Good Sunday morning, Everyfriend.  There's  blueberry toaster strudel to go with your coffee or tea.  Have a blessed Sunday.

Thanks to Phyllis for her nice “Pumpkin Shopping” graphic creation which we are using this week.

Chuckles

Rules for Choosing a Super Hero Name

1. Don't call yourself by your real name: e.g., Ms. Jenny Pinchuck, The Amazing Stevie Foster.

2. Don't call yourself by someone else's real name: e.g., Mr. Teddy Kennedy, Captain Dean Martin.

3. Choose a name that suggests power, heroism and prowess: e.g., Captain Power, Thunderman, Mr. Invincible, Justiceman.

4. Don't be too modest: e.g., Mr. Pretty Good, Captain So-so, Fairly Incredibleman.

5. But don't labor the point: e.g., Mr.
So-Powerful-Don't-Even-Think-About-It-Buddy.

6. Don't choose a name detrimental to your crime fighting image: e.g., Captain Spongecake, Mr. Silly, Yellow Streak, Purple Slippers, Captain Evil

7. Don't choose the name of an existing Superhero unless you have lots of money and enjoy fighting litigation instead of supervillains.

8. It's no use calling yourself Captain Invincible if your only power is control over Hostess Twinkies and you suffer from a congenital heart condition. It's just asking for trouble.

9. Don't call yourself the Invisible Boy if you're not.

10. Don't call yourself the Invisible Boy if you're a girl.

11. Don't give away important information in your name, e.g. The Glass Jaw, Captain Vulnerable To Strontium 90.

12. Don't call yourself The Green Avenger if you wear an orange costume.
You'll confuse people.

Food For Thought

God’s Odd Road to Greatness:
Being Last, Least & Loving the Lowly
(By Rev. Kerry S. Doyal)

Your decision: is the following question rhetorical or dumb. Have you ever had a conversation you were glad Jesus didn't ask you about later? Perchance you talked about someone in a way that was less than flattering or something that was hardly holy or edifying. Bonus question: ever had one of those chats right after church or a Bible study?

How would you feel - rhetorically speaking, of course - if Jesus asked you and your chit-chat mates after such a juicy dialogue: "what were you just talking about?" And, what if - of all things - it were not gossip or garbage but a bragging session about who in your group was the greatest?

Unthinkable? One would hope so. However, check out this slice-of-life from Jesus and His disciples as recorded by Mark in his gospel.

"From there they went out and began to go through Galilee, and He did not want anyone to know about it. For He was teaching His disciples and telling them, "The Son of Man is to be delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill Him; and when He has been killed, He will rise three days later." But they did not understand this statement, and they were afraid to ask Him.

They came to Capernaum; and when He was in the house, He began to question them, "What were you discussing on the way?" But they kept silent, for on the way they had discussed with one another which of them was the greatest.

Sitting down, He called the twelve and said to them, "If anyone wants to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all." Taking a child, He set him before them, and taking him in His arms, He said to them, "Whoever receives one child like this in My name receives Me; and whoever receives Me does not receive Me, but Him who sent Me." - Mark 9:30-37 NASV

Did you catch that? Right after Jesus tells them He - the exalted Son of Man - is going to be killed, they debate their pecking order. Instead of being good disciples who seek to grasp their Master's meaning, they debate who was top dog. Twelve little Mohammed Ali's clamoring that "they are the greatest."

Jesus modeled humble servanthood to His disciples. He also taught them His odd road to greatness: willingly being last, least & loving the lowly. After they fought to be first, He taught them to serve, honor others, even social nobodies.

He had graciously made some prime private time with them to teach them about Himself and what was about to unfold: He was going to be given over to men to be killed and He would be raised. Yet, His school session seemed wasted on them.

A side note of comfort to all you who endeavor to teach others' God's truth: Jesus - the Ultimate Teacher - was not always understood. At times He had psyched-out, slow learning students. Like we often do - they had assumptions and expectations that keep them from learning. They had God "in a box" and fears that flattened their learning curve. How tragic. How common.

This story reminds us that Jesus is aware of far more than we realize. Being divine, He is omniscient (all knowing) & omnipresent (ever present). He walks with us as well, seeing and hearing us.

Jesus can make a question a tough rebuke. Can you say "busted!"? What should they have been talking about? Has Jesus ever asked you a question that was a rebuke or life shaping? His query to His companions was devastating. "What were you talking about?"

Bad news, Jesus knows about our burning passion [in the natural] for personal greatness and glory. Have you admitted your desire to be great, to be served? Has it been submitted under His rule, kept in check by His Spirit?

In splendidly backwards fashion, Jesus counts those great who seek to be last, and live as lowly servants. Let's be honest: Who wants to be last or least? Who wants to have the role and status of a common servant?

I recall with pain a Professor in Bible college saying: we all want to be thought of as servants, but none of us want to be treated that way. Ouch!

Making it personal, Jesus Himself is honored when we receive the least & lowly. Not just allow them in our midst, but embracing them, linking our identity with them, even at great personal social cost. Forget "going with the go-ers," this is dragging behind with the dregs, loving what the world considers losers in Jesus' name.

Who are our socially insignificant, powerless people? Who has Jesus placed in your midst that He wants you to receive? Have you ever confessed your desire to run only with the "big dogs"?

Do you need to thank anyone for risking their reputation to be with you? Do you have any relationships you need to re-evaluate? How about first and foremost, your relationship with HIM?

Want to be first, great? Here's the secret: fight to be last, seek to serve (secretly, sacrificially) and extend your embrace of acceptance to someone you would rather avoid.

Thought of the Day

"Your character is what you really are while your reputation is merely what others think you are."

Good Morning Everyfriend!  And a special "Good Morning" to you Joanie.  I'll be off to get ready for church in a few minutes but I had to say that the inspirational reading this morning sounds like it was written directly for me.  I had a summer that I'm not sure of the Lord's reaction.  Lots of things going on that I might have handled differently.  I'm sure of his forgiveness but....

And now I'll go feed the doggies with the food that I forgot I was making last night.

JUNE...when you get up this is for you and HAL and SHIRLEY.  I'm not becoming forgetful in my old age.  When my daughter used to tell me that I was getting forgetful I always said, "You can't say that about me because I was forgetful when I was 12.  My mother told me so!"

Have a lovely day Everyfriend!

Good Sunday morning to one & all ~  I come to check the computer to see how long FitBit tells me I slept.  Got nearly 5 hours last night so I'll be looking for those zzzzzzzzzzzzs that Janie finds so conveniently.  Have a Super Sunday (thanks, Callie, I said it first today).       :angel2:

Thanks, Jane, I needed to be reminded of that .... and agree that this was a strange summer in Kansas, too.

Good morning, Janie.  I can relate to that reading, too, but in just a bit different way.

Shirley--Good morning.  I hope you find some ZZZ's later today.  5 hours isn't much sleep.

Linda and Ed will be arriving from Alabama later today.  I am not sure how many days they will stay.

Hi everyone on a very cool morning for us as it is still in the high 40's and we will only get into the low 70's late this afternoon.  As planned we stayed home all day yesterday and had a very enjoyable day.  I will go to church this morning and then bring home something for our main meal of the day.  I know that Pat is getting better as she was up before I was this morning and fixed her own breakfast for the first time in more than two months.  It seems her most painful time is trying to sit up to get up in the mornings.  She is now getting around the house without the aid of a walker or cane, which is another good indication.  I did enjoy a couple of football games yesterday and will likely watch some pro games this afternoon if I can keep my eyelids open while also listening to Don's Classical Music on my headphones.  From my office window I am enjoying seeing the Mums plant that is in full bloom as well as the five azalea bushes that are now blooming with red/orange blossoms.

I have read all the postings since I posted yesterday but am running out of time this morning so will limit my comment for today.

deAngel what good news concerning concerning your grandson being able to finally return to his home after six long months.  I see he still has more rehab but it appears there is light at the end of the tunnel if he will be able to walk on his own without the aid of a walker.

Good Morning Everyone from
the sunny and chilly,  rocky coast of Maine.

Well,  this next week I am going to be loosing
my star "border",  as Erin has got her self
a nice apartment in a great area (less then a 1/2
mile from me) ...  (very walkable)  and will
be moving on  by the beginning of next week.

I am glad that she has found a place,   but
naturally,  I will miss her.    It has been
good having Erin as a temporary roomy.

She has already started moving things this
morning.   (most of here "stuff" has been
in a storage container)   ....

So things are changing here and I will
have to start to get ready for them.
I am ready and this should keep me
busy for a while.

Have a good day Everyone !!

Good morning everyone, boy the wind whistled here last night, still windy. Don't think I got to sleep till almost 4 this morning. Rain is over and the sun is nice and bright and sky us blue. Between Friday and yesterday we got almost 5 inches of rain. Still about 5 under normal. Time to get out the winter jacket.

JOAN  about 3 years ago we had a big snow storm at this time.

HAL  when clothes froze on the line and the wind dried  they were much softer than when they come out of the dryer.

PATRICIA  must have been quite a surprise to see the cat on your balcony. Good thing he landed where he did.

JEANNE LEE  a UTI is no fun. Hope you are feeling better and your insurance will cover the lost hearing aid.

GLORIA de  wonderful news about your grandson.

BEVERLY  I don't know what the wind chill here feels like but I sure am bundled up like mid winter. At Panera's my favorite pastry is the bear claw.

SHIRLEY  like you I dislike having to py for the channels I do not watch. When the man from Sox was here last week I told him I have been looking into the inside antennas and intend to cut the cable he didn't say anything, just gave me a look.

PHYLLIS  love the kids with the huge pumpkin.

JOAN  a blueberry toaster strudel sounds good to me. Another good chuckle, love them. Food for thought brought to mind some folks I used to know. Thank you for all today's goodies. Enjoy Linda and Ed's visit and take time away from the computer to visit with them.

AMY  I remember chasing clothes that blew off the lines. No fun.

Good Morning Dear Hearts, it is a bit cloudy this morning..nice, but the sun will arrive soon enough.

I am up, all the exercises and massages are done, first cuppa' has been enjoyed and so another thankful day has arrived.

I will have a crispy sweet roll for breakfast, then on to Church at 10a.m., home, back down for lunch, then home to relax for the day. And how do you all start your Sunday mornings ?? I will peek in and find out……….

Larry, tell Pat to try rolling to her side, then use her hands to push herself to a sitting position. That's the way I get out of bed. Saves a lot of stress on the body to let the arms do the work. Good news that she was up and in the kitchen today…she is being healed for sure.

Hal, your wife doesn't have to be in Church to worship God, He is with her whenever and where ever she seeks Him, right ? There is the old saying, "Going to Church doesn't make you any more of a Christian, than standing in a garage makes you a car." I think of many of our Saints that were imprisoned, and were able to convert their jailers. You are being an excellent example for her Hal, that is the most you can do.

Time for me to close my mouth and get myself in gear to be on time for my Church going…..God Bless you all, where ever you are.

Gloria--The weather sure is changing most places.  Do you know what is going to happen to your Cox connection?

June--I start my day with prayers, then coffee and the computer,  I attend Mass via TV--can't take a chance on catching those nasty germs folks bring to church.

Lloyd--I can't do that because I don't have a laptop.

Good morning from a chilly Interior! Our snow is now more like a coating of frost and we will be warming up, we;re told, into next month. My sinuses and back are not enjoying our flip-flopping barometric pressure!

Farrah is upset with me as I have dry food she doesn't like and I am determined not to buy another type until she eats at least half of the small bag. She acts so sad and runs directly to me if I open a box or the fridge only to be disappointed. She doesn't react to the can opener. Her words are "Win," for treats and "Win-Win" for meals and she will give me a sad look and say them while following me around in the morning.  It is as if I had children again!

Our Internet here is Verizon, GCI, AT&T or Alaska Communications. I pay a little over $70.  for high-speed service and have had no complaints so far. My Tracfone suits me fine as I email or text more than anything else.

I didn't go to the Farmer's Market after church today and I've forgotten how far into the cold they continue.  I guess I'll find out the next time I go there.  The Wednesday one closes the outdoor stands sometime in November but the building is open all winter.

I did, however make a stop at WM for some things I needed and when I got home and got them put away, that darn sofa hollered at me.  I made it wait while I changed my clothes, let the dogs out and put some cream on some sore spots left over from cramps in the night.  Then I succumbed and it just grabbed me an held on.

I was telling a friend after church about visiting this site and i think she might check us out.  Keep your eyes peeled for someone new popping in.  I'm not going to say anything about her because if she does come by, I'd like you to make up your own minds.

I think I'll try to get something done before I have to see about supper.  I hope you are all having a lovely day.

Joan, enjoy your family..
I have had neighbors  in and out all day, trying to help me find my hearing aid.  I have gone through the garbage 4 times. I do not know why I can not find it, as I went no where Wed. the only thing the cat got it if it fell on the floor

Phyllis thanks for the cute graphic..

Bis, I read one time, "Where ever I am, God is." and I believe that with all my heart. He is there for each one of us, it is up to us to reach out to Him. I hope your Linda and Ed have arrived. Waiting is one of the hardest things for me to do.

Janie, me too. I came home after lunch and could not keep my eyes open, so I put on comfy clothes, lay down, opened my book and woke up three hours later.

Gloria de, I am so sorry your hearing aid has not appeared. They cost so much now, and they are an essential to life as far as I can understand. So far I don't need one, but I pity those that have to have one and pay those steep prices. Have you searched the bed and in and around the floor by your bed ? Under a cushion of your easy chair or couch ? Try to remember where you were when you noticed the loss.

We just had a few extra rain drops, and what music to hear them falling against my window. More, please Lord.

JUNE  ir was a beautiful sunny day here till you went outside, cold and very windy. I did not stay out long, too windy to sit on the sunny porch.

JOAN  right now nothing will happen to my Cox connection. Still thinking about setting an inside antenna. The tech did fix it so that IE can be used again. For a few months it couldn't, it kept shutting off.

DON  hope you scared those students enough so they will remember the lessons.

PATRICIA  some who never felt  the barometric pressure will never understand how it affects some. I know it gets to me.

JANE  a new one posting here is always welcome. Hope your friend does come in.

GLORIA  de  the wind has been terrible here for 2 days now and it is still whistling here in this corner of the building.

Sleep well everyone.

Gloria, before you switch to antenna I hope you can find someone/anyone in your area that uses antenna to make sure you get decent signals.  Funny thing is in my own house I get quite a difference in quality of signals, I think because of how each fits on the wall above the TVs.  All 4 TVs are HD Viseo & not huge ones, in fact, all 4 are different sizes.   Smallest doesn't quite fit under the kitchen cabinet so maybe 24", probably next size up, I don't know what is standard for cabinets.  Don't do it on my recommendation even tho I am more than pleased with what I get.... but I do listen more than watch & would rather see old westerns than listen to the wizards that think they can solve the world problems with bad-mouthing everything. ( If they were so brilliant they wouldn't have to be working for a living, right?  )

I tried to post this earlier but my internet has been off & on so many times I don't know what is going on.  I called Cox & they said they didn't have a problem.... really???  REALLY?

I've got to get some zzzzzzzzzzzzs.  Cats have refused to come in to eat, Miss Callie came & I filled her up & she decided to stay in the garage.  Sure hope she doesn't get on my car again, can't get those foot prints off.

Watched John Wayne, Robert Mitchum, James Caan and Arthur Hunnicut bring law and order to El Dorado tonight.  Bad guys were Christopher George and Ed Asner and a whole bunch of other guys.  The good guys son was Johnny Crawford from The Rifleman as a teenager.  It was up to John Wayne standards.

Good evening.  Sure feels good to be posting from my recliner.  We had a wonderful time in Austin but it is always good to get home.

Our flight left on time early last evening and we arrived home around 7:30.  I prefer to get in earlier, but it wasn't too bad. It is always good to sleep in your own bed.

We got out to get some groceries purchased, and then spent the rest of the day just taking it easy.

I hope you all enjoyed your Sunday.

Thank you for our goodies today, JOAN.  I hope Linda and Ed arrived safely and you will enjoy your visit with them.

Good morning, JACKIE.

Pleasant dreams to all....

CHUCKLES

Test for Mental Acuity

It doesn't hurt to take a hard look at yourself from time to time, and this should help get you started.

During a visit to the mental asylum, a visitor asked the Director what the criterion was which defined whether or not a patient should be institutionalized.

"Well," said the Director, "we fill up a bathtub, then we offer a teaspoon, a teacup and a bucket to the patient and ask him or her to empty the bathtub."

"Oh, I understand," said the visitor. "A normal person would use the bucket because it's bigger than the spoon or the teacup.

"No." said the Director, "A normal person would pull the plug. Do you want a bed near the window?"

Food For Thought

Endings and Beginnings
(By Debbie Preuss)

Life goes on and everything, must someday come to an end
Whether it is a sunny day, or a relationship with a friend
Some things crush our heart, so we feel we can't go on
We find that it is hard, to face the coming dawn
We may have worked long and hard, at a job we love
When one day we're let go, by the boss above
As we watch our children grow, and see them test their wings
Do we dread the letting go, or does our own heart sing?
Marriage is a pleasure, you give someone your heart
But what do you do if one day, the marriage falls apart?
Or if someone you love, loses their good health
What if bad decisions, steal away your wealth?
There are so many changes, that we face each day
If things suddenly end, will we be okay?
Sometimes the end, is just a new chapter in our life
Even though it often, brings to us great strife
When the ending becomes the beginning, we'll find we can go on
Slowly through the healing, God will make us strong
One day we may look back, at the places we have been
And see the wisdom of the ending, when God did intervene
Though the ending may be painful, and so full of strife
Cling to the Savior, for He cares about our life
So when the ending becomes a beginning, see what God will do
For He loves His precious children and I know He'll see us through

Thought of the Day

When a door closes, another opens, but often times we look so long at the closed door that we don't see the one which has been opened for us.

This must be the day for sleeping in.  The doggies and I just got up, too.  They had a minor altercation over whose space was whose around 4:30 and then we all settled down again and slept until almost 7.  Very unusual for all of us.  I expec they'll want breakfast soon.

All I have on my agenda for today is to pick up TLH after school and that doesn't happen until 3:45.  I didn't get the vacuuming done because I forgot to pick up the baking soda at the store yesterday.  I discovered I have one regular size box so I'm going to use that up today and get the vacuuming done.  I can't use any of the regular deodorizing kind because of the additives in them.  Annie's skin is so sensitive to almost anything that I have to be extra careful.  But I remember my grandmother using baking soda for lots of things and it doesn't seem to aggravate Annie's symptoms.

I hope you all have a lovely, relaxing day and that you enjoy whatever comes your way.

Jackie, enjoy your solitude.  We need to have that sometimes just for renewal.

Janie--Good morning.  Good luck enticing that vacuuming done with the baking soda.

Linda and Ed left for Ed's 7 a.m. Appointment.  They will be back in a couple hours and then he has two more appointments later this morning.

Good Morning Everyone!

Janie, did I hear right, everyone sleeping in this morning, I'm not, I was up at 6 to put the coffee on and then in to get myself spic and span for my doctors appointment.  8:30 appointment that they want me there at 8, for paperwork, before I see doctor.  Not far to his office but will have to put up with folks going to w----.  I have most of the paperwork filled out, I downloaded forms from web.

Haven't stuck my nose out so don't know what the weather is like.  Usual morning scud which we have until about 11 then sunshine and maybe a little ground fog.

Jackie, enjoy your day doing what you want.  Hope the guy gives you some good news on your care.  Did you ever hear anything about your complaint?

Need to finish some things.....

....as it was dealt with within the same hospital, reading between the lines they certainly were sticking up for the MS team....got an apology for their mess-ups but they admitted that they couldn't get to the bottom of who cancelled my appointment, so that was a complete waste of time...As for the MS Consultant, he is still adamant he doesn't intend on seeing me again, basically because its the Primary Progressive form I have yet, that was the same form of MS I had back at my last hospital, yet she was willing to see me the following year which would have been July...Basically it was a real waste of time putting in my complaint....Cant get myself any other MS Specialists as they all come under our NHS and have their allocated catchment areas...

Good morning everyone, Slept on and off last night, crazy. Looks like it rained overnight again and still windy. Just heard on the news that we will be down to the freezing mark and below by mid week. Will be back to dressing in layers again, had a cozy sweatshirt on yesterday, glad I have them out and ready for this.

SHIRLEY I knew the manager would not want anything on the walls but at the meeting she did say that one like what would be put on a window. What I was looking at would be on the TV table had a ring that turns to bring in better reception. My TV is not near the window and that flat antenna would need a very long cord. The one I am talking about has a 90 money back guarantee so plenty of time to see if it would work. I still hesitate, you are the only one I know who has an inside antenna. Guess Cox could not ignore us when a whole building was complaining about no TV.

JANE  now that is my kind of movie. Never saw a John Wayne movie I didn't
enjoy.

JENNY  always good getting home to your own place.

JOAN  a sticky bun is a great way to start the day. I wish you a good visit with Linda and Ed. Just copied Endings and Beginnings. I would like to see this posted in the weekly newsletter we get here. We have some who only seem to dread the end of our lives. They can sure depress the rest of us. Thank you for all today's goodies.

JACKIE  great that a man is going to your home to help plan for your future.

AMY  yes it is time to think of snow tires and winterizing the lawn mower and tiller. Glad I no longer have to worry about things like that.

JANE  so many uses for baking soda, would never be without it in the house, that and Epsom salts.

HAL  hope your doctor appointment has good news for you.

LLOYD  good morning.

Good morning , Joan and all the friends who follow.

Thanks for the sticky buns this morning.   Something different and very good.

Jackie,  hope that you will have a good day,  getting to do exactly what you want to do.  I am pretty much by myself everyday, and I do enjoy my solitude a lot.  It took me a long time to finally realize that, being by myself,  I am not obligated to anyone and I can do just what I feel like doing.  I know you are not usually by yourself,  but hope you can enjoy the day doing something special.

Pretty sunny morning here on the central east coast,.  But, I had to push my thermostat up for the furnace to kick on.  I am afraid tha our beautiful, balmy days of last week are gone for the season.  It was wonderful while it lasted.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Monday.

Joy

Gloria, lots of people use the antennas here but we have pretty good reception .... but not ALL the time.  Weather can mess up the signal but in my case, it's more background noise than anything & I am satisfied with watching old re-runs (no-brainers) just to chill out when I do sit.  I am afraid you will be disappointed if you
aren't in an area that has quite a few choices. I can get the PBS station on 2 of the TVs but all cracked up on the other 2.... can't depend on it.  Can get the ME station all the time & the 3 local stations, but locals sure have a lot of sports~

I am not getting going too good this morning.... cats were out all night & must be waiting at the door.

Will be back later after everyone eats.  Good morning to all!!!!

Over half way through, another 3 & a half hours or so, usually I would welcome a day like today but Benji has already gone down once through his excitement on our slippery part of the floor when the man knocked at the door, I had trouble lifting his body up again....

Just taken in possession of our two pieces of new decking matting's, they are to prevent slipping on wet or icy weathers, just as well as its raining today...they do have drainage holes...

Good morning Joy.  It's chilly here (for Florida)--sweater weather but it will warm up as the day goes on.

Shirley--Good Morning.  No antennas allowed here.

Hi everyone on a beautiful crisp Monday morning.  We do expect to reach the low 80s this afternoon.  There is lots of activity at the new house across the street as this is the last day they have to work before the closing, that according to the builder, is to occur tomorrow.  I know they still have to build the back yard wooden fence that all of these houses have and they are now painting the columns on the front porch.  It should be a busy day over there.

I looked at my receipt from when I bought the laptop for Pat and found I have two years of warranty coverage as COSTCO provides the second year.  I will be calling them today to see what needs to be done to get Pat's laptop fixed.  I hope they will authorize repair locally but that is probably too much to ask for and I will have to send it off.  At least I still have the box it came in.

Today I will attend my noon meeting and then plan on stopping at COSTCO to fill the gas tank on the car and then get two or three items from the store.  At 4 pm Pat has another Chiropractic appointment.  That will be plenty for today along with the normal chores here at home and getting the evening meal.

Sandy, I agree with you that are you fortunate to live near your kids and Grand kids.  We are at least very near to our son but a very long ways from our granddaughter and our great grandchildren.

Gloria, 5 inches of rain in a few days is a lot of rain.  Hope the wind will have died down in your area today.

June, Pat does roll to her side when she gets out of bed but it doesn't seem to help.  This morning she tried raising the head of the bed but she said that didn't help either.

JaneS, you must have the loudest sofa around with it always hollering for you to get a little sleep.  :)  I hope you enjoy your quiet day today.  I do hope your friend will check us out.

Jenny, glad you are safely home after your fine trip.

Joan, I liked your chuckles for today.

Jackie, I hope you are very careful today since you will be alone for so long.  I do hope you get some good information from the "Age Conern..." fellow.  Sorry to read your didn't get any satisfaction from your complaint about the MS Consultant.  Perhaps you would be seen by a different person were you to get another appointment.

Hal, do you ever wonder if anyone looks at the paperwork we seem to have to fill out on almost every visit?  It does help to get the paperwork in advance.  I hope your appointment today went well.

The man who came to see me, re, our business talk...I found out through our conversations of my Urinary bleed hospital visit in less than a couple of weeks, and the mention of my bladder changes, re, MS, that he too understands me when I mention bladder changes as he then told me that he is - has been, dealing with prostate cancer, I asked him if he had it under control, if he was alright now.... he informed me yes, as long as he sticks to a diet he had been put on, and he mentioned of something else? which is under control...He was a real nice and friendly man, I made him a cup of coffee as soon as he arrived, spent quite some time with me...guess he would have been around my age group if not, a tad older...

OK Jeanne,    now I am curious..
Where was your hearing aid?  And how did you find it.

My guess is that it was under your bed, perhaps behind
one of the legs,  so no one could see it.

Could we play 20 questions?   (giggle)

Good morning, EVERYFRIEND.

It is a beautiful morning here in the Mile High City.  We are to be in the 70's all week long....sure is a unusual October.  I am not going to complain as my tree in the front of the house still is full with leaves and a snow now would be devistating.  I do believe this particular tree is more vibrant in color than ever before this year.  It is still very colorful through the metro area but a lot of leaves are on the ground.

JOAN, thank you for the goodies today.  I enjoyed them all very much.  Continue to enjoy your time with the family.  I forgot to mention that I did see that it was YOUR and Ray's wedding anniversary and I did think about you with special thoughts.

JACKIE, I do hope R made it back safely with the new car.  Is it a different model and color than the one he turned in?   I hope the rest of the time you were alone went without incident and Benji had no other issues.  It sounds like the visit with the gentlemen from from the age concern meeting went well, but did he give you any encouragement for a solution?  I certainly hope so.  I think I understand better about the problem with the MS Consultant now....however, I do not understand how they can make the choice not to see you?  I know it is just another example of "red tape", so it is confusing at best.  It seems to me that they owe you care no matter where you live, but of course that is black and white, and nothing seems to be that way these days.  My prayers for you and of course your Benji.  I am intrigued by your comment that the man said his prostate problems is better if he stays on his diet.  Bob was not told about any diet change so I wonder what change would help the issues?  I am sure he did not get that detailed about it to you.

JEANNE LEE.....so happy to read you found your hearing aid!

LARRY, I am sure happy to read that Pat is feeling so much better and is able to continue to do more for herself.  I have to tell you that I look forward to hearing the progress you tell regarding the new home across the street.  I, too, hope you can get the laptop repaired locally, but I doubt it too.  Enjoy your day.

HAL, hope your appointment went well for you today and that you are back home enjoying your day.  We sure enjoyed our time in your part of the states, in Austin...the weather was perfect.

GLORIA, it appears the meeting with Cox helped, but they did not totally accomplish a fix to the reception problem....sure seems they could have done it internally rather than individual reception devices!

We are going to venture out today and visit one of the larger museums as it is a "free" day.  I will be taking my scooter so will be able to ride and see more than if I had to walk.  I should be staying home and doing laundry.....but the laundry can just wait...it is not going anywhere!

Enjoy your day.

Jenny

JENNY....
...R's still got another couple hours driving, his original app was for next week but our clocks go back this weekend, it would have been darker for him to have driven home, so he brought his changeover app closer...He is going for the same car but different colour of my choosing, white, of course now he may continue on his plan instead of buying it after a few months at his second hand discounted price from them...just like him to go back on his word....

The Age Concern man didn't elaborate on his diet, I never asked him, just that he is following it...he also mentioned about his med's, and his next follow up app...

Of course you must take up the opportunity of visiting your museum especially that you will get in free, dirty washing can wait...

Jenny we have a right to MS care but looking up on the internet I came across, " their are 450, or was that 540 MS Specialist Nurses to every one person with MS in UK...As for the Consultant, he should be seeing us once a year at least...Seems to be if we have Primary Progressive we get discarded...or at least in Dorset we do...
Wish I had of known what I know now, I would have never moved here...I had them all back at my old address, either from the Hospitals team, MS Therapy Centre, and an Incontinence Nurse at another surgery, with an annual follow up.....

Well, I am back home with an appointment in December to get a shot in my back.
I have to go across town to a surgical center for it, because of my AFib.  What fun to get old.  Boy are the doctors busy beavers.  When I went in there was only one other person waiting, when I came out the place was full, including the parking lot. Have to remember to always get an early appointment.

Jackie, would writing a letter (or sending an email) to your MP help in regards to your MS problem.  Sometimes over here a letter to our Congressman will get people off the dime and get some action.  I cant believe they just leave you hanging.  You have a real problem and need care and assistance.

Hey Jeanne, did I HEAR that you found your hearing aid?  ::)  bad pun.  I am happy that you did.  Now like someone said we still have to find the other one.

We now have showers around the area.  Showered over at the doctors office while I was inside.  But parking lot and care was wet when I cam out and a few black clouds float around. So who knows, maybe one here at the house.

.....to be honest, the complaints feedback has left it open for if I want to get back in touch with them, but I want to be independant and find a good team somewhere else, but this is what I am now finding I am coming up against, this "catchment area " trap...they have got you by the short and curlies...

Good Morning All,  What a thrill.....I woke up this morning to thunder and lightning (note, the correct spelling IS lightning, NOT lightening) and what a thrill that was. I haven't seen and heard a good thunder storm for too long, enough rain to be heard, but it didn't last long enough. But it sure made the beginning of my day a happy one.

I plan to wait till mid morning when the morning rush is over in getting breakfasts delivered and patients ready for the day, and take a walk over to the Care facility to see if they would accept my help. I have this urge to visit patients that do not get family care very often, and are more or less bed-ridden. If only to hold their hand and talk with them, sing with them, pray with them, write letters for them..just small things they can no longer do. I do not want it to be programed, as I have reached the stage in life where I do not feel adequate to go out and about. So I will talk with the volunteer directress and see if I am acceptable under those terms. I would want her to tell me the best time of day to do  this, if I am needed to it. Monday is not a busy day, so I feel free to make my offer.

Jackie, I hope you have a happy and contented day on your own. Do you cook all the meals when R is at home, or does he do his own ? When my kids were little and Ed would be out of town we would have simple meals, which they enjoyed and spent more time in play. We had a big back yard with a swing set and we sort of vacationed...sort of "when the cat's away, the mice would play". Ed was more strict and we had meals at a certain time come rain or shine.

Jeanne Lee, I am so thankful you found your hearing aid ! That should make your day. Maybe you could give Gloria de a hint as to where she should look ??

Bis, sounds like your Sis and BIL are there on a working visit. Nice for them and for you. I hope you are not cooking big meals.

It has become mid morning all of a sudden, so I had better get myself in gear and trot over to the Care building. Back later.

Hi Sandy.

Jenny--Glad you liked today's stuff.  Thanks for the anniversary remembrance.

Halkel--I sure hope that shot helps you.

Vanilla/Jackie--Interesting how "r" trades vehicles.

June--How nice of you to want to visit those patients that have no family.  It's my daughter and son-in-law that are here.  Nope--not cooking big meals.

These gadgets have taken over my life.... been trying to get the password I changed on the computer (for Yahoo family mail) to let me read on the phone & Kindle but CAN'T find where/how to do it.  So I'm going to use G-mail for family for now.  I ordered a mini SD card for the phone so I can store photos on it when I'm traveling, next is to find the manual on how to install it. I remember putting it in the RV so I could "study" it.... haha... so it is somewhere out there.

June, I understand about not wanting a set time to be "on duty" again, but I think it is a perfect job for you. Can't think of anyone with a kinder heart to help the helpless.

Jeanne Lee.... there is more hope for finding lost items with your win this morning!  Congratulations...

Now I'd better go fix lunch & do something besides play with these toys.  Did a u-Tube search to see if I could watch a video on how to install that SD card.... got carried away & downloaded the manual plus copied some of the special interest parts to a Word Pad & saved on the desktop... easier to pick out what I need fast.

Jackie, with the visits to the different places lately, how does your stage(if that's the right word) of MS compare with others you meet?  Do they offer advice?  It is difficult to be your own care giver as we age and progress with all our health problems, kind of scary for those of us left behind. I know you have more idea of how your MS will go (maybe?) but we are all in the same boat of not knowing when our time will come to need special help.  It is comforting to me to come in here & we are all ready to cheer each other on... but quite a few of us are really on our own, so don't get down in the dumps if R isn't a great care giver... my husband would not have been had we reversed roles.  Some people just don't know how.... Hang in there, I know it is especially hard right now with watching your baby get worse, that heavy heart never gets a let up.
Hugs for a better tomorrow.....

Amy & hanging out clothes.... I don't have a clothesline at this house but when we lived west of town and out in Western Kansas, we didn't HANG clothes, we hung onto them & used a clothes pin ever couple inches to keep them on the line as the blew straight out & often me with it on the sheets. So many times they would rip off the line & down in the dust.... when you have that much wind you don't grow grass so...  :tissue:  But they did smell good.   ;)

Hi, Jenny.... are the leaves all down now?  I am kicking myself I didn't stay longer or take a drive up to Mt.Princeton when I was there.... got home & read the leaves were at their peak at that time.  The water problem was nothing, just a fitting that worked loose!  Hopefully this next trip to MO will be a repeat of the last... NO problems with the RV & Tom didn't even get car sick!

I'm off (don't say it, Hal!!!!)  to fix lunch.

Now last night it was both my TV and My internet that was going on and off from about 8pm to 9:30pm  . Seems O.K today
Now I have a good Antenna on my Roof. Quite a new one. I used one for years and could get all the TV I wanted to watch. But then I needed WIFI for my Ipad and Tel. so I just added the TV onto my Comcast Acct.  Just use the Basic for TV but I could get more stations on my Antenna than this Basic TV gets.  Antenna was free. Comcast TV $19.95.

Shirley, your last line reminded me of an exchange between my parents that took place occasionally.  Dad would leave for school  in the morning (teacher) and he'd say, "Well, I'm off!" and Mother would say "You sure are!"  Of course he knew she was kidding.  But I find myself saying it sometimes to someone in the family when they leave.  I wouldn't dare say it to someone else!  I have a tendency to be sarcastic and with that, a person has to "be there"!

Grand Haven is a bit windy today and there is a kite flying.

Mary Ann.... and that's why I told Hal to not say it (we used to look for a chance to say that to anyone that dared say, "I'm off").... Hal is ABOUT as big of a tease as your Norm was.   ;)  In the Random Images to the left there was a photo of Norm & Dot just now... sure do miss his joking with Papa John.

Joan, for sure too many gadgets & I'm too lazy to learn how to use any of them.  My computer is not the only one off & on today, just talked to a neighbor that said her husband had gotten a booster to see if that helped.  If I slow down typing, it goes off.  I did finally get the photo to my computer, was one I took at the park near me yesterday to show how drab the trees are this year.  Will try to resize & post "one of these days".   ;D

JeanneP, the roof antennas are a hazard with our winds, we discovered they worked pretty well inside the attic & that is what my son uses.  I just have the little ones on each TV, about the size of a sheet of notebook paper.  If I remember, my phones, internet & basic cable was going up to about $180 a month when I quit.  It dropped to less than $60 for phones (unlimited with all services, call waiting, caller ID etc)... & the slower internet.  I tried the faster internet a couple months & could not tell the difference.  My cell is a different bill...a tracfone that I pay for by the year & with the smart phone I get triple minutes, have so many minutes for phone, text & internet or whatever the 3rd thing is called I can be easy about using.  It may be smart enough to do all that but the driver isn't!

Merry Monday!

What a beeeyoouutiful day in central Oklahoma.   The two pots of mums in the front flower bed planters simply gave up after the first blooming.   That area is shady for about 90 minutes every afternoon so, today, I trimmed them all back, put about a gallon of water/plant food in each one and gave them a good lecture on Blooming Again....or ELSE   :noway:   :knuppel2:

Last Saturday,  I got a few gourds and miniature pumpkins to arrange under the garden flag between those planters.  So, if the mums disobey orders,  I'll still have a "pop" of color there.

Two sons, one daughter-in-law, grandson and girlfriend went to our rural acreage in southeastern Oklahoma last weekend.   The guy who leases it had put out a trap for wild hogs, who "take over" almost the entire county about twice a year and are very destructive.  Family found 8 of them in the trap.
Didn't get details on what happened next  ::)  but sons say they brought home some of the meat  (I didn't know wild hogs were edible  :buck2:) and, today, #2 son sent a picture of a 35 pound ham he was ready to put in his smoker.  Not sure I want to eat wild hog ham - but it would surely make good seasoning for beans, black-eyed peas, etc.

I had a clothes line in Colorado for several years.   During the winter, the ground underneath it had to be shoveled because the snow was so high that the sheets dragged.

Busy week ahead.  All good things but will need to "keep to the schedule" - which I'm not in the habit of doing any more.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere Good Days.

Now I could have home line with Comcast also but thing is I do lot of Calling out of the US. Don't think Comcast can do it.  Now I can call UK on my Mobile phone. 10 cents a minute I think.  I just use the International Phone card to do it. 3 cents a min.

Bis, sorry about my mistaking relatives…just one of those SR. moments. (in lesser terminology stupidity.) I hope you are enjoying every moment with them and not getting too tired out. I find even family, for more that a few hours leaves me fatigued. But I have quite a few years on you. I did not see the lady in charge of volunteers, she had the day off, but her helper is going to have her contact me tomorrow.

Tisie, how kind you are my dear, thank you. It is something that just keeps nudging me, so figure I had better pay attention and follow through.

Ended my day after lunch with a quiet afternoon of reading and dozing. Now it is almost six thirty, so I will reheat my spaghetti lunch I brought home, plus fresh fruit, and change to bedtime clothes and some more relaxing and t.v. Hope to come back to say Goodnight.

JeanneP, I would not tell you that you're OFF because I don't think you are.  I don't always agree with something anyone has said or done, but it is not my nature to contradict people.  So, keep on keeping on!''

I have had my supper so there is a very contended stomach to take to bed, which I will soon do. Have to clean up the kitchen, get early morning meds put out where I will see them on my first a.m. trip to the bathroom...my kitchenette is adjacent to the bathroom and is lighted up by a night light..very handy.Must put on nighty, Brush the teeth, wash and cream the face, and off to the welcoming bed and book. I'm tired just thinking of all that stuff to do. Praise the Lord. I love you all, keep well and happy and we will meet again on the morrow. June

It is bedtime but I thought I would stop in and say HELLO.

Just watched my Broncos beat the Texans.  This was our old back up quarterback Brock Osweiler here for the first time after turning his back on the Broncos by heading to Houston.  His team mates were very disappointed when he left.

Good morning JACKIE.  Sorry you are up so early due to your Toby barking.  I hope you can get a nap in at some point.

JUNE, I think your thought to go and help someone to do things they are not capable of is a wonderful idea.  I hope the person in charge was accepting of your offer.

SHIRLEY, there are a lot of leaves still left on trees down here, but I do not know about the higher country.  I will try to find out.

We enjoyed our outing today to the Nature and Science Museum and The Denver Zoo.  It was a beautiful day out and the animals were all so active and we really enjoyed watching them.

Pleasant dreams to all.

Power Failure

I was browsing in a souvenir shop when the man next to me struck up a conversation. Just as he was telling me that his wife was getting carried away with her shopping, a brief power shortage caused the lights to flicker overhead.

"That," he sighed, "must be her checking out now."

Food For Thought

Ripe for Harvest

By Joel Vande Werken
Scripture Reading: John 4:34-41

Open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.
John 4:35
At harvesttime, a farmer’s entire focus is on getting the crop in from the fields. Ripe produce will spoil if left in the fields too long. Weather or pests can damage yields. So a careful farmer will work long hours in harvest season to ensure that the entire crop is safely gathered in. No responsible farmer would want to ignore the signs of harvest.
Jesus challenged his followers to be similarly aware of the spiritual harvest around them. Though the Samaritans, traditional rivals of the Jews, might have seemed to be spiritually unproductive, God was doing a great work in them, and many of them became believers.
Perhaps you are discouraged because a family member refuses to listen to the message of Christ. Or you look at the world around you and see a culture hostile to the gospel. It may seem that people who ¬oppose God are gaining the ¬upper hand. Jesus reminds us that God often does unexpected work right under our noses. Like a hardworking farmer, we must remain diligent and focus on the spiritual harvest God has set before us.
But this hard work does not mean drudgery in Christ’s service. Jesus points to the joy of the sower and the reaper to remind us of the excitement of dealing with matters of eternal consequence. In your conversations this week, ask God to show you his intended harvest.
Open my eyes, Lord, so that I can see where you are at work. Prepare me for the work of harvesting what your Spirit has sown, and give me joy in serving you. Amen.

Good morning everyone..

We are off to the city for 2 appointments today, one is getting my van undercoated and the other is a follow up of hubby's surgery, pray the biopsy is clean!!

Yesterday I waltzed across floors with two partners, vacuum and mop..then in the afternoon I checked out the back of my eye lids.

Shirley, I have hung laundry out in the winter only to bring them in so stiff they could stand up on their own..but a little heat from the house has them dry enough to put away. Love the smell of laundry, bedding, when hung out in winter.

Gloria, I missed out on my apples yesterday as the market wasn't open when I was in town, maybe tomorrow will be a better day to stock up on apples.

Joan, thank you for breakfast.....

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's supposed to be in the high 40s to mid 50s today.  That's not bad for almost November in Central PA. I remember this time of year being so cold that the kids had to wear snow suits under their "trick or treat" outfits.

I'll be off to Wally World at 9.  Wish me smiles.  Then I have to pick up some papers at the Credit Union and come home and finish the vacuuming.  I don't waltz with it.  It's more of a one-step!

I hope you all have a lovely day doing exactly what you feel like doing and enjoying every minute.

Good Morning Everyone!

First, Amy, you have my prayer for your husband.  Please keep us informed.  Pins and needles are not a nice place to be.  Bless both of you.

Jackie, you have already put in a full day, your time.  We (the wife) kept one of the twins last night.  His brother had an early morning appointment for an operation to remove a rock from his nose.  One he stuffed up there so far they couldn't remove it without putting him to sleep so he would keep still.  We should be hearing something soon.

Haven't ventured out so don't know how the weather is.  It is comfortable here in the house.  Weather person said possible showers.

I need to talk to some of you here on this forum.  There seems to be a lot of dancing and schmoozing going on with different objects that are known to cause tiredness and even cause a form of sleeping sickness.  So cut it out.  Or I am going to send you outside to play.

Joanie, thanks for breakfast, do you ever sleep?

I'm off to greet my public at Wally World.  I hope everyone is smiling!  Make today a good one!

Good morning, Janie.  I, too, remember a couple times my kids had to wear snow suits when they went "Halloweening".  I wish you smiles today at WM.

Vanilla-Jackie--Of course not.:)

Good morning, halkel.  Oh my, I've heard of children putting beans up their nose but never a rock.  Bet he'll get a reminder to NOT put anything up there for the damage it could do and how costly it is to get it out.  Yep--those who don't follow the rules need to be sent outside to play.:)

Janie--Oh dear, not play when using the doggie doo cleaner upper.

Hi everyone on another beautiful day.  It is 62 degrees outside now but only suppose to go up to 72 degrees later this afternoon.  The big activity today is our Adult Fellowship luncheon at 11:30.  This is the day my neighbor will be speaking on the assassination of JKF, having been an eye witness to the event.  Pat also has a chiropractic appointment at 4:30 today.  Today is also our son's 53rd birthday but because of my commitment at lunch time and his having to work this evening we will celebrate tomorrow with a trip to one of his favorite eating places, the Chop House, which is a very nice restaurant with very good food.

They are working furiously across the street with the last minute preparations for the closing on the new home across the street.  They are doing the outside plantings and spreading the pine straw and it appears all will be ready.  Hopefully this will be the last day for all the workmen and vehicles on our street.

I did call on the warranty on Pat's computer.  What a farce.  At the moment I called the internet was working on it as it does intermittently and they said there was nothing they could do and I would have to call when it wasn't working.  They also said that if they sent a repairman out and he found it working that would be it he wouldn't try to do anything.  I am going to try an external wireless adapter on it as have several of them not in use that worked on other computers.

Jenny, today is probably my last report on the building of the house as it is done with the outside planting being completed as I type.  There was an ugly overgrown lot and this house makes completes the street and looks so nice.  Sure glad you have the cart and are able to enjoy things like the museum.

June, what a nice thing to so in visiting with those who receive few visitors.  You are a blessing.

Mary Ann, I always wonder at how designated a person the expert to determine things like the exceptional point issue.

Good morning everyone, pulled up the shades and everything I can see is covered in frost. Temperature on TV says 37° but this area is always colder than where they get their temperature from. Always cooler by the shore in summer but warmer in winter.  If I called my son here I imagine he would tell me it was in the upper 20's.

JOY  like you I am alone most of the time and do not mind at all. Nice to be able to do just what I feel like and when. No one needing anything from me.

SHIRLEY  local channels and Me TV would be fine with me. I seldom have any other channels on anyway. We are up high here and this town has always had good reception even before cable came in. Of course like Lloyd, can always find some movies on Youtube. I have watched some good old John Wayne movies there.

JACKIE  it is great when someone listens to us about our health. I have had doctors who just do not care and I am now getting a new one who is only about 5 miles from where I live. She is in the same group as the dentist I have and she is the best one I ever had.

JEANNE LEE  so glad you found the hearing aid.

JENNY  my older son and DIL were in NH last week and he was telling me there was still beautiful foliage. That is unusual and late in the season for them. I am surprised after the storm we had that more leaves are not down here. The man from Cox told me I only needed the box remote now but he really didn't test it. He did something with the router. One thing the rep who was here did say was that we would all be getting the back up battery for the phones. Wonder when that will happen.

HAL  I like 1 pm appointments, first one after the lunch hour and usually get right in on time. I have always been there early but they can always make us wait. One doctor I had would had 3 booked at the same time. That was the one if I asked a question he would walk out of the room and when he came back said he would see me in 3 months.

JUNE  you are a caring lady and I bet those bedridden and alone would love a visit from someone as caring as you.

SHIRLEY  every time I go to Yahoo I have a hard time getting in, always have to reset the password. Getting to be a real pain. When I first joined the Nest, Bunnie and Mare were teasing each other and I wondered what I got into. Took a few days for ,e to realize they were teasing each other. Those were fun days.

JOAN  will enjoy a lightly toasted bagel and cream cheese. Thank you for all today's goodies.

AMY  prayers the news of the biopsy is good.

I don't know about any pumpkins, but there was frost on the roofs across the pond this morning.  My thermometer read 32 degrees.  I may have to start wearing my winter jacket although yesterday, when it was not quite as cold, I was able to wear one I call my transitional jacket.  Now it is 45 degrees and the sun is shining brightly.

The clock in this room has bit the dust.  It was flashing two days ago but kept the right time.  Yesterday I noticed the time was not right so one of these days I'll have to go to the supermarket to buy a new clock.  Or I may let Tom pick one out for me.  What I need will cost only $10.

Good morning, on still another cool and very windy day. I am still in my robe, have to get dressed, as I have and appointment with the foot doc.

Joan, thanks again for good reading and breakfast.

Jackie, I was awake at 2, finally got up at 3 and made  a necklace. Went back to bed at 5, and woke up at 9:30, that is why I am not dressed yet.

June, what a wonderful idea, you have, also good for you. I always say. I have to have a reason to get up and get dressed.

Hal, my goodness. What children will do to give us gray hair!

Gloria, my husband loved to watch a John Wayne movies, whenever on.

Still have not found hearing aid. The first thing I thought of when I woke up at 2AM, was my hearing aid I had ask St. Anthony and I got a vision of hall, and vacuum cleaner.  I have to find out from my cleaning lady, where she emptied it. She goes to the back of the yard to clean it out. It is a week to morrow that it is missing.

Good Morning dear friends, another lovely day in Stanton..sunshine and just 75 degrees for our high.I plan to see the girl in the Care facility soon, or wait till she calls me, which she is supposed to do….whatever. I have a Drs. appt. at 1:30, and exercises at 2:45, and that will be my calling for the day.

Jackie, we do what we have to do. I nursed all three of my babies, so when they woke at whatever the hour, it was me that had to rise and shine, just as R leaves the letting out of the dogs to you. He does do the walking of the dogs, so that is a blessing. You can't and if he didn't they would have to go without a walk.

Jenny, hopefully the girl in charge at the Care facility calls me this morning as my afternoon will be busy. It won't require much of me Jenny, mostly visiting and listening. In my experience with taking care of both my mother and my husband with Ahlzheimers, I know the need of some one to listen, or just hold a hand, so it is no big deal on my part.

Amy, I well recall the Minnesota winters when my Mom would defrost the laundry in the house..it freshened the air inside so nicely in the heated, closed up house. Now a clothesline is a rarity, everything comes out of the dryer along with a piece of perfumed paper sold in the store..no clean fresh air from that. We had apple trees in most homes where we lived as a kid, and mom would wrap the apples in newspaper and store them in a container in the cellar. She also had a barrel filled with sand where she buried carrots for winter use. Nothing was thrown out in those days. Even water melon rind was pickled and canned.

Gloria de, I hope St. Anthony can do for you what humans can't. You have been without hearing for too many days now.

Time for me to get the bed made and some respectable clothing on…..so, off I go.. :walkwhistle:

....yes its hard to find a good GP doctor, and one that does actually listen to us...baring in mind we are only allocated a 9 or 10 minutes slot..... I hope you have now found one you are happy with....The man who came to talk to me was from Age Uk, our largest charity group who help older - senior people, I was guided in their direction by the C.A.B...( Citizens Advice Bureau...)...I have never needed their help or advice before, it is quite surprising just what they can do...plus they can open doors that we cant even get a foot in, so he told me....Link.....

LARRY HANNA....
...how is the Chiropractic working for Pat? is she benefiting from it?....I know this can come at a price but if it is doing the trick, every penny would be worth it...

SHIRLEY....
...not sure I am using the correct term, re, " stage..." as Primary Progressive stays the same, does not move up or down into any other stage....and as with any of the other four MS stages, there is no one size fits all, so others with PPMS might experience differently to what I experience, there is a whole list of MS symptoms that we will suffer some, several or all at some point...

Mary Ann. Do you remember the small General Electric clock. Got for about $3.95 About 6 inch square .Well I was given one for Christmas in 1964. Sits on the Bathroom shelf. Use it as alarm so will get me out of bed if needed. Been plugged in since 1964 and still keeps perfect time still.  Lot of these new type digitals that you have to set every time the Power give a little flick off.
Beginning to get cold nights here also. Is getting up in the 60s during the day though. One doesn't know how to get dressed in the mornings.

Joan, my clock is in the computer room and has large, bright numerals.  I'll try to get one similar.  I am training myself to look at the bottom corner of the computer screen to get the time.  Of course, I wear a watch but that slides around my wrist.  In my kitchen, I have a clock on the range, one on the microwave and one on the wall.  I guess I like to know what time it is!

Jackie, the Age UK seems to be very comprehensive in what it can do for elders.  I have no idea if we have anything comparable here.

JeanneP, I kind of remember the GE clock, but I didn't have one.  I worked in the department that sold clocks and we sold Telechron.  None of my clocks have lasted since the beginning of time!

Because I made an appointment for tomorrow afternoon, we had our "family" luncheon today, going to Applebee's.  There were just Dot, Terry, Tom and me today.

Jackie.  Having seen how my mum. aunts and others treated by the health dept as they got older (Last 2 Aunts in the last 4 years in their 90s.) I find nothing like it done over here. I had the same Dr. here for 40 years. All great. but most have passed or retired in the last 5 years. Young ones have taken over and its gotten about the same with them. Will not sit down and explain that good. I am getting the feeling now when I see a couple of mine that instead of saying how good I am doing. Not taking drugs and able to keep up good. These new one give you the feeling that they just look at you and think . Why do people live so long. Now when they say. It just comes from ageing. I get a little smart with them. They don't realize how soon their time will come.

Whew.....what a day. Seems like I was busy from morning till night. Will soon eat some supper and get ready for bed. My son Gary will be doing Bible studies for us tomorrow, so I want to be aware and awake for his visit.

I talked with Carla at the Care center and she will give me a list of those that need a visitor. I will see her tomorrow to pick up the list. I must remember to ask her the best time for visitation . Came home and rested a bit, then down for lunch with friends. Then home for a short time and back down to the clinic to await the doctors visit...she was late, I waited for an hour and a half.....not fair, but others that see the same doctor came in after my visit...very tiring and boring. She is going to order a Nitro patch for me instead of the meds I take orally, plus a new prescription to dry up the nasal passages. I still like her in spite of the long wait. Then on to our Balance and Mobility class. Met a nice new lady and her daughter, had a fun time there.

Came home and got on the computer with emails to read and reply, most  involved with our voting coming up in a couple of weeks.

Now it is time to fix some supper and relax for the evening. I have half a sandwich that I brought home from lunch-time, plus some potato chips,   plus some fresh fruit that I will doctor up with some sliced banana and cool whip/and or some tapioco pudding. Sounds good to me.

God willing I will be back to say Goodnight. June

JEANNE P....
...I feel the same way....that us elders, " are just a burden on our society...." put on the scrapheap...

...So right, this aging process catches up with all of us, yes even to the young Doctors...they will reach here sooner than they think...
.............................
Another 4.am start, ( got up to check on Benji, ) now sitting here with cup of tea in hand...at least I went to bed a tad earlier at 10.30 pm, got off to sleep straight away, so 5 & a half hours sleep, I guess is sufficient...

Good evening, EVERYFRIEND.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING UP AGAIN SO EARLY, JACKIE.  please don't make it a habit....you need your rest!

We went to a prescreening of a Tom Harks movie, Inferno tonight.  It was extremely intense....not really to my liking, but certainly action packed.

JUNE, I hope your visits with your fellow residents is successful and rewarding for both sides.  As always you are always willing to help others out and that is so nice of you.
The temperature here on Halloween Evening is to be seventy degrees!  That is just crazy!

Pleasant dreams to all.

CHUCKLES

The Company Picnic

The wife chewed out her husband at the company picnic awhile back. "Doesn't it embarrass you that people have seen you go up to the buffet table five times???"

"Not a bit," the husband replied.  “I just tell them I’m filling up the plate for you.”

Food For Thought

WHY I BELIEVE THE BIBLE
(By Dr. James MacDonald)

"For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and . . . gives seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it." Isaiah 55:10-11

So what do you tell people when they ask, "You don't really believe all that stuff in the Bible, do you?" Of all the arguments you can use to defend your conviction, here's one no one can deny. "I believe the Bible because it accomplishes God's purpose in my life."

Like God says in Isaiah 55:11, "[My Word] shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it."

Have you ever felt totally convicted as you sat under the teaching of God's Word? Has the Spirit of God ever used His Word like a knife, pointing out your specific thoughts and motives? I could tell you about times God's Word has worked me over. On the flip side, has the Bible ever delivered a peace that transcends understanding? Has it strengthened you as it has me?

I wish you could see what I see from the front of my church every weekend as I teach God's Word. I look across the faces of people gripped by God's eternal truth. Tears stream down their cheeks. Some can hardly look up because they're under the convicting power of the Holy Spirit. Hear this - God's Word is always effective in doing the job that He intended it to do.

I am convinced beyond any doubt that the Bible is divinely inspired in its totality, inerrant in doctrine, infallible in authority, immeasurable in influence, personal in application, regenerative in power, diverse in its unity, and infinitely trustworthy. This reality not only compels me to celebrate it, but to obey it. Why? Because I've experienced it.

Starting today, make a greater personal investment in God's Word. You've got the time - just set your priorities. Make it the passion of your life to discover what it means to delight in the law of the Lord (Psalm 119:77).

And the next time someone asks you, "do you believe the Bible?" proclaim your confidence in God and the book He has written by answering, "I am glad you asked. . . ."

Thought of the Day

"God's Word generates life, creates faith, produces change, frightens the devil, causes miracles, heals hurts, builds character, transforms the circumstances, imparts joy, overcomes adversity, defeats temptation, infuses hope, releases power, cleanses our minds, brings things into being, and guarantees our future forever."

- Rick Warren

Good morning everyone, slept like a log for 4 hours now wide awake and here just before 3AM. Wonder if I am getting a cold, been sneezing and emptied 1 box of tissues already.

JOAN  the geemogotchees are going on today, just 34° now and will be colder yet before dawn. Bet my son will tell me it was into the 20's at his house just 3 miles from me. He has a great thermometer and here all I have is what I have on the PC. Later when I turn on the TV it will be the  report from the official site at the airport in Warwick and that is near the ocean.

MARY ANN  2 years ago one son got me a kitchen clock that runs with a battery, days and date changes. Once he hung it up keeps great time but the day/date does not move. It did the week it laid on the table but not on the wall.

JUNE  there are clothes lines here that a few people do hang their clothes on. Wish I could but I cannot reach up to the lines anymore. Our 98 year old hung hers out till this year, and 1 man hangs his out and a couple other ladies do. I only had pickled watermelon rind once and it was quite good.

JACKIE  seems like a GP is no longer to be found here. What we get now are Internists who keep sending us to specialists. I do have a new doctor, a woman this time, but I will be seeing her NP-nurse practitioner. In some ways they are better than a doctor, take time to listen to us and they can also write prescriptions, at least in this state they can. This one is about 5 miles from where I live, not much traveling. It is great that you found a program to help you.

JEANNEP  the new doctor I will be seeing is the doctor of several of those living here and they all have said how good she is. Since we are all seniors here must mean she is OK with us.

LLOYD  you will keep on going until the good Lord calls you home. Feeling loved, wanted and needed is what we all need to feel.

JOAN  will enjoy an apple fritter. I like Food for Thought today. The quote goes right along with it. Thank you for today's goodies.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  And a special "good morning, Joanie, to you.

I especially liked the quote this morning and I've copied it to hang with others that I've hung to remind me how things are. I've even looked up Rick Warren and so far, I like what I've read about him.

Right now it's 29º here.  I guess I better get started early enough to scrape my windshield this morning.  It's not likely to be melted by the time I leave for work.

Last night a friend and I went to an interfaith gathering on Faith and Fear.  It was organized by a member of my church and is sponsored by my church.  This session was led by a Unitarian minister.  She was very good and she ended the session by giving everyone a small stone to carry around for the week.  It represents our greatest fear which we had been asked to voice during the meeting.  There was another minister who was part of our small group and when she voiced her fear of ending life with some condition that would not let her know or remember her Lord she noted that part of her prayers contain the line...."Lord, if I forget you, hold onto me!"  I've made this line part of my prayers also.

This was a very interesting gathering and I'm looking forward to the next one next Tuesday.

Now I have to go get my rock from the dresser where I put it last night and then feed the doggies and myself.  Have a lovely day doing exactly what you wish.

Hi everyone on this Wednesday morning.  We are suppose to only get into the mid-70's this afternoon.  This should be a very enjoyable day as we will go out to celebrate Scott's 53rd birthday with a nice lunch at the Chop House Restaurant.  Even though he has to work tonight he wanted to go ahead with lunch and he said he just wanted to spend some time with us, which is appreciated.

I haven't decided whether I will go to the evening meal at the church or not.   I also plan on a quick trip to the pharmacy at Walmart to pick up a prescription and will do that as soon as they open.  My neighbor's talk on the JFK matter was very well received by the lunch group yesterday and a number of the folks came up to him to discuss it further.  So it will be a full time.

They apparently didn't get closed on the new house across the street yesterday and I have seen the builder over there this morning and now the painters have returned.  There must have been some delay.

Gloria, I guess I have been fortunate with the doctor's I have had as I never sensed that they didn't care about me or the problems I was seeing them for.  I think a lot of the doctors double or triple book.

Sandy, my neighbor does not agree with the Warren Report at all.  There were two further investigations into the matter conducted by special committees of Congress done later and he recommended a book entitled "Contract on America" that is based on the all of the testimony and evidence.  He is convinced that the assassination was planned and carried out by the Mafia.  I ordered the book from Amazon when I got home as it is available for $4 including shipping.

Mary Ann, when it gets into the 40's here I will be wearing my leather jacket.  The cold really bothers me.

June, the nice thing about your volunteering to spend a little time with those that need someone to care is that you both will be blessed by your efforts.  Just having someone take your hand and speak to you can mean a lot to brighten one's day.

Jackie, the Chiropractor has helped Pat a lot as she is certainly much better than when she started seeing him.  She is still suffering but it is better.  First thing in the mornings are difficult and getting in an out of the car is painful to her.  She just can't stand to be on her feet very much.

Gloria, I am shocked that you have outside clothes lines available where you now live.  It has been a long time since I have seen an outside clothes line.  I hope you will like your new doctor.

JaneS, your Interfaith meetings sounds interesting.  I had a boss give me a worry stone one time telling me I was worrying too much.  Another time one of our associate ministers came to the hospital to see me and give me a little plastic heart to remind me to let Christ bear my burdens involved with the surgery I was facing.  How many sessions will your meeting have?

Good Morning Everyone!

Well, a warm sunshiny day out and the wife just left headed to the dentist.  She has a tooth that is hurting.  She has had a bad year with her teeth.  Matter of fact she has used all her benefits up for the year so this visit is out of pocket.

Larry, interesting your friend thinks it was the Mafia.  And from what I have read the Mafia was upset with the Kennedy's because they delivered on the election and felt like they were not getting the pay back promised by Joe.  I remember the killing well, I was in Turkey a the time and one of our friends woke us with news in the wee hours of the morning and I turned on Voice of America, only news we could get, but they covered it completely.

Got the following email this morning and thought you all would appreciate it.  a little humor is always welcome, except there may be a grain of truth in some of this......... ;)

Oldie thoughts for fellow seniors

1. My goal for 2016 was to lose 10 pounds. Only 15 to go.

2. I ate salad for dinner. Mostly croutons & tomatoes. Really just one big round crouton covered with tomato sauce. And cheese. FINE, it was a pizza. I ate a pizza for dinner.

3. How to  prepare Tofu:
    a.  Throw it in the trash.
    b.  Grill some meat.

4. I just did a week's worth of cardio after walking into a spider web.

5. I don't mean to brag, but I finished my 14-day diet food in 3 hours and 20 minutes.

6. A recent study has found women who carry a little extra weight live longer than men who mention it.

7. Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

8. Senility has been a smooth transition for me.

9. Remember back when we were kids and every time it was below zero out they closed school? Me neither.

10. I may not be that funny or athletic or good looking or smart or talented... I forgot where I was going with this.

11. I love being over 60. I learn something new every day and forget 5 others.

12. A thief broke into my house last night. He started searching for money so I woke up and searched with him.

13. I think I'll just put an "Out of Order" sticker on my forehead and call it a day.

14. November 6, 2016 will be the end of Daylight Savings Time. Hope you don't forget to set your bathroom scale back 10 pounds on Saturday night.

15. Just remember, once you're over the hill you begin to pick up speed.

I think number 15 is the most true.

Have a great morning.

Good Morning dear Hearts and Gentle People..that's a song. :smitten:

I woke up with pains in my left shoulder, pondered a bit over what it could be, then decided it wasn't serious enough to worry about. A few minutes later..about six a.m. a gentle knock came on my door. My doctor told me yesterday she was ordering a blood test as my sodium count was down last time, so here was the vampire all set with her needle. She was quick and gentle, and soon on her way to the next victim. I lay and luxuriated over the life of a retiree at Rowntree Gardens and thanked God. Had a quick shower, then reheated some of yesterdays coffee and here I am. Now I have got to get off the computer and prepare for Gary's Bible Class that is due In an hour. See you later kids.

I also brought home bells with the evil eyes. People hang them on their doors. I have never hung mine.

HAL, my favorite is #3 and truly dislike tofu!

LARRY, there are to be 7 sessions of our Faith and Fear gatherings.  2 are at my Episcopal church, one at an Episcopal Church in a nearby town, 2 at the Unitarian Church, one at the American National Catholic Church, and one at Beth El Synagogue.  There are participants from many religions including some muslims, quakers, the above mentioned, and some that I did not hear they say.  When I decided to go, I thought I'd be there as a listener and learner only but participation came naturally.  And I already learned some things about myself.

And now, I think I'll turn on the TV and see if there is anything worth watching through my eyelids while I rest my eyes a bit. Please continue doing what you've been doing and don't forget to report it.  I might want to try it out.

Angel.  Now will you be back sleeping in your bedroom tonight. Have they not said anything about the stuff they sprayed with?. I would be a mess. Least little thing in a spray seems to get to me. Even hair spray.  Are you eating someplace else?

We are really having  a bad storm here at the Moment.  Went to a funeral at 1:30 today. Just managed to get home before it really got bad. Wasn't a big one as he was cremated and just a small service. Glad it wasn't one where I had to go to a Crematory. Seems the ones I have to attend always fall in the Winter when it is snowing, really cold. Always the saddest ones. But more and more seem to be cremations now.

Hal, re: Amy, you are right , we have to stay positive. And sharing our concerns in prayer sure helps to be positive.

Gary did a wonderful job of preaching the bible this morning. We are studying the book of Daniel, and he sure brings the characters to life, and is able to relate happenings from way back then to our lives today..even the politicians.

I got my list of people to visit at the Care facility, but was too tired to carry through with it today. Had a long lunch downstairs, then home to take a long nap. Got a call to pick up my prescriptions downstairs. Will start my nitroglycerine patch tomorrow. Also a new prescription for allergies. And so it goes. Time to think of something for supper now.

Jeanne, they will spray each floor 4 times in total so I remain on the couch and my items bagged, boxed or crated for the remainder if the month. They are now starting on the third floor. Other than a strong chemical order in the entire floor, I haven't noticed anything. Aerosols don't bother me as it is food chemicals that upset and close down my system.

The Lord Leads
by Denny Meyer

Many years ago I was blessed when someone gave me a little booklet entitled "The Tyranny of the Urgent". The premise of the book was that we need to learn to recognize the difference between that which is "urgent" and that which is "important".

The enemy likes to surround us with all sorts of urgent things to do. Many of these urgencies will even seem as if they are of the Kingdom. But there is only one thing that is important ---- sitting at the feet of our Lord.

Are you feeling driven to do something? Be careful. THE LORD LEADS, the devil drives.

Having owned a sheep ranch these past few years, I have had the opportunity to see this in practice. It is much easier and peaceful to have the flock follow you to a new pasture then it is to try to drive them there.

Not long ago I read an account of a tourist group in Israel. The tour guide, as their bus was rolling, told about the wonderful shepherds they have in Israel. He told how well they treat their flocks and the devotion of the flock to the master.

Not long after, as the bus was rolling again, they saw a man driving and beating a flock near the road. When asked about this scene the guide responded, "Oh, that is not the shepherd, that is the butcher."

If you honestly evaluate your ministry, are you driven to make it happen or is the Lord your shepherd and leading you where you belong?

Don't let the urgent swallow up the important!

What is important in my life? Getting before the Father in prayer, for when I work, I work, but when I pray, God works.

PRAYER: Father, life gets overwhelming at times and what I need to do then is just "stop" and wait on You. Please help me to know when this is so. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!

Luke 6:12 says: "Jesus went off to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God." NIV

Thought of the Day

"Someone asked me recently if I didn't think God was unfair, allowing me to have Parkinson's and other medical problems when I have tried to serve Him faithfully. I replied that I did not see it that way at all. Suffering is part of the human condition, and it comes to us all. The key is how we react to it, either turning away from God in anger and bitterness or growing closer to Him in trust and confidence."

Good morning everyone, I think I was asleep before 9 last night and here I am at 3 AM again. I did something different for me. Have any of you heard of Schwan? It is a food delivery service. They had all kind of frozen food, even meals. And NO preservatives.  Now I have a freezer full of things that look good. Will have at least one later today.  Know I have not been eating right because I cannot cook much any more.

JOAN  with this sudden freezing temperatures I sure do not want to be cold so geemogotchees were necessary yesterday and will be today, too.

JANE  it is 29° here now according to my PC. Sure glad I no longer have to go out early in the morning anymore. All those winters of starting the car to get it warm or clearing snow/ice off of it before heading to work. I love that line. I would like to add that to my prayers, too. The rock sounds like a worry stone.

LLOYD  seems no matter how hard we work and how careful we spend what we make there is never enough for anything we want.

JACKIE  I remember you talking about the young man who was mugged. Glad he is doing good now.

LARRY  I have had 2 good doctors over the years, one local in this town and long gone and the other sold hi practice and went to work for Blue Cross. He was the best, too. Hope this new one will be OK. Several in this building go to here and have heard others say she is great and caring. The one I just left at least never double booked. No matter what time my appointment I was never kept waiting and he would answer questions but he never helped. Always said “I will look into it.” and that was the end of it. I can imagine how Pat feels about not standing for long, I have not been able to do that for more than a year now. Where I was living my son had a pulley line in the back and I used to love hanging my clothes out.

HAL  we had a sunny day yesterday but far from being warm. Love your post. #9 I don't remember having snow days when I was a kid either. Now 3 inches of snow and they cancel school for the day.

JUNE  wow the vampire goes to you, how nice that is. You do not have to go there and maybe wait at least half an hour for your turn and by then you are starving.

JOAN  breakfast is the meal I love to have out.

GLORIA de  the wind is still pretty strong here, been that way since last Friday.

JANE  Faith and Fear sounds like a wonderful thing. My daughter tried getting her family and me to eat Tofu, no one would eat it, even her.

SHIRLEY  crazy all over. Last week we broke a record for the warmest October day and this week it is below freezing.

JOAN  waffles are a favorite of mine so will enjoy your breakfast choice today. Like the puns. Just copied The Lord Leads. Wonderful Billy Graham quote. Thank you for all today's goodies.

Like the rest of you I am worried about Amy, too.

Good Morning Everyfriend!

Oh Amy!  As glad as I am to see you back among us, I'm so sorry that your news is not good!  I will add more specific prayers for your hubby and ask God to keep him in His constant care.

I'm going to spend the day "putzing"!  Attention Joanie!  That word does not mean w**k so no demerits!  It just means attending to things that have been neglected and attending to them in an offhand manner.  In other words, if I decided to neglect them once more, so be it!  The only thing I'm obligated to do is pick up TLH after school and go to the library.  And that's FUN!

Have a lovely day, Everyfriend.  Do what gives you pleasure!

Good morning, Gloria.  I've heard of Schwan, but don't personally know anyone who buys from them.  I see their truck in here making deliveries.  I am sure you're glad you have those geemogotchees.  Thank you for the accolades about the items I posted.

Lloyd--Good morning.  I know you will be glad when that laundry room is totally completed.

Good morning, Amy.  I am sorry your news was not good.  I will pray that the chemo takes care of the cancer.  I am proof it works.  I had chemo and radiation for my lung cancer, and I have been "clean" now for 7 years.

Vanilla-Jackie--Good morning.  I often have coffee in the middle of the night.  You are right.  Parkinsons is another nasty disease.

Good morning, Janie.  OK-- will take your word for it that "putzing" is not w---.:)  Enjoy your time with TLH.

Good morning, Joan and all the friends.  The waffles and sausage sounds good.   Very hearty and tasty breakfast.

Gloria, I have been getting food from Schwans for almost a year now.  They started coming to our place and quite a few people started buying from them.  The amount of people has dropped off a little, but there are still a few who participate.

I don't buy a lot from them, as I don't have a lot of room in my freezer. I like their chicken pot pies, and the big black Bing cherries, the corn dogs  are a good quick  lunch, and I had their Tilapia fillets.  And, I have been getting the little pints of Jack Nickalas ice cream. They do not take up a lot of room. So far, I have been very happy with the things I have bought.   I hope you will be pleased with the items you bought.

Amy, sorry the news for your husband wasn't what you were looking for, and will keep both of you in my thoughts and prayers.  Glad it is in the early stages.  So many good treatments are available today.

Jackie, hope you are getting along better.  I know you are very concerned about your little doggie.

Jane, I will be doing just about the same things that you will be doing.  I have a bunch of papers that I need to go through and also get started on writing checks for the new month's bills.  That month sure comes around quick.  I just had to sign my lease for the coming year and my rent goes up a little bit each year, so I have to remember that.

It is a dark, dreary, misty morning here in Central Maryland.  Not quite as cold as yesterday morning, when it was down in the low 30's. I did push my thermostat up a little bit just to take the chill off.  Supposed to be a nice week end with temperatures warming up to the mid-60's.  Which will be nice !

Have a great day.

Joy

Good MOrning Everyone!

Amy, such bad news. But the good news, they do have treatments now that do cure and one thing you can count on, you have our prayers.
I thought you were going to get that undercoating a couple of days ago.  I didn't even know they still did undercoating.  But what do I know.

Seems we are getting a bunch of night owls in this group.  I am up so many times during the night that I wouldn't know what it is like to sleep a full night.

I need to get a move on.  Bible study and a snack this morning and the wife is still a little under the weather.  She wasn't feeling good at all last night.

My Gr. Grandson put another rock in his nose, he is autistic and his father read the riot act to the day care about the small pebbles they have that are accessible to the kids.   At any rate this time Dad was able to remove it, no doctor needed.

Thanks Joanie for the usual great start of my day.

Hi everyone on an overcast morning but no rain predicted.  I have a very light day planned today with only a quick stop at the Credit Union to cash a check and then will pick up my friend and we will go to coffee.  I won't be returning back downtown to attend the normal Wisdom group as the pastor is having some shoulder surgery this morning.  I have a couple of tasks I plan on doing in the kitchen and hopefully can take the rest of the day quietly and restfully.  Yesterday was as busy as I want.  We did take Scott out to a nice lunch, which we all enjoyed and then I did go to the Wednesday night dinner but ate very lightly as had finished a big lunch no too many hours before.

Hal, my neighbor brought over the book he mentioned for me to look at and I started reading it.  It is a very big book and I have ordered my own copy but it won't be here for a few days so will get started on the loaned copy.  I liked the humor you shared.

JaneS, thanks for the further information on your Faith and Fear gatherings.  I also don't care for tofu.

June, I did a correspondence Bible study on the book of Daniel several years ago and found it very interesting.  It sounds like you are all set to start your visits with other there when you feel up to it.

Joan, another winner with the "Food for Thought" today.  I have copied it and will put it in my Devotional materials folder to use probably the next time I bring a devotion to our Sunday School class.

Gloria, we have used Schwan foods in the past but had basically forgotten about them.  We always found the quality good and liked what we bought.  My folks also used them as they would deliver to the farm.  They have very good ice cream but don't ask me how I know that!  :)  I know I am going to have to help Pat more in the kitchen to avoid her having to stand too long as it brings on her severe pain.  I get tired but at least I don't generally ache from the standing.  She is starting to try to do a few things in the kitchen and that is a help.

Lloyd, the laundry room sounds like a nice addition to your home.  Having the laundry on the same floor as the living area is very helpful.

Amy, I join the others in hoping the chemo will assure that there is no spread of the problem and that the surgery got all of the bad cells.  Early detection is so important.  He will be in my prayers over these next months as he takes the treatments.  I feel that keeping a positive attitude during times like this is so important.

JaneS, I guess what I plan to do today falls in that category of "putzing".  I haven't heard that word for a long time.  Enjoy the library with TLH.

Joy, we have the same problem with limited storage for frozen items in our refrigerator freezer.

Good morning, Joy.  It's a dark day here, too, but no rain.  Glad to hear from someone who has used Schwan.  I think I will look into trying them.  I pay nearly all my bills online--write only a couple checks a month.

halkel--Good morning.  Sorry your wife is not feeling well.  Good thing your great grandson's father was able to remove the rock this time.  That place should remove all those tempting rocks.

Good morning, Larry.  Nice that you had an enjoyable birthday celebration with Scott.  I am glad you find some of the "stuff" I post useful.

Vanilla-Jackie--Too bad you couldn't go to Poundbury.  Thanks for the link.

Good Morning all, we are sort of Cloudy this morning, but I'm sure the sun will be out by noon.

Gloria, I too was asleep about nine p.m. but slept till six this morning. Yes, the Vampire always comes about six in the morning. I have had three blood tests taken while in my own bed, bright and early. They have found it works much better for them. It is an outside concern from a Lab, and they just travel on down the hallways, going where they are scheduled, then they send the result to our doctors. She had mine done, because my last one showed I was desperately low in blood sodium count, and that is when I was shipped off to the hospital for three days. They even did EKG's and chest Xray's in the same manner. That was when I first moved in. They want to be sure no one is bringing in anything contagious, so we remain in good condition.

Amy, you are such a loyal poster, it is not surprising you were so thoroughly missed. I felt it may be your husband and hoped it had not been a car accident. Our prayers will stay with you and your hubby for Good News.

Bis, Gosh it was surprising to read that is has been seven years since your awful trip to the hospital. God proves to us all the time how Great His Goodness is. It is a good thing it does not need words to tell God how thankful we are for his many Loving Acts..words can not express what is in our hearts. But God knows.

Joy, I never heard of Schwans out here on the West coast. How do you order from them? Mail, Computer, Phone ??????
I buy through the computer from a local major store out here. I am so glad you have this great way of shopping. I love it.

Hal, my prayers are with your son and his wife. Having an autistic child is a full time job,and you are so correct in insisting on the day care getting rid of the temptations to the little fellow.

Larry, yes I plan to go over at 10 this morning and start my visits, with God's guidance.  As just "me", I feel inadequate, but with God I will be open to what I am to do and say. Different strokes for different folks, as they say. Even if it is just holding a hand, saying a prayer, singing a song, reading, writing, whatever is needed.

Time to get on with the day, see you all later. June

Well, I don't know how Larry's "putzing" is going but I seem to have found some things that were missing and some space that has been covered.  I hesitate to admit it but part of the putzing included cleaning out the fridge and preparing some other items for the freezer.  And when I put the vacuum away, I turned it on and followed it, thereby finishing a job I started a couple days ago.  I seem to have finished several things this morning.  My grandmother would be so proud of me.  She used to tell me that if I finished everything I ever started, I'd get more done than anybody she knew.

Now I'm going to go get myself some lunch and doggies a snack, chase them out one more time in the rain and then snuggle under my favorite blanket and catch a few zzzzs.  Have fun, Everyfriend!

Oh, Amy, my heart just dropped to my toes seeing your report.  I am so sorry but will keep good thought since it was found so early.  My prayers will be with you both.

My sons turned up yesterday, one in the morning & the other after work and fixed all my problems with the computers/ Fitbit & my Yahoo mail.  Fitbit tells me I got 7 hours sleep so that is very good for me.

I do plan a few days away to MO for a family reunion so no internet for me during that time.  If I get brave I will look for Friends with my cell phone.... but wouldn't stake my life on getting in.   :crazy2:

Everyone behave, I'm not leaving today but afraid in the struggle to get 3 cats into the RV, the rest of my week will be chaos.  It is nice to now be able to put food in the RV freezer & frig days ahead since I have it plugged in to electricity here and will drive with the propane running the frig when not connected.  When I get into a campground I don't like to have to move, the cats & I eat & sleep, watch TV & they run from window to window to watch critters playing in the woods.

For all of you that "used to go camping", I wish everyone of you could join me, it would be such fun.  For those of you that never liked the idea of camping, you'd be surprised just how relaxing it is ... and was even before all the extras we travel with now.  It is a smiling world.... until the next problems with the RV.

Jackie.  What a beautiful Statue they Erected. The queen and Philip looking good. How I like seeing such crowds turning out for things like that
Looks like a nice town. I like the way that they have gone back to building home like that again. Places people can still afford.  Uses up a lot less land. Wonder if they are Council houses or Private owned.  I need to live in something like that now. Getting hard to keep up my place. Hard to get help as my Handy man. Yard man all getting into their 80s.  Had them for over 40 years.  I would also now like to be living in a Smaller Town or village again.

Jackie.  Yes, all those places you mention were my old stomping grounds. With short distances from me growing up.. But UK is about like me in the US now. Most friends and family are gone. It is just that I could travel so much more in UK. Better public transportation.  Would not try driving there anymore. Still can do it here.
My fathers side of family all Peak District. Beautiful area. I like the village that the remaining family live. Within short distance to the Lake District.  It has been 3 years now so maybe should get back in the Spring. Been very lucky in getting back so often. It is a expensive place to live now. Should have bought my Aunts cottage 3 years ago when she passed away. Spent half year in each place.

Amy, I had colon cancer in 2000. My two sisters also had it in the early part of this decade and my father in the early nineties. We all survived with no reoccurrence, so I hope it is the same with your husband! The right diet, positive attitude and trying to avoid stressing is key I believe.

Hi all, another day has slipped on by....they pass too quickly. I made two calls on Maria in the Care center. She is 85 years of age, and a darling. Like me, she loves where she lives and the people that care for her. It was a very rewarding visit. I went down before 10 o'clock and it was too busy at that time. They were still delivering meds, and getting patients dressed for the day, so I left early and came back at 10:30 and stayed till 11. Went to lunch, then on to Choir practice, home to rest and fell asleep and missed going to Balance and Mobility....Darn!!! I love that class, and the kids that lead it. They are so much fun.Well, what's done is done, no sense in rueing what can't be changed.

Amy, I can see it is important for you to have snow tires on your car. You certainly need to have safe transportation at this time. You are one strong, brave lady and I admire you more that words can say.

We had a beautiful day here in Stanton, some clouds some sun and nice tepid weather. I am glad to be back closer to the Pacific Ocean, and of course, closer to Gary and Dori. Tomorrow there will be a Harvest Hoe down....a first for me so it will be fun to attend. At Sunwest I had costumes for all the events, but alas, I left them behind when I moved here, so I will attend dressed "plain". I do wear Jeans almost daily, so that will be my Western "do".

Time to have some left-over supper, so off I go.

June,  if you go to "google" and type in "Schwans" their website will come up.  There is a place on their page where you can enter your zip code to see if they deliver in your area.  I do know that they are in the California area.   All their foods are frozen, so you would have to have some space in your freezer.  They have a big variety of all kinds of frozen foods and I have never had anything that I wasn't satisfied with. Some of their meat items are a little expensive, but the majority of their products are comparable to the prices in a nice grocery store.  I don't get a lot from them, as I don't have a big freezer.

Nice that you were able to spend some time with Maria, in the Care Center.  I know you will be a most welcome visitor to those shut-ins. You are such a sweet lady and makes everyone feel so good.  Sorry you missed your Balance and Mobility class.  Wish they had something like that where I live.

Have a good rest of the evening.

It is now 4.10am UK time, already gotten one cup of tea down me.....I awoke 3.45, got up for the loo, got back into bed, turned the table light out with the intentions of going back to sleep for another hour or two,..... then thought the kitchen light looks like its on, yes R was up and about letting our Benji out, back on went my table lamp as Benji came in to greet me, so I had to get up to keep him company..... so here I am, contemplating on my second cup of tea, then it will be back to trips to the loo time, Intermingled with sitting at the computer or playing 1 & a half hours of tv recorded Coronation Street....

Good morning, JACKIE.  I wish I could have a nice cup of tea with you right now.  This early morning risings are becoming the norm for you it seems.  Sure wish it wasn't as you need your rest.

We had dinner with our x neighbors tonight.  They are getting ready to head down to Arizona for the winter, so it was nice for us to get a good visit in.  They have not had the best year.....they have been misplaced after a fire in their condo last May and Bill was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer and has just finished his chemo and radiation.  They are being told they may not get back into their condo for 8 more months.

AMY, I am so sorry to read your news about DH. Please know that you both are in my prayers.

ANGELFACE, your family is blessed to all survive colon cancer.  Sure happy for you.  How is Farrah doing?

JUNE, nice to read the your new friend Maria enjoyed her time with you today.  Will you go see her again, or will you meet someone else?   What a rewarding visit I am sure you had.

SHIRLEY, safe travels for you and the kitties to and from your trip to MO.  Enjoy your visit there and I hope the fur balls cooperate and let you enjoy your time away.  It is just beautiful here in CO right now, and I sure wish you were headed west for any there visit.

I am having probl ms keeping my eyes open, so,will say GOODNIGHT to all.  Pleasant dreams.

Food For Thought

A Disciplined Harvest

By Joel Vande Werken
Scripture Reading: Hebrews 12:1-13

No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.
Hebrews 12:11
He sat in a wheelchair, his life suddenly changed in alarming ways. “Why do I have to go through this?” he asked, dis¬appointment hanging in the air.
Sometimes we think of such situations as punishment. We even look for connections between life’s disappointments and our sins. But struggles like this do not usually relate to punishment; they are just part of life in a broken world.
Dealing with them can involve discipline, however. And discipline, though it can be painful, will yield results.
It takes discipline to get up early and work all day to bring in a harvest. It takes discipline to work methodically down a row of trees to pick the good fruit and leave the bad behind when a deadline is looming.
Discipline combines instruction and warning. The word for “discipline” in Hebrews 12 suggests the kind of training needed to help a child grow. The words discipline and disciple share a common root. Sometimes discipleship as God’s children involves difficulty and correction too.
God’s goal is to make us like Christ, who suffered but also triumphed over sin and disappointment. Even in discipline, God loves his people and seeks to cultivate holiness in us for Jesus’ sake.
Father, help us to endure hardshipâ€"and discipline, when neededâ€"knowing that you love us. Thank you for Jesus’ example, and make us more like him. In his name, Amen.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  And a special good morning to you Joanie and to you also Lloyd.

The doggies have been out and have had their "cookie".  The are waiting for 7 a.m. to bug me for breakfast.

I liked the inspirational reading today.  I know that most of us have asked God at some time "Why me".  And it isn't punishment for our sins.  It just happens.  It's LIFE!

I'll be off to WM at 9 and then the rest of the day is mine.  I wonder how I'll spend those hours?  Maybe I'll collect the ingredients to make barbecue sauce.  I'm working on my last jar from last year right now.  That will involve a trip to the Amish Grocery store because their prices are the best.

I hope you all have a great day doing exactly what you love doing.

Good morning everyone
I woke with the hopes that the snow would be gone but that isn't so. I just shoveled off the garage apron with hope that the rest will melt on its own today. Warm breeze blowing and when the sun decides to get out of bed the snow may go.

Taking my van in to get snow tires on it this morning ..then home to clean.

Angleface, thank you ,I agree that one has to have the right attitude on this.

Jane, have a great day at work.

Jenny, thank you..

Joan , thank you for breakfast.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyone from the soaking rainy rocky coast of Maine.

Looks like it will be dryer later on today.

All is well here as Friday comes and goes.
Getting close to Election Day and I
would like to believe that all is right
with the world,  but of course, only
time will tell.

After Election day,  I am going to have
to rethink  what to do with all that
time that is now wasted on
"election stuff" ...   Also
in just a few days,  Erin will be
off into her new apartment.     :'(

So it is time for me to start
preparing  for new days and
new ways.
I  never sit too long contemplating
empty plans.  I guess that I will
first start by reorganizing,  again
and getting rid of all the food that
is here that I don't want to be here,
as it is all too tempting.   Erin will
take that with her.

I need to get some new authors to
add to my books on disc..
And am looking for suggestions.

Have a great day,  everyone ..

Good morning, Amy.  Hopefully the sun will melt that snow and you won't have to dance with the snow shovel anymore today.  Safe travel as you go to get the snow tires on your van.

Sandy--I am more than ready to have election day over with.  Your place must be the neatest one around with all the reorganizing you do.:)

Good morning everyone, warmer this morning and it is raining. Better than the snow they had yesterday about 30 miles from here.

LLOYD  you will get to the Sheetrock when you are able to. I slept most of the afternoon away yesterday, catching up on the sleepless night I had.

AMY  ao sorry the news about your DH was not good. You both are in my prayers.

JACKIE  you are so right about us waking early. I try to be a quiet as I can so as not to wake up the lady in the apartment below me. Seems like that is the time I will drop something and to me it sounds loud.

JANE  putzing is what one son says he does around his home on week ends. He has to be doing something all the time.

JOAN  I had one of the dinners last night and it was tasty and I could not finish all of it. They do have a big variety and really aren't that expensive. They even accept food stamps where I understand most places that deliver do not. I knew my DIL where I lived used to buy from them for several years. The man who delivered even put what I ordered into thhe freezer, I would have not been able to do that. Did not realize how much I had ordered. I still miss my fridge, had a lot more room inside than this one does. It is still running and I bought it in 1978. Back when GE made things to last.

JOY  I have a box of Schwans chicken pot pies but I will have to wait till my CNA gets here later to move the boxes around so I can get one out for my supper. I like that their food has no preservatives like what one finds in the markets. I did get some coconut shrimp that I am anxious to try.

HAL  the past week I have not slept good. Either I fall asleep early and wake a few hours later or am up half the night and fall asleep about the time Joan starts her morning post. Hope your wife starts feeling better PDQ.

LARRY  since it is almost impossible for me to cook anymore I thought I would try their meals, they have 11 different ones so should find a few I will enjoy. I can get groceries delivered but I will not buiy the frozen TV dinners because of all the preservatives they have. Schwans does not add any. Glad Pat is starting to feel better.

JUNE  I just went to Schwans.com  and it brought up the site. I do not want delivery every 2 weeks and told them I would rather order as needed. I know you will be wonderful visiting those you will see. Nothing like having someone visit and be as caring as you are.

SHIRLEY  enjoy your family reunion. I do wish I could join you camping. That was something I always enjoyed. Simple meals always tasted better when out in the fresh air all day. Watch that lead foot when driving that RV and be safe.

AMY  just heard on local news that over the border in Mass. Some roads were closed till they could get the plows/sanders out to clear the snow away.

JOAN  a mini muffin will hit the spot right now, just poured another cup of coffee. Oh boy Chuckles-can just picture #8 and #3, a lime green Gremlin, yikes. Food for Thought is another keeper. Thank you for all today's goodies.

AMY  hope the sun melts the snow so you do not have to shovel anymore.

Good morning, Gloria.  Glad you reported on your experience with Schwan.  I am going to try them.  I got an email the other day that select Walmarts (mine is one) now have online ordering of groceries, minimum order of $30, order ready one hour after placement.  The only trouble with that is that they don't deliver like my Publix/Shipt does.  You go and pick your order up and they load in the car.  So--I won't be using that service.

Hi everyone on this Friday morning.  Once again we will be in the low 80's this afternoon.  I really had an most enjoyable day yesterday as  wasn't rushed about anything.  I didn't have to leave coffee at a specific time yesterday, which was enjoyable.  Today may be very similar as the only thing on the schedule is a 10:45 appointment for Pat with the eye doctor.  We then plan on eating our main meal of the day out at lunchtime.  That will be it for today.  Last evening we watched the news and Wheel of Fortune and then turned off the TV and we both listened to our recorded books for the evening.

I am pretty certain the new home across the street was closed yesterday as the real estate sign has been moved out of the yard and late yesterday afternoon I saw a couple of vehicles across the street with things being unloaded from the back of one of the vehicles.  The outside lights were left on all night, which hadn't happened before.  I look forward to meeting our new neighbors.

Jackie, have you seen the Queen in person before?  she is pretty amazing to still be so active at her age and carrying on the many duties of her office.

Amy, we are like Joan in having no need for snow tires here in South Carolina although have lived many places where they were a winter necessity.

June, that low sodium could well explain why you were not feeling well at all.  I had the same problem several years ago that put me in the hospital overnight to build my sodium count back up.  I am sure glad they take such good care of you in your new home place.  I see you enjoyed your first day of visiting with those needing someone to visit them and have already made a new friend.

Gloria, I hope you will enjoy all of the Schwan's frozen dinners and food items you get.  I will have to look at the dinners they have as when I glanced at the page a little bit ago didn't really scroll through all of their choices.

JaneS, I assure you my "putzing" yesterday didn't include cleaning out the refrigerator other than discarding some fresh vegetables that were past their prime, chopped up some fresh onions and put in a tight sealed jar and shredded two pounds of cheese but that was easy as have a little appliance that does a great job of shredding it as long as it isn't too soft.  I did fix dinner last evening and the rest of the day was mainly just taking it easy.

Shirley, I hope you have a great family reunion and trip to Missouri.

Good morning, Larry.   We had many years of needing snow tires when we lived in Central NY.  Then when we lived in Arkansas, where there wasn't much snow, we bought all season tires.  I know you are anxious to meet your new neighbors.

Good morning....Rather dreary out this morning however, the sun is to shine here today and it will be in the upper 70's!

Thank you for our goodies today, JOAN.

AMY, I hope your plan for the snow to melt will happen as planned and getting the snow tires on the van will go smoothly.

We are having such warm weather here making us wonder just what to expect regarding our coming winter.  Yesterday it was 100 degrees in Phoenix!  The weather in general is rather CrAzY!

LARRY, how exciting fir the new owners of the home across the street.  I hope they enjoy many years of happiness there.

What did you do today, JACKIE.  I hope it was a good day for you.

I can not believe it is nearly Halloween!  Where has this year gone?

Have a wonderful day EVERYFRIEND!

Jenny

Good Morning all. I seem to be running late this morning. Slept till almost seven, then my housekeeper arrived, to change the linens and chat a bit. She will return to scour up my bathroom. I am fairly clean in my day to day living, so all this could be done every two weeks instead of weekly, but rules are rules, so I abide.

Jenny, I don't have any forward plans on my visits to the Care facility, I will take it day by day. I would like to eventually cover the complete list of people I was given, so that is what I will do..one at a time, unless someone needs visits more than others..it's all up to the Lord's guidance. I cannot push myself either, I want enough of me to go around.

Gloria, both you and I slept yesterday afternoon away. I am feeling sleepy already, and it is still morning. I'll have to drink up one of my Ensure drinks and hope that will rouse me up, and then get out and do some walking in the fresh air. We are having a "mostly cloudy" day today, so I'll dress warmly. And I had better get a move on before I doze off here on the computer.

Hello Everyfriend!

JUNE, you are such a sweetheart to give your time and your heart to those who need it.  I'm sure you will earn a few stars in your crown for doing that.

I don't see how anyone, no matter how they are registered, can take sides in this years election.  I've bitten my tongue to avoid speaking so many times that I think it is about 6 inches shorter.  I get indignant at some remark and I'm all ready to voice my opinion, not of the candidate but of the opinionated person who is speaking that I have to take a deep breath and tell myself, "It's politics and is it worth losing a friend?" So I keep my peace.  When someone says, "You can't possibly think about voting for him/her", I just keep my peace and say nothing.  If they pressure me, I tell them very politely, "My vote is my business."

There's a nasty senatorial campaign in PA and that's another one that's going to be difficult.

I hope you are all having a lovely day.  The sun is shining in PA, the birds are singing, I'm not watching politics on TV and I've had my lunch.  Altogether, it's a nice day.  I hope yours is, too.

Good afternoon,  Joan and all the Friday friends.

Joan,  I have been "putzing around" like Jane was.  Don't consider it work, but it is time consuming.  Going through a pile of magazines and catalogs scratching my name off so that I can put them in the recycling bin.  And, going through a pile of junk mail, tearing my address labels off and shredding them.  The rest go into the recycling bin.  A  very boring job, but a necessary one.

Gloria, I hope that you will like the Schwan's chicken pies.  I think they are good.  They do make a stop at my place every two weeks, but I don't order every week.  Maybe once a month or even every two months.  I place my order over the internet or you can call it in.  They don't have any kind of requirements as to how much you order, or how often you order.  Once in a while, the delivery man will call me when he is in the building, just to see if I want anything.  Some people here don't get anything until the actual day they come.  You do take a chance at them not having exactly what you want. They seem to be very accommodating.

Joan, I order some groceries from Walmart and they will deliver them to me.  I don't think my closest store has the pick-up plan.  I would still have a problem getting someone to pick it up for me.  I have also ordered groceries from the Amazon Prime Pantry.  if you spend $50, I think, it is free delivery.  Some of their things are larger sizes.  One time I didn't pay any attention to what size I was ordering and I wound up for a gallon of salsa.  I thought it was a good price so I just ordered it, not even paying any attention to how much was in it.  I did share some of it with my son.

I do get most of my paper products from Amazon, tho.  Saves me from having to lug toilet paper and paper towels in with my groceries.  I also get  shampoo and things like that from Amazon, also.  I pay for the Prime, so might as well make use of the free delivery.   Some groceries stores down in the Baltimore area have grocery delivery, but not up near me yet.  I would probably take advantage of that service.  I can't get any fresh produce or dairy products from any of the ones around me yet.

Need to get finished with my straightening up.

Hal, do you think that maybe the FBI is starting to catch onto what a lot of the public comments have suggested????  ;D

Have a wonderful afternoon.

Joy

Not to start another pointless debate, but don't you feel that the millions of taxpayer money, needlessly spent in the previous eight investigations showing no cause were enough? I am not a Hillary fan, but I am a fan of having politicians pay for their own political grandstanding. Often our Social Security is tapped for nothing more than schoolyard power plays.

Dear husband has had the ordeal of working on my laptop for five days (on and off) and it is back about 80%.  Whew.  Only 2 years young - these annoying things!

Schwans has a hockey arena in Minnesota and one grandson will be playing there - at times.  Tonight, we hope to get the televised game and have that set up nicely - thanks to Don again.

We keep on donating stuff from the house, another trunk filled today for Sal. Army.  then, we had a bagel at Panera and I got to learn how to use a new kiosk type of ordering - for fast service.  Slow service is alright with us - we bring our books & sip our coffee.

Lloyd:  Be careful on putting up ceiling sheetrock, that is heavy stuff.

Amy:  Hugs to you and hubby as you begin a medical procedure for him.  There is better news on recovery every day.

Record setting heat here today, since they began keeping records that is....  Dinosaurs walked the hills and valleys and they keep finding evidence so it was not a winter place during their lives.  Not to start any argument but a science show tells us that there were many climate changes eons ago - before man walked earth.  But - scientists don't always know everything.

A world series game is on tonight, I think - but hockey with the kids playing comes first.  I like to watch baseball but Don doesn't care - I did play baseball with two younger brothers a lot.  That was how I babysat them.  :)

I'm so happy to be back online.  take care everyone.

Time escapes me. I did go down for an early lunch at 11 o'clock, then on to the adjacent Lounge for a Hoedown program, which was wonderful. A young couple, married 12 years, and still in love, performed music and and dancing and singing for us. The place was jam-packed and we all went home happy and tired. I lay down for a short nap, which turned into close to two hours. My mind is still blurry...perhaps that is a natural state when one gets close to 92 years of age. Que Sera......

Carol, welcome home...it is good to have you back on line. I am really fortunate with my computer. My present iMac is 9 years old and still giving me daily service. It has minor act-ups now and then, and is a bit slow in starting up, but then so am I, so we are patient with one another.
Hope yours will behave for you now.

Good to see your post Carol.  I have been wondering if you and Don were still here in CO?  We still have not managed to get together.  Hope we can do something before you head south.  Guess you do not want to be in too big of rush as the temps are still on the higher side. Good that Don was able to get your computer going.

JOAN, we have the same situation here...gated senior community and in 12 years we have never had any little ones come here to trick or treat.  Since Dave's Family has been here we go to their house and pass out treats while they go out as a family to have fun with friends.  Works well for us.

JANE, biting the tongue is happing to me as well....seems that many wants to freely pass out there opinions!

Hope you all enjoy a nice evening!

Food For Thought

Nobody Needs Your Religion
(By Stan Buckley)

Nobody needs your religion. It's true. Nobody needs your religion. Nobody. And they never have. The people of Jesus' day did not need any more religion. There was plenty around but it wasn't what they needed. The blind and the deaf and the sinful and the leprous and the demon-possessed and the crippled and the prostitutes and the swindlers - the outcasts of society - did not need man's religion.

Becoming religious would not have given them sight or hearing or forgiveness or clean bodies or sanity or working legs or a new life or a second chance. If they had only become religious, they would have been merely blind people who were religious, deaf people who were religious, sinful people who were religious, leprous people who were religious, demon-possessed people who were religious, crippled people who were religious, prostitutes who were religious, swindlers who were religious.

They didn't need religion. They needed Jesus. They needed His presence and His power and His love. They needed Him. And when they experienced Him, everything changed.

How often today do we Christ-followers offer our religion to a hurting and hopeless world? We offer them our organization and our morals and our culture and our way of doing things. We offer them our traditions and our songs and our styles. We offer them our denominations and our organizational charts and our complexities and our list of religious things to do and to not do. And some of them accept our offer. But at the end of the day they are still blind and deaf and sinful and leprous and demon-possessed and crippled.

What if, instead of offering our religion, we offered them Jesus? What if we introduced them to the One who could give them sight and hearing and forgiveness? What if we introduced them to the One who could give them the abundant life today and eternal life that begins now and goes forever? It seems that the offer of Jesus would be so much more valuable, infinitely more valuable, than the offer of our religion: you know, our rules made by men; our organizations; our stones tied around the necks of lost and hopeless people.

And what if they embraced Jesus and after that we still refused to entangle them in our religion? What if, instead of trying to turn them into good religious people, we just kept teaching them about Jesus? What if we helped them to become not better religious people but better disciples of this Jesus?

What if this Jesus was the primary topic of conversation in our churches and our small groups and our Bible studies and all of our religious gatherings, both formal and informal? What if we talked more about this Jesus than we talked about our religion, our organizations, our denominations, our structures, our power struggles, who we are for and who we are against, and all the other things that, if we were finally honest, we would admit take up the vast majority of our time and our energy and our conversations, but have little or nothing to do with Jesus?

It's true. Nobody needs your religion. But they sure could use your Jesus.

Thought of the Day

“I have had the privilege of preaching the gospel on every continent in most of the countries of the world. And I have found that when I present the simple message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with authority, quoting the very Word of God - He takes that message and drives it supernaturally into the human heart."

Good Morning Everyfriend...and a special Good Morning to you, Joanie.  I'm up a bit early this morning because I was semi awake and realized that I'd been having some of those weird dreams that seem to haunt the early hours of the morning.  I decided to get up so they would not have a place to go.  It think they make me more tired that does a lack of sleep.

It's cold this morning...33º when I got up.  It's supposed to get up into the low 50s later today but I'm pretty sure we had freezing temps over nite.

The only item on my agenda today is a trip to the Amish store and that will be in the company of my daughter.  She's going to pick me up and we'll go together.  If the time is right when we finish, we might have lunch.  She's going to let me know this morning when she can go.  My day is open wide!

Good morning, Janie.  Bummer when you have those kind of dreams.  Enjoy your time with your daughter, and lunch,  too, if the timing is right.  It sounds like warm clothes are needed there.

Amy--Good morning.  At least you don't have to shovel liquid snow.:)

Good morning, Lloyd.  Maybe halkel isn't ready to visit yet.:)

Good Morning Everyone!

Lloyd I turn on the puter and then go do other things while it is loading up.  I saw where you tried calling.  I will try getting back with you later this morning, if you haven't decided to head to your shop.

Not too much planned here today.  clean the leaves off the patio and watch some football and that is about it.

Janie, wonder why the bad dreams.  I think all of us suffer from them sometimes.  I know I do and I used to blame sleeping pills and I quit them but still have them sometimes.

Joanie, enjoyed your "food" for the soul this morning.  They are once again telling us that we have rain in the forecast.  But as usual not a high percentage chance.

All my trees still have their leaves.  Guess they will come down when we have a blue norther come blasting through.

Coffee is ready, who wants a cup.

Hi everyone on a beautiful Saturday morning here in North Augusta.  We will once again be in the low 80's this afternoon.  Pat got up before I did this morning and prepared her own breakfast for the first time in almost 3 months.  It was a pleasant change.  I thought I was coming down with a cold last night as had a very stuffy head on one side but it seems to be back to normal this morning.

Yesterday morning turned into something of a mess when we got downtown for Pat's eye appointment the main street and numerous side streets around where the office was located had been blocked off to get ready for the Halloween festival and parade that is held each year downtown.  We like to never have found a way to get to the parking area for the medical office.  I finally found a way but had to deal with a lot of detoured traffic and narrow alleys.  We were late getting there but she was seen right away.  I was lucky that while I let Pat off at the door someone pulled out of a parking space just ahead of me as there were no other spots in the parking lot.  When we got through it was another struggle to get back to a side street where we could get "out of town".  From there we went to Ruby Tuesday's, which is not in the downtown area, and had a nice lunch.  The rest of the day was enjoyable and restful.

Nothing on tap today other than to watch some football.    I brought down her old computer for her to use from upstairs as her new one is totally unreliable.  I am in a quandary as to what to do but when I am sure it is not working right again, which is an intermittent problem, I will contact the warranty department of COSTCO again and see where that leads.

Joy, we buy a lot of things, including paper products, through the Amazon Prime and other online places. I know we will eventually buy groceries online, even if I have to drive to Walmart or the grocery store to pick them up.

June, to be able to use the same computer for nice years in this day and age is really something.  I have lost track of how many computers, both desktop and lap top I have bought in the last nine years.

Hal, our trees also haven't shed many leaves yet.

Good morning, halkel.  No rain in our forecast today or the whole week.  We do need it.  I'll have a cup of coffee with you.

Larry--Good morning.  GREAT that Pat was able to prepare her own breakfast.  What a fiasco you had getting Pat to her eye doctor appointment.  Bet you are glad your stuffy head didn't turn into a full blown cold.

Cathy's on her way to pick me up to go to the Amish store.  I love that place.

Hal, my dreams are not BAD, they're just weird.  For instance, my mother and my kids are the same age and sometimes so am I but sometimes I'm a teenager and my mother is as she was at that time.  My father and my grandmother are sometimes in them and they are the same as they were when I was a teenager and I can actually hear them talking sometimes.  It's nice to see them but weird how our ages do not correspond.  Sometimes there's a situation that I'd rather get out of but no matter how hard I try and who tries to help, nothing works.  They are not BAD situations.  I just want to move on.  I sometimes wonder what all this stuff means.

Gotta go grab my coat.  Cathy is never late!

Good morning everyone, I hated to get out of bed this morning. Knew I would not like it, it is a damp rainy day and boy did I know it as soon as I woke.

JOAN  I had a turkey /California mixed veggies last night. Very tasty and I could only eat half of it, will have the rest today. That is one I will order again. Real turkey, not the pressed junk they have in most TV dinners from the markets. With Schawns free delivery over $49.99. You can check online for all the different food they have. For me I am  more interested in the meals because it is so hard for me to really cook anything. I am anxious to try the coconut shrimp. Had my CNA open all the boxes to check them and I was surprised at how many are in the bag. I also have lasagna and that looks good, that will be another one I will get 2 meals from. Maybe I can start adding some of the weight I lost. Would love to get to at least 100 and out of the 80's. I was a teen last time I weighed that.

LARRY  I remember my FIL being put on a salt free diet and then being in the hospital where they gave him sodium IV. I think there is 11 meals but many other foods, too. I looked througn most of what they have last night and especially the desserts, especially the apple pie and the cheesecake. Lot of ice cream, too. I never had snow tires after I got a front drive car. 20 years of driving it in all weather and never a problem.

JENNY  really crazy weather all over. One week we broke a heat record and a week later we were freezing.

JUNE  like you I am not sloppy in my home and some days when my CNA is here there really is not much for her to do. Right now I am going through a big box of pictures and the ones I am getting rid of that have pictures of people she is shredding. If they are just scenes they get thrown away.  Now if she was a good cook I know what I would have her doing. She will read a recipe and then cook it but not following directions. 3 times I had to throw away tapioca pudding because she pays no attention. First time she set the timer to tell her it was done. Wrong, second time not cooked enough, third time she forgot to add the vanilla extract. No taste to that at all. I have been drinking Ensure about 4 years now but do not see where it has done anything for me. I tried Boost but did not like the taste.

HAL  I only hope that voters wake up to some of the things Hillary has done that she just brushes off.

JANE  one thing I have heard most of my life is -do not discuss politics or religion if you want to keep your friends. I have often been asked if I am a democrat or republican and I always say neither. This state is so democrat it might as well be a one party state.

JOY  I tear my name out of catalogs and shred them. I have been getting so many different ones from places I never heard of I do not even glance through them and my recycle sure adds up every week. I have talked to someone at Schwans about ordering as needed and time of delivery. First one was between 5 and 8. By that time of night I am not up to trying to fit things in the freezer. The delivery came at 7:55 but the man offfewred to put it in the freezer. Freezer is not that big but he did get every thing in. I told the person I talked to that I have seen their truck go by here in the afternoons so now will get deliveries between 2-5, much better. Was surprised that they even accept food stamps.  I do have the chicken pot pies but have not tried one yet. I am glad I did check them out online. Paper products and things that are bulky or heavy from the online delivery from the market I like. Other than that my CNA goes to the market for me. Fresh produce my son will get for me, he knows what I like and the market that has the best. He come here every week and he does not mind. If I have nothing for him to get he wants to know if I am sure because he will come anyway.

CAROL  my computer is not a year old and been back to the company twice for work. They even sent a tech here once. All we have to do is read past history to know that weather seems to go in cycles and repeats.

JOAN  oatmeal and blueberries for breakfast please. Great chuckles. Food for Thought is so true, another keeper and to share. Thank you for all today's goodies.

JANE  enjoy the time with your daughter.

AMY  with all you do it seems that your sewing is your relaxing time.

LLOYD  good morning.

HAL  if I dream I never remember any.

LARRY  grocery delivery is great for me because I cannot get out to the market anymore. Before I moved here I would make a list of what I wanted and my son would do the shopping for me. That is my younger son and he has always been the most helpful person I know. He has always been that way. My oldest son is still using a computer that was bought with XP on it.  His son was in college then and now keeps that computer working good for him.

Janie--Your dreams are strange.  Hope you find many good things to purchase at the Amish store.

Good morning, Gloria.  This next week I am going to try ordering from Schwan.  Like you, I need to gain weight.  If I could get to 100 lbs. I'd be happy.  I've been drinking two bottles of Extra Strength Ensure a day for about two years, and it doesn't seem to help.  I guess your CNA is NOT a cook.:)

My wife and I are looking at Schwans.  They have some good looking (pictures) of their meat and chicken pies.  But we couldn't figure out how big they were.  Will one of them feed two people?

I registered on their website and did a chat, but think chat person was in some faraway land.  Ironically she used the name "Hilary"..... ;D

Anyhow, any information you all can furnish about portion sizes would be appreciated.

Bis dear, Todays Food for Thought. I would like to have it imprinted in my brain. So very, very true and needed. Wars have been fought over "religions", and Jesus was left aside.

Janie, what a Blessing..spending time with your daughter. Enjoy every minute of your time together. Hugs.

Hal, I have had two cups already, I think that is enough for now. But thanks for the offer.

Larry, you need to invest in a Macintosh. Both my sons use them now. Sounds like you have a restful day coming up, so enjoy.

Gloria, that happened to me to, re: the salt. I still use it as I need it, I can feel a weakness if I need salt. It is the high blood pressure that keeps from having salt, and yet I was recently hospitalized for three days, receiving a Sodium through the veins. Weird.

Bis, I had dropped my weight to 106 pounds and the Ensure has me up to 111 pounds now…just one bottle a day.

Today I am going to visit a Karl Wong at the Care Center. I decided to start at the top of the list and work my way down . She gave me 10 different names. I skipped all of them yesterday…fell asleep and it was too late to go over when I woke up.10:30 is the best time to visit. Meds are handed out by then, and folks have been dressed and fed. Then or after 3 p.m. as they usually nap after lunch.

so…….Onward and Upward my friends…….

We're back and the groceries are all put away.  My best bargain today was eggs for 69 cents a doz. and a bag of Kraft mini marshmallows for 25 cents.  I also got a freebie of cooking sauce.  I got one before and it's really good.  You just brown the meat and then pour in the sauce and simmer it.

We didn't go to lunch because Cathy isn't feeling well.  She's waiting for a call back from her dr and hoping to get meds so she doesn't have to make it through Sunday in pain.  She looked like she was suffering.  Not a good day to go to lunch. I told her we didn't have to shop but she insisted that she needed things, too.

June--Glad to hear the Ensure has helped you put on a few pounds.  I hope port visit at the Care Center today went well.

Janie--Wow, that was a bargain for eggs and mini marshmallows.  Freebie for cooking sauce is the best bargain.

I went to visit my friends at the Care facility. Karl was watching a program in the activities room, and I didn't want to invade that, so when I passed Maria's room I saw she was still in bed, so I decided to see her again. She was happy I stopped by, and we discussed how fortunate we are to live in such a caring place. She was having a pain in her hip area, so I didn't stay long. She is a Catholic lady, so I asked God to help her feel better, held her hand and went on my way. I'm feeling  sort of weary myself, so decided to have meals at home today, and just enjoy more free time.

Jane, I am happy you had time with your daughter even tho it was a short visit, you were together for a bit. You sure got some bargains where you shopped. Eggs are still high out here, but we don't have the good Amish people either..darn.

I have a bunch of email piling up, so I'd better go check it out. I had another of those dumb "congratulations, you have been chosen..." phone calls. I just hang up very quickly.

I met a young couple when I lived in Sunwest Village, and we struck a lasting friendship. Her Mother and I shared a Birthday date. He was a Forest Ranger and they take a long trip each year. This time it was Yellow Stone Park, and he sends me pictures. He is a wonderful photographer, so I am seeing parts of the U.S. through their eyes that I would never see otherwise. I feel very fortunate to call them friends.

Good evening......boy this day sure did pass quickly.

I made beef soup in the Crocker and it sure tasted good for dinner.  Cleaned up the crockpot and now have a cake cooking in it...  The easy kind...fruit, cake mix and butter.  It won't be ready for another hour and it it is really smelling good.

JANE, I want to Walmart today and my check out lady was YOU....a very sweet and caring lady.  Got ready to make the cake tonight and realized I am missing one of the cake mixes I bought.  It is on my receipt, so it made it through the line...it was only a $, so not that big of a deal but I wanted it!  😡

LARRY, it sure is good to read that Pat seems to be improving daily.  So happy for her.  Bob has been watching college football most of the day....

GLORIA, I guess that CNA is not that big of a help regarding cooking if she isn't going to make things correctly.  It would make me awfully sad to have to pour out tapioca pudding!

JUNE, glad you got to visit again with Maria even if only for a few minutes. Too bad Karl was busy.....he doesn't know what he missed!😘

Missing you, JACKIE.  WHERE ARE YOU?

Thank you for our goodies today, JOAN.

PLEASANT DREAMS TO ALL,  Jenny

First of all JENNY, the next time you go to WM take that receipt with you.  Go to Customer Service and tell them that it didn't get into your bag but you paid for it.  If they are like our store, they have a record of it and they'll tell you to go get another one and they will give it to you.  To save time, you might even just go back and pick it up and take it with you to Customer Service and then you don't have to wait twice.  We have a book and any item that's left needs to be written in the book.  We don't keep food at CS but we ALWAYS replace left items.

Good night Everyfriend!  Sleep well and May God Bless us, every one!
