Raining in My Heart
Buddy Holly
The sun is out, the sky is blue
There's not a cloud to spoil the view
But it's raining, raining in my heart
The weather man says clear today
He doesn't know you've gone away
And it's raining, raining in my heart
Oh, misery, misery
What's gonna become of me?
I tell my blues they mustn't show
But soon these tears are bound to flow
'Cause it's raining, raining in my heart
But it's raining, raining in my heart
And it's raining, raining in my heart
Oh, misery, misery
What's gonna become of me?
I tell my blues they mustn't show
But soon these tears are bound to flow
'Cause it's raining, raining in my heart
"If you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams, and you will always look lovely."
Roald Dahl
The Beat of My Drum
When I was a lad and I played in the park
And I dreamed of the days yet to come,
My head I held high and I learned not to cry
As I skipped to the beat of my drum.
Then time galloped on and I went off to war
And I prayed for the peace that must come;
My flag I flew high and I dared never cry
As I marched to the beat of my drum.
And when I returned with the world all aglow,
Then I longed for delights slow to come;
With my head in the sky I forgot how to cry
As I danced to the beat of my drum.
But now it is late and the shadows grow long
And I ponder the end soon to come;
When it's time for goodbye, do you think I may cry,
While I still hear the beat of my drum?

Ah yes, the unforgettable Mae West, the quips that she came out with, very risqué...your one above Bubble, is a new one on me... ;D
One of her most famous is - was..." come up and see me sometime "
Good morning...
Starting out at 42° this morning.. we had rain off and on yesterday along with a power outage.
Kyle can remove the holter this morning, that will make him happy. Heading into town to pick up a few groceries and at some point in time deliver the holter and a quilt.
If/when the potatoe plants are dry I will dig them to can.
Bubble thank you for the new beginings. My friend used to say he was bilingual...English and Obscene. He was an old war vet and told it like it was.
Better get ready, can't go to town in my nightwear!!
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good morning all.
Amy, I'll carry on the conversation from before Bubble changed to a new room........I only had to cut corn off of two cobs so it was easier and quicker than trying to find my old angel food pan......things seem to get lost in my cupboards and disappear for years. )-(
Jane, I love having Papa Spuds in my area. The produce is always fresh and it is delivered right to my door. Of course, there is a price to pay.......isn't there always?
Amy, I had to wear the Holter for 30 days. It drove me crazy! After about 22 or 23 days it came off in the shower. When I called my doctor she said just send it in...we probably have enough information. So, I know from experience how glad Kyle is to get rid of that thing! ;D
Take care, All.
:snowball: :snowman: :welcome: Bring on WINTER! Another hot and dry day here so I've got sprinklers going in the front to keep the trees from dropping leaves early and already hand watered the big pots in the berm and circle garden in the pool concrete area. Time to eat breakfast & thinking lunch sounds better.
Thanks for the new home place, Bubble, always enjoy the text you find to share & am impressed with the graphics (old or new stuff).
Long week end ahead so ENJOY!
Phyllis, the holter is off and poor Kyle had to sit while I "unstuck" the tape on his hairy chest!!! He said now I will freeze this winter! :2funny:
I do think they should come up with a better method of adhearing the holter to you. As one gets old ,their skin is thinner and tears easy. Thankfully that did not happen. I can't imagine what you went through for that length of time!
Good Mid Morning I slept in again this morning just up for ten minutis. sun is bright and sunny here now 67º @10;10 AM. Have a good day. our deaughter is up and gone next oor teaching the great grands, she home schools the she is teacher qualified. our deaughter and grand deaughter are both school teachers. see you al later' I had my eyes tested yesterday. they charged me $125 eah eye. suposed to get new glases in about 14 days in the mail.that is good cost's lot of $$$ to drive up to VA.

Good September morning from the Interior. At 7:56 AM, it's only fifty degrees and continuing the wet rain from August. The weather report says rain and drizzle all day. No leaves are turning yet, but we should see some this month as temperatures continue to cool.
I've only a month to go before all reports, inspections, and season-ending paperwork are finished for here and state and city.
We've just been declared a drought area and have been asked to conserve water as much as possible! Today has been a cooler day...sunshiny but not as hot as usual. September has put it's foot down!
I was up at 5:30 this morning and since Cooper was coming until just before 11 a.m. I got started on the spaghetti sauce. About an hour ago, I emptied the second canner for a total of 13 jars! It's been a good day! And I'm very tired. I think I'll hit the sofa and let my eyes do what they feel like doing and let my bones and muscles relax!
Every since Cooper got here just before 11, he's been out in the yard. When I go look for him, he's just lying there in the shade, taking in the cool air. He loves being able to be out! Frankie has to work until 8:30 tonight and then be back in at 7 in the morning. She's considering leaving Cooper here overnight and just going home and getting some sleep. I think that makes sense.
I hope you are all having a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
Jane, you have more than earned a time to put your feet up!! All this will be tasty coming winter.
I did dig a few hills of potatoes but decided to let them grow a bit more. I have beets and carrot to deal with until then.
Oh, Amy, when we lived out west of town & had a big garden I used to take my fingers to dig into one of the potato hills & feel around for a few big enough to put with some green beans & onions to go with whatever kind of meat & salad for the evening meal... SO GOOD! All I canned was memories. ;)
Glad to see a few lower notes in the fall songs. Even though the stores are full of Halloween stuff (that is a long way off). I've spent most of my life here in the mid-west where we might have to wear winter coats over Halloween costumes for "trick or treat" & track through ice & snow, OR it could be extremely hot. The hot years were welcome when we were teenagers because one of the girls alway had an "Open House" party in their big garage out behind the house, had huge courtyard to park cars & bigger than double garage so they brought in hay bales to put around the dance floor part to sit on. I never learned to like cider but the parents furnished all kinds of soft drinks & snacks. Great memories.
Good morning
Holiday weekend and highways will be jam packed. Thankfully we don't have to go anywhere!
Just working around home ,may pull the rest of the beets and get them out of the way.
Shirley, that has been done. I love the little ones , just brush them clean in the water then boil them up with their jackets on. Just need butter and
I can make a meal of just potatoes.
Weather has decided to be nice, no swealtering days and cooler mornings now.
Leaves are starting to blush with colour and soon they will all be wearing their fall gowns.
Better get out of my gown and into working clothes.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning everyfriend! I'm up and attem on a cold 54º morning. Cooper has had his breakfast and is ready for his morning walk. In fact, he's parked right beside the door! I guess I better take him before I do anything else. Have a good day!
Good Morning again everyone. well I had a nice post made and hit post and the grimlans got it. so here we go again. I went to
va to the eye doctor the other day got my eyes checked , and cost $125 each eye to test and $425 to have them with phota graey put on them, used to be free. but with it dose away with having to carrei a second pair. the older I get the more compcaliated Life seams to get. Life is no fun for me . have a good day just as you like it if you can.

:cup:
Good Morning. This is the first day all week I haven't had to be anywhere or someone was coming here at a certain time. So I'm planning a "leisurely" day!!!!
JaneS and Amy,your "leisurely" days sound very busy to me!!!
Shirley, we've been getting the rain you would like to have. Most of it has been heavy but "gentle" and is supposed to be lessening the drought conditions we've dealt with all summer.
However, last Sunday night, it was quite stormy with downed power poles and other wind damage. Fortunately, my area only got the rain.
:hello: , Lloyd.
Peek-a-boo, Patricia. ;)
Nothing to report on The Grands other than that they're all busy pursuing their careers. Well, we do have two "Significant Others" now - both of who fit into the family very well. Remains to be seen if anything becomes "permanent' - whatever that means these days!
I'm not quite ready for football season to start. All My Children's Oklahoma State Cowboys won their game last night. My Oklahoma University Sooners have their first game tomorrow.
Enjoy your day, Everyfriend.
Hello everyone, from the Interior; or as my favorite Italian YouTuber says, "Hello Everywhere!"
We have heavy fog today. I cannot remember fog such as this, but it's obviously possible.
Time to wish Everyfriend Good Night! I'm off to the haystack and I'm more tired than I should be because this was supposed to be a "do-nothing" day! The major thing that got done was cleaning up a lot of paper work and that always wears me out. I never did like paper work!
I did make a decent dinner (haddock filets, scalloped potatoes and fresh corn off the shelf). I have 3 freezer dinners and 1 and 1/2 more meals to just eat!
Callie, so nice to see you and I think you might be right! Even on my day off. I'm not exactly idle! But I do try. In addition to cooking a decent meal, I did some knitting and cleanup some paper work. I guess that's not exactly idle.
Now I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. And may God bless us, every one!
Woops... lost MY post & I hadn't tried to post it yet, just vanished & no "back tab". Been a super busy day & I am worn out. Sun came out & was boiling... more like simmering. I am beyond tired so will stop to visit more tomorrow. Wishing all sweet dreams and God Bless, peace in your hearts and gentleness in your thoughts. But if anyone gives you sass, sock 'em in the nose & smile with a "sorry about that" as you walk away. :D
Good morning..
Going to be a humid day, not impressed with that. We have to take the garbage away and if our friends are home go se how the building of their new home is coming along.
Talked with neibour about missing cock a doodle do in the day and he said Horatio is now cock a doodle soup. :( He said in about 5 weeks there will be another one trying out his lungs with sound.
Jane, that is a prfect dinner to me...all my favourite foods. I love fish as long as you cook the wiggle out of it. I have passed on the information on Rescue Remedy to a lot of olks ,even bought one for a friend to try with their dog.
Shirley, I used to walk away but now in my "wiser" years they get it back and as my friend would say in box car letters!
I woke to the sound of geese going over.......next was a murder....a murder of crows that is and they brought company. They are better than an alarm clock!
Better scoot.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning everyone. It Is 65º and cloudy here this morning, earlier Nancy said it was raining Light when she got up, she gets up earley every day. I go to bed late and sleep in late, I have been oponly 1/2 hour. not ate morning meal yet either. Have taken and sent of to VA my vitials, via sadilight. verry neet tester , it talks to you and telles you what to do next. boy they have thined out now but we had dozens of robbins in our front yard i do not see any at the moment.but two. I love setting here and watching the birds. Nancy Has flour's planted all around the front of the house. it is amazing to set here and watch the humming birds gathet the necter from them. they stay flying and circle arlund the blossem gathering the necter. we also have a nest of barn swallows in the inteway of the house and they fly in and out. and while back I seen one of them catch a bug in flight. It is good what god provides for our enjoyment. have a good day see you later.
Lloyd
Good Morning Everyfriend! We're having a typical, early Fall day today...yesterday, too. It was cold and misty when I woke up and now has begun to warm up a bit and the sun is peeking through! This is my kind of weather. It cools off at night!
AMY, there was NO wiggle in the haddock. They were buttered, seasoned and had cheese sprinkled on them and were baked in the oven the old-fashioned way! I'm going to enjoy all the meals that came from this one!
Cooper arrived late and had not had his morning walk or his breakfast! He enjoyed both and so did I. He tried to tell me there was something going on outside a bit ago but I looked and saw nothing. I did hear voices. My neighbor's son is visiting from Maryland. And the doggie up at the corner was tied out. He probably heard both. There's nothing wrong with his ears!
I took this morning off and played some word games on my computer but this afternoon will be spent in the bathrooms. They both need a good cleaning and that's the agenda for this afternoon. When I'm finished with that, I'll take out my knitting!
I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.
P.S. I heard geese yesterday. I bet they're gathering over on the pond. They usually begin about the time school starts.
I got caught, too, Jane, but not on word games. I made the mistake of turning on YouTube this morning while drinking my coffee and got fascinated watching an antique furniture restorer in Maine bring a beautiful old tall case clock back to life. I didn't get to breakfast until 10 o'clock and already it is time for lunch. I have messed up my whole day.
MAKE it a good day, Everyone!
PHYLLIS, I guess we've reached the point in life where "things" can wait until we're good and ready to do them. If my house is dirty when I leave it forever, will I care?
For all the work I had lined up today.......some got done. I did get the iciles pickles started in the syrup and I told Kyle if I try to do 3 batches in each pail to remind me NOT to.
Friends came by for a visit and we really enjoyed the time spent gabbing.
Jane, fish for supper tonight and I will cook the wiggle out of it.
Good Nigt and swet dream.
Lloyd
Time to say "Good Night, Everyfriend! It's been "one of those days"! Some stuff got done and some didn't. Tomorrow is another day!
AMY good you cooked the "wiggle" out of the fish. I had a rerun of last night's dinner and Frankie took one of the ones ready for the freezer home with her to have when she was ready. It's was just as good today as it was yesterday!
I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one!
P.S. My one and only niece, Suzi, and her daughter, Bethany both have Covid. Please say a prayer for them and for her other daughter, Bridget to not catch it too. It could have a worse effect on her than on others because of ongoing health problems. Thanks!
What was the saying June used to use...."the hurrier I go the behinder I get" or something like that? That seems to be how my world is going around the last couple years. Every time I try to catch up on a job I create another mess to deal with.
Hope everyone has a wonderful week end. Our church has a picnic every Labor Day with all foods & entertainment for all ages provided. A BIG happy family day.
Sweet dreams and God Bless All..... Prayers for Suzie & Beth, Jane. Love y'all.... Shirley
well it is !!:!6 and I can not get to sleep. I keep dreaming about things of far past, so I am going to turn the TV on Low and see if I can get a good moovie on to put me to sleep,
Lloyd
Good Morning Everyfriend! I've just had my breakfast in front of the computer and I'm finishing my first cup of coffee. It looks a tad misty outside and the temp is 69º heading for a high 84 today. Typical early Fall day, I'd say!
As soon as I finish here, I'll be off to the showers to get ready for church. I think Frankie said she has to be to work at 10 this morning. That means that Cooper will arrive just about the time I leave for church. He won't understand that but it works out in the end!
SHIRLEY, thanks for the prayers! Suzi is a schoolteacher but won't be there for the first weeks. Bethany graduated from college in June and had an interview for a job 2 weeks ago. She's supposed to begin training next week (I think) but that won't happen. I hope it doesn't affect the job!
I'm off to the showers in a few minutes. I wish Everyfriend a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.
By the way...SHIRLEY, that was the expression that June used. I identified with it because my Grandmother also used it and I told her that. Now I have memories of Gramma flooding my mind. I thank you for that because they're all GOOD memories!
:cup: :walkwhistle:
:anon: :cup: :cup: :cup: :happydance: :hello:
Good Mid morning. well I slept in again this morning. Nancy has gone to church and left me in bed asleep. I am going and watch the same preaching she setting , I am going to watch it live on line. see you all later
Lloyd
Time to stop for a minute. Van is wshed and waxed.really needed it!! Pickles are being done (boil juice) and will put back down in the basement. Gosh.it seems each trip they are getting heavier. Dog bedding is in the washer and not sure if I can hangit or rain will say.. :noway:
We did get a thunder storm last night but no rain with it. Today is overcast and it just may give us the rain.
Enjoy your day and stay safe..
Everyone must have been out having a good day today because no one was here all afternoon or evening! And here I am, ready for bed! I managed a very short nap this afternoon but Cooper decided it was time for his supper and he woke me up! And he was right! It was time for his supper! Frankie picked him up around 6:30 and we'd managed a nice walk before she got here.
Now I'm going to straighten up, turn off all the lights and hit the hay. I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one!
Good morning..
Sky is covered with a heavy blanket of cloud this morning.
Usual chores to do this morning..
Highway will be a can of worms with folks heading back home getting their kids ready go to school tomorrow.
Jane, dogs have a built in alarm ,these will tell you when it is meal time, treat time and bed time.
Enjoy your day and stay safe..

I'm up and attem this morning. I have the second load of wash in the washer and the first load in the dryer. When the first load finishes, I'll remake the bed with the clean sheets! I always enjoy a nice clean bed at night!
LLOYD, was your day starting out so much like AMY's that you just copied her post? That would be unusual with the great distance between you!
We have a nice, soft, gentle rain here this morning. And it's supposed to last most of the day. That's OK with me because I forgot to water last night and I have nowhere to go today...except maybe a couple walks with Cooper. He's not arriving until later this morning.
I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

I put some peach seeds in the deep freeze for six days, to give them the same effect that mother nature dose with wientter. I can set here and watch the bird in my front yard, right now there at least a dozen robbins hoping around picking up somnting in the grass fun to set here and watch them pick up somenthing in the grass. it is amazing whet god puts here for us to enjoy. it is cloudy and 64º here now. Nancy has a nice flower bed all across the front of both duplexs. quit often a humming bird flyes oround a blossem gathering the nectier.she also keeps a feeder for them on the back portch, it is fun to watch them dive bom each other and then go to the other side of the feeder and eat.just like little kids. we got a new hose and sprinkler head to watter the raised beds with. I put some peach seeds in the frizer to give them the same affect mother natuer dose with winter. I hope they grow and do good. our son in law did some and they did, he has peach apple and black wallnuth all growing in his yard. we have a neighbor that has a black wall nut tree In in her back yard she lets have the nuts in her back yard off Of it. Have a good day just like you like it,
Lloyd
Good morning. Jane, there is a bit of distance between Amy and me, yet I find our weather often the same. Sometimes I wonder if we're at opposite ends of longitude and latitude. It's cloudy here, and we had a small rain earlier.
I had some shopping yesterday afternoon with friends, a quick trip to pay some bills, and then home. Today will be the second of four-part maintenance, where I will spend the afternoon away and then plan my grocery list and chart what bills need to be reserved. Tomorrow, Amazon is due, and then another trip to town for another appointment.
Good afternoon, Everyfriend! I'm finished with all the laundry and it only took me 9 small or medium loads. The bed is all remade and clean from the mattress cover/pad to the bedspread! I even turned over the mattress. It was past time and with everything off, it happened...not easily but it happened! It always amazes me when I do something like that and it works.
PATRICIA, we've had a soft and gentle rain all day and it isn't supposed to end until sometime Wednesday. If it just stays gentle, I won't mind because we sure do need it! It's feels more like April than September out and that's fine with me, too.
Cooper had his last walk with me in the rain and his supper and he's ready for his Mommy to come home from work. I think she works until 6:30 so he has a little bit to wait.
I'm taking the evening off and watching a bit of TV...maybe with my knitting needles in my hands and maybe not! We shall see! Take it easy Everyfriend and enjoy the rest of your day!
JaneS I am not shure what you are talking about. but Nancy will not travel with me right now. And I am too far from each of you th give hugs, But if i were closer to you all I would give you allma hug as I arive and anotherr as I say goodby as I leave. we are at66º and clouddy. Have a rest of your day good I hope as you like it.
Ps I need to figure out how to have Apicyure of Nancy and me taken and posted here. my grand deaughter Is fine with me but no post of our kinship. talk to you all later.
Lloyd
Time to hit the haystack!
Sorry, LLOYD, I don't understand what I might have said that you referred to!
I added one more load of laundry to my day. I took the dog cover off the sofa and threw it in the laundry. Frankie is off tomorrow and I don't expect them to be here so it was the perfect time to do that! Now I'm heading for the bedroom and hopefully a good night's sleep.
I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one!
Good morning..
Starting out at 46° and sunny.
Busy day ahead, with chores , phone calls and a man conig to see what we need to change over to propane heat next year. Will bake some peach pies somewhere in between that.
Better move it... can't put an egg in my boot , used the egg in the pastry.. :2funny:
Enjoy your day and stay safe..
well I do not Know what Is going on with this Laptop,But it is not letting me in at a new spot, it is going through severial days In cluding, collies post of the little chicken https://www.seniorsandfriends.org/Smileys/alive/smitten.gif . It Is very foggie here this morining very lo visibilty and 65º and fog. I havea appointment at va and Nancy has a therpist comming so she can not go with me. and she has a grocery list for me to stop at sams club and get the two will take up most of my day. Have a good day.
Lloyd
Good Morning Everyfriend! It's still drizzling here and the grass and bushes are slurping it up. It's been a dry summer and they're really thirsty!
LLOYD, be careful and take your time. it'll all get done!
AMY, if you can't "put and egg in your boot" I guess you'll just have to "get a wiggle on"!
I'm taking the day off today until I have to get ready for a regular Dr. checkup at 5 this afternoon. Frankie has the day off so I don't even have Cooper although they might both stop by later. He needs a bath and she only has a shower at her apartment so they use my tub.
I'm going to go out and see if the paper came and then pour myself a cup of coffee and read the news and do the crossword and the word jumble. Then I might clean off my desk. It's under there somewhere!
I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.
Good morning from a cooler, cloudy day presently at 45 and only a high of 61. Not much going on here other than another quick trip to town and meeting a couple of friends on the lee side. I have two more successive maintenance issues on Mondays and one more building water shut-off, and I'm hoping that's it, at least for the winter.
Jane, I think the misunderstanding between you and Lloyd may have started with his inadvertently copying Amy's post; you remarking on it with, "LLOYD, was your day starting out so much like AMY's that you just copied her post? That would be unusual with the great distance between you!" I think those two posts, including Amy's phrase, "Highway will be a can of worms with folks heading back home getting their kids ready go to school tomorrow." furthered the confusion for both you and Lloyd.
Thanks for clearing that up, PATRICIA. You're probably right about it!
Jane, I guess the wiggle on is it. I used 2 more eggs in the 2 dozen butter tarts ,made a peach pie and a cinnamon roll. Syrup boiled again
for the pickles, then just sat down for a cuppa tea and folks came in to look and buy a trug. After they left I high tailed it to the neighbours to give Rex his pill and Callie a tummy rub.
I am going to do very little, wanted ot say do nothing but we all know how that goes.
Phone call from Dr with results from Kyles holter and tests were great! No change in meds , just carry on.
Now waiting on the propane fella......
well I went to VA and got Good newse. I am getting new glasses and new hearing aids both,, to be sent in the mail. If I had a smart phone, the could have hearing aids that would have hooked to it and had better controle, But I do not and have tried them in the past, but I was not smart enough to operate the smart phones, and cost me a hundred $ both times to turn them back in,so I just stay with my old flip phone. but my left eye is weeaker than the right one and the new glasses are going to come already adjusted to the deffrance. I should be like in a new wourld. see you all latter.
Lloyd
Well, this day is over and I can't say I'll miss it. It had it's good stuff to offer though! So I'll take it. My regular checkup at the Dr. brought good news. I'm healthy! He changed one prescription so I don't have to be running to the drug store every month. Now I can pick it up every 3 months! And I got another one to try to curb an ongoing problem. If it works...Hooray! If it doesn't...out it goes!
Now I'm off to the haystack! I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one!
well I is eleven 08 PM and I hit the wrong key and another post went into La La Land. If I think about what I was saynig again I will post it. ( part of was about my diying on the operating table and brought back to Life again) and that Is a tuue fact. when I was being operated on My back injory. they stuck the needeel in my spine and were letting the die fflow up my spine, when it hit the ruptcher where between L4 and L5 it looked like you had threw a egg on the wiendshield and it whent all drections, my heart litleary stopped beating, and they took those electiic paddles and shocked it back to beating. there were three docters standing around me one was holding the paddles and one was pushing on my chest In rithem and getting in tune. the first words I heard was one of them saying Lloyd come back and stay with us you are too young to go. see you all later.
Lloyd
Sweet dreams & God Bless All.... Same ole-same ole, keeping busy just spinning my wheels.
Summer is hanging on and the outside jobs haven't ended so I'm still whining. It is still 81 degrees outside so no fresh air yet. Other years it was always cool enough to have fresh air & a breeze to fall asleep to but not this year. But it is beddie by time so away I go!
Good morning...
We are off to the city to pick up quilts this morning and on our way back pick up our push lawnmower that a friend fixed for us. Just a quick trip in and home.
Jane, happy that you also got good news!! I am trying hard NOT to buy a bushel of tomatoes and do down..they are $30.00 and really nice. I have a few jars left from last year and think we will coast on them and then next year I will do the tomatoes.
Shirley, that was a short beddie time!! We are more than ready for cooler air here. Outside jobs will always be around, same with inside but in due time they will (maybe) get done.
Better get my duds on.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning Everyfriend! I'm up but I'm definitely not ATTEM yet. I didn't sleep very well last night and my arm hurts a bit where I got my flu shot. I guess that's normal but I'm supposed to get another shot and I'm trying to avoid having them in my left are. That's the one I broke and the one they took a blood vessel from to use in my face operation! I'd rather not have to baby it again. I doubt very much if they'll put another shot in my right arem and I'm not at all sure I want them to do that! I guess we'll see when I get there.
If I made mistakes in this typing, it's because I put the drops in my eyes and I can't really see what I'm doin on this screen. I think when you put in the stuff to post larger, it should show it to the typist larger too. But that's just my opinion and I guess I might be stuck with it!
I'm off to see what can be done this morning. I don't have Cooper today because Frankie's care is being inspected and she's depending on others for rides today. I miss him. I think maybe he brings me to life!
I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
I just reread my post and it sounds like I might be in a bad mood. I'm not. Just a bit ruffled this morning.
well It IT IS 806 am and clear skys/ sunny and not a cloud IN sight 67º now. I havent ate morning meal so better get at it. see you all later.
Lloyd
Well, I guess everyone who used to post in here is over at Norm's Bait and Tackle and since I can't post over there, there's not much use of coming here. Good night Everyfriend!
Why can't you post there & why not stay here?
I've been really swamped with "to-dos" this week & hoping for time out one of these days. Seems all I do is whine or grip about work & weather.
Jane, I know I've posted over in Norm's now & then, when something catches my eye... but a long time ago one of our fearless leaders suggested that "we not carry a conversation from one site to another" (or something like that)... at least that was how I took it, so I do comment where ever. Let's blame it on Covid, I really think it's a combo of Covid & the WEATHER. I'd like to run away from home for a week but no-can-do just yet. :-[ :'(
Got to eat a bite before heading to bed. Been a strange day. Sweet dreams and God Bless.
I know I've been swamped in administrative paperwork seemingly forever this summer. Plus, the water was shut off for eight hours today. The second time just this month! The building is undergoing inspections and maintenance, replacing some building washers and driers, and putting in new fences and cameras on my side of the building.
Then I saw a missed call from the apartment office, which I'll have to check tomorrow. I just haven't had much time to myself, and I think that's everyone right now.
I feel that Norm's B&T and the Soda Shop tend to have different discussion types, and I'm with Shirley; there's a place for both.
There has been so much going on that people are dealing with natural disasters, family issues, and whatnot, leading to little time to chat.
Good Morning Everyfriend! I don't really have a lot of time to spend visiting on the computer either but I really miss you all when I don't hear from you.
Cooper has arrived, had his breakfast and we tool a very productive walk. Now I need to go fill the bird feeder and clean out the bird bath and get ready to do some errands whenever Cathy is ready.
The weather out there feels like Fall and looks like it too. This is one of my favorite times of the year and I have to stay inside and do paper work. Drat!!!
SHIRLEY, I was once ORDERED not to interrupt a conversation on NB&T and that's what turned me off. I was new enough in here to take it personally and I haven't been able to turn it off! So I stay away!
I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.
Good morning...
Love starting out at 54° this morning but I am sure the temp will rise fast.
Nothing special going on today...just the usual work and if time permits sew the binding on the quilt to get ready for a new home.
Patricia, my time has been tied up with getting the garden off, pickles, canned or frozen but soon that shall be done.
Jane, enjoy your time with Cathy.....does it mean a trip to the market?
Jenny, where are you??
Better scoot
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
well good Mid morning. I slept in this morning again. It Is sunny 75º and clear. no clouds. i got my new glasses in the mail this morning. am supposed to get new hearing aids, that will talk to me by smart phone, whitch I do not have one. I tried one in the past but was not smart enough to operate it. I think I wiill see if VA will get me one, and have our deaughter give lessons on it. talk to you later.
Llod
:sleepy: :study: :kitten: :eat: :coffee: :computer:
LLOYD, Good luck with your phone and hearing aids. I wish I lived closer to my OK daughter. She's an expert on things like computer, phones and anything electronic. She's also a number one accountant that her Dallas office would not let leave them when she moved to OK. When I was there, if I had a question, she answered it!
Now I'm heading for the haystack! I had a Shingles shot today and I'm ready to sleep it off! I wish you all a peaceful night and a happy tomorrow, and may God bless us, every one.
And by the way WHERE IS EVERYONE?
I'm over here in the corner, just trying to keep out of the way.
and Janes I am with you I enjoy S & F, But better when there are more activity, even the loveing and tasing of everyone. I realey enjoyed it much better when we travled and had the bashes. Iwould get in the moterhome and go in a heartbeat if nancy would go with me. like I said life is not much fun any more, good night and sweet dreams. it is nice to have some $$$$ in edward jones. but we cant take it with us when god calls our #. so better spend it now rwther than leave it for children to fight over who needs it worse. Good night and sweet dreams.
Lloyd
not shure My post went in the propper place but i did post, see you all tomorrow.
Lloyd
Jane, I came in here first to offer my sympathy but didn't find Jackie had been so flew on over to Norm's and she did leave a message there.... so I responded to her there. I also had been a little offended with something said in that discussion but think I finally just took it as "they didn't mean how they sounded"... and while this spot is #1 for me, I do visit a couple other places (also Photos). I do think Covid has made a difference in what little we have to talk about... I lead a pretty narrow life.
Lloyd, my fear is making sure there's enough left to pay for nursing care if the body gives out. My worst nightmare is having to have any of my children physically take care of me if I'd have a stroke or such. Besides, in my will my 3 kids will share anything left over equally, no thought of need. If one worked harder & saved more they shouldn't be penalized for having done it.
Maybe Nancy would rather travel with you in a standard size car and stay in a motel, did you ask her? I happen to hate staying in motels and would rather sleep in a Walmart parking lot than in the best of motels. I'd rather be in a National Park campground or State Park where you don't hear someone snore in the next room or camp site... but no matter how nice looking a motel/hotel, they do not wash all the covers or carpet between people that stay in the rooms. My daughter doesn't want any part of camping and neither did her father so must compromise! I'd rather stay home that stay in a commercial campground, seriously.
I also won't stay with family because I grew up in Sedalia & every distant relative wanted to visit during Fair Week so Mother would be changing beds (we kids would sleep on the floor in one of the unused rooms), she would fix them breakfast before they headed to the Fair and something to eat when they came back after the 10:00pm fireworks. The last straw was when my father's sister came to visit and brought HER 2 grandaughters the week she was keeping them so Mom had to feed & haul them around all Fair Week.
Finally one of Mom's friends that owned a motel asked if Mother would consider renting a room to one of her regular customers that came with 4-kids but that year for some reason he couldn't stay at the grounds with the kids & hadn't made reservations. Mom said "Okay" & he became a regular after that and she was happy because she didn't have to cook for him! We all have our reasons for liking or not liking to do some things, right?
Bedtime... sweet dreams to all and God Bless.
Good Morning Everyfriend! Cooper has arrived and had his breakfast and is ready for his first walk of the day. It's foggy and chilly out there. A typical start to a typical Fall day.
SHIRLEY, I was NOT mistaken when the person in NBT told me to "Stay out of the converstation, there" I was called by name, twice and I was reminded. I was barely starting and it hurt. I got over it but I've never been comfortable even reading in there. And that's all there is to it!
And now for the good stuff! I didn't have any reaction to the shot yesterday...not even a sore spot on my arm! Amazing! I like that young lady who did it!
Today is a "think about what needs done" day! I have no real plans. My twins are 62 today. And tomorrow Cindy and her husband in OKLa. will have their birthday! We sure did jam them all together! On the 19th and 21st two of my grands have their birthdays! The oldest one will turn 40. It's hard to believe!
Have a GREAT day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.
Good morning..
Busy day here ,finally saying good bye to the icicle pickles. They should be all bottled today....6 batchs of them!! Will be looking after the critters next door to. :smitten:
Jane, oh my you have a lot of celebrating in Sept!!
I slept in so had better get a wiggle on and catch up with the day.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning everyone. JaneS I am sort of with you.I am a lover not a fighter, untill I have been pushed too hard, and then I can come out fighteing,so to speak, we have clear skye to day, and curently 59º,I sure enjoy my time here IN S & F's. the new hearing aids I am getting can be controled with a smart phone, but I have tried a smart phone twice and I was not smart enough to operate them properly, and cost me a $100.00 to turn them back each time. that is enough for me. I will just stick to my old track flip phone. I love people in geniral. but i also am contient to set in my space watching a good western on TV. and if any of you happen to get close enough feel, free to stop in. we have a spair bedroom that is empty and clean mostof the time. and the moter home has a bedroom and a coch that will also make into a quein sizd bed we could plug it in and turn on the AC. Have the rest of the day good,
Lloyd
I haven't counted up the latest number of November birthdays we have in this family but a lot and keep adding more greats or spouses to the "litter".
No more talk about where you want to visit, Jane, for sure we all make our choices for a good reason!
We have a "cool spell cummin on" so time to get that yard work done. Have a wonderful week end.
Good morning Lloyd & Amy.

Well, I'm off to the haystack, too. I slept through most of 2 Perry Mason's and then I just turned it off and came in here and did a little necessary work and now I'm tired.
I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one.
P.S. Don't remember if I told you my niece's long time best friend was undergoing open heart surgery this week. Our prayers were answered and she came through it with flying colors. She's up and walking today and maybe going home on Mon or Tues.

Lloyd
Good Morning Everyfriend! it's a cool, Fall-like morning this morning and also a bit misty out there. I won't be seeing Cooper today because Frankie is off and is planning to spend the day "catching up" on house stuff! But I will be up to my ears in paper work so I might not be back in until bed time. And if my eyes are all "buggy" I might not even make it then.
I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
Good morning..
Weather is cool here also.....but not for long.
Labeling and putting away the icicle pickles, laundry and a visit with friends.
Jane, take a break when doing your paper work, it gives your eyes a bit of a rest.I am going to try that recipe you told me about and put it in the air fryer.
Patricia, how are things your way? Weather improving?
Better skedaddle..
Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning from a chill Interior at 41 degrees and another day of rain. Yesterday, we had the opposite of our spring greening. At ten AM, everything was green. When next I looked at 1:30 PM, there was orange everywhere, showing in bushes and trees. The other colors should show up soon; Thursday, we had thirty and forty MPH winds with some trees down and one or two outages in the valley. However, we only had flickers.
So far, our fall is progressing normally, and if it keeps up, our past normal first snow should be around Halloween. I say past normal as it has recently had heavy snow in the middle of October. The last two winters broke every winter record for snow and for the amount of humidity in a dry climate.
This fall has been busy with elections, seasonally and annual paperwork, building construction, inspections, and talk of a rental increase. Our new normal is expecting everything new, unexpectations and not so improved.
I started to stop several times today but every time I sat down by this sliding door the view of REAL raindrops was so pleasing I'd head off to the other end of the house for a nap. I finally had lunch about 3:30 so that will throw off supper until bedtime. :o ::)
Weather Bug is saying it's 59°, that is almost a dream! I'm ready for another nap! :smitten:
What ever you are seeing/feeling in your special part of the world, I pray you find peace and contentment. I still feel like we've had a death in the family, that a special person is gone, a family is without their loved one and I share their sadness. I'd feel the same for anyone grieving, but I've known more about this lady than I did some of my own relatives.
Hugs to all of you, I probably won't be in again tonight, good sleeping weather & my alarm goes off at 5:00 am. Just had a text from #1 son, they arrived at their condo in Breckenridge,CO for a week. They got a 2 bedroom so a friend can stay a couple days with them, she's had a bad year. They've been there enough times they know the territory so enjoy visitors. Wah... I'd love to be there but Doc doesn't think oxygen will help my breathing so it's a stand off. God Bless! :aaah: :aaah:
Time to hit the haystack. I finished some of my paper work but I still have more to work on tomorrow. I'm hoping to finish it tomorrow but my eyes will answer that question. You can go out an buy new feet, legs, hands, arms. I wonder if they have a head store somewhere that I'm missing! I need eyes, ears, a chin, some teeth...I'll look around if I ever find that store. In the meantime, I'll just be thankful that I don't need any of that other stuff!
I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one!
Good morning..
Overcast here with the threat of rain.
A welcomed day of rest here. Visiting friends after stopping a SIL for a short visit. Then home to work at doing nothing .
Leaves are taking on their fall clours, not a lot as of yet but starting.
Patricia, around Halloween is when we aslo get some snow..
Jane, if you find that store send the address I am sure a lot of us can use it.
Shirley, we sit and watch campers/ trailers go by and think of all the travelling we have done and nope I am content right here.
Better get ready to meet the day......loon call is echoing across the lake at the moment.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning AMY and anyone else who poke his/her head in later! I'm up and attem. It's a tad chilly and we're getting some very soft rain showers. They started sometime during the night and predicted to continue most of the day.
I have to go get ready for church. Cathy is dropping me off. It's her last chore before she heads out for vacation tomorrow morning. Next week I'm sort of stranded because the people who I have to depend on all work full days. If I have an emergency, my son will either leave one of the guys in charge of close the store. I pray there is NOT an emergency!
I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.
Good morning everyone. IT IS 66º and sunny here at the moment, not a cloud in sight. Nancy Has gon to her church,I am going to go eat and then turn the same preacher on Live that she drove to watch and listen to and i do not have to get spit and pollished to watch and listen to. have a good day just like you all like it. as I set here posting and watching out the office wiendow at the birds we have at least a dozen robbiens hopping aroun it the front yard picking up somenthing and eateing it. where I can see them
Lloyd
I have a question, why dose this sight not post into the current day,and not have to scrole past severial day's to posy? Like it used to.
Lloyd
Lloyd, --- Up at the top on the right hand side there are the words "Unread Posts". Click on that and it will show the posts you have not read/seen yet.
Lloyd, Soda Shoppe (and all other forums) always take you to the top of whatever page it's on (current one for Soda Shoppe is 4 - may be 5 or 6 by the time you come back).
On the left side next to the small picture (which changes frequently), you should see a box with "Go Down" in it.
If you click on it you'll be taken to the last post made on that page and the Quick Reply box should be just underneath that one.
However, it will NOT take you to the last post you read so you'll have to scroll back up to find that one.
One issue I have is that the forum changes to a new one every two weeks. I don't always remember what was posted in the former one.
Downright CHILLY in central Oklahoma this morning!! High temps are supposed to climb back up during the week but the season is definitely changing.
I've been sorting out some file folders - which is making me :crazy2: Otherwise, it's the same old routine - except football season has begun for my Oklahoma University Sooners and All My Children's Oklahoma State Cowboys. Hate it when the game is "streamed" rather than being on a "regular" channel!
Enjoy your day, Everyfriend.
Good morning. Everyone has so much going on in their lives and such warm temperatures compared to here. We have cloudy and 35, and I have another day of legal and seasonal paperwork, with one related appointment Monday and a last on the 19th.
Last week's cold spell and days of rain brought out the orange colors in the greenery, and I expect the other colors to follow soon.
Good morning...
Cloudy and may get rain along with a thunder storm they say.
We had a great time visiting with friends yesterday and seeing how their new home is doing. The trusses come next week and once the roof is on everything else falls into place faster.
Daily chores here..I am so excited . :))
Better get at'tem
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning to all who are left in here and who might read later! Our numbers are dwindling and I really miss everyone who chooses not to visit the SS.
Cooper has arrived and had his breakfast and now he's sitting there, patiently waiting to share mine! He knows he usually gets the last bite. I'm eating something I can share with him...scrambled eggs and bacon!
AMY, we've had a day and a night of gently rain and it's predicted to last most of the week. That's OK because I can hear the ground slurping it up and it's not too heavy to walk doggies in. Otherwise, I'm stuck here except for an emergency...I pray there isn't one!
I'm off to more paper work this morning and I'm hoping to finish it off this morning...PLEASE! There's no Monday newspaper to draw my attention from it so.....
I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
Good Morning everyone. IT IS 53º and clear , Not a cloud in the sky here. JaneS I am glad you are getting some easy rain. when you get what you need send some on east to us at Lature MO. we sure can use some we are gettin very dry here. Have a great day.
Lloyd
Good morning; they say the latest cold spell has moved east and our overnight low rose from yesterday's 35 to this morning's 47. However, in an arctic August, the rains will return. Radar shows it all around us with the bulk to the northwest.
Brown colors have joined the intensifying orange colors in our outside greenery with the orange carnations pulled across the street and their beds winterized. With the last two record-breaking winters in mind, everyone is preparing for more broken records.
Claire and her neighbors are busy preparing for winter, and most of the nearby grounds have been cleared, raked, and turned over. Dora, Alan, and others in the foothills are also finishing their winter grounds preparation. It's as if everyone knows that the shoe will drop, and they want to be ready for it this time.
Nothing newsworthy here other than I'm finishing a round of inspections, meetings, and paperwork. Monday's appointment on the 19th and two forms are waiting to finish, and I can officially end this summer.
well it is 75º& bright sun Here now at 12,05 not a cloud in sight, Iwish we could get some of the rain yuo are talking about, we are very dry here at Lature. we are having to watter the raised beds and every thing in are going bad.
Lloyd
Well, it's raining here and thundering, too! We will take the rain but I liked the soft, easy stuff we've been having and I would rather not have the thunder with it. Cooper is spending the night with me and I think he doesn't really like the thunder either. He's not hiding but he's sticking to me like glue!
I'm off to the haystack and I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. And may God bless us, every one!
It't been a long day, had a tree cut down that was into power lines & the underground sprinkler system in the back. They did a good job but certainly cost enough to get it down & hauled off. I told them I'd fix 'em lunch so I spent the morning cooking a pot of chicken & noodles & opened the motorhome & cleaned off the table so they could eat out there.
The neighbors across the street bought that house a year ago & have been totally remodeling ever since. The doctor that lived there died & wife moved into a nursing home next day but the kids replaced all carpeting & remodeled to suit them but not the new owners. They had a company that does jack hammering take off the whole brick front porch today. Sure looks different.
I didn't get quite 3 hours sleep last night & short nap before the jack hammers woke me up! I am off to bed right now, so sweet dreams to all and God Bless. That was a short fall we had yesterday but blistering sunshine today. I gave up while ago & turned the AC on to air the house out. The house has dark tinted storm windows & sliding doors so the temperature stays pretty steady, when it's still too long it gets stuffy.
I brought Lloyd over from New Members' Introductions...
well It Is 9:56 pm mon. sept the 12th, I am going to go watch a moovie of the , LIFE AND TOMES OF GRIZLEY ADDiMS. it is a very good seares to watch. good night and sweet dreams,
Lloyd
Good morning..
Went to be listening to the falling rain and woke to the same sound.
Kyle wants to go to a town about 90 min from here. Many years ago and I do mean many the farmer I worked for would come into town and sell eggs. They would send me one way to deliver and pick up money. Remember the day when we did leave our doors unlocked? You would walk in, leave eggs and money would be there. The town has changed since then, downtown area is not thee place to be,businesses on the outskirts now command the flow of buyers.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning Everyfriend! Cooper spent the night and we have just finished our breakfast. His next request will be for his morning walk.
I went to bed in the middle of a thunderstorm and it looks like we had rain for most of the night. More is expected today so I'll need to get a good walk in before it starts or root out my raincoat and park a towel by the door to wipe off a wet doggie.
AMY, I remember those days of leaving the door unlocked. I remember putting cash in milk bottles for the milk man to pick up in the morning and sometimes it was out all night. I also remember taping a check to the trash can for the collector to pick up when he picked up the trash. Lots of other memories of cash waiting for someone to pick it up and always picked up by the right person!
I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
good Morning everyone. Nancy has a appointment with the foot docter after while. sun is bright and clear not a cloud in sight.. shirley I shurewish you can send some of that new easy rain on over here. we sure are dry. see you all later on today I will check back after noon.
Lloyd
I recall visiting a friend in Mid-State NY years ago. My hosts had left for work and I was sleeping in after being out most of the night. Apparently it had started raining, and a lady that was just walking by noticed clothes out on the line drying. She stopped and brought the clothes in and left them (dried) on the dining room table, and then continued on her way. Being a Down-State City boy it really surprised me. I don't think anyone there locked their doors.
Today was fantastic!! Overcast for the most part then a shower on the way home. Managed to pick up all we went for and then some!!
Kyle wanted (remember I said Kyle) to go up a road to see if any houses for sale. we followed the road to??? getting ourselves misplaced. (woman doesn't say lost) but we did travel a nice country road enjoying the scenery.
Came home to phone calls to catch up on and now to relax.
Rick, as kids many times during the summer we would wake to find our aunt ,uncle and their two children from Buffalo NY asleep in the livingroom. They would leave after he got off from work and head north. Our doors were never locked back then.
After we moved to Lewisburg from Williamsport (about 25 miles), we used to enjoy going shopping in Williamsport on a Saturday. Back in those days there were not as many public toilets and the ones available were not so nice. So we usually stopped at Aunt Edie's house and sometimes she was there and sometimes she wasn't but the door was always open. My sisters and I would run in an holler "Hi Aunt Edie...if you're home. We're using your bathroom." If she was there, there would be a nice snack on the kitchen table when we came down and some good company. If she wasn't, it was back in the car and head for home!
No cell phones to say "we're on the way"!
Well, here I am again, talking to myself! I'm heading for bed a bit early tonight because I didn't manage to sleep through any of my TV shows tonight. I read a book instead and it's one of those "can't put it down" books so now my eyes are tired and ready for bed. I guess that's good because Cooper will be arriving before 7 tomorrow morning.
I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one!
well it is a 1/4 till ten,and i am going to hit the hay stack my self, the grand son is not back from colorado elk hunting and nicole has her hands over full right now so i can not get help with this computer. RAMMEL and I do not see that up top as you said. so we will addres it another day good night and sweet dreams,
Lloyd
Good morning..
Kyle has physio this morning then hope to make chicken soup. We have a bbq chicken that needs to be dealt with so soup it is. I have been wanting cornmeal muffins so hope to make those also.
Jane, I talked with a lady in a store about canning and she said she found a recipe for bread and butter pickles and they are delicious!! Here is the site.
https://www.browneyedbaker.com/bread-and-butter-pickles/
She canned them even though it say refridgerate.
Patricia, soon be time to bring out the woolies your way..
Shirley ,any word from Glorias daughter?
Better get going.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Every time I tried to post yesterday the computer "locked up" and not only wouldn't let me finish a post but couldn't get to any part of re-starting or anything! Finally last night I checked in on the old computer that is running only because it has the printer attached, and IT had ATTITUDE. Told me not to turn the computer off because it was doing an update. Then I realized what was going on and sure nuff, everything has the new screen showing this morning and all's well. I'm sure the phone would have wanted one but I only turn it on when I want to use it & when I do I have to face those updates. Better do that while I think of it, while I have time.
Lloyd, my father used to go elk or antelope hunting in CO every year with a bunch of guys that were my youngest brother's friends. Brother didn't want any part of hunting but Dad loved to go & the guys knew he could fix anything that broke or went wrong so glad to have him along. He never failed to get his game & probably one for anybody that didn't. Last time he went they got snowed in an extra week & their guide couldn't get to them. They had a house size tent with a stove inside to cook on & for heat, plus room for cots for each guy, but I'm thinking 3 weeks in the snow was over the top. Dad didn't complain but he never went back!
Much to do today so better get a move on. Still no rain but wind supposed to pick up & back to mid 90s. Yuck.......... Have a great day.
Jane, you've enjoyed sharing a dog so I mentioned to my son the other day that "when I get a dog he'll have to take her camping for me". He smiled from ear to ear. His wife does not want a dog yet, she just retired. He always took care of all pets & they have 2 cats given to her as babies when her father died 12-13 years ago. A "co-op" dog has been a good thing for you, hasn't it?
Amy & Patricia, love hearing about fall creeping in. Not pretty here with the elm trees nearly stripped of leaves, bugs of some kind. The grass that doesn't get water is brown & looks dead.
Rick, are your birds going to hang around all winter or with they migrate. I saw MY 2 robins yet yesterday, their parents didn't hang around long enough to explain to them about going south. The whole flock of them left the day these guys got out of the nest.
Amy, I was wondering the same thing. If I remember right, the last word anyone had was Gloria or daughter sent Bubble a message & she was fed up with computers.
Good morning everyone. RAMMEL I do not see what you are talking about on my page, and have to scrole down past a lotof old postes to get down here to rply. no matter i get here and I have more time than money. it is already 61º and clear skyes, not a cloud in sight. the foot docter told Nancy to stopall salt and very very light in cooking. we use what is saying light sodaim salt. i am going to try to get in touh with docter and see what to do about blod sugar, is up on the rise today. 210 this morning. @ 8;00 am when igot in here in.the office where my device is. that i post on and goes via sadilait to VA.and I have my every day headace. Lloyd
Good Morning Everyfriend! It's still morning for a bit where I am. Cooper arrived early this morning and we had breakfast together and then took our morning walk. I was still a bit sleepy so after I read the paper and put in my eye drops, I curled up on the sofa with him for a bit. Now I have to "get a wiggle on"!
SHIRLEY, it's been a life saver having Cooper here after I lost my doggies. I don't know what I'd have done without him. I'm sure your son would love sharing with you!
I've also been wondering about Gloria and we seem to have lost JOY without a word. I tried a couple of times to reach her son and DIL but did not get an answer. Every time I run across her phone number, I wonder about her! Many of the ones I miss are over in Norm's place. So at least they're around!
Now I'm going to go do "something" that needs me! I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
Lloyd, --- Look up at the top below the coffee pot - you should see "Unread Posts" - click on it.
Shirley, ---
The Robins have packed their bags and moved South. Most of the others will hang around for the Winter. Maybe some go south, but some stay. I will feed all winter, especially when it snows and they can't get to the ground. It's great to see a bright RED cardinal when there is snow all around. The squirrels show up all winter but the chipmunks go underground (Hibernate). I don't recall the Mocking Birds being around this year. Hope they just found a better restaurant.
Removed so I don't confuse Lloyd.
If I said the left I was wrong. It's on the RIGHT side.
If there is no coffee pot on your page, it is up there near the top
Amy --- I believe you have the panel showing down the LEFT side of the page. Anyone may or may not have that. It can be turned off/on. Mine is turned off to make the "business" part of the page bigger.
Rick, thank you for pointing that out. I just shut mine off :)
Lloyd, look for this....coffee_sm.gif Rick said to look on the upper right hand corner.
I didn't see the coffee pot at first either but before I posted that, I went back up and, sure enough, there it was!
I'm off to the haystack to grab some shuteye! If I don't get there pretty soon, my eyes will go shut of their own accord. Tomorrow, I'm going to Davy's with DIL and then I'm riding along with her to a big greenhouse that she frequents. I've never been there and it should be a nice place to visit.
The weather was gorgeous here today...cool enough in the early morning for a sweatshirt and then warm enough later for a tee shirt. We're supposed to have the same tomorrow! I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. And may God bless us, every one!
Good morning...
Brrr, chilly this morning starting off at 36°! Taking neighbour into the city to a Dr. appointment. We will do a bit of shopping at Costco first and let them empty our wallets. :2funny:
Jane, what a treat!! All kinds of plants will in sight but will any come home with you?
Better scoot..
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning Everyfriend! I'm up and attem. I got my shower and dressed before Cooper arrived because after he's here, I'm busy and I might not be ready when Sarah is! He's already had his breakfast, begged my last crumbs and is ready for a walk!
AMY, you never know what might happen at a greenhouse! This particular DIL is a GARDENER...BIG TIM! It seems to be her passion so maybe I can pick up a few tips! I just might shake out my wallet while I'm there! Then I'll have work to do when I get home!
Right now, Cooper is getting louder so I better get my shoes and a sweater and get moving! I hope you all have a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
Good morning, its 7:32 and still at our low of 46.Our high will be 59, but the rain that came Tuesday night through Wednesday night and brought brisk winds finally subsided. There's nothing new to write about other than that old weather standby.
good after noon. I hope you all get this. I keep getting kicked off. the weather nguesser spot says 61º and sunny, but itis hazey and over cast here now. Nancy and I have been busy working up peaches and apples.we put the peaches in boilling waterand then put them in cool watter so we can stand to handle them and peel the skin right off, then we cut them and slip them off the seeds.put them in frizzer ziplock Bags. we have appel pealers/ slicers. it cuts the peal off and the appel off the core in spirel slices. then we cut that in smaller peices. and put them in frizzer bags also, one gallen bags / seven quarts each bag.boy Nancy made a peach pie, wow was it good. the appel pealers vacum ther self with a little lever on the side to the vinal clounter top, just slide it open and stick a apple on the tongs and crank it. peals and coores and slices it in a easy motain. My mout h is wattering to get her to make a apple clobber alo. my sweet teeath calling. If you are traveling come by and we will share with you.
Lloyd
Now, Lloyd, you were just complaining about your sugar being HIGH.... so try taking those apples & put a dab of butter in a no-stick skillet & slice apples in like you slice for a pie.... put a lid on so they fry & steam (make their own juices) and just when they get that clear look put in a tad of brown sugar. Remember, a dash of salt brings out the flavor! The crust is good but any starch turns to sugar in the body so be careful what you expect your body to absorb! Missouri has the best apples, I always pick the golden delicious for pies or to fry because they don't take much sugar to get that sweet flavor. The last few years I have not been able to find bushels of "home grown" apples to buy when I go in the fall. We used to have orchards south of Wichita where you could pick your own but they have been sold out to "developers" that tore out the trees & built a lot of little houses with almost no yards. That's progress. :tickedoff:
Got a job I've put off all day but want to get it over with before dark. 2nd time this week a mole or whatever those little critters are, ICKY looking.... got into the skimmer basket of the pool and I've got to put rubber gloves on & get it out. It's dead & I'm shivering at the thought but gotta do it. Both of my sons are in Colorado or I'd be tempted to call BUT .... gotta do what I gotta do.
Oh, Rick, today when looking out the window I saw a whole bunch of sparrows hanging around the bird feeders. Looks like they were glad to have the summer visitors gone.
For years we had bushes along the sidewalk from driveway to front porch & the sparrows lived in them. When a stranger walked up to the door they would "flush" and 40 or 50 birds would take off. I called them my "bush-babies". When Cas died the funeral home had trouble getting the gurney through so I started trimming them back. Got them all out now, so none living close to the house. Our cardinals also stay all winter. We did have mockingbirds. Every so often one will pick up a new tune that I don't recognize, so know they visit around.
Getting dark so gotta go take care of that critter in the skimmer basket. Amy & Patricia, starting to sound like sure-fire fall where you are! Sounds good to me. Get to cover that pool for a few months!
:snowman:  :snowball:
I'm tired right down to my shoe laces and that's bad because I'm not wearing any shoes! I'm hitting the hay early tonight because I'm getting Cooper early tomorrow and he's going to be my buddy for a week while Frankie is on vacation. She's going to Mexico to visit her brother and his new wife. Their birthday's are the the 19th and the 21st and they've always tried to celerate them together. This will be a special one because it's the first one they celebrated together in almost 5 years.
Today was a beautiful day! The temperature never got above 78 and there was a lovely breeze all day! I did break down and buy some flower bulbs to plant while I was at the greenhouse with Sarah!
I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. And may God bless us, every one!
Good morning...
Nice rain here with a 46° temp. Taking the vehicle in for an oil change this morning then hurry home as the propane fella is to come .
Yesterday was busy,we hit Costco first then moved on to one more store then to the appointment at the medical centre. They were happy that the pressure in my friends eyes were down and all the results will be given to her in Nov.
Not sure how the rest of the day will go ,have many things to do ,wonder whic one will win out???
Better scoot
Enjoy your day and stay safe..

Lloyd
Well, LLOYD and I were the only ones in here today. I wish I could wisper that in everyone's ear so they would know it. Cooper has already hit the haystack and I'm following him. Wherever y'all are, sleep well!
Good morning...
Overcast this morning, hope the sun peeks for a bit and laundry will dry.
Jane I bought a plant on Thur a watermelon peperomia, one of my African violets died and I needed something to fill in the space. Will see how this plant does.
Will soon be time to put away the summer wear and bring out the geemogotchees again. Everyone is saying how fast summer went, my only excuse is that one is so busy in the summer that time flies by fast!!
Better start laundry..
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning to AMY and to anyone else who chooses to drop by. I'm guessing that will be LLOYD and maybe SHIRLEY! I guess we're just not all that interesting.
Usually, the first thing I do in the morning is hit the button on the coffee pot and then head back to the bedroom to make the bed. With Cooper in the bed, I can't do that because he's a lazybones about getting up in the morning. I have to let him know that breakfast is ready before he'll hit the floor! Then I have to find a few minutes later to make the bed and there have been days when he's here that it's totally left my mind! My Grandmother would be looking down her nose at me!
Some laundry is on my list for today also, AMY! It's not regular stuff, though. It's odds and ends like bathroom and kitchen rugs, towels, and bed pillows!
It's foggy as heck here today and a bit on the chilly side. I was happy to get back from our morning walk and get inside where it's a bit warmer!
If anyone reads this, I wish you a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
Good morning from a foggy Interior, 43 degrees at 6:18AM. I haven't posted because there is nothing new that I haven't posted before, and that will continue possibly through October.
On a hunch, I went back a year to the past Soda Shop. Sandy reads but rarely posts anymore from Maine. Callie posts in Norm's because, as she has said, she prefers its chatter to the SS's talk of canning, cleaning, and preserving. Callie, if I'm wrong, I apologize.
Flojean is in hospice, and Gloria's daughter has told Shirley that she will no longer be on the computer.
Bubble is busy, and I'm busy; Jenny hasn't posted since August 15th; Also, our two British posters have died or have left the Internet, and the other posts are in Norm's.
I'm really sorry to be so boring!
Quote from: JaneS on September 17, 2022, 10:36:01 AMI'm really sorry to be so boring!
Who said that was the case?
What we need is more new faces. Spread the word, tell your friends.
Jane, I wish I was as good about doing all that extra laundry as you are. Ever since I put a litter box on the floor in front of the dryer I've dreaded having to stretch around it to reach the washer OR dryer. Came a time when I discovered Tommy was using the old Christmas tree trunk and stand to potty on so had to close the Dutch door to the basement. Of course that didn't stop Tommy so had barricade by stacking stuff on the flat part of the door. About that time Callie came to live with us & she couldn't be trusted down there, either, so the box in the utility room got used a lot & I struggle to even get the necessary laundry done.
Down to just Tiger and she is getting much too spoiled. The other night/morning I woke up to a commotion by the sliding door of the bedroom. Whatever was going on was INSIDE the bedroom but the lights from the pool area weren't bright enough to tell for sure. The movement was nearly too the ceiling & all around that quarter of the room. My hand was feeing around for the bag holding the Rugar & Beretta ... couldn't find it so got up & turned the lights on..... My daughter had given Tiger the biggest, fluffiest bed you ever saw, fur on it is probably 5-6" long. Tiger got her toenail hung up & was slinging it around in circles & almost touching the ceiling when she jumped on the bed. I had been awake with allergy problems so Tiger got off MY bed & in her own, and I fell back into a dead sleep so mind was not clear & I wasn't sure if someone had broken in or what... When temps are nice I open the sliding door & go right to sleep with fresh air, but have only gotten to do that once this whole summer because temps have stayed hot overnight. Anyway, it was NO way to wake up!
Amy, did I ask you if you plant a fall garden? I got a single package of mixed lettuce seed to put in the trug, not sure how it will do since roots will probably get colder than if in the ground. The lady at the nursery said they weren't having any luck with their 2nd plantings.
Gotta get moving. I can't multi-task like used to could, forget to go back & finish what I switched from.
We all know Shirley talks too much............. :-[
:tickedoff: :tickedoff: I dislike replacing ceiling lights...but it is done and not without.. :tickedoff:
Laundry won't be hung out but it is getting done. Going to check to see if I have enough cukes left to try a new pickle......ya ..I know I said no more but the lady said they were delicious!!
Shirley, no I don't plant a fall garden...any time now we may get frost. I still have beets, carrots and parsnips in the trugs but they are safe for a bit.
Jane, bite your tongue, you are never boring!!!
Jane no one said you're boring.
Shirley, my ten-year-old Farrah, doesn't make much noise. If she isn't sleeping or eating, she's sitting like a bear, front paws up to the left of my computer, looking for attention.
Oh, c'mon now! I NEVER said I was "bored"!!!!!
I think we all have our daily routines - some are more active than others. Following Patricia's example, I did a bit of research and found that a lot of posts are in the Game forums.
Also found that, within the last few pages of "that other conversational forum" ;) ", the topics that had varied responses were:
TV shows/movies (pro and con opinions)
TV stations for news ("ditto")
Ceremonies for Queen Elizabeth
What girls were wearing in the '50s and what we wear now
Books read
Restaurants (pro and con)
and Web-Cams watched
My topic for today would be college football = and my OU Sooners are playing what used to be Archrival Nebraska.
Off to :cheer: for the Crimson and Cream!
With Love and Wishes for an Enjoyable Day to ALL S&F friends :smitten:
Just got in from feeding the neighbours hens swiss chard. They clean the leaves off, leaving the stems quicker than anything!!!
Our trip to town to pick up lighting was interesting. Heading into town a doe jumped out in front of us and headed to the other side........as did her twins one by one...phew..they all made it!!!
Fish in the AF for supper tonight.
Thanks AMY I am 85 years old and foregetfual, I need all the help I can get, also I so sad about gloria not being abel to be here with us. so what if she hits the wrong key, sometimes the rest of us do /and make mastakes also. sure is nt the end of the world.

Good night.
Lloyd
Forget about the coffee pot, and any reference to it. I certainly don't want to make any one sick
Well, this very boring day is over! I've taken care of Cooper and loved him up many times. I washed the bed pillows and put them outside in the sun to finish drying. I also washed all the bathroom rugs and the kitchen rugs. I swept all the floors and made some soup. Now if that doesn't constitute a boring day, I sure don't know what does!
SHIRLEY, that kitty sure does make thing move around your house. And I think it's wonderful how you gave them your time and space over all these years. I wonder what their lives would have been like without you around! Every cat in Cat Heaven probably knows your name!
Frankie has arrived safely in Mexico and sent me picture of her and my grandson (her brother) to prove it! I do love it when my kids families get together. I also got a picture today of my daughter, Cathy and her family on their last day on a Florida beach. Granddaughter and Grand SIL will return to Texas tomorrow and Grandson and Bride-to-be will return to Philadelphia; daughter Cathy and husband will be back here tomorrow night!
LLOYD, best wishes to your Granddaughter and her groom-to-be. I bet you'll enjoy the wedding!
Now I'm heading for the haystack! My eyes have been on "close control" for a while now and no naps came by to grab me today. I'm tired and ready to sleep. Cooper has already gone to bed. He knows when it's time. I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. And may God bless us, every one!
P.S. Rick, I don't remember your reference to the coffee pot, but I can't forget about a coffee pot. I'm addicted!
Lloyd was visiting the sites again;
I do not reamber rezining so why do i need to re regester?
Lloyd
well the grilmans done it again got my post befor i got it posted. so I gusse I will just put this Laptop to bed and go either fiend a good moovie to sleep through or just goto bed, see you all tomorow.
Lloyd
Good evening‼️ I can not believe how long it has been since I have posted. It isn't because I do not think of you all everyday. I just do not seem to have that much to say, but I sure enjoy what you all have to say🥰
Last weekend we drove to Cortez Colorado to my 56th class reunion. It was a beautiful 7 hour drive. Seeing old friends is always a treat. We chatted for 3 full days and we STILL had things to say🤪
As we drove through the Buena Vista / Salida area, I sure thought about you, SHIRLEY. It was beautiful going through the San Louise Valley. My heart was mighty full of joy getting back to the community that was so very precious to my family when I was growing up.
We visited Telluride....what a disappointment it was to see what has happened to that wonderful little community. The traffic was awful and I could hardly recognize much of anything in the town. They call this progress?
Today we enjoyed going to a Octoberfest in the community where Dr. Dave lives. We go every year and it is always enjoyable. Not quite as much fun when one can not have a good German Bier to drink, but the Keto diet we are on frowns on drinking something that is like eating two sandwiches 🤪🤪🤪
Next weekend we are going to Chicago to one of our daughter-in-laws fathers memorial. My bucket list has always been to get to Michigan, one state of four in the continental US that we have not been. I have wanted to go to Mackinaw Island every since seeing the movie SOMEWHERE IN TIME. My dream is coming true. My only regret is that Norm and his sister are no longer living, so can not see them😩😩
I hope EVERYFRIEND is doing well.
Jenny
Good morning..
Looks like we may get the rain today. Liquid sunshine is always welcomed this time of year, helps the wells ,rivers and creeks.
Geese are moving..one flock going by now with crow cawling in the back ground.
A day of rest here....hope to finish putting on a binding then hand sew the
back of it.
Jane, I bet you could write many books on your times as a Guide leader and still have stories to tell.
Jenny good to see you , you have beens busy in your travels.
Patricia, our trees are starting to dress in their fall colours. Love seeing the different shades but know what comes next.
Enjoy your day and stay safe..
Good Morning Everyfriend! WELL! That's more like it! A special good morning to LLOYD, AMY, JENNY and PATRICIA. Have a great day!
I'm off to take Cooper for a walk and then get myself ready for church. My daughter (who usually drops me off) is on her way home from Florida today so my son will be taking her place this morning. I've had my breakfast and Cooper had his.
Right now, it's 58º and a bit misty out there but it's supposed to hit a high of 84 later today. Around here, that's a typical fall day.
AMY, I've heard the geese. They have a stopping place on a pond a short distance from my house and they fly back and forth between that and the river as a stopping place on the way South. So they are on the way!
JENNY, it sounds like you've been a busy lady and it's not over yet! What fun to visit with classmates and see familiar places. We have a small group of classmates (anywhere from 8 to 12) who try to get together for brunch once a month. It's always a special day! And once in a while someone shows up who is back home for a visit!
I better get into moving mode or I won't be ready when Philip comes to pick me up! I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow....and definitely NOT Boring!
well here I am @ 10;25 AM sunday the 18th. it is over cast and73º weather guesser is saying cloudy. Nancy went to church and left me in bed asleep. I was wide awake still at 4;00 am. my laptop decide to reset its self at10 AM so i had to weight on it to get in to S&F this morning. It was aying cleaning it self up. well it is done and I am here with a splitting hed ace. so i am going in to the easy chaire and try to get some more sleep. Have a good day everyone.
and JaneS I do not think you are boring, I am glad to have you here as a friend.
Lloyd
Good morning from the Interior at a cloudy 40 degrees and rain, This is normal September weather, and we should see another temperature drop and leaf drop before the end of the month. October should be cool, crisp, and colorful as we await the first snow nominally by Halloween.
Western Alaska's plains are under a disaster alert as the Bering and Chukchi seas are amid turbulent storms made much worse by climate change. However, no injuries have been reported as the state was aware of the coming storm. The indigenous Inupiat have lived on the coastal plains for thousands of years, bought in offshore fishing boats, and prepared as much as possible.
I seem to have started something with everyone reassuring Jane that she's not boring. That wasn't said or inferred. Other folks have different discussions that may not fit everyone, which is why there are two, not one, main discussion groups, three if you count Bosum Buddies, all with different interests and discussion topics.
I haven't heard or seen any of the geese, ducks, or loons this summer as I haven't been to the wildlife sanctuary or anywhere this year. Since the trees in the back were cut down and disposed of, I haven't seen or heard any of the smaller birds either. Oddly, I've only seen two raven pairs this fall at a time when the young males should be in small groups and instigating trouble with the mated pairs.
There have yet to be any major flocks gathering in the skies and generating a racket as everyone puts in their two cents about where they should go, how fast, and in what order. There have been no wildlife sightings for me all year.
A good Sunday HELLO to EVERYFRIEND‼️
Octoberfest was fun yesterday, inspite of the fact they were already out of the Octoberfest Bier that I was hoping to have a few sips of‼️🤪. We arrived just 40 minutes after it started. At least I did not have to cheat on my diet🤪🤪🤪. The normal Austrian "oompah" band was not there and everyone was disappointed‼️ There was a band there but they were not playing any German Music nor anything I would enjoy. 😩🥲 oh well, I will look forward to next year‼️
AMY, I knew about Kyle's expierence with his Holter monitor, but PHYLLIS, I did not know about yours. Wow, a month is a LONG time to deal with one. Ihad one on the week of my Dads Memorial Service. That thing itched so bad that I was extremely grateful when the day came to pull it off. BAD NEWS is, I mailed it in the box provided as it was on a weekend and the clinic was not open. Turns out, that was a big mistake. Thankfully I kept all records and pictures of where it was mailed....to Phoenix AZ. GOT confirmation it was delivered there......3 weeks later after me asking and asking about the results.....the finally got word the place did receive it but it had no data on it. Logically speaking....one would think they would have reported that to my doctor....instead there was NO response from them until mt clinic contacted them with my info ....then they said it was blank. I think they lost it myself‼️ Now I have to do it all again😡😡 G R U M B L E 😩😩😩😩😩
We are going to Dr. Dave's to watch our Broncos and have dinne4 together. I sous vide'd a tri-tip roast and he is supplying the rest of the veggies. Always enjoy seeing the family.
I wish you all a good rest of your day.
Jenny 🏈🏈🏈 GO BRONCOS
Aw, Patricia, I think that probably makes you as sad as I would be (Not getting to watch the wildlife/birds). I don't go down to the river as often anymore and this "summer of sun" reminds me of the summer of 1954. THAT summer was as miserable as possible & don't think the record has ever broken. I worked at Base Supply at what is now called Whiteman Air Force Base, a SAC base... nearest BIG city was KC but close small town is Warrensburg, MO. (Right around the corner from Lloyd & Nancy). It was 118 degrees in that concrete block building (no trees near an air force base), and NO AC. I had my first heat stroke that summer but not at the base. Right now it is butting the 100° mark, depending on which weather guesser you look at! NOT my kind of nice day.
Good to see you, Jenny. My boys went to the Salida/Buena Vista area early June & had a ball & last week Andy & wife went to the time-share in Breckenridge & this week Pete took his girlfriend to run the Pikes Peak Marathon.
So far I've skipped lunch, my tummy is complaining, for sure. I honestly could not think of a thing that sounded good. Maybe a nap will help. Hope every Friend has had a nice week end.
Oh, NO, Jenny! Sorry about the blank monitor! What is it that causes everything to do with electronics to mess up this year.
I don't know, SHIRLEY, but I'm ah thinking it is indeed GREMLINS‼️‼️
My DVR is set to catch every bit of the coverage of the Queens Final Farewell🦋 Back in the day we had to be up to catch anything like this. Thankful we can now watch at a better time for us.
Pleasant dreams to all.

Sweet dreams & God Bless Everyone! :-*
Good Morning Everyfriend! This will probably be short because I'm sure Cooper is ready for a walk and I'm not dressed yet. We're supposed to have cloudy weather this morning and then rain this afternoon and evening. Cathy and Craig are arriving home from Florida today. I hope the rain doesn't interfere with their trip or slow them up.
PATRICIA, I was just kidding about being boring. I really hope I'm not! It was supposed to be a funny reason for everyone leaving this forum! I didn't mean to upset anyone!
I have no idea what's on the forum for today. Maybe a bit of laundry and that IS boring to me! It's not something that I enjoy but it's always there!
JENNY, next time, let the dr. take that "whatchamacallit" off and read it him/herself! It sounds like that other place doesn't know what to do!
I guess I better go get dressed and ready to walk. I wish you all a good day...beetter than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
Post that was misplaced by Lloyd.

Good morning..
We had a dandy storm during the night..everyone was awake!! Gave both dogs some Rescue Remedy and aftr a bit they settled down. Along with the remedy they had hugs and sweet talk too. :)
Working in the kitchen today......just hope we don't lose power when canning.
I did manage to get the binding sewn on one side of the quilt yesterday and now hand sew it to the back.
Enjoy your day and stay safe..
Good Monitor --- Blank screen --- Loose or dirty cable/plug.
First step - Remove and then reseat.
I am actually still alive and still have enough brain left to use the computer but some days the body is just not willing to do anything so that is why I don't get here as often as I used to. But, I still think I am part of the group and try to read most days and am always interested in what all of you have to say.
I am slower than molasses now in my older years so don't always accomplish as much in a day as I used to. I have learned that most things will wait until "tomorrow" to get done....or even longer. At least, I can still do some things and also, still have enough memory left to remember to do them. ;D
It's still summer here but at least the leaves are beginning to change color so the calendar says Autumn even though the temperature disagrees.
Take care, All.
GOOD MORNING.
I have watched in full the coverage of Queen Elizabeth's final farewell this morning. One can not help but feel emotional 😭 I feel blessed that I have been lucky enough to to have been in England two times in my lifetime. Having stood on a corner and have the Queen pass by within a couple of feet of me; looking into her beautiful blue eyes as she passed. Having my mother-in-law being a British citizen has certainly encouraged my interest in always keeping up with the British Monarchy. King Charles III was born on Bob's Birthday and Charles and Diana married on our wedding anniversary date. I have seen that CROWN in person....how cool is that? Just my personal thoughts for the moment🦋
Thinking about EVERYONE across the world who are able to share in the momentous occasion. My wish is that it makes us all stop and realize how precious life is and help us all to do our best to make our lives as special as they can be.
I love to quote what Queen Elizabeth said to the American people on 911. "Grief is the price we pay for love"
Jenny
When I type here, in this reply, does it put it in the right place?
Lloyd, --- Yes. it's in the right place.
I'm heading for the haystack a bit early tonight. I'm tired right down to my shoestrings (and I'm not even wearing shoes!. Cooper went to bed already and if things are as usual, he's in there warming up my side of the bed.
Frankie turned 30 today and Daniel will be 40 the day after tomorrow. They are celebrating together in Daniel's home in Mexico! They sent me a picture today and I bet I'll get another one on Wednesday. If you don't know, these are two of my grandchildren.
I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one!
Good morning everyone.well I went to bed earer than uasual for me, slept pretty good, and the reply button was up at the top where it it supposed this morning so this post should be in the right place this moning have a great day,
Lloyd
Good morning..
Muggy out ,no sign of rain but who knows?
Working with the rest of the beets today, pickling some and just eating others. Need to label the 25 jars of potatoes and put them away.
Off to start the day..
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning Everyfriend! We're up, had breakfast and took a walk this morning. It was down into the high 50s overnight and is heading for a sunshiny high of 80º today. We had a lot of rain overnight and everything is very grateful for that!
I have to get ready for two appointments at the Dr. office today. They are both for tests in the clinic and should be pretty quick in-and-outs and over with. Cathy is home from her vacation and missing her kids but glad to be home.
I don't know what else might take place today. Whatever it is, I'm ready. I hope you all have a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.
I think I hear an echo in here...in here...in here...in here!
HELLO to EVERYFRIEND 🦋🦋
I enjoyed watching Queen Elizabeths final farewell. it was a wonderful tribute to a first class lady.....every bit of it. I heard often that she had corrugated the whole thing.....what a wonderful job she did. I sat down and watched the entire program.
I just came from seeing my dietician and my pulmonology cardiologist and they BOTH were just blown away by my loss of 14# on the keto diet that I have been on for a month tomorrow. My blood glucose levels are in the non dietetic range now, and they will take me off of the last drug in another month. They STILL can not find the reason for my need for oxygen other than the high altitude here in Colorado. I am wearing another Holter Heart Monitor as the last one I wore for a week supposedly had no information on it. 😩😩 I am feeling pretty happy about all of this.
Will be anxious to hear what all you did today, JANE.
AMY, you have been and continue to busy, busy, busy with all of your canning. What a lady!
I hope you all are doing well today.
Jenny
Hello...hello ...helloooooooo Janie!!
Beets are history....done, done and done.I was going to do carrots tomorrow but they can wait...a wee frost will help them and the parsnips. I threw the beet tops to the hens and they cleaned them right up, unlike the swiss chard where they leave the stems!!
Jenny... :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: way to go on the weight loss!!!
Patricia, I watched geese go over head, listening to the wind in their wings. Will post a photo of what my friend sent if I can.
We don't chatter very much, do we?
I'm heading for the haystack! Cooper is already there, warming up my side of the bed!
JENNY! You had some very good news today! Congrats! Keep on keeping on!
I had a visit to the doctor's office to lend them a bit of blood to see what's going on inside. The library is directly across the street from there so we made a stop there and I picked up a book by Tom Clancey. He's the one who authored the books that star Jack Ryan. They've made some movies from some of his books.
After the library, we hit WMart and I filled up on bird seed, found a birthday present for Mikey and got some groceries! When I got home, I was both tired and hungry. I managed to put away the groceries, take Cooper for a walk and fill my tummy before I conked out. I woke up with Cooper asking for his supper and another walk. And that was my day! Not too exciting but not exactly boring...at least not to me!
Now I'm heading for the haystack and (hopefully) a good night's sleep!
AMY, I haven't heard the geese on the pond again. Only that one day so far but the number of birs at the bird feeder has already dwindled. And I haven't seen the squirrels although the peanuts are disappearing. I wonder if they're stashing them for the winter!
I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. And may God bless us, every one!
well I am heading for the hay stack also, we took the credit that lowes sent us by email/ for the warenty on the deepfreize up right that went bad, will be 10 days before they have the new depfreze in. they do not have annother one like it in stock. the one they are getting for us is a higher priced one/ is supost to be bigger an better.but they are giveing that one to us for the same creddit no more $$$, that part is alright.but the problem is we have appels and peaches ready. so I guess we are have we are going to have to can them like AMY dose. oh well what ends well is well they say. good night and sweet dreams.
Lloyd
well this is the second reply hope one of them went in the right place, good night and sweet dreams.
Lloyd
Good morning..
I got up but my get up and go didn't. Think I will just coast for the day.
Calling for t-storms today.Rain is always welcomed in the fall but no need for the music and light effects.
Jane, hope you did get a good nigts sleep. When my head hit the pillow last night it was lights out!
Just look how fast Sept is disappearing!!
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning Everyfriend! I did get a good night's sleep last night! I'm up and ready to go and so is Cooper. We've had breakfast and he's telling me right now that he's ready for his morning walk. That's next on the agenda. Then the group from Pennsylvania House Furniture where I used to work in the office are getting together for lunch today. Good friend picks me up and then brings me home and sometimes we make a stop on the way.
We'll see what happens in between! I think I might throw a load of laundry in the washer...or maybe not! This is going to one of THOSE days! Maybe I'll start my book but I can read while the laundry goes. You can see that my day is going be a "What NOW" type of day!
And now it starts...I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
well I done it again I hit the wrong keey and away went my post. well we are getting a new up rght deep freeze, under warenty,In about ten days, it is a little larger and the cost was higher. but they are giving us it to us for the same price as the one we had, because they do not have another in stock, and can not get another liket it was.I am for canning some like we used to, Including some of the meeat when we butcher the steear calf. booil some patoies and carrets with the beeaf and can in quart jars, can ti with some of the beef and carretes onians and patoes can open a jar of that on a cold winter day, heat it up, it makes a quick easy meal, great on a cold winter day.
Lloyd
see you all later,
Lloyd

Rick,I also listened to the Lettermen, conjured up a bunch of memories. Thank you.
Where is Everyfriend? I'm heading for the haystack. I didn't manage to squeeze in a nap today and my eyes want to close. Cooper has already gone to bed. I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. And may God bless us, every one!
I'm here, but as usual, not very chatty. As I sit here surfing I just got the aroma of Pepe LePew. There's enough wooded area around here so that we always have wildlife around, including the unwelcome skunks.
We used to have lots of skunks around but rarely smell one anymore. I worry about rabies when we "get wind" they are moving in.... quite a few years ago one tested positive somewhere along this river but that was before any of the cats had moved in.
About an hour & half ago the cool air dropped down & I can hardly wait to get to bed & have the door open a tad... was miserable hot today. I think I heard the high is only 69 tomorrow & today it was 99, don't think it went over the record again today.
Oops, I haven't listened to good music yet so will go back & enjoy after I post. Thanks, Rick.
Jane, I didn't get a nap today, either and I can feel my chin dropping down into sleep mode.
Lloyd, my folks always had a farmer raise a calf every year and made sure it was grain fed for a while to make better flavor... sure tastes different from what we settle for now. If fact, the cats quit eating any of the stores (including Sam's) hamburger a few months ago and I've had to buy eye of round roast to cut into bite sizes or they just walk away. Now that it is only Tiger it isn't quite so bad, but the eye of round roasts are about same per pound as hamburger is... just extra work for me!
Amy, the wind tonight almost has a bite to it, thermometer says only 69 but guess the gusts of wind makes it feel colder. Need to check out the kitchen & find where Tiger is & head to bed.
Sweet dreams & God Bless.... Love y'all. Shirley
Edit: Great music. My early years I lived to dance & married someone that couldn't hear the beat of music..... he didn't even like to listen to music, in the car we didn't have the radio on because he liked the all news/opinions & I would take along my Sony Walkman with ear/phones to listent to anything but that kind of radio. Mostly we looked out the windows or talked <grin>.
Good morning...
I am taking my friend for her Ophthalmologist appointment today. She is going to the same place where I took our neighbour , just not the same Dr. Kyle is staying home and looking after the furkids..
We had two storms go through yesterday, one during the day and one around 8:30 - 9:00 pm. Today is to be a lot cooler...thankfully!!
Jane, I told my neighbour about Rescue as his BIG dog hides in the closet when it storm . Plus a man at the grocery store said his little dog is scared so I told him where I bought our Rescue Remedy.
Shirley, starting out at 49° and isn't to hit the 50's today. Great working weather.
Lloyd, I have canned beef, chicken, and hamburg . The hamburg was put into to batches one for us and one for the dogs. Now I need to can soups and that sound do it.
Patricia, how is everything in your neck of the woods?
Better get ready and see what the day brings. Still dark out at the moment.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
I'm here, Amy, scratching my eyes. Hay fever season has really been bad this year & the dry wind makes the eyes itch worse. Whine, whine, whine. I've tried everything in the book to help this since moving to Wichita area back in 1964 but the cures were worse than the allergies. It is 55 degrees & rain all around but not on top of us right now. I didn't open the door last night 'cause I knew Tiger would be checking out the smells & sounds all night. This may be one of those mornings I have an egg sandwich & go back to bed for couple more hours. I'll post this & see if Janie is up yet!
Good Morning Everyfriend! We had more rain overnight and we're supposed to get more today. The expected high temp today is 69º. I do believe Fall is truly here!
I'm just barely up and attem. I'll have to hurry and get dressed and get Cooper out for a walk before more rain comes. I took off and went for a walk with Cooper while it wasn't raining and just as we got to the far point and he chose to make it a profitable trip, the rains came! We both came home wet!
I made a new recipe for supper last night....Dutch Oven Red Beans and Rice and it was GOOOOOOD! It's definitely a keeper!
I don't know what's on the agenda for today but I know I won't see Cathy. She's having a test that really takes the get-up-and-go out of you! I'm hoping for good results!
RICK, I didn't think of you as being in the COUNTRY but it sounds like you are. I always check for skunks before I let the dogs out in the yard in the dark. And I'm definitely in the COUNTRY!!
AMY, I think we should both get a rebate from Rescue Remedy! I bet we've increased their sales in the past years!
I guess I better get on with my day and see what it brings! I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.
P.S. I was posting while you were, SHIRLEY!

I'm definitely NOT in the country, - BUT - I live in an area that is near or in between a Golf Course, a large City Park which has a wooded area, and almost abutting an old rail bed that has been converted to a walking/nature path. There is a limited access Thruway nearby, with it adjoining side areas (a nice path for deer, chucks, geese, and whatever. There is also nearby an Electric Companies high voltage wire run (big towers), - with it's clear area under it. So there is lots of access to my area for wildlife. I've even had a large Buck on my lawn a couple of times, and an occasional visit by turkeys. Whenever I get up in the middle of the night I look out the windows (Front & Back) to see if there is anything of interest.
I agree with Rick. You don't have to live in the country to have lots of wild life. I live in a town of 185,000 and right next door to Raleigh, pop of 490,000 and we have deer, coyotes, fox, possums, raccoons, and a lot more going through our yard all the time.
Hot again today. Fall hasn't reached here yet and I'm really tired of summer heat and humidity. Maybe tomorrow......
Take care, All.
How is everything in my neck of the woods? Steady rain, check; multiple leaf colors, check—seasonal required papers by local, state, and federal check. Structural and maintenance building and apartment inspections by HUD this Friday, check. Final inspections on Monday, check. Unusual early prior to 2017, snow expected above 2000 feet in the foothills check. So, nothing new this month.
At 11 AM, it's a rainy 38 degrees, and we're talking among the local group about reinstating our morning check-ins since we've been unable to plan large get-togethers this summer. Most of the group lives in those foothills or outside of the city, our new get-together typical, I suppose.
I'm hoping that I'll be more available in mid-October.
Sounds like we all chose a spot where we can almost feel country but close enough to the conveniences of today's world.
I think it was you, Amy, that mentioned the cooler temps were "good for working"... I totally agree with you but today was for catching up on lost sleep. I've been sorting the clothes for fall/winter and only got as far as what to sleep in. When I started camping I discovered I felt better sleeping in "sweats" and that included hoodies when cool enough. Lots of advantages but I won't go into detail. I do have light weight sweats & some that are very thick, and I got out the light weight ones last night & glad I did.
Even though I have a humidifier on the furnace, as dry as this air is every season it takes a bit to get the balance right. Right now my kitchen/family room floor that is 3/4" solid wide oak wood (it's stained walnut color) is dry & the cracks between planks have gaps enough when I bumped Tiger's milk bowl that she didn't lick dry, the milk went straight into those cracks. I was doing my best to grab paper towels to suck it back up but kept thinking I smelled sour milk all day. Son said he couldn't smell it last night, expect all my spraying with Lysol & smell goods paid off! :-\
We're supposed to be back to normal temps tomorrow so I do have to hit the floor running. (hey, sounds good, huh?) Daughter will be in town for 10 days, wants to catch both week ends so she can go to ball games her grands play in, & has some meetings at the university she graduated from & still sits on the board. She mostly sleeps at her son's house so the 3 kids can have morning & nights to visit with her.... but when I had my cataract surgery she stayed at my house & "helped" me. I was having to call her for weeks after she went home to find where she put things. ;)
And now, dear hearts, I'm off to feed my face. Did any of you grow up eating sweet rice? Cooked nice & soft with milk & sugar & dash of cinnamon. Haven't had that for ages but bought some white minute rice this week & think that is what's on the menu. I've been keeping Aunt Nellie's pickled beets in the frig all summer as well as a little bowl of chopped celery bites to munch on. My grandmother & father thought celery something you should eat every day & right now the lettuce is so awful I quit buying it, gotta eat my greens!
Sweet dreams & God Bless. Shirley
Hello Everyfriend! It's nice to see lots of posts! RICK, I guess you re in a city area but it sounds like "country" around you!
Today was a read my book, take Cooper walking between rain storms, and put stuff away type day. I'm ready for the haystack. I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning..
As Jane would say I was all in but my shoelaces and my wagon was draggin. My friends appointment went well, she has to have cataract surgery and that will be in 6 - 8 months. First we went to an outside market ,prices sure have gone crazy a quart of strawberries were 7.50!! Other vegetables followed suit.
Playing catch up today after paying a bill that came while I was away.Temp is 33° at the moment......maybe our garden had a touch of frost last night?? Will bring in a few plants I would like to winter over and let the rest go.
Shirly, I like to catch up on sleep on a rainy day. The sound of the rain is a soothing lullaby.
Patrica, all too soon you will get snow . Kyle is cleaning up our snow tires to get ready to put them on. Pup aka Jesse brought in his first stick of wood last night..
Better get ready to meet the day..
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning everyone, we are going up our deaughters and help with food proseing for the weading, and on the way I have to go VA and get some, test strips for blod sugar, boy this getting old and crippled with diieabetas sure is not fun. i would miss haveing time with the great grands, but would be ok with me if God would call my number any time, Have a day just like you like it.
Lloyd
Good Morning Everyfriend! Today is a better start than some of the days this week! I actually feel like doing something. NOW, WHAT should I do?
LLOYD, I have this theory about Heaven that says we will not be missing what goes on in our families left on earth. What meant a lot to us here stays with us there...maybe not exactly the same but we will feel part of it. I KNOW that when I make fruit cake for Christmas, my mother is with me! And when it comes time to stir and I need and extra hand, my Dad is there, just as he always was for my Mother. I'm thinking I might have a chance to watch over Ali's shoulder as she expands her canning knowledge. Of course, there are lots of other things I'll be part of. Just think about what you enjoy the most with your kids, grandkids and greats! You'll be there!
AMY, what will you do with all your time since you don't have to do a garden and everything is canned and ready to eat? Oh, right, I forgot...you'll be outside snowblowing!
Now I have to go get my shoes on and take Cooper for a walk. He's sitting by the door gruffing at me! I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
Good morning all.
Trees all still green but it was down to 50° last night. Getting a bit too cool in the house, Might have to start thinking about some heat, or find a blanket.
My husband grew up with sweet rice, Shirley. In my family we had rice as a sweet pudding with egg and milk and baked for dessert. Also, buttered rice in place of potatoes.
COLD weather finally got here last night. It feels wonderful today!
(/size]
I forgot to say earlier...we often had rice with butter, sugar and milk on it for our breakfast and what my grandfather, grandmother, and mother called rice pudding for dessert or a bedtime snack when we were growing up
Good morning, 31 degrees and clear at eight in the morning. We have the big HUD inspection today, but we'll see if anything changes. This has been delayed for three years due to Covid and other reasons.
They had also cut in half security and maintenance and haven't increased either back to pre-pandemic numbers. There will be another final appointment on Monday, and then I can winterize my apartment and change out my seasonal clothing.
We had snow last night in the lower mountain passes, Amy, and expect it to come earlier again this year as it has in the past three.
We had many rice dishes growing up, both hot and cold. We had the sweet pudding Shirley mentions only with raisins or sometimes berries. My parents were from Kansas and Missouri, so we had several midwestern standards growing up. Since we didn't achieve statehood until 1959, we had a lot of fish and game, with extras from a large acre garden growing up.
PATRICIA, we also had raisins or some kind of fresh fruit in our rice for breakfast. Also raisins in the baked rice pudding. Thanks for the memories Everyfriend...also for the idea. I'm hungry for rice pudding!
I make my rice pudding by rote as it's one of those dating to childhood recipes. However, for those not so lucky, I found this recipe online; posting it in our recipe forum;
https://www.seniorsandfriends.org/index.php?msg=223755
Shirley, we also got sweet rice...baked rice pudding or rice cooked with raisins. My Mom would also boil rice.....drain ,add sugar ,not a lot and then place a plate on top. The plate would squeeze any excess water out along with the help of the sugar. Next morning it would be drained and whipping cream whipped and folded into the rice. DELICIOUS!! Don't forget the cherry on top!
Not all mid-westeners are the same, Patricia. I was born and raised in KS but I never had rice for breakfast. Also, our Rice Pudding was never cooked on top of the stove. We used left-over plain, white rice from dinner the night before and added sugar, raisins, cinn., etc. and baked it in the oven. When I make rice pudding now I always use the same recipe that my Mother did and I bake it in my Grandmother's baking bowl that was passed down to me when I got married. That bowl is over a hundred years old (maybe closer to 150 years now) and still makes the best rice pudding. It doesn't taste right if I use any other pan or bowl.
All this talk of food reminds me I'd better get dinner started.
Take care, All.
Phyllis, it was Jane who mentioned rice for breakfast. However, for years, I 've eaten foods whenever I wanted and not for a specific meal, so I've had rice for different meals. Generally, I have rice pudding with raisins and lots of cinnamon when I want comfort.
Late afternoon already, and no sign of the Hud inspectors with three hours to go. After three years, I've become very pessimistic about events happening as promised.
EDIT: Surprise! They never came by...
Patricia, one thing that gets to me the worst is having to waste MY time waiting for anyone. I grew up being taught that is about the rudest thing you can do is make people wait on you unless you have no choice at all (in my world that meant you had to be dead). I don't even excuse doctors running late for appointments unless the doc has been called out for an emergency.
All you that eat raisins in your rice (or anything else), even at my age I still can't choke down raisins cooked or baked in any foods, do eat them by the handsfull out of the bag or box. Seeing one cooked still makes goose bumps all over my body remembering my youngest brother telling me what I was trying to choke down in that prune cake that Grandma was famous for.... was really ticks they pulled off the bird dogs that lived at Grandma's house. Those dogs had "slick" hair so you could see the big fat ticks, and dogs were never tied up or confined so had ticks all over & had to be picked off, one job I couldn't do. We weren't allowed to say "no, thank you" to that cake, but "just a small piece, thank you" was okay. That brother was about 6 years older than me & such a tease. I knew back then as I know now, those weren't ticks, but my "picture it" works too good & that raisin won't go down!
Time to wish you all "Good Night". My house guest was picked up by his Mama this evening so my bed will be empty tonight. But you've never seen any living being so happy to see another as Cooper was to see his Mama this evening! He was all over her with kisses and love!
I'm heading for the haystack and I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one!
It IS time for me to wish you all good night and sweet dreams. Hope to see you all in good healt and spireats tomorow.
Lloyd
Goodnight y'all. Keep a blanket handy tonight.
Good morning...
Frost on the ground this morning......that time of year again. Temp is sitting at 28° at the moment.
Laundry day and with luck will be able to hang it out.
I can't help but think on those on the east coast......they are in for a horrible time with hurricane Fiona. This one is bigger that hurrican Juan and it wrecked havoc there in 2003.
Jane, I bet you miss your bed warmer.
Rick, also time to get the geemogotchees out.
Patricia, that was a no show that didn't surprise you!! I dislike not being given a heads up when one can't meet appointment time. I am always early for my appointments.
Just remembered we get to look after the next door furkids.. :smitten: Callie will get her tummy rubbed..and treats and Rex will get hugged and special treat!
Better shake a leg and get moving.
Enjoy your day and stay safe!
Good Morning Everyfriend! Right now the temp is 46º but the overnight low was 42º! RICK, I was snuggled in right up to my ears!
My day has already begun! I've stripped the bed and the sheets are in the washer, just about ready for the dryer. If I can't have a doggy in my bed, I'm going to have a clean bed! I already put the dishes away out of the dishwasher and one basket is out by the door for our trip to the recycle center this morning.
It's gonna be a busy day! And the high temp will be 70. I have the box of sweaters out and ready to exchange for the short sleeved shirts. That's also on the agenda. The busy day will also be a boring report. Just normal stuff! Bear with me!
I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
P.S. I tried posting and AMY beat me in. Yes, I did miss my "bed warmer"!
We got down to about 45° last night. By wake up time I had to turn some heat on - first of the season. Remember that smell the first couple of timed the heat comes on? Reminds me of the old school days when the radiators would get painted during the summer, and when the first heat came into the radiators the classroom would "stink" of paint fumes.
Good mid morning everyone. 64º and sunny, not a cloud in sight here.@10;15 AM. Hope you are all having a good day just like you like it.
Lloyd
as they say a bad pinnie always returns, Here I am. we are ready to leave and go to the wedding this evening. sun is verry bright not a cloud in sight.76º now. see you all later.
Lloyd
Good morning, 35 degrees and cloudy with more frost this morning. We had rain again last night, but hopefully, that's the last bit we'll see of it.
I've never had radiator heat. We had coal when I was a child and changed to oil when we moved in 1966. In Tennessee, Kentucky, we had a wood stove. In Texas, we had oil. When heat is turned on, there always seems to be a period of nightly groans as pipes send the water about. I haven't turned on my heat since April because it's controlled by the office, admittedly denied; a new development since Covid and staff reduction. Somehow we had the groans and thumps beginning in mid-August, and my thermometer reads late seventies or eighty.
Today will be a day of rest; paperwork will be finished on Sunday, and another Monday appointment, hopefully, the last.
If you never had radiators, where did the water in the pipes go --- "nightly groans as pipes send the water about."
Baseboard heating, Rick.
Well, that whole page just flipped off & gotta start over. I remember when everyone I knew had big old furnaces in the basement & a coal bin where the guys that delivered just shoveled it through a little window. Had to stay away from that coal dust or for sure had to take a bath before Mom would let you sit down anywhere! I remember when Dad had the natural gas hooked up to convert the big furnace over. He always put Mom's cast iron skillets & Dutch oven in the furnace when it was going to be on during a super cold spell, to burn off all that old grease. Then Mom would have to "season" them again. Those days are long gone. I tagged around to see how everything was done, no dolls or dress up for me!
One house we had a big floor "register" that heated the whole main floor but I don't recall if any heat ducts upstairs or heat just went up the stairs <grin>. Most of the houses we've had used natural gas but I understand that's supposed to be replaced. The place we rented in England had either coal/wood fireplace to heat the whole house & one had electric heaters built into the wall, but only in the main living/sitting room. I had scorch marks on my back side trying to heat the rear with those bar heaters. Coal was still rationed in the mid '50s and wood didn't heat that well. Was only 3 days we didn't have a fire in the fireplace one whole year. The apartment that had the electric heater had natural gas in the kitchen & for hot water, but it was on a meter & had to have enough coins to put in or would run out in the middle of baking a cake. (Of course, I had to learn the hard way!) It took a lot of livin' to get to this ripe old age! And now I'm gonna go wash & poke that big ole potato, bake it in the microwave, cut in half & cover with shredded cheese & lots of butter & when that melts in the oven I'll go out & cut off some chives, chop to put on top along with sour cream. Yum.... I'm hungry.
Bet Lloyd is having "a good feed" at the wedding tonight. I doubt if they will just serve the mints & nuts & cake like the old days. I think all my grands had nice dinners served (so out of town guests didn't go home hungry) but one father has offered a BIG sum of money if they will just have a private ceremony.
Sweet dreams, God Bless and with one last bit of news, it was HOT here again today so I have not ventured out. :-*

I ,as others, still consider them radiators. Just not the old cast iron tall ones so many of us had. Pop "Baseboard radiators" into a search engine.
Okay, I hadn't heard of that term, and you're right. Previously when I thought of radiators, I thought of the large pipes that could burn you and were set off the floor and on the wall.
When I was growing up, I didn't know what was making the heat. I just knew where to go to get warm when I needed to. The only one I really remember was the the floor at my grandmother's house. It was between the living room and dining room and it was big enough for my sister and me and my three cousins to all stand on at the same time. And if you weren't careful, when the blower came it could blow your dress right up around your ears. Embarassing!!
I got done everything that was planned today. I put away the dishes out of the dishwasher, stripped and washed the bedclothes and remade the bed, took the recycling to the center, stopped at WM on the way back. And after all that, I ate my lunch and collapsed for 2 hours. When I got back to the groove, I made a batch of "Jim's egg thingys" and breakfast is ready for the next 10 days....or for company if I get any!
I didn't have a doggie and I didn't even hear from them today. She must have been tired or they just spent the day communicating and loving up each other! When she showed up, he was all over her like it was something he didn't expect! Don't you wonder what they think when they are left with someone else for a while!
Tomorrow I'm going to church in the morning and then we'll see what the rest of the day brings. Tonight, I'm going to hit the haystack! I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one!

A lot of it probably depends on where we live as to what we call things.

Good morning.
Light rain falling here and will keep up for most of the day. Good day to play catch up on naps :)
Pulled most of th carrots yesterday and IF I had of planted them with spacing we would have some big ones . There are big one out there but a lot of small which I can going to cut up and freeze to put in the dogs food. The rest I will just bag and keep in the fridge.
We have been watching the devastation on the east coast, those folks may not get power for a week or more. One lady was washed out to see...house also were lost. Wind ,water and long with fire can change ones life.
Neighbours are home from their granddaughters wedding..I did have fun looking after their furkids. I take a lot of time with Rex as I know each day is a blessing.
A day of rest here, will deal with the carrots and that is it......coast the rest of the day.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning Everyfriend...and a special Good Morning to you LLOYD. I think it's amazing that you are still here on earth to greet us! You have not had an easy life.
I have to go get myself ready to go to church as soon as I finish my coffee. I have to be ready when Cathy comes to pick me up. She drops me off there and friends bring me home afterwards. I'm grateful that I can still go. I'd really miss not being there on Sunday. It's nice that they can broadcast it but it's just not the same as being there.
We're supposed to have a rainy day today. Right now it's 57º and not supposed to get above 70 and rain is predicted off and on all day! I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
P.S. AMY you beat me posting! Good Morning!

Special Weather Statement issued September 25 at 4:01PM AKDT by NWS Fairbanks
...Snow Possible Across Eastern Interior Monday Into Tuesday...
A mix of rain, snow and cooler temperatures is expected across the Eastern Interior from Monday into Tuesday. Rain and snow will develop Monday morning from Tok south, and then spread northwest to Denali, Fairbanks, and Ft Yukon by late Monday afternoon, and to the Brooks Range by Monday night. The rain and snow is expected to taper off Tuesday.
At valley level, such as in Fairbanks, snow should melt as it hits the ground. At elevations above 2000 feet, between 2 and 4 inches of snow accumulation is possible between Monday and Tuesday.
well good Night and seet deams. I just red but am too tired to make a post to reply. mabey try tomorow. the heat got to Nancy worse than me and she said lets go home so we did, and never stayed for the cake cutting. I am sure it was good, over the years I have had lot of wedding cakes severial of my owen, but something for you to work on as to how much cake I have had. Nancy is my first and fifth wife. but no more for me. we have been togather + side of sixteen years this time, that is enough for me. good night and sweet dreams.

I'm definitely NOT ready for snow! As far away as Fairbanks is from me, I don't think I have to worry about it yet. But I did bring in my birdbath in case of a quick freeze.
The gold finch that I went eye-to-eye with yesterday at the bird feeder was there again today but he had company and when I went out to fill the feeder they all flew away!
Cooper will be back tomorrow very early so I'm off to the haystack. I did a bit of paper work today and read a lot. I watched one show on TV. It was an old Roy Rogers show with Gabby Hayes in it. I love those old shows. And my sister, in all her family registry, says that we are very distantly related to Gabby Hayes. He was quite a character!
We had the tail end of a thunderstorm this evening. I think it might have lasted about 10 minutes with wind and heavy rain and then the sun came out again.
I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. And may God bless us, every one!
That thunder storm just went past here - heading NorthEast
well I had another of those sleepless nights. I got on here and viewed the deavastaion of the damage back on the east coast, well looking at ther damage, I think about the saying how sad I was I had no shoews untill I seen a man with no feet.what i seean onley one woan lost her life, a four old boy was missing, but they found ham and he was alright with only miner ingeory's. Just count your blessings.

Good morning...
Starting out at 50° and it is going to be a rainy day so they say.
I did manage tp put away all the carrots we need plus cooked some up to freeze for the dogs. Then say and sewed, just have a little bit left to do then label and get the quilt ready for a new home.
We are heading into the city meeting up with Bri and giving her the carrots that we are not needing plus some other things I picked up for them. Will pick up items for a friend and they will get them tomorrow.
Jane, we know that ***** is coming...I am not looking forward to the dance. I am thankful that the snowblower does the work.
Patricia, love the comment. :)) Please keep the **** there.
Best put an egg in my boot and beat it...
Enjoy your day and stay safe..
Good Morning Everyfriend! I've begun watching for Cooper's arrival from inside the window. Anything under 60º is too cold to wait outside on the swing in my pajamas...even with a sweat shirt over them!
He's here for the day and he's begging for the last of my breakfast and then he'll head for the door to wait for our walk. He knows the schedule better than I do!
Not sure what today will bring but I talked to Cathy already this morning and we have some plans for the coming week. Now I better get on my horse and get moving or this day will go to pot!
I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Hello...Hello...Hello....[/b]Hellooooooo!
I've been in to read a couple times (got up at 3:30am) puttered around & finally ate a JimmyDean sausage, egg & cheese biscuit & had a cup of coffee. Tiger went back to bed as soon as she got me up so I headed back to join her BUT... All of a sudden my tummy decided it needed to get rid of that breakfast so promply did such. YUCK! Only time in my life I ever threw up was when I had Covid and when pregnant (pretty sure neither is the problem). I don't feel sick so now it's lunch time, to eat or not to eat. I'm not eating enough red meat/protein and that is my biggest problem ever, but meat has not looked good in the stores. Ever since having Covid whatever I eat has to sound good to my head or it just won't go down, never had that issue before Covid.
Has anyone see a post from our Florida Friends? Sounds like this is not a good week for them. Prayers for all in danger. Keep us posted when you can, thoughts will be with you.

It has been a lazy day around here. Weather really nice for most people but a tad hotter than I prefer (81). Bring on winter, to me it's easier to keep up with snow than that green grass growing so fast! That reminds me, better get an empty 5 gal gas can to fill when I fill the car this week, have 2 dollars off regular price, 35 gal each dollar & must use it by last day of this month. That is a savings of $75 but have to use the whole dollar each time so I check with a grand & his significant other to see if they want to meet & fill each of their cars. We (most people) line up & pass the "spout" to the next car until it shuts off automatically. Almost a game but nice way to stretch the money. My car needs gas & the snow blower will take a mixture, my son does the mixing & have a couple neighbors that polish off MY driveway for me & get to clean off their's. The snow blower is about same size as the Toro battery powered lawn mower so will have to do some garage switching, need a bigger storage building!
Bubble, I did some research about these Jewish Holy Days, wondering why Christians didn't carry them on like so many of the Jewish/Christian holidays. I loved it when Don spent time visiting you and between the two of you, would post photos of all that delicious food and explain the services.
In MY world I am sure that the God I pray to appreciates how anyone shows love and respect for His life and kindness, so with my pitiful knowledge, I bid you: "Happy New Year." The equivalent in Hebrew is "Shanah tovah," (pronounced shah-NAH toe-VAH) which literally means "good year," (and my Missouri twang doesn't work well with anything but the English language!) I mean that with sincere good will for all your family.
I went to sleep during Perry Mason and woke up half way through the second Emergency show. I guess I was tired. Got a lot done today but it took some time and energy. Cooper won't be here until a little before 11 a.m. tomorrow so I can sleep in...I hope!
I wish you all a peacefulr night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one!
Good morning everyone,IT IS 45º here this morningning @ 5:05 AM, and clear sky, well the honey mooners, changed there deretichon for there honey Moon, the hearcaine on the coast in florda , so they got a rezort in minisoita. wow the aleargey,s are realey making my life miseriable this morning. dont usualy bother me but are eating me alive this morning. Have a great day just the way you like it. I do not normsly be bothered but my blood sugars are alo reay high this morning, normaly under a 100 but this morning was 275, I am going to call the saw bones at va this morning and see if they have a good reason for it.
Lloyd
Good morning...
Calling for more rain again today. Yesterday we had a bit of rain but also the day was a sunny one at times.
Playing catch up today..always something needs to be done before winter sets in.
Lloyd.......food puts your surgar up...potatoes, white bread ,cake , pie ,cookies and the list goes on. I know it is not easy to cut back on what you have enjoyed in the past years but.. My friend has cut back on what she eats, yes she will have a small sliver of pie not the whole slice. This is just the odd time for a treat. She had canned tomato soup and found out it was loaded with sugar so watch the labels on the food. You can get this under control it takes time and work.
Jane, I could go back to bed and snuggle under but two dogs say to get up. Babe will wiggle up close to me and paw and if to say you in there???
Better get the day rolling.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
I'm up and had my coffee and my breakfast (one of "Jim's Egg Thingys") and the bed is made. I'm not dressed because I have to get a shower in before Cooper shows at 10:45. I might have overnight company. Frankie works until 7:30 today and then has to be back in by 7 tomorrow morning.
LLOYD, My grandmother and my mother and my sister all suffered from Diabetes so I understand what you're going through. They all made substitutions in their diets for things they knew would raise the numbers. And AMY is right about watching what you eat. It's not easy but it let my grandmother live to the age of 84 when her expectancy was about 69! It's amazing what you can do if you try!
I'm off to get my day going! I wish you all a good one...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
Jane's James Eggy Thingys = JET so you have a JET for breakfast :))Go power!!!
Good Morning,
Adding my 2cents worth to comments to about blood sugar...
Lloyd, any food with carbohydrates can affect your count. No need to stop eating all carbs but it is necessary to watch how many you eat at one time - or during the day. You might ask the VA if you can contact a Diabetic Dietician. He/she can help you manage this.
There were six pairs of cardinals at the bird feeder early yesterday evening...and one extra. Hope the feral cat that wanders around didn't get its mate. (Sorry, Shirley, but those of us who enjoy bird feeders really get :tickedoff: at the neighbor who leaves her garage door up a bit so a mom/three almost grown children ferals can sleep and eat there.)
News said that we could see details of the planet Jupiter just after sunset last night. Several gathered outside to look and had fun visiting but Jupiter didn't rise far enough for us to see it before we needed to go in.
Hope Everyone had a Merry Monday and will have a Terrific Tuesday.
Trust me, Callie, this cat mom DID NOT leave a door up for those critters to get in. I was horrified what that one did that I did not know was in.... it must have sneaked in when we were doing something in the back yard & when they get trapped, they freeze & don't move till they feel any human is long gone. We never did see it when cleaning out it's mess so just as sneaky getting out. My wonder is how it survived several days without ANY water! I've put moth balls in storage area, even under wheel well of the motorhome & in the one storage place they hid out in (enough space for them to climb under the siding & no way to block it).... Makes me sick at my stomach to see animals so starved but I do not want to be responsible for them and don't think I should be the ones to call Animal Control when they must be hiding out most of the time in the empty house in the neighborhood. So far we've paid to have 4 "fixed" and 4 others trapped & hauled off to be put to sleep (at which time I cried my eyes puffy).... These cats were never to come inside the house but 12 degrees below zero & they wouldn't go inside the warm hut Cas created for them because it didn't have an escape back door.... and I don't want to run up against that again! Nobody else willing to deal with them even when I offered to pay for their getting "fixed" & being given to someplace else. Ferals are not adoptable.
Callie, I just got back & re-read that post of mine & it sounds like I was angry... not at all. I just am so upset at having more cats to deal with I have been kind of put out nobody else will do anything about them. Like you, I'm a bird lover first and threw my broom at a neighbor's cat that used to raid the bird nests in our berm. We fed the ones we adopted so much they didn't have to hunt. When Tiger dies I will get a dog and that should end any more ferals showing up in MY yard. Old LaurenKat, first one adopted, used to bring Cas a mole or whatever makes the tunnels under ground, lots of mornings. Cas & the guy next door bought traps to catch the moles but never had any luck... but old LaurenKat brought him 3 in one day since she noticed HE wanted them! The guys put away their traps. ;)
From Lloyd..
well I amgoing to try again, the grimlans got me again. on wensday sept. 28 th @5;32 AM we are @ 56º and clear. hope ypu all are haveing a better day than i am. it seames if it waseny for bad luck i would have no luck at all . see you all later,

Good morning...
Not much sun to show today ,that's ok. Working indoors today. I have a cupboard that needs cleaning and throw out outdated items which I am sure that some need to go.
Used up the bananas that were on their way out and now are mini muffins....just pop in mouth size. Neighbour gave me a dig about bread, said if I make, don't forget him....so that is another job on the list...later.
Crows are gathering up and it has been a while since I have heard the loons on the lake. Dropwing (crow) was here in the Spring but that is the only time I saw him .:(
Enjoy your day and stay safe..
Good Morning Everyfriend! I was so tired last night that I fell asleep on the sofa and then decided that it was time for the haystack. I did my "getting ready for bed" stuff, said good night to Frankie and Cooper and I hit the hay!
It's 52º and cloudy out there. I think Cathy said we were going to hit the Farmers Market sometime today. I guess I'll get ready and just hang around until she texts that she's on the way. I can just do some odds and ends that need doing until that time.
We have lots of feral cats around this area but so far, the presence of dogs in my yard have kept them out of there. We do see them on our walks. There is a camper trailer park down the street and they hide out under the trailers. There's also a vacant house down the other way that draws them. The one good thing about having them around is that there is no sight of skunks!
I guess I better get moving. I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.
Good morning; 31 degrees here with a heavy frost. leaves have colored, but none have dropped, so it doesn't look good. I've been a permanent cat foster for nineteen years, twenty in November, and I've taken in the worst frightened, abused, neglected, and unadoptable cats, all ferals, and given them permanent indoor-only homes.
Farrah found on a sandbar in the middle of a glacial river, hid under my bed for six months, and, for a month afterward, would give me six or more foot space until she learned she was safe. Alan called her my ghost kitty.
Dog Breeders like my sister had plans in place for the returns of dogs she sold for seven to nine hundred dollars each. All they had to do was call, and she would take them back. Routinely she would get calls from local animal control all over the country of abandoned dogs, or ones turned into dog pounds. It's the primary reason she left the business.
My friend John who lives out on Murphy Dome, had multiple dogs abandoned on the roadside that he found homes for. He routinely gives license numbers, and the car makes from cameras on his property, leaving animals he sends to police, but they can't do anything.
Cats and dogs are abandoned like trash and must learn how to survive. They result from careless breeding, ignorance, cruelty, and momentary fads. Several of the animals adopted at the height of Covid are now back on the streets, no longer wanted. Many with the microchips attached. We're a throw-away society that doesn't believe in neutering.
Shared from my post in Norm's...... Just a quick check in to let you know I am still alive and kicking‼️
We have enjoyed a wonderful trip. Going to the funeral on Saturday and seeing family and friends was so nice. What a shame these events only occurs at sad times but what a w day of celebration of life we had🙏🙏
On Sunday we left Naperville heading East thru Chicago to Indiana, then turning north for my dream vacation of going to the Grand Hotel on Mackinaw Island. As we passed through the Grand Rapids area I thought of Norm, Dot and Mary Ann. I always hoped seeing them would included with this drive. 😩😩
We enjoyed our day on the Island on Monday in spite of all the rain. When I was rocking in the rocking chair on the beautiful veranda, the sun came out for a few minutes and it was delightful. Yesterday, Tuesday we drove across the Mackinaw Bridge and entered the UP of Michigan. What a beautiful area.
Our time is winding down. We are in Green Bay now and of course we stopped as we entered Wisconsin to buy some cheese curds! We visited Lambeau Field. They only do tours on Friday and Saturdays of home game weekends😩😩. This IS definitely not a home g@me weekend @ the p@+k will be in London. I wanted to get inside to spread a little Bronco juju around, ya know🤪🤪🤪🤪
I hope you all are doing well.
Jenny
Good Morning,
Jenny, what a delightful trip you're having! That area was on my "Travel Bucket List" but I "aged out" before I could get there. :(
I agree on sad occasions being nice for family get-togethers. Makes for good memories.
Shirley, Patricia, etc. I probably sounded as if I don't like cats. I do like them but not when they're allowed to wander around the neighborhood using flower beds for bathrooms and stalking around bird feeders. Those who rescue the feral ones and KEEP THEM INSIDE are to be complimented.
Neighbor and I spent a lovely evening on her patio. We've both noticed a lot of tiny bees around her fountain and my hummer feeder. (I'd had to have a "discussion" with one who insisted on "supervising" my filling suet feeder and cleaning bird bath earlier in the day and she had had several who didn't like her watering the flowers next to the fountain).
They've emptied the hummer feeder and I plan to bring it in for the season when it's dark enough for the bees to call it a day. We're advised to take those feeders in around the first of October anyway - to "encourage" the hummingbirds to migrate.
Son/dil are currently at the beach in Orange Beach Alabama (dil says you step one way and you're in Florida - step the other way and it's Alabama). She posted a picture of the beautiful Gulf water with a clear blue sky overhead and said the cloud bank on the distant horizon was the hurricane. Fortunately, it won't be anywhere near them - although they have had some wind on the waves. Hope their flight home isn't affected - although I don't think they'd mind "having" to stay a few days longer. ;)
Have a Wonderful Wednesday.
Good morning...
Shiver me timbers it is cold out there 24° at the moment. I put the pepper plants that were in pots in one of the trugs with a cover and hope they did survive the chill.
Quilt delivery this morning then home to scare the dust bunnies...can I call them bunnies when they are made of dog hair???
Jenny, sounds like you are enjoying your time away.
Patricia, there are people out there shouldn't own animals. I do think the penalty should be stiffer for them abandoning pets. I have enjoyed many an unwanted pet , some purbred from people that didn't want them once they were out of the "cute" puppy stage.
Jane ,we have seen a few skunks on the road...dead skunk on the middle of the road. Also a lot of racoons.
Better get it into high gear and go
Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend! It was down in the low 40s overnight and will only reach 65º today. I know, AMY, that would feel warm to you but it feels a tad chilly to me!
We went to the Farmers Market yesterday and I got a pumpkin to cook for pies or whatever and green peppers and 2 breaded haddock filets. I made the filets with some fried sweet potatoes and canned corn and I have 3 more meals to go! I'm definitely having one of them for my supper today and maybe freeze the other two for a couple of quickies later!
I have the pumpkin cooked and cooling right now and maybe I'll make a pumpkin pie later and freezed the rest of it for other pies.
AMY, good new name for "Jim's Egg Thingys". I'm probably going to be calling them "Jets" from now on! I'm going to run that name past him and see what he has to say about it!
Cooper arrived at 6:45 this morning and will be here until around 4. She is off tomorrow and is thinking about coming over to give him a bath. She only has a shower at her apartment and she tried it once there but says it's too hard to keep him in there when he's soapy and wet. I don't mind her doing it here. I get another visit.
I read everything but my timer is about to go off and I have to get back to work. Callie, I think of you and how we sat at the window and watched your bird feeder every time I look at my feeder.
I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
Jane, your mention of pumpkin brought back a story Bri told me. Canned pumpkin was on sale so she was stalking up on it 10 -12 cans of the pumpkin. An oldr gentelman( likely our age) saw what she was doing and said someone is going to be baking. No, she told him they are for my dogs. She saw the questioning look and told him.....the pumpkin keeps them regular!! :2funny:
I couldn't help but wonder did he buy some pumpkin!! ;D
Good morning; we're on a warming spell presently, out of the thirties with 42 for our overnight low. But it won't last long. I noticed yesterday morning that our leaves had begun falling, and our overnight frosts were extensive. Today, with our warming trend, there was no frost, and the snow stayed above 2000 feet in the foothills.
I've read of the effects of hurricane Ian which has devastated Florida and will move further through the south next week. There has been a lot of devastation and wild videos, not the least one showing sharks brought by the storm surge into the streets of Naples. Florida and thrashing in the waters.

Patricia, I have been watching the news and the devastation in Florida! Makes me so sad to see what has happened....no water...no sewer and no home! I can't imagine how long it will take to rebuild.
well we are home from VA , got new state of art hearing aids. they provided a reamote with themm that i can controle them with it. volium up or down one ear or both, small i can carrie it in my shirt pocket. but the good part is i can heare. aii this reamiends me of a persoin in the past, do not rember his name but the funnie part was hes , he did not tell the fokes about them.he said it was so much funn to stand in the back ground and listen to whet they were saying about him and others. now that is some food for thought. Nancy was with me so that wont't woork, but sounds like it would be funn.

Lloyd...
...yes, sounds you missed a trick there...but you can still play it... ;)
Lloyd, I remember as a child I sat by my Grandpa in the livingroom while he was on a bed...he wasn't well. Everyone was out in the kitchen ,Grandma and Aunts and they were talking about Grandpa. One thing was said and I looked at Grandpa (he was hard of hearing, no hearing aids) he looked at me and raised his finger to his lips...........he had heard what was said but didn't let on to them!!! Wasn't long after he passed but I never forgot the raised finger nor the twinkle in his eyes.
Florida or at the beginning of what's left

Good morning..
Woke to a blanket of frost...28° at the moment.
A bit of work outside then work inside today.
Patricia, what took months to build has now been reduced to matchstick in minutes. Wind, water and fire always hold the upper hand in this.
Jane, how was your trip to the market?
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Ian is nearly on top of us but, thankfully it is not as strong as when it hit Fla. It is wet, windy and unpleasant. We haven't lost power yet, anyway.
Phyllis, stay safe.

Time to hit the haystack. Good night Everyfriend. I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow! Tomorrow has to be better than today!
When daughter is in town she keeps ALL of us busy! No nap today & I am dragging. Had/have another water leak in a copper pipe in the basement. Son & wife's best friend had similar leak a couple weeks ago & the plumber she used said the city had done something causing pressure on "old copper pipes" (this house was built in mid '60s) & this is the 2nd copper pipe to have leaked "out of the blue" recently.
Got the de-humidifier & big fan running to dry out the wall & floor where the "drip-drip" has been going on for ??? long. Day started out real good, got the pool cleaned & done by 10:00 am & was perking along until I went down to the sewing room to look for thread to hem a pair of slacks for youngest son. The store he usually shops at (same as his father) closed as well as his dry cleaners that will do any alterations or repairs for him, so I volunteered my services. His father used to buy a new suit or slacks, have them altered & bring home to me to do a little fine tuning... like less than quarter of an inch shorter or longer on one leg & the waist band had to fit perfect because he didn't like a belt to do anything but rest on the belt loops, no puckers.
Anyway, I was digging through several thread baskets & kept smelling a musty odor... & THEN I noticed the parquet floor was buckled in one spot, the floor was wet & "heavens to betsy"... there was a wet spot on the wall/sheetrock! It has been a very slow drip for a long time. #1 son came right over & diagnosed the problem & managed to stop the drip, but I'm not good with all the extra to-dos right now and feel awful even letting my son take time out of his busy life to do for me.
Tomorrow I'll be heading to the basement to check the drip & then shower & wash hair before anything else. Soon as stores open I will take that pair of slacks to the nearest fabric store to match thread, then back to get the youngest son set up, he volunteered to vacuum the spiders that have covered the brick all over the house. I hose them off in the front but don't want all the icky stuff to wash into the pool. Then I have to pick up a friend on the other side of town to go the the little town about 30 miles beyond where we took paintings a month ago. This was just show, not sale. We have to pick up in a one hour period because the art guild is setting up another show the same day only opposite side of town. I'm not doing that one, thank goodness.
And now I am off to bed before anything else happens. My heart goes out to all the people dealing with the flooding, I think I'd just sit down and cry! Hugs to all. Phyllis, stay safe. Announced today that the bridge I use to go from my house, down Back Bay Blvd will close this week for over a year, for repairs. It has always been crazy to get across the river but will be a nightmare to have that bridge shut down so long.
Sweet dreams & God Bless. Love y'all......Shirley
