So much going on. Thanks for the news about Bubble, sorry she is sick. With this virus so wide spread it is hard to think about something else catching up with us.

Jean, it hurts to the core when someone we love is fighting a losing battle. The prayers become, "Please, Lord, don't let them suffer more than they can stand".... All the time we watch as those closest wear down with the worry and stress. My sincere sympathy for all the family.

My daughter called while ago, she heads home next Friday, but all of them went for a hike in the Shenandoah Valley today & loved it. She sent pics along the way and you could see the joy in everyone's faces at being out to explore their new area. She said she has been getting texts from her youngest brother as they bike in Colorado. Must turn on my cell phone, dumb me, had forgotten. I never have it on unless I want to use it.

Callie, I've been off & on here with phone calls & don't know for sure if this is where you mentioned getting half way on the memory book. Smart idea to use different background color for the years or times of life. Would love to see the finished project.

Few years ago one of my sister's gr-daughters volunteered as a firefighter & traveled with a group from her state to fires on the west coast. She has a forestry degree or something and sounds like an active type. Think it was said they were air dropped behind the lines. I have trouble keeping track of my own grands so not sure what she does now.

It is heating back up in Kansas, spoiled us with a few cool nights. Between the virus, politics & weather... not been a happy world this summer. Time to get the bread out and go feed the fish & talk to them a while. They are like a bunch of kids the way they splash & flop all over each other to get the bread. There is a brown thrush that talks to me every night, used to be up by the house but guess it doesn't like the cats. A cardinal follows me up & down the hill to chirp at me. Somebody must be feeding them all the time, don't see them at my feeder as often as other years. We have some new, young people that moved in this past year, see them walking or riding bikes around the neighborhood. Think they are finding life along the river offers more wildlife. My world today. Shirley

Return email from Jenny ( Denver )

" Thank you for letting me know that the site is up and running. I manged to accidentally shut off my links when they would not open and i had a hard time getting all of them back open. I just did it, so hopefully i am all set. "

Bubble...
... if you read this, my thoughts go out to you for your medical - sickness issue recovery...

MarsGal

Sorry to hear that Bubble is so ill. My best wishes to her for a full recovery.

It is terribly sad to hear that Jason's treatments are not working, Jean.

I am keeping an eye on those two weak hurricanes (now listed as tropical storms) in the Gulf of Mexico. It is an "interesting" situation with the two possibly crossing paths, though not at the same time. Some areas are going to get more rain and wind than they would like with two storms hitting in such close order.

I saw that the CA governor is also requesting help from Canada to fight the fires. In other reports 10 states which are sending firefighters including Arizona, Oregon, Utah, Nevada, Idaho, New Mexico and Montana.

Marilyne

Good morning everyone!   The good news here, is that help has arrived from bordering states, and crews will soon be here from Canada, as well!   I hope this will turn things around, ASAP, and that the fires will soon be under control.  Trucks and firefighters from Nevada, Oregon, Idaho and AZ.  The Canadian crews are probably from BC and Alberta.  Another dry lightning storm is predicted for tonight, so of course we're all hoping that it doesn't start a whole new round of fires.

Hello to all who have posted so far, and hope we hear from others as well. I'll return after I get the kitchen cleaned up, and have a shower.   It's already 10:00, so I'd better get a move on!

FlaJean

A bright sunny day so far.  Our highest temperatures have been in the upper 80s in the last few days although it supposedly feels hotter due to humidity.

Marsgal, we are also watching the storms.  Marco has been updated to a hurricane.  So far our area is not in the path and I hope it stays that way.

In 2004 we had several hurricanes come through Ocala but by the time they got to Ocala (near the center of the state) it was mostly uprooted trees and some wind that caused the damage.  Now we are living about 10 miles from the Gulf.  Looks like Laura is headed for the Florida Keys.

Marilyne, good to hear that help is on the way.  My heart goes out to all those who are devastated by these terrible fires.

Jackie, although the trip and moving has been hard, you sound like being back "home" is good.  Just praying that everything will work out and become better.

Joy, I hope you are feeling better. Jenny, miss your posts and hope everything is good in your part of the country.

Beverly, I know you'll be watching the weather, too.  Hope you are feeling well.

Sandy, I know you lived in Florida a few years.  Think what you are missing---hot and humid weather and summer storms.  (But I love it here.)

I am so sorry to hear about Bubbles being ill.  Sure hope she is better soon.

Thanks Patricia and Amy for keeping us informed.  If I missed anyone, forgive me.  I think of you all.

A Good Sunday morning HELLO to ALL. So happy to be back in the link with all of you, thanks to Angelface  and Jackie for sending me snail mail telling me that we are up and running again😘

Not a lot new around here.....forest fires are still very bad here in Colorado and all over the west😩😢  The smoke is terrible and everyone needs to stay in and keep all doors and windows closed.

My kitty nailed me, well actually he bit me,  on my hand a week ago and it became quite the infection right away, so I am on antibiotics again.  Have not been on any in many, many years and now I have been on them twice this month🤪

We saw Mark, Megan and Jonah for more than likely the last time before they leave for the new job in California.  We had such a fun visit with them in spite of the fact that the little guy fell coming up the step on our front porch and scrapped himself pretty badly under his chin.  Daddy tried to catch him, but his hands were full and he ended up slipping and made Jonah land even harder.  Thanks be to God, he did not hit his mouth on the corner of the step....so it could have been so much worse😩😢

Yesterday our oldest grandson turned 15 years old❣️  I know many of you remember the day he was born.....I was convinced I may never have grandchildren and now we have been blessed with SIX.  Matt is anxious to get his learners permit to be able to learn to drive, but due to Covid there are very few appointments available and he,will be having to drive nearly to the northwesters part of the state, to Craig to get the license and that will be on next Friday.  They have to have this learners permit for one year before they can proceed to getting a license.  Moral of the story he will not be getting it on his 16th Birthday, but a week later. 🤪

Covid numbers are coming down again here in Colorado, so many things are being loosened again.....

JACKIE, I am sorry you have been having issues with your provider, but just SO HAPPY you are OK and not having worse health issues keeping you away.  I was definitely trying to get back in but I did not have my saved spot to just go to and click in, s9 if I was getting in, I sure did not know...it is, as many know and feel the same way, that we are lost with out our SS Family.

I am very sorry to read about BUBBLE being ill.  Thoughts and prayers for her and we hope to see you back here VERY SOON🙏

JEAN, we are watching the storms that are in the gulf and certainly hope and pray they will not be very destructive ones!  I am also very sad to read that the latest chemos that Jason has tried are not working for him.  He is always in my prayers and my heart aches for all of you.  Michele just told me that her oncologist was wanting for her to wait a couple of MONTHS to start on the maintenance Chemo and she begged him to please not wait that long after her experience with the last time they thought they could control it with oral chemo.  In less than six months the cancer had returned in several places in her body as well as that golf ball sized tumor on her brain....she returns to the oncologist in two weeks to hear the plan.  No matter what, anyone that is or has dealt with cancer knows that life w8ll never be the same.  One is always waiting for that next scan to hear what their fate might be.  HUGS to you🙏

SHIRLEY, just wanted to say that I am aware that Andy has my number and I just dread the day that I may get tha5 call, but will be thankful that at least I will know, unlike my concerns about Jackie, and how we will ever know about her😢

I really must run but I just want to say I am so happy to be back up and running again......at wish you all a good rest of your Sunday.  ENJOY 😘

I lived on the West Coast of Florida for
seven years.    In the Village of Long Boat for
a few or those years and Bradenton for the
rest.

I loved it but my younger two kids were
teenagers and I felt the need to return home
to Maine for help with my family...
I haad no faamily in Floridaa ( but lots
of friends who had moved down
there about the same time i did ..

I liked living there.   If I had had more
family there,  I might have
stayed.  But alone on my own,  I chose
to come back home.

I don't regret living there and I
don't regret returning back home to Maine.

Best wishes to everyone,  and
I hope that Bubble is feeling better
soon.

MarsGal

Marilyne, I forgot to ask. I heard that Australia is sending fire crews as well. Have they arrived yet?

Jean I haven't checked the weather yet this evening, so I guess Laura is coming farther East than what I saw this morning.

Most of today I have been reading, watching some St. Clair shipping and messing around on the computer. I don't have anything in particular scheduled for tomorrow, but Lucy goes to the vet on Tuesday for her semi-annual blood work.

Our cousin in Florida sent Sue some more stuff he found on our family background. Most of it we already had, but there was some info and pictures we didn't. Sue hasn't done much work on her project lately so this will probably give her some impetus. In the meantime, I did a Bing search on Wightman family (and my Dad's middle name). And this time found, right away, info on the Whitman/Wightman family in Rhode Island where our ancestors landed. Finally, I know how/when a family branch got to PA from RI and found they settled in what is now Dalton, just north of Scranton. We are supposedly related somehow to Roger Williams who was the first governor of Rhode Island as I recall.

Jenny...
... you are right, i have no one to alert you all if anything was to happen to me, such as hospital or death...
I am now estranged from my alcoholic age 51 next month daughter, ( our both agreement ) and recently sent a short letter to my 31-32 year old grandson with added mobile number letting him know i have now moved 140 miles and just a short few miles away from him ( we are now in the same County ) and letting him know i have added him as next of kin but, as yet no phone call to me...He has not been in contact with me for almost 6 months now, ignoring my email wishes to my great grandsons 5th Birthday a couple of months ago, also ignoring my Birthday last March...I have yet to see - meet my great - grandson, he does not even know i exist..

Grandson is also estranged from my daughter, his mother...

So basically i have no next of kin... My Richard was my one and only, i am totally lost and by myself now he has gone from this earth... My Richard would have taken care of my cremation had he still been alive but now i have no one to send me off, when that day comes..

I am sure many ( UK ) are in the same or similar boat as me...I would give anything to be a part of a loving, caring, close knit family... i can only live in hope, cant i? that one day this may still happen...Well as my late father often said to me " never say never, girl."

So please, all you S & F's members make every day with your close knit families count, you are truly blessed, they " are worth their weight in gold, " as my late father often would say...

Getting a tad concerned over our missing Bubble with her illness - medical issue, now been 8 days...

Marilyne

Jackie - I was thinking about you after reading your message earlier this morning. it made me wonder if you have someone like a lawyer, who you could designate as the person to handle things, if you should suddenly pass away?  Since you don't trust your daughter or grandson, then someone not connected to your family could be named to see to any arrangements, as well as a list of people you want to be informed?   If those desires are notarized, then they would be carried out as to your instructions.

Jenny - Good to see your message!   I didn't realize that Mark and Megan were  moving so soon!   Still a couple of hot months left in the desert communities, but they will have AC and plenty of swimming pools, no matter where they live.  Late Fall, Winter, and Spring, will be delightful there!
Sorry your cat bite became infected so quickly!   As you know, sepsis is a big worry as we grow older!  A small insignificant injury, can suddenly become serious.

MarsGal - I haven't heard about any fire crews from Australia.  Usually the crews from other States or Provinces, arrive in their own trucks with their own equipment.  However, firefighters from far away areas like Australia, the East coast, and Alaska, have come here in the past. They would join or relieve crews that are already working.  Right now, the crews are working 24 hours plus,  non-stop, and they need help.

Jean - I've lost track of your hurricanes?  Seems like there are so many this year, but most seem to be headed for States, other than Florida?  As you might guess, our news is taken up mostly with the wildfires, then followed by all the Political happenings!    Hard to believe that the election will occur in just a little over two months!

I'm hoping so much, that someone tells us today about how  Bubble, is doing?  It sounds very serious and I know we are all worried about her, and praying for her recovery.

Marilyne...
... i have added a short handwritten note and added it inside my Will, but i do need to add it to my Will to make it ( more legal and more protected that this note wont go astray, ) this will be more expense to me...

Marilyne

I posted a Folk Song quiz, in the Trivia Quiz section of Village Clubhouse, the Place for Fun.
Take a look, and take a guess at two of the songs.

JeanneP

My estate is now a Trust.does more than just a will. My family all so far away. I just take care of things as been on my own over 50 years?
I have the grave site close to me. Soon as this thing gets were things can be done. I will take care of the burial part with the under taker down the road. Get the stone set. Pay for all that has to be done. As it is written No funeral.  If possible 24 hour burial. My family know these wishes. The are into cremations which I don't agree with. And so I will aria he that.
I have a good attorney. But do need to make a few changes to my estate. Need to put the new car and home titles into trust. Out of stocks now and into just money. No liabilities. Keep things paid up to date.
Gone pitch dark here so must be a storm coming
JeanneP

Beverly

Marilyne - I've been watching the wildfires in the news. Still looks very bad. Is the smoke a big problem where you live? You're right. I wouldn't do well with smoke in the air. Humidity is also a problem but I'm inside with the A/C most of the time.

Jackie - Adding the note to your will is a good idea. Are your final wishes listed in the will? There must be some way for a person alone to make arrangements. You are right. I am very blessed to have a close knit family.

I am also very concerned about Bubble. I hope we'll hear from her soon.

Jenny - You will miss Mark, Megan and Jonah but how wonderful that you were able to spend some time with them. Once this virus is over (praying for it to be soon) you can fly out to visit them. Two of my daughters would like to come down but are concerned about possibly being exposed on the plane and then exposing Chape and me! Life these days is complicated. Donna and Michael self-quarantined at home and slept in the car (air mattresses in their SUVs) on their way down. We do lots of talking on the phone (sometimes hours! :)  )

MarsGal - I love doing family geneology. Do you use Ancestors.com? My daughter and I researched a match on our pages and found the connection. You know the saying "Be careful what you wish for"? This one was a total surprise and I'm only sharing it with my immediate family.

Jean - I've been thinking of you and watching the storms....one of them could turn out to be quite a hurricane. I hope they stay west of the Panhandle. My sister-in-law in the Tampa area is concerned they may get some bad weather. Like you, I love it here and would not move back north (willingly)  :)

Sandy - This has been a hot summer for New England. Hope your A/C keeps working!

angelface555

MarsGal

Bev, neither Sue nor I are seriously into genealogy enough to join Ancestors or other websites you have to pay for sites. I don't know if our cousin does or not, but his main focus is on the Hamilton side of his family. He sends Sue stuff on the George side when he runs across it. I just do web searches every once in a while when the whim strikes me. Sue is scanning old photos and documents we already have. Our Uncle Lou did a lot of research back before the internet really took off, so he actually spent time delving into various local archives when trips took him near locations that may have old documents and such.

I see we are going back up into the 90s a few days this week. My friend in CO sent me an email yesterday telling me that all that smoke from the fires in CA and CO are headed East and recommended I put my car into the garage to avoid getting ash stains on it. I hope we don't have any heavy rain this afternoon because Lucy has a vet appointment. The vet is still not allowing anyone in the clinic. We must wait outside for someone to come get the pets or bring out meds.

Marilyne

Beverly and MarsGal  -  I am one who really likes my Ancestry membership.   I joined a number of years ago, and have really enjoyed the time spent, and the relatives I've connected with.   I never knew anything or anyone on my Dad's side of the family, except for my paternal grandmother, aunt, and grandfather. (divorced from my grandmother.).

My Mother's side, was/is a whole different story!  My maternal grandmother had six sisters, and five brothers!!  As you can imagine, my second and third cousins are many!  My Grandma and her sisters were all close, so I knew and loved all of them very much.  My Dad's side . . . a big mystery, until recently.  I heard from a 2nd cousin, who is my age.  Her grandfather, was my grandfather's brother.  I have learned so much about the family, thanks to her!   I'm very grateful to Ancestry, because it gave us the opportunity to connect and get acquainted.  I wish we lived close enough to meet, but we're on different sides of the country, and too old to do any traveling.

Beverly  -  The smoke in the air is better today.  Still hurts the eyes and dries up the throat, but better.  The fires are still blazing, but now partially under control.   I have lots of cousins who have been evacuated, and one whose house burned to the ground.   My sister-in-law, also had to leave her house in Forestville, by the Russian River.  In spite of the ongoing fires, I do think there is an end in sight.

Denver

OK.....I posted something yesterday and I do not see it!  Now what did I do?  I also posted in the Soda Shoppe and it is not there either😩😘

I commented on a few things that I wanted to after reading all the post that you all did before I was able to get in.  Then I told you we are working on something that I would tell you all about after we got the final word and I asked for your prayers that if we are suppose to go through with this then it will work out.....and if we arbor suppose to do this it just will not......well here I am a full day later plus some hours and we still do not have a answer.  It is a glitch on the other end that is holding things up, so hope you noon tomorrow we will have our answer!  God willing.

It continues to be hot and Smokey here. We are on day 65 of temperatures in the nineties this year.  I think it will go on record that this is the hottest summer in Colorado ever!  The fires are still terrible here in the west.  Sadly, others are having the hurricanes.....I think we are being told some this with all these tragedies going on in our world😘

It is after midnight so I hopefully can  post this and head off to bed.....sweet dreams to all.

... i do believe that if something is meant to happen, it will happen but, in our God's time, and not ours...This has been my life these past 16 months, my life has been like the pieces of a jig-saw puzzle fitting together to reveal the whole picture...where i am not in control of this jigsaw, nor can i speed this jigsaw puzzle up, it is out of my control...

If i was to be asked to guess, i feel you may have a " moving home " on the cards...I am aware this was something you and Bob had considered in the past, but had been put on hold for the time being..

Added to say, my jig-saw is not finished yet...

Missed a mobile phone message from my new GP surgery this morning, got back to the surgery now giving them my new BT landline phone number...Something about Doctor wanting to speak to me about my recent vampire blood sample home visiting nurse took from me last week...anyway told me the name of the female Doctor who will phone me back sometime today...

Nurse told me i would only hear if there was an issue, so now a tad worried of what blood sample has shown...
Last time, a month ago, back where i have moved from, GP surgery told me blood sample showed low kidney function...

Good Morning Everyone,

Well I guess school started. I can't tell. I haven't seen any school busses. East Pennsboro School District set up two different online learning options, one is online learning and the other is livestream. There are some qualifications for each. I assume the classrooms are open. I will be curious to see how this will shape these children's futures, especially with the lower classes being exposed to more intense learning through computers and the internet.

Here is an experiment in education the Chinese are trying. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMLsHI8aV0g Interesting but scary.

JeanneP

I anyone will figure out how to do their Education. It will be the chinese. Brightest people in the world. Best educated. We have lots of them in our school and they win all the awards.  We should take a look at the way other countries teach. Here  they only really go to school for 8 months what with the summers off and all the days through the years. They most we ever got in UK was now more that 30 days a year. Even during the 6 years of war we got better schooling than what is happening here in the Pandemic . Lots of place are using it as a Excuse for anything they don't want to mess with.
I use Comcast for my Tech things and right now Internet, Tv and WiFi is all messed up. How are they suppose to Learn at home or even in Schools part time.
We are now known as the worse country in handling the Virus and next will be the ones with the worst schooling. Really Sad. we are now,no longer the Richest country. This was what the people seem to have been the proudest of being...

Heard on noon news that Oklahoma City is sending help to Houston area as "Laura" gets closer.  Glad California is getting help from other places.

Hooray for the news that Bubble will be back!

Did something this morning I hadn't done in.....probably 10+ years....I made a rum cake. Had to hunt for my bundt pan and, naturally, found it in the last cupboard I looked in.
Son is coming for our usual bi-weekly "dinner date" and it's his Birthday Eve so I asked if he wanted the same thing he requested when he was about 9 or 10, which was Hot Dogs and Rum Cake.  Brother and Dad turned up their noses at the combination but had no problem eating.  :)
Son's answer this time was "hot dogs - no.  Rum Cake - YES".  So we're having slow cooker pork loin and the requested rum cake.

Sandy, I don't understand how anyone can actually sleep in that Apnea test atmosphere. Unless I'm exhausted, I need a dark quiet room in order to fall asleep. Sure couldn't do it hooked up to a bunch of machines unless I was drugged.
Hope your results turn out well.

Jenny,  weather guru reported a slight haze in our air due to smoke from Colorado and California fires.  Guess it gives us an idea of what it must have been "back east" during the Dust Bowl days.

Marilyne and Beverly. Just got an e-mail from the Metro Library saying that access to Ancestry.com will be available free until September 30 with our e-book i.d. and password.  The link also indicates access to Historical Newspapers and I fully intend to take advantage of that (incentive to finish the photo album  )

Speaking of which.....off I go to add a page or two.

Hope Everyfriend Everywhere is finding something to Enjoy about today.

FlaJean

Here I sit reading a book with the TV on the Weather Channel set on mute.  This hurricane is missing us, Beverly, and it looks like a bad one.  Larry has a niece in Houston and a nephew in Beaumont.

It is bright and sunny.  Yesterday was our 64th anniversary.  We heard from all the kids but didn't do anything differently than usual.  It isn't worth taking the chance going to a restaurant in this pandemic.

Sandy, I'm interested in your sleep test.  My youngest grandson (in his 20s) has been diagnosed with Non-24 sleep disorder.  Usually blind people suffer with that but occasionally it happens to others.  He takes Melatonin but it still is a problem.

Jackie, I'm glad you are hearing from a local doctor and hope everything is OK

Marilyne, It sure is good to know that the fires are not as bad and that help has arrived.

It is good to know that Bubbles is better.  Well, I think I will go back to my book and hope everyone is feeling good.

Denver

Wednesday afternoon already!  My goodness the time sure does seem to fly.

Such wonderful news that BUBBLE is feeling better and will return tomorrow.

JACKIE, I hope by now you have heard from your doctor and know more about what they are concerned about after reading the results of your blood work.  I pray that it is nothing too serious, but off course you are concerned.  BTW, you guessed right, we are involved in a RE deal, and what a mess it has turned into.  We are STILL waiting for the word of if our offer has beeN accepted! Bob has had about enough with the selling agent and he is ready to say....forget it!  Word is, the selling agents computer died on him yesterday afternoon.....so he has been unable to get the offer to the lady selling for a signature, and in turn get it to us.  He is to purchase a new computer and hopes to have it to us tonight🤬🤬🤬🤬 My question is??  What kind of fly by night RE Agent only has access to only one computer to get his work done?  Sadly, we are taking this as a bit of a warning sign.

JEAN, HAPPY 64th Wedding Anniversary to you and Larry.  What a wonderful accomplishment and I wish you many more years to come💐

CALLIE, enjoy your dinner date with your son tonight, and enjoy that rum cake!  What, what, he did not want the traditional hot dog to go with it🤪🤪🤪

SANDY, I hope you were able to rest today, but not too much so it will not effect your ability to sleep well tonight!  Sleep tests are not fun!

I made meatloaf in our air fryer for dinner tonight and it tuned out very good.  I love that fryer more and more each time I use it.

More later,
