I am too much of an invalid these days to keep up with when Easter is coming.  But, Oh, how I used to love my Easter baskets back in the day.

And then, later, putting them together for the children.  Yesterday, my 4 biologicals were all here and they got some wonderful photos on their phones.  Wish I could send you one, but I have learned this old dog cannot learn new tricks.  I do not now, and never have used a cell phone.  They seem to do everything except wash the dishes, these days.  I do absolutely no social media other than SeniorNet, and have not been as active with that as I should have been as an original.  I used to go, back in my active days, to a lot of Bashes.
Why did we call them bashes?  I cannot remember.  I know JENNY was a vibrant young blond back then.  No reason at all why she would remember me!  Speaking of cell phones, I heard a long discussion of a new book written by someone in the brain trade that says, basically, our children and our civilization are all going to hell in a basket due to the time and angst they fill their lives with by way of cell phones and social media.  I cannot recall ever experiencing being upset over this place.  Norm's, with him holding down the fort, was my main bunch.  Oh well;  I have no regrets;
and am quite sure Facebook and the rest of 'em have prospered just fine without me!

Denver

GOOD MORNING.

I started a post here yesterday, but no sign of it this morning 😢

MARYPAGE, you know well that I remember YOU and very fondly, I must add.  I often reminisce the wonderful times we had at our "bashes"‼️ I have no idea why they were called that‼️‼️ oh how I wish we could go back and relive them again‼️

JACKIE, I apologize for not wishing YOU a HAPPY BIRTHDAY on YOUR DAY❣️
I also wish we could go back yo that special day we met in London and enjoy it again❣️

I have been watching the news about the bridge collapse....What a tragedy.....so sad as it will be a very long time before they will get that crossing rebuilt.

MARILYN, the grands are all doing very well, thanking you for asking.  Our oldest grandson graduates from HS this year.  He has had a very busy senior year.  He has been accepted into many colleges but there are two he is now considering.  Both top rated business schools.  Granddaughter continues to dance, dance, dance.  Last weekend she won a scholarship to a prestigious dance company that she will now be involved in this summer and throughout the year. She also made student council as a freshman next year when she starts HS. Quite an honor.  The littles are growing up much too fast.  They are so much fun to be with but they can wear you down with all of their energy.  Sadly, they are going to be relocating next month as their dad has accepted a new position in AZ.  We will miss them being less than one hour away, but we will visit them often‼️

I must get a move on as we have a busy day planned.

I wish you ALL a good day.

Thank you, Denver Darling who used to be from Arizona.  By the way, for anyone who attempts to look me up on those old lists, I was MaryPage COBB back in those days.
Now I am MaryPage Drake, but then again, we no longer have Bashes.
Some of the bashes I still have materials from are the Williamsport. the Virginia, and the International. I have an email from Norm in which he is agreeing with me about Papa John's alarming health bulletin.  Remember Papa John?  Those two were a Dangerous To This World twosome, I swear!

Denver

A GOOD FRIDAY greeting to all. The last two days we have been on the run....seems I take much longer now to recuperate‼️🤣

Had balance class, PT and a doctor appointment all on Wednesday.  Good news from doc appointment as I was able to get two injections on my left and right hip bursa joints and they are already feeling so much less pain.  I just hope and pray they last for awhile🙏🙏

Oh yes, MARYPAGE....I was an Arizona person back in those days but have returned to my home state of Colorado over 25 years ago.  I sits miss Az winters....one of our sons and his family will be relocating to Prescott AZ in May so we will be returning there more often.  Since my daddy passed away we have not been there in two years.  I miss ol Papa John and Norm as well as so many others that have passed one😩😩

Happily sent off our taxes today and paid our car tags‼️‼️

Headed out the door to go get Bob's drivers license renewed.....he is 80 and can no longer do it online😩😩 Seems a lot of things change when one turns 80🤷

Have a good day‼️‼️

If anyone noticed I've not been in here, (or even cares, LOL) I have been watching the Women's Basketball Tournament.  Out of the first 16 games played, I watch 13 of them in total, and missed parts of the other 3 because I failed to realized the time they were posting was ET and not CST, so I was an hour late for those. I watched 8 more games, and I would not win any "bracket" competition, as I am 50% winner/50% loser.watched all day today, and the last game of the Sweet Sixteen is playng now with UCON ahead of Duke. I always root for UConn.  I will be in a real quandry when the Elite Eight gets going, as I have several favorite teams there, Texas, LSU, Iowa and UConn if they win tonight. So at some point, when all is said and done, on April 7th, I can get back to watching regular TV, and read without staying up till 2:00 to get my reading in!  Hope you all are having a wonderful Easter.  See you down the road![

Thank you, Rammell, I have been enjoying!

BTW, found a new Peet's coffee flavor.  It is different, but somewhat good. Almond-Honey blend.  Probably not to your taste, but I'm gettng used to it till the bag gets empty! LOL!  Since Peet's was on a digital coupon special, I thought I would try this new one.  I still haven't tried the Big Bang variety, should I?

RAMMEL

I like the Major Dickason's Blend. . Have plenty on hand.

My sister disappears when Tennis tournaments rev up.

I hope everyone is having a nice Easter.

Weather here is sunny and 48o and is expected to be up around 62o. The humidity is about 67.

Marilyne

Happy Easter to everyone.  Hope you're all looking forward to a warm and pleasant Sunday.  Easter is the first Spring holiday of the year, and is usually sunny here, but not always.  Cold and raining this morning.

Tome & Rick - I like to try some of the different "designer blend" coffee's also.  I haven't seen the Peet's Honey Almond flavor, but I have purchased the Big Bang, and I like it.  Right now, my Mr. Coffee, is brewing a pot of Dunkin',   (Dunkin' Donuts) blend.  Delicious, with no bitterness, no matter how much you use.  It was on sale at Costco this past month,  and
wish I had  bought more.  I haven't seen it in any of the grocery stores.

Tome - you never mention Stanford women's basketball when you're talking about your favorite teams?  They usually end up being at or  near the top.  I do like watching college sports much more than I do the pro's.  St. Mary's is another team that we like here in Northern Cal.

Mars - For years I followed tennis, and always looked forward to the big tournaments, like Wimbledon . . . but I got tired of watching the same old winners, year after year after year.

I have to get ready for a long day today.  Both daughters are co ming over, and will prepare a nice Easter dinner for all of us.  Lots of pretty eggs, and plenty of tempting sweets!

Tomereader1

No, Marilyne, I know I don't mention Stanford in my "favorite teams".  I guess they, and their "superstars" don't get a lot of publicity unless they are a number 1 team in the playoffs. This Tournament, they did play and get beaten by  North Carolina State.  Earlier I watched Texas Longhorns get beaten (10 points) by that self-same North Carolina State, who will now play in the Final Four. Texas was ranked #1 in their Division, so you never can tell who's gonna come out on top. I think California will be well-represented by USC -vs- UConn.  I did watch my Baylor team get ousted by USC, and USC played very well.  So they have a chance against UConn.  That will be a good game on Monday, as well Iowa -vs-LSU, which I think will kind of be a coin-toss, both teams are awesome.

Today, April First, is my younger daughter's birthday.   She endured a lot of teasing on this day,  when she was growing up. :(   It's unusual when her birthday falls this close to Easter, but extremely rare  when it actually falls on Easter itself.  Only four times since 1900!

The new week is looking like Spring is finally here?  Not a cloud in the sky, and looks like the sun will be shining once again.   Speaking of the sun . . . I'm wondering if anyone who posts here,  will be able to witness the upcoming eclipse on the 8th?  It will not be visible here in N. California, but those of you in Texas, OK, and along the East Coast should get a good view??  Keep us updated on anything of interest happening before the actual day.

CallieOK

I hope each one of you had a lovely Easter!

Marilyne, Happy Birthday to your daughter.  :smitten:

The total eclipse will cross the far southeastern corner of Oklahoma, which is all small towns but has become a resort site.  I've read that all sites are fully booked and they expect 100,000 people to be in the area. There are no major highways into that area so traffic will be challenging.
I think the OKC area will have 69%.  However, OKC weather gurus are saying there's a possibility of cloudy weather across the state.

Sorry I haven't posted but have had some pain issues from my neck to elbow on both sides and other things coming at me at the same time.  Will try to do better - but not promising. :-\

Marilyne

Good Morning Callie . . . Good to see a message from you, but sorry you haven't been feeling well.  We all understand how sometimes  health issues can make it too difficult and painful to post a message.  :(

I said yesterday that the eclipse will not be visible here in CA, but I was wrong.  Just a thin edge to the right, but enough that the protective glasses must be worn to see it.  I hope we hear from some of our S&F members on the East coast, who will have the best view.

Jenny . . .  Good to hear from you a few days ago.  I'm hoping you'll write more often, to keep us updated on your health, as well as on your family.  Thanks for commenting on my Easter picture on Facebook.  I tried to post it here, in the Photo folder, but it looked way too big and blurry, and I had no idea how to make it smaller, so I ended up deleting it.

MarsGal

It has been raining all day today with occasional foggy conditions. Since I was busy finishing my taxes (Yea!) I didn't notice if it got darker or not. Guess I will have to view the videos that people post on YouTube. I've been keeping half an eye on the bridge salvage operation and the Icelandic volcano saga in the evenings.

Sorry to hear you are still having pain issues, Callie. Other unwanted/unexpected things coming at you certainly don't help. I am hoping Springs' arrival (sooner if possible) will bring better outcomes and happier times for all of us.

Denver

A good Wednesday evening HELL0.

Busy week already.  Today we had the next to last balance class. It has been informative and we have enjoyed meeting people in our community. This afternoon I had a low back MRI done.  we arrived a half hour early as there have been some sever traffic issues in the area.  Found out after our arrival they were running nearly one hour behind😩  No biggie....and they were extremely apologetic about it.  I was 5 minutes late to an appointment last week due to traffic and they cancelled my appointment.  Every other time we have been to this clinic they have never called me on time.

CALLIE, I am sorry to read about your health issues.  I can sure understand you not being able to post often. Hope you get some relief soon.

We have been watching a ton of BB here also.  Nothing else on to watch 🥰🥰

Going to call it a night. Sleep well 😴

Marilyne

Good morning everyone.  It's a beautiful day today ... even though it's still cold, foggy and rainy.   I see it as a nice Spring day, in spite of the fact that Mr. Sun, has not put in an appearance in a few days.  He will appear later today in all his glory!  If not today, tomorrow!    :sun:

Mars -  Speaking of the sun, will you be able to have a good view the eclipse, from PA?  Looks on the map like it will be good, providing it isn't too overcast.  I plan to go to Walgreen's today and get a pair of NASA approved glasses, even though we'll only see a thin sliver here in Northern CA.

Jenny -  The balance class sounds good, and likely something we could all benefit from.  Hoping the MRI of your lower back will be okay, and that you're feeling much better.  Hard to believe that your oldest grandson will be graduating in June!  Will he be going to one of the big  University's or does he prefer something smaller?

Joanne -  I guess March Madness is over??  Sorry I didn't keep up with basketball this season, but hope that your favorites did well.  Hockey is #1 here, so the winning teams are moving toward the Stanley Cup finals. (The Sharks will no t be participating.) :(     Baseball used to be  "America's Pastime", but unfortunately it no longer is.  I like it best because it's  easy to follow and beautiful to watch.  Very relaxing and  non-violent.

Hoping we hear from others today, and that everyone is enjoying Spring, in spite of the weather?

We just enjoyed a 4.8 earthquake. Unusual for around here, but we do get an occasional one. It centered just north of Whitehouse Station, NJ. About half way between here and Jane. I felt the house vibrate but am glad it wasn't my furnace mis-firing.

Rick, a 4.8 earthquake is quite a jolt!  Enough to get everyone's attention, and maybe knock over a few items stacked on grocery store shelves.  We haven't had one in quite a while, out here in Earthquake country,  but it's about time.  You may get a few aftershocks.

MarsGal

Didn't feel it here, Rammel. We are in a different geological zone, I believe. We did feel the earthquake that centered in Virginia some years back. The whole house swayed. By the time it hit me what was going on, and thought it would be a good idea get downstairs, it stopped. I think a few of the plaster wall cracks extended a little, but I can't be sure whether or not that was my imagination.

Marilyne, if it is not cloudy we should be able to see a partial.

Tomereader1

Two more March Madness games tonight, Women's Bracket.  Winner of each of these will go to the Final, National Championship, which will be on April  7.

Yes, we are supposed to get a good look at the Eclipse.  A neighbor of my daughter's, was at church on Sunday, or maybe another day, as she works there with kiddos in the daycare...anyway, she said people from California have been calling, wanting to Pay to park in the Church's parking lot for the Eclipse.
I don't know how big their parking lot is.

Also, today I went up the street to get to WhataBurger 2 blocks, and the traffic coming in off the freeway was worse than any Friday before a Holiday. It was only 2:00 oclock, and the regular rush this way doesn't occur until between 4:00 and 6:00.  A lot of the businesses in the smaller counties are actually closing on Monday to keep the traffic down even if it means (for restaurants) a loss of money).  Many traffic personnel are being hired here to keep traffic flowing -- we are warned not to stop on the highway (now, don't you think common sense would tell you that?)

Marilyne

I got up this morning at 6:00, and the house felt like the inside of the fridge.  Looked at the backyard  thermometer, and it was 36 degrees out there!  Then I looked to the East at Mt Hamilton, and it was covered with snow.  :yikes:
Now, five  hour s later, it's 52 outside,  which is better, but there's still a strong North wind blowing.  Supposed to be in the 80's by Wednesday, which sure sounds good to me.  Then we'll start complaining about the heat.  ::)

Joanne - I've been reading about people from here,  heading to Texas. No hotel/motel rooms left anywhere in the state of Texas.  I just hope it's not cloudy or raining, so all those hopefuls can see the eclipse!  I can't imagine driving that far, for only two minutes of viewing, but if I were younger I might be more enthusiastic.    People will probably be parked everywhere,  in all the neighborhoods around Dallas,  sitting and waiting.

Rick - Hope you haven't had to endure lots of aftershocks from your quake yesterday?    Speaking of the eclipse - looks like you'll have an almost total view in your area of New York?  I think Sandy, in Maine, will also have a good one?

RAMMEL

I have not felt an aftershock here. But R Jr said he did last night while he and accountant were doing his Taxes. I don't think we will see the Total Eclipse here. We're a bit South of the Total. But will get an "Almost".  However, we will have a total soon/tonight as the sun drops below the Western Horizon  :2funny:

We had an earthquake yesterday . . . but hardly worth mentioning, after   the big one in NJ and NY.   Ours was only a meager 3.3, and was centered in Berkeley, which is about 30 miles North of here.  It was on a minor fault that gets very little action.

So Rick, you're still way ahead, and I'll be happy if it stays that way.
Hope you have  pair of NASA approved glasses, so you can see the eclipse tomorrow?  It looks like you're in area that will have a good view? :coolsmiley:
Callie, yours will be even better!
Joanne, your view will be the best!

RAMMEL

I have observed in the past that when there is a big earth quake somewhere, as there was in Taiwan recently, there will be another or others elsewhere. While I have no way to prove it, I thought of that when I heard about the Taiwan quake. I have no idea if this is a known, proven, or accepted theory.

Morning everyone. Looks like the big eclipse put everyone to sleep here yesterday.  :sun:

This week I am trying to organize my stuff without much success. It looks like I am going to need to acquire something to replace the small drawer/bin cart I left behind due to lack of space. I still have to have somewhere to stash small desk items and such which are now homeless. My computer table does not have any drawers. Also, I am on the look-out for a storage bin or two to put on my kitchen table to hold kitchen towels and hot pads and such. It seems the ones in this kitchen doesn't have much in drawers. This whole apartment move thing is having me rethink what I brought and what I actually need to make things tidy, efficient and convenient to hand. I was aghast at the prices for even simple plastic storage bins these days. I am hoping to put some of my basket collection to use, but none of them have lids or are the wrong size and shape for good use. The one that has seen immediate use is my rectangular wicker laundry basket. It fits just perfectly next to the bedroom door which is right across the hall from the washer/dryer unit. The round plastic laundry baskets will find other uses or get pitched eventually. It is soooo nice not to have to haul laundry up and down two flights of stairs. And, I find, that I don't need as many clothes to fill this tiny washer dryer unit. I really need to weed out more of my clothes. I won't need my garden grade (aka: old and cat-holed) tea shirts and jeans, for instance.

What is everyone up to this last day or two. I am sorting and storing as best I can right now to make room  for a new piece of cat furniture. It is shorter than the one I pitched before the move and will fit very well under the window. Unfortunately, it is faux fur, like the last, which I find difficult to clean properly.
