In modern time, I would have loved to meet Carl Sagan...

For me, if I had to choose one person of past time, it would be Benjamin Franklin. He was a writer, inventor, philosopher, ambassador, and statesman. He started as a printer's apprentice  and began his political career by writing and printing out so-called seditious broadsheets at a time when it was treasonous to be involved, even in a small way, against the British.

Another would be my Irish ancestor, who, along with 26 members of his family, was arrested and sold as indentured servants to America for selling a horse to a British officer. And that horse threw the officer for heavily using a crop on it. Twenty years later, the family finally regrouped and made its trip west across an unknown frontier.

For persons of this time, Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodard who exposed Richard Nixon.

 If you could invent something to make life easier, what would you invent?

A one-stop basic medical machine. Enter at one end with a medical condition and exit at the other with a detailed medical analysis and cure. After what happened at the robotic chess tournament, that might not be a good idea. A young boy made a surprize move, and the robotic chess-playing arm smashed his finger.

I'd have a vehicle that would be available to take me anywhere I needed to go any time I needed to go and I wouldn't have to drive it or see where it was going.  It would be totally safe and totally available!

I'd have a "flying machine", like my little 80cc Yamaha Chappy with the ability to take off like a gyrocopter with the blades to fold up so the Yamaha could be street legal to run around in town once I'd to get where I'm going. I've been deaming about that since I was 10 years old.  Sorry, Jane, guess mine better have the "auto pilot" feature as well since I am always lost.  

I would invent a vaccine to wipe out cancer. I am tired of losing family, friends and my dogs to that darn disease.

At one point in my life I wanted rolling sidewalks. There would be a moving strip close to where the stores were, on the avenues. Nothing on the side streets; that would be too expensive and too complicated. The strip would run to the north on one side, to the south on the other, and one would cross over on the corner to change direction. In the winter the strips would be put on hold, because of the snow that could be expected, but then the strip would not be shoveled clean, so that one could drag sleds on it.
Ten year olds think big, but don't see the pitfalls. That's another story. 

How about self-heated rolling sidewalks that would also work in winter?

I was hoping to see Maryline's invention... or Rammel's... or Vanilla's... or Tomereader...

Here is mine:
I would create a small house that would be self-sufficient in water, electricity, gaz, A/C, that would self-clean and prepare meals from  tasty cyber safe  ingredients.  It  would never need  repairs.  It should also be capable of self transporting anywhere, so as to  allow visiting while staying in familiar environment. (always sleep in your own bed! LOL) There won't be a need for driving license of course.

I saw the Topic, and thought about it, but haven't come up with a good answer. I guess I'm more into making what we already have work. Of course there is always a need for a working model Aladin's Lamp.
