Talking of vets, our Queen, Charles and Camilla were in Poundbury this morning, Poundbury is where our vets are....a 20 to 35 minutes drive....If I had known, and we didn't have other more important commitments, I would have liked to have gone to see them...Link to clip....hope you can view it...

Good morning, Joy.  It's a dark day here, too, but no rain.  Glad to hear from someone who has used Schwan.  I think I will look into trying them.  I pay nearly all my bills online--write only a couple checks a month.

halkel--Good morning.  Sorry your wife is not feeling well.  Good thing your great grandson's father was able to remove the rock this time.  That place should remove all those tempting rocks.

Good morning, Larry.  Nice that you had an enjoyable birthday celebration with Scott.  I am glad you find some of the "stuff" I post useful.

Vanilla-Jackie--Too bad you couldn't go to Poundbury.  Thanks for the link.

June Drabek

Good Morning all, we are sort of Cloudy this morning, but I'm sure the sun will be out by noon.

Gloria, I too was asleep about nine p.m. but slept till six this morning. Yes, the Vampire always comes about six in the morning. I have had three blood tests taken while in my own bed, bright and early. They have found it works much better for them. It is an outside concern from a Lab, and they just travel on down the hallways, going where they are scheduled, then they send the result to our doctors. She had mine done, because my last one showed I was desperately low in blood sodium count, and that is when I was shipped off to the hospital for three days. They even did EKG's and chest Xray's in the same manner. That was when I first moved in. They want to be sure no one is bringing in anything contagious, so we remain in good condition.

Amy, you are such a loyal poster, it is not surprising you were so thoroughly missed. I felt it may be your husband and hoped it had not been a car accident. Our prayers will stay with you and your hubby for Good News.

Bis, Gosh it was surprising to read that is has been seven years since your awful trip to the hospital. God proves to us all the time how Great His Goodness is. It is a good thing it does not need words to tell God how thankful we are for his many Loving Acts..words can not express what is in our hearts. But God knows.

Joy, I never heard of Schwans out here on the West coast. How do you order from them? Mail, Computer, Phone ??????
I buy through the computer from a local major store out here. I am so glad you have this great way of shopping. I love it.

Hal, my prayers are with your son and his wife. Having an autistic child is a full time job,and you are so correct in insisting on the day care getting rid of the temptations to the little fellow.

Larry, yes I plan to go over at 10 this morning and start my visits, with God's guidance.  As just "me", I feel inadequate, but with God I will be open to what I am to do and say. Different strokes for different folks, as they say. Even if it is just holding a hand, saying a prayer, singing a song, reading, writing, whatever is needed.

Time to get on with the day, see you all later. June
As long as we are here, let's dance.

JoanFL

June--I thank God every day for healing me and keeping me "clean" from that nasty cancer for the last seven years.  I know you will do outstanding visiting the folks in the care facility.  I commend you for taking on that responsibility.

JaneS

Well, I don't know how Larry's "putzing" is going but I seem to have found some things that were missing and some space that has been covered.  I hesitate to admit it but part of the putzing included cleaning out the fridge and preparing some other items for the freezer.  And when I put the vacuum away, I turned it on and followed it, thereby finishing a job I started a couple days ago.  I seem to have finished several things this morning.  My grandmother would be so proud of me.  She used to tell me that if I finished everything I ever started, I'd get more done than anybody she knew.

Now I'm going to go get myself some lunch and doggies a snack, chase them out one more time in the rain and then snuggle under my favorite blanket and catch a few zzzzs.  Have fun, Everyfriend!

JoanFL

Janie--I think you did lots of "putting". Now I hope you find those ZZZ's.

Oh, Amy, my heart just dropped to my toes seeing your report.  I am so sorry but will keep good thought since it was found so early.  My prayers will be with you both.

My sons turned up yesterday, one in the morning & the other after work and fixed all my problems with the computers/ Fitbit & my Yahoo mail.  Fitbit tells me I got 7 hours sleep so that is very good for me.

I do plan a few days away to MO for a family reunion so no internet for me during that time.  If I get brave I will look for Friends with my cell phone.... but wouldn't stake my life on getting in.   :crazy2:

Everyone behave, I'm not leaving today but afraid in the struggle to get 3 cats into the RV, the rest of my week will be chaos.  It is nice to now be able to put food in the RV freezer & frig days ahead since I have it plugged in to electricity here and will drive with the propane running the frig when not connected.  When I get into a campground I don't like to have to move, the cats & I eat & sleep, watch TV & they run from window to window to watch critters playing in the woods.

For all of you that "used to go camping", I wish everyone of you could join me, it would be such fun.  For those of you that never liked the idea of camping, you'd be surprised just how relaxing it is ... and was even before all the extras we travel with now.  It is a smiling world.... until the next problems with the RV.

Jackie.  What a beautiful Statue they Erected. The queen and Philip looking good. How I like seeing such crowds turning out for things like that
Looks like a nice town. I like the way that they have gone back to building home like that again. Places people can still afford.  Uses up a lot less land. Wonder if they are Council houses or Private owned.  I need to live in something like that now. Getting hard to keep up my place. Hard to get help as my Handy man. Yard man all getting into their 80s.  Had them for over 40 years.  I would also now like to be living in a Smaller Town or village again.

...one has to admire our Queen, she is 90 now and still carrying out her duties....

Jeanne P you could always come back to UK, so many lovely villages over here....you have places like Cumbria's The lake District, The Cotswolds, Norfolk Broads, Yorkshire Dales, Peak District...and they are just for starters...

JoanFL

Shirley--Safe travel to the reunion.

Thank you all for your prayers, they mean a lot and above all they do work!!!

Hal, that was the other vehicle, this on is hubby's and thank goodness we had the snow tires put on yesterday as it was snowing like the dickens when we left the city!! Have to admit it sure is pretty!

Tomorrow, I take my vehicle in to get the snows put on and then we are all set for winter.

Jackie.  Yes, all those places you mention were my old stomping grounds. With short distances from me growing up.. But UK is about like me in the US now. Most friends and family are gone. It is just that I could travel so much more in UK. Better public transportation.  Would not try driving there anymore. Still can do it here.
My fathers side of family all Peak District. Beautiful area. I like the village that the remaining family live. Within short distance to the Lake District.  It has been 3 years now so maybe should get back in the Spring. Been very lucky in getting back so often. It is a expensive place to live now. Should have bought my Aunts cottage 3 years ago when she passed away. Spent half year in each place.
JeanneP

Amy

Joan, our ground is now covered in snow and it is still coming down!! I am glad I am getting my snow tires on tomorrow!

Amy, I had colon cancer in 2000. My two sisters also had it in the early part of this decade and my father in the early nineties. We all survived with no reoccurrence, so I hope it is the same with your husband! The right diet, positive attitude and trying to avoid stressing is key I believe.

June Drabek

Hi all, another day has slipped on by....they pass too quickly. I made two calls on Maria in the Care center. She is 85 years of age, and a darling. Like me, she loves where she lives and the people that care for her. It was a very rewarding visit. I went down before 10 o'clock and it was too busy at that time. They were still delivering meds, and getting patients dressed for the day, so I left early and came back at 10:30 and stayed till 11. Went to lunch, then on to Choir practice, home to rest and fell asleep and missed going to Balance and Mobility....Darn!!! I love that class, and the kids that lead it. They are so much fun.Well, what's done is done, no sense in rueing what can't be changed.

Amy, I can see it is important for you to have snow tires on your car. You certainly need to have safe transportation at this time. You are one strong, brave lady and I admire you more that words can say.

We had a beautiful day here in Stanton, some clouds some sun and nice tepid weather. I am glad to be back closer to the Pacific Ocean, and of course, closer to Gary and Dori. Tomorrow there will be a Harvest Hoe down....a first for me so it will be fun to attend. At Sunwest I had costumes for all the events, but alas, I left them behind when I moved here, so I will attend dressed "plain". I do wear Jeans almost daily, so that will be my Western "do".

Time to have some left-over supper, so off I go.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Joy

June,  if you go to "google" and type in "Schwans" their website will come up.  There is a place on their page where you can enter your zip code to see if they deliver in your area.  I do know that they are in the California area.   All their foods are frozen, so you would have to have some space in your freezer.  They have a big variety of all kinds of frozen foods and I have never had anything that I wasn't satisfied with. Some of their meat items are a little expensive, but the majority of their products are comparable to the prices in a nice grocery store.  I don't get a lot from them, as I don't have a big freezer.

Nice that you were able to spend some time with Maria, in the Care Center.  I know you will be a most welcome visitor to those shut-ins. You are such a sweet lady and makes everyone feel so good.  Sorry you missed your Balance and Mobility class.  Wish they had something like that where I live.

Have a good rest of the evening.

It is now 4.10am UK time, already gotten one cup of tea down me.....I awoke 3.45, got up for the loo, got back into bed, turned the table light out with the intentions of going back to sleep for another hour or two,..... then thought the kitchen light looks like its on, yes R was up and about letting our Benji out, back on went my table lamp as Benji came in to greet me, so I had to get up to keep him company..... so here I am, contemplating on my second cup of tea, then it will be back to trips to the loo time, Intermingled with sitting at the computer or playing 1 & a half hours of tv recorded Coronation Street....

Denver

Good morning, JACKIE.  I wish I could have a nice cup of tea with you right now.  This early morning risings are becoming the norm for you it seems.  Sure wish it wasn't as you need your rest.

We had dinner with our x neighbors tonight.  They are getting ready to head down to Arizona for the winter, so it was nice for us to get a good visit in.  They have not had the best year.....they have been misplaced after a fire in their condo last May and Bill was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer and has just finished his chemo and radiation.  They are being told they may not get back into their condo for 8 more months.

AMY, I am so sorry to read your news about DH. Please know that you both are in my prayers.

ANGELFACE, your family is blessed to all survive colon cancer.  Sure happy for you.  How is Farrah doing?

JUNE, nice to read the your new friend Maria enjoyed her time with you today.  Will you go see her again, or will you meet someone else?   What a rewarding visit I am sure you had.

SHIRLEY, safe travels for you and the kitties to and from your trip to MO.  Enjoy your visit there and I hope the fur balls cooperate and let you enjoy your time away.  It is just beautiful here in CO right now, and I sure wish you were headed west for any there visit.

I am having probl ms keeping my eyes open, so,will say GOODNIGHT to all.  Pleasant dreams.

Food For Thought

A Disciplined Harvest

By Joel Vande Werken
Scripture Reading: Hebrews 12:1-13

No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.
Hebrews 12:11
He sat in a wheelchair, his life suddenly changed in alarming ways. “Why do I have to go through this?” he asked, dis¬appointment hanging in the air.
Sometimes we think of such situations as punishment. We even look for connections between life’s disappointments and our sins. But struggles like this do not usually relate to punishment; they are just part of life in a broken world.
Dealing with them can involve discipline, however. And discipline, though it can be painful, will yield results.
It takes discipline to get up early and work all day to bring in a harvest. It takes discipline to work methodically down a row of trees to pick the good fruit and leave the bad behind when a deadline is looming.
Discipline combines instruction and warning. The word for “discipline” in Hebrews 12 suggests the kind of training needed to help a child grow. The words discipline and disciple share a common root. Sometimes discipleship as God’s children involves difficulty and correction too.
God’s goal is to make us like Christ, who suffered but also triumphed over sin and disappointment. Even in discipline, God loves his people and seeks to cultivate holiness in us for Jesus’ sake.
Father, help us to endure hardshipâ€"and discipline, when neededâ€"knowing that you love us. Thank you for Jesus’ example, and make us more like him. In his name, Amen.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  And a special good morning to you Joanie and to you also Lloyd.

The doggies have been out and have had their "cookie".  The are waiting for 7 a.m. to bug me for breakfast.

I liked the inspirational reading today.  I know that most of us have asked God at some time "Why me".  And it isn't punishment for our sins.  It just happens.  It's LIFE!

I'll be off to WM at 9 and then the rest of the day is mine.  I wonder how I'll spend those hours?  Maybe I'll collect the ingredients to make barbecue sauce.  I'm working on my last jar from last year right now.  That will involve a trip to the Amish Grocery store because their prices are the best.

I hope you all have a great day doing exactly what you love doing.

I woke with the hopes that the snow would be gone but that isn't so. I just shoveled off the garage apron with hope that the rest will melt on its own today. Warm breeze blowing and when the sun decides to get out of bed the snow may go.

Taking my van in to get snow tires on it this morning ..then home to clean.

Good Morning Everyone from the soaking rainy rocky coast of Maine.

Looks like it will be dryer later on today.

All is well here as Friday comes and goes.
Getting close to Election Day and I
would like to believe that all is right
with the world,  but of course, only
time will tell.

After Election day,  I am going to have
to rethink  what to do with all that
time that is now wasted on
"election stuff" ...   Also
in just a few days,  Erin will be
off into her new apartment.     :'(

So it is time for me to start
preparing  for new days and
new ways.
I  never sit too long contemplating
empty plans.  I guess that I will
first start by reorganizing,  again
and getting rid of all the food that
is here that I don't want to be here,
as it is all too tempting.   Erin will
take that with her.

I need to get some new authors to
add to my books on disc..
And am looking for suggestions.

Have a great day,  everyone ..

Gloria

Good morning everyone, warmer this morning and it is raining. Better than the snow they had yesterday about 30 miles from here.

LLOYD  you will get to the Sheetrock when you are able to. I slept most of the afternoon away yesterday, catching up on the sleepless night I had.

AMY  ao sorry the news about your DH was not good. You both are in my prayers.

JACKIE  you are so right about us waking early. I try to be a quiet as I can so as not to wake up the lady in the apartment below me. Seems like that is the time I will drop something and to me it sounds loud.

JANE  putzing is what one son says he does around his home on week ends. He has to be doing something all the time.

JOAN  I had one of the dinners last night and it was tasty and I could not finish all of it. They do have a big variety and really aren't that expensive. They even accept food stamps where I understand most places that deliver do not. I knew my DIL where I lived used to buy from them for several years. The man who delivered even put what I ordered into thhe freezer, I would have not been able to do that. Did not realize how much I had ordered. I still miss my fridge, had a lot more room inside than this one does. It is still running and I bought it in 1978. Back when GE made things to last.

JOY  I have a box of Schwans chicken pot pies but I will have to wait till my CNA gets here later to move the boxes around so I can get one out for my supper. I like that their food has no preservatives like what one finds in the markets. I did get some coconut shrimp that I am anxious to try.

HAL  the past week I have not slept good. Either I fall asleep early and wake a few hours later or am up half the night and fall asleep about the time Joan starts her morning post. Hope your wife starts feeling better PDQ.

LARRY  since it is almost impossible for me to cook anymore I thought I would try their meals, they have 11 different ones so should find a few I will enjoy. I can get groceries delivered but I will not buiy the frozen TV dinners because of all the preservatives they have. Schwans does not add any. Glad Pat is starting to feel better.

JUNE  I just went to Schwans.com  and it brought up the site. I do not want delivery every 2 weeks and told them I would rather order as needed. I know you will be wonderful visiting those you will see. Nothing like having someone visit and be as caring as you are.

SHIRLEY  enjoy your family reunion. I do wish I could join you camping. That was something I always enjoyed. Simple meals always tasted better when out in the fresh air all day. Watch that lead foot when driving that RV and be safe.

AMY  just heard on local news that over the border in Mass. Some roads were closed till they could get the plows/sanders out to clear the snow away.

JOAN  a mini muffin will hit the spot right now, just poured another cup of coffee. Oh boy Chuckles-can just picture #8 and #3, a lime green Gremlin, yikes. Food for Thought is another keeper. Thank you for all today's goodies.

AMY  hope the sun melts the snow so you do not have to shovel anymore.
