Becky went outside and got some spectacular photos of the Super Moon and its gorgeous pathway reflection in the Chesapeake Bay.  I carefully printed out and filed the instructions for posting photos that Bubble sent me some years ago, but maybe I'll just have to send her a picture.  I so not even know Where that place is that we used to view such great people and places in so long ago now.  I am into senile dementia , which keeps me from remembering to do SO many things@

HAPPY LABOR / LABOUR DAY to EVERYFRIEND 🇺🇸 🇨🇦

We have kept busy with the grand dogs here.  Managed to leave them home Saturday evening to join a special cousin and her husband who are camping at a local reservoir. Their spot was perfect and the weather cooperated and it was a nice cool evening. We did not get to do campfire time 😩 due to the doggies being home alone, but we ALL sure enjoyed our time together.

Yesterday, we packed the dogs up and headed north, just under one hour to spend time with our youngest grands and their parents.  Love to get to spend that precious time with my boys❣️ We went to a splash pad park and watched all the fun the kiddos have in the water.  The little guy sure loves it🥰🥰. Then dinner with them before heading back home.  Lovely time❣️

Dr. Dave and family return home from San Francisco today after a delightful time with our youngest son and his wife.  Last night they shared videos of them Ubering to dinner in driverless cars😱😱 Both grandsons got to sit in the front seat and I can not wait to hear how strange it must be having no driver...especially to the oldest one who is a driver himself‼️🤣
They all, of course, had a wonderful time together .  It made my heart happy🥰

No plans for today.....just taking it easy and enjoying our blessed life❣️

MARILYN, I am so pleased to report that my epidural shots have worked on my hip back and leg pain🙏

Enjoy this day.

Yesterday was a near perfect temperature wise....today will be a bit warmer but still nice.  There is a noticeable chill to the air here early mornings and evenings.....NOOOO, not ready for fall just yet‼️

Enjoy your day ‼️

Hello Jenny -  YES, I'm one who's ready for Fall,  although it comes late here, compared to other parts of the Country.    I'm always glad to see one season go, and the new one arrive . . . especially happy when Winter fades away and Spring is here.  That's the best!     Good to hear that the epidural shots worked for you this time, and that you're feeling much better.

Mary Page - I enjoyed seeing Becky's picture of the Super Moon!  It looked like a professional photo for sure.  Hope you're feeling well, and that we hear from you again soon?

MaryPage

Thank you, Bubble!  How very sweet of you!

We have suddenly been thrown into the hottest days yet this summer!

An unwished for surprise and a horror.

Chip became very ill in Seattle and is in hospital there.  Abigail checking up on him every day.  Becky has extended her stay with me, and Debi has been coming over to spell her.

MarsGal

Sorry to hear about Chip, MaryPage. I do hope he recovers soon.

Denver

Good morning 🌞

Their is a crispness to the air this morning for sure‼️

MARILYN, the change of seasons are ALL very special in their own right.  I am just NOT looking forward to the cold and snow😩😩

Nothing new around here.....can't believe it is Friday again.

MARYPAGE, I am sorry to read that Chip is in the hospital in Seattle.  I do hope he will feel better and get back home safely to you.  Shucks....that's no way to spend a vacation 😩

Enjoy your day 💐

Mary Page -  So sorry that Chip is in the hospital in Seattle!  Hoping that he has been been discharged by now, and is recuperating at home with Abigail.  Best wishes and prayers, for a complete recovery, and that you will be seeing him soon.

Thank you for your commiserations regarding Chip;.  I have, of course, been almost beserk, but his Abi has saved his life by getting him in the BEST hospital out there, or so I am told, as I have no information of my own.  He is back home with Abigail after serious surgery, and will be there until the doctors no longer have a wish to examine him.
Then he will come back home.

I am told Seattle has a severe homeless problem, and the hospital is ultra busy.  What a sad, sad world our little ones are having to come up with these days.  Life for my childhood was bland, innocent, and was as pure as, or more so, than Ivory Soap claimed to be.

One of my great granddaughters, a sixteen year old, happened to pick up on the fact she was being stalked by an older man when she drove to nearby store. In the store itself, she saw him following her around.  Finally, she notified a clerk, and the store swiftly took over and escorted her to her car and saw her off.  I am so pleased with her parents for going over that kind of stuff with her. I am so pleased with her for her good sense and with the store for taking this matter seriously.

Marilyne

Mary Page - Hoping we hear from you again soon, as to how Chip is doing?
It will likely be a long time, before he will be feeling well enough to fly home?  I know you're missing him very much, but it's good that your daughters are there, and taking good care of you.

Tomereader1

MaryPage, your 16 yr old granddaughter showed an intelligence way past her age, most 16 yr olds would not have noticed, nor would they have reported to store clerk.  Hurrah for her, and for her parents/grandparent who have taught her well! Send her a big Hug from me. Yes, it is so sad that our progeny are having to face such terrible, day-to-day problems. I remember a time when my nieces and I could ride our bikes for hours, go to a local park, explore the beautiful, treed creekbed and get home without a care in the world, except a slipped bicycle chain!   My best to you, as always, to your Chip, and all the many MaryPage descendants that I so enjoy reading about!

Denver

It is much cooler out this morning and several "peaks" have snow already😩😩

MARYPAGE, I am sad that we have to deal with situations like your granddaughter had.....thankful that she had the presence of mind to recognize what was going on and get help.   Prayers continue for Chip.

There is a LOT of Covid and RSV cases here in Colorado.  I agree it is something we will be inoculated for yearly, just like the flu shot.  I don't know if the RSV is a one time or if it too will be yearly🤷  We did get the flu and RSV a couple of weeks ago, and plan to get the Covid ASAP.

We are traveling to Boston this weekend to visit family and wish we could have had the Covid shot before then😩

We are heading out for a bit of shopping and maybe lunch.  Tomorrow I will be getting another epidural shot in the left hip bursa.....hope it is successful like the ones in my lower back🙏 we just got the information on the shot I got in April of this year....the shot was $3800. and Medicare paid $3500....OMG,  no wonder Medicare is running out of money😩😡 I had no idea these shots cost so much‼️

Have a great day‼️

Thank you Marilyne, Tomereader and Jenny. Tomereader, the really sad thing is that when I comment on how safe things were back in the day, I can tell that some of my listeners put it all down to my losing it.  Sad.  My daughters & I were speaking of how great the "old days" were recently, and they commented on how when they remember their youngest years, they think of being outside playing.  They were perfectly safe, and all ages sometimes played together.  They played all manner of non-electronic games.  Hide & Seek, tag, Red Rover, and SO many more.  We did not have to teach them or lead them in any way: the older kids were the bosses.  And none of them dared come home until it was time for their peanut butter sandwiches.  If they were injured while playing, the nearest house with the nearest mom in it would take care of the wounded, give them a bandaid and a cookie, with a pat on the butt and a shooshing out the door, and off they would go.  Anything worse would merit a phone call (no cells or mobiles) to the real mother.  In all except the extremely serious cases, we were all moms to any  and all children in the neighborhoods. It was a Way of Life.

MarsGal

I have to agree with you MaryPage. We walked to school, spent lots of time at the playground, went from one end of town to the other, up into the surrounding woods behind our homes, went down to the creek, etc. without adults chaperoning. The worst we ever got was poison ivy and a few bramble scratches. Now I watch the kids walking a block or two to the bus pickup with their parents and shake my head. Sad. Well, I guess the upside would be that the bus stop just may be the only time current parents get a chance to talk to their neighbors.

The big news here is the manhunt for an escaped convict. He is a clever guy who has so far eluded all efforts to corral him and has now managed to steal a rifle with scope and ammo. You've probably, by this time, seen some of the news about him.

MaryPage

MarsGal

Well, most of the excitement if over now. They finally foung him with a little help from a thermal imager curtesy of the DEA. The tactical team kept him bottled up overnight and then ended up turning the dog loose on him. Surprisingly, he only had one small bite wound as a result. I wonder if Brazil will petition to get him back, since he escaped them too.

I've started looking into apartments again, and my RE agent is coming over tomorrow.

Marilyne

So sad, that the world will never return to that carefree time that we all remember.  As our generation passes, and then our children, even the memories will be gone and forgotten.    :(

MarsGal - Good to see this morning, that the escaped convict has finally been captured.  I'm sure that the people of PA are very relieved!

Denver

Good morning💐

It is feeling very "fallish" around here.

I got my bursa shot yesterday as planned and it went great‼️ No way was it as uncomfortable as the lower back ones, so I was a happy camper‼️  This morning I am feeling like I do think it helped. 🤞🤞🤞🤞

Hurricane Lee is causing us some concern as the timing of its arrival around Boston is at the same time we are due to land.  Nothing we can do about it🤷

We will have Dr. Dave's doggies tonight and tomorrow as well as the responsibilities of helping out with grands to and from school and dance. We will do it again the day after our arrival home from Boston😻

MARSGAL, we have been watching the news about the manhunt all along and I sure was happy they finally found him yesterday‼️

Guess I better get a move on......things to take care of are calling my name.

Have a good day.

Jenny - Good that your bursa injection was successful!  Now you can relax and enjoy your Boston visit with family.  I admire the way you continue on with your travel plans, regardless of your many painful health issues.

Mary Page -  Let us know how Chip is doing, since his emergency surgery? Hoping he's back home again and will be recuperating in familiar surroundings?

MarsGal -  Keep us posted on your ongoing search for an apartment?  Hope you can find the perfect one soon, so you can start making plans for the future.

MaryPage

Marilyne, thank you for asking.  Chip's latest reservations call for him to fly home on September 27/28, arriving here early in the morning on the 28th.

I am in high hopes the hospital will release him this time around.

Becky will fly back to Missouri on the 23rd, having been here way longer than she had originally hoped, and Debi will come to spend the nights with me until Chip does indeed get back.  If for any reason she is called upon to spend that time with her husband, who is ill with Parkinson's, we will pull in our promises from other family members here.  I do so want to see Becky home with her family and garden and all of the wonderful things that make HOME the best place in the universe.  I am sure it will all work out well in the long run, as Chip is deeply desirous of getting home himself!

Marilyne

Mary Page -  Everything will work out well for Chip, and for Becky, Debi and you too.   It will be a big relief when Chip is back home and you can all resume your  normal life!  These unpleasant situations happen,  and always take us by surprise.   It's good to see everyone pulling together for a good outcome!  Thinking about you, and looking forward  to hearing from you again when everything has settled down at last.

MaryPage

Well, here we are with September 22nd, and Debi is sick in bed with one of those humongous chest colds that make you sound like Tallulah Bankhead (anyone remember her?)  Becky has changed her flight plans so she can stay here 5 days longer.  Anne is looking after two of her grandchildren, and dare not expose me to them.  I am getting doubtful the hospital in Seattle will release Chip; but then, he is not all that young, albeit I think of him as being so.  He is nearly 60, and my baby.  You really feel old as all get out when your children are old.  With GREAT grandchildren now who are college graduates, I guess I need to accept my frailties and get on with my ancientness.  Scheesch!  I PROTEST!

Marilyne

Mary Page - Great news that Chip will be flying home later this week!   Hoping all goes as planned, and your lives will all be back to normal again.

Yes, having GREAT-grandchildren in college really does makes you feel old.  Virginia, my oldest GG, is in her second year of college this year.  Her brother has just started his Freshman year with a four year Baseball scholarship! It looks like he has a promising career in his future.   My other "greats" are still in high school, and the very youngest is only 16 months old.

MaryPage

Marilyne, I am impressed with your great grandson for qualifying for a Baseball scholarship!

My son Chip has always been a huge baseball lover.  When he was so desperately ill last month, I had one of those dreams that felt totally real and in it Chip had just died (my biggest fear at that time) and his sisters and I stood around his body and broke out in appropriate song.  We sang "Take Me Out To The Ballgame."

Well, he got well and is finally home.  Arrived here this very day.  Becky has flown back to Missouri.  It will take Chip & me a while to adjust to one another and for him to accept my long list of additional ailments since he left 2 months ago, but we will, one small step at a time.

Sandy

MaryPage so glad to hear that Chip has returned from his
longer than planned trip to the North West.  I hope that
he is recovering from his long stay in the hospital..

I hope that you all get back into your rhythm  so you
both can help one another.

Again I have been neglecting my friends here as
I have been fixing up my apartment which has required
so much time and work including reorganizing everything,
again.  The biggest change has been to my bedroom which now
has a smaller bed and much more free space to live in.

I really love and appreciate the changes that I have
been making.  The work has tuckered me out, but it has
been worth the effort that I have put into it.

Happy  Weekend,  Everyone..

Sandy

Denver

A good October greeting to ALL🍁

We had a wonderful time in Boston with our family. I was able to swim in their beautiful pool for the first part of our time there.  Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate😩😘

Our son has recently built a stone fireplace in their yard....referred to locally as a "chimney"‼️  We got to be there for the inaugural fire‼️ We managed to have a couple more fires that included a rainy mist😘

We were there mostly to enjoy our time together but did manage to go to two different museums. Isabella Stewart Gardner and Massachusetts Fine Arts Boston.  Both were very enjoyable.  We watched a four part documentary on the "heist" of the never recovered art before we went to the Gardner one and we were so happy we did as it was good to know details of the stollen art before we went.

I had another pain injection last Monday in my S I joint and it really helped a lot.  I am so pleased to gave relief from my lowe back pain.  For differs injections and I can finally say YEA....THEY WORKED‼️

I hope this finds you all doing well and enjoying a nice fall🍁🍁

MarsGal

Hi Jenny! I am so glad you had a good trip and visit with family. I remember reading about the Gardner Museum and the art theft years ago, probably in an issue of the Smithsonian, but memory fades. I've never been to Boston, only to Cape Cod and up along the coast of Maine.

I am feeling ambivalent about having my largest pine cut down. I am almost sorry I had it done, but on the bright side, it opened the backyard up to more sunshine and an opportunity to plant a small flowering tree or two in better spots. I like dogwood and redbud. I don't see as many dogwood as I used to in yards, and never saw many redbud. Most of the redbud I see are wild, long the country roads. The dogwood may have been one of those trees that succumbed to some virus or another some years back, like the birch trees people used to plant. Recently I heard that Bradford pears are on the no plant list here now because of some disease or other. Anyway, I will have all winter to investigate what is allowed in PA now and what won't get destroyed by the Lantern Flies. Oh, another shrub I remember that went onto the PA banned list is the barberry. What a shame, losing all those old-time shrubs and trees that I was used to seeing everywhere when I was a child. Now back to the pine. It was infected with carpenter ants, but not as badly as I thought.

Marilyne

Jenny -  Glad to see you checking in.   sounds like your Boston family has a lovely back yard - now complete with "Chimney"!  Is it a fireplace, as part of a barbecue, or just strictly a place to sit and enjoy a warm fire on a cool night?   Good that the pain injections have worked so well for you.  Hoping you can continue to have them as long as needed?

MarsGal -  It's so hard to make the decision to have a large tree removed in the yard.   We've had to do it a few times over the years  that we've lived here.  Now facing the possibility of having our large Redwood tree removed.  WE lost a lot of branches and small limbs during the terrible wind and rain storms we had last Winter, and brown needles have been dropping all Summer long.  We need to have the Town Arborist come out and take a look at it, and then we'll decide.  The only tree  I can think of that's banned in California, is the Eucalyptus - all varieties.  They're highly flammable, and have  been the cause of many destructive wildfires in the past 20 years.

MarsGal

I haven't posted in here for a while, and I see no one else has posted either. So ---- Updates.

The tree people still haven't made it over to remove the stump, I may call and cancel that since some extra expenses have cropped up.

Of course, more fun has arrived in the form of yellowjackets in the house. My pest control guy sprayed where the nest was and in a spot that may have been a place for them to get into the house. Well, they are still getting in. Fortunately the most in one day has been six and they are being kind of slow and nonaggressive (odd for a yellowjacket), easy to swat. Another guy is coming in a few hours to check out the attic where they are also getting in. This guy is part of the pest control company's "exclusion" program to plug up holes and such that let bugs, bats, birds, et. al. to get into the house. Another extra cost that I would rather not afford right now, but it has to be done if I don't want them showing up next spring.

It is getting close to my sister's surgery. Today, I am going with her to a pre-op seminar.

This apartment hunting business is discouraging. The rents keep inching up every few months. The waitlist for  what I am looking for from one apartment complex is eight or nine months right now. I finally discovered how much I need financially to be approved. They want applicants to have three times the rent in verifiable income to consider someone. That puts me on the edge of not being able to afford it, I think, and this is not as expensive as the newer apartments they are throwing up around here.

While I love having my groceries picked and delivered to my home, I did notice that it encourages me to buy/spend more. Add that to the food price inflation. I was horrified at how much I spent over the last month in groceries. However, some of it is cat litter that I was ordering from Amazon. Amazon's deliveries have been a bit less timely lately, not to mention the boxes seem to be getting a bit more banged up along the way. I have had more stuff delayed or sent but not delivered when promised. Meanwhile, Chewy must have a distribution center nearby because when the send the auto-ship order, it arrives the very next day, and the boxes are never damaged or with packing tape not holding. So, depending on who has a sale going on the brand I get, Chewy or the grocery store, I've pretty much shifted cat litter from Amazon.

Weather is chilling down. For the most part, it is staying below 70 now. Currently (7:50am), it is 41.
