem to be taking over.
When I was a little kid and lived in Patchogue, it was the thing to do once a year.Pack the car for the day trip to the end of LI
I am glad I still have my wonderful memories of days gone by.
Gloria I am sure you have the same memories of RI. I know everyone else  remembers there home town.
June, I hope you are feeling better to day.

I guess we are not going to get spell check back, so you will have to put up with my spelling.  I spell like I hear, and I am deaf.
