Good evening......

So good to see your post here, JOAN, and to know that you came through the worse of the storm safely.  So impressed that you did not loose your electricity.  I can well imagine you are tired of being confined, but I sure was happy that Joe was there with you.  Will he be able to stay in case the storm swings back around and heads your direction again?

Have been thinking about you BEVERLY, as well and hoping you did not occur any damage either.  It looked like your area did well too.  Hope so.

Mark and Megan got all packed up today and will leave tomorrow for their new life in Arizona. Megan's parents will be going along to help them.  Dad will be driving the uHaual truck with the house hold goods, Mark drives his truck pulling his trailer and Megan and Mom will be driving her car. It sure is nice to not be the parents that are helping them move!  Just thankful her parents are doing this task.  They are excited to start their new life together.  Best part of this, I have someone else to stay with in AZ when I need to get out of the cold!  ðŸ˜,

AMY, I do hope all went well for your hubby today and he is well on his way to a full recovery.

Dr. Dave and Family head to Chicago tomorrow to visit the brother's family there.  Happy the cousins will all be together but sad that I will not be there to see them together.

I wish you all a good night and pleasant dreams to all.

Food For Thought

Scripture Reading: Ephesians 2:14-22

In him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.
Ephesians 2:22
I have a wooden cross hanging on my office wall. As with anything our friend Andy made, it is simpleâ€"just two-by-fours into which he carved swirls with a chisel. On the day we moved away to work in another church, all the people from our little church signed their names on this cross. So there also, in black marker, is “Ron.”
I cannot help wondering if your name is on a cross somewhere. I mean, have you signed up? Have you applied your life to the eternal project of Christ? Scripture says that Christ died for you and gives his Spirit to you. Sanctification is Christ taking you in his hands and forming you, etching himself into you. There is no better way to live. God offers his heavenward power to you too.
You can sign up. All it takes is a prayer, accepting God’s gift of forgiveness and peace with simple, childlike trust and belief. Thenâ€"even if you’re scared or reluctantâ€"find a trust¬worthy church. Be baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then rise up, in the love of God, and live. Do for other people what these members of our small church did for each other: what Ron did for Dwayne, or what Dick did for Andy. Or what that whole little church did for me.
My prayer is that you become a follower of Jesus Christ (if you are not one already), because this is the stuff of eternal life.
Father, I come to you in faith. Take me into the flow of eternal life, by your Spirit. Forgiveness, peace, purpose, and loveâ€"I am asking for it all. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Good morning everyone, hope those still in the path of Matthew are doing OK. I wonder about Larry and Phyllis and Molly.

JOAN  glad to see your post. How are you doing? Can you get those hurricane shutters down yet? I sure hope so. I hope you have a much better day. I know I dislike not being able to see outside. Pancakes will be great, I woke hungry this morning and that is unusual for me. Thank you for all today's goodies. I don't know how you even bothered with your post of them this morning after yesterday. You are an amazing lady.

Raining, raining, raining here but we're not getting the wind that they first said we would,...yet.  The morning weather report is saying that Matthew is losing strength.  That's good news for everyone on the southeast coast.  There will be lots of flooding because this is a lot of rain on top of lots of rain from last week.  The ground is saturated...just can't take anymore so it is running off into creeks and rivers and they are flooding.  As long as the wind doesn't come up I'll not worry too much.  I really don't want a 90-100 foot tree down on my house!

Joan, I'm relieved that you have come through pretty well.  I know you were anxious and I'm so glad Joe is with you.  Facing these "things" is hard enough but they seem overwhelming when we have to face them alone.

Now, as Annie sang......"the sun'l come out tomorrow, bet your bottom dollar....."  We can only hope.  Mother Nature does things her way!

Good morning, Lloyd.  I am sorry you are not feeling well this morning.

Vanilla-Jackie--Good morning.  Yes, I am seeing daylight.  Glad you liked the thought for the day.

Good morning, Gloria.  I've been wondering how all our participants, in Matthew's path, are doing.  Joe got the tedious job of taking the shutters down and stored late yesterday.  He just left on the long drive back home to Alabama.

Phyllis--Good morning.  You came in while I was typing.  I pray you get no damage from the wind and rain.  You're right about things being so much less stressful when you aren't alone.  I appreciate Joe's coming, beyond words.

Now we are under a tornado watch for our area along with flooding.  I'm not particularly loving this.  :(

Hi everyone on a very rainy morning here in South Carolina.  My rain gauge shows we had almost 2 inches of rain since late yesterday afternoon but it appears the impact of the Hurricane is moving away from our area although a lot of the State is still being battered with heavy rains and winds that will go on for quite awhile today.  There was no wind damage in this area as far as I have heard.  The forecast shows a zero chance of rain tomorrow.

Mary Ann, it sounds like you are well into fall up your way.

Yesterday didn't turn out as I had thought it might.  It was a very good day as Pat finally showed some significant signs of improvement.  She was able to get her hair cut and then about 2:30 we went out for a nice lunch/dinner at Texas Roadhouse.  She was so glad to get out of the house for awhile.  This morning she didn't feel the need to use the walker when she got up for the first time.  She still has a long ways to go but it is encouraging to her and to me.  I didn't have to cook anything yesterday although did fix my frozen fruit.  I plan on staying in today and will get the pedicure and haircut on Monday.

Joan, it sounds like you are OK.  From your postings it sounds like your area didn't lose power.  That has to be very relieving to you as your oxygen wasn't shut off to you.  Glad Joe was able to start home as sounds very encouraging.

Callie, I have never heard of the foot condition you have.  Glad you have been able to adapt to the condition.  You handled the little boys comment very well.

Jenny, glad you did not need to help in Mark and Megan's move to Arizona.  I know you all have done plenty of that in the past.

Lloyd, please take things easy today.  Those higher readings are not good as I am sure you know.

Phyllis, I will be keeping your and those in your area in mind today as the storm strikes North Carolina and the added concern for tornados.

halkel

Good Morning Everyone!

Joan, hopefully you didn't sustain any damage to your home.  And hopefully none of our other friends in the path of Matthew comes through okay.

Wonder how Amy's hubby came through his operation.  I hope it was successful and fixed what was wrong.

Lloyd, hope you get to feeling better today.

Morning Gloria, Patricia (hope you eye exam goes well).  And Jenny and Jackie, hope you day goes well.

JoanFL

Good morning, Larry.  I am VERY fortunate that I didn't lose power.  Over 200,000 in my county are still without power.  My oxygen doesn't use electricity.  I use liquid oxygen--not a concentrator. I am so glad to read that Pat is feeling better and could get out to eat.

halkel--Good morning.  No damage here.  Just a bunch of palm fronds and leaves all over.    Hopefully we'll hear from Amy about her husband.

Sandy

Good Morning Everyone from the cool
and dry rocky coast of Maine.

JoanFL,  so glad to hear that your oxygen
does not depend on electricity,
that your electricity is still working,
and that  you did not receive any serious
damage.

I see that " much milder Matthew" is going to swing
around and "take another bite at the
apple" in the South East.

"Round and around and around we go".

I give Larry a lot of credit for stepping in
and taking over for his wife's job as
"chief cook and bottle washer"  etc etc etc
while she is recuperating...

It is never easy to change roles that have
been established in life and Larry,  once again
you have shown that it can be done.

You have a wonderful attitude and Pat
is fortunate to have you as a partner.

Good JOB, LARRY!

Have a good day,  Everyone !

Where is Jane S? she hasn't posted in 3 or 4 days, did she say she was going anywhere, or wouldn't be in?

JoanFL

Thanks, Sandy.  It sure was a blessing to me that Joe came.  Hopefully I won't have any more experience with Matthew.

Vanilla-Jackie--I believe Janie said she wouldn't be back until she got her computer back.  She said her iPad was too hard on her eyes.

A dreary, chilly, damp day here.  A little difficult inhaling the oxygen today, but I think that's because of the dampness in the air.  At least I hope that's what it is.   :)  Glad to know, Joan that you seem to have made it through without any problems.  I know personally what a blessing those grown and caring sons can be.

Good Morning on a sunny Fall-like Saturday in central Oklahoma.

Joan,  so happy to see that you can once more see outside and that you aren't seeing any damage.  Good wishes for Joe to have a safe trip back to Alabama.

I need to water the pansies in the pot garden and might as well sprinkle the perennials while I'm at it.
I want to keep up with football games for both my college and the one my children/grandchildren attended/attend - so off I go outside before I settle down in front of the tv.

Hal,   BOOMER SOONER!!!!!   :cheer:

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere a Good Day.

Gloria

PHYLLIS  glad you are doing OK. You have had too much rain and getting more, some places have not seen enough rain in many years. Weird world we live in. My older son has some large trees too close to his house, second son only has one that could reach the back of his house. This place has some tall pines in the back. None at this section though. No big trees near my daughter either.

JOAN  I am so glad that Joe got to you before the storm hit. I wish him a safe trip home.  I really worried about you. 10 years ago we had hurricane Irene that hit in Mass. Pretty bad, that is the one that went inland and hit either Vermont or NH. The day after that storm I called my Sis in law and her son answered the phone. He was working and got a call from her life line. A friend rushed him home and he found she had died.  Did not know if it was her time or if because on no power her oxygen stopped.  Now you know why I was worried. I was closer to her than any of my own sisters. You raised a loving and caring son.

PHYLLIS  no tornado please, God.

LARRY  good to see you here.  Is Molly the only one left in the area Matthew is reaching we have not heard from?

HAL  how would you like some of that rain Mathew has too much of?  Without the winds of course.

JACKIE  Jane did say she was tired a few days ago. I do hope she is OK.

Was hoping to see a post from Amy but could be she is taking care of her DH or  at the hospital if that is where he is. The day here stared sunny and warm. I just closed the window near where I am sitting. It is now cloudy and the air feels raw and damp.

JoanFL

Vanilla-Jackie--You're right about computers.

Jeanne Lee--Are you using a continuous flow oxygen?  If so it should just flow automatically, unless there's an obstruction someplace.  Yes, caring children are a blessing.

Callie--Thanks.  Joe called about five minutes ago and had just arrived home.  He made it in 8 hours--must have had a heavy foot.

Gloria--Many things could stop working with loss of power but my oxygen is not one of them, since the system I use doesn't require oxygen.

Click for Melbourne, Florida Forecast

Jeanne Lee

Joan, my problem with inhaling is that my nose and nasal passages sometimes get clogged up.  It's not the flow of oxygen - that's fine, it's just making my nose breath it in.   :D  so the solution is to limit activities until things loosen up so I don't need as much oxygen.  I sure don't mind an excuse to do less   ;D

Well, it's one of those days. I posted this morning, but did not use notepad. I remember clicking on post, and when I came back later...no message of mine was posted. So I goofed somewhere along the line. Sorry about that kids, but I will not try to repeat. I don't know why, but my mind is not operating at full power today. I do plan to go down for one program today, Brain and Body fittness. It sounds just like something I need.

I am SO thankful all is well in Melborne. That was a scary thing for a while, but know our Bis was not alone sure helped tremendously. I pray there is nothing dire happening in the Carolinas.

And I pray Lloyd is resting and healing. It sounded like he was in trouble today.

I too am wondering about our Amy's husband. A three hour surgery can take a lot of both of them.

Jeanne Lee, I use a saline spray for my nose and it helps, is your doctor aware of this problem ? If not, I would sure notify him. You need that oxygen.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Okay, here I am to pay a debt to a lady I know in Oklahoma who is more than likely now running around whooping and hollering and carrying on something terrible and laughing her head off thinking of the dumb last play Texas run.....

Thank you, Hal.  That was a "squeaker"

I'd probably be celebrating like you said  if I weren't working so hard to get All My Children's OSU Cowboys to catch up to Iowa State.

Jeanne Lee--Thanks for the explanation.  Now I understand.

June--I pray all in this monster storm's path stay safe.

Callie--You collect from halkel and now you have to work to get a win for OSU.

Hello everyone and thank you so much for the prayers and kind thoughts. Dh came through the operation ok but due to his heart they kept him in ICU  just to keep a close eye on him.

Went down for some games this afternoon, and it was fun. Now home and I plan to make a couple of microwave fried eggs for my supper, along with some fruit and stuff. Then if I can muster up enough energy I will go back down for another game of music bingo tonight. I'll see how it plays out. This body will let me know what it can do.....hour by hour.

We had a beautiful day today, sunny but not hot.

Amy, I am sure you are weary dear and I appreciate your coming in re the surgery. Hospital is the best place for your DH for a while, and you rest too !!!!!

Bis, I am sure you are breathing a sigh of relief about now. God heard our prayers.
