halkel--I know since I've lived here the temp has never gone that low nor have I seen any snow flurries--and IMO that's GOOD.

June--Nice that your got things worked out and your groceries will be delivered today.

Sandy--You sure do a good job of sticking to a healthy eating regimen.

Amy--Well--maybe I did a bit more than snicker.

Thanks Joan.

Like many of us older folks,
I do what I need to do to survive.
(And once a week I buy myself a
pint of "chocolate something"
ice cream, and splurge ! )

Sandy, it is interesting that you stay away from foods high in Vitamin K because I am taking a prescription pill for potassium.  I am on a blood thinner, Eliquis.

Mary Ann

JoanFL

Sandy--Do you buy the lactose free ice cream?

Mary Ann--Guess I don't have a potassium problem right now because my doctor hasn't told me to take a potassium pill.

When I was taking
Hydrochlorothiazide ( "water pill" (diuretic)),
I also took a potassium supplement.

But when they took me off the water
pill,  they stopped the potassium supplement.

Unfortunately,  the meds that I take
for cardiovascular issues,  require close
scrutiny in order to get them to
do their best work for me.

Which is the case for most people who
are prescription medications.

I feel blessed to live so near to
physicians  etc. who care for me.

Good morning from the Interior! I am late again as after that very long sleep, I can't seem to get back to a routine.

Farrah, in continuing her unusual cat behavior, has settled in on the table to watch the winter flocks gyrate in the wind. Now, every other cat I've known, would "chitter" at the birds from a window. Farrah comes to attention, her short stocky body tenses and she will intermittently growl.

When they get too close or perch on the balcony fence, she slinks off and peers out from my line of wooden steins on the window ledge about two feet off the floor. She has never meowed or made any usual cat sound but she is definitely in her mind, at least, an alpha cat.

Jackie, you and I probably have a sort of natural immunity to colds. Too bad it hasn't extended beyond that to other ills.

Larry, I had never heard a cat scream that way and the abrupt personality change really showed his grief and depression. The vet believes he might have died from it as no signs of other illnesses.

We had endured a wet and depressive time instead of a summer this year and totally expected the snow they were announcing for the past week or so. Instead, it has gotten warmer and the sun is out, even if the trees have lost their leaves. So I'm celebrating a time without rain or snow!

I'm due for a committee meeting and need to pick up a few things and drop off something else, but everything except the meeting will probably end up for Monday.

I have more classwork, so I'll probably stop back later.

Mary Ann

Sandy, I am taking that diuretic but I have not taken the potassium pill as long as I've taken the diuretic.  I feel if I can eat more green vegetables, I might not have to take it.  Maybe that is a foolish thought and I might have to take the potassium pill forever.  I often eat a salad when out for dinner, but when we eat at home, Tom's menus seldom include salads.  We do have green beans, asparagus or broccoli, but it has gotten that we don't eat at home as often as we did.

For all you golfers out there, this was an answer to a quiz, but you might enjoy the  bit of trivia.

"  While on the moon, Alan Shepard used a Wilson six-iron head attached to a lunar sample scoop handle to hit two golf balls, becoming the first and only person to play golf on the moon. Only a handful of people in NASA knew of Shepard's plan when, after an extended excursion on the lunar surface, he pulled out the club, and dropped two balls on the moon. Despite thick gloves and a stiff spacesuit which forced him to swing the club with one hand, Shepard struck two golf balls; driving the second, as he jokingly put it, "miles and miles and miles." Since Shepard’s famous shot, no other astronaut has attempted to hit a ball off the moon."

JoanFL

Angelface--I think Farrah gives you lots of enjoyment.  Thank you for the trivia.

Mary Ann--Do you ever tire of eating out?

Nuts - I had a good start on a message and POOF it disappeared.

Joan, I eat out for the company, never alone.  I work myself around others schedules.  Tomorrow Dot and I will eat out after church, probably both of us getting a burger.  Tom is gone tonight so I made myself a cheese and pickle sandwich.  I wish we had a good seafood restaurant near us but it probably wouldn't do any good because Tom doesn't like fish - and he is my transportation.  So I don't dare get tired of eating out.  I will say we do not eat at any fancy restaurant and we  usually eat out around the lunch hour, not later.

June Drabek

My groceries were delivered and put away, and it wore me out..just that little bit of work. So I have been at home all day long, and tho one of my entertainers will be downstairs tonight, I may skip the entertainment.

My doctor wants me to wear a nitro patch now, instead of taking the pills. She called Gary and explained it all to him, since I said  NO, I did not want more meds. I misunderstood the patch would be a replacement not another presciption. The patch allows a slow time release, where the pill is absorbed instantly....as I understand it. So I will go down tomorrow to our clinic and put it in their hands. They will contact my doctor and she will O.K. their ordering the patch.l

Our entertainment will start in another half hour. I am tempted to dress and go down. I'll let you know. ???
As long as we are here, let's dance.

I did dress and go down for the program. George Rossi is a very popular entertainer here. He did not play Pretty Woman tonight, so I did not find my self dancing. He does invite us to sing along on some songs and that is always fun. I came home and ate some cereal and a banana...had not eaten supper yet, so it tasted good.

O.K.,that's it for today. I'm going to brush my teeth, wash my face and go to bed and read.  I wish you Peace, Love, health, and God's Blessings.
As long as we are here, let's dance.
