Amy--I am glad your husband was able to get through the MRI.  Now the wait to find out the results.  I hope you don't have to wait too long.

Jeanne Lee

This afternoon my next door neighbor took me food shopping and while I was in the market he did another little errand for me.  I figured on about an hour out of the house would just about empty the one "portable" cartridge.  But there was no way I could manage an hour.  I got the most urgent items on my list and called it quits for this outing.  Not only was my breathing rough but my legs began to want to collapse.  Fortunately my neighbor was parked with my handicap tag, right near the front door.  He saw how worn out I was and insisted I simply get into the car and he put the groceries into the car.  And then brought them all into the house.

So it looks like I'm going to have to find a way to have someone else do most of my food shopping.   Either that or I'm going to need to do some serious kind of exercising to increase my stamina.

OK, enough griping.  The reverse side of the coin is that it's a beautiful sunny day with almost no humidity and the next week will be even better with fall-like temperatures.  Once I caught my breath I could enjoy the very early color changes along the way back an forth to the store.

Jeanne Lee:  So nice that your neighbor was there to assist you.  It isn't a bad idea for you to have someone or the grocery store itself shop for you and deliver it.  We have that service for about $7 in our area - or free if we pick up the order by driving to the back of the store. May you find what works best for you.  Hugs

JaneS

I've been noticing some signs to the effect that my WM is doing shopping for pickup.  If I understand it correctly, the order is called in and someone does the shopping and when it's ready, they call the shopper and they load it into the car when they get there.  Anything perishable is kept refrigerated until the shopper is at the store.  I've filed this in the back of my mind just in case....

JEANNE LEE....
...as others have said, it was good you had your helpful neighbour with you, who was observant in noticing how worn out you were after your hour long trip......Like me now, I would never be able to get myself up and down  those supermarket isles like I once used to do, that would now be an impossibility......I am both lucky and thankful that R picks up any shopping I need when he does his twice weekly shops, other than that I have ordered from the weekly organic fruit and veg delivery box scheme, I am not tied into any weekly contracts, I can order or miss any weeks that I choose, or stop altogether....failing that, we still have one or two of the large supermarkets that home deliver to our areas, some of the other big supermarkets dont deliver to our area yet....Jeanne Lee, do you have these same choices? as it sure is a godsend for me.....Again we have a local dairy farm shop a short distance away from our parkhome site that if we run out of milk, R will drive out to get some...Of course now a car is a necessity as we are down in the valleys with no bus service for a few miles...not a very practical location...

AMY...
...I bet your hubby is now glad his MRI is all over with...now the waiting part begins....keeping my fingers crossed for a good result for him....Oh and I hope he rewarded himself when he got himself home.... I did...with a couple of cream cakes...

Jeanne Lee

No way to order and have delivered except non-perishables from either Walmart or Amazon.  A couple of the large supermarkets will take an order and get it ready for pickup but those stores are more than 20 miles away - not too bad for a friend or neighbor to pick up at this time of year but over the hills and around the curves covered with ice and snow during the winter....  I think I may be able to get someone from the Office for the Aging but I just hate to have someone else choosing things for me.  Ah well, one more learning experience.   :D

Jeanne Lee--Lucky your neighbor was with you to help with the shopping, loading and unloading.  Living in an area with treacherous winters adds to the problem.  I fill my portable tank from my large tank, and it lasts 4-6 hours depending on the setting.

Carol--Our Publix grocery has order and delivery.  If you purchase at least $35 delivery is free.  Otherwise it is $10.  Delivery is guaranteed within one hour of order placement.

Janie--I wonder if all Walmarts will eventually offer that service.

Vanilla-Jackie--You're lucky that some things you can order and have delivered and the rest you want "R" will pick up for you.

I guess its now my time for bed, 11.30 pm....seems now I go to bed a lot later than I used to do..maybe thats because I doze off so many times through the day....I find I often do some Sudoku's around the midnight hours before throwing down the book, pen and reading glasses and turning off the bedside lamp...Oh and I have often dozed off still holding pen and book and still with the lamp on, it wouldn't be the first...only to find a load of scribble over the page, as my hand drops still clutching the pen...

I will say goodnight and leave you all to party along without me....yes I know, " party " in our dreams...

Gloria de, I am so glad you have had a good time with your DIL She sounds like a very loving girl..like both of mine are. You amaze me at all you are capable of doing.  Keep it up girl !

Bis, Your Linda is so fortunate to have a husband that does not resent all her traveling. He respects her intelligence for sure. I had planned to just pass up all my obligations for this day, but as the time drew near for choir practice, I chased myself downstairs, and then went on to balance and exercise afterwards. Had a light lunch at home, and will have some left over defrosting for supper. Our choir master is such a delightful young man and he deals so kindly with all of us Sr. people.

Amy, I am so happy that your DH was able to finish out his testing today. I have never had one of those tests, but I did have a body scan at one time. This big round machine traveled slowly down my body..even grazed my nose in passing over. I don't remember what the test showed, or why it was even ordered. I would have been more educated if I had a computer at the time.

Jeanne Lee, I am thanking God that you have such a kind neighbor to care about your needs. So many people now cannot be bothered or shun any responsible tasks. As I understand your location, there are not as many places you can turn to for  assistance as in a big city or more metropolitan area, but I am sure there are some neighbors that would be happy to take on a paid responsibility of shopping and delivery to your home. I do hope so.

Time to finish up heating my supper. They were having some spareribs and sour kraut down stairs, and I was tempted, but the potatoes were sweet potatoes, and that turned me off completely. I always boiled red skin potatoes with that dinner.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it's off to bed I go. It's still early, but I am tired, and my housekeeper will be at my door at seven a.m., so I need to get some sleep in so I can be up and out of her way.

Have a good night my beloved friends and we will meet again on the morrow. Hugs, Love and Prayers, June.

In PA, sauerkraut is ALWAYS made with pork.  However, I used to throw in hot dogs the second day for the kids.  They loved them that way.

I'm off to Dreamland also.  May God Bless us, every one!

Jeanne Lee - I was pretty sure you can't get delivery where you are! Where I lived in Vermont the nearest grocery store was 20 miles away. A real supermarket was 30 miles.

See you all next week......Tomorrow we are flying north.  Sunday there will be a family reunion at my oldest daughter's house. I have warm clothes packed! Still having hot weather here but I've heard it will be much cooler there.

Hope you all stay well and have a good week!

Beverly, I'm hoping to find cooler weather in CO, need to try these RV tires & just too hot to go any other direction, packed some warm clothes & some summer types~  Actually just going to drive, hope to see the aspen in all their glory but don't plan to stay, hope the roadside stands are loaded with new harvest of fruits & veggies.  If the tires still have a problem when I get back this time you can-will hear me roar from coast to coast~  I have 2 reunions & a 100th birthday party for my mother's cousin, all in Oct. so I don't want any more sass out of this RV!!!

I'm making provisions if any of the cats give me trouble I'll leave the old one in the house... half of the house, & the other 2 outside & hope they all survive. Have several of the self feeders if another wild critter doesn't discover them.  I have all their gear in the RV but this time I'm not mickey-mousing around with them, I leave when it's light or else.  Not sure which day I will leave but hope to pick the best for a cool down.  Lots of driving to test but "it is what it is!"  Y'all behave while I can't get to a computer, okay, we are a wild bunch lately.

Smile for the DMV

When I went to get my driver's license renewed, our local motor-vehicle bureau was packed. The line inched along for almost an hour until the man ahead of me finally got his license.

He inspected his photo for a moment and commented to the clerk, "I was standing in line so long, I ended up looking pretty grouchy in this picture."

The clerk looked at his picture closely. "It's okay," he reassured the man: "That's how you're going to look when the cops pull you over anyway."

Food For Thought

Failure in the Pond

By Keith Mannes
Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 11:17-34

In the following directives I have no praise for you. . . .
1 Corinthians 11:17
Heroic as he was, there were times when my friend Ron slipped and fell. One Christmas Eve, he and Andy got drunk.
Months earlier, Andy had come to one of our church events slouching, reluctant, and angry. But when he walked in, as he put it, “God just wrapped me in a big ball of cotton.” He was changed by the transforming power of God. Andy became our big, comic, teddy bear.
At Christmastime, Ron was lonely, and since he and Andy had become good friends, Ron invited Andy to stop by on Christmas Eve. “Well,” Ron said, “I opened a bottle of wine. . .”â€"and then at some point in the early hours of Christmas morning Ron and Andy were standing knee-deep in a rural neighborhood pond, shooting off a pistol into the night sky. Later, Ron was horrified with himself. Andy was deeply ashamed.
Sanctification isn’t a once-and-done deal. It can have moments of shocking failure, times when we stumble and fallâ€"just as people did in the church at Corinth. Rich people were taking the best food for themselves and leaving only scraps for the poorer members. They were also drinking much more than a thimble-sized cup of wine for communion.
Yet Paul still called them “brothers and sisters.” A sanctified Christian knows that no matter how bad sin is, God isn’t going to quit on you. His forgiving grace is always there.
Lord, I’m sorry. Please forgive me. Help me to keep trusting in your faithful love. Thank you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Good Morning everyone.

I was talking to peter just now. He told me that thanks is in order , Beverly called him with a email telling him I was out of service with the internet. so thanks you are a sweet lady. I think i told you all I got the water line in proper place and drive smoothed out now to get some gravel crushed and spreed. I also got a lot of cleaning on the garage so Nancy can Park her car on the other side and we can walk all around it and even raise the tailgate. she is happier now. Have a great day.

JaneS

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm up but not sure if I'm "attem"  yet!  It's 55 degrees here heading for a high of only 84 this afternoon for a couple of hours.  We're supposed to have a little rain for a couple of hours this afternoon.

And there's really nothing else going on in my life today.  I'll be greeting customers at WM this morning and then I'll have to try to think of something to get into this afternoon....if I'm not too tired.

Enjoy your day Everyfriend.  Those who are travelling, keep safe.  Those who are staying home, enjoy your time.  Lloyd, don't work too hard.

Good morning everyone.

Nice rain here and I hope it keeps up all day. Not sure what is on for today other than tidy the house and pay my garage bill.

Shirley, enjoy your time away and safe travels to you. Behave?? Well yes, you know we will behave, just like you.. ;D

Lloyd, good to see you up and running in here.

Jane, how is Annie this morning?

Joan, thank you for breakfast.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning, Amy.  You're going to "tidy" up the house.  That like w---.:)

Joan..very little w... if I have a say in it. Just the necessities today.

Hi everyone on this cloudy Friday morning.  I am happy to start the day feeling much peppier than yesterday and am looking forward to a nice day at home.  I don't intend to get the car out of the garage today.  Yesterday was not a good day for me but I did get most of what I planned on doing accomplished.  If I hadn't made a commitment to my old friend to take him to coffee yesterday I probably would have stayed home.  However, he looks forward to Tuesday and Thursday's when he has a ride to coffee.  I did elect not to attend the Wisdom group at church and after I took him back to his retirement residence I did stop at Walmart and used the cart to get the few items I needed.  I came home and skipped lunch and went and laid down for about three hours, then got up and took Pat to her appointment and we decided to get a quick dinner out so stopped at Chick-fil-A.  I then went to bed about 7:30 and didn't get up this morning until about 7:30.  The housekeeper will be here later this morning and the yard was cared for yesterday afternoon.  I plan on making some chili, which we will probably have for our dinner this evening and maybe a couple of other things.  That is going to be it for today.

Joy, that party your son and DIL give each year sounds like fun but sure a lot of work.  Pot luck meals always seem to end up with a big variety of foods.

Gloria, all that talk about apple crumbles sure makes my mouth water.  We are staying away from sweet at our main meal as Pat doesn't want the sugar.  Of course, I find ways for some sweets in my diet.  I currently have some ginger snap cookies to go with my lunch and will often get some ice cream when I eat out, as I did last night at Chick-fil-A.

Joan, your Linda is just a year younger than my son, who will be 54 next month.  I agree with Jackie in wondering how did all these years go by so quickly since our children were little.

JaneS, think you might be overdoing the "unbirthdays and deducting years" if your children are about to pass you in age.  That could be embarrassing!! :)  Glad to see your Annie is better and wanting to eat.  Just last week our local Walmart started the service where you place your order online, select a time slot to pick it up, and then they will have it ready for you and all you have to do is sign to pay for it.  You do need to place at least a $30 order to receive this as a free service but that isn't hard to do.

Lloyd, my family has always had hot dogs with sauerkraut although the Polish sausage sounds good. I have never had it with pork but know that would also be tasty as JaneS indicates. I bet Nancy will appreciate having her car under cover during the winter months.

Shirley, I bet your cats will manage on their own although it will probably be a shock to them not having someone to order around.  :)  I hope you have a most enjoyable, safe and uneventful trip to Colorado when you decide to go.

June, as you can tell by the length of my posting today I am feeling back to normal.  I would not have done the Walmart shopping yesterday if no electric cart had been available.  Fortunately it was available.

deAngel, I believe Pat is doing better but still has a long ways to go.  She got her own breakfast yesterday and has been fixing her own lunches for awhile.  She just can't stand to be on her feet very long at a time.

Amy,  I find COSTCO will busy every time I go there.  I think it has to be with the fine quality of their products.  It is hard to get out of there without spending $100 or more as the quantities are so large.  We are using a good many of the Kirkland (house brand) products and find them very high quality.  We also like their meat and cheese.  Glad the MRI went well for your husband.

Gloria

Good morning everyone, hope everyone is fine and dandy on this first full day of autumn. Just heard we have a cold front on the way and will have showers late afternoon.

JOAN  gosh you have to wait more than a month for cooler temperatures. Glad we don't have to wait that long. At least last night the AC was off and just had the window fan going. Slept good. Some nights even with the AC running it is still too warm in here. Tomorrow is my younger son's 64th birthday.

JANE  no trouble highlighting a post. Use what you like. My oldest son retired this year and I remembered when I looked forward to hitting 65 and doing that. At that time I felt worn out. I don't know how you can still be in the work force. Gosh I should have put some apple crisp into the hidey hole.  Think I'll do that now, along with cool whip for topping it. It is good warm or cold. I had one of the small ones I made that I put some coconut on the topping before baking. Loved it. You got  TLH interested in the library at a young age, so wonder she still enjoys going there. I think those who don't read more than a newspaper miss out on a lot.

JOY  your son's yearly gathering is a lot like my older son and DIL have with her family at Christmas.  They used to gather at her brother's home every year but since her SIL is not feeling up to it anymore My son and DIL have it at their home now. It is a big group of at least 60 family members. I have been to several of them and I have known some of her family even before her and my son started dating when they were in high school. They all bring food, one sister makes the best desserts, I always have to save room for some.

GLORIA de  like you I love cranberry anything, besides that, they are good for us. We should be getting the fresh ones in the market soon. I always cook a few pounds and freeze them in small containers. I had some uncooked ones frozen and added to the crisp I made, yummy.

AMY  glad the MRI  went good this time. The noise is terrible, I know I had a hard time with it.

JEANNE  I am not on oxygen but is I am out for more than an hour or so I am ready to come home and lay down.  Being at my grandson's home Labor day wore me out and all I did was sit. Took almost a week to rest up from it. Glad I have my CNA who can go to the market for me and have an online place to shop for a bigger order.

JANE  that would be great for all the WM's to do. I know I could never make it through the new super WM stores.

JEANNE  at first ordering groceries for delivery I wondered if I would get just what I ordered, including the brands I like.  So far everything has been just what I ordered. It all comes from my favorite market.

JOAN on orders of $100 no charge under it is $6.95. They do have a special now and then for free delivery. I wait till there is a special to order.

JACKIE  lately I seldom get to sleep till midnight or later.

BEVERLY  have a safe trip, hope you get to see come beautiful foliage. I always wanted to go to Vermont in the fall. Only time I did get there was in the winter when every thing was white with snow.

SHIRLEY  hope that RV behaves this time.  You going alone this time? Cats can survive if they give you trouble. Have a safe trip.

JOAN  breakfast looks good so know it will be yummy. Chuckles is too true, That is the one place I always dreaded going to. Thank you for today's goodies.

LLOYD  glad you got the water line finished.

HAL   hope that wasn't your Texas team that got whipped by the Patriots last night, ever with a rookie playing. Nope not a fan, just heard it on the news.

LARRY  I love ginger snaps, I used to make them often, better than any bought ones. I usually have ice cream in the freezer and will have some when I want. When my daughter and SIL go to Costco they get there about the time the doors open in the morning. By the time they leave it starts getting crowded. Being so close to the border an lot from Mexico come over and shop there.

Good morning, Larry.  I am glad to hear you feel better today than you did yesterday.  It sounds like Pat is making progress, albeit slow.  It seems the older I get the faster time flies.

Gloria--Good morning.  I wish a cold front would come through here.  Thanks for putting the yummy apple crisp in the "hidey hole".  You have a fairly easy way to order groceries online.
