A post about   Joan's from her son Joe.

Thank you all for your continued thoughts and prayers.  Mom passed away peacefully in her sleep this weekend.  We are working on the arrangements now for a small funeral in Alabama on Wednesday followed by a burial next to Dad in New York.
Details forthcoming.

Sad to read this news today, but Joan is no longer in pain.  She will be long remembered  by her friends on Seniors & Friends and senior com for her special place,looked forward to each day
My condolences go to Joe LAVELLE for news over time and to her family.

I'm writing with tears in my eyes!  I had the extreme pleasure of meeting Joan face to face when I travelled through Arkansas some years ago.  She picked me up at my motel and we had dinner together.  It was an evening I will never forget!  I will miss her from her internet spot but she will remain in my heart and mind forever.  She was a lovely lady!

I am sincerely sorry to hear this news but for Joan's sake, know she is in a better place.  I lost a cousin on Good Friday a few years ago and we consoled ourselves with the fact that she entered Heaven the same season Christ went home.  Let us all think of the Faith that Joan had, that she will live on in all of our memories.  God Bless and keep her family strong, may you always remember how much she loved you. Prayers continue for all family and friends who loved her, she will be missed. I have no doubt that she has family and many Senior Net friends to welcome her into Heaven.  Shirley in Wichita, KS.

So sorry to read the sad news about Joan. When Senior Net abandoned us, I remember that Joan was a big part of helping Seniors & Friends get started. I didn’t post in Soda Shoppe or in the Busy Nest, but I always followed what she had to say, and I had great respect for her.  After such an extended illness, may she now rest in peace.

Lindancer

Oh! I am also so sad to read about Joan, passing.  She was a great leader to our groupe.  I always looked forward to her posting.  She always had something interesting to write about. MY Condolence to her family.

It is never easy to say goodbye to our friends and loved ones.

🦋 Our JOAN has been such a intricate part of our SN and SS Family for so many years, it will be just like our mom and dad or a sibling passing, we will forever expect her to be here for us to talk to or ask a question of.  Although we have had a much too long of a time that she has not been able to post with us, we STILL expected her to pop in any day to just say HELLO to all of us.  I think we might all continue to have that hope and anticipation that she might just pop in once again!  😭

SHIRLEY, the first thing I thought when I read the news this morning of Our Joan’s passing was how blessed was she , and were we, that our good Lord chose this special Christian Holiday to take her home?  She is no longer suffering as she has been and she is once again with her beloved husband, Ray and her twin brother, once again.

Rest In Peace Dear Friend, JOAN.  Know that you were loved and will be sorely missed by many.

So sorry to read this sad news tonight.  Like so many have already said,  Joan is at peace now and out of her pain and suffering that she went through for such a long time.   She will continue to be missed here.  So glad that she was near her family and was able to enjoy them for a while now.  She certainly was a big part of our little group here.

Our dear Joan WAS Soda Shoppe, it was her baby....I well remember the days back when I became a new member, seven - eight years ago...Joan made Soda Shoppe and ran it professionally and always made that welcoming first post to every member who came in to post for the day...I always remember how apologetic, no apologies were ever needed if Joan came in to start up the day a little later than she intended to do...Soda Shoppe belonged to our Joan, she was just the perfect host...I also remember all the other lovely members who we have lost back in the earlier days, too many to mention...This is a very sad day, our Joan was loved by all, and will surely be missed by all who ever had the pleasure to have met or communicated with her, Joan was a special lady and will always stay close to my heart... :'(

Rest In Peace our dear Joan...

I had the privilege of meeting Joan in Atlanta about 20+ years ago and it has certainly been a joy to know her these many years.  I know she fought a long and difficult fight but didn't let that show in her great devotion to all of us as an on line family.  I hope the following poem may bring a little comfort at this time of your sorrow.  Larry

Letting Go

The Angels gathered near your side
So very close to you
For they knew the pain and suffering
That you were going through

I thought about so many things
As I held tightly to your hand
Oh, how I wished that you were strong
And happy once again

By your eyes were looking homeward
To that place beyond the sky
Where Jesus held His outstretched arms
It was time to say good-bye

I struggled with my selfish thoughts
For I wanted you to stay
So we could walk and talk again
Like we did...just yesterday

But Jesus knew the answer
And I knew you loved His so
So I gave you life’s greatest gift
The gift of letting go

Bye Bye Joan, you were such an important part of S&F.  Even when you got ill and were not able to post on line, your presence was felt and our thoughts turned to you while hoping to see you back.

Filling your shoes is impossible but Soda Shoppe will remain active: your memory shall live on here with all of us who got to know you in real life or only on the net.

Rest In Peace dear Joan.

Amy

It hurts to let good friends go, Joan was certainly that to all. A gracious lady who welcomed all. Linda, Joe and Jackie, thank you for sharing this wonderful lady with us all. We can only imagine your pain but know how much it hurts us. She is with God now..

I’m Free
Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free;
I took His hand when I heard Him call;
I turned my back and left it all.
If my parting has left a void;
then fill it with remembered joy.
My life’s been full, I savored much;
good friends, good times,
a loved one’s touch.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss;
ah yes, these things, I too, will miss.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief;
don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and share with me;
God wanted me now, He set me free.

Sorry for the loss of Joan -

It was my privilege to work with Joan when she requested, many years ago, that would I create the weekly graphic that she used every Sunday to open a new week's edition of the Soda Shoppe.  She was always so encouraging and gracious.  I never met her in person but always considered her a good friend.  I have missed communicating with her because of her long, final illness and I'm sad that she is gone but also happy to know that she is at peace and with her Ray.

Condolences to the family of Joan Lavelle.
She is missed by so many.

Joan brought so much joy to everyone around her. She'll be missed by many. Those who knew her in person and the many who knew her on the net. She worked to find many inspiring stories for us and then some good jokes. Every morning we looked forward to what she found for us. She helped new members get started and feel right at home. There will never be anyone else like her. May she now rest in Peace with those who went home before her and with our Father.
