Hi everyone on another beautiful day.  It is 62 degrees outside now but only suppose to go up to 72 degrees later this afternoon.  The big activity today is our Adult Fellowship luncheon at 11:30.  This is the day my neighbor will be speaking on the assassination of JKF, having been an eye witness to the event.  Pat also has a chiropractic appointment at 4:30 today.  Today is also our son's 53rd birthday but because of my commitment at lunch time and his having to work this evening we will celebrate tomorrow with a trip to one of his favorite eating places, the Chop House, which is a very nice restaurant with very good food.

They are working furiously across the street with the last minute preparations for the closing on the new home across the street.  They are doing the outside plantings and spreading the pine straw and it appears all will be ready.  Hopefully this will be the last day for all the workmen and vehicles on our street.

I did call on the warranty on Pat's computer.  What a farce.  At the moment I called the internet was working on it as it does intermittently and they said there was nothing they could do and I would have to call when it wasn't working.  They also said that if they sent a repairman out and he found it working that would be it he wouldn't try to do anything.  I am going to try an external wireless adapter on it as have several of them not in use that worked on other computers.

Jenny, today is probably my last report on the building of the house as it is done with the outside planting being completed as I type.  There was an ugly overgrown lot and this house makes completes the street and looks so nice.  Sure glad you have the cart and are able to enjoy things like the museum.

June, what a nice thing to so in visiting with those who receive few visitors.  You are a blessing.

Mary Ann, I always wonder at how designated a person the expert to determine things like the exceptional point issue.

Gloria

Good morning everyone, pulled up the shades and everything I can see is covered in frost. Temperature on TV says 37° but this area is always colder than where they get their temperature from. Always cooler by the shore in summer but warmer in winter.  If I called my son here I imagine he would tell me it was in the upper 20's.

JOY  like you I am alone most of the time and do not mind at all. Nice to be able to do just what I feel like and when. No one needing anything from me.

SHIRLEY  local channels and Me TV would be fine with me. I seldom have any other channels on anyway. We are up high here and this town has always had good reception even before cable came in. Of course like Lloyd, can always find some movies on Youtube. I have watched some good old John Wayne movies there.

JACKIE  it is great when someone listens to us about our health. I have had doctors who just do not care and I am now getting a new one who is only about 5 miles from where I live. She is in the same group as the dentist I have and she is the best one I ever had.

JEANNE LEE  so glad you found the hearing aid.

JENNY  my older son and DIL were in NH last week and he was telling me there was still beautiful foliage. That is unusual and late in the season for them. I am surprised after the storm we had that more leaves are not down here. The man from Cox told me I only needed the box remote now but he really didn't test it. He did something with the router. One thing the rep who was here did say was that we would all be getting the back up battery for the phones. Wonder when that will happen.

HAL  I like 1 pm appointments, first one after the lunch hour and usually get right in on time. I have always been there early but they can always make us wait. One doctor I had would had 3 booked at the same time. That was the one if I asked a question he would walk out of the room and when he came back said he would see me in 3 months.

JUNE  you are a caring lady and I bet those bedridden and alone would love a visit from someone as caring as you.

SHIRLEY  every time I go to Yahoo I have a hard time getting in, always have to reset the password. Getting to be a real pain. When I first joined the Nest, Bunnie and Mare were teasing each other and I wondered what I got into. Took a few days for ,e to realize they were teasing each other. Those were fun days.

JOAN  will enjoy a lightly toasted bagel and cream cheese. Thank you for all today's goodies.

AMY  prayers the news of the biopsy is good.

Good Morning Everyone from a typical Fall day, here on the rocky

This should be interesting.   I hope that you will share with us anything unusual  that he might say about that event....  like whether he agrees or disagrees with the Warren Report !

So sorry to hear that Pats computer is still giving you fits ....   Is that the one that has never worked very well  ( or am I miss
remembering,  again? )

I hope that everyone has a Good day.

Good morning Larry.  IMO that's ridiculous about Pat's computer.  They just want to find a way not to fix it.

Gloria--Good Morning.  It's about time up there to get those geemogotchees out.:)

Good morning Sandy.  I agree that the presentation about JFK would be intriguing.

I don't know about any pumpkins, but there was frost on the roofs across the pond this morning.  My thermometer read 32 degrees.  I may have to start wearing my winter jacket although yesterday, when it was not quite as cold, I was able to wear one I call my transitional jacket.  Now it is 45 degrees and the sun is shining brightly.

The clock in this room has bit the dust.  It was flashing two days ago but kept the right time.  Yesterday I noticed the time was not right so one of these days I'll have to go to the supermarket to buy a new clock.  Or I may let Tom pick one out for me.  What I need will cost only $10.

Good morning, on still another cool and very windy day. I am still in my robe, have to get dressed, as I have and appointment with the foot doc.

Joan, thanks again for good reading and breakfast.

Jackie, I was awake at 2, finally got up at 3 and made  a necklace. Went back to bed at 5, and woke up at 9:30, that is why I am not dressed yet.

June, what a wonderful idea, you have, also good for you. I always say. I have to have a reason to get up and get dressed.

Hal, my goodness. What children will do to give us gray hair!

Gloria, my husband loved to watch a John Wayne movies, whenever on.

Still have not found hearing aid. The first thing I thought of when I woke up at 2AM, was my hearing aid I had ask St. Anthony and I got a vision of hall, and vacuum cleaner.  I have to find out from my cleaning lady, where she emptied it. She goes to the back of the yard to clean it out. It is a week to morrow that it is missing.

Mary Ann--I don't have a regular clock in my kitchen.  With the clock on the microwave, the stove and the computer, I  have plenty of places to check the time.

Linedancer--Sorry your sleep was broken last night.  What kind of necklaces do you make?  I sure hope you find your hearing aid like Jeanne Lee did.

Good Morning dear friends, another lovely day in Stanton..sunshine and just 75 degrees for our high.I plan to see the girl in the Care facility soon, or wait till she calls me, which she is supposed to do….whatever. I have a Drs. appt. at 1:30, and exercises at 2:45, and that will be my calling for the day.

Jackie, we do what we have to do. I nursed all three of my babies, so when they woke at whatever the hour, it was me that had to rise and shine, just as R leaves the letting out of the dogs to you. He does do the walking of the dogs, so that is a blessing. You can't and if he didn't they would have to go without a walk.

Jenny, hopefully the girl in charge at the Care facility calls me this morning as my afternoon will be busy. It won't require much of me Jenny, mostly visiting and listening. In my experience with taking care of both my mother and my husband with Ahlzheimers, I know the need of some one to listen, or just hold a hand, so it is no big deal on my part.

Amy, I well recall the Minnesota winters when my Mom would defrost the laundry in the house..it freshened the air inside so nicely in the heated, closed up house. Now a clothesline is a rarity, everything comes out of the dryer along with a piece of perfumed paper sold in the store..no clean fresh air from that. We had apple trees in most homes where we lived as a kid, and mom would wrap the apples in newspaper and store them in a container in the cellar. She also had a barrel filled with sand where she buried carrots for winter use. Nothing was thrown out in those days. Even water melon rind was pickled and canned.

Gloria de, I hope St. Anthony can do for you what humans can't. You have been without hearing for too many days now.

Time for me to get the bed made and some respectable clothing on…..so, off I go.. :walkwhistle:
As long as we are here, let's dance.

....yes its hard to find a good GP doctor, and one that does actually listen to us...baring in mind we are only allocated a 9 or 10 minutes slot..... I hope you have now found one you are happy with....The man who came to talk to me was from Age Uk, our largest charity group who help older - senior people, I was guided in their direction by the C.A.B...( Citizens Advice Bureau...)...I have never needed their help or advice before, it is quite surprising just what they can do...plus they can open doors that we cant even get a foot in, so he told me....Link.....

SHIRLEY....
...not sure I am using the correct term, re, " stage..." as Primary Progressive stays the same, does not move up or down into any other stage....and as with any of the other four MS stages, there is no one size fits all, so others with PPMS might experience differently to what I experience, there is a whole list of MS symptoms that we will suffer some, several or all at some point...

JeanneP

Mary Ann. Do you remember the small General Electric clock. Got for about $3.95 About 6 inch square .Well I was given one for Christmas in 1964. Sits on the Bathroom shelf. Use it as alarm so will get me out of bed if needed. Been plugged in since 1964 and still keeps perfect time still.  Lot of these new type digitals that you have to set every time the Power give a little flick off.
Beginning to get cold nights here also. Is getting up in the 60s during the day though. One doesn't know how to get dressed in the mornings.

June--I applaud you for wanting to visit with some in the care facility.

Joan, my clock is in the computer room and has large, bright numerals.  I'll try to get one similar.  I am training myself to look at the bottom corner of the computer screen to get the time.  Of course, I wear a watch but that slides around my wrist.  In my kitchen, I have a clock on the range, one on the microwave and one on the wall.  I guess I like to know what time it is!

Jackie, the Age UK seems to be very comprehensive in what it can do for elders.  I have no idea if we have anything comparable here.

JeanneP, I kind of remember the GE clock, but I didn't have one.  I worked in the department that sold clocks and we sold Telechron.  None of my clocks have lasted since the beginning of time!

Because I made an appointment for tomorrow afternoon, we had our "family" luncheon today, going to Applebee's.  There were just Dot, Terry, Tom and me today.

Mary Ann--Nothing wrong with wanting to know what time it is.  Glad you had an enjoyable family luncheon today.

Jackie.  Having seen how my mum. aunts and others treated by the health dept as they got older (Last 2 Aunts in the last 4 years in their 90s.) I find nothing like it done over here. I had the same Dr. here for 40 years. All great. but most have passed or retired in the last 5 years. Young ones have taken over and its gotten about the same with them. Will not sit down and explain that good. I am getting the feeling now when I see a couple of mine that instead of saying how good I am doing. Not taking drugs and able to keep up good. These new one give you the feeling that they just look at you and think . Why do people live so long. Now when they say. It just comes from ageing. I get a little smart with them. They don't realize how soon their time will come.

Whew.....what a day. Seems like I was busy from morning till night. Will soon eat some supper and get ready for bed. My son Gary will be doing Bible studies for us tomorrow, so I want to be aware and awake for his visit.

I talked with Carla at the Care center and she will give me a list of those that need a visitor. I will see her tomorrow to pick up the list. I must remember to ask her the best time for visitation . Came home and rested a bit, then down for lunch with friends. Then home for a short time and back down to the clinic to await the doctors visit...she was late, I waited for an hour and a half.....not fair, but others that see the same doctor came in after my visit...very tiring and boring. She is going to order a Nitro patch for me instead of the meds I take orally, plus a new prescription to dry up the nasal passages. I still like her in spite of the long wait. Then on to our Balance and Mobility class. Met a nice new lady and her daughter, had a fun time there.

Came home and got on the computer with emails to read and reply, most  involved with our voting coming up in a couple of weeks.

Now it is time to fix some supper and relax for the evening. I have half a sandwich that I brought home from lunch-time, plus some potato chips,   plus some fresh fruit that I will doctor up with some sliced banana and cool whip/and or some tapioco pudding. Sounds good to me.

God willing I will be back to say Goodnight. June

Another 4.am start, ( got up to check on Benji, ) now sitting here with cup of tea in hand...at least I went to bed a tad earlier at 10.30 pm, got off to sleep straight away, so 5 & a half hours sleep, I guess is sufficient...

Good evening, EVERYFRIEND.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING UP AGAIN SO EARLY, JACKIE.  please don't make it a habit....you need your rest!

We went to a prescreening of a Tom Harks movie, Inferno tonight.  It was extremely intense....not really to my liking, but certainly action packed.

JUNE, I hope your visits with your fellow residents is successful and rewarding for both sides.  As always you are always willing to help others out and that is so nice of you.
The temperature here on Halloween Evening is to be seventy degrees!  That is just crazy!

Pleasant dreams to all.

The Company Picnic

The wife chewed out her husband at the company picnic awhile back. "Doesn't it embarrass you that people have seen you go up to the buffet table five times???"

"Not a bit," the husband replied.  “I just tell them I’m filling up the plate for you.”

Food For Thought

WHY I BELIEVE THE BIBLE
(By Dr. James MacDonald)

"For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and . . . gives seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it." Isaiah 55:10-11

So what do you tell people when they ask, "You don't really believe all that stuff in the Bible, do you?" Of all the arguments you can use to defend your conviction, here's one no one can deny. "I believe the Bible because it accomplishes God's purpose in my life."

Like God says in Isaiah 55:11, "[My Word] shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it."

Have you ever felt totally convicted as you sat under the teaching of God's Word? Has the Spirit of God ever used His Word like a knife, pointing out your specific thoughts and motives? I could tell you about times God's Word has worked me over. On the flip side, has the Bible ever delivered a peace that transcends understanding? Has it strengthened you as it has me?

I wish you could see what I see from the front of my church every weekend as I teach God's Word. I look across the faces of people gripped by God's eternal truth. Tears stream down their cheeks. Some can hardly look up because they're under the convicting power of the Holy Spirit. Hear this - God's Word is always effective in doing the job that He intended it to do.

I am convinced beyond any doubt that the Bible is divinely inspired in its totality, inerrant in doctrine, infallible in authority, immeasurable in influence, personal in application, regenerative in power, diverse in its unity, and infinitely trustworthy. This reality not only compels me to celebrate it, but to obey it. Why? Because I've experienced it.

Starting today, make a greater personal investment in God's Word. You've got the time - just set your priorities. Make it the passion of your life to discover what it means to delight in the law of the Lord (Psalm 119:77).

And the next time someone asks you, "do you believe the Bible?" proclaim your confidence in God and the book He has written by answering, "I am glad you asked. . . ."

Thought of the Day

"God's Word generates life, creates faith, produces change, frightens the devil, causes miracles, heals hurts, builds character, transforms the circumstances, imparts joy, overcomes adversity, defeats temptation, infuses hope, releases power, cleanses our minds, brings things into being, and guarantees our future forever."

- Rick Warren

Gloria

Good morning everyone, slept like a log for 4 hours now wide awake and here just before 3AM. Wonder if I am getting a cold, been sneezing and emptied 1 box of tissues already.

JOAN  the geemogotchees are going on today, just 34° now and will be colder yet before dawn. Bet my son will tell me it was into the 20's at his house just 3 miles from me. He has a great thermometer and here all I have is what I have on the PC. Later when I turn on the TV it will be the  report from the official site at the airport in Warwick and that is near the ocean.

MARY ANN  2 years ago one son got me a kitchen clock that runs with a battery, days and date changes. Once he hung it up keeps great time but the day/date does not move. It did the week it laid on the table but not on the wall.

JUNE  there are clothes lines here that a few people do hang their clothes on. Wish I could but I cannot reach up to the lines anymore. Our 98 year old hung hers out till this year, and 1 man hangs his out and a couple other ladies do. I only had pickled watermelon rind once and it was quite good.

JACKIE  seems like a GP is no longer to be found here. What we get now are Internists who keep sending us to specialists. I do have a new doctor, a woman this time, but I will be seeing her NP-nurse practitioner. In some ways they are better than a doctor, take time to listen to us and they can also write prescriptions, at least in this state they can. This one is about 5 miles from where I live, not much traveling. It is great that you found a program to help you.

JEANNEP  the new doctor I will be seeing is the doctor of several of those living here and they all have said how good she is. Since we are all seniors here must mean she is OK with us.

LLOYD  you will keep on going until the good Lord calls you home. Feeling loved, wanted and needed is what we all need to feel.

JOAN  will enjoy an apple fritter. I like Food for Thought today. The quote goes right along with it. Thank you for today's goodies.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  And a special "good morning, Joanie, to you.

I especially liked the quote this morning and I've copied it to hang with others that I've hung to remind me how things are. I've even looked up Rick Warren and so far, I like what I've read about him.

Right now it's 29º here.  I guess I better get started early enough to scrape my windshield this morning.  It's not likely to be melted by the time I leave for work.

Last night a friend and I went to an interfaith gathering on Faith and Fear.  It was organized by a member of my church and is sponsored by my church.  This session was led by a Unitarian minister.  She was very good and she ended the session by giving everyone a small stone to carry around for the week.  It represents our greatest fear which we had been asked to voice during the meeting.  There was another minister who was part of our small group and when she voiced her fear of ending life with some condition that would not let her know or remember her Lord she noted that part of her prayers contain the line...."Lord, if I forget you, hold onto me!"  I've made this line part of my prayers also.

This was a very interesting gathering and I'm looking forward to the next one next Tuesday.

Now I have to go get my rock from the dresser where I put it last night and then feed the doggies and myself.  Have a lovely day doing exactly what you wish.

My morning has gone a tad faster than my usual mornings -days....R's hairdresser was here 9.30am for around 30 mins then soon after one of Rs nieces and hubby turned up, they were over for a few days as it was half term at schools and she is a teacher, these are the couple who's then teenage son got mugged several years ago, now he is a grown man who is doing fine in life for himself...they have two very well turned out grown up children...

larryhanna

Hi everyone on this Wednesday morning.  We are suppose to only get into the mid-70's this afternoon.  This should be a very enjoyable day as we will go out to celebrate Scott's 53rd birthday with a nice lunch at the Chop House Restaurant.  Even though he has to work tonight he wanted to go ahead with lunch and he said he just wanted to spend some time with us, which is appreciated.

I haven't decided whether I will go to the evening meal at the church or not.   I also plan on a quick trip to the pharmacy at Walmart to pick up a prescription and will do that as soon as they open.  My neighbor's talk on the JFK matter was very well received by the lunch group yesterday and a number of the folks came up to him to discuss it further.  So it will be a full time.

They apparently didn't get closed on the new house across the street yesterday and I have seen the builder over there this morning and now the painters have returned.  There must have been some delay.

Gloria, I guess I have been fortunate with the doctor's I have had as I never sensed that they didn't care about me or the problems I was seeing them for.  I think a lot of the doctors double or triple book.

Sandy, my neighbor does not agree with the Warren Report at all.  There were two further investigations into the matter conducted by special committees of Congress done later and he recommended a book entitled "Contract on America" that is based on the all of the testimony and evidence.  He is convinced that the assassination was planned and carried out by the Mafia.  I ordered the book from Amazon when I got home as it is available for $4 including shipping.

Mary Ann, when it gets into the 40's here I will be wearing my leather jacket.  The cold really bothers me.

June, the nice thing about your volunteering to spend a little time with those that need someone to care is that you both will be blessed by your efforts.  Just having someone take your hand and speak to you can mean a lot to brighten one's day.

Jackie, the Chiropractor has helped Pat a lot as she is certainly much better than when she started seeing him.  She is still suffering but it is better.  First thing in the mornings are difficult and getting in an out of the car is painful to her.  She just can't stand to be on her feet very much.

Gloria, I am shocked that you have outside clothes lines available where you now live.  It has been a long time since I have seen an outside clothes line.  I hope you will like your new doctor.

JaneS, your Interfaith meetings sounds interesting.  I had a boss give me a worry stone one time telling me I was worrying too much.  Another time one of our associate ministers came to the hospital to see me and give me a little plastic heart to remind me to let Christ bear my burdens involved with the surgery I was facing.  How many sessions will your meeting have?
